Is camping abuse? Is tunneling abuse? Slugging for 4K abuse?

There are a lot of things in the game that, while you could argue isn't abuse in the technical terms, most at least agree are unsporting. You are certainly allowed to body block when you have BT activated but then don't come whining when I now "abuse" tunneling because you "abused" BT...

This exactly. Many survivor mains on here would argue that these things are abuse of a killer's power. The only thing that i'd even consider abuse, but doesn't really bother me personally, is getting unhooked and trying to get to killer to focus on you again by going quick locker out of sight. You can't argue that DS is an anti-tunneling tool then used said tool to try to get the killer to tunnel you.

  • the last breath is a free dlc. Dead By Deadlight, the base game, doesn't have a chapter subtitle.

  • From google: Lots of NEW Content, Small Price – Dead by Daylight: Nightmare Edition contains the original game, The Curtain Call Chapter, Shattered Bloodline Chapter, the Headcase Cosmetic Pack, and Stranger Things® which includes Steve, Nancy and the terrifying Demogorgon!

They just corrected it and actually I think gave me more BP than the missing 450,000. Happy camper!

Thanks to you I had the confidence my ticket would actually get a real resolution and it did. I got my 300k back. Thank you!

I wouldn't really be opposed to it. The more we get, the better.

Patently untrue. Quantity does not equal quality.

  • Hahaha. I know the feeling. I played a game last night where i kited the killer around the entire map until all the gens were done. Killer didn't even bother to camp and I died on first hook. Nobody came for me. Was incredibly annoying.

  • They're in uncharted waters. I really wish they would just spend the money to bring specialists in to advise and set it up if possible.

  • I really like the Saloon as well. I was kinda hoping they would revisit the older maps, especially Lery's, and install breakable doors.

yup. im the rank 16 meg (madahala_) and i wanna ask why tf i was matched twice with rank 1's. ######### do u think ur doing, bhvr? please fix this, or come back to the good old rank system. what i see here, is garbage.

Oh, I played against you yesterday I think. sorry about that.

  • It's a good question. Unfortunately the dev's don't seem keen on explaining any details at all on how this MMR system works. I suspect they didn't bother to get actual specialists involved to assist with building the system.

  • Survivor: Empathy. By far the most under utilized perk. Knowing where there's an injured survivor is knowing where the killer is without giving up your position like OoO. It also allows you to swoop in an take a team hit if needed.

Survivor (Solo Q only): Kindred. This perk usually gets survivors to actually be productive when you are on the hook.

Killer: Dark Devotion. Specifically on Hag. It creates a lot of great confusion where you can tell you created some real scares for people.

  • My issue with Macmillian is I get them 1 out of very 3 matches. So they get tiring. I like Lery's a lot of I'm playing survivor. As killer it really just depends who I'm playing as. Obviously indoor maps are frustrating as someone like Oni, billy, plague or huntress, but on Freddy or Nurse? WEEEEE!

I'd say it needs to be easier for him to exit Tier 1, especially to provide some early-game pressure. He may not need a full rework but EW1 needs a definite change, even if that costs some of the snowball of EW3.

Yeah otz feels that way as well. Me personally, I normally don't have issues getting into tier 2. There are some maps like the game or Lery's that can definitely make it more difficult. So if anything make tier one take a second or two less of stalk. I don't want them messing with his add-on's, they are in a good place for the most part.

... I see very, very little PTB participation from the loudest naysayers, only a lot of parroting what big name youtubers state.

I rarely see 'criticism' posts that would not boil down to 'behavior bad because they make me play differently depending who i play as/against'

And most 'criticism' posts seem to be under the assumption that fixing a bug can be done within a second of someone pointing it out (after not having been on the ptb)

Is the MMR wonky? yeah, but it needs time to get smoothed out.

Should there be a colorblind mode and the visual heartbeat etc from the mobile version? sure.

but these are not the things people rage and rave and rant about.

No, people just wail because they believe they know how things work when they don't, but demand the world bends to their understanding.

    FFS sake, cut it out...

(everyone posting 'bait' etc because they have their widdle feeling hurt is morally obliged to donate 10 bucks to my kofi, thank you)

Please explain, how you are able to see people who criticize changes on the PTB as participators or not? Making an assumption thread based on other supposed assumption threads benefits nobody.

  • Provide footage and perhaps some of us can give advice. Myer's needs a slight buff, not enough to warrant a rework.

I’m on my way to reaching red rank killer however I’m faced with matches where I don’t get every kill. I watch streamers who are seemingly flawless at killer. It gets me a little discouraged if I can’t get kills every game. So I just want to know, do the higher up’s also have bad games? They don’t possibly dominate 24/7 right?

I've been a red rank killer for a very long time. Those games definitely happen, especially if you're using a killer you haven't played for a long time or a killer you have very little experience with. I've seen the top streamers have 4 escapes. Don't get discouraged. Just remember that you are playing to have fun and practice. Playing as a killer is so stressful sometimes it's easy to forget that.

People actually used to do that, hence the birth of SWF

SWF's been around since 1.0.3. It just didn't work for a year. We tried queuing up together, it was almost impossible.

