One of the major topics that we always see in the forum is how “swf sweat squads” are op, unfair and impossible to defeat and called to be nerfed. Well, my take is that they are supposed to be like this. Real sweat squads are quite rare to find, and members of those teams are probably all really good players with an incredible amount of time spent in game and high skill cap. It is quite obvious to my eyes that an equally skilled player should be able to verse them. Not easily, but still make it manageable.

Now, let’s talk about you, the killer complaining. You’re probably close to average with some variance, because that’s how picking randomly an element from a huge pool of items works, with not that many hours (and 1000 hours AREN’T that many) into the game, and you’re demanding that players with an incredibly higher experience than you get nerfed and substantially punished just for being better than you. I’m sorry but that’s not how that works, especially because these kinds of squads are indeed rare to find, and if you think that the majority of teams you verse are ‘toxic op swf’ that you can’t counter, again I’m sorry but you really need to stop a second and make a self critique about YOUR skill level, because as much as you’re probably around average, the same works for the majority of the survivors you will face. Record your games and rewatch them, criticize your decision making and see what you could’ve done instead.

I know that when facing real sweat squads it’s frustrating and annoying, and most of the times it ends up with a feeling of impotence, but that doesn’t mean they are the problem.

And nerfing them will affect every other player in the game. Killers have to kill yes, but survivors have to survive. Devs can’t make the latter impossible just because some average dude complains he cannot beat a team of players with a lot more experience than him.

So... here's the issue. It isn't actually with 'sweat squads' specifically. It's that they are not being matched with comparable level killers. Matchmaking in this game takes a backseat to queue times it seems. And queue times are only going to be worse if BHVR continues to make changes to the game that punishes killers. So it's a downward spiral of sorts until some significant changes can be made. 1. Matchmaking needs to actually work. 2. Add VOIP to the game so BHVR aren't trying to balance two separate games. 3. Once 1 and 2 are in place they can start looking at the statistics & listening to their playerbase and make appropriate balancing changes.

  • There is clearly not an equal chance of each map when you remove offerings from the equation. I've noticed I get MacMillian roughly 1 out of 3 matches, more frequently as survivor. I need to start keeping stats on it, because it's not feeling very random.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume you mean Windstorm without the uncloak slowdown.

I'd prefer to not kill his awesome super-lunge.

yes, I meant like the full level with no negative affixes. His base kit needs help, his overall add-ons are quite good, so just give him one of those addon's base and then replace it with something else like I mentioned.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/176942/so-devs-can-you-rework-moris

I agree, fix both moris and keys, neither have good counters. Both of them have a few problems

    Problems with keys:

    • Survivors can get one through RNG, which is completely unpredictable, and the killer can't possibly patrol the chests too. It's unfair because it is entirely RNG based, you might be dominating a whole game and then the survivors just get a key and now your win is barely a draw.
    • One key can allow multiple people to escape, especially when down to the last 2.
    • Even if you know they are bringing a key, it's hard to prepare for them, when survivors typically can finish 2-3 gens in the first couple of minutes, it is very difficult to deal with a key, especially in a SWF scenario.

    Problems with moris:

    • Shortens the time to kill way too much, killers can just tunnel someone straight off the hook for a mori, can't even use DS to get out of it.
    • Removing even 1 survivor from the game early generally means a loss for the whole team.
    • There is no realistic way for survivors to counter a mori. They can't predict them before the match to prepare in some way, and the only way to not get mori'd is to "play better"

    How to fix keys:

    • Make it so keys are no longer able to be found in the trial
    • Make it so when a key is used on the hatch it only allows 1 survivor through, and the hatch is put on cooldown and will not open for 60 seconds.
    • Make it so the key has a short charge/animation for opening the hatch (something small, like 5 seconds)
    • Make it so if a survivor is sacrificed (specifically sacrificed, so moris don't count) while holding a key, the key is removed from the trial
    • Make it so if a survivor uses a key they get more bloodpoints when escaping through the hatch. (max out survival, give em 8k)

    How to fix moris:

