  • Exactly. Everyone acts like weave franklins is so easy to counter. “Just move the item to a corner!” Okay so we are supposed to run around the map looking for dropped items as if it’s super easy when the area of affect is a radius and there’s no aura on the item? Do you know how many times I’ve run around inside of the weave area looking for the item and couldn’t find it? Meanwhile the killer sees me the entire time. And if you’re on a map with multiple levels it works thru that, so you’re looking for an item that may not even be on the same floor. If you are lucky enough to find the needle in the haystack, you pick it up you’re not only oblivious, but the killer sees you and now you can’t hear them coming. All of this means you’re also not on gens. Thats a high priced “counter” that usually costs you the match, going on item scavenger hunt.

Also the “just don’t bring an item!” thing is disingenuous because you’re handicapping yourself going into the match without bringing something to help. Not bringing items is like the killer not bringing their add-ons. You can do it but you’re going into the match at a deficit.

That’s not a reasonable counter whatsoever.

  • I think it’s also funny how suddenly killer mains claim to care about how distortion affects other survivors in the match and that’s why it needs nerfed. “It’s hurting your teammates!” Now you care about the teammates and not your own kill count? Be for real.

  • @HexHuntressThighs said:

The fact that you gain distortion stacks in AND out of chase is insane. It needs to be one or the other. Every single other perk is one or the other.

I just think it’s funny how no one had anything to say about distortion until weave attunement dropped. Once that with franklins became the killer META, now suddenly distortion is an issue. Can’t have those unlimited aura reads on survivors getting countered now.

  • @Rick1998 said:

i personally never bother with aura reading sorelly due to distorsion. People complain about me running to much slowdown . Then when other people out there may want to try aura perks instead of slowdown thats also an issue. Are killers meant to bring no perks then ?

I think the point is to get killers to bring a variety build instead of slamming one thing, but to be fair, id like to see survivors do the same thing. I’m tired of full meta builds each match.

  • @Royval said:

what do you mean people are too reliant if you make a build with the purpose of getting aura reading NO PERK should have the power to completely destroy a build you should have value no matter what I hope they gut distortion like they did STBFL eye for an eye

You choose to run the build you run. Just because you chose a full aura build doesn’t mean you deserve to not have it countered. Thats the gamble you take when you run a build meant to only do one thing.

  • You’re not completely immune to aura reading. You only get 3 tokens. Going against full aura builds those tokens are gone fast and you have to regain them. I’ve never played a match running distortion where I completely avoided being chased.

  • @stanheights said:

as a survivor main i hope they make it to where you gain tokens in chase rather than being in the killers terror radius because in its current state it encourages hiding and hurts teammates :(

Now this would be fair. Unfortunately that’s not what people are asking for. They’re asking for it to not gain your tokens back in chase, so if that happens then it’s only hurting the survivor side.

  • The point of buffs and nerfs is for game balance, not to “give both sides something” every time. That doesn’t balance the game to change things that don’t need changed, just to “be fair.”

  • @Backmon said:

Cause this another huge buff for cheaters and bully squads. At least before they need to hide they p100 character and if its only 1 p100 you know who should get tunneled first. Anyway another survivor sided update from survivor sided development. I did not even surprise why its only survivors perks getting buffed and camping became much harder (for securing second stage and not like hard camping).

Your entire post is the exact reason why this is happening. Basically admitting that you want P100s shown so you can tunnel them out is exactly what people have complained about and the devs said they don’t want. Congrats.

  • You can see it in endgame screen just fine. Showing off in pregame lobby isn’t necessary.

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/422636/why-hiding-prestige-in-lobby-is-terrible-desicion

a p100 does not necessarily have more skill than a p3 - I have plenty of high prestiges, does my skill change if I play a new character who's P3? No it doesn't.

Tunnelling out players and dodging lobbies purely because they have a high prestige character isn't something we wish to see happen - hence why hiding prestige was such a highly requested feature because players have become tired of not being able to play their favourite character who they've dedicated a lot of bloodpoints to.

Our Development team does not "pick sides" - they look at the game overall and see what areas need improvement.

    Thank you!

The OP literally confirmed what we’ve all been complaining about for months which is that if we play our favorite character, the killers target and tunnel us out.

  • legion is already obnoxious and boring enough to play against. I sure as heck don’t wanna play against two mending sim killers.

  • Would you mind linking these posts where people are complaining about killer team ups? Cuz I’m not seeing it. Personally I think it’s fun. The anxiety and chaos of having to try and escape two killers at once is fun for me. I’m not even escaping matches hardly ever but still having fun.

  • I would legit leave matches if I’m loading in with bots from the start.

