I don’t need it explained. I just don’t agree with you.

Lmao... so, you see no issue with this?

Well... I don't even know how to reason with someone who cannot understand the problem here so all the best I guess.

  • @H2H said:

Killers are just not allowed to do anything, huh? No strategy, no tactics, no planning ahead. Survivors just gonna cry and cry and cry every time they lose until daddy BHVR comes along with more hand-holding, more free escapes, more second chances, and more killer nerfs.

Please watch the video above to explain the issue here, I am tired of having to explain this over and over again.

It's a guarantee I 💯 know a thousand fold more than you. Don't three gen yourself. Get good.

Yeah so obviously your agenda is to troll rather than have any valid discussion, so I will reply once more and only once.

Again, you clearly do not understand the premise here and you prove that with your own use of the phrase "Don't three gen yourself"

Hens can explain to you what is happening here and how this is NOT something survivors are doing to themselves (nobody has an issue with survivors who 3 gen themselves and killers defend that).

    You're missing my point.

These are all boring, unfun playstyles that unfortunately that killer is basically pigeonholed into because of a poorly designed kit.

All three need a rework, and some buffs in other areas to allow them to play differently.

Yes, it sucks when someone stakes out a 3gen early and just defends, much as it sucks when 2 survivors decide to sulk and play hide and seek around the map while avoiding AFK crows. But outside of recording and reporting, you can't do much to 'fix' it without interfering with legitimate play.

The majority of the time, 3gen situations are something survivors do to themselves.

No I get what you are saying but the point is the Knight 3 gen lock strategy has no counter. The others are unfun strategies that are of course a consequence of not so great design of the killer but they still have counter play.

The 3 gen lockdown with Eruption, COB etc has no counter and the Knight is an anti loop killer, even if a somewhat janky one at that. But they aren't playing to his power, they are exploiting a perk combo and his power to create an unwinnable scenario for survivors. Can you not see the distinction here?

It's like Bubba and camping or Twins and slugging.

Some killers only really have one viable way of playing against strong opponents.

I disagree, this isn't simply a viable strategy, it is exploiting bad design and creating an unwinnable scenario for your opponents where their only sensible option is to give up to avoid an hour long standoff.

Against Bubba you can still do gens, against Twins you can also do the same. Sure both of them are annoying, unfun and difficult to deal with but they don't force your entire team into a hostage situation from the outset.

  • Holy hell, you must DC a lot to get a 48 hour ban!

I have had really bad days in solo queue where I admit I have rage quit but the worst I have ever had is a 15 minute ban and by that stage I just figure today is a bad day for DBD and I stop trying to play.

If your internet is not stable enough to play a game, you should not play that game until you fix your net

  • @SkeletalElite said:

If someone is playing this way you lose even if you escape, the best thing you can do is have some respect for your time by letting yourself be hooked and going next

Well this is pretty much the only solution unless you want to waste an hour of your life... which I don't. So it makes me feel like why even bother playing against it at all? As at this stage we are just humouring the killers ego in a match we cannot win from the outset

  • @HugTheHag said:

I can't say with 100% certainty that the same thing applies to my bloodwebs, but I sure wish I had more item spawn than addons or worse, map offerings.

The only items I use somewhat frequently are medkits, and that's only brown and yellow ones with generally no addons (I'm a bit of a hoarder). It's ridiculous how many unwanted addons or map offerings I have when I'd much rather have a brown medkit to not die because my random teammate didn't want to heal me...

Yeah I generally only use brown medkits with no addons, though I guess I should be using them as I have a lot of them!

  • I agree @Aven_Fallen it is becoming very common now and it will hurt the game if it carries on like this. People always find unexpected ways to break things lol...

  • @Milkymalk said:

If you repair yourself into an unwinnable 3-gen, you lost by your own choices, just like when the killer defends only the center and suddenly all three last gens are on opposite ends of the map. They are undefendable and he lost by his own choices made.

The knight by itself is bad for the game, period. His power alone created this fringe scenario because he can deny a zone for so long.

And this is the issue, no rational person will argue against a killer defending a 3 gen survivors were stupid enough to create for themselves. But of course these Knight players are using perks and his unique power to create a 3 gen scenario right from the start and the potential for survivors to win against this is very low to borderline impossible

  • You raise a good point @SunaIIanu as protecting a 3 gen survivors organically created themselves is an entirely valid strat and a 3 gen against a Dr is a nightmare situation you are not going to win.

There is a line here and I don't know how BHVR could even begin to police this

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3294174#Comment_3294174

It is holding the game hostage. At some point the game needs to progress. Survivors have to do Gens and try to finish them, even if that means that they might die in the process. And if Survivors are doing that, the Killer has to commit to a chase at some point, because otherwise, THEY are not progressing the game. And yes, even if this means that they might lose the last Gen.

