For my current mains:
Thalita Lyra: Friendly Competition - I like the extra burst it gives to both myself and the other survivor(s) for gen repairs. That5% can make all the difference, especially with Toolboxes or Prove Thyseld.
The Oni: Blood Echo - Especially good on the Oni because if you can injure a few first this basically destroys their exhaustion perks. I know it's not amazong, but I really like this when it comes together.
-
It's what makes his power unique. Taking this away from Pyramid Head removes any real worry of getting tormented. Plus his torment trails can be countered, so try your best to not get caught up in them and you won't need to worry about the cages.
-
In a theoretical situation, I think it's really complicated how different survivors and killers would interact. Say the Entity doesn't allow killing outsode of a trial, some discussions could be interesting and some not so much. For example:
1. The Shape should be let nowhere near anyone. Regardless of the Entity, he'd jusy stare awkwardly at people amd maybe even somehow kill a survivor, inspite of the rules.
2. The Trickster and Yun-Jin may reminise a bit. They're both rather nasty individuals with history. Granted, they wouldn't be chummy, but could have somw interesting discussions.
3. If Pyramid Head saw James Sunderland, not even the Entity will be able to stop that slaughter.
4. The Cenobite and Vittorio would actually be interesting conversationalists! Both with extensive knowledge of their perspective experiences and both quite philosophical. I also see Pinhead as eager to learn about this strange place so I could see those to having philosophical discussions.
5. Jeff and the Artist won't talk, per say. But they may show interest in the art of the other and watch each other at work.
6. Ash and the Nightmare will probably be wise-cracking and insulting each other in their own whacky ways. The Ghost Face and Bill may join in on this "fun".
No romance though. It's not something that would happen between 2 opposing sides.
-
It can be amusing, sure. It's nice when there are niche games like this which aren't taken seriously.
Recently, I had a really unusual trial because I was a survivor in a trial at Mother's Dwelling with The Skull Merchant. The Skull Merchant had basically set up CCTV around the house and had moved in. Try and get in there, and she went barmy. Stay away and she would just nod at us.
Odd, but a fun game! Well ... until I released I had Rancor too late (why always me and rancor?!?), but as she decided to rip my heart out I wasn't mad because it was just a meme game.
So yeah, I prefer most trials to be normal, but a sprinkling of silliness is always welcome!
-
I'm with you. Regarding everything that has to be factored into a game which, in all reality, cannot be balanced properly, it's just really well done overall.
It's lovely to have this positivity here. 👍
-
Out of interest, people who suicide on first hooks are mostly going down the same direction of this mmr thingy, so are more likely to meet with other people who do the same thing. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy of thinking a game is crap so I'll dc or suicide, then wonder why they end up in teams with others disconnecting or suiciding.
Not saying mmr is perfect or whatever (there's no objective evidence to prove or disprove), but suiciding to get out of games with subjectively-believed bad survivors or whatnot will unsurprisingly put you with others who are probably doing the same.
-
I tend to play a single killer or survivor for a while at a time, and currently the survivor is Thalita Lyra and killer is Kazan "The Oni" Yamaoka.
-
This just reminded me of a trial about 2-3 years back where a Huntress camped and I would wave my arms to show others what was happening. 3 gens got completed before my second stage. The Hunyress then proceeded to hit me continuously for most of the second stage before I was rescued and we all later on escaped. Nobody asked, but your topic reminded me. Anyway, to what you were saying:
I feel the main reason for things existing that you have issues with is because the devs haven't acted upon this. They do a decent job in dealing with post-game chat that is the only real toxic element of the game, but others fall into grey areas.
Teabagging at the exit gate I can see as being a dick, but it only works of someone is there to see it. If I'm not interested in seeing this (even though it's pretty rare for me) I just go smashing pallets and walls up or use my abilities if I can for a little extra BP. The only thing is teabagging during the trial is part of the tactics. If teabagging a killer to distract them from targetting others and helping others do gens, it's the equivalent of a horror movie where the protagonist talks ######### to the killer to lead them into a trap. It's not tosic in-game.
Likewise, hitting on the hook is a grey area. Granted there are some who are just being a dick, but there are other reasons. A killer may hit someone on the hook once because it silences the scream, allowing them to look for others. They may hit because the survivor was using the aforementioned tactics in the previous paragraph, so they're balancing the books. It's not straight-cut.
I do think teabagging when they're obviously just a step away from victory is dickish. However, again a survivor may do a quick teabag and go as a way of saying "ggwp". I've noted that and have done that too, although I prefer leaving a gift instead. It's all quite grey and down to interpretation. That's perhaps why it's too difficult to see as toxic. Even if they are teabagging disrespectfully, how do we know of the killer has camped or hit on the hook or played on a way thay some may see as unfair? It's too grey an area.

