I thought Billy was too weak last time, but this tips him over to too strong, especially in this kind of game where he's basically always in a chase and there's almost no search time. Instadown with some of the best mobility in the game (did they add any indoor maps, or are they all still in his favor?) and loads of aura reading is just kind of insane. Between that and Blight, who's much easier to play than Nurse, I'm concerned that this round of 2v8 will be a lot sweatier on both sides, which will erode the fun factor it had last time.
I already knew blight was gonna be a problem when they announced he was in here. Once people figure out that blight and Billy are probably the strongest ones to play together, survivors are gonna get tired and getting slaughtered in 5 minutes and stop playing. Killer queues are already 10-15 minutes. That’s just gonna go up when all anyone wants to play is killer.
-
that’s exactly why I played scout before. Why did they nerf this?

Year, it is kinda sad because I like the idea of the cosmetics. I would love to see one for Spirit and Blight. Maybe next time.
The 2v8 cosmetics for the original 2v8 characters are available in the shop. They are not time limited. They are surprisingly green/rare ones.
Oh they are! Okay well that makes this a little better then! Thanks for telling me! But yeah I woulda loved cosmetics for spirit for sure and a few other survivors
-
@HolyDarky said:
I guess they had not the time to create new cosmetics for the new killers and survivors. The developers told us that the 2v8 will comeback next year but then changed their plans and it is now happening again due to the overwhelming postive feedback. Therefore, I guess they changed their plans and priorities a better gameplay experience over new cosmetics. Could also be the case that they had no employees available to create new 2v8 cosmetics because they are still busy with the upcoming Holiday cosmetics, community cosmetics, new collections, and much more.
Understandable but still kinda sucks. At least was hoping they would bring back the ones form last time so people who didn’t get them all could get another chance

I will absolutely unhook survs that try to go next unnecessarily; at the very least it will keep that player from ruining others’ games for just a bit longer. You’re welcome.
personally I say the game is already ruined. I’m not agreeing with OP at all but unless you just want the unhook points, your game is already done when someone tries to go next on hook. You can unhook them and they’re just gonna stand there AFK and wait for killer or run at the killer. You’re not saving your game and making it any less ruined because you’re not gonna force someone to participate in a game they’ve already given up on.

I'm not concerned about TTVs - most of the distinctly unfun or outright griefer killers I play against are not content creators, just regular jerks. The correlation between TTV/YT and toxicity is not nearly as high as people think it is, in either direction.
But I'm torn on the actual suggestion. I do kinda want it. More than that, I wish we could chat with all players pre-match… though I suspect BHVR doesn't want that and wants to discourage killer-survivor collaboration if at all possible (a la "hey guys I'm trying to get this achievement, help me out and I'll do whatever you want.")
Showing the killer's name results in the same possibility of messaging the killer pre or mid match, for good or ill. But more importantly, I'm certain this would lead to a lot of profile inspection and dodging over -reps and other complaint litter that people get. If your lobby's killer has 40 pages of -rep hard tunneled and -rep camping bubba, do you really want to load into that match? Even if you're a god looper and you don't feel threatened, the chance one of your teammates comes face to face with a killer playing hardball and either messes up and dooms the match or just ragequits is pretty high.
Killer anonymity does serve a purpose. People already dodge teammates over perceptions of 'this player doesn't have enough hours', now imagine how they'd react to a 5000 hour killer. I think this would make private profiles all but mandatory.
You’re making good points but the problem is these things already happen but only from the killer to survivor which is unbalanced. Killers can see screen names, they can click to view profiles, they can go to survivor TTV streams asking for help with achievements, they can stream snipe. If that’s going to be a thing then why not allow survivors the same benefit?
Personally I think removing everyone’s screen names from lobbies once you load in with the killer would be the best option, but then you’d also have to make it so survivor names in the match default to their character names. No one sees anyones names until the match ends.
-
because people would use that info to ensure they tunnel specific people more than they would use it for good.
-
I’d say a ping limit should be set at 200 or higher. That way it tries to make it as inclusive as possible for people in other countries, without allowing people to A. Take advantage of VPNs and 3rd party stuff and B. Ruining the game for others with unfair advantages. Though that would mostly be on the killer side since high ping benefits killers more than survivors.
Other live server games do this, so I don’t see why BHVR shouldn’t.