  • @Hoodied said:

How many times do I have to say this.

    You literally cannot nerf SWF

Making gens slower/reducing total size of parties/reducing bp gain/etc will LITERALLY not work as then you can queue together by playing solo. You shouldn’t restrict people playing with friends

Have you actually tried to have a group of 4 queue up together using solo? Unless your team has the same rank (and going forward a similar mmr) this would be next to impossible to pull off. Maybe if there's regions where only a 100 or so people are playing at a given time.

The solution to these woes IMO isn't to treat SWF's differently, but to treat SOLO Queue like SWF. Add voice comm to the game standard. Balance around that and everything would be much better for solo q'ers AND killers.

I'm mostly asking killers main here, how do you deal with toxic survivors during a game ?

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a main survivor (rank 1) and I really do prefer this role. However, I started playing as the killer lately because I always loved to see people playing the pig or the plague so I wanted to try it myself. I'm a rank 16 though, so basically, I'm a baby killer. I'm not tunneling or camping and I refuse to play with NOED as I really want to learn how to be better as a killer.

The thing is, most of the time I'm facing a red rank team with the flashlight/toolbox combo. I would understand if I was actually camping or tunneling someone but I don't. They t-bag me whenever I miss a hit, they "click-click" me with their flashlights so I can chase them because they know how to loop and I still don't know how to handle it (even though I'm a main survivor, I'm still pretty average).

I literally stopped playing as the killer because of that. It's really discouraging when people realize that the killer is a yellow rank so they can do whatever they want. I absolutely hate this behavior and when this happens to me (when I play as a survivor and I notice that the killer is a baby killer) I'm just trying to end the game as fast as I can because I actually feel bad for him.

My question is, how do you deal with toxic survivors ? How do you still wanna play the killer side when this happens the whole day?

The best way to do it is to glorify their ego by not wasting time with them. As soon as you run to them and they start running you towards a completed gen or their predetermined loop- peel off. Try to find the weakest person on their team and use them as a pawn to snowball the game. It's always about gaining control over the situation. Put them into a position where they have to make a move that puts them at risk. Never play their game, make them play yours.

But how will they differentiate between hours as Freddy vs 30 minutes as Clown?

Good question. I believe having total hours in game as all killers, both survivor & killer and player level should carry a weight as well. The only time when a rank 20-17 survivor should be going against a killer with a collective 250+ total in-game hours or more is if the are playing with a swf team.

I'm a huge fan of killers having individual mmr's but there are other things that need to be initially taken into account. While 'hours played' is not an indicator of skill it 'should' bring along with it an inherent understanding of fundamental gameplay mechanics that those lesser ranks have not grasped yet.

  • Hours played should be accounted for within the MMR. Why it isn't I have no idea.

Because things can and do always change and why most stats are constantly updated.

Who knows there may be more but there may also be less.

They probably won't release anymore as much like you stated you don't believe them anyway many other stated the same because it doesnt fit with what one wants to be true.

I believe them, they are taking all ranks into account however. Red ranks are not 20%. Not even close.

And why would the date have a dramatic effect on team composition metrics?

The stats from last year showed differently. Bear in mind these were also almost 2 years after the console release.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/719/CPIDC1XE8JBT.jpg

Many assume its swf if they play well together but it's not always the case as a good setup of solo players can and do play better. The amount of times I've been accused of being in an swf when I only play solo is astounding.

Sure.... I believe those stats. I'd love to see the breakdown in red ranks. If it's 20% chance or less to have a 3man swf let's have them showcase who is swf and who isn't in the lobby.... shall we?

  • I can now confirm that I have multiple games in my library that are having the same issues. The games I see with this problem are the following:

    Dead By Daylight

    DOOM VFR

    Karnage Chronicles

    Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

I have 100's of games so there must be some sort of connection between these titles.

EDIT : I've tried logging out and back into steam. No dice. Not a working resolution (for me, at least)

  • Well then... isn't this a disaster? At least I can take solace in knowing I'm not the only one. I have all but 5 killers p3'd with all the perks if I end up losing my progress I guess I'm done. I uninstalled hoping that maybe I could reinstall and that solve the issue. This is very unfortunate.

  • Every game I play as one of my best killers I get 15-20 rank survivors. Every game I play a killer I almost never play I get red rank swf teams. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • So this new MM system is completely #########. On killers I play frequently I get paired up with 15+ rank survivors. On Killers I NEVER play I get full red rank swf teams. The MM system is doing the complete opposite job that it's supposed to. Big surprise....

  • I'd agree with all you wrote with the exception of Thana, I think it's in a pretty decent place. Get lot's of play by streamers and red rankers. Very good on killers such as Plague. It also has actual synergy with nurses calling, which is bizarre because almost none of the killer perks actually feel like they have decent synergy. They did a goob job when they made nurse. Omni was too powerful but IMO she got overrated a lot.

  • @SpaceCoconut said:

While I understand that the numbers and calculations for getting an MMR score should remain a secret locked away from the playerbase, I wonder if it's really necessary to hide the score itself.

As a player who cares about improving it would be interesting to see what my score is for each killer and to see how it changed as a result of a finished match.