While tunneling and camping have been around, they really rose after the patch. And thats what was new, that next to every killer was doing it.
I don't know how common or real this actually is though. Nearly every week someone is saying "Tunnelling is the worst it's ever been", but comparable to what?
It's not my experience that this has been common since the latest patch. I remember times gone by where it was horrendous, but I can't share that same experience. All there is to go on is what people say here and it's the same year round.
However, I am certainly not doubting this happens. I also believe for some it has gotten worse for them. I just haven't shared this experience and have had worse in the past.
-
If a survivor aids the killer and you can record and prove it, it's reportable. I've done this a couple of times, once with the survivor chasing me to block me so the killer could down me.
Like you, my main goal is not to survive as survivor, but to make sure I get at least 9 emblem points. Ironically, because that's my focus, my escapes seem to happen more than if my I actually played to escape.
A quote on Dwight's perk "Bond" was the main inspiration for focusing more on team than escape: "We have to work as a team! I need you to survive so that I can survive!".

It really isn't, 15 minutes in a week or two is certainly not a big problem.
Also, increasing DC penalty is useless as long as all survivors have a "free rights of disconnection" through hook suicide, we needs to fix that game breaking issue asap.
Good thing I never requested an increase in dc penalties then.
Also, for someone who has a disconnect by the isp and can get back into the game, it takes less than 15 minutes to load back up, so someone who disconnected once has to wait probably 10 minutes before playing again which, for a once-off, is more than necessary.
The disconnection penalties are fine as is, but again I reiterate a system that forces repeat disconnectors to play with other repeat disconnectors would be good.
-
She is really poorly designed, even to the point her animation is terrible. She's a rush job. Oddly, the survivors are actually okay and with a better killer would have made a decent chapter.
However, Skull Merchant needs a rework badly.
-
The midchapter was a great success, mechanically-speaking. The "Tools of Torment" chapter was the failure, which many have stated the same.
Some people are seemingly talking about tunnelling and camping as if this is a new thing. It's been around since this game started. The most effective, easy-mode for killers is tunnel one out and finish the rest. It's always been that way.
As for the game dying, this is a meme. It's an ongoing meme which means absolutely nothing. DBD has no big competitors and even if one were to emerge tomorrow it would have a lot of work to do to cause that.
-
Now, we wait....
-
Just goes to show how limited my knowledge of this chapter is; at first I thought you'd misspelt Bloodlust!!

