I don't feel this is new, since hackers can do a lot of things. Whilst I feel this is such a rarity as to not be overly concerned, it would be a good idea for BHVR to say something about this sooner, so as to stop the mass hysteria that may come from it.
I still believe a anti-cheat system needs to be implimented into the game, rather than the game being reliant upon reports. They did a sweep a while back that took out a number of cheaters, but a more permanent fixture would be good.
-
It's down to the individual ultimately. I'll go for 4k after downing the third if I know they are nearby and where they are roughly. I know thay's not the type of 4k you're talking about and I do think it's a waste of time hunting for a fourth when there's no sight of them.
As an example, I took on a Dredge recently. Nothing really wrong with them. Of anything the other Kate was the problem as she tried to make noises tp give away my position. When Dredge arrived, she tried to point me out but Dredge was having none of it. I fled to the otherside of the map and Kate went down. I expected Dredge to pick her up but it never happened, and after what she had tried to do there was no way I was getting her back up, even when she crawled towards me. Anyway, she bled out and I found the hatch. That was a lot of time wasted when - if Dredge had just hooked her - it wasn't too far from the Hatch spawn!
Basically, the main problem with hunting for that 4K is a great deal of time is wasted when we could all be in other games. In the end, Dredge didn't get that 4k, but could have had it any other game. I don't blame killers for doing it, nor should we be doing that. However, it doesn't make sense to me to spend way too much time doing pretty much bugger-all, playing hide-n-seek. I just hook and see what happens. I get 4Ks happily enough that I know one trial seeking for the missing fourth doesn't matter.
-
I've seen people give up against Trapper. As Trapper, I've seen people give up a fair few times. It's quite embarrassing.
-
Can't say I feel the same, but I agree the celebrations have benefitted the killer role more than the survivor role.
Currently, the survivors are more at risk from themselves than the killer, because there are a lot of wimps who give up early. If survivors actually hung around then maybe the games will be far better.

If there are horror elements in an IP I think it's fine personally. Also the original Tomb Raider games had horrifying enemies / stories. It's absolutely fair to give Tomb Raider a place in DBD. Unsure how the newer games fair with the reboot though.
There is only a few things in that list I'm uncertain about like Metal Gear Solid and Portal for example but a good chunk of those have horror elements in them at some point.
The remakes also have horror elements. An Oni appears in the original remake, and Baba Yaga is on a DLC. Tomb Raider has always been dabbling in horror.
-
The whole "it's not horror" complaint for this chapter makes no sense whatsoever.
Firstly, Horror is expansive and feeds into many genres. Tomb Raider has horror elements. Lara Croft faces a T-rex, oni's, Baba Yaga, a kraken .. all horror creatures. The 2013 remake also borrowed from horror atmospheres. Tomb Raider has many horror elements, whilst still being a survivor game.
Secondly, Lara Croft is a survivor in the strongest possible sense. If I was The Entity and looking for suitable, substantial meals then I'd be searching for people like Lara Croft who would put up a strong fight. She is basically the perfect candidate.
Thirdly, there are many characters in this game which are not horror. Most original survivors are not horror. Some Killers - such as The Trickster, The Legion or The Deathslinger- are not horror (The Deathslinger is basically a Western chapter with a little steampunk). None of these were picked up on when people complain about Lara Croft.
The whole argument falls flat. The Entity doesn't go round choosing horror characters from the many worlds it consumes. It doesn't go to Earth to swallow victims and entire planets, but leaves the presenters of CBeebies alone because they are not horror. It's not, but these complaints stink of Gatekeeping.
-
GGWP on the graduation! The UniEntity was no match for you, it seems!