The power creep on aura perks has been steadily increasing over several years now. Distortion was likely the only thing holding them back, so there will probably be a number of changes and nerfs needed to aura reading. The game isn't designed for the killer to know where survivors are at all times.
While I appreciate that your instinct is that this will help the killer spread pressure (it might for some players) that's certainly not the play style we see dominate in the actual game.
What is also certain to happen is that killers know they can burn through tokens and continue tunneling one person while knowing where everyone else is. They can camp the hook knowing where everyone is and how they will probably approach for rescue.
A new excuse for camping and tunneling is now "but I'm just playing around distortion by not allowing their tokens to recharge". Not that those people need an excuse, but some people will justify anything.
W post. I literally said aura reading was gonna end up being OP once they nerfed the one perk survivors had to combat full aura builds.

The connection between whole team slugging and the finisher mori is that killers may be inclined to pursue any method to make it more likely to get to the last survivor. I don't think this particular behavior will increase too much outside of super high mobility killers (e g. Blight, Billy, etc.) since it's not likely too viable in most matches with slower killers. But a lot of people have talked about tunneling, camping, and slugging being more common in their matches after the finisher mori went live.
It may be that killers are seeing that there's a goal at the end of the match that they want to get to and feeling a bit more inclined to push to get to the finisher mori. Personally, I've seen much more aggressive use of what would normally be considered bm tactics in my own matches, and often feel less inclined to play survivor as a result since the update.
The connection with the finisher mori and two survivor left condition is that when a killer wants the finisher mori, they'll be more inclined to slug for a 4k when there's a prize for doing it. This I think is more prevalent now.
Hatch is meant to make the endgame not into a death hunt with no chance for the last survivor because then why would the last survivor even want to play it out? But slugging for the 4k forces that situation to happen, and now there's a reward for doing it.
Totally agree
-
Asking the devs to remove a game mechanic to ensure you 4K every single match is peak killer main logic. 🤣🤣🤣 You’re not entitled to a 4K every single match.
-
I don’t know about how balanced or fair this would be but personally I think the finisher mori needs to go. It’s made survivor games even more miserable since it’s inception all for a silly endgame animation.
-
@Brimp said:
Pretty sure it wasnt the finisher mori that caused 4 man slugging. Pretty sure it was because of someone wanting to do an experiment and the extra 20 seconds on hook.
To my recollection it’s an extra 10 second hook stage but that’s also true. No one asked for an extra 10 second hook stage either. The devs love adding stuff to this game that no one asked for, including finisher mori, that make the game worse to play, while ignoring legit requests to make this game better,
In any case my main point and the vast majority of my post is about the 4K slugging issue and the effect it has had on the game in 2v1 situations. Which now killer mains are basically calling for mechanics to force survivors to forfeit a game at 2 kills which is ridiculous and unreasonable. -
This is not true at all. In the years I’ve been playing I’ve had countless many games where in a 2v1 at least one survivor got out. No one is saying slugging for 4K didn’t already happen we are saying it has increased since the finisher Mori and it has with the slugging META that we are now in. Because now everyone wants that stupid finisher animation to end the match. -
I’ve gotten nothing but moris when I’m last survivors ever since they did that stupid basekit mori stuff
-
I will not be playing this game with voice comms. Same reason I don’t play COD and those kinds of games. This community is toxic and I’m not gonna be harassed and subjected to racism, sexism or other abuse by people for whatever reason they decide to be mad, because I blew a skillcheck or didn’t get to them before they went to second hook etc

That is the game survivors choose to play. If they want to see match through to the end they should play killer. If they don't mind the elimination style gameplay of survivor then play survivor. But I don't think it's fair to say a killer tunneling (eliminating a player faster than some would like) is toxic or that the killer feels it's alright to make the match awful by doing his job... Getting kills. Maybe the solution is make gens take considerably longer to complete and give survivors a respawn so they are never removed from the match but that would result in a whole different type of game thats not dbd.
I’d love it if people stop playing survivor for this reason. Then when everyone moves to killer and killer queues are 20-30 minutes long, maybe BHVR will actually do something. The game is a 1v4 asymmetrical. That’s the way it was designed and balanced. By tunneling someone out and making it a 1v3 at the start, it’s making the game into what it wasn’t designed to be, and messing up the balance.
And honestly that’s BHVRs fault for allowing it. Unfortunately most people who game are not going to play games as they’re intended they’re just looking for the quick easy win to get their dopamine hit and feeling of power. Until BHVR decides enough is enough, the only thing players can do is refuse to play the game. I truly hope survivors mains start switching to killer.