The Objective for the Killer is to kill all Survivors. And prolonging the game to the Time LImit to achieve this is not the way to go.

So yeah, a Killer refusing to try to kill the Survivors to just regress 3 Gens all the time is holding the game hostage, completely regardless if they decide to do that later or plan it from the start. The same like Suvivors are holding the game hostage if they dont try to do Gens.

At some point, both sides have to risk losing in order to progress the game.

I agree this is holding the game hostage but the trouble is how do BHVR police that?

But you identify the very issue I and many others are facing in that the killer will not allow the game to progress, they will not commit to any chases that take them outside of the 3 gen they identify at the start of the match.

You cant even rush a middle gen before that as survivor as the killer has the advantage of seeing gen auras from the start

  • @HugTechLover said:

This is why as soon as we spawn in, we identify 3 gen areas and break them up asap. We don’t allow 3 gens to happen.

You don't understand what his happening here.

The killer is identifying 3 gens from the start and defending them without leaving the area for pretty much the entire match. This isn't survivors mindlessly rushing gens as so often happens... I have no issue with that as survivors doing the safe gens first without splitting them is on them.

  • It can be pretty annoying to deal with as killer but it is a hell of a lot better than it was before so I am kind of okay with it. Though I think anything that provides an extra health state is not necessarily a good thing.

However solo survivor is pretty rough at the moment so it is hard to feel DH is too strong for the current meta

You missed the point inwas making it's not a unwinnable strat just a very difficult strat to break if the Survivors don't realize it before the trap is sprung.

I have broken 3-Gen locks with fellow Survivors...it's not easy I will grant you that because if just one person makes a mistake then it's all over.....but it does takes at least 2 players to help break it.

I would argue in certain gen configs it is unwinnable. I had it today on Haddonfield where there was the usual external gen outside Myers house, one in the same house and one in the garden beside it. The Knight just set up shop there and every attempt to lead them away failed as they just returned to the 3 gen.

I had the same on RPD where they did exactly the same thing with mid map as they got lucky with a gen spawn in the office and two in mid. This was completely unwinnable as even though we could escape and heal as he would not chase, we obviously lost any progress to COB and Eruption if he go downs (which he struggled to do).

  • @VikingDragonXii said:

I once had a match as Vommy Mommy and the Survivors made the 3 Gen mistake quite early and I defended it....I would chase them off but when I saw they were trying to lead me to a Dead Zone I went right back. I won't go into a mindless chase when I know there's 2-3 other survivors waiting for me to leave......

.....This was before they lowered the max match time and the match lasted 75 mins.....this was also before the meta shake up and I only used 1 Gen slowdown perk.

Yes the 3-Gen is a strong strat but not unbeatable. The mistake those survivors did was they only work d on any of the gens as a single person and never split it up or doubled up do I could easily hold them off.

To reiterate, I have no issue if survivors organically 3 gen themselves or stupidly don't split gens on obvious 3 gen maps like Azarov's or Suffocation Pit etc. However as you probably realise, that is not what this strat involves.

If survivors are stupid enough to 3 gen themselves then so be it, my solo team mates do it all the time and I am often the poor sucker who goes for the riskier middle gen early on to avoid this. But a killer using their power and broken perks to camp a 3 gen from the start of the match is broken. There should never be a single strat that creats an unwinnable scenario

  • @Lovez600 said:

Don't 3 gen yourself. Problem solved.

    It's not whataboutism.

Whataboutism would be if I were to say "Yeah, but survivors do the same thing by immersing for an hour and refusing to do gens".

I'm just straight up sighing as the naughty list has now reached the floor and rolled under the couch.

I don't know how you can add this to any valid list though? It is creating an unwinnable strategy that breaks the game. It is an essentially an exploit and not simply a valid strategy that survivors don't like

  • @Nazzzak said:

Yeah I noticed yesterday I kept getting add ons or map offerings and bugger all medkits or toolboxes. I actually started levelling up a different survivor, thinking the one I had been levelling up was glitched or something, but it was the same deal again

Yeah so I think they need to adjust the rate of items appearing as clearly they have messed with something as I am running out of medkits constantly now which I never used to do

  • @SOULWARRIOR71K said:

So what is the actual “solution” being proposed here? Nerfing perks or making 3 gens harder to defend will just change the target from camping gens back to camping you 😂.

Camping killers lose matches if the survivors are smart, this is only the tactic of the desperate or the incompetent.