That's a very good way of putting it, maybe it would have been better to have started my post just by saying that what I mean by Potential, is reliant on the player using him. It's kind of funny when i read the posts saying how simple and basic wraith is. Cause inherently I agree, honestly I agree with what most people are saying about Wraith. The only difference is, I don't play a Wraith like almost any other typical Wraith player, when I do play him, it is 100% a mindgame, it is anything but simple, my perks have been meticulously designed to target all of Wraiths biggest weaknesses and strengths and compensate/boost them up. My playstyle as well is anything but predictable (I won't go into detail about it), essentially what I'm saying is, if you get into a game with me and treat me as a basic and easy to loop Wraith, by the time you get to the final gen if you should, it'll be too late before you realize how much control I actually exerted on that game.
I like wraith partly because of how many people don't see the potential you can utilize him for, and the more players think of him as nothing more than a simple and easy to loop killer, the easier i find it is to disprove that during my games.
Also, before the most recent update I was still winning games, but I can't say if I would have been as much without addons, but with the healing meta as it is right now, I have a good feeling I can still do quite fine without any addons. It certainly has me curious enough to play some games to test that before rank reset.
Exactly. The player has so much control over the effectiveness of a killer to the point where, other than the rather boring professional circuit, tiers are largely irrelevant. I actually wonder how healthy tier lists are to the regular player, due to self-induced pressure to become this imaginary, unprovable high mmr.
There's so much that can happen in a single trial which changes the outcome. One simple mistake by a survivor or a lucky guess by a killer could decide an entire trial.
-
No trial is the same and the game has been proven to be the best game so far to replicate the slasher genre, due to its clear dominance in the area.
-
It doesn't matter what tier people want to label him as, it's not the killer but the player which matters.
There are examples of low tier killers beating really strong teams. Otz is a prime example of showing this with his Trapper.
If the Wraith is played by an inexperienced player who is trying to learn him, Wraith will play like an F tier. Someone who has put a lot of time into Wraith can make him S tier.
Sure, you can't prove how good a killer is based on one match, but neither can someone pigeon-hole a killer into a tier when the player is the biggest factor. That's why the Nurse, who is universally seen as the strongest killer, had the lowest kill rate in the last lot of stats which came in.

It definitely does not reset after 24hrs.
It's only based off what I read, but I never stated it reset entirely. It apparently resets 1 tier as I mentioned. So if someone had disconnected 4 times, the next day the penalty reverts to 3 times the next day.
I'm not sure since this has never affected me,but I never said it resets entirely, which is how your comment feels to be stating.

1 to 15 isn't that bad of a jump. If you DC because internet issues twice in less than 30 minutes you should probably take a break until you can see it settle down.
Yeah, if the internet keeps disconnecting morr than once then it's definitely advisable to take a break as you say. The penalties are still fine as is though ... although maybe the first penalty could be 5 minutes instead of 1. It still wouldn't be that major for a once only internet issue and only noticed by those who quitted just to skip.
-
@Crowman said:

The first penalty is 1 minute. 15 minutes would still good enough for most emergencies. 1 minute is practically a free dc.
15 minutes is too much for someone who dc'd because of an internet blip. The system is designed to take that into account so anyone who legitimately has an issue shouldn't really notice. The tiers are for those who are more persistent.
Still, I read somewhere it resets a tier every 24 hours, so maybe this could be looked into so if someone dc's once every day as a habit is picked up on.
-
I really don't see why. This just sounds spiteful or (and I hope this is this) just an attempt to troll.
If you are trolling, this is way better bait than most other offerings, so well done! If it's not, then .. well, the nicest thing to say is this is not going to happen so learn to deal with it.
-
I don't think increasing the penalty is the way to do it, since the current system has this allowance for people who disconnect for legitimate purposes like an emergency or power cut. Persistent disconnecting does result in much larger bans down the line.
However, I am all for a harsher punishment for continuous disconnectors and one thing which would be great is to force all serial disconnectors to play games only with other serial disconnectors. This may result in longer waits and more frustrating gameplay for them, which in turn may make them decide it's no longer worth it.
Won't stop the suiciders though. BHVR need to put something in place for those too, like remove the struggle aspect from the hook.
-
The prestige seems fairly disconnected from the performance in trials. Some P100s have been absolute dire, whilst some single-figure prestiges have been astoundingly brilliant.
It feels just a pointless addition. There will be those who say if the prestige isn't viewable you don't know whether mmr is working, but it doesn't take much to comprehend the humour in mmr.
-
What I'm expecting - but desperately hoping I'm wrong - is a load of gormless idiots filling a chat screen with: "Boring!", when DBD mobile are talking about their stuff, or just being plain rude and ignorant in places. I remember seeing that before and it was just extremely embarrassing.
-
For me, I feel matchmaking needs to be reassessed. Recently, my trials have had no consistency with who I oppose and recently I just hit a batch of disconnects. From what others have been saying, this appears to be a major concern.
-
I feel regressing either side is bad, but they need to focus on the whole picture. For example, if swf are getting more escapes than solo, balancing for solo is better to increase those escapes. If killers are getting less than 50% kill rate, then killers need to be buffed.
It's balancing in the way that swf stay as they are, and soloq and killers are brought up in the line with them. That's the way which would work best.
-
I find them quite enjoyable from both sides and they're also needed for variety. If every map was outdoor I would find that pretty dull overall. It would be nice to have a couple more indoor maps put in place.
-
I put this in the suggestions about a week ago. Auto-aim has become noticeably worse since the recent patch. I had one trial yesterday where I swung at a survivor and actually went backwards to hit the corner of a wall!
What's happened to actually cause this, I don't know. There's nothing clear in the patch notes which links to this. However, this is important enough to be fixed soon.
-
They've all got something:
The Shape: STBFL - This is a staple now. Faster recovery after hits is really effective.
The Cannibal: BBQ - The aura reading is exceptionally useful and again it's still really common.
The Nightmare: Blood Warden - Done right, this perk can have so much potential in the endgame. An oft slept-on perk.
The Pig: MYC - Can be excellent if converted into a snowball effect.
The Ghost Face: I'm All Ears - Nice aura reading perk.
The Demogorgon: Jolt - I know this is a regular perk now, but at the time and even now Jolt is a strong gen regressor.
The Executioner: Forced Penance - An unbelieveably slept-on perk that can create a lot of pressure.
The Nemesis T-Type: Lethal Pursuer - A great perk in both early game and extending on existing auras.
The Cenobite: All 3 - Each perk is excellent. If you want an all-in-one killer, this is the pick.
The Onryō: Floods of Rage - Another great aura reading perk and very useful for more mobile killers.
The Mastermind: Superior Anatomy - A fun chase perk that can really catch survivors out who mess about at vaults.

they must have run into some hardcore swfs earlier that night and took it out on you...that is some bizarre behavior
It was odd. Worse for them because they would say "You'll die when I say" and I'm replying "Not really. I'll bleed out in a bit. I'm really in control because I have the limit". They got more annoyed from that, but that was a really weird thing for them to be doing.

As survivor, I've had this happen to a degree too, I've been using Kindred with Open Handed, so far it's amazing you can see the killers aura almost anywhere, but for those couple of seconds when the survivor is screaming on the hook, I cannot see him anywhere (Open Handed really helped to counter this) I understand your complaining about this happening on the killer's side, but I though I would share this.
No, that's a really good point and shows that this circle is obstructing auras when that time could be really useful to have for both sides.

Some months ago the devs toyed with the idea of unbreakable base kit going so far as the testing stage, but it was scrapped at this point as I think they thought it would unbalance the game, slugging killers are pretty rare imo it’s a bit like going against swf bully teams I don’t think it’s a frequent enough occurrence imo to potentially unbalance the game.
Yeah, I remember that. I'm just being pre-emptive and state that if this became a trend then that's what may be a possible repercussion. As you say, it's so rare I've only ever come across this once. It's just not uncommon to see people read these things and then decide it's a good idea.