Unless all of them are 8 unique addon (with other 2 iri), no 2 or more add-ons are duplicated versions.
Here is my visual of what I mean for Myers add-on, or killers in general. May be add a new Green addon, make it 6 Green, 2 Purple, 2 Iri.
I think you could have more than 9, but what I'd like are add-ons more like The Wraith. The Wraith has a lot of interesting add-ons which makes for some rather unique plays. Compare those to the likes of The Executioner, where there just isn't the variety.
Personally, there should be compounded add-ons, as shown. I'd like more game-changing add-ons too, which allows a killer different methods of playstyle. The Trapper has aura-reading add-ons, tactical add-ons, stealth add-ons and such. The Hag has add-ons which turns traps into blockades, or teleport at will (without triggering) and so on. I wish they did this for more killers.
-
I still have read way more positive than the literal drips of negative comments about her being in, and I dunno of the negatives are just doing it for trolling purposes.
She clearly fits. In fact, many who are not from direct horror could fit in. John Wicks? Yes. Indiana Jones? Yes. Finn Kelly? Yes. Fitzwilliam Darcy? Yes. Villanelle? Yes. Basically, short of The Teletubbies many could be (and even they had a horror game!!)
It's just strange to be thinking x doesn't fit because of it not being true horror. Gatekeeping at its dumbest.

Im pretty sure even if no repairing sounds, the addon is still useless, there is progression on Gen, and killer would still come closer to check if there is being regressed or not, then coming for a kick and spotting the survivor there.
For killers, lets use Myers for example, he has 3 addons that increasing stalk rate, 3 addons that linger aura after stalking, 4 addons that increasing duration, 3 addons increasing movement while stalking .ect. The number of addon is many, but the types arent.
- Just merge them into one (linger aura after stalking for 4sec may, both EWI and EWII)
- or remove the weaker addon and keep the strongest(increase the duration by ???sec addon type)
- Brown addons nowaday are too weak to worth an addon slot (increase lung range at EWI and reduce TR…), merge them too.
So instead of 20 addons, most that you never use. Can be merged down to 10 from removing the duplicate addons.
Edit: can be the same with offering. Honestly those brown, yellow BP offering should go too. Just keep the green one.
They need to clean up Blood web.
I dp agree with the Bloodweb needing a little less litter. Also, I do agree with merging. I just like more choice - a personal preference. OR maybe 10 add-ons per item type. Is that what you were refering to? Because actually that's a decent selection to choose from. I'd be fine with that, so long as there were some fun ones as well.

Not that the current addon system is predictable? Like why you should use silent addon over charge addon for toolbox. By then silent addon doesnt exist is still
For killers, I think the same type of addon should go. Like Trapper gloves and fastened tool do the same thing but one better than another. What I mean is the Gloves should go. So better addon can spawn more
It's only predictable because of the player, not the add-on. The problem is some add-ons cannot give feedback. That one toolbox add-on which reduces the distance of repair sounds by 8m has probably worked before, but people won't have feedback to confirm it.
Anyway, it still stands that a variety of add-ons can make the game more interesting. Some do need reworks, but if there were only - say - 5 add-ons per item, it just doesn't feel good.

It should be reduced, not more. There are many useless addons. Silent toolbox was fine because toolboxes used to be slower progress but last much longer. Now it lasts a few second, why should anyone use it? Just a waste of bloodweb and addon slot. Just an example of bad addon.
And it should goes for both side. Varity should go, we dont need Brown addon, then another addon that does the samething but better because how easy to earn BP now.

Seeing killer's aura is fine with the delay. Instantly show up is broken, its clunky to use, but it has to.
Its the map's aura that definitely needed a buff.
I dunno, I like variety and being able to have a number of different options. I'd agree to maybe reworking or combining existing add-ons, but personally I'd prefer an increase in numbers with more variety, otherwise it becomes dull and predictable.
-
It would be nice to have a few new variants of add-ons for each item. Flashlights, toolboxes and first aid kits have 11-13, so if 2-3 more add-ons were made with interesting effects that would be nice.
-
I would give maps and keys 2-3 more add-ons to bring the choice in line with the others. Add a tad more variety.
-
It's less to do with being disrespectful, and more an issue you have which makes you feel frustrated with the comment.
It would be much more advisable for you to work on why you react that way, because it's an unhealthy reaction to have. When sports teams such as in football win, they approach the other side to shake hands and vice versa. According to this logic, that's unsportsmanlike.
This only makes sense when you recognise that you are the one with the problem here and not the other. When you realise this, you'll probably feel and be better for it.
-
So long as you have video evidence, then they will be as it's against the rules set. I've reported 2-3 people because of this and I have received the prompt saying action has been taken.
Granted, the report prompt may not just be because of me, but it's evidence enough for me to know they take action.
-
Personally, playing as you do is the best way to get better at the game. Not tunnelling meams finding other ways to keep the survivors on their toes, but most importantly it boosts creativity, experience, knowledge and generally better performance.
-
Absolutely fine by me! Thanks BHVR.

