It's not just the killer viability which wins games; it's skill, knowledge, luck, tactics, mindgames, playstyle and pressure. Nurse and Blight are useless of the person playing them is inexperienced with them, especially if the survivors are skilled.
-
It's just showing the difference between us lowly humans and the Entity: we are happy polluting the planet, whilst the Entity is eco-friendly as uses electricity.
Who is the bad guy, really?
-
This change doesn't feel like it's meant as a punishment, moreover it's a response to a very unenjoyable and problematic mechanic in-game.
It's also self-inflicted because it was clearly common enough to cause such issues and the idea of "Your fun is not my concern" has clearly proven that it is everyone's concern, otherwise things get removed.
Anyway, the change won't stop proxy camping and instances where camping is either all there is or unavoidable (EGC and survivors swarming the hook) have been taken into account. This is a fair change.

CryptTV and Netflix are not related
I wasn't sure what the link was. Guess it just stuck in my head for some reason. Thanks for clarifying.

They seem to have no connection to the Netflix
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crypt_TV
That's the one! I thought Crypt TV was on Netflix, but as I said I'm a bit ignorant of that whole thing, so am not surprised I got that wrong. Thank you for clarifying!
-
At least the team have been trying and no doubt will try again when conditions are more fortuitous. My question is that if it is Netflix which are the issue, how come those 3 skins from that horror series (cannot remember the name, but Doctor, Hag and Hubtress each got a legendary) remain, because aren't they Netflix also? Or have I missed something?
-
Certainly it shouldn't be the case that the gates should spawn so close together, but neither should they be ridiculously far apart. There needs to be a steady medium to the spawns so both sides have an opportunity.
Sadly, you'll rarely find gate spawns which are 100% balanced. That's just the nature of the game. However, it perhaps needs to remove the extremes.

Everyone is just laughing at your opinions. Take another 30 minutes to come up some more bad takes.
Everyone? Yeah, nah just you I think. I don't mind debating with people who offer a counter-argument, but trolls are pretty worthless and arguing with idiotic ones is never a win-win. You clearly have nothing of value to add other than whining so hope you don't mind me ending this little ... whatever it was ... with you.
-
This is a concern I have, but not so much because of BHVR doing a good thing, moreover that some players who only face-camp will do this out of spite.
What may happen as a result is - if this becomes the norm (which I hope it doesn't) - BHVR will see this and Unbreakable basekit will come in. People need to be a bit more responsible fpr their own actions.

So what you are saying is that 2-3 gens popping early into the match is because the survivors have more skill? How? It is literally just holding the interact buttton. There isn't any skill required. Also, slugging is a dead strategy already, unless your killer has the mobility to utilize it. Using the math I presented is how most matches go for killer players. You should watch some killer player streams to really see it. DBD is an incredibly basic game to play, with not many variables to it, so saying that this wont be how every match goes is only because the survivors you are facing are not prioritizing their main objective.
Another thing, the math presented clearly does not require any RNG, mistakes, or luck... Just running away in a straight line when you hear the TR.
Absolutrly it means skill and I reckon you've proved to me why you're havibg problems and that is the skill doesn't come from gens, but how a survivor held you long enough as killer in chase to get those gens done. It's about the chase and map pressure, so again if you have not got a down after 2-3 gens, then either the survivor you were in a chase with was way more skilled or you made some really bad choices. The fact you thought I was refering to doing gens as skill clearly shows a big error in how you are looking at things. A killer has to multitask, know when to stop a chase to checks gens and so on.
Again, the maths involved which you're refering to is just about exhaustion perks. This does not reflect in the slightest how a game will ultimately go. A killer can learn to catch them at other points in other ways. It's too niche and the game is more complex than you make it out to be. If it wasn't, then there would be far less difference in skill and abilities.
-
It was a very positive stream and I was quite impressed they looked at all the current issues, such as map reworks, bots, camping and such. People like jumping to conclusions, bit if theu can avoid the mistakes of their last chapter amd carry throigh all these ones successfully, the future is very bright.
-
My belief is that face-camping promotes laziness and those killers who do often struggle as they climb up the strange MMR ladder we have because they are just not good enough. It's rarer than not to have 2-3 gens go before the first down. That's often because of either a) a series of mistakes and bad judgements by the killer or b) the killer has been placed against survivors who are vastly better than they are.
Camping close to the hook is used in competitions, which is one of the main reasons why watching those matches are so bloody boring. The tournaments are snoozefests, but I do feel that changes to the rules and removing conditions of winning from kills to hooks would vastly improve both skill and watchability. This change may make those games more enjoyable.
Also, whilst maths is interesting to look at, using maths to assume how trials go does not taken into account the rng, luck, skills, mistakes or anything else that happens in a trial, so whilst there is a formula that could be used in theory, it is far rarer for this to be what actually happens because of the randomness. Too many variables for any form of mathematics to accurately predict what will happen.
What I fear will happen is that, rather than those killer plauers learnibg and enjoying to improve their skill, they may then go to the next lazy tactic: slugging . Again, in some situations where survivors are too altruistic, slugging is fine because the opportunity is there to punish exceptionally dumb plays. However, I can see the lazier killers just knock all survivors down and bleed out in "protest". This will absolutely lead to Unbreakable basekit.
Basically, if players start playing with empathy in mind that their opponents are human, then it's far less likely changes like these are needed. However, this change really won't affect my killer plaus, since camping bores the ######### out of me and I like a challenge.

