This DS nerf was a mistake, they made the perk unusable, but they didn't solve the killer tunneling problem, I had an idea that would be interesting to make the DS fair:

-he would have 5 seconds of stun

-would work in the end game

-Ds would not trigger on match if you go from injured to healed state

my idea would be that the ds would be useful when the killer was putting pressure to the point of surv not being able to heal, currently the ds is seen as an extra healing slot, I find it ridiculous for a player to surv several times in the boon totem for example and still have Ds, but it would still be useful against those killers who focus on wanting to take a player out of the game early on

I would be happy if they returned the stun back to 5 seconds and leave everything the way it was before that. 3 seconds is not enough to make any real distance

That's not the problem, but the game allows the killers to be too oppressive, I'm personally the type that thinks that in all games, players have to give their best to win, but in DBD that doesn't generate fair matches, being due to the asymmetric issue, or the bad planning of the perks, this is the fault of the devs and not the players, either survs or killers

to give you an idea, DBD is strong for survs as long as there are 4 survs alive, after one dies, it seems that the game totally favors the killer depending on the level of the players, the killers have tools to find generators, camp and tunnel without need training or perks,

while survs need training or perks to be able to deal with strong killers or slow gens, I still don't think players should limit their gameplay, as it gives the impression that the game is killer sided, but the game itself needs it create constraints to balance matches

I feel they need to punish tunnelling more somehow, as this is a dirty tactic that was rarely used years ago but is quite common now. Reducing DS stun to 3 seconds has effectively rendered that perk useless which does not help.

Yes and I understand that. My thing is there isn't a time survivors don't complain about slowdown perks. Before Eruption's buff ppl complain about pain res, and ruin, and after eruption nerfed they will go back to complaining about pain res or some other slowdown perk. I do think Eruption needs a rework but not a nerf. If yall keep crying for a nerf all the dev will do is nerf it like thana and make it completely useless. Instead how about yall ask for a rework and make it still useful and not useless?

Imo I would do one of two things to Eruption. One: nerf the incap timer back down to 15sec but buff the dam it does to the gen when it goes off. Two: Remove the incap altogether and replace it with a gift of pain-like effect where the survivors who were working on the gen is affected with a repair debuff so they can continue to work on gens but at a much slower rate.

As I said tho no matter what the devs decide to do to the perk it's not going to make ppl happy. They just move on to the next slowdown perk they want to be nerfed till there isn't any good perks left in the game for killers to use.

Sure, I get that people will complain about anything and everything and that will no doubt continue.

But this is completely valid and personally I do not think a status like Incapacitated should exist other than perhaps when Victor is on a survivor or they are at tier 3 madness.

Either way it will get nerfed but sadly I doubt that will happen until next year after the xmas season. So the perk will be winning killers matches they otherwise would probably lose.

Yea i had one game with bubba onm eyrie. I hid in a snowman let them do 3 gens ambushed one from above in main building and downed her. managed to get 8 hooks with lightborn, shadoowborn, unrelenting (to get out of the snowman faster ^^) and enduring. Literally a complete meme build with a bottom / mid tier killer on a map thats really sh*t for bubba. Either way they were a 4man swf with a 3 gen head start all pallets left at the end they trashtalked me so hard :p The toxicity is insane survivors cry at endgame & killers slug you for 4 minutes :D

Yeah there are those players who will complain no matter how chilled you are. I still get that even though I play incredibly fair to the point I am probably a bit silly for being so nice...

But there are those players who are so wholesome and appreciate the fun and we all leave the match smiling and wishing each other well - good vibes all round. I aim for more of that and try to brush off the toxic cry baby morons

  • @BlueRose said:

Trust me after the devs end up nerfing eruption to the ground as they did with thana the baby survivors will go after pain res next. The reality of things is survivors hate any type of gen slowdown no matter what the perk is. All they want is to pick the pick map, bring their broken items with broken add-ons, gen rush, and t-bag the killer at the gates and say gg ez in the chat afterward. The problem is if they got their way it would just create more nurse and blight mains since nurse is like the only killer in the game that doesn't have to run any type of gen slowdown or regression perks. She can easily get around and down ppl fast enough to keep up with BNP toolboxes and hyperforce builds.

