I think it would be too embarrassing for BHVR when 2-3 killers have the incentive all the time because no one wants to play them.

Please no

I doubt you could NOTHING about it.
It's a read. You really shouldn't be in that position so often, I'd say switch up your more macro-level play in order to help.
Against fully charged Huntress hatchet it's a read. Against a lunge at a regular loop it's a simple reaction, high MMR survs pull it off very consistently.

Drones going into search mode plus the awful restrictions to how close drones can be to each other means area denial, or even setting up stealth zones is a pain. Thanks to the search mode, you pretty much have to place the drones near gens or they become useless.

I mean you could say the same thing about nurse despite the "nerfs" or "reworks" she is still the strongest killer in the game by far and she is older then dead hard, so should they nerf her to the ground because she stayed on the top for too long ?
I honestly don't mind her, just revert the buffs to Torn Bookmark and Campbell, and give her aura blindness while charging power so it isn't a free hit when you have aura reading on a survivor.

@WashYourHands said:
Her playstyle is to draw out games. Place 3 Drones at a 3-gen. Survivor disarms and gets trapped. Other survivors work gen. You come to gen and replace drone. The cycle keeps going until she gets a hook. Boring to play and play against.
If her drones weren't so ridiculously restricted, maybe we'd see other playstyles. Unless you place drones near gens, they'll just go into search mode and you have to fight against your own power to keep the drones active, with a long cd every time you activate them.
I think drones placed outside of range of a generator should never go in search mode by themselves, and allow drones to be placed with a little overlap. Wouldn't affect her 3 gen, but would make the power far more fun to use.

Countering perks is a part of normal gameplay and most certainly won’t go away if DH is killed
For killers you’ll still have to counter SB (Which you can’t if it’s used effectively) and other exhaustion perks
For survivor they’ve had to counter totem builds (Ruindying) and PR DMS almost every game when they were the respective meta for killers. Even further back they had to play around spirit fury enduring when that was more popular or even getting into a locker/behind a gen vs BBQ
DH is annoying yes but it’s alternatives aren’t much more fun
I personally don't want the perk gutted, it's a fun concept, and feels reasonable in a lot of scenarios.
But breathing down a survivors neck for 5 seconds every down is not reasonable, it's boring and stupid. Let instant, non lunge m1 attacks ignore Dead Hard, I'll repeat this idea till we get midchapter patch notes.
-
I just hope they tweak her so she's more fun to play. I don't mind her design, though a dark, creepy cyborg type person, or even monster would be infinitely cooler and probably far better received.
-
Yes, they spent 3 months creating a meme, for the lols.
In honesty, I'm just waiting for perk reworks. The new killer is neat in concept but just camps and forces survs out of loops in practice.
Also the range needed between drone placements is super restrictive, they can't even be close to overlapping, making the power awkward to use.
Can't we get some tweaks to older killers? So many of them suffer from strange restrictions and cooldowns. It's not like Plague, Legion or Ghostface became OP after they were made better to play, so why leave so many killers in the dust?
-
It's not a bad idea, but check this: If a player with Collective Stealth heals someone with Power of Two, neither one gets a single bonus or effect.
Why does Collective Stealth strictly require getting healed, while Power of Two strictly requires healing another player? That just makes no sense.
Make them trigger on either getting healed or healing someone else, lower cd to 40s, and they'd be halfway usable at least.
-
The new gen perk is awful and I'd be more concerned about 3 gen perks plus Adrenaline.
This chapter should have only had one surv honestly.
-
I already know full and well how to counter Dead Hard. I'm just tired of having to do it every single chase unless I know they're running another Exhaustion perk.
It's not fun.

The evidence otzdarva posted a while ago showing an auto-dead hard cheat made me stop playing killer. Now I always suspect a survivor is cheating when they get perfect dead hards, even after the killer has baited it and waited it out for ages, but they hit perfectly every single time.
Just miss on purpose to bait auto Dead Hard bro
-
Buyers remorse.
-
I love DBD, but I'm tired too of the stale meta. Even still, they've made lots of improvements in the past few years, most already mentioned by others in this thread.
The solution to being tired of the game isn't to act ungrateful. It's to leave the game behind and peek your head back in when updates drop to see if the game is any better. Nothing good comes from antagonizing the devs.
Vote with your playtime and your wallet.

