NOED is only an issue in solo queue. Most SWF groups book it when NOED procs, and if one of them is hooked during it, they'll usually tell their team to get out anyway. It's not a particularly strong perk and has solid counterplay, but it becomes annoying when you're in a match without teammates to communicate with.
Solo queue needs a totem counter, and if you disagree to that and main Killer, just admit you want an easy kill by taking advantage of BHVR's poor game design.
-
You're surprised a player would try to heal their teammate if they know they're being tunneled? C'mon, my dude, you can do better than that.
-
I would give my left pinky toe if it meant BHVR stopped chasing comp sweaty players and focused on making the game fun. If there were more modes, experimental play styles, and big shake-ups to the formula, this game would shoot up in renown much more than if it was some sweaty e-sports starring Sally and Rin.
-
I have never heard someone refer to Cheryl Mason as "Silent Hill Girl" until now and it has awakened a dark energy in me
That said, this seems more like them making mistakes like unsafe unhooking and you capitalizing on it. They were the ones here making dumb mistakes and not wanting to feel culpable for them.
-
Since I couldn't care any less for lore/canon adherence, I'd be down for that. Hell, it'd probably make the game more tense as now your options aren't "Run or die" but "Pick your battles". To balance it out, I think having 6 Survivors who can fight against 2 Killers would make it better. You could get intense situations where Survivor and Killer are locked in combat fighting to the death.
The one thing to change would be the cast of Survivors though. Most of DbD's selection don't ring as ones who would put up a fight outside of a few like Yui and David.
-
According to the wiki, there was a stamina bar for Survivors in the alpha but was removed due to how easily it left Survivors without any survival methods and could be downed too easily.
What you should be calling out is not players using what they can to win but bad map design that makes running in a straight line the only way to play the game
-
Scott's cool and fun, it's his stans that make things annoying (see: surge in posts about nerfing Iron Will because he personally doesn't like it).
That said, he's makes great points here and it's a shame none of it will be heard by BHVR.

(snatched from Reddit) Although FTP would be more anti-slugging than tunneling.

All I want is the Huntress to sing the DbD theme song

I'll stop calling it genrush when survivors stop calling it "camping" and "tunneling". Killing survivors is literally the primary objective for killers. Unless there's something else obstructing that, most players are going to work on them.
Okay. That's valid. That's literally what the game is about. Survivors try to survive, Killers try to kill. That's how the game operates.
-
Realm Beyond. Once reworks of older maps are done, they'll add new ones. I think they've hinted that the next new one will be based on the All-Kill lobby (god, I hope so).
-
NOED is effective mostly against newbies who don't know their hex from the dulls and solo players who don't know how many totems are left. The game barely brings up totems outside of one (1) loading screen hint that you might see, but that's not guaranteed. NOED is fine in a vacuum, but in the context of newer players who don't grasp its workings, it can feel unnecessarily punishing.
And stop calling it genrush. Gens are literally the primary objective for Survivors. Unless there's something else obstructing that, most players are going to work on them. NOED is a cleanup perk for the Killer to get at least one more kill (or just one) in the endgame.
-
I think the big thing will always been the lack of communication. Many other studios are affected by the pandemic yet make it clear their plans are delayed because of it. I'm not too plussed by this since I'm used to devs not talking to their communities (looking at you, Bungie), but I get why others are upset at this.
-
At night, I come across two things as Killer and two things as Survivor.
Killer โ sweaties and weirdos
Survivor โ babies and weirdos
All the nutters come out at night.
-
This is a big leap and pure imagination, but imagine if they introduced scalable walls for maps. Walls with surfaces that can be climbed like rocks, vines, etc.. Both Killer and Survivors can climb them, but Killers will climb them faster (2s compared to 6s or whatever, it's variable). This could provide stop points on large maps where a Survivor player has to halt and make a choice to go another way or spend time climbing over. For Killers, it can also provide a way to cut off certain loops on the other side. At the very least, it would provide variety to maps because outside of baby Dweets, no Survivors wants to run in a straight line for 30 seconds. It's effective but boring. Scaling walls can change things up a bit.
It might also make some maps like Haddonfield and Badham less annoying for Killers by making certain houses have ivy walls that they can scale to get upstairs in a few seconds.
-
It's free comedy. "You dropped a pallet and now you're teabagging because... I can break it and continue the chase? Okay."
-
I saved a bucket of popcorn for another one of these. They do not disappoint. ๐
-
Hardly sounds like much concern. If you already hooked one of that before they DC, that's basically a kill right there. I don't play so sweaty that the last Survivor getting the hatch puts a damper on my day. Can it be annoying? For certain people, sure, but it's not rampant enough to care about.
-
Oh my Christ, Blight on console and you did this. We've found the win state for DbD, no one can top this
-
A Yords' post about Oni is a good day for me. Once I get BBQ, I'm gotta try this out.
-
Concept:
Give comm features and information to solo queue so the disparity between them and SWF isn't disgusting
Then we can buff killers accordingly.
-
The buff to Bitter Murmur is nice, but doesn't seem that much of a buff since it requires losing a totem. Dark Sense, however, would be greatly appreciated in solo queues to keep tabs on what your teammates are doing.
-
I've been getting way too many moris on my bloodwebs, and I couldn't give any less of a crap. I want sacrificial wards so I can not get Ormond'd and Haddonfield'd four times in a row.
-
Drop the carried Survivor
-
"Binch, you breathin?"
-
Survivor: 13
Killer: 12

Resident Evil Resistance is probably the closest thing you can get.
Don't remind me. It could have been great, but Capcom completely shot that in the knees. Don't see much good coming from their weird battle royale game either.