There was absolutely NOTHING mentioned for killer gameplay or accessibility improvements!
Let’s review the scoreboard:
Survivor gameplay and accessibility improvements:
1) Survivor HUD
2) Visual Terror Radius
3) Anti-facecamping
4) DC Survivor bots
Killer gameplay and accessibility improvements:
0) Absolutely nothing!!!!!!!
1. The survivor HUD is made to help SoloQ with regards to communication. It doesn't really do anything for swf and helps a communication aspect that was sadly lacking from SoloQ, without giving away too much (where on the map they are, for example). This made sense overall as quality of life.
2. Visual Terror Radius helps hard of hearing and, from trying it as survivor, adds barely any extra help for people who do not need it. It's an aid for hearing.
3. Anti-facecamping is an absolute must and punishes the low-effort killer players who aren't that good. A kid could face-camp and get kills. The team also said this meter they're introducing will slow dramatically if survivors swarm it and once the gayes are powered the meter is cancelled entirely, so the one and only time face-camping can be a reasonable play is not affected. Really, you have to be an inadequate player to rely on this. Most players who are even half-decent as killer don't need to fall on this dumb issue. So glad they fixed this.
4. As a killer, I HATE survivors who dc early because they have a hissy fit. The game just feels like a chore to get to a more competitive game. The bots give the other sirvivors a bit more of a chance and makes the game involving for killer. A bot is not likely to be a god-tier player, so whilst it helps survivors out, likewise it's not like the killer now has to face a ninja.
As for what killers have had: 10 seconds extra to gens, quicker recovery on hits and breaking items, nerfs to perks like Dead Hard. Others as well which I may not have to mind currently. Also, the road map can have changes at anu point and in relation to what is happening in-game.
Basically, killers and survivors get buffs and nerfs to their playstyle all the time. It's been proven time and time and time again that the devs are not any-sided and BHVR often reacts to trends. Tunnelling got bad? They introduced BT. Dead Hard way too overused? Nerfed. Gens going too fast? Added time to it.
Whilst I understand it may frustrating to not hear anything about killer changes, maybe it's because currently there isn't a reason to and future game-play changes will react to what is happening at the time. I'm certain if something becomes too abused from the survivor side, it too will change. The game constantly evolves. Players need to evolve with it.

Lady Dimitrescu for RE chapter 3!!
Only kidding. I'm hoping maybe there will be a "The Evil Within" chapter, but whatever it is I'm looking forward to it. Maybe the individual killer chapter could even be Art the Clown, since there was a very vocal request by his creator to add Art to the roster.
I'd hope an "Alien" chapter is an anniversary special, rather than a chapter inbetween. So long as it's not "Jeepers Creepers", most ideas would be very welcome.
-
Ormand absolutely needs a hook upstairs, even if just one. I can't think of any other map with a building of two floors that doesn't have a hook, so I'm still confused why Ormand is the exception.
This has been mentioned in feedback a few times - including myself - so it's unlikely they have not seen at least one of those requests.
-
Yeah, there have been some, which might be partially because of "Tools of Torment" (understandable), the midchapter update (which was great, but some had a hissy fit over) and also because nothing much was happening in the world of DBD for a while. It went all quiet for a while, so people sought to try new games.
-
Buff the Trapper.
Rework add-ons for the Executioner
Nerf the Nurse
Remove the Skull Merchant