I like how all killer mains are acting like DH works 100% of the time, there are so many times where you get screwed by the killers ping or your reflexes being too slow. Not everyone who plays this game is 15-17 years old anymore with super good reflexes. Of the 20 games I played yesterday as survivor, DH was only succesful in ~40% of them.
If DH procced everytime you get chased then yes it would be broken but that is not the case. I hope the devs keep this in mind too
Not my biggest complaint. My issue is that it incentivizes standing behind a surv and waiting. Just waiting. Can't hit, mindgame won, we're near say a window, but nope. Gotta wait 5 seconds.
Let me attack after I've won a chase 100%.
-
No thanks, I'd rather run chase and tracking perks.
-
Look it up on the wiki, it only affects self unhook. It's a lame, outdated mechanic anyway.
-
@Devilishly_Rowdy said:
I pull off so many sick ambush attack mind games near loops, only for the survivor to Dead Hard it as soon as the hit lands. If i choose to miss on purpose to "bait it out" they get away while i recover from the missed attack anyways. So a survivor can literally wait at the loop, and as soon as the pig gets close, press E. There's another uncounterable scenario for delusional survivor mains that say "just wait it out".
Just bait it out mid ambush.
-
True post, there should also be a button to not wipe your weapon after a hit, seems kinda pointless and the surv gains a lot of distance bevause of it.
-
@Veroles said:
Weird question i know, but what would happen when "dead hard" only would work for special abilities? So not for basic attacks? It would counter the hardcore sweat heads where it's needed and don't punish poor m1 killers too much. Would that make sense?
Neat idea, but I think it would simply become too niche to be worth running.
-
Why not make weaker killers more viable instead of keeping broken perks around "because they're fine on F tier killers lol"
-
@legacycolt said:
Dead hard is only hated by bad killers. When I play killer, I always find it fun to see them dead hard in my face and stuff. It’s really not that big of a deal
I guess most of the top killer streamers are bad.
-
Knight is fine too, his stats prove it.
No. It's "waiting it out" is boring, slows down gameplay and it feels awful to swing into a "just wait it out" DH.
Let me pierce it with instant M1s and I won't complain. Why people want killers to have to walk directly 2 seconds into survs and then watch them wiggle a bit before they down them in the open is beyond me.
It's a fun perk and a nice display of skill, but the "wait it out" part when you're right behind a surv is utterly boring and on the same level of "fun gameplay" as spamming unhook to avoid a hook grab.
-
He's licensed, so never.
But fr, adding paintbrush to basekit and making his power a little smoother to use could go a long way.
-
The perks are pretty uninteresting. The killer could be fun enough after the tweaks. I'd still be more excited for basekit changes to older killers. Pigs crouch and ambush time, most of Freddy, Clown. So many outdated killers that could be improved instead of adding more.
I'll get the killer with Iri Shards and see if I bother playing more until the midchapter with the perk reworks. I'm tired of DH, and all the useless survivor and killer perks.
-
I like him, but I wish his power was less clunky with when you can activate it, and his 3gen was weaker. Maybe slightly faster time till guards start searching after being placed, it has a delay right now that feels kinda bad.
-
25% shorter speedboost, non lunge M1 attacks ignore it. Fixed. Now to wait 6 weeks for midchapter and have them not touch DH in any meaningful way.