I truly believe dbd community doesn't really want game balance, They want to be the side that wins all the time. That goes for killers and survivor mains.

Nobody rational has a problem with Pain Res, it is easy to counter and still gives regression to a killer.

The problem with Eruption, as stated many times, is that it is punishing solo queue and has no counter play.

  • @Redrum411 said:

this is a bad time for an event to happen at the end of a month cycle. killers are trying to rank up to iri 1 or close to it so they are going for wins.

Try and play some killer matches and be the fun killer.

For whatever reason both sides are playing more competitive and less fun or funny ways.

I do exactly that; try to be the fun killer.

I NEVER run full slowdown builds, I never run NOED or annoying stuff like Franklin's or Eruption and I NEVER tunnel off hook or camp yet I win almost every match.

I try to play for fun more so than 'wins' as I no longer care to sweat to win and I wish more people did this as the game would be a lot more fun for both sides.

That being said, there are just some lobbies you are never going to have a fun game with and I try to just move on and not take it out on the next lot therefore perpetually repeating the cycle of toxicity

You can't get hit with multiple times unless you're not doing anything, it's on a cool down if someone is being chased you should be on the Gen there's literally better perks other than eruption that locks up the Gen, I'm not sure why you guys are going after eruption so hard ,I think you all just want to feel some power at this point man just need all the perks we have,we don't need to have a shot at winning as where survivors can waste your time in chases, flashlight stuns boiled over with break out ,sabo box to win but killers aren't allowed to have a perk that stops you only for 25 seconds ? Wow well they bots now soon they want even need killers and survivors can just play against AI trapper.

It isn't just 25 seconds though, it is multiple times every match and as solo survivor you have no counter to it. If you are on the gens trying to help your random team mates you get punished and it is more than a minute at time every match.

Killers are winning entirely because of one perk and it is an absolute joke. I play both sides btw and am Iri 1 for both killer and survivor so it isn't like I don't understand gens can go fast. But Eruption is broken and unfair

  • It sure was a hell of a lot less frustrating to play against I will say that much...

Just had a match on RPD against a Knight where he basically camped mid map which had a top and bottom gen and he was running Eruption, Call of Brine and Overcharge and basically we ended up in a situation like Hens' video where we could not win as his perks had the mid section locked down.

I called him out post match (I gave up as did not want to spend an hour in this match) and his attitude was the same as many - Eruption and this tactic are not broken as they are in the game...

I miss the old meta, this is not fun and incredibly unfair when you can just camp a 3 gen and win by attrition

  • @Unimatrix00 said:

Sounds like you feel entitled to bonus points as a survivor.

I play whichever side has the incentive... but many of us were not getting any extra BP

OP maybe they kill switched incentives as they have been bugged and you aren't getting them more often than not?

EDIT: okay I just noticed that Tweet... that explains it then

  • No I don't. Legion is a cheap killer who gets basically free injures that are extremely difficult to avoid.

Nobody likes mending and being forced to do it over and over during a match is beyond tedious.

The strategy against them is don't mend until you have to, do not heal constantly as you will lose and last of all SPLIT UP. So many times in solo queue I see my team mates group together so when he goes into frenzy he gets easy deep wounds as survivors are all together. If you constantly heal after every deep wound Legion gets massive slowdown and you will ultimately lose as the match will last forever and pallets will all get used up

If you split to opposite ends of the map Legion gets no pressure and no use out of killer instinct. Legions power may give them cheap free injures but after that they are still an M1 killer that has to chase you down.

  • Myers and I have been loving Onryo lately

I was a Nurse main but honestly I don't have fun with her lately as destroying pretty much every team gets old and I want to have more interaction with others

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/357697/why-pain-res-is-fine-while-eruption-isnt

Eruption isn't that powerful lol if someone can make use out of any perk it's OP in this game

    How is it not powerful?

There is no way to counter it for solo survivors and it can make it so you literally cannot play the game for over a minute at a time if you get hit with it several times a match as I always am on a gen if not being chased. No perk in the game other than Eruption makes others unable to do anything

  • Depends on the time of day and the day of the week. On a Saturday night at say 8pm I guarantee that every second match or maybe more has at least a 2man SWF if not a full SWF. During the weekdays at 4pm or something? Probably not...

