  • A lot of people I know are not playing at present due to the current meta, particularly on the killer side.

Considering taking a break myself until they deal with Eruption in particular and I probably need a break anyway. I have been grinding a lot with the Bloodhunt and holiday login bonuses but since the extra BP are ending today it feels like a good time to take a break and come back once they sort out the Eruption/COB etc problem

I think DC's would no doubt increase at first if removed, as we see currently. But eventually things will even out as the vast majority want to actually play matches and DC's or suicide on hook clearly ruins that.

Sorry but this last part alone is incredibly naive. People will better themselves over time?

    Please. 😮‍💨

Online anonymity brings out the worst in people and they will continue to do so when there are no consequences to their actions.

And you (not as a person) want to remove the DC penalty aka the ONLY consequence there is right now? Good luck, especially when lackluster bots will dampen the effective outrage, relative to what happens now upon a DC and especially in times of no penalties, but not really solve to problem. Only leave it in a half satisfactory state.

Well nothing will change at this rate, people will just yeet out on hook regardless and there will be no motivation to address the most common and obvious causes of people leaving matches (tunnelling being a big one).

Punishment doesn't work, it either takes people out of queues or they simply yeet out on first hook to avoid that punishment. Punishing the latter will just take more people out of the queues and they will simply go and play something else.

Either way, I will be interested to see how BHVR deals with the current tunnelling off hook meta in particular...

Those who quit for random reasons will always do so no matter what and its an unfortunate reality you cannot really prevent.

And they deserve to be punished and have their action followed by consequences. Either they accept EVERY flow/outcome for a match or they shouldn't even queue up. Most unfun things on either side are public knowledge after 6 years and if they can't deal with it they should just leave.

However most people want to play matches out otherwise they would just stop playing fairly fast. If killers want to tunnel off hook and play in a very unpleasant way they will find they are constantly playing against bots only as everyone will leave. This could be community self correction to the issue of playing in a very unfun way.

You call it self correcting but uhh boy, the amount of swf i expect to load into a game only to get instantly ditched by the killer for a bot with no penalties 🤣

Loading screen disconnects would get substituted with instant quits so the swf/last second switcher can get bored playing against questionably entertaining bots.

"And they deserve to be punished and have their action followed by consequences. Either they accept EVERY flow/outcome for a match or they shouldn't even queue up. Most unfun things on either side are public knowledge after 6 years and if they can't deal with it they should just leave."

Yeah the thing is you can say this all you want to but it wont change anything. In an ideal world, sure. In reality....?

"You call it self correcting but uhh boy, the amount of swf i expect to load into a game only to get instantly ditched by the killer for a bot with no penalties"

Again, you say this but in reality if they are going to leave one way or another, they will regardless. Most people actually want to play a game through and taking them out of queues just makes matchmaking times worse.

As killer, I never tunnel off hook and I never camp and you know what? I pretty much never get DC's and I don't think that is just coincidental (though people still DC very occasionally for no apparent reason).

I think DC's would no doubt increase at first if removed, as we see currently. But eventually things will even out as the vast majority want to actually play matches and DC's or suicide on hook clearly ruins that.

  • Yes, though maybe a PTB idea more than live servers but hell yes I would love to try a raw DBD experiment. I often play killer with no perks just for the hell of it... even win sometimes on perkless Trapper which is a ######### to me haha

  • My idea is remove DC penalties and replace DC'd players with bots.

Those who quit for random reasons will always do so no matter what and its an unfortunate reality you cannot really prevent.

However most people want to play matches out otherwise they would just stop playing fairly fast. If killers want to tunnel off hook and play in a very unpleasant way they will find they are constantly playing against bots only as everyone will leave. This could be community self correction to the issue of playing in a very unfun way.

  • I think an immediate fix would be to nerf Dead Hard and Eruption into the ground right off.

Next is more controversial but hear me out... remove DC penalties entirely and replace survivors who have left with a bot. If someone wants to play like a scumbag then people will just leave and they will be left to play against bots.

This is a way the community can self correct without BHVR continually trying things that clearly are not working. People will learn that if you are going to hard camp and tunnel off hook people will just go next and you will never have a normal non-bot match if you can't play 'nice'.