The answer to bm and toxic playstyles isn't "get better."
Beyond that, if a killer wants you out of the match bad enough, they're taking you out unless you're incredible at looping. There is a question of whether they feel like getting just a 1k if you're very good at looping, but that doesn't stop the problem if the killer just feels like it.
And if you're a weak enough link on a team, there are killers who feel it's alright to make the match awful for you by selecting you for elimination immediately. Then once your match has been ruined, the whole remaining team has a 3v1 because the killer thought it was alright to do that.
The real solutions to this are implementation of anti-tunnel mechanics, incentives for not tunneling, and changing the community culture.
You can’t incentivize not tunneling. The devs have tried that by giving buffs and all that did was make it easier to tunnel. Tunneling will always be a zero skill tactic that doesn’t require perks or add ons to be run to be effective. All incentivizing does is increase tunneling by giving them more tools to do it faster, especially since so many killer mains aren’t looking for fair or challenging matches. They’re just looking to win as quick and easy as possible.
The only way tunneling will stop is when it’s PUNISHED period. Punish it and give buffs elsewhere to compensate for taking away the effectiveness of the tunneling playstyle. Until that happens, nothing will change.

Pentimento blocks all the totems if the killer can manage to have all 5 totems relit at the same time.
This is generally fairly difficult to do, since it requires all 5 totems to be broken or cleansed first, and then none of the pentimento totems cleansed before the killer can relight all 5.
If you just remember where you cleansed your playing totem and go recleanse it when you see the first pentimento debuff you can counter this.
Ahh that is probably what happened. Thanks for letting me know.

Asking for "stats" on something with which it is impossible for us to get anything other than data on our own personal experience is disingenuous. My personal experience dictates, that the vast majority of the time i play, regardless of it is survivor or killer, everyone is a complete toxic douchebag that results in literally the most toxic community i have ever seen in a game. And this is coming from someone who plays DotA.
Its not just about words, its about actions. People don't "BM" in DotA nearly as often with their ACTIONS. Sure, they say bad words at you and slurs, but you just mute them and move on. DBD is on a different level, because people actively take actions in the game for the purpose of harassing the other side. No other game is like that on the scale of DBD in my experience. Sure, it happens in some games, but in DBD, it is nearly every single match i play.
Since the event started, i can count on 1 hand the amount of games that ended in a simple "gg wp" at the end where everyone genuinely were playing to have a good time, rather than ruin someone elses day.
It’s not disingenuous to ask for data from someone making a broad claim about an entire playerbase. If you’re gonna make the claim that the “overwhelming majority” of survivors are behaving a certain way then have proof to back that up. Otherwise re-state the way you say something.
Would have been very easy to say “I don’t know if it’s my MMR or what but in my experience I’m getting a lot of survivors acting this way.” The OP didn’t do that. They literally said “I played one game as killer so now it’s easy to see why survivors have a bad rep because the overwhelming majority act this way.”
So now we can tell what the overwhelming majority do based on one match? Okay. 😆 -
@Prometheus1092 said:
I been doing the event as survivor, mainly going for pumpkins. I have played countless matches, most have had the killer let survivors go to get PB but even the odd sweaty killer just got the kills and that was the end of it...next match.
I went killer once, I also didn't play seriously and let survivors win and go for event points. End of the match I had abuse from the survivors "l2p" "bad killer" lol any wonder why killers have no mercy and slug, tunnel, camp to get kills in normal mode? I know not all survivors are like that but an overwhelming majority are. I honestly wish I had played like I usually do but that's on me I suppose. Back to the usual play of tunneling, camping and slugging I think, if I'm going to have abuse hurled at me then I might as well give a good reason for it 😁
Where are your stats to show the majority of survivors are like this? Because I play meme killer friendly killer all the time and I’ve gotten maybe 1 out of 15 matches of survivors behaving this way. Sometimes survivors will just pop gens and leave because they don’t understand I’m memeing or they just don’t trust it. But I don’t get the toxic behavior when I play.
Point being.. my anecdotal experience is not proof of survivors statistically being one way or another the same as yours isn’t. So maybe post some stats if you’re gonna claim “majority of survivors are toxic” just because you’re upset at a few bad encounters you personally had.