    • Make the yellow mori basekit, because its fun why not? You already killed everyone anyway, outside of having DS as the last survivor which is pretty rare it shouldn't be a problem.
    • Make green and ebony moris now work on a token system. Every time a survivor is hooked, gain 1 token. Everytime a generator is completed, lose 1 token. When you are at 3 tokens, you can mori a survivor you down.
    • Green mori allows 1 kill
    • Ebony mori allows 2 kills, but survivors only have to repair 4 generators to escape. The generator that is furthest away from the killer is automatically completed when the trial starts.
    • When a killer mori's someone, they should get significantly more bloodpoints (think like pyramid head where you get like 1000)

This means that keys can now be countered in the game, by focusing on the person with the key. It also leads to some moments where a survivor with a key who is on death hook, might give their key to someone else so that they can still keep the key in the trial. It also means that keys can no longer randomly be found in chests to give survivors a free win they don't deserve.

This gives moris a counter so that survivors now have a way to prevent a mori from occurring by powering through a generator together, it also makes ebony mori much less powerful by only allowing 2 kills and giving survivors a head start on the match to compensate for the fact that the killer gets to shorten their kills. It also gives both sides a fun way for the match to end by making yellow basekit so that it's not always the same. Many killers who don't like using moris will now get to actually see the animation play out sometimes.

While I think the mori rework is a little convoluted this is the best fix I have heard or read for both Key's & mori's. Good job!

  • @Boss said:

Could use some buffs, i don't see a rework being necessary.

Stuff like truly invisible from far away & some more speed while cloaked could help a really long way.

Add-ons are also mostly fine, i find his arsenal one of the most fun in variety.

Blinks need to do something else, the standard uncloak time is fine.

And Blind Warrior Mud is only meh because Blindness is meh.

EDIT: Oh, and Shadow Dances are too gimmicky right now, they could use a change as well, but i wouldn't mind it too much if they stayed the same, cause at least you can do a meme build.

Fun killer but his base kit is too weak, very add-on dependent. IMO leaves most of his add-on's alone, but give him either full windstorm or swift hunt. Then replace one of those with lesser versions of clapper or all seeing.

  • Being able to pick yourself once when slugged is enough to change the entire outcome of a game.

  • It's not that it's a bad perk it just pales in comparison to unbreakable. Being able to pick yourself off the ground should be a very rare thing. Unbreakable does too much for free IMO. They need to remove the speed buff and add some conditions to it after you get up.

  • I've already given my thoughts on the aura change in other posts but I'll just say as a survivor it isn't that impacting but as a killer it's a huge deficit. I'm about 50/50 survivor/killer but I do prefer killer when friends aren't on.

  • +1 to metal chase music for legion.

  • I don't think all the survivor items should get a buff due to a single perk. You think the addon change was bad, try playing killer for four years. At least you can run ace in the hole and get out with your addons still.....

  • I agree with everything you said and I'll just say this. All of us have to come to a decision as to what is to be our breaking point. The facts are they are gaining more players than they are losing so in their eyes they are doing a pretty good job....so far. The only way they will listen more to the players is if 1. There is a mass exodus of players 2. They lose revenue. I was quite happy they extended the event and I was able to farm more but all of the changes you mentioned have been terrible. Addons for killers are awful and are not designed in any logical fashion. Why in the world do we have SEVERAL killers with ultra rare & very rare addons that are worse than common's? This is a minor gripe but I haven't heard anyone complain about this yet so I thought i'd bring it up......am I the only one who thinks Billy's new chase music sounds too close to Deathslinger? I mean can't he have something a little more unique?

  • So I played a lot of games today, most as survivor. Didn't have many issues at all. Was using empathy and OoO frequently and didn't affect my gameplay. Played one game as killer. WOW.....how could they not test this properly? As mentioned BBQ is almost impossible to see, survivors blend in with the gens. Nurses Calling is horrendous! Even the hooks are terrible, I literally couldn't find a hook and had a survivor wiggle off. Please up the brightness to these aura's.

Also, you make it so killer can't switch but survivors still can and see who the killer is through the game files.... then switch their build to counter? I know I am plenty critical of this game but I have to wonder ######### the dev's are thinking.....

  • I don't have much to add as I agree those numbers are too high for most of the reasons listed above. Additionally 15% gen progress for only 20m means swf's would likely prefer this over coop genning for the 12 second reduction, which is a serious issue as swf's get gen's done too fast as it is. Also I don't like the idea of a perk directly affecting self-care.

as someone who mainly plays solo survivor I would probably quit the game if they forced coms, unless I could mute them. going by the general community interactions I get with randoms in this game.