The people who leave for any reason will always do so, if they don't DC they will just yeet out on first hook. But during this penalty off period I have played with survivors in solo who stuck out the most horrible matches right to the end despite the fact they could just DC.

  • What amazes me though, is that knowing the penalty is off I have had a Nurse with full slowdown who was slugging at 4 gens.... like, what do they think is going to happen lol?

Considering penalties are off it otherwise hasn't been too bad for me, much to my surprise

  • This is why I have long advocated for a 'concede' option to be added so the slugged survivor can choose to be sacrificed so the killer and the last survivor can fight it out over hatch RNG.

Or the other option is the basekit Unbreakable idea could activate in this specific scenario only (to hopefully prevent it happening) so if the survivor is left slugged for say 30 seconds they can then get themselves up.

I would say just remove the hatch mechanic and the entire issue would be gone but I cant see this ever happening

Dead By Daylight in late 2022 is a totally different game now

Only sweats are playing the game now. There's no business playing unless you're training to play comp. Casual players have lost interest as they were tired of playing against those same exact sweats who are still playing now, this is very easily seen by looking at player charts.

    https://i.ibb.co/zN8QYGj/Untitled.png

We've lost -40% of the playerbase compared to June. People are still interested in this game, they try to go back to it during events, but they stop after a few weeks, because it just feels so horrible now unless you already have invested 2000+ hours in it.

This game is way too hard and obnoxious for casual players. People come here expecting a survival horror game watching exciting video with hiding elements and intense chases with the killer, instead, they get matched against players with 6000 hours who down them in 5 sec then camp them on hook. Then in post-game screen they realize their opponent has perks that are 10x better than theirs and also that they have no chance to ever access these perks, unless they grind the game for 100+ hours

I've been trying to get my friends to play this game and I felt literally embarrassed by how bad it was. In one particular game we faced a facecamping + tunneling spirit with only pink addons who slugged my friend 8 TIMES IN A ROW while she was trying like never to find me and get her 4k, look at the killer's profile:

    https://i.ibb.co/1TTqQgx/image.png

That's 71 pages of only -rep. Please explain me BHVR, who wants to play against someone who has a profile like that. They're not even deleting the -rep, they are PROUD of it, and they played the game for 110 hours in past 2 weeks so that's 8 hours/day just with the intent of ruining other people's games. We got matched against many killers like this one and some of them were streaming.

So to conclude, the game has not changed much, but the playerbase has. If you played it in mid 2022 then you were playing against people like you who want to play DBD like it is a GAME, but now you are playing against people who do it like it is a JOB.

Yeah I do think they could do more to deal with the killers in particular who go into matches with the express purpose of farming salt so they play in a manner I can only describe as griefing to get a reaction.

Trouble is, I see so many people making frivolous claims (literally just got accused of cheating by a killer lol) and crippling the report system with spurious nonsense, I don't know how they could police that.

I do think Eruption and DH both need to be nerfed into the ground as first priority when BHVR are back from holidays as both are very unfair and create a lot of frustration. Then deal with the huge increase in hard tunnelling players out of the game as this is really killing the solo survivor experience which is already rough at times

  • Maybe adapt how you approach each match by the tone the survivors set during the match.

I never tunnel or camp as a strict rule and I always try to ensure the match is fun for all of us - with an exception. If you BM me, spam vault and generally try to be a toxic child then I will return the sentiment and make sure you have as miserable of an experience as you want me to have.

That being said I do think some people mistake good plays like flashlight saves, head ons, blinds or the various 'techs' as being toxic when they are all just part of the game too and getting angry over those is a bit silly

  • @PrettyFaceKate said:

Realistically, and considering how DbD players can find a way to subvert everything, with that suggestions, slugs for the 4k would still happen. The killer would try to locate both survivors and slug repeateadly until they either get the final mori, or one eventually bleeds out. So, if everything, those situations would get dragged out even more.

Imho, the better solution, when it's down to two survivors, would be to give the option to the slugged one to bleed out at double rate. But I'm sure someone would find out a way to subvert that as well.

This is why I have been pushing for the option to 'concede' if you are the slugged survivor. So then your character gets auto sacrificed and you can leave the killer and last survivor to fight out hatch RNG and you can move onto a new match

  • @Entitled_survivor said:

Dont forget to use map offerings as well,, some of the auto haven maps, yamaoka perhaps could be really helpful

Thanks, I got it in the end as I got lucky and got less sweaty survivors so thankfully it wasn't too bad. But against good survivors this killer/adept is a nightmare

Trickster really needs some QoL changes, because overall I think he is fine.