This 3 gen lock strategy is an unwinnable tactic that creates a situation where the match cannot progress and your only option is to give up or stubbornly wait out an hour before you auto lose anyway.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3294135#Comment_3294135

I'm less defending it and adding it to the long, long, long, long, long list of things Killers shouldn't be allowed to do.

This is really just what about-ism though and doesn't take away from the fact this is broken and is being exploited fully by unethical people.

We all know there is a long list in the survivors rule book for killers that can be dismissed as a joke. But turning the game into an automatic stalemate that has no win condition other than giving up or going a full hour is indefensible.

  • @Seraphor said:

I thought higher prestige was supposed to come with a higher chance of rares.

But my P13 Ghostface regularly gets entire levels (above 25) that are nothing but commons and uncommons.

If 10+ isn't high enough to make a difference I don't really see the point.

I always did prestige only for the cosmetic/achievement side of things, as I found after the first few I realised any rarer items didn't seem noticeably more common.

But I feel that with more BP potentially being earned (if incentives etc are active) they have tried to balance out the BW so you are not overflowing with strong items to the point they are in every match. But I think they have messed up the balance, or maybe it is also feeling much more apparent with incentives being disabled?

But looking at my webs so far today...

  • @WesCravenFan said:

"If a killer loses all five gens, he's lost the game."

    "It's unfair if a killer defends a 3 gen."

    Hmmmm.

    As Edgar already said...

This is creating a scenario for solo queue players that is unwinnable and honestly you are better off to just give up so you can move on to a fun match where you are not being forced into a tedious stalemate.

I play a lot of killer too and I see how often survivors 3 gen themselves without any influence from me (they just choose the safest gens to do first), that is not an issue when I end up in a situation where I have no choice but to defend a 3 gen.

But these scummy players are creating a scenario where they just camp 3 gens and no matter what survivors do they cannot break the obvious inevitable 3 gen.

Not sure how you can possibly defend this?!

  • @barsw said:

So survivors speed for gens must be cut harder

Gens are the most boring aspect of the game and making them last longer would be as much fun as making slugging meta.

Either way, that has nothing to do with the fact this strategy being used is broken and unbeatable. There is no what about-ism that can excuse that.

  • Ah yes so it isn't just me...

It is even worse now there is no incentive either as it takes so much longer to get through every web and you only get BS items. I am running out of medkits on my remaining survivors I am levelling up as I only play solo queue which means I don't get out with my item that often

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3294035#Comment_3294035

BP is just low in general imo, like sometimes playing smart hurts your BP gains but play bad and you can get more.

Quite often I lack altruism as everyone else goes for saves, I have to do gens and chases lol

As for solo Q it's nottoo bad when you donr have people give up or not do gens, that's a matchmaking issue though. Legit my last game I had 2 aces just moon walking all game never touched a gen but I cant expect to win that with idiots that think they're cool

Lol yeah this is why I dodge survivor lobbies with obvious SWF's with flashlights... they are usually absolutely useless and waste time chasing the killer for saves/blinds rather than doing objectives and you never get out of those matches alive

  • Generally daily but I have had breaks for many months at a time

Steam says I have 86 hours in the past two weeks so I guess I play quite a lot compared to most people

  • I forgot about this thread and started my own complaining about this... but it is becoming a genuine issue with Knight in particular. They just set up a 3 gen and camp it and there is nothing you can do when they can constantly regress gens and incapacitate you with Eruption.

I feel like I don't want to play against Knights at all at this point as they all seem to be doing this now

  • @Nirgendwohin said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3294023#Comment_3294023

yes the queue times on EU servers are awful as survivor. not sure why the times are so high. dose nobody wants to play and the lobby only opens when 4 people have pressed rdy?

what are the times for killers?

I notice the incentives were mostly for killer at peak SWF times in my region, for obvious reasons. I think there are a lot of us who will tolerate SWF's if there is an incentive but if not we will just play survivor instead.

I have not been playing much killer but my games have been instant otherwise and it sounds like this issue isn't just in my region. I was already iri 1 killer and survivor so have no incentive to grind for max BP on reset either...

Really wish they would hurry up and fix this!

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3294023#Comment_3294023

Yeah I'm a survivor main myself, just easier to chill on. Hell I'm scrolling the forums while on a gen and type between games lol

And yeah I'm feeling it alot, that 20k odd a game doesnt do much when you add in lobby times etc.

Agreed and solo queue is pretty rough at present so 25k BP is a good match

  • Sorry double post it for some reason changed to a draft so I thought I had not replied... I cant delete it either...

  • Pulsar summed it up, most of the player base is casual and so balancing for the better players is a recipe for death for DBD.

Some things are indeed broken (Eruption) even if there are also people who cry about anything and everything as well.

