I personally have never understood why killers can see the lobby prestige and item load out. I’ve heard the arguments that killer needs to be able to prepare against the team but, would that not also cut both ways?
I just think it would be more fair all round and lead to less lobby dodging if neither survivors or killers could see each other in lobby beforehand.
I'm quite happy just to forego the whole lobby and just jump straight in!
Although I can see some merit for killers seeing the survivor items (which can also be countered by survivors by switching at the last minute, so it can become a double-edged sword), I just do not understand the point of Prestige being shown. It's mostly irrelevant (I've had P100s obliterated, whilst P0 really cause problems), and seems there solely for bragging rights, excuses for dodging, targeting and elitism. They being there doesn't bring anything positive to the lobby that I've noted to be even slightly positive.
-
I wish the bloodpoint score was visible. The build is definitely about stealth, no question. If they were to be just hiding all game then that would be a pain, but seeing the score would give a better indication of how much they participated. I've seen such builds for players who worked well as a team.
-
I remembered mine this week, and it was bloody tasty, thank you!

We'll be releasing our Hotfix 1 tomorrow! The update will address some known issues including players not correctly receiving the Endurance status effect, and the generator count being reduced when a Survivor leaves the tally screen whilst the Trial is ongoing. Thanks for your patience while the information was confirmed.
Thank you, and I really do appreciate your time to let us know. That is indeed good news.👍

Hello, I can confirm that the Hotfix is not coming out today.
Thank you. When can it be expected to drop?
-
I suppose it's primarily used as an endgame ranking.
It's true the Entity feeds off emotion, but it has designed the rules of the trial for a purpose best suited to meet its ends. It passively feeds off emotions, but perhaps the hooks are where it digests the most "nutrition" - that final, dying panic of knowing they will die probably fires off so much fear, that it's the most substantial nutrition the Entity gets. Like a power-packed punch of energy.
It's got billions of people inside the realms, and judging by it's power it needs a lot of nutrition. According to scientists, it needs 60% of the total available nutrition within to maintain and grow :D. It's different to, say, the Entities in The Magnus Archives, which are content to feed passively. The Entity here needs as much emotion as it can.
-
I agree it is rather absurd. What's weirder is that you still hear the killers' lines, so it's not a case of "You need to buy it to benefit from it". It's all rather muddled.
-
They're both good QoL options! I'd be for them. I don't think I've seen any killer running Unrelenting for a long time - as an example - and unless it appears in the randomizer, it's not likely to get much use.
As for the shop, it would be a great alternative way of doing it. Maybe each week some perks can be featured and cost less whilst, with the newest perks costing more for those who want it but don't want the character.
Great ideas, both of them.
-
I'd prefer this over the idea another gave of keeping the current, multiple gen completion glitch as some sort of perk.
-
I cannot see how this would be a good addition to the game. Punish the killer by giving a free, undeserved generator for the survivors, when a killer has managed to eliminate a survivor. Nothing about this seems balanced.
Since most games when I've faced a killer they haven't tunnelled, for them to spread the hooks before finally earning a deserved kill, only to see 2 gens go instead of one .. it's just not right at all.
-
In answer to your question, it's down to many factors which may include: streak, mistake, bugs, feeling of unfairness, issues at home, fortitude, boredom, childishness, and a host of other things.
It's something that has too many factors, which we can only guess as to the reason why. What I've noticed - from what reasons people give on various forums - is it appears morr to do with what happened in that specific trial. That appears more commonly than any other reason.
-
It's the Cenobite for me. Those chains that can slow you down are incredibly annoying. The fact the inputs can get very fidgety around pallets or vaults. It's just not an enjoyable time.
I still play on though, and I've beaten my fair share of Pinheads, but it doesn't change that feeling of regret when I find out the Cenobite is my potential killer.
-
Regarding the self-hooks issue, the simplest way around that problem is to keep the unhook attempts, but a failed unhook does not result in a reduction of the timer.
Of course, it's been said many times in this thread, but if someone doesn't want to play, they'll find a way around it somehow. Best thing you can do is report anything that looks like the player is throwing the game with video evidence. If people dod that then - sure - one report isn't going to do much, but if the same person is repeatedly having reports against them with video evidence to prove a pattern of behaviour, the BHVR may be able to do more about it.
-
I've been very lucky (or unlucky, since most recent matches I've been survivor) to not come across these glitches. I did have one where the gen was repaired, but making a sound as if it wasn't completed yet, so I don't know what that's about.
However, clearly this is happening and I hope they get this fixed a.s.a.p for those who have experienced enough of this.
-
I like the idea of Homelander as a killer, especially now we have the Mark of Negation in play.
His perks look decent, and to have another multi-tooled killer which adds a new effect (the blurred vision) and brings back an old, rarely-used effect (Deafness) makes it feel like he could be fun. Maybe tune him down a bit, but otherwise he sounds interesting!
Ironically, the only thing I disagree with is the lore aspect of him coming to the fog. The Entity doesn't need to negotiate because it can just take him. Sounds a bit like a happy family event, which I'm not sure that it works. It would be more interesting if it used an illusionary Ryan to lure him in, and him viewing the survivors as Ryan's kidnappers. The Entity would get more out of tormenting Homelander mentally than giving him a happy ending.
-
I'm not sure there is a great deal more they can do. They present road maps and PTBs, as well as their plans weeks in advance, which gives time to prepare players for what's going to happen.
The only thing they can do is to make sure every single change is warned in advance. Sometimes, they'll sneak extras in with the live version which maybe could be brought up earlier.
-
I actually like a few of the Add-on quotes, as they can be so often overlooked. Here are my favourites:
"I see no salvation in the rot" - Garden of Rot - The Artist
"Bring me another slice of the girl" - Grandma's Heart - The Hag
"Death is only the beginning" - Summoning Stone - The Blight
"In a wasteland of forgotten dreams and endless routine, the man with a way out is God" - Vigo's Journal - The Blight
"They all want to know who Ghost Face is. But what they should ask is: who is next?" - Driver's License - The Ghost Face
"HELLO WORLD" - Iridescent Crystal Shard - The Singularity
"You called death to your door the instant you done me wrong" - Jaw Smasher - The Deathslinger
"There won't be nothing to fear soon. 'Til then, fear me" - Barbed Wire - The Deathslinger
"Deals made in desperation are paid for in madness" - Iridescent Coin - The Deathslinger
"It doesn't matter who I am. I'm here for you, James - Leopard-Print Fabric - The Executioner
"The Cenobites gave me an experience beyond limits. Pain and pleasure, indivisible" - Slice Of Frank - The Cenobite
"No tears, please. It's a waste of good suffering" - Original Pain - The Cenobite
"We have such sights to show you" - Engineer's Fang - The Cenobite
"Words won't work on this thing" - Zombie Heart - The Nemesis
"This is not how I imagined my first day" - Broken Recovery Coin - The Nemesis
"If a father sacrifices not for his children, then who does he father?" - Blackened Toenail - The Oni
"Though Death is focused, he has been known to blink" - Rotting Rope - The Oni
-
It would need to work differently, because the survivors would just have a field day whilst the killer desperately tries an incantation.
What might work is the circle could be used as a place for delivering blood. After hitting survivors a set amount of time, you can travel to the basement to present a blood offering, which in turns grants you a benefit. That would be something that - when I play as a killer - I'd like to do. A bit like gramps from the TCM game..
-
There's an argument to be made that Distortion could be a team perk, because you need to watch out for yourself before you can look after anyone else. Sometimes, using it allows a player to get into better positions to make a save.
There are other perks which can be used in selfish ways. For example, Bond could be used to see who is being chased nearby, in order to move away.
Ultimately, people who use it are using it for their own protection, but I've noted those who use it to help the team. As Dwight's quote goes: "I need you to survive so that I can survive"