I don't get why BHVR didn't just say "Microsoft's ish broke" and there's nothing they can do about it to stop all the PANIK here but whatevs, it's fixed now
I didn't think the panic was needed myself, because BHVR have recently been great and this was not their issue but Microsofts.
No idea why they didn't say that but, as you say, it's here now and we can join the fray!
-
According to XboxSupport, Microsoft have resolved the download issues for updates to all games about 2 hours ago. I don't know whether this means DBD is now able to update as haven't had a chance to check, but if anyone could that would be great!

By now I'm convinced they put it in the wrong bracket instead of "Known issues" because this whole thing sounds like a bug.
This is what I hope. I mean, sure it's rare that it would happen, but it just seems a strange change if it was intentional.
-
1v1 just seems silly to me. Often because someone's ego broke and they somehow think a 1v1 competition proves who is better, when the reality is it's just another match which doesn't say who is the better player, but who won that one time. It's mostly a waste of time when people could just be playing the actual game.
-
It is a self-preserving perk, and I can see why some may see it as selfish. When Distortion prevents the aura of that one survivor, the killer will naturally pursue those without it. It's hard to get around that fact.
However, I think it's how someone uses it which determines whether it's a selfish playstyle or not. If that player is taking chases early on and is first hooked, then using the perk to protect them if injured is prolonging the trial in general, especially if all others are healthy. If trying to finish that gen and a killer has Nowhere To Hide, keeping close by, knowing you are safer than those without is actually more altruistic. In chase, Distortion can confuse a killer who uses an aura-reading add-on, such as the Huntress, where the survivor can again prolong themselves in chase, or even save a hook state.
It can be useful as a team perk and I'd say it's more self-preservation than selfish when used right (my distinction between the 2 is "self-preservation" is protecting yourself without intending to harm others, whilst "selfish" is protecting yourself at the expense of others). In some cases, it can be altruistic also!

What does that mean in the last second?
This as well. It's very vague. Is it jumping off literally at the last second or after a set period of time?
My concern was they eliminated the Mori system where you only needed 1 hook for a reason, so why - in any form - would they want to bring that back?
-
Not really, but I would say that the grab should have still been a thing for injured survivors.
I can understand how irritating and tedious it is as a healthy survivor to play stand-off against a killer, so am really glad that's gone. However, when an injured survivor is doing the same thing then I would have liked to see the grab for that come back. Afterall, they'd be down anyway.
-
Meh, as an Xbox user this really doesn't bother me. Yes, I do hope the patch is sorted sooner rather than later, but it's a mild inconvenience at the very most.
They'll get it sorted. I just look forward for when it arrives (and at time of typing they may already have done so).
-
You missed out Lightweight. Lightweight is one of the best survivor chase perks there is. You can lose killers so easily with it and, if using perks like "Fixated" or WoO with it, you can mislead Killers on all sorts of wild goose chases.
It's an unbelieveably underrated perk.
-
Maybe a 2? To be honest, there are so many games being played that if you come across one, just end the game anyway in the quickest way and move on. You'll probably get the achievment the next trial anyway.
No achievement is worth waiting for 30 minutes by a locker. That's just stubborness on both sides, with both being at fault.
-
Personally, I'd only use it if I saw a couple of people working on a gen already. Maximise the time wisely. Playing it with people just standing still doing nothing is risky, because if the Killer spots you together they'll have a feeding frenzy.
Use it when people are doing the gens. That's the best time.