  • Killers: THANK YOU to those of you that show personality. I always appreciate a good meme match but even when you’re trying to win which is totally legit, I appreciate the funny stuff you do. If I’m running and I accidentally run myself into a wall, I stand there and reflect, I look at you and you just stare at me with that hilariously disapproving look, shake your head and then down me. 🤣🤣🤣 spinning in circles while carrying me to hook, that kinda stuff shows personality and I love it.

I also appreciate you letting me get my challenges done. If we are in chase and you see me stop to grab a glyph, stopping and letting me get it, then downing me is very nice and appreciated.

Also to Pig players, thank you for letting me boop the snoot before you kill me. I love to boop piggy.

  • Yeah I think I remember one of the devs commenting on a post like this awhile back saying that this was intended. As you’ve pointed out though they don’t make that clear in the perk description and I think that needs to change. People should know the risks before they choose whether or not to run the perk. Very uncool on BHVR part.

  • Legion- Boring and obnoxious mending sim.
Onryo- Obnoxious spam teleporting and slugging
Trickster- Obnoxious spam knife throwing with no counter since his buff

    Skull Merchant- Obvious reasons

Honorable mention- Doctor. Obnoxious spam shocking with no counter as his shocks stop you from doing anything including throwing pallets, vaulting, hook saving, healing, gens etc.

  • @TheArbiter said:

Not a bug they were using Hex: Monstrous Shrine which makes basement hooks turn into scourge hooks

No one should be forced to play out matches that has a SWF group.

You’re not forced to play it out. You can DC if you feel like you’re against a SWF and don’t want to play.

  • The bug I saw this morning was the gen count not procing. We did one gen and it still said 5 gens but when we popped the second gen the count corrected to 3. Then same thing. Completed another gen and it stayed at 3, but when we did the next one it corrected to 1.

  • @Bookern said:

i say it cause its heavily one sided if it wasnt meant to be competitive they should've just added every killer without these ridiculous nerfs then especially to billy

It would have been competitive if they left other killers in as some of their powers are super strong compared to others. Removing all perks, add-ons and making nerfs and buffs to certain things is why it takes the competitiveness out of it. It’s literally meant to be fun chaos, that’s it

  • @ChaosWam said:

I'll reserve judgement for after I try it, but yeah, I highly expect full lobbies of Escapists.

Not possible. Only two survivors per class allowed each match. This is a perfect reason why you play the mode before you start critiquing it.

  • Unfortunately, you’re not going to force people to play out a match they don’t want to play, no matter what you do. Removing self unhooks just means they can run around the map chasing the killer, they can totem hunt and open chests to waste time or just alt tab out and let the killer take them out.

I agree it can be discouraged but removing self unhooks is not gonna fix the issue.

  • Yup bugs I’ve already seen

-2 gens left on map, one gets completed and exit gates power so only 4 gens had to be completed.

-Hatch spawn at 3 gens left

    -Gens are silent during EGC

    The Wesker bug lmao

-If you’re running dead hard you have no BT off hook.

Stuff always breaks so bad after an update. Wondering why that can’t be addressed.

  • We’re complaining about resilience now? You’ve gotta be kidding me.

  • @Depressedlegion said:

Honestly what needs to happen is lower the time for a token to recharge and only have tokens recharge in chase.

    No it doesn’t.

If you’re relying on a full aura reading build that’s your choice as killer. You could always run other stuff. Same as how if I run a full gen rush build as survivor but the killer brings slowdowns, doesn’t mean slowdown perks need nerfed just because it negates the build that I chose to run. That was my choice and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. One of the few aura countering perks survivors have doesn’t need to be nerfed just because killers are mad that they can’t see all survivors at all times during their match.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/420106/weave-of-attunement

The counterplay is easy… pick up your items.

or/and go and drop it in the corner of the map.

That’s not counter play. I literally tried this and what happened? Not only did the killer see me dropping the item on the edges of the map, but I was also oblivious so I couldn’t hear them and they were on me instantly. Plus it keeps players off gens if they’re all running around trying to find and move items.

    This perk needs a nerf.

-It should not work thru multiple levels (getting weave and I can’t find the item to move it because it’s actually above or below me and I don’t know that)

-It shouldn’t not work on slugged survivors

    -oblivious needs removed.

-Personally because it gets paired with franklins so much, I think once the item is drained, it should no longer work OR the radius for it should decrease once item is drained.

  • ”I play in a scummy way where I slug all 4 survivors with blindness because my killer main was made for slugging, but I can’t get any fun matches.”

    Thats what I’m reading

  • I really hope I get some more Sheva cosmetics 🥺

You are acting like I'm personally against snowmen. Plus I also said to nerf instant hooks slightly.

Events are now a separate queue so it really doesn't matter if they aren't completely balanced during their run. If you don't like the modifer, don't play it.