  • I don't even know how they would change him as the entire problem is his design in general. It is the same issue with a character like Twins, the fundamental design of the character encourages the most unpleasant and unfun strategies and only a complete redesign could make them less unpleasant to play against

  • I just spent a minute and 1/4 completely unable to do anything due to Eruption against a solo team... this is a huge amount of time in DBD and against uncoordinated solos this creates a scenario where solo survivors lose entirely because the killer has one perk.

The situation with Eruption is beyond ridiculous at this point... this cannot go on for much longer

  • I got hit by Eruption 3 times in my last match... so for a minute and a 1/4 I literally could not do anything as part of an uncoordinated random solo lobby. Anyone claiming this is fair cant really understand how important a minute can be in DBD...

  • Yeah I guess there is the point of why even have them but I guess they are more a festive ornament than a game changing addition. I am still seeing both survivors and killers using them even though they obviously don't have much value.

  • Just had yet another match where I got hit multiple times with Eruption and the killer won entirely because of this perk as we were all solos. I even tried gen tapping like people did in the old Ruin days... it does not work of course.

This perk seriously needs to be addressed but sadly I cant see that happening until next year now :(

    Situation is beyond ridiculous

  • I would have liked extra BP items or something but otherwise meh, it is all good really as daily login bonus stuff isn't bad. I think the snowmen are a lot better these days as they don't take hits for survivors and as killer nobody has the time to be insidious camping in snowmen when there are gens to be pushing survivors off.

Snowmen last year meant an extra hit to down survivors; effectively a third health state and with old DH it was often 4 health states to get a down - not fun for killers

  • @StarLost said:

It's a vicious cycle. Survivors are sweaty because killers are sweaty because survivors are sweaty because killers are sweaty, and on and on it goes.

Right now, if I want to meme around in snowmen, I know that I need to take control of the game first. Because the other side are going to be playing to win too.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3291475#Comment_3291475

Franklins? Unless you're rolling 4 stacked medkits, it's a wasted slot.

Eruption is strong, but like most things in this game the counter is coordination. DbD is not and cannot be balanced around solos.

Prove, and some of the new perks are plenty strong.

Franklin's is just annoying and shows paranoia and a hostile attitude, I am not actually recommending it as a perk to run.

Eruption is not just strong, it is outright broken and punishes the weakest role in the game. You cant balance around solo survivors of course, you cant ever fully balance an asymmetrical game by its inherent nature but that is a whole separate argument in itself... But you also cannot allow something that specifically punishes the weakest role in the game.

Not denying Prove can be strong but if they are constantly under pressure to get unhooks and stay alive, they wont be hammering gens together in peace. Most matches I lose the first two gens pretty fast as I am sure most of use do... but as I start getting hooks and gain momentum they struggle to get those last gens and Prove isn't going to help.

Either way, I don't run 'unfun' builds that I don't enjoy going against as I want to have fun chilled out games. Sure I get sweaty SWFs where there is no joy to be had but they aren't every game

  • I use them to practice Billy sometimes as I find him impossible to play as he is so going into live matches would be miserable. I also have used them to learn the basics of killer powers as I am finally getting around to playing all the killers I own but never played.

They are a useful tool for learning basics but no match for human opponents and I could never only play against them over real opponents. You learn their quirks pretty quickly and it becomes only useful for getting used to basic mechanics rather than mastery of a killer

  • I am getting this all the time on PC, on survivor at present and not getting the bonus either

hey im just following what survivors are running, they bring tryhardy perks i do too, but again aren't they going into the game with most unfun perks as well?

and im complaining because with or without that build, survivors run the same build over and over, i don't know how long it has been since i saw a different build that those, i even tried to spice it up a bit with devour without undying just to mess around and you do realize im playing pig, not nurse or wesker or anything broken, and for some reason according to all the comment so far im not allowed to complain

I dunno, I guess 'unfun' is a pretty subjective term but as someone who plays both sides I find Eruption and Franklin's to be far more annoying than anything survivors bring.