That literally sounds like Legion with Franklins Demise? But I guess that’s due to it being very vague. Would need some more detail
Nah, that's just Werewolf from VHS, was making a joke lmao.
-
Being able to ignore windows and pallets with your power sounds broken.
- Signed, Pyramid Head
-
Yeah, here's my concept:
He can track survivors based on their heartbeat, he can speed up temporarily, and he can disable survivor items for a short time!
Sounds cool, right?
-
Tweajk the numbers a bit and maybe. At least it wouldn't be extremely boring to play against unlike never sleep pills. Also add that BP bonus to basekit.
-
@Nos37 said:
And let killers skip the endgame. An afk husk stays behind, the killer gets no more points, and is taken to the results screen to get into the next match faster.
Yes to both of these. Once EGC starts, killer should get that option. Maybe "Leave game" could be replaced with "Give up".
Also being able to skip sacrifice animation for survivor would be nice too, especially if someone BMs whole game and BMs during animation.
-
Grades are not related to matchmaking, but I feel you. Try a less punishing killer to start, dodge tough looking lobbies, and feel free to close the game if people BM last second swap. Killer is quite fun when you get the hang of it.
Also ditch post game chat, waste of time.
-
Well, let me pierce Dead Hard with an instant M1 attack, maybe reduce the speed duration a bit. Should make the perk less obnoxious, since once a killer is right behind you they can just swing, and not wait 2-5 seconds every time. If it's so easy to "bait out", why bother needing to bait it out at all? Like saying "hook grabs are easy to counter, just spam unhook for 5-10 seconds until the killer swings". Sure, but does anyone actually enjoy that?
I don't mind it hardcountering lunges at pallets, I just think the whole "guess at which point in time the surv will activate DH is extremely unfun, for both sides. Like spamming unhook to not get grabbed. It's stupid.
No, I don't fear Sprint Burst suddenly becoming twice as popular as old Dead Hard. That won't happen, and would also be an improvement if it did happen.
It went from 42% usage to 34%. Just nerf it like I said and it'll be fine.
-
They should just simplify the perk a bit. Remove the penalty, reduce each stack to 8%.
No bonus, or lost progression on the first skillcheck. 40% boost when maxed out. Would make it more consistent. The fact that you take away healing progress is stupid, but so is 50% heals.

I just played a few matches as Nemesis. I used no perks and addons because I really want to learn how to play this killer to the absolute best. Whenever I try to learn a new killer I will play as nice as possible. I don't camp, I don't tunnel, I don't slug for longer than 10 seconds. I understand that playing like this will cost me a majority of matches and I'm fine with that.
What I don't understand is why every single team I go against has at least 1 jerk that will either dc, tell me to end myself or teabag me in the exit gate with his entire squad before telling me how bad of a killer I am. Don't get me wrong, I've somewhat gotten used to this kind of stuff and I don't care about that too much. However, I've tried to find a way to make everyone happy in the game while still having fun myself. That didn't work out.
So tell me: What do you want me to do? What does it take for survivors to not be awful?
Edit: My choice of words isn't ideal. I made it sound like it's every survivor, when it's not. There are definitely nice people also on both sides. Please note, I did not intent to make this an 'us-vs-them' discussion in any way.
I want you to close post game chat and tab out once EGC starts. I'd end the game prematurely too if I could but killer has no surrender option, even if the game is over. I'd like to see that added. Like once EGC starts you could give up.

I do run Lightborn. Unfortunately (or fortunately) there are a lot of DCs when they see their iri bulb can’t antagonize me.
Ah yeah, that's super lame when they take it personally. Either way. Don't worry, you'll eventually become more comfortable with all the weird stuff survs do.
-
The old clicking was toxic, but after the changes, I disagree.
They're blinding you at pallets because because it throws you off and helps them in chase. If they get a save, that feels awful, but you have to pay attention to flashlights in lobby. Also, especially if they've flashlight saved on you earlier in the match, you have to pay attention to not let it happen again. Don't take it personally.
Use lightborn if you have a problem with it.
-
It frustrates me how long BHVR takes between tweaking killers and their addons. It's so strange. Plague changes were great, made her more playable. Legion and Ghostface reworks were excellent and made them far less frustrating to play, without making them OP.
How many resources could it possibly take to tweak the crouch uncrouch time for pig? Test out if you can give hillbilly doom engravings basekit, or something? Clown, why not separate the purple and yellow bottles, but let them reload together. Also let the yellow come out just a little faster?
All these tiny number tweaks or small reworks take years to happen. It's baffling. Why make new killers when there's lots of potential to improve older ones?