Thats the thing! Events are not modifiers. They put it as a separate mode this year for people who aren’t interested in playing the event but events are still not new game modes. They’re once a year events that mostly everyone looks forward to playing, that comes with a lot of new rewards, skins, and items that people want to get and it comes with a LOT of BP that you only earn by playing the event. Events should not be out of balance on one side or the other. This isn’t like Lights Out or My Little Oni where if you didn’t like it you could not play it and not miss out on stuff. Making a huge once a year event only fun for one side to play is a slap in the face to half your playerbase.

Youre now saying that if people don’t like playing an unbalanced event then don’t play it and miss out which isn’t fair and should not be the expectation for an event, and especially not the anniversary event. I’m not sure how you don’t see this distinction but that’s okay. I’m done arguing about it.

I have a sneaking suspicion that if next year the anniversary event gave heavily OP items to the survivor side and killers complained about it ruining the event for them, you (and others saying this same thing) may not have the same attitude. Most people don’t care about something being ruined for others as long as they themselves are still able to benefit from it. But I guess time will tell. Have a good one.

  • @Neaxolotl said:

Considering the purpose of "wiggle mechanics" is to stop killers from hooking you far far away, even with remote hooks it doesn't really "negate" wiggle mechanic, you still don't get a hook farther away

The killer should not get insta hooks right after downing people. If they wanted that they wouldn’t have put in any wiggle mechanic at all or perks to help with it. Not to mention as others have said how it also negated DS, flash saves and power struggle. It was clearly an OP ability.

  • @Crowman said:

i think it's fine. Adjust the timing so things like ds and pallet saves have a bigger window before the survivor gets hooked.

It's an event you can opt to play. It doesn't need to be balanced.

Funny how everyone keeps saying “it’s an event it doesn’t need to be balanced” when it’s the killer side that was OP. But two years ago when survivors were getting free hits inside snowmen everyone was screaming how horrible and unfair the event was. 🤣🤣 Events are meant to be fun and accessible for everyone. Putting OP abilities on one side that turns off the playerbase from actually wanting to play should not be the end goal here, under the guise of “you don’t have to play the event if you don’t like it!”

The point is to get your players to play the event. This is such a disingenuous take.

  • I really wish people would stop acting like this Scott Jund dudes “experiments” are reliable and unbiased, as if he’s an authority. I went back and forth about this exact experiment in another thread where I pointed out how flawed his data was. This is just for people who already have decided what they want to believe.

If tunneling were not such a sure fire strategy to win, people wouldn’t do it.

  • I don’t like playing her because the k ym two playstyles I go against with her are either slugging everyone at 5 gens or the spam teleports to build up condemn stacks so they can mori everyone. Even if you’re on top of grabbing the tapes, having to run to one specific tv where that tv is always on the other side of the map from you, slows down gameplay for too much. I end up in 20-30 minute matches and I can’t be bothered.

I don’t hate versing Sadako as much as I do Legion and Skull Merchant but she’s high on my list of killers I hate going against for sure.

  • You hit the nail on the head. If you don’t have a popular platform and this happens to you then you’re SOL. The only reason these folks got their accounts back is because they had enough of a following to get on the radar and make BHVR actually got back and investigate after initially just closing it and saying “too bad we aren’t reinstating you.”

I’m glad they got it fixed but for those of us who are just randoms and not content creators, if we get randomly taken down out of nowhere without being told why, we are just screwed. It shouldn’t be this way and BHVR does need to take responsibility for how these actions are handled.

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

Try not bringing a item, congratulations, you have just wasted 50% of the killer's total perk slots by doing literally nothing

This only works in coordinated SWFs solo Q you can’t control other teammates bringing items and their items will still screw you over. Unless you’re gonna dodge every lobby in solo where your teammates bring an item, this is not a solution.

  • @Krazzik said:

I've barely seen that combo at all this event, maybe two games in all? Lethal is the perk that makes Distortion pretty much required.

You’re lucky then cuz I’ve gotten it the entire event, and mostly back to back killers. One day I had it 8 matches in a row, another day I had 12 total matches with it. I’m noticing it’s mostly vecnas running it but other killers do too. 9/10 vecna matches I get this combo.

  • @Rudjohns said:

    Easy fix to Distortion

-Bring back 3 tokens max and no chances to gain the tokens back

-Any aura reading ability by the killer should only show auras of healthy survivors

Not allowing the tokens to recharge is completely unfair when going against killer who run full aura builds. The entire perk will become worthless 1-2 minutes into the match. Not to mention scratched or vanity mirror meyers. Also the weave franklins combo would nuke it super fast as well too.

Distortion is not the issue here. It’s the over reliance on aura reading perks and getting upset when your build gets countered, which is the purpose of perks.