Yeah there definitely should be a quick mute option like alt+ left clicking on the players icon on the bottom left of the screen to mute someone being obnoxious and toxic. I've noticed that VOIP does tend to make people more respectful on average as well.

  • @Todgeweiht said:

I dont think they are an inherently bad thing. But people can easily abuse it to gain a competitive advantage.

And they do....on a consistent basis in red ranks. This game's been out for 4 years and it still hasn't been fixed. Hopefully now that they are actually taking small steps to get this game on track with balance we can finally get it done so the dev's can balance the game properly.

  • @faff said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1467810#Comment_1467810

to balance the game around voip you would basically need to rework most of the perks entirely, and massively buff killers all around, or nerf survivors massively someway, or both.

I would rather have that then the developers trying to balance two separate games. The only type of person who wouldn't is a swf player.

  • I think you're missing the point of balancing the game :/

  • 100% correct, they need to add VOIP to where it would act exactly like discord. Only the team can hear it, unlimited range.

  • VOIP is now more important to be implemented than ever before with the MMR news. Say you have two solo q'ers, one has a map and the other a key. While there isn't much synergy there imagine if it's SWF. As soon as the black lock spawns the team knows right where to go to get out. When MMR is actually used they need to be able to condition for this. BHVR officially supports Discord with an official channel so they really need to get off of the fence already and just add it.

See the thing about that is. Im 22 years old, your word just doesn't apply. You make it sound like I'm asking for this, I'm not. Its a "what if "situation, not a "want it" situation. I came here to have fun just as much as I did to talk about the game. Over the past few posts all you've done is call me a child and an idiot and refuse to actually provide reasoning for your views. I recognize people wouldn't like it, thats why I made it a poll, so those who don't can disagree with the simple click of a button. I don't think of you as a dick because you disagree, I think of you as a dick because of your rampant insults and entitlement that you keep spewing. I have spoken to other people who would like the idea, I've spoken to people who wouldn't. So I whipped up a quick concept for fun to see what people think. I'm not trying to be someone everyone has to agree with and takes everything seriously, I'm trying to have fun. And so far you are the only person who seems to be trying to deny me that.

Your logic on points make little to no sense at all. You have a tendency to speak out of both sides of your mouth. Let's go ahead and use this thread as an example. You say you are not advocating for this idea yet you are presenting it for people to vote on, came up with various idea's for how it would work, voted on it yourself, and you voted yes. You either don't understand what advocating means or you are just trolling, which is wasting people's time. You say I haven't provided you reasoning yet I explained why each of your perk idea's are bad and I stated making an infamous villain a 'good guy' is bad.

If there are any other people who are bothering to read this please speak up because I don't think this person is going to understand if it's just coming from me.

Exactly, noise doesn't matter nearly as much in a chase, and its still there, just quieter. Not to mention the fact it only ever activates during the second half when your injured. And the key thing is valid, but those need to be changed anyway, so I don't think its necessary to balance around they're broken state. Thing is, you don't have to take it seriously, you can think these are the stupidest things ever seen. As you've almost definitely noticed other have disagreed with me on the thread, The difference is they aren't actively insulting me.

Because I don't believe you are being serious with your idea's or your suggestions. They are too over the top. I didn't even bother getting into your noise affixes because the rest was so egregious.

The perk was basically just distortion at first, thats why I made the edit. I was told this by bubbabrotha and edited accordingly. Plus, how many times are you injured and not being chased or healing? Not to mention its by half, you can still be heard and you still leave scratch marks. And invisible items would probably be the most useful with a flashlight at loops, aside from that I can't think of many other ways in which it'd be useful. Not to mention the fact they are only invisible the first three times you use them. And as I have mentioned multiple other times, I only made him a survivor because it'd be easier. Scroll up if you don't believe me. And once again, just because your hearing something you don't like doesn't mean the person is uneducated or a child. And are the insults really necessary?