The biggest downsides are the BS recoil (why he recoils upwards like an SMG is beyond me), his incredibly annoying low movement speed during his power (seriously he should speed up not slow down, to match the excitement in his voice lines (heck his low mobility makes him near impossible on larger maps)) and his power needs to be available to activate whenever the player wants and not when it's dependant on knives. If they were worried about players camping with it, then just make it like Artists's crows in that it can't be activated while near the hook.

He's only annoying if you don't know how to deal with him.

I disagree about him being annoying, it isn't that I don't know how to deal with him, it is that his power of spamming knives is extremely irritating to play against. It would appear others share this sentiment quite frequently as one of my biggest issues was the DCing against him.

Either way, thank god that is done and I don't have to play him again

  • @Tostapane said:

regarding addons the best ones are Fizz-Spin Soda paired with Ji-Woon's Autograph or Caged Heart Shoes (or if you want try something more peculiar Edge of Revival Album paired with Cut Thru U Single)

Thank you for this, thankfully I finally got it now so I don't have to play him again

  • @BrightWolf said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3306395#Comment_3306395

This is why I don't play Trickster as much anymore, either people run me in circles when I'm not trying to sweat or I down them easily so they throw a tantrum and leave. So I'm left just holding my knives and making sad noises while I debate if it's worth DC-ing myself or just memeing with the remaining survivors.

Well thankfully I finally got the adept achievement just now so that concludes my Trickster achievements thankfully so I don't have to play him again.

I think he needs a complete redesign as his power is incredibly annoying and I cant blame people for not wanting to play against it

This would be fine too as long as for all intents and purposes for both bp and pip score it counts as me hooking them then I have no issue with them leaving and the game spawning hatch, slugging for the 4k is an essential part of the killer adept alot of the time.

Yeah I understand the hatch mechanic is the underlying issue here too, but since that is unlikely to be leaving I think its time to make changes so players aren't stuck immobile in a match for 4 minutes.

  • @Steakdabait said:

Idk i just them to do something but killers wasting 4 minutes of my time because they want to get 1 more skull in the endgame screen

Yeah I agree, I don't really care what they do I am just don't want to have to waste my time being slugged for 4 minutes and would rather give them the sacrifice points and I will move on to a match I can actually play (rather than being stuck on the ground).

  • @kingcarl2012 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3306441#Comment_3306441

The slugged survivor in a slugging for the 4k situation should be allowed to concede and move on, however when they do both remaining parties would be notified and the slug remains in the game as a husk and the game proceeds to its natural conclusion with bleedout timer finishing out normally leaving the killer still able to complete the 4k if they get the other survivor.

    Sure why not?

At least it doesn't leave a real person stuck in a game that is over but they cannot leave from

I gave up on getting this adept long long ago. I cannot get downs fast enough with his power, no matter the map or even the skill of the survs.

His inconsistent and unpredictable recoil when throwing is just a nightmare with a controller on console.

Yeah I don't feel his lethality is insane at all, his power is underwhelming at best and worse he is very limited in mobility and has no map pressure. Now I don't mind that in general as I really dislike going against Trickster as survivor so I would rather he not be super viable to keep his pick rate low. But it does make actually trying to get his adept REALLY difficult

  • @squbax said:

If people manage to somehow die to non condemned sadako and trapper, then by mere chance you should be able to get matched with survivors so bad you can do a 12 hook game as trickster, now the issue is not make them DC early because then you will get no adept.

So try to act dumb or play baddly at the start, because about half the survivors will DC in the first chase if the killer is not completely bad at the game, do try to act dumb to then win.

Honestly easier said than done with Trickster...

  • @Frys_Dog said:

It's really easy, you only have to get 4 iridescent emblems with only his teachables, i hope i've helped you :D

    :P

    @TeabaggingGhostface said:

Adepts should be reworked into getting a 3/4k

Yes but not be limited to 3 teachables as with some killers that is a pretty much guaranteed loss. I am sure I could pull it off with Trickster if I had some way to slow gens a bit. But with his teachables... yeah, absolute nightmare

  • @Seraphor said:

More or less what I'd prefer too.

