I played this game on console back in mid 2017. You should have seen how bad it was then.
Now I play on PC. And to be fair, the game has improved quite a bit on console since the early days (I know this because I still check occasionally).
Not to mention, the devs are giving away a bunch of free cosmetics to all players. So I wouldn't say the devs don't care at all.
-
A few months after all the strongest killers have been nerfed.
-
*laughs in PC
-
Because the devs would rather nerf a perk than rework their crappy maps.
-
What do you mean when you say: I'm going to throw every tactic I've got into the game?
Give specific examples please.
-
The devs will probably change Legion I'm thinking.
-
Curving is one of those skills that will take a ton of practice. You'll have to learn how to curve around all the obstacles, which involves a lot of trial and error.
If you're on PC, I recommend using Q and E for steering. The extra precision makes curving easier and more lethal.
-
I think Demo is in a good place right now. Sure, he struggles against optimal survivors, but then again all killers do lol.
-
I've made a post about this as well. I hope it stays.
-
R.I.P
-
Jeff main here, who are you calling chubby?!
-
No one likes playing against Hag because they all camp. Every. Single. One
I'm sorry but trying to snowball off every hook is the most boring way to play.
-
You know? Not every Nurse player uses strong add-ons.
I know of some who play Nurse old-school (no sweaty perks or add-ons). I'm sure those people aren't too happy about the changes.
Before the nerf, old-school Nurse was arguably one of the most fun killers to play. You weren't too powerful, but you could also handle sweaty survivors quite well. I miss those days.
-
If we were to exclude Freddy (since he's a somewhat special case imo), then I think Oni would probably beat the other killers in a fight.
Oni just seems like the most powerful physically. One hit with his club and it's lights out for most of the killers. There may be some killers with special abilities that might usurp Oni's strength, but I can't think of any honestly.
-
@LordGlint said:
Would be Freddy. Since theres no way to pull Freddy out of his dream world in DBD, hes pretty much unstoppable and unkillable. The entire fight would just be a repeat of this scene from Freddy VS Jason.
I think you're right. A lot of people don't realize how powerful Freddy is lore wise.
And yes, he's impossible to kill while in the dream world.
-
If you're on PC, just play with a M&K.

And a teammate running away yet the killer is on the other side of the map chasing someone
That's why I always chat with my teammates before the match starts. Let them know I'm doing a challenge.
-
The healing challenges weren't too bad imo. Of course, killers camping all the time does make the challenge aggravating sometimes lol.
-
In my experience, bad killers tend to use moris. That's just how it is.
And let's face it, moris are not balanced.
So I understand why survivors don't like seeing them.
-
Legion basically gets destroyed if survivors stay spread out lol. The happens naturally on big maps.
Survivors could choose not to heal either. That also destroys Legion lol.

"That doesn't seem like survivor entitlement in my view. Because as killer, you're giving the survivor a sporting chance"
First of all...no you won't "probably still kill them." A lot of the time, survivors are camping the hatch and know where it spawned before the killer does. It really is a 50/50 chance. Slugging puts the odds more in the killer's favor.
Second of all, that's absolutely entitlement. Believing they should get a sporting chance. I'm a red rank survivor, and Rank 1 killer. I understand both sides very well. The only time I believe in sporting chances as both a killer and survivor, is to not immediately tunnel after the first guy you hooked, so at least they get to play the match out. It's not even efficient anyway.
I generally don't slug for the 4K by the way. I just don't agree with the complaints towards people that do. It's a tactic, it's effective, and it has legitimate reasoning behind it, and if the killer wants his 4K, and has the patience for it, that's his decision to make. The fact that a survivor "doesn't like it" is so absolutely inconsequential. If I have the patience to play the end game that way, and you don't...that's literally not my problem whatsoever LOL
If a killer wants to be merciful, that's also his decision. He is not obligated whatsoever to play how the survivors want him to, and that just brings us back to the age old debate of DBD.
Now that is one change I would like to see in regard to the hatch. Only one survivor can use the hatch and it only spawns once 3 out of 4 survivors have been fully sacrificed. Then it truly is a race to see who gets the hatch first. Of course, the survivor can still get lucky with exit gate RNG.
Back to the topic, yes hatch camping is a thing. Otherwise, the killer has a better chance of finding the hatch.
And since you think player fun is so inconsequential, I guess there's no reason to complain about the things survivors do. Everyone should just play as sweaty as they can.