You are almost always chased when you are injured with few exceptions like Legion putting players into deepwound or killer needing to peel off to focus on a gen. With Concealed Carry, even if you balanced the perk to something like 'your item is hidden from the killer, every time you use your item your aura is shown for 5/4/3 seconds' you are saying that players with Key are completely hidden from the killer. They only need to use the key when they find the hatch therefore it doesn't matter how many uses you make it until the player is visible. Come on, how am I supposed to take any of this seriously?

  • I don't see this game having a shelf life of more than 3 years for new content. The odds that the lawsuit would be resolved by then are low. If it happens, cool. But I wouldn't hold your breath.

  • Stupid idea and even dumber perks. Stop trolling the forums.

This wasn't an argument. This was you calling me a kid 3 times and refusing to give a reason for any of your views. How many times did I ask you the difference between something like NOEM and Stranger Things? And how many times did you answer? And the difference between your music comparison is genre and notoriety. People like Taylor Swift make music for more popular genres than Led Zepplin. People also know Taylor swift more than they know Led Zepplin. These DLCs are in the same game and are far more iconic than Stranger Things. Saying "You know, and if you don't your wrong" Isn't an argument. Your beating around the bush and entitlement is why people don't take valid complaints seriously.

######### IS NOEM? You're right, this isn't an argument because you have no idea what you're arguing about.

Funny, Stranger Things is one of if not the most successful chapter in the game last I checked. Why is that so? If these other chapters are so much better and scarier. And you have still yet to answer, what gives something like NOEM that seal of approval you have? What does it have that Stranger Things doesn't? Maybe it's your unrealistic expectations for what is considered adult horror that doesn't fit, not the licences. And the only childish thing I see here is claiming anyone who disagrees with you is a child.

Dude, I'm done arguing with you. Your points are all completely ridiculous. Popularity doesn't make something 'better'. If Taylor Swift sell's more albums than Led Zepplin this year does that make her music better? If Michael Bay makes more money off of his films than Hitchcock's estate does that mean his films are superior? Your argument is exactly why Stranger Things, FNAF, Slenderman etc have zero place in this franchise. I don't know what the ######### NOEM is but if you are trying to say ANOES that's embarrassing. I'm not saying anyone who disagrees with me is a child but you are literally a child. You have very little knowledge of the horror genre. If you actually watched the original ANOES and can't see what makes that HORROR vs some episode of Supernatural there is absolutely no chance I have at swaying you.

I just cannot see any of these proposals being implemented. I'm pretty sure nearly all killers, myself included, will dodge all known SWF lobbies, bloodpoint bonus or not.

Seems to me any changes the devs might do are in a "do not increase queue times" kind of mind. So cannot indicate a SWF in the lobby, cannot separate them out, cannot disband them, and cannot interupt comms but also cannot force in-game comms either. They simply won't do any of it, especially since more than half of all survs are in at least a 2-man SWF.

Given all that, the only method left is to raise solos to about SWF level, then rebalance killers around that.

I agree with you, I don't see the developers implementing any of these features either. Adding VOIP to the game would be the only real way to raise solo to SWF but they will not do it. So this game with always be in an indefinite state of broken until implemented.

Your trying to discredit these licences viability and ability to fit when you actively acknowledge Stranger Things as something that doesn't fit. Also, have you watched the video and read the transcripts? Because I see that knife being pulled out the body to be pretty adult, I also consider giving a child a multitude of ways in which they will choose to die to be pretty adult. I ask once again, what does NOEM have that Supernatural doesn't? And I'm 22, since you seem so hung up about it.

Discrediting the licenses for being something that doesn't belong here while also discrediting something else that IS here that DOESN'T belong here is in no way a flawed argument. The entire reason why I didn't want Stranger Things on this game is because it opens the floodgates to people such as yourself who want things that are straying more and more away from the Horror genre.

I bought this game because it was supposed to be serious horror 17+ videogame, what I'm left with is arguing with children on the forums. 22?

I'm using arguments the game has disproved....I don't know what you mean by that. Please elaborate. I haven't commented on the other examples...no offense but your other examples do not carry any more merit than the other I did comment on. How old are you?

What you think of the acting is irrelevant. I think its poor but thats not the point. You said it was kid friendly, is cutting open a trash bag filled with your family members considered family friendly? If so I honestly wonder what you deem adult. Also, what about both of the other examples? And what makes something like Stranger Things so much worse?