The most annoying perk I see in your example is Dead Hard and while I do think it can be annoying it is fairly easy to play around.... unlike Eruption/sweaty slowdown builds. They are not particularly sweaty builds other than the DH and maybe Prove but as killer I think you want survivors to group up on gens rather than split pressure all over the map.

If you are wanting fun chilled survivors, you are sending the wrong message is about all I can say here.

...you just had to read just a tiny bit more and you would understand exactly what u said in the last line

Try playing in response to how the survivors play and adjust your sweatiness in response to them imo

that build is in response to exactly to idk how many games of trying to have fun

But you don't know how they are going to play going into the match...

You are going into a match with arguably the most unfun possible perk you can use on killer at present (if you read these forums you would be well aware of this) then complaining survivors don't know how to have fun? I mean, you might as well add Franklin's to the build and make it scream 'fun' lol

I get it, I play a lot more killer than survivor lately (killer incentives always seem to be on for some reason) and you need slowdown but sweaty Eruption based slowdown builds are not sending a message of 'fun' to your opponents.

  • Bruh... when a killer is running Eruption I have to say the last thing I feel is on their mind is 'fun'.

I play based on how the survivors play, you cant go into a match expecting a chill game of messing around as this usually doesn't work out. If the survivors are clearly not very experienced or are meme lords then I will do the same but I found going into matches as say no perk Trapper and intending to have a fun match usually backfires.

I am more than happy to let everyone go at the end of the match if it was a fun match, as feel good experiences are more important than 'winning' to me these days

Try playing in response to how the survivors play and adjust your sweatiness in response to them imo

  • I have not really seen anything out of the ordinary, in fact if anything it has been less sweaty. Experiences may differ of course...

  • I think the easiest solution would be to allow survivors to 'concede' if there are only two left and they are slugged on the ground. Then it allows them to move on and the killer and last survivor can battle to RNG gods to see who gets to hatch first...

  • If you think that and you play a lot of GF then I strongly recommend you check out Esskay (no 1 GF) on Twitch. He is in my region and playing against him is rough as you know by the time you realise he is there you are already 99'd and about to go down.

  • I feel like SBMM is mostly off unless a lot of people are in the queues. As survivor or killer I find lobbies have some pretty obvious and wide variations in the skill levels of survivors. I feel they made changes to prioritise finding faster matches over accuracy. Probably why they removed the rank system, to stop players from complaining about the wildly varying differences in ranks in matches.

I think it is better for both sides... as killer it means other than SWFs of god tier players, I am not going against full random teams comprised of gods and I always have a weak link to make matches feel less impossible. For survivor it means I get very fast matches whereas in the old days nobody wanted to play killer in red ranks so you need to have something else to do while you waited for a game.

I will take fast matchmaking over perfect SBMM any day

  • Event is okay, I generally prefer double BP but I will take free stuff and daily login rewards too.

It is good they removed the ability for snowmen to tank hits too as that was pretty unfair to killers in the last one.

  • It is one of my pet hates too, the hatch mechanic is really the issue here though.

As killer I cant be bothered unless the survivors were particularly unpleasant, in which case I will slug for the 4k on principle.

  • Oni and Huntress are pretty bad as others have said. I like to use Nemesis/PWYF on some killers but other than that Oni is pretty crap perk wise. Huntress Lullaby can be pretty funny if you actually get 5 stacks against average survivors but of course being a Hex 9 times out of 10 you lose it before you get any value

  • @UnknownKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3290332#Comment_3290332

Okay lets see first of all:

You need battlefield view.If a survivor was downed and killer last much time to get him surely much pallets were used in the area.

If the surv last from 0 to 15 secs to get downed on first chase that surv barely wont stand 10 secs luckily vs killer when not much pallets left.

If the surv last longer you have like 10 secs that u can repair safe without grtting hit by eruption. After that i strongly recomend to stop repairing even if it seems he escaped. If after that time you wait 15 secs and that surv is not downed its safe to repair.

    Your welcome for the advise.

Hint: Bond is extremely useful to know whats happening on the battlefield.

Sorry I just don't buy this as a viable strategy.