I have been playing a bit of Oni myself lately!
Oni is so much fun, even if you aren't downing people.
The bonks are legit.
-
I don't know why they don't make Fridays thru Sundays double BP weekends. It would break literally nothing and give people more incentive to play and reduce queue times, if not for a weekend.
-
Oni.
He goes URRRRUUUUAWY!!! and I go ๐๐ฉ

The number of posts and comments talking about how much fun it is to ruin someone else's experience never cease to boggle and entertain me. It's so edgy and childish, it's almost cute. Almost.
The community would be a lot better to remember that they're playing this game with other people who want to have fun, and that trying to win the game doesn't meaning screwing over the other role at every step.

It's dark as a cave on my PC, but on my TV it's fine.

I wouldn't be surprised if that happens a lot. Dumby Survivors will get into a chase ten meters around their hooked teammate, not even allow the Killer a chance to find someone else. There are plenty of ways Survivor players induce boring tactics (i.e., tunneling, camping) that the Killer wouldn't even think to do. Not to say there aren't Killer players who do those just because, but that there's variation.
-
"Killer mains after 4.2.1 can't play. All they know is camp, tunnel, charge they phone, be bisexual, eat hot chip, and lie."
In earnest, I get where you're coming from. Outside of cases where camping the last survivor or accidental tunneling occurs, it does suck to feel punished for something out of your control.
-
Looks pretty good to me. The main thing that would help give her reliable counterplay is putting her and the survivors on quasi-equal playing field for mindgames. It's one reason why I'm a fan of letting her affect grass while phasing. Catching glimpses of her and her catching glimpses the survivor definitely evens things out while allowing her to use actual strategy to be better.
-
Fine by me. That's what I thought keys were meant to do in the first place to substitute for aura-reading perks.

Of course it is. Why should a new player that doesn't understand the whole game yet have an equal say to someone that has mastered the game and knows what they are talking about?
"Mastered"
This game has too much jank for anyone to be a true master at it. And a newbie player's opinions come from the merit of their statement, not from how long they've played. A new player has the potential to provide insight that others don't see. And like others have said, there's literally no reason to further divide this fandom even more. Killer mains vs. Survivor mains is already annoying enough; we don't need Red Killers vs. Green Killers vs. Purple Survivors vs. Yellow Survivors (etc..).
-
Rank is hardly relevant to a person's take on the game.
-
I used to be a salty (solo) Survivor main. Then I started playing Killer.
Now I'm salty but in a holistic way! :D

If we're talking about Persona, there's literally one called "Oni" lol.
My heart is broken, it's Ongyo-Ki, the leader of the onis ๐
-
A common suggestion I see is that similar to how she can see grass move while phasing, Survivors can see it move from her while she's doing her thing accompanied by slight directional audio of it too. Similar to how Spirit rewards the player for paying attention, Survivors can get a reward (or rather avoid a punishment) for doing the same.

Guys this mode will never happen. Too many variables. I would expect a DBD dating sim mode before this
Okay, but there better be an Oni route. I just want one smooch from him, that's all I want

There's also instances where the killer may not mean to tunnel but it just sort of happens anyway. Scott Jund made an excellent video about this,
I bet you 90% of tunneling comes from players doing this. It's happened to me so many times, I can't even get upset at the killer for it. It was my team that let me down there.
-
Whenever I play Survivor, one of my favorite moments (rare as it is) is seeing the teabagging teammate get got by the killer in the exit gate. Unless I need to save someone, I'm out. I got no reason to taunt. Bye, enjoy your mori ๐
-
I'm all for this. Give solo survivor a buff that shrinks the disparity between them and SWF, then we can buff Killers accordingly.
-
Reading all these comments, I'm definitely gonna take a break from playing DbD (or any other PvP game) with him and talk with him about this behavior. He's not toxic, per se, doesn't use derogatory language or anything. He's just an awful sport and even worse sore loser. It bummed me and my boyfriend out and we really love playing DbD together, so it stuck with me. I do appreciate your responses though.
-
Oof, what's with these recent posts assuming Survivors just want to dick over Killers? I know the asymmetrical nature of the game puts both sides objectives at odds, but that doesn't mean the player mentality has to be "Hey, ######### the other side!"
Are there players who troll around and do things that make the experience less enjoyable for someone else? Yes, of course, but don't let that assumption override your mindset. Not every Survivor player is a small PP build with keys, flashlights, and BNP, just as how not every Killer player is a Stridor Spirit with an ebony mori. Don't go into each match thinking you have to go tryhard because the other side is out to make you miserable. All that does is run the risk of turning you into the killjoy.
Play how you want, it's your game, but don't get so worked up into thinking you have to sweat each match because the Survivors might dick you around. It'll sap any drop of enjoyment out of you.

I know it's an easy copout to post Scott Jund content, but today is one of those kinda days to remember this.