Cutting open a trash bag filled with body parts and the killer mutilating people on screen is a lot different than cutting open a trash bag filled with what appears to be delicious kool-aid. If you can't distinguish between the two we aren't going to get anywhere. I do not like Stranger Things in this game and I was against it. The problem with these developers is they see the $$$ in broadening the playerbase with things that do not belong here. So don't fret, you'll likely get your FNAF, slenderman and whatever childish nonsense that sells nowadays to a bunch of kids who know very little about real horror.

  • His base kit needs a little TLC but for the love of god do not touch his addon's. Every time they screw around with addon's they somehow manage to make them all worse than before.

  • I think Hellraiser is the only real Killer left that could have interesting & unique mechanics that belongs alongside the likes of Freddy, Leatherface & Myers. Chuckys a hard maybe but I don't trust the developers could handle the mechanics of something like that to make it feel authentic. EDIT: With the disappointing news that "Chucky" will now be a TV show airing on SYFY and USA it's almost guaranteed we will be getting him which kinda sucks IMO.

  • Queues and matchmaking are important but the game needs to be balanced first. This will be done when the developers implement VOIP into the game and balance it as if it were a single game instead of two. Matchmaking would be the next big fix. They need REAL matchmaking with an MMR system, statistics, playback options etc. Each killer gets their own MMR accordingly. Queue's will balance themselves.

Yes yes we get it. You dislike other peoples opinion and use objectively incorrect arguments like claiming all they are is kids media to justify it.

There is no question that it is kids media. This is a 17+ or 18+ game (depending where you live), it should not be catering to people younger than that.

  • I want chapters that fit within the universe. This means IP's that are for 18+. I do not want slenderman, FNAF or supernatural because it broadens the base demographic of the game to include individuals who have no business playing this game. I also don't want every schmuck whos been made into a tv show or movie. The chapter should reflect the prestige of previous chapters like it's a hall of fame.

    Hi,

I just did a game as a killer against survivors that were clearly more experienced at the game than me, I did my best and in the end game I had 1 guy hooked with the other 3 all running round the hook trying to get him. I was fending them off trying to get a down. Got to the point where they just left.

End of the game I was greeted with this:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/L06GSI8CQ6KD/chat1-li.jpg

I'm the pink and ive numbered the survivors 1,2 and 3.

Also here are their ranks compared to mine:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/AKE9NMDFYL1Q/ranks1-png.png

So not only was I totally outclassed due to the matchmaking system, I was given a load of abuse at the end of the game. This game is making me feel miserable and badly affects my mental health so that will be my last game as I can't take it anymore, this isn't even close to an isolated incident.

You need to learn to embrace the salt young one. There are no rules to what you can do other than whats available to do within the game. You didn't do anything wrong.

This is not a post about how weak/overpowered Demo is. It's about the personality and behaviour of our favourite flower-mouthed monstrosity and what I find to be its lacklustre adaption into dbd.

Although opinions may obviously vary, I think that the Demogorgon we see in game is nowhere near as threatening as it was depicted on screen. And I think a big reason for this is the lack of interaction with the Upside Down.

One of Demogorgon's most terrifying abilities, the ability to drag you to an alternate dimension without warning where no one could hear your screams, has been relegated to generic teleport that simply takes you from A to B. With the minor benefit of getting some map knowledge when placing portals near gens.

I know why the devs didn't go with the alternate dimension idea when designing Demo. The last time they tried something like that they created the first iteration of Freddy. But there's so much potential with this idea that was missed!

Imagine seeing your buddy dragged into the Upside Down and hooked, being unable to unhook them until you go in the Upside Down to save them! Or what about if 3 of the 7 gens could only be repaired in the Upside Down, and being in there made Demo's terror radius static, similar to Huntress' and Freddy's.

Survivors in the Upside Down could have an effect surrounding their icon to give the team information on how many people were in which dimension, survivors in the real world could pull survivors in the Upside Down out if they were within a certain radius, there's so much that could be done here!

Don't mistake me, I'm not asking for a rework to Demogorgon. But I really wish his power was more akin to what I just mentioned. I think it would be so much more interesting than what we have now.

I wasn't really thrilled with them adding Stranger Things to begin with. My only hope was that I was expecting them to design demo like this. I was extremely disappointed by the end result and regret buying the DLC.