There are a fair few reasons, but one in particular is the anonymity the internet offers. The belief nobody will ever find them is a major factor in being a wanker.
Different reasons link around ideas of immaturity, having a bad day, revenge and some others, but anonymity is the basic building blocks for being a troll. It's why those people are usually insecure.
-
No. Killers don't slug more because of Deliverence. They slug for pressure, opportunity, just being spiteful, taking advantage of poor survivor plays and similar reasons, yet never because of a single perk.
Deliverence is not an issue and the link between Deliverence and slugging is very weak at best.
-
I have no real issue with any map and none I'd feel silly enough to skip just because.
The only map which bores me rigid is Rotten Fields. That map is the most uninspired design in the game. Even less popular maps are at least interesting or the scenery can be appreciated. Rotten Fields has absolutely nothing worth of value to it.
Sheltered Woods was the same, but the update with the last chapter actually made it a more interesting map to traverse.
-
I let it wash over me when it does happen. Today I met a rather bad-tempered Clown who tunnelled (not toxic!), camped (again, not toxic!) whilst whacking me repeatedly on the hook (yeah, that's the grey area) but ultimately in-game toxicity is really not an issue. More funny than anything.
The toughest bit is the endgame chat which can become very nasty for some. Threats, requests to #########, general being a twat is difficult and everyone is affected in some way - even the ones who claim they don't, because the way anyone reacts is to use a technique to protect themselves.
The best way I found is to accept how you feel about it and do not engage. It helps reduce the impact of extreme insults because you come to terms with it quicker. Then leave and forget them (once you report them). No need to converse since the people at BHVR who deal with those issues will do the talking, but if they are really serious like threats to you or your family, don't be affraid to contact the authorities as that's really not acceptable.
In short, just move on. Getting embroiled will only make it worse and far more consuming. If ever I'm in a conversation with somebody online who starts acting like a wanker to me, I will just move on and ignore any comments they make (just mark it as "read" - I don't need to see it. I end up forgetting about it quickly anyway, but it is different for everyone. Just sharing what helps me.
-
The internet has made people much colder when it comes to how we treat others. It's that anonymous safe screen. You see how many insult MMA and boxers online because of this, because I guarantee they would not have the balls to do it in person. It's all over, sadly. Humans are devolving into a species of vanity and self-importance, losing much of the empathy.
When it comes to DBD, the playerbase (I try not to use the word "community", because it's hard to see that side often) is more at fault than the makers. Granted, BHVR have messed up in the past (the "Tools of Torment" chapter and the whole NFT debacle as examples).
Yet the playerbase has been far worse: Racism with the Bubba masks, endgame messages wanting people to die, attacks on people purely for wearing the LGBTQ+ charms, the BHVR anniversary streams where people just type "Boring!" And such consistently whilst some people are sharing their plans, the numerous amount of bad ideas for how to change the game, the side-picking, the wanting changes - getting changes - then complaining about those changes.
There are many players who are nice and I've had lovely endgame chats with them! Then again, they don't get mentioned as much because people prefer drama to feel-good stuff. There's a few psychological reasons why which I won't bore you with and you probably know anyway, but drama and self-importance currently is often what people are attracted to.
-
DCing is a selfish act in general, although if it's because of an emergency at home or an internet issue then it's understandable.
However, quitting because they aren't having fun just messes it up for everyone. There is no "sometimes" when it comes to the negative impact on others; it is always negative.
Maybe if people who disconnect regularly are forced to only be able to play with people who do the same, perhaps they'll understand how unfair and weak it is.