"What you think guys?"
I think you should be happy you have movement speed buffs on addons with no negatives.
Go have a look at Billy's addons for a point of reference.
If they somehow made his camping less oppressive, they could make his chainsaw a little stronger in chase to be more consistent against good survs. But I'm not sure how to nerf his camp in a reasonable way.
-
I always buy original chapters with shards. I'll get the killer, but the survivors I'm waiting a long, long time before I buy, unless one of their perks turn out to be fun to use.
-
I think he's pretty good, B tier perhaps. The very first match, I brought Map of the Realm and Dried Horsemeat. Without those addons, detecting and getting a down with guards is a lot less consistent.
He's also excellent at gen pressure. The 2.5% extra kicking power to his guards was unneeded.
He's mostly about strategy and having good game sense.
@LordSturm said:
Knight should really just be able to tap CTRL or something to swap between his guards on command, that would be a decent boon to his power level and a much bigger one to his QoL.
The Mark of the Jailer charm states he's a "tireless pursuer, exhausting his prey", but he's... really not.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VZFMD0XKEPDX/image.png
Maybe they should give him extra chase length (maybe somewhere between assassin and carnifex) and he Exhausts his target for the length of the chase + 5 seconds (like Fearmonger)?
And maybe Carnifex can get a little bit of extra movespeed, but not more than Assassin of course
I like that a lot, would make him a lot more strategic. Make it possible to send out guards when near a wall too so it's less clunky, give him maybe half of Horsemeat and Map basekit, and he'd feel fantastic. Then we could nerf his 3 gen, somehow. Maybe kicking the same gen with guards becomes less and less effective, going from 2.5% down to 2, 1.5 and finally 1%. Ofc recharging over a minute or so.
Being able to cancel a patrolling guard after say 50% of the duration would also be nice.

Whell not just shards. I bought some auric cells and i intend to spend them only when there is 50% discount. Not for killers that u can buy for shards. But yeah i also have 30000 shards that i intend to spend when there is discount.. i was late in september to do so and now i wonder is there a point to wait..
Good choice to spend real money only on characters you can't get with shards.
It's a good idea to check SteamDB.info and see if it's cheaper to buy the characters on sale in Steam rather than buying them with Cells, if there is a say, 50% discount for both.
Here is the Halloween chapter and its price history on SteamDB.
https://steamdb.info/app/530711/
You can see when it went on sale in the previous years, expect it go go on sale around the same time this year. All the DLC go on sale at the same time.
-
More original characters made free. Console gets Chapter 3 and 4, aka Feng, Ace, Hag and Doctor unlocked by default because it is included in the price of the game.
I think all versions should have this, as well as Chapter 8, 9 and 10, so Clown, Spirit and Legion as well as their survivors.
Forget the DLC sales. Think about it, if you include them for free, you'll sell more outfits, right?
One of the most boring parts of being new was how few characters I had unlocked. Grinding shards and waiting to be able to finally get a new character.
I guarantee that the community goodwill, word of mouth, good PR and boosted outfit sales that BHVR would get from making all these chapters free would more than make up for the chapter sales.
Add in 5000 shards or so to players who already own the chapter and we're golden.
-
Yeah aight let me just rework 50 perks real quick
-BHVR, probably

I actually don't mind pain res as much as I used to now that deadman was nerfed. It isn't nearly as strong what I do find boring, however, is the gen kick meta perks. Pain res, I think is a fairly well-designed perk, it is a bit frustrating at times when it catches you off guard but it has fairly simple counterplay when you know it is in play.
True, but I'd rather have it reveal the gen for 3s in yellow, like discordance or something instead of causing a scream. Then they could lower the regression slightly since the info it gives is now more consistent.

I do think people are overreacting but there is genuinely 2 good killer regression perks now. I guess that's how it was with pop and ruin before though.
Pain Res and Deadlock are both excellent. Corrupt, Call of Brine, No Way Out and Jolt are good. DMS is situational, but can work on some killers.
I don't mind the nerf. I just pray that they nerf Dead Hard in the upcoming midchapter. Make non-lunges counter it.

6 slowdowns vs 6 second chance perks GO!

Jelly saves 5s on a green map, and more if you bring duration boosters. I'll show you the math. The Jelly reduces the speed you use your map by 20. Imagine it was 50%. Then the map would last twice as long, right?
20s / 0.5 = 40s.
Makes sense.
The Jelly reduces by 20%.
20s / 0.8 = 25.
Think of it like this. If you save a half, how much extra do you need to use up the rest? 100% extra, you need to do it twice as long, right?
If you save 20%, how much extra time do you need to use up the rest? 25% extra. 80% is what you've used. But you still need to use the last 20%.
25% of 80% is 20%. 80% + 20% is 100%. So it lasts 25% longer.
Probably easier to explain visually but I hope you get the point.
If you reduced usage by 90%, it would be 10x longer, right? 20s / 0.1 = 200s.