  • I consider it a great compliment really. Usually once a month. The last time I was called a cheater was because I saw a nea hiding in the corner of the map as freddy. I pretended I didn't see her and acted Like I was going to go for the door. I baited her out of her vaulting area and hooked her sorry ass. Post chat made my day.

No thanks. I'll just take the L and move on as Killer. I don't want to play that and I shouldn't have to.

The problem isn't with penaltys the problem is with balancing swf's. I agree they need to be balanced and I disagree there should be DC penalties.

  • Lot's of complaints about lobby dodging here. Queue times would be much better for survivors if the game was balanced correctly. People who are trying out new Killer's should not be forced to go against SWF's at the start. I'm going to keep stating this solution until it get's implemented. Either the game get's balanced for SWF's by adding VOIP to it so that every match is essentially a SWF or Killer's have the option to check off SWF's and increase their queue times OR Killer's get increasing bonus BP for size of SWF.

I think letting it work on hooks in use is fine. If a killer wants to tunnel then they'll tunnel whether it does or not. There are already several survivor perks to counter tunneling and I honestly think it's not a huge issue at higher level play.

updated my previous post, what are your thoughts?

  • yeah the range needs to be nerfed a bit to balance out for the aura's forever duration. I'd probably also add that the effect doesn't work for hooks "in use". The problem then is it strong enough to compete with surveillance? I think it would be okay for it to be a bit weaker than surveillance because it grants the killer the ability to see whats going on in the basement at all times which could be really beneficial for the start of the game.

Another fun idea with it is that it grants 25/50/100% more bloodpoints in the sacrifice category for each survivor sacrificed on affected hook.I could be wrong but I don't think there is a killer perk that adds bonus points to sacrifice so I think that might make it a real winner.

Every day I will propose changes to 1 survivor perk and 1 killer perk to make them not unusable garbage like most perks are.

Survivor Perk: No Mither - You are affected by the Broken Status Effect for the duration of the Trial. Your injured state is hidden from the killer, you move as if you are uninjured. You do not leave pools of blood. Your injured grunts are muffled by 25/50/75%. Grants the ability to instantly recover yourself or an ally from the dying state once per game. You gain 50/75/100% bonus to bloodpoint gains.

Killer Perk: Territorial Imperative - You are granted 3 tokens which may be used on any hooks. The 24 meter radius around that hook and the basement becomes your territory. Any time a survivor enters your territory receive an alert and the corresponding hook will glow. If a survivor enters your territory while you are 40 meters or more away reveal their aura for 3 seconds.

Justifications: One of the weaknesses of No Mither is the killer knowing you'll go down in 1 hit, making their status hidden will help prevent the killer immediately targeting the No Mither survivor; survivors will still see the broken status on their teammate. Grunts are muffled more. Allowing the user to immediately pick up themselves or a teammate may provide a sufficiently strong ability to make up for having 1 hit all game. This would probably still be too weak, but it's hard to justify being injured all game without giving a truly op ability. Also bonus BP for choosing to play hard mode.

The thought behind Territorial Imperative is in allowing the killer to build an actual Territory. 3 Territories may be too much, but I can't playtest the idea. The idea at least is more interesting than just knowing if someone far away from you entered the basement imo.

I have proposed 4 perk changes so far. BHVR has made 0 perk changes since I started.

The problem with no mither isn't the perk itself but that similar perks are too powerful to consider it in comparison. While I think your proposal to Territorial Imperitive is interesting I tweaked it a bit:

Killer Perk: Territorial Imperative - You are granted 3 tokens which may be used on any hooks using the active ability. The 16/18/20 meter radius around each affected hook and the basement becomes part of your territory, any survivor who enters it will have their aura's revealed. Affect does not work on sabotaged hooks.

The range might need to be reduced a bit but should at least encompass the nearest generator. I can see that being slightly useful for last gen situations.

  • Okay you go on Wikipedia and get into a revert war with the people on there about it belonging in the Horror genre. You know what, your cunning critique of my opinion on where Supernatural falls as a show has got me to change my mind. The Exorcist, Halloween, Hellraiser, Supernatural, Texas Chainsaw Massacre....yeah. Sounds great.