Ranks are important to players to gauge their performance and experience to create a sense of improvement or success against their opponents.

Since traditional ranking is gone, the closest thing we have now is our MMR score and maybe we should be allowed to see our scores.

    Thoughts?

We both know that's not going to happen.

  • It's definitely broken. I could post screenshots. I've played about 6 games as survivor and get 3 brown ranked teammates against a purple killer. If you want to try out new killers right now this is your time to shine before this gets patched.

Yes, Murdering of Children was always present in my favorite Goosebumps books. Like in "Monster Blood", "Coo-Coo Clock of Doom", "The Haunted Mask" or "The Beast from the East".

Wait that last one alluded to the children dying in the end.

I realize you don't like the fact that people are labeling FNAF for what it is, a childrens scary game. Perhaps we should add slenderman, all sorts of creepy pasta characters & frank the bunny as well?

  • Mostly a good list, but I'd disagree with the following:OoO, soul guard, Distortion, Windows of Opportunity and No Mither. No Mither gets a lot of #########, and people think it needs buffed. It doesn't. The problem with it is unbreakable. Now that's a perk that needs nerfed. Being able to pick yourself off the ground should require a heavy cost in order to be balanced.

  • I mean you already listed the reason why it won't be in the game. FNAF is basically horror for kids. The backstory, as already mentioned, is no more scarier than something from goosebumps or are you afraid of the dark. This is a mature game, it should not be played by, or entice people under the age of, 17+. While I appreciate the maturity of your post some character from FNAF does not hold water to the caliber of licensed killer's in DBD.

Demogorgon is as close to kid friendly as DBD should get to that sort of content and I believe most of this game's audience agrees.

  • I like how this is a huge buff to keys, yet people have actually requested they be buffed even harder. lol.

  • DS is only game breaking for the super tryhard swf groups. if it's solo players or mediocre swf's I can just leave on the ground no problem and move on to the next victim.

  • Possibly. Certainly a lot more likely than Jason, Springtrap or an Al-Qaeda suicide bomber. But as Mojo just pointed out the code names bear little to no resemblance to what the actual content is.

  • Dev's wouldn't be working on an IP that is still in litigation. There is zero chance it's F13 related. My guess would be a killer based on some sort of middle eastern superstition.

  • I don't know if people are being suppressed on these forums about talking about this but I'm going to do it anyways. There is an exploit that allows survivors to see who the killer is going to be while within the matchmaking lobby. This is a well known exploit amongst those who use the official discord and i'm sure many other places. The lobby now allows survivors to prepare a hell of a lot more than it does for a killer.

My belief is that instead of putting survivors and the killer in a lobby, once queued, players see a change to the status indicator at the bottom of the screen to read 'creating trial' while awaiting the killer or more survivors. Then just throw survivors and killer to the loading screen when it's ready, removing the match making lobby entirely. This way nobody can ######### any longer about the killers bringing mori's when swf is apparent or survivors swapping to flashlight builds when hag is present... just to name a few.

If you wish to change characters, perks, items & addons ALL players need to do so before queuing up. If there is a logistical reason why this cannot be done can a developer please chime in here?

IIRC the devs never had any plans for VOIP. New matchmaking is supposedly on the way.

I don't think it's ever been mentioned but it should be in the game. I wish I could be optimistic about matchmaking but I have to go by their track record.

  • @slim0b said:

Well we need something to work on his mobility, and reloading bottles is what messes it up.

Clown has 4 bottles and you need to use at least 2-3 to hit an ok looper at a jungle gym. You always run out to get a down on a healthy survivor.

You can easily compare him to doc or huntress, and as you said he just lacks so much. There's a video of Yerv making suggestions, some of the ones below are his.

1- He should have more bottles by default, 5 or 6

2- The whole bottle reload thing should be gone for good and the bottles should recharge passively, 1 bottle/3 sec

3- Gens that he damages should be trapped with a gas cloud, this gas cloud emerges as soon as a survivor touches the gen, and obviously causing them to scream like default. It could act as a built in surveillence

4- Allow gas clouds to also penetrate like 1-2m only on the other side of a wall.

    5- Direct bottle hit = 3s exhaustion

in addition to ALL of these effects of the cloud creates a hindered status effect by 2 seconds(UP FROM 1.5).

  • So FUncle the exact thing happened to me. I don't believe I restarted the game so when I log on tonight I'll update this post and let you know if I received the BP's. I won't be holding my breath though.

  • How long has this been going on for? I've been buying bp's with iri shards every 7 days for probably the last 2 month's. First time I noticed this issue.

  • I give props if I felt impressed by the other sides abilitys. others i usually say gg and sometimes just move on without saying anything.

  • Try not going to a gen at the start of the match and run the stats again, I have a feeling you'll fair better. Keep in mind that the first thing a killer does when they spawn is run to the furthest point of the map (usually). So what you should try doing is crossing over to the other side of the map without being detected and work a gen on that side.

  • We still don't have proper matchmaking, stats screen or VOIP in the game 4 years into it so this shouldn't come as any sort of a surprise.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 11