  • @Junylar said:

I made an experiment recently, as a Nurse I intentionally spread hooks as wide as possible, even dropping chases with survivors who were dead on hook. And you know what happened? As soon as the gens were done, they start flashlight spamming and tbagging at the gates, as if they won because they are good, and not because I let them. The funniest thing is that during the actual trial not a single one of them dares to tbag the Nurse, but only when they are sure they can get away with it. So yeah, even if survivors don't BM you off the bat, doesn't mean they are decent people and won't do it when they win, so preventive tunnel and slug is always justified.

This is such a sad mindset and a huge reason why this community is so toxic.

  • @JeanGreyarea said:

but it wasn’t overpowered. It was really the blindness part that was annoying in my opinion

the blindness was definitely an issue but it definitely needed the cooldown longer if nothing else. Also the fact that it was linked to terror radius meant all the killer had to do was run around near gens and get full info.

  • @Xernoton said:

I don't think it would be a good idea to make bleedouts not count towards MMR. If they did that, then killers could use this as a way to stall their MMR in a range where they have easy matches while still winning. Meaning, that griefing would then have a legitimate use.

We'd replace one issue with another and the new issue would be even worse. At least, if they win and their MMR goes up, they will get stronger opponents who may be better suited to deal with this.

Exactly. It’s similar to the people who tunnel their way into a super high MMR. With this, people would slug their way into super low MMRs so that they’re always getting 4Ks and making games miserable for other players.

At least with tunneling, you put yourself into a high MMR and then get rocked by better teams since you only relied on tunneling as a playstyle. With slugging that only benefits griefing and toxic people.

  • I definitely think this event is the worst one in the last few years. Powers like insta hooks and insta break pallets and insta heal into exposed so you’re still a one shot… Way too killer sided. Events are supposed to be as fun for both sides as possible and that’s where they seriously dropped the ball here.

Also it’s hella disingenuous to say “just play normal mode” as if this isn’t a once a year event that people would like to be able to play without getting decimated every match by overpowered event abilities that clearly favor one side. But then again that’s the DBD community in a nutshell. “As long as IM having fun who cares about anyone else and if you don’t like it then leave” mentality.

  • This is exactly why I’m not buying this character on release. Out of all her perks Hardened is the only one that I would actually run and with the complaints already started, it’s gonna get nerfed into the ground. 🤣

  • I’m personally not a fan and likely won’t buy this character. No hate just not a fan of tomb raider and her perks just aren’t worth me spending the money. The only one I would even think to run is Hardened but I can already see that getting complained about and nerfed to where you can only use it once or twice per match, at which point it’s not something I would run.

  • @RedPoncho12 said:

I love how I get attacked for thinking the combo needs a bit of nerf. God forbid anyone has an opinion

Strong killer perk combos should always be embraced and survivors need to just learn to counter it, while strong survivor perk combos should always be nerfed. Thems the rules.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

I guess they will drop in around 15 minutes when the PTB goes live, simply because it is a licensed Survivor and it should be released with a Trailer.

    That’s fair

  • @Nazzzak said:

Weave makes you drop the item upon completion. BHVR even buffed it in the latest patch by making medkits without add ons get fully consumed upon a single heal (previously there would be a couple charges left on it after a full heal). They said it was a bug, though it'd been like that for over a year now, and it's coincidental they fix it at the same time as we get Weave. But anyway

    You saw it too huh?

  • Honestly BHVR will likely reduce the community challenge requirements again but even if they don’t, I don’t need the entire level 3 to get all event items so if I don’t finish it, I won’t be bothered

  • It’s one of those perks that needs another perk to truly synergize and get true value , but with both together personally I think it’s too much. The fact that it gives permanent aura reading as long as you’re within range and also works on slugged survivors is too much imo. I think it should be changed to not work on slugged survivors and either 1. Decrease the aura range or 2. Increase aura range but only work as long as the item has charges in it. Once charges are gone, aura reading stops.

People love to say “just take the item to a corner of the map easily countered” but that’s not easy. That requires you to spend time going back to find the item (assuming you don’t go down in chase) which reveals you to the killer, pick it up, (which then makes you oblivious) and run it to a corner or the map. Then when you put it down in the corner you’re revealing your location again. So now you gotta hope you get away from the item before the killer gets to you. Thats a lot of time spent off gens and trying to avoid the killer finding you again, with no terror radius to warn you. Also this needs survivor cooperation which is non-existent in solo Q. The only way to “counter” it is to activate its power by going near and picking up the dropped item, which puts you on the killers radar.

I would rather listen to these guys who all have more hours than you do, let alone have more hours on Huntress. She was not overpowered at all and I can tell you didn’t go against her on the PTB.

I really wish people would stop acting like these popular streamers are the final word on this games balancing and mechanics. Just because they have lots of hours and people watch them doesn’t make their opinions any more or less valid than anyone else. I’ve seen people with 4000 hours who can’t loop a killer to save their lives. Everyone’s opinion is valid, not just the popular people who agree with your stance.