Do you upload content anywhere? I would like to see videos of this in action if possible, as some of the best players in the world such as Hens or Otz (latter more trusted and experienced than the best) cant even read matches to this degree of accuracy to avoid Eruption in solo queue.

There are too many variables here to possibly ever do this with any accuracy (killer skill level, survivor skill level, mindgames, latency and so on...). Bond is not going to solve this either

  • I tend to use Jolt or Scourge Hooks, both if I know the lobby are sweaty players. But most of the time with one slowdown I will win the match even if it gets down to 1 gen left. Against the very top players you are probably going to lose no matter what you do but thankfully 99.9% of public lobbies are nowhere near that good.

Edgarpoop is right though, there are always those people who will go overkill and unfortunately you have to account for the lowest common denominator...

  • Nurse was my main killer even though I don't play her as much now but I have NEVER used Starstruck on her. I totally agree that it is completely broken and way overkill on her and I completely understand why people don't want to play against that. I find Iri Heads just as obnoxious too even after they got nerfed...

  • @EntitySpawn said:

I'm a survivor main so I dont really do killer, this was mainly due to when SBMM was first added and every game was a mega sweat and then they tweaked it and it's much better.

But the issue I have is survivors will often play bad and make a bunch of mistakes and moan the killer is OP or something else is.

I was having a conversation earlier that getting adepts isnt skill based and you just rely on bad survivors being inefficient to help but that was met with insults and "bad killer" but I can just tell good and bad players apart and I feel people dont see mistakes being made.

I never expect everyone to be amazing, but I do see alot of survivors be very inefficient or go down in places they really shouldn't against the killer but blame the killer and not their actions

Ah okay well either way I do agree that many people don't take responsibility for their own misplays. But I do think gen control builds in particular can win games all by themselves and create a very boring meta. On both sides if the players really want to win and bring the sweatiest stuff possible, they will almost certainly win unless they get very unlucky with RNG or make some serious misplays

  • @EntitySpawn said:

I'm not sure, recent days just seem like its non existent.

Like it's never been great but it feels like its non existent atm so I'm wondering what's going on. The no DC penalty is questionable, explains why I'm seeing them so much

Hmm well I can confirm that for me my lobbies are definitely all over the place as far as skill levels go (unless it is obviously a 4 man SWF).

  • I thought this was just SBMM in general as I have long suspected it very much prioritises faster matchmaking over accuracy. But yeah I do find that my lobbies can have absolute gods and very obvious total babies who drop god pallets at 5 gens the second get within 30 meters of them lol

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3290465#Comment_3290465

If you win with no regression at all then you arent versing good survivors.

Not saying you are bad player yourself but you cant play super nice and have no gen defense verse good players and win all your games it's just not how it works. You'll be versing far weaker opponents than you should be.

I agree the meta is boring, but I dont blame killers running slowdown as without it games are over in 5mins easy if not faster

Oh I agree in that most players are not good, so the playstyles that people engage in to 'win' matches are not only unfun but actually completely unnecessary in the vast majority of public matches. The worst of that at present is the gen control meta (Eruption being the obvious big problem) which is not only boring but very oppressive against the vast majority of the player base.

From the number of posts you have I can only assume you are fairly experienced and if so you will not doubt win most of your killer games, as you know the truly great survivors are not that common.

  • I disagree and with the current meta I think most of us have experienced matches where the killer won entirely because they had a full gen control build as opposed to genuine skill.

As far as wanting to win? Well of course winning is nice but the funny thing is I never tunnel, never camp, never use regression builds or run NOED etc and I win 90% of my matches even though I really don't care much about winning (I want to have fun not sweat).

Though I do think most survivors in particular are casual and therefore probably not the greatest players, a lot of the complaints are completely valid and are not solely because people are just plain bad.

Retire it from perks, but keep it as part of killer powers and addons

If it was extremely limited and not for 25 seconds at a time, ever. Not only is it unfair making players useless for that long, it is also very boring as you cant really play the game.

Incapacitated makes sense when it's something like being jumped on by Victor, because that gives you something else to do. Most other debuffs let you do something, even if you're worse at it, or lack certain capabilities. Eruption is fairly unique in that you just have to stand around uselessly for half a minute, unharmed but somehow inexplicably unable to work on ANY generator, or even open chests. And even that wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't so spammable.