That change to inner focus would just make it much worse empathy. Also showing killer for 10s it not that much information, because even fogwise - a perk that gives consistently more info about killer is not super good (i am not saying it's bad perk, but it most certainly is not meta).
Fair comment. I guess it's just we see so many aura-reading perks that I just wanted some variation.
-
Pumpkinhead - Yes, that could absolutely work.
The Creature from the Black Lagoon - I feel the cosmetic for Hag covers this. Otherwise, not a bad suggestion at all.
Candyman - Yes, absolutely
Psycho - Possibly. I don't know how daunting Norman Bates would be as a killer though.
Frankenstein - A cosmetic sure, but don't feel that chapter would work. An original based off this idea might.
Carrie - I can't really say, honestly. By all accounts it can quite easily, but something doesn't fit right with me.
It - Oh Hell yes!!
Jeepers Creepers - Oh Hell no!!
Wolfman - Like Frankenstein, I feel an original chapter based off this concept would work better than the actual movie.
Whatever the ######### Tarman the Spider is - Don't know anything about that, but yes it definitely looks like a good killer licence.
-
It's either some sort of hack, perhaps? Otherwise it's an error you should report to BHVR; the 2 months away was because you had a massive ban prior to it which ticks down overtime; or this is made up.
Whichever it is, BHVR are the ones to speak to if you have a legitimate concern with it. They will know far more about this than anything you tell us.

Same. For a moment there I thought the OP's keyboard went faulty.
Darktide is from the Warhammer series, or so it says online. I'm guessing in the future, where it's based, spelling has been forgotten in favour of WAR!!!
-
Maybe send that to BHVR as feedback. They may try to find an alternative way and create a filter for it.
-
I roleplayed once as Pyramid Head when I saw a James Sunderland in the lobby.
However, rather than make that guy's life Hell, I just slapped on anything that would make me undetectable and stalked him through the trial (helped that it was Lery's!). Scared him a couple of times genuinely, or so they said in endgame chat, but let him go. So worth the de-pip!
-
Some time ago I had a similar match versus a Bubba, but Bubba at least had the decency at the end to hook us once we were all down.
I'm not sure how common this is otherwise, but BHVR could deal with penalising slugging then leaving on the ground to bleed out by making it reportable.
There are perks such as Unbreakable or Soul Guard which counters this but the sensible response to that is people should be able to bring perks for their playstyle and you are not going to know what happens before a trial begins.
As has been mentioned before, it's so ridiculously rare, but if this becomes more common I guarantee BHVR will bring in Unbreakable base-kit. People who play killer especially wouldn't like that, so I feel most would not want to tempt fate with such short-sightedness.