This went a bit nuts after a while and some may be overpowered, but here's a full Executioner add-on rework:
Black Strap: Survivors crossing the Torment Trails are Hindered for 3 seconds and increases Killer Instinct duration by 1 second.
Copper Ring: Increases the Torment Trails in the environment by 20 seconds.
Dead Butterfly: Punishment Of The Damned attacks on a healthy survivor no longer injures, but instead inflicts Tormented status. Survivors can only be injured by Punishment Of The Damned once Tormented.
Lead Ring: Rescuing a survivor from the Cage of Atonement inflicts Blindness for 60 seconds upon the rescuer.
Cinderella Music Box: Increases the duration of Rites of Judgement by 2 seconds. Any injured survivor who is affected by the Torment Trails becomes Broken for 60 seconds.
Forgotten Video Tape: Reduces recovery of Rites Of Judgement by -2 seconds. Any survivor injured by Punishment Of The Damned have their aura revealed for 5 seconds.
Leopard-Print Fabric: When a survivor is sent to the Cage Of Atonement, all tormented survivor auras are revealed for 5 seconds.
Spearhead: The reach of Punishment Of The Damned attacks is increased by 1.5 metres.
Wax Doll: Survivors who become Tormented suffer from the Mangled and Hemorrhaged status effects for 80 second.
Burning Man Painting: The reach of Punishment Of The Damned is increased by 2 metres.
Mannequin Foot: Whilst performing Rites Of Judgement or walking on Torment Trails, you become Undetectable.
Misty Day, Remains Of Judgement: Once a survivor is sent to the Cage Of Atonement, all survivors who are or have been Tormented up to that point become Exposed for 30 seconds.
Tablet Of The Oppressor: Survivors affected by Torment will cough occasionally, and the volume of their grunts of pain are increased by 50%.
Valtiel Sect Photograph: Reduces recovery of Rites of Judgement by -4 seconds. The Executioner can now execute any survivor on their final hook stage regardless, so long as they had been Tormented at least once previously.
Crimson Ceremony Book: Survivors hut by Punishment Of The Damned suffer from Haemorrhage and Mangled status effects for 80 seconds.
Lost Memories Book: Survivors suffer from the Oblivious status for 30 seconds when affected by Torment.
Rust-Coloured Egg: Once a survivor is rescued from a Cage Of Atonement, all other survivors have their auras revealed for 6 seconds.
Scarlett Egg: Once all generators are completed, any survivors who have been sent to the Cage Of Atonement are permanently exposed, and any survivor who is Tormented becomes permanently Tormented.
Iridescent Seal Of Metatron: Once any generator is completed, any survivor who completed it becomes Tormented.
Obsidion Goblet: Any survivor executed can be resurrected as an AI minion for the Executioner. They run at 3.8m/second and any survivor they hit will not only be injured but also Tormented.