That is unofficial news, right?
Hard to believe the date shown there is real given how soon it is.
Unofficial maybe. Some influencers have marked this and if it is true it's a cool poster! Plus, with the Nicolas Cage reveal (albeit that's for July), this may signal the start of their hype train.
-
He could only be a paragraph; his name alone is an absolute magnet!
He may not even be playable OR if he is playable, he may look like Nicolas Cage, but perhaps his likeness and voice are for a major character in lore, like maybe Benedict or Vigo?
Whatever it is, kudos to BHVR. This is a big win for them!
-
Oh my goodness, think of the MEMES!!!!
4 Nicholas Cages in a lobby and when the match starts they find Pyramid Head. They all advance: "Now, see how you like our Cage of atonement!"
-
There are a couple of killers that would be good: 1. The Keeper - I can see it as a cross between Trapper and Onryō, with some extra bits on the way; 2. Stefano Valentini (with Obscura) - A killer who uses either the camera to repeat actions of the player, then uses it to block a player from reusing the existing vaults, or summons Obscura, which will stalk, blind and take down other survivors. Either can work as The Twins, or have Obscura as AI.
-
A anticheat system very much works on the basis of codes. It can be made to identify irregularities which respond to those cheats and stop them.
However, cheat creators will be constantly trying to update their coding and will develop new code which effectively will do the same type of action, but otherwise be completely unidentifiable to anticheat softwate. Once these cheats are discovered, the people who do the anticheat will update it and the process repeats in circles again.
Basically, anticheat is always playing catchup. The only time this may change is if AI is developed so that it constantly learns to identify new code and acts quicker. Until then, this will always be the way. That's why the number of cheats about comes in waves, then lulls. It's why somebody's antivirus has to be constantly updated. It's how it is currently.
-
In a match where I got 2k, the other 2 made it to the gates. Probably because it had been such a good match from both sides, the Claudette waved for me to do a chainsaw hit to push them out. I was Hillbilly. I lined it up. I missed a non-moving target. We just looked at each other in disbelief before she left. Her respect for me was both earnt, then lost, in a single moment.
-
I'd hate that. It's been suggested a few times and each time the main responses have been either enjoying solo because there are no voice comms, or the simple facr some turd will just be shouting abuse or whatever. Maybe blasting some grime in the background.
Even if the option was there to ignore it, people would just decide to troll the one who chooses not to join in, regardless. So, basically people who prefer to play solo will possibly be trolled by other players just because of this.
The simplest thing to do is just find some people who want to play swf and join them. Besides, with the amount of people here complaining they're always with "potatoes", I doubt potatoes even exist.

oh... I see what you were saying now. I misread--thought you were saying there is currently a build up, via the silence. You were acknowledging that there is historically a build-up after we receive the announcement.
I'm scratching my head how I misread you now, because you literally said "To just throw an announcement on the day would be rather poor advertising." LOL 🤦♂️
Well, even if you believed the silence was building hype and anticipation, I'm not really one to tell you wrong.
BHVR might believe the silence will work in their favor, once they actually reveal what it is they've been working on/have planned.
It's fine. I probably ought to be more specific in future.
There was something on DBDnews about the new chapter poster, but I didn't see it on Twitter last time I checked, so maybe that's a bit of a red herring?
-
It's like walking into a pop concert!
-
Someone said it's been announced for May 23rd. Can't see anything on the website though. Poster looks neat though!
Edit: Actually, just found it: https://twitter.com/DbdNewsReal
-
Most of mine are fun. There's the occasional dud, but mostly the trials are very enjoyable.
-
The two aren't linked. Some killers will tunnel or camp without any provocation. Some survivors will BM at the exit without provocation. It's a chicken-and-egg scenario.
These things are done for any number of reasons and other than the grey area of teabagging at a gate, if a survivor emotes or teabags during a game then it's clearly a tactic.
All individuals have responsibility to "be the change you want to see".