That sounds as most map dependant killer in the game to me.
I think that's why I'd want each pounce to be even longer than the last. I'm not thinking his current pounce - I'm thinking much further. Besides, rocks, barrels .. any junk could be used as a spring for Victor.
There's enough clutter about that Victor could use.
-
A Pip is good enough for me to get the win. Although recently a 3-4k I call an emphatic win. It's just that you cannot control the skills of your opponents, so sometimes you may be the Premier League taking on some village in the arse-end of nowhere and at other times you become the village team taking on the Premier Team, so it's best to determine how you feel you did in comparison at the end.
I have been taking results recently of my games and based on 31 games I've "won" 24 of them and drawn twice. But in the end it's about how you feel you did at the end. So long as you feel good by the end, then that's the main thing.
-
He's a killer and comes from a world where horror is pretty common, and bloodshed is plenty. I don't see any good reason not to include him.
-
I can imagine The Deathslinger having some amazing Spaghetti-Western themed lines.
-
Vecna is the strongest. It's possible the Mark of Negation only limits his powers within the realm, but he can leave at any time. Vecna appears to even have constructed a laboratory in the depths of those ruins where he spends his time studying the realm.
The Cenobite is close behind, but he doesn't have the intellect of The Lich to understand, nor the magic to harness. The Cenobite also has no Mark of Negation which implies to me The Entity doesn't see it as a threat to the realms.
The Lich has time on his side. Once he understands the Auric Cells, The Lich will become an extreme threat.
-
Seems fine to me! The Mark of Negation opens up some interesting avenues for more extremely powerful beings to enter the fog.
Personally, I'd love to see Homelander make an appearance. He's about as sadistic as they come and probably will have one of the highest kill counts of any Killer. I could imaging the VA would be hilarious too.
-
He absolutely could do with some legendary skins to feature others from The Evil Dead catalogue. There's no shortage of characters to choose from.
-
Sorry to hear you had a crap session recently. Unfortunately, there's not much to be done other than reporting those critters and hoping a ban is put in place. There's very little to be done about changing those people because of the anonymity of the internet and whatever life-situation they're in now. An online counselling session across Discord between two players is certainly out of the question.
Sometimes, you can turn bitter people around from annoyance to cordial (I managed to do that today, but they weren't nearly as nasty as your examples), but whilst time is wasted talking about how bad they are, not much is said about those on the receiving end. Even with a thick skin, threats of murder and violence against close ones still can get under it. More of a spotlight needs to be shone on who the victims are.
-
The report system does need a strong rehash. You'll probably be shocked to find out this is actually a significant improvement from what it used to be!
They do need to find a much less time-consuming alternative to what's in place now. Players would like to spend time getting into the trials, instead pf spending a not insignificant amount of time writing report. Heck, I do it enough in my job already.