They say that, for every day Chaos Shuffle is absent from DBD, a fairy dies. I'm certain that BHVR do not want to feel responsible for this.
BHVR, it is your humanitary duty to protect the fairies and bring Chaos Shuffle back. What is Tinkerbell is the next to die?
Chaos Shuffle is the best thing to happen to this game in recent times. Bring back our beloved mode! Plus kidnamedfinger's family is suffering. Don't let this continue.
-
This could be interesting. I'm guessing it's all for fun, so here goes:
We have all been there. The generator is nearly done and at that very last second that Killer grabs you off and slams you on the hook. One Pop later, and all your hard work is down the drain. There was nothing you could do, you say! Well there was, and you screwed yourself from the start. Because that 4k could have only been a 1k if you had that little extra "oomph". If you only finished it in that last moment. If you only had equipt "This Is Not Happening"
We know you were just off that Great Skill Check. In fact, how many times did you strive for that, only to miss the check entirely? Many more than you would like to admit, I bet. This perk GUARANTEES that Great check! No more having to risk waiting around dangerously inside the Killer radius for Stake Out to guide you. Plus, it's better to gloat to your friends how much skill you have without that wussy perk.
Also, the synergy!! Hyperfocus plus TINH is a win! Want to try No Mither, but not sure you can benefit much? TINH begs to differ! Resilience is useless without being injured so why not tart it up with TINH!
Bragging rights are also abound. That smelly Killer Nurse rocking the meta, but you still escaped. Imagine that players horror when TINH is seen on the results screen! You can say "Git Gud N00b" and actually have evidence to prove it!
Officially, 9/10 chads use TINH and that's official DBD figures (only accessible to people on the Chad Whisperer programme). Even big names like Otz and Jund have recognised this as "a perk", and if that is not recommendation alone then I don't know what is.
This. Is. Not. Happening ... It bloody well is happening with me, and you can have it happen to you too. Best of all, it's NOT a pay to win perk!
-
Firstly, I'm not condoning this style of gameplay. However, I believe there are a few reasons, including:
- Believing this is the only way to win. This is down to either insecurity, what they have been led to believe online and so on.They have become convinced they can only win using this method.
- Anger: Previous experiences against survivors who have either been poor winners, or simply outplayed them and played honourably, may have warped them into wanting revenge on others, grouping them alltogether. They are probably the weakest emotionally.
- For the memes. They do this so that they can enjoy the responses, either in chat or posting online. Normally, this is usually for entertainment (or angertainment as some now call it).
- Tactical: This is when it becomes apparent this is either the best option available or the survivors put themselves into this vulnerable position. This tactic doesn't result in bleedouts as that Killer will mop up the mess afterwards. The latter occurance is down purely to survivor error.
In the case you showed, this probably falls into the 2nd or 3rd category. It is to be noted slugging (with exception to the fourth point) is normally easy mode. In pubs, even against strong teams, this isn't necessary to win. If I can win with Trapper using randomized setups vs meta players, then so can many others. I feel it's psychology which prevents people from doing so.
-
Skill issue :p
-
Strangely heartwarming!
-
We don't have the full picture as to why; just the statement and a couple of Twitter comments.
Maybe there is some good reason for this, or maybe this was a flawed decision, we do not know.
Until there's more clarity I'm quite happy to consider this standard business news for now. I do hope the statement is correct in BHVR helping those made redundant find employment, since lay-offs are a horrid thing to have done - be they necessary or not.
-
Agreed. Horror comes in various forms, and DnD is one of those forms as Dark Fantasy. The genre has vampires, orcs, werewolves, beholders, zombies, ghosts ... there is plenty of horror there! Those people just have difficulty with the concept.
I'd also like to add "Chains of Hate" is probably also the least horror chapter they had - it's basically a steampunk-lite Western! Even then, Deathslinger is a perfectly fine inclusion!
-
Yup, I play solo and love it! I feel more immersed in the game and enjoy challenges, both as Survivor and Killer. Mostly, I just enjoy the experience.
I tried swf, but the chatting was distracting and there was an expectancy to play a certain way, which I didn't like. Also, it made the game not immersive and felt much too easy.
Finally, in solo there are some great stories that can be told. Of course, swf is the same, but being able to see it from the unique perspective of SoloQ can prpvide some great, unexpected moments, especially when you unexpectedly work so well as a team, you could be mistaken for a swf.
-
Most of them, really! Especially Cheryl, because she's already been through more than enough ######### in her life, without having to deal with another paranormal event.
Also, I'm going to say Alan Wake. The only survivor I believe who has evidence he made it out (a hint from a manuscript of him leaving a place of darkness into a place of fog, and he also has appeared in Fortnite and made a comment about Helldivers, showing his attempts to write himself out of the Dark Place is sending him all over). Alan Wake is appearing in multiple Hells in multiple places. I wouldn't be surprised if he's been in worse places than this.