I don't really know why survivors think an escape is that important. You are liable to waste several minutes hiding from the killer waiting for the hatch to open. That's not fun for either side. Not to mention, by that point you probably have at least 20K+ bloodpoints from being the longest lasting survivor in the trial, plus a pip. Why sweat so hard over the escape?
But if you insist on getting the hatch, then don't complain when you come across a sweaty slugging killer.
See how that works? You're essentially telling the killer to give up, because it's less fun when the killer doesn't. But the survivor could just as easily concede the match as well. This is what we call "Survivor Entitlement." You may have heard of it before.
That's the wrong way to look at it.
For starters, a lot of survivors are okay with dying at least half of their games. I don't encounter many survivors with a mentality like "I'm going to do everything I can to escape this game". And I play a lot of survivor in red ranks, so I have a decent understanding of how these guys think..
Also, the hatch game is usually in the killer's favor.
Let's say the killer kills the third survivor and now there's only one survivor left. The killer stands a better chance of finding the hatch than the survivor. And once the killer closes the hatch, it really depends on exit gate RNG at that point. It could go either way, which seems pretty reasonable to me.
That doesn't seem like survivor entitlement in my view. Because as killer, you're giving the survivor a sporting chance. You'll probably still kill them, but at least they have a shot now.
And what's the worst that can happen? The last survivor escapes and you as the killer lose very little as a result. And some other player was able to earn a small victory.
As killer, you probably wouldn't feel very good if you had to play against a full SWF team, with voice comms, meta perks, broken item and add ons, and map offerings.
-
It depends on if the complaint is justified.

you and me are opposites i can get good kills with Lf but cant kill survivors with legion because i smack one and then he heals himself while i go get the others.
You will not get good kills with LF against good survivors. You have a better chance with Legion.
At least Legion can get an easy first hit, and with the darkened screen it's easier to mind game survivors.
Overall, you stand a better chance at pipping with Legion.

So you just said a 4K is okay, but not if I try for it? It has to be by luck?
..If you honestly believe that's how the game should be played, then you're in for disappointment.
Killer's don't have to let Survivors go just because the last 2 were not within view of eachother, and it's not tryhard, sweaty, unfair, or spiteful if the Killer slugs to go looking.
Christ, this player base sometimes. 4K's are only okay if it's 'natural'. smh
I don't really know why killers think a 4k is that important. You are liable to waste several minutes slugging one of the last survivors. That's not fun for either side. Not to mention, by that point you probably have 25k+ blood points and a pip. Why sweat so hard over the last kill and 1000 extra blood points?
But if you insist on a 4k, then don't complain when you come across the ultra sweaty tryhard survivors.
-
Because if the devs got rid of them, then survivors would have to get good. And we can't have that now can we?
-
Leatherface is worse than Legion. At least Legion can score easy first hits.
Only thing LF has is his camping prowess.

Tell you what:
I'll stop going for a 4K if a Survivor group ever give me a hook if the gens all pop before someone's dead.
I mean, if me going for a 4K is being 'sweaty', or 'ruining the game', how do Survivors think I feel when they genrush and everyone is about to leave inside 5 minutes?
But no Survivor will agree that 4-man escapes is sweaty. It's only KILLERS who have to follow made-up rules and 'not be sweaty' and 'Just let the 4th go'.
It depends how you slugged for the 4k. If a killer downs one of the last two survivors and see the other one straight away, then I don't really fault the killer too much for chasing at that point. Because it makes sense to do so.
But if you slug one survivor, and go off looking for the last one for several minutes, then yes I consider that sweaty behavior. Because now you're basically saying I want complete and total victory. Which is fine when it happens naturally, but when you go to extreme measures to achieve it then that's pretty lame.
You don't have to play hardcore in order to rank up or earn a significant sum of blood points.
This game already has enough balance issues, there's no need to treat each match so seriously.
Lastly, not all survivors are as sweaty as you think. There are some that avoid certain tactics in order to make the match more fun and interactive for the killer.