idk if I'd call it build up.
Short notice about an anniversary livestream for a game as successful as DBD feels more like negligence.
They could be creating "build up" by teasing images the entire month of May, creating CTA's for fan-art, cosplays, etc., and post weekly reminders about the upcoming live stream.
The silence gives me the impression there is little planned for the livestream, and that it isn't something BHVR feels players should be getting excited for. Why should I tune into the anno stream if BHVR isn't doing everything they can to make sure I know when it is and what it will cover?
Just to make my point a little clearer, when I said "build up" I meant it in reference to previous anniversaries there was a build up of sorts: teasers, images such as you refered to and so on.
If anything, perhaps the anniversary livestream could be even later than we think. Or maybe the silence is somehow a part of this one (albeit I'd question how would that even be a good idea!).
-
I'd say both. The Entity has developed these trials and intrinsically linked the gates to the generators. However, in the early tutorial there was a quote in the killer tutorial where the Entity whispers say: "Don't let the light in!", which suggested some urgency. The light does seem to affect the Entity as it's blinded by flashlights (can't see through the eues of the killer).
The stickler comes with the hatch. If one survivor is left and the hatch closes, the gates can be activated without the gens being completed. Yet, the hatch was not Entity-made, but rather created by Vigo as an alternate escape. This seems to bigger up the system, which is why I'm not wholly believing the idea the Entity has complete control.

They would need to make some kind of announcement at least a week prior to the stream surely…? Like.. it’s their big live stream, anniversary, etc, they wouldn’t just drop it öile that?
Exactly. There's a build up, which leads me to think it would be next week at the earliest. To just throw an announcement on the day would be rather poor advertising.
-
Killer bans is a really bad idea on a few levels, such as waiting times, challenges and just unfun for people who want to play that killer. It would never be popular enough to ever go through, nor would it be healthy for the game.
The map idea is less problematic, but if this was to be implimented it should be via an offering which prevents this instead. Ironically, if all the current map offerings were changed from "highest chance of" to "lowest chance of", then it may be better overall in terms of fairness.
At the same time, I'd also make it that if the offering is used twice in a row, then the percentage of that offering working again reduces to srop repeat offerings. That's maybe overkill though.
-
I'm gonna make a wild(ish) guess and say it will happen next week. I would have thought they would advertise their livestream a few days in advance. We'll see tomorrow, or maybe it won't be held until Wednesday, but I'm thinking they'd need a build-up of sorts.
I can't remember what it was like last year though.
-
I liked killers with weaknesses like that, both to play as and against, because it got you to think.
It's also something that was rarely complained about. My guess is perhaps a dev wanted to play as Wraith, had a bad game and thought: "Right! I'm removing this crap right away!".
-
For killer, the "Meh, I didn't want to heal anyway!" build: Sloppy Butcher, Coulrophobia, Septic Touch, Deathbound
For survivor, the "Yeah, nah, F you" build: Self-Preservation, Red Herring, Distortion, Diversion
-
It's the healthy way to play it! Becoming too engrossed in any game can become rather bad for your mental health.
-
Yes, the game would be fine. There are quite a few reasons to support this, but the glaringly obvious reason is there is no other competition up to their level.
In my mind, the closest contender (which is still miles off) is "Last Year". It's made a recent return and it's different ways of escaping with each different map and experimenting with a non-humanoid killer (the spider) shows it might have potential to do well in its own right and offer an alternative to a degree. However, DBD has much above it currently. There's no concerns of this game any time soon.
However, a bad anniversary may close a gap for any potential rival in the near future.
-
I had one survivor who did that .. ran into the corner of a map where they knew no hooks were (because I had used the only viable one to sacrifice another and 3 of the 4 brought the oak offerings). I tried to hook them and the wriggled out and ran back to the same part. I then slugged them and left them to bleedout whilst I chased the other remaining one. They were then pissed about it for some reason. Self-fulfilling prophecy.
I think it's more to do with hook placements. They ought to be looked into more. I meam, how long is Ormand goibg to be hookless on the second floor for?
-
I'd be okay with a basekit unbreakable which ONLY activates if the killer has downed all survivors and has not hooked any after a certain period of time. Certainly not as a general basekit perk though, since it would invalidate Unbreakable and Soul Guard entirely.
A suicide button could be in place if there is only one survivor left and is downed and left by the killer for a period of time. Certainly not if there's more than one survivor remaining.
This is rare that this happens, so any defence has to be as inobtrusive as possible for general gameplay. Only if this becomes more common would stronger measures be considered.
-
If they did do a Grudge chapter in future, this cat-sounding freak would need to be part of Kayako's power.
However, Kayako also has that weird crawling ability and chaetokinesis (hair manipulation), so she could have some rather interesting powers alongside meowboy.