Wasn't the Entity's true form shown off in Casting of Frank Stone and she's basically a giant spider? I don't think a Spider killer is a bad idea, but the Entity is absolutely modeled after a spider beyond the limbs we see in game.
I just looked up the picture and that is not a spider. Too many legs for a start.
It's also likely that picture may be just a part of The Entity, not the whole. As mentioned before, it manifests in spikes as well as spider limbs. My guess is that this picture is a part of it. I don't believe this has been officially dubbed the Entity's true form anyway.
-
Firstly, there's nothing embarrassing about Nicolas Cage being in DBD. He fits in perfectly and actually adds an element of fear, because it shows The Entity isn't beyond taking famous figures even we would have considered safe.
The game is a horror game, absolutely. It's also evolved from the original idea into a broader scope of killers from anywhere, not just pure horror. This makes complete sense, since The Entity is wanting beings capable of killing to do the job, and this does not mean they can only be horror.
Besides, what we do have are from horror in the broadest sense. DnD has horror elements within it. It's a dark fantasy genre, which includes horror. Why would science fiction be able to be considered horror, when dark fantasy cannot? Even Naughty Bear can be considered in the genre (although certainly not the scary bit).
The game has moved on and has a broader scope of what it can include, whilst sticking well to the lore the core game comes from. There will still be limits, but the genre of horror is very broad. It would be narrow-minded to consider otherwise.
-

The Entity is a Spider. It would be ridiculous to add a Spider killer.
The Entity manifests in numerous forms. Yes, it protects the generators and takes survivors using spider-like limbs, but it also manifests in other ways, such as spikes which block exit gates and windows.
The Entity is not a spider, but a rather large malevolent being beyond understand and comprehension, whose true form is not known.
A spider killer would still be a great addition, providing BHVR are able to develop a character of spider appearance that will function within the game.
-
T-1000 would be perfect to fill in this role. Not sure if the Terminator series is on BHVR's radar, but it would be a fun addition.
-
Fog Whisperers did get benefits in the past, but really they were just an advertising platform, even if nowadays it's not looking promising for them.
Although I cannot offer any true understanding of BHVR's recent thoughts on this programme, what I do know is one of the very first Fog Whisperers (HybridPanda) reapplied some time ago for the programme and never heard anything back. He left under personal circumstances and under no shadow, but it was odd they didn't add him back. Maybe BHVR are winding it down, because if they won't allow an original back in - who holds no baggage - it does beg the question of continuation.

Of course I'm sure there's a logistical reason for this, but it's a shame console players aren't involved. At least changes are made after the full release, based on future feedback.Steam has a built in beta function for games on its platforms. This is why PTB is not on PC, it's on Steam, not Epic.
That explains it, thank you.
-
Not my experience. In my Chaos Shuffle trials as Trapper I've not noted gens fly by and I've had many matches where the final stage of the trials have been very balanced, with maybe all gens done but with all remaining survivors on final hook.
That just sounds like one bad trial. There are ways of natural slowdown, such as multiple injuries or zoning in or guarding maybe 5 gens at the start and not the full 7.
Obviously, I'm not going to comment on your trial as I have no knowledge other than your recap, but for me slowdown perks have not been vital for the most part, with exception against a very formidable squad.
-
Focusing on the area of how newer players are treated by people who have been playing for a while, I can say - even as someone who has been playing this a few years - it's increasingly frustrating to read posts talking about "n00bs" and players who do not know what they are doing. Both the terminology and attitudes towards beginners are often (but not always) negative.
Often I wonder whether those who say those derogatory comments are the problem themselves, considering they seem to "lose" more often than not. Regardless, players need to be much more conscientious and willing to help others more often. The attitudes of the playerbase largely impact the game itself, so more experienced individuals need to do better.
-
I don't see the problem with this. It comes across as a playtester role, which many games already have. It makes sense overall.
At no point has there been anything saying that these people are solely consulted for changes, and Fog Whisperers and regular folk like ourselves also have avenues to give feedback that has evidence to show it was listened to. Fog Whisperers were always primarily advertisers with benefits, but their feedback also would have been considered.
In terms of feedback, if anything the only issue I have is PTBs is solely for PC. Of course I'm sure there's a logistical reason for this, but it's a shame console players aren't involved. At least changes are made after the full release, based on future feedback.
-
Yes. One less survivor is far worse for survivors than one broken hook after a sacrifice for killer.