Which brings me to my point:
Killers or survivors have little right to outcry how the opposing side chooses to play, because they themselves are very rarely going to show any ounce of mercy for who they’re up against.
Even still, you can make the match a little more fun for both parties by not playing sweaty all the time.
Me personally, I rarely slug for the 4k because it's more fun and interesting to give the last survivor a sporting chance.
Also, I have played against plenty of good survivors who have avoided using over-powered loops. Those games were more fun for me as killer.
You don't have to go out of your way to stomp the opposing side into the ground. Just because the game is not balanced doesn't mean players have to make it worse.

I never said all criticism are made without basis. Do you not see the many criticisms that are made without basis on this forum? I do think it's problematic to make criticisms without attempting to overcome any perceived negatives through actual gameplay.
Maybe you think you know how bad something is based on the past. But I'm willing to bet there are more perks available since that past experience. That means new and different opportunities for counter play. What gives you the right to think you know everything without any new experimentation?
There are some changes that you just know are bad.
For example, that perk that allows Legion to remove his terror radius in order to easily down survivors with the deep wound status effect. C'mon now, we don't need to experiment with that change for weeks.
Or, let's use the new map as an example. There's an RNG version of the new map that allows a jungle gym to spawn right next to the shack. Again, we don't need to test that extensively either. That's just bad map design.
But I do understand your point. There are some who complain over trivial matters.

Try imagining yourself in the shoes of the killer trying absolutely EVERYTHING in their kit yet still only manages ONE hook before the 5th gen pops. Then tell me how much fun it is.
Slugging for the 4k is no different than survivors using everything at their disposal to make the killer's life miserable.
Both acts are very sweaty imo.
-
I just play normally. No need to go all out because they are streamers.
Besides, let's assume you do bring a mori just in case. Imagine how embarrassing it will be to bring a mori and still get destroyed by the twitch streamers.
Yeah no, just play how you normally would.
-
Try imagining yourself in the shoes of the last two survivors. Then tell me how much fun it is.
-
Sometimes I can sometimes I can't.
No one can hit great skill checks consistently.
-
What gives you the right to determine whether criticisms have merit or not? Some of us have played the game long enough to recognize terrible balance updates when we see them.
Do some people overreact to changes? Sure, but that doesn't mean all criticisms are made without a basis.
You can make the argument that it would be better to hold off on our criticisms until some time after the update has went live. That way the devs have time to collect data. But again, some changes are so bad that we don't even need to wait to let the devs know.
-
I don't agree. That's too much hand holding.
When you play survivor, you should be able to survive long enough to get a pip.
-
If for some reason he's able to sneak right on top of me, then yeah.
-
The depip squad showed us how powerful survivors can be.
I don't think the devs are willing to admit it yet.
-
I'm not a survivor expert when it comes to exhaustion perks, but I will say something about how good Dead Hard is :
The reason Dead Hard is so good is because you can use it to get extra distance. That extra distance can allow you to make it to a very strong loop. Or, you can use the extra distance in case you mess up at a loop.
DH just has so many uses. Which is why I think it's one of the best exhaustion perks.
-
The power loss on pick up I think should be changed. Allowing Oni to keep his power after picking up survivors would increase his pressure potential. Sounds like a good change to me.
Not so sure about speeding up his movement speed while absorbing blood. His main power is supposed to be really strong, so allowing him to recharge it with ease might be a bit too much. But we'll have to see.