Instead of all survivors having the ability to pick themselves up at any time (with all the issues that comes with), it should only activate when all survivors are down.

When there are no survivors left 'standing' any survivor has the ability to pick themselves up from the dying state. So whoever has the most recovery progress will likely get up. At which point one survivor will be 'standing' and it'll be inactive again.

This prevents 'slugging for the 4K' whether it's at 4 survivors or the final 2, but doesn't prevent regular slugging as a way to apply pressure throughout the course of a normal game.

    Yeah exactly.

I totally understand slugging as a way to create pressure but this slugging for the 4k thing is crazy and has to stop. Let the killer and the last survivor fight out RNG rather than having some poor sod bleeding out on the ground unable to do anything

  • @SweetTerror said:

Getting killer adept challenges is ridiculously difficult. Since everything relies on the emblem system, you can either be rewarded or punished for using a certain killer's power. For example, using bubba's chainsaw is obviously a one-hit kill, but if you use his chainsaw you'll get a horrible chaser emblem, which will prevent you from being able to get the adept challenge.

Not to mention if a player disconnects, there goes the required hook states that are required to get an iridescent emblem for objectives.

Simply put, the adept challenges need to be reworked to just require a 3/4 K game, because right now it's too much of a headache.

    Yeah I agree

I am no fan of this guy but I think he is right on here regardless of what I think of the person

That's the pain of adepts. Tome challenges too. I'm always thinking "please don't DC, please don't DC" It's sad you have to think like that. When I was going to the Knight's adept first 3 games I tired someone DC on their first down. I have a DC means no kills rule too so I make it harder for myself.

Yeah me too, adepts aside the dc's make it hard too. Trickster is a very annoying killer to go against and its hard to not be annoying and also play well enough without them saying nope and leaving

  • @kingcarl2012 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/359586/how-on-earth-is-it-possible-to-get-trickster-adept

Wait until rank reset ( lower requirement), dont do it when incentive is 100% on either side (better chance of accurate matchmaking survivors), and try to play at a time when population is high (NA central for me early evening from 7pm to 10 pm tends to have more lower mmr survivors playing) I pretty much just went pure M1 with him and it took 3 matches

Yeah I usually do but I always switch roles depending on where the incentive is. But I think I will have to wait this one out for rank reset for sure!

I understand your pain, I have played to get all the Adepts aswell.

Playing with the Adept goal is not the way tho friend, You need to relax and just play a Killer and enjoy them, once you get better at it. Merciless victories come by themselves.

Being a lil Knife Goblin is fun.

Yeah you are so right there and the silly thing is I know this having gone through several painful adepts already.

As with so much in life, it usually all falls together when you let go and just go with it rather than trying to force it. Cheers!

  • I thought I would not be a quitter and maybe give it another try or two... this was what happened lol

    image.png

First survivor went down really fast and second survivor hid in a bush very close to hook I put survivor on... of course being adept I had Starstruck on so survivor in bush went down instantly... both DC.

    Sigh... I give up

  • @Emeal said:

Trickster is very hard to play effectively, it takes time and dedication or foolish Survivors.

I recommend you use Killing Part Chords and Caged Heart Shoes for speed while you in the initial throw state.

Trickster has a speed curve to ride on when he throws, when you raise your arms to throw knives you start at 3.86 m/s, as you throw knives your speed curves down to 3.66 m/s after 30knives. if you glide in and out of throw mode, you dont lose as much speed vs. you keeping in throw mode for long time as your movement speed is faster than the throw state. (I think that's how it works.)

Maybe Trickster gets tired in his arms after throwing, lazy popstar attitude.

Keep in mind your limitations too.

I used to hate playing Trickster, little annoying twerp, but he grew on me and now hes my comfort pick.

Huehuehue herre comes the Knife twerp.

Thanks for reply... I think I will just give up at this point as I am not having fun at all and no achievement is worth this frustration

They really need to make it like Scott Jund said, a 4k for killer adepts and escape for survivor. The current requirement is a relic of a DBD that does not exist anymore and you cant have piss weak killers like this without something to slow gens.

Reality is I don't want to master him, I just want the achievement and preferably to level him to P3 so I can fully unlock his perks then never touch him again.