Yeah, he's actually pretty clunky in a lot of ways, and a lot of PH players don't even play him that well.
I like to play as PH because getting blind, through walls anticipation/prediction hits with potd is one of the most gratifying things in the game for me. But he takes time to charge his power, and to cancel it.
I don't struggle all that much against him because I am intimately familiar with his limitations. I feel like this is true of most killers; the best way to counter killers is to understand them (which really requires playing as them a fair bit).
And his builds are all the same because his add-ons suck out out loud aside from the two range ones. His add-on set is pretty easily the worst in the game, imo. He desperately needs a major add-on pass; the one reason I don't play him a lot more is because of the lack of options.
That's right about how best tp understand them. Understanding their strengths and weaknesses makes it far less daunting when facing them.
-
I dunno, he has counters and - having played him a fair bit - he's a clunky killer, and with that understanding he's mamageable.
Regarding faking a vault, if he can cancel and M1 at that point, then any killer can as it must be close. If anything, Pyramid Head would take a tiny bit longer as he has to cancel the action before the M1. The vault is the weak point for the survivor.
His Punishment of the Damned will show the markings before the wave attack as a guidance, but as Pyramid Head he's not as agile, so it's not a case of quickly switching trajectory to get a hit like, say, Huntress. Understanding this helps a lot.
Everyone has killers they have problems with. Mine is the Wraith and - whilst I always seem to have difficulties with him - others may find him quite simple, so this certainly isn't a "shaming" comment. It's moreso to advise that playing him will show you he has weaknesses. A Nurse, he ain't.

Most of the time, with the exception of the Skull Merchant's original design. That was terrible. Recent memory has been the best though. My trials have felt much more enjoyable.
-
I have had a partial ability in my head for a while based on Nikola Orzinov from The Magnus Archives, where her power builds up until it reaches her top power, which is to make every player and killer look the same, with very few animations, so that it's hard to tell one from the other, and also have hallucinations of other mannequins running around. Everybody - including the killer - looks identical.
It's based off "The Unknowing" ritual, which I felt dealt with a shapeshifting ability that isn't so easy for players to tell one from the other, even in a swf (although there may be somw leeway).

On top of the low likelihood of winning, there's also the fun factor to consider. About a week ago, I got hard tunneled by a Wraith. But the teammates were extremely gen-efficient, and I was lucky enough to keep him busy long enough. However, I still got frustrated enough after my second hook to DC. But I just happened to stay on the tally screen long enough to see that the Killer DC'd afterwards.
Did we counter tunneling and win that match? Yes. However, that didn't make the match any more fun. The teammates were likely bored out of their minds while they busted out the gens.
I had fun. In fact, the other Xbox player also seemed to enjoy it. It's not all mythical, as rare as it is. It's more about the character of those willing to fight through which tells a great story and makes the trial rewarding. Those moments make the game for me: a good story with people not eager to give up easily.