To answer your question about buckle up. No the aura read only procs on healing a dying to injured survivor not healing them to healthy. My buff made it so when you heal someone to full health you both see the killers aura. This is done to make it more versatile and work together to avoid the killer.
Ahh, I see. Thank you for clarifying.
-
Solo survivor and killer, 50/50.
As killer, I don't camp or tunnel (unless survivors are obviously nearby), so that's kinda fun. Better than stressing over a kill and those kills come naturally anyway.
My weird way of playing is actually outside of the game. I have to score 9 emblem points to go up 1 Bloodweb level, so it forces me to make every trial count.
I also use DBD Randomizer for every single trial, so all my perks, add-ons and offerings are different every time. Makes for some fun games.
So yeah, as SoloQ especially I like my trials extra hard!
-
There's a few reasons it could be that killers will sometimes do this:
1. The player is just a nob and easily upset.
2. The player had a tactic of getting a survivor out quickly, and it just so happens the first guy hooked is that target.
3. The player may have had some horrid games before this and that flashlight was the straw that broke his back.
4. The player has had a bad day. Maybe something small like they were asked to wash up and they didn't want tk, but also something big like a family member in hospital. The game is their stress release.
It's not always clear why some do it. Factors both within the game and outside of the game could cause it. Eitherway, that's not helpful to you, I appreciate. It's just worth stating some reasons.
-
Regarding toxicity, for me it's less BHVR promoting it than they're not trying to prevent it. Since it mostly is to do with endgame chat I am still unsure why they have not either a) removed endgame chat or b) extended the amount of things someone can be punished for. If someone is clearly derrogatory in endgame chat in any way it should be reportable. It should be much harsher.
However, the comment of "promoting" I don't agree with, because foor me the promoting of toxic attitudes is not to do with them but the playerbase and in particular certain streamers who live off it. There are good streamers out there who call this out, but again the attention is on those guys. It's about either being those guys or provoking those guys. This is all to do with the players and some streamers/influencers and not to do with BHVR in any way, other than they perhaps acting quicker on these creeps when they're reported.
Players have to take a major portion of the blame with toxicity.
-
Here are my thoughts on these ideas which, regardless of opinion, at least brings some interesting changes to each perk.
Corrective Action: I can see this being too strong in relation with other perks such as Hyperfocus. At the same time, the change itself would be better if earnt. So I'd propose a survivor with this perk starts with 0 tokens and can gain 3/4/5 tokens. They gain the tokens by hitting a "true" great skillcheck. That is to say a great skillcheck in the small white bar only. Stake Out does not work with this perk. This may even bring some reason to bring "This is not happening", so opens another avenue for another weak perk.
Inner Focus sounds okay, but maybe too much killer info? Rather than reveal the killer's aura and keeping in line with the perk, perhaps show the injured survivor aura instead. It still gives infornation, but won't show the killer's direction after the hit. Prevents survivors from knowing if it's a hit n' run or not. I'd give a cooldowb for that particular effect also.
Red Herring: I like this a lot. It has a cooldown and could even be used as a distraction technique at the expense of a small loss of progression. This would be a fun change. Nice work!
Self-Preservation: Again, it's a good change to increase the radius and can be used with other perks to quickly go in for a save or protectiin with less of a chance to be noticed. No issue with rhis at all.
Buckle Up: Forgive me, but isn't this like this already? Minus the bit of you being healed? To be honest, I feel Buckle Up is okay for now, so I suppose your change idea is good because it's already been buffed to that.
Poised. Again, another good change which allows a little more control and tactics with this ability.
Overall, some nice changes!

Because every other person that leaves the game out of frustration deserves any less sympathy? People get to high MMR as killer and then ragequit out of frustration not because they're bad at the game but because playing killer at higher MMR is completely and totally unfair. I for one am sick of these developers adding more and more characters into the game and not addressing the core gameplay issues that have been around since the start.
Any others who leave this game just moaning and groaning leaving the forum deserves less sympathy? Yes! Quite a few people who leave don't leave because the game is bad but they are bad, or an style they liked got nerfed.
People don't even know what mmr they are!! A better killer may be mid mmr and the survivor just had a boosted opinion of themself. Oh, sorry - I forgot everyone is top 1% mmr. My bad.
This game has faults and some leave because they no longer enjoy it, but others don't have the sense to just leave because they want easy mode and cannot get it, or play in a way which means they are reliant on perks and not skill. Sorry, but those who leave this forum with a post of moaning and crying have no sympathy from me. Someone who just isn't enjoying the game but leaves wishing others well does. Attitude is important for any respect they get.
-
My personal belief is that the vast majority of the negativity surrounding the game has not nearly as much to do with the product as it does with the consumers.
The factions for a start are very childlike. You're either killer-sided or survivor-sided. Should you choose to be down the middle you'll be largely ignored. It's "us v them" mostly and people like to be forth-right, rude often unresearched because apparently the devs are biased (despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary).
The elitism is bad too. You may have noticed nearly all the forum is in the top 1% mmr. Doesn't matter it's all lip-service here, everyone else is a n00b and they have to shift through the dirt. The fragile-egos are cringeworthy at best.
Many do not care about other players without realising the consequences. These "band-aid" fixes often come about due to playstyles, which may be some quick-fix scheme but often comes off the backs of how people are playing.
It's sad and I could go into way more detail, but my belief is that, when the game does end, it's more likely players will be the cause, not the devs. The devs make mistakes sure, but some of the playerbase would be by far the main reason.