  • Weirdly yes, as do so many things of course so I wont give it away other than that :P

You could have just stopped at "Blight". He's an anti-fun killer regardless of build.

Yeah I am inclined to agree with you there, I think he is too strong for the average public lobby if the player is half decent with him. That is before I even mention certain addons that make him even less fun...

  • @WesCravenFan said:

I don't believe people when they say all they get is hard tunneled and camped. I just don't believe them. For starters, it's mathematically impossible for it to happen to EVERYONE. If even one person gets this treatment, that means 3 other people didn't.

Second of all, people exaggerate. A killer hooking you, then leaving to kick the gen the next tile over, then come back when someone unhooks you isn't camping. Likewise a killer that downs you twice in a row because you ran somewhere less smart than your unhooker and nobody tried to help you isn't hard tunnelling. Hard tunneling is where you literally ignoring EVERYHING else, from bodyblocks to gens about to pop, even throwing the game, to make sure one person dies at all costs. THAT is hard tunnelling.

It doesn't happen every time to me but it happens often enough to make playing the game pretty miserable. It is just the icing on the cake when you have other miserable tactics every other match, such as the game I just played where it was a Blight who ran... you guessed it; Eruption, Overcharge and COB and just camped 3 gens...

BHVR have some serious changes to make asap when they are back from the holidays as the current meta and the frequency of very unfun games is not sustainable as people will just leave the game

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/359568/i-am-still-a-fan-of-the-idea-of-basekit-unbreakable-but-with-a-caveat

It seems part of the reasoning for the base UB is to deal with three and even all four survs slugged, ignoring why the survs got into such a fix. Your suggestion doesn't address those situations as well, so that's why I do not think they'll make your changes happen. Just my opinion though.

Which is why I have requested a 'concede' option many times... so that you can choose to just move on when clearly the match is over. It would also remove the ability for toxic killers to bleed an entire team out as you can all just concede and move on.

It blows my mind that they still allow a mechanic that forces players to be stuck unable to do anything for 4 minutes with no way to move on to a match you can actually play. Suggesting people run Unbreakable constantly isn't really a solution, nor is the laughable 'advice' I have had that I should run No Mither lol

  • I think its just that those who run really unfair broken (Eruption based) builds probably have little concern for the misery they inflict on others so they wont hesitate to play in a scummy way.

I think the fact they get to use their broken perk more easily if they do tunnel is just a cherry on top for these people and as I keep saying, the base mechanics of the game need to punish this or the player base is going to keep dropping as its becoming very unfun to deal with on a constant basis

  • I feel you, yesterday was particularly horrible for me and while today has been better, it hasn't been that much better.

I usually get to Iri 1 for survivor (and killer) by now but for survivor I have been stuck at Iri 3 all week and I have to admit with the current tunnelling epidemic I am really struggling and its frustrating as I get penalised for running the killer for a long time but not being able to do gens or get saves as the second I get unhooked they are back on my ass

It may be time to take another long break for me personally as at this stage I am not having fun most matches

  • Tunnelling off hook in particular needs to be heavily punished by the base game mechanics without the need for perks.

Dubious botting viewer streamers or not, tunnelling in particular is killing the game slowly but surely. When you allow one side (killers) to deny the other side to play the game, get points or pip up and they are more or less defenceless to stop it, people will just stop playing the game altogether and the game is currently allowing that.

I don't even think it is camping so much (though with Bubba it is incredibly boring and unfun) as forcing a hook trade is something I can tolerate. But if they don't deal with the sheer amount of hard tunnelling off hook at even 5 gens, player numbers will continue to decline

Why nerf eruption? can you explain why the only Useful perk of the game should be nerfed?

If you don't understand why this perk is completely broken, there probably is no possible way to explain anything to you with all due respect

  • @SmolBlob said:

I'd rather they rework hatch so the only smart strategic decision on the killer's part isn't to slug the third for up to 4 minutes. It also incentivizes survivors to hide and do nothing until the others die, which is against the rules too.

I totally support that idea too as the hatch is the main reason killers slug for the 4k which is just a boring waste of time for all involved

  • I don't run full regression builds at all, I find it utterly boring to go against and boring to only run gen perks.