Okay sure, fair example but otherwise incapacitated is a terrible mechanic imo and outside of this example it should not exist

  • @UnknownKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3290222#Comment_3290222

So its not possible to know how good its the surv looping and if he has pallets on the area looping.

I barely get hit by eruption and Im solo Q

So tell me, how do you counter Eruption in solo queue as you appear to be claiming to have solved the issue nobody else has?

How you can tell the skill level and location of random survivors looping a killer somewhere on the map is beyond me. So please tell me how you also can determine all this to avoid being hit with Eruption?

With all due respect, I am going to call BS on this

  • Unless you are in a SWF on comms where you can call out to your team mates you are about to go down... you literally cant, there is no counter play.

Pain Res seemed like it was going to be too OP in the early days but by comparison it is an absolute pleasure to deal with as solo survivor. At least there is counter even if you cannot stop the regression side of it and you can still play the game if you are stupid enough to get hit with it.

I think the incapacitated status should be retired, it is a terrible mechanic that should never be in the game

  • I get why people dislike Hag as chases are not really the most efficient way to play her and chases are generally the most intense/fun parts of DBD. I don't mind Hag so long as they aren't boring hook in basement then lay 50 million traps kind of Hags...

But the most frustrating thing with Hag for me isn't even Hag, it is my solo team mates are often absolutely clueless against Hag and we lose for that reason more than anything. I started DBD when Urban Evasion was still quite meta and I loved that perk in my early days (lol) and Hag was a lot more common so survivors knew how to deal with her.

Edit: as far as playing Hag, the current meta does make it hard to get value out of her but send yourself to a map like Swamp and if you lose you are probably not the greatest with her imo

The most adorable baby survivor I faced was this one David while I was Spirit.. and I honest to god think it was his first ever match of Dead by Daylight. He would actually try hiding behind thin lightpoles and have the top of his head sticking up behind windows. I got a kick out of phasing behind him a couple times, but I couldn't bring myself to even down him.

Funnily enough a baby David springs to mind for me too but playing Nurse. He kept trying to hide behind tyres on Autohaven but he had one of those event crowns that stuck up painfully obviously above everything he tried to hide behind. Besides that, David has (in my opinion) some of the most hilariously dramatic and easy to hear pain noises besides perhaps Bill coughing and spluttering... and they appeared to have no idea that I had ears as well lmao

I just could not kill this precious specimen and let them all go.

  • As killer my least favourite maps are the 3 gen ones as I personally find it the most boring strategy. However so often the survivors just mindlessly rush gens and 3 gen themselves anyway and I end up forced to play this strategy.

I think most of us saw Hens' video highlighting how absurd the 3 gen hold strategy can be and if it continues clearly they need to address it. I hope we can find a better way forward other than totally boring gen control builds for killers as it sucks to play against for survivor and I want to be able to use fun builds as killer and gen perks are boring asf

  • Yes I do.

Like everyone I have horrible matches against 'those' kinds of survivors who make the game a misery and while still tilted I vow to take revenge on every survivor and have no mercy.... Then I get obvious babies and I just cant bring myself to be mean to them and I often end up letting them go too.

There is nothing more adorable than a baby survivor that hides in the most ridiculous place making loud noises as they are injured and they think you didn't notice them lol.

I would rather give people a positive experience to balance out the toxicity we all experience every day. I have enough hours in the game to the point where I don't really care about 'winning' beyond doing a challenge/adept and would rather good experiences over destroying opponents

  • I honestly don't get complains about totally optional and voluntary purchases. I think the cosmetics are too expensive and you don't need them so I stopped buying them (I have purchased many in the past though).

I don't understand FOMO with regards to cosmetics either, these are not necessary items at all.

I see you can buy many killers or survivors in bundles too and on sale they aren't too bad, you can of course earn the non licenced stuff just from playing and there are plenty of free cosmetics too.

They are a company that will continue to want to bring in revenue to keep investors happy. How much of your personal money you wish to put towards that is entirely on you and entirely voluntary.