  • Survivor queues are slow asf again as nobody but the absolute sweat lords wants to play killer it seems.

I am only playing survivor as the incentive is the main reason I play killer. Not that I hate playing killer but I find it far more stressful and requires a lot more energy as you have zero down time.

But OMG is the grind horrible as you say, I am really noticing the incentives being gone and my progress to all characters with all perks is grinding to a halt.

  • The biggest problem with the current meta for me can be summed up in one word: ERUPTION

I have no issue with gen slowdowns in general but stacking full slowdown builds with Eruption is just brutal against solos and very unfun to deal with.

  • I buy every chapter tbh, even the ones I hate like Twins and Trickster (though I held off for sales/shards lol)

  • @Xernoton said:

Haven't noticed that yet. Maybe its just bad luck? I have however experienced that some Items and addons appear rarely in the BW but when they appear, they come in stacks.

Hmm yeah I would say it is bad luck but it is just web after web, this one is actually 'good' as it has a toolbox... even though I don't use them...

    image.png

  • I have no problem with Overcharge or Call of Brine but Eruption is a big problem as are full slowdown builds.

I think they should make slowdown perks like exhaustion perks where stacking them makes no sense (like running DH and SB together) so you cant create scenarios such as this.

I played against a Knight with this build except he had Nowhere To Hide instead of Brutal but the effect was the same... He just camped mid RPD and there was a top and bottom gen with another just outside mid. I ultimately gave up as I just wanted to play a normal game.

The guy saw no issue with what he was doing and said "if it is broken then why is it in the game?" and unfortunately these are the kinds of people who are out there ruining the game for everyone.

  • I think because of the time of year more people are winding down and playing games so of course that means lots of SWF players. Generally SWF's come in with a plan and will bring map offerings etc...

I only play solo these days and honestly I escaped 1 out of the last 5 matches and that was barely. I am not seeing offerings or sweaty stuff either

  • Decent Billy's tend to play honourably too, I never see a true skill Billy tunnel or camp even on the most awful map. I have been trying to learn Billy but so far he is by far the hardest and most frustrating killer to play

  • Finally someone has said it!

  • I just run in fast as I can as the guard disappears when you unhook... though it can end up in a trade which I will do if they are going to 2nd stage etc

  • Yes I refuse to run builds I hate to play against and that includes specific perks like Eruption.

Hand on heart I can honestly say I have run Eruption literally once and that was to get my Nemesis adept and I got that on my first attempt so never had to use the perk again.

I don't mind NOED so much as survivor as it usually is used by less skilled killers anyway but it is another perk I refuse to run as I feel it is tacky and rewards failure.

  • @xfireturtlex said:

Same here. I always follow the bonus. Doesn't really matter to me which role I play unless I'm doin certain archive challenges. Hope they rush this through cuz it's definitely effecting que times.

    Agreed

  • I would not link them personally but up to you. Steam isn't going anywhere btw

  • Onryo has been my main killer lately but I can honestly say I have never played this strategy and never would.

It is what makes the Twins so awfully unfun to play against - slugging and camping slugs with Victor is the best strategy but very unfun to verse. Being slugged is probably the most boring and frustrating thing for me personally as you cant play the game at all (my biggest issue with Eruption too).

  • @Sheridan_LT said:

Yeah, me too honestly! I prefer Killer over Survivor most of the time unless Survivors are really sweaty that day, but now I find Killer queues are LITERALLY 15 minutes long. Like, I cannot queue for Killer in under 10 minutes, it's ridiculous.

I would hope ASAP too, but they kill-switched Nowhere to Hide being a good perk again and Twins being a usable Killer until 2023, and I only like one of those.

I honestly wasn't sure if it made much difference to the queues but clearly it does! It has been so good having instant matches most of the day with incentives, let alone the extra BP. Fingers crossed this gets fixed very soon

  • Believe me, very little good comes from end game chat so don't be in too much of a hurry for that. You will likely turn it off even if you had it, as it is generally better for your sanity

  • I take free stuff and don't complain about free stuff personally. Frosty eyes cosmetics have generally been a bit of a meme imo, I used to run frosty eyes on Nurse as it makes you look like a baby killer... Not my preferred cosmetic really but free stuff is free stuff

  • I wish I was getting more of what you are getting then, not that I want boring easy matches where I just sit on M1 without pressure and escape for free. But I am getting sweaty asf killers running full slowdown builds (Eruption always included of course, just to make it as annoying as possible) and the truly boring slugging for the 4k tactic... not fun tbh.

I would love to see some middle ground so games can be less sweaty

1 … 32 33 34 35 36 … 49