You kinda ignored what i said besides that, this event IS balanced.
Use the smoke to juice the killer.
No it’s not balanced. One smoke bomb doesn’t do that especially if you’re dealing with a killer with good audio. I’ve rarely gotten any value from that. The killers benefits far outweigh the survivors. I made a post already going down the list of everything killers got this event vs survivor.
I also acknowledged that last years event was horrible survivor sided and killers didn’t have fun. Instead of balancing it back for both they simply buffed killers and nerfed survivors to where it’s now unbalanced for survivors. Thats not how it should be.
Anyway I’m not gonna engage in a debate where you feel like one smoke bomb means it balanced and people should just not play the event if they don’t like it, when it’s a once a year event and people SHOULD criticize unbalanced events to make them better. Like I said have a good one.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Killers can double tap with ghost, and survivors can escape chases with smoke bomb.
I would say this is pretty balanced - and fun.
You don't like it? - They made this an option, you can always go and play normal mode.
Man, I’m so glad I’m not a developer for DBD. No matter how hard they try to keep things balanced, there’s always going to be complaints over the smallest details.
I already explained in my main post why “just go play normal mode” is not an acceptable retort to people who look forward to playing a once a year event.
But some of yall love to only read what you want and ignore everything else. Have a good one.

Is there a good reason why the fourth survivor should be in checkmate once the third survivor is sacrificed?
The second sacrifice is essentially the 'check' before the checkmate. Which regresses the question; Is there a good reason why the last two survivors should cencede to a loss once the second survivor has been sacrificed?
Why are we arguing that a 2K is the benchmark for a killer win, and that it should automatically be upgraded to a 4K?
Because that is what we're saying when we argue that the solution should be to make it impossible for survivors to hide when two remain. You're removing the last option they have, and telling them to accept defeat and give up after 2 kills. With tunneling, 2 kills isn't difficult. So now we're rewarding tunneling.
this was exactly my point. Trying to further punish people for hiding is basically telling them that the game is over after 2 kills. If that’s the case then the game is clearly broken as that should not be the case nor the expectation for survivors to simply give themselves up when there’s only 2 left and several gens to do
-
No I don’t think they need to make exhaustion further benefit the killer more than it already does.
-
Unfortunately the last two survivors hiding is a result of the constant “slugging for the 4K” playstyle. They don’t wanna come out and do gens or even help the other person when they know killers are just gonna slug one and then likely camp the slugged survivor to get the 4th down. It’s understandable that they’re just like “hide it out as long as possible so maybe one of us has a shot at hatch.”
By punishing this, it basically send the message that the game is over when 2 people are left, which will result in more DCs and giving up on hooks.
This is how certain playstyles create counter playstyles that create counter playstyles etc.

This has been my experience as well, it seems like it’s not worth the time to go into the void as killer as gens just go too quick.
The smoke bombs are annoying and I h will say as survivor the void is pretty strong for extending chases or disappearing.you haven’t been playing in my games then. All day yesterday I had killers go get the haunt and then when in chase they waited until they were right on my back and released their haunt then did an M1 and basically insta down you. That may not have been the case in the beginning because people didn’t know to do that. But now that word is getting out, I’m getting killers doing it every match.

We just cant win either way.
This is the exact cycle I’m always seeing here.

I’m getting way more killers now who are running knockout just to 4 man slug and bleed people out at 5 gens. It’s ridiculous and unfun. I’ve started tabbing out or just taking the DC penalty during the matches. Literally just meant for people to be a jerk and troll others.

Its getting old seeing these same posts about windows.
Seriously just stop with the windows nerf demands. literally not a game changing perk at all and killers have Zanshin Tactics they can run.
If the OP doesn’t run the perk then great. Why try to nerf it for people that do? Makes me wonder if this isn’t killer pretending to be survivor to make it look like survivors the the perk. 🤣

I just played against a singularity where the only perks they ran were STBFL and unrelenting and no add ons and they easily wiped the floor with us. It was pods over every gen and loop point and just constantly slipstream to instant teleport to instant hits and downs. No cooldowns on anything.

Yes, this is against the rules and should be reported. However BHVR still needs to make it to where you lose collision with crows. Stop asking people to put a band aid on the symptom (report for griefing) instead of removing the cause altogether (removing the ability to grief by losing collision)
Why wouldn’t you just do this instead of having peoples matches ruined, then them having to record, then try to send a clip to BHVR and go through this whole process? We all know BHVRs reporting form doesn’t even allow you to upload your video. You gotta upload to your own YouTube acct and send them a link. But the issue of how burdensome the report function is, is another convo.

We could treat the bleed out button like the hatch, so that its not a win or a loss. Killers would start hooking if their 4k wasn't actually given as a 4k.
this would be a good idea.
-
@Feneroe said:
How about no? Survivors don't need any ridiculously strong buffs like that. Instead, just make it so a survivor can force bleed out after being on the ground so long.
The issue is that only benefits the killer. I don’t agree with infinite unbreakable at all but this also is not a fair option. Because then killers will just 4 man slug everyone knowing the survivors will force bleed out to get out of the match, killer gets their 4K. That takes zero effort, skill and artificially inflates MMR and kill rates