If a Killer eliminates a Survivor at five gens, the game is not winnable, period. A single mistake from a single Survivor can doom the match, and that is why so many Survivors give up early.
Just for context, yesterday a survivor went down and gave up before any gen was done. 3 survivors and 5 gens. 2 of us escaped against an aggressive Pig.
It's difficult, but not impossible to survive. It depends on a lot of things and is certainly very rare. Not impossible though.
-
My headcannon is that the gunk works two-fold:
1. It's a gunk which weakens you in a similar way that you see the weird, warped holes in the cinema complex, which is why it downs you ultimately.
2. The gunk has a chemical which makes you obsessed with it in "needing to know" what it is. It's why you keep staring at it. Before it's abduction, this kit of the Unknown acted in a way of luring people to their doom, and was probably spread in more subtle ways than a giant lurgee ball. After the abduction, the Entity tampered with this, turning it into a weaker adaptation and using the chemical as a way for survivors to escape, whilst keeping that "need to know".
Basically, the Entity has altered it's initial lure into a projectile and mechanic, when before the chemical was less noticeable in the real world, and the gunk was mostly used for dissolving the victim, absorbing them (such as the mori shows) then using their genetics to create a fleshy, spiralled outer-shell.
-
An improved anti-cheat system, which can detect anomalies either in game or with log-ins, so as to create a more robust and reassuring environment players can enjoy and feel more secured.
-
A pip's good enough for me! So long as I'm getting higher in the grades then I'll presume that I'm doing well enough. My competition is with myself, not whether I escape/ kill 'em all.
Funnily enough, just focusing on that fairly often results in those outcomes, but having such stringently imposed rules on myself (such as "I must escape!" or "I need 3-4k to win!") just sets a player up for failure and feeling they are bad.
-
There's a maturity issue too. It is possible to play to win and enjoy doing so, thereby being respectful in victory. I play for BP more than anything, and in fact any actual crazy game full of laughs was had where I ultimately let them all escape via a slug race, yet still got around 200k BP. I've "won" trials decisively and not earnt nearly as much!
Take the games as is, but always treat others as you wish to be treated yourself. As you say, it is just a game and those on the other end have jobs, hobbies, partners, problems, and a whole lot of other aspects which makes them unique and full individuals.

Evan before the Fog. I like to draw him, wish devs give him this skin.
They're the same person?? It's like Trickster and Trapper were the same individual but in different time periods.
I'm only used to the bald trapper we get now. Completely forgot about his younger version, so thank you for reminding me.👍

Fallout has so many characters to choose from, either as survivor or killer!
For survivor, Lucy MacLean would be the most recognisable and recent, but there are other characters that can be used such as Three Dog, Craig Boone, Nick Valentine, Veronica Santangelo... even the idea of Preston Garvey running around declaring "Another band of survivors needs my help" amuses me (perhaps the only survivor who thinks this hellscape would be heaven!).
As for killers, there are so many! Frank Horrigan, Deathclaws, Ulysses, Legate Lanius, Dr. Klien, Father Elijah, Nightkin, etc. Just so many!
The only thing would be I don't think the player protagonist would be used, because of the fact there is no set appearance due to customisation.
-
Not because I feel he's uncounterable. The Wraith does have weaknesses that can be exploited. I just miss the old lightburn mechanic and would like to see it back.

Why the hell is the Trickster wearing the Trapper's clothing??
Is there some lore we're not aware of? Is this an unspoken and scandalous relationship nobody else has been aware of until now?
-
Spies From The Shadows has always been good. It's an extremely reliable perk, which is really only countered by Calm Spirit, yet even then a Survivor is never really to know if this perk is equipt.
It was strange that the crows have only been revisited now since this perk appeared at the beginning. There's a lot of potential with this mechanic, and I'd like to think this will be the start of using this more.
-
Great news from what was actually a decent AMA! Better questions asked by the players and much more fulfilling responses by BHVR! Well done, both sides.
Also, I hope the add-ons are more diverse. Alongside the other responses, I'm excited for the future. DBD looks to have a good few years still in it!
-
Still pleased they are giving it a shot. There will always be people who won't like them, be it because of genuine bad design or people whinging, but it's nice to see them return and try again.
One of the quotes from the event went something like: the best discoveries come from making bad mistakes. I hope these remakes prove this.
-
Mostly because they have the emotional age of kids. There are few who dc after a hit because they are experiencing terrible lag their side, or something genuinely goes wrong. Mostly because they are childish though.
-
You don't need a large poll and stats to know this. Many who complain just look for excuses for their poor performance, rather than acknowledge they need to improve.
Also, people will remember bad happenings more robustly than anything good because of an out-of-date instinct in humans to avoid danger above all else. One trial with either a perceived or actual tunnel becomes the basis for which future losses may be based on.
-
We'll see as time goes on and people adapt. It nerfs him defintely in terms of removing the camping and loop abilities, but it gives more freedom to select the right power for the right job.
I'd probably say wait for a month or two before finding out for real. A PTB is never long enough to make a true picture.