That being said, I usually lose 2x gens pretty fast and maybe even a third by the time someone is finally on a hook. But once someone is on a hook then someone has to come and get them off that hook, so by that alone I have halved gen progression. Now if I find the survivor coming for the unhook or one on a gen then they are down to literally one survivor on gens. This is where slugging can be powerful too but I hate to do that as it isn't fun either.

I understand why killers run regression builds but the problems come when say as I just versed before, you get a Nurse running full slowdown builds including Eruption. As solo survivors this is pretty much a losing game from the start and this should never be the case in any match.

I wonder if the first gens should take longer and progressively reduce in time required as each one gets done? Perhaps make gen perks like exhaustion perks where it makes no sense to stack them for the most part? Maybe make it so killers like Nurse or Blight literally cannot use more than one slowdown but allow weaker killers to use 2?

I dunno, just some thoughts but something needs to change I know that much.

    Oh and nerf Eruption now

Today I could reveal him quite easily. Yesterday was a mess. Just seems inconsistent af sometimes

Yeah I totally feel your pain on this one, its the main reason I kinda cant stand GF.

It also frustrates me that he can stalk me at range (not sure of exact distance) and I can clearly see him and he can stalk me all he wants but I cant break him out. On the flipside is that when I have played him (I rarely do) his power is quite janky to use too as far as being revealed sometimes and others not.

  • I refuse to run Eruption myself as I hate the perk and feel it is broken and unfair... but I do understand it too as with the weaker killers gens go so fast it can be quite hard to get on top of it.

I prefer to use chases/pressure than boring slowdown but a few missed downs due to DH or unfortunate RNG can mean its a genuine struggle with M1 killers.

So I guess the real question is how to solve this as stacking gen slowdowns is boring and limits potential fun builds you can run

People don't really care about others. They just want to win. Sad but true

Agreed and the sad thing is that if you actually enjoy the game and want it to continue to be successful then not caring about the misery you inflict on others will ultimately hurt you too. People wont keep subjecting themselves to an experience that leaves them with a bad feeling and will simply stop playing DBD and that is not something I want to promote or contribute to causing.

It always amazes me when killers will tunnel and camp at 5 gens (for example) and they can't get a normal match as people just DC or kill themselves as soon as they get hooked. Like, do you expect people to just be your plaything and stick around for your benefit while you have zero consideration for their fun?

I always feel bad for killers when they DC too as its usually because of sheer frustration and/or they feel utterly helpless. I don't mock them and make nasty comments as others do, it's usually a sad thing for me personally and I just feel bad

Why was ur post edited? I got a notification you mentioned me but I don't see it

I have absolutely no idea as I try to word things carefully as I know they can get offended by random things you would not expect

  • Lets be real here, DH is less unfair than it was before as at least it takes a little bit more skill/timing and it cant be used for distance now to correct misplays.

But DH is still fundamentally unfair as it is essentially another health state can can be recharged repeatedly during a single match. Sure you can wait it out sometimes but we all know there are situations where as killer you are damned if you do and damned if you don't and inevitably you are going to have to hope they misplay so you don't eat the DH (usually you will).

I have no issue with Exhaustion perks as such but DH needs to go.

  • I only do it for the BP though it is becoming increasingly more difficult as a solo survivor due to the sheer amount of tunnelling off hook and the inevitable DC's and giving up that usually result

  • It should be reportable as griefing imo

They need to make different game modes that offer different objectives to achieve victory, this game is just getting boring these days, you can't play any top tier killer without catching heat for it even if it's just for the fun of playing them and as a survivor you get trash talked for having fun and not gen rushing but then when you do rush gens you get complained at for ending the game too quick it's just annoying anymore and it's turning into "My Feelings" simulator where we get judged like politicians in a video game for trying to have fun

Yes a new game mode could be a good thing that is for sure

Kill them, Johnny. Kill them all. Make them pay for what they did to you. Give in to the voices, they know the right way.

Haha them tea baggin' Nea's created many a monster, no doubt about that 😁

end up with pet survivors I now feel I cant kill

Feelings are for survivors. Pull yourself together. No mercy, ever.

    Lol

Honestly at over 3k hours in game (beginners hours compared to many) I no longer care about killing everyone or escaping, I am into chases and good fun experiences over sweating.

If I send the wrong message that is on me and I wont accidentally give trust then betray that, it isn't how I personally operate.

Usually my approach to this is to chase each survivor in turn as normal and get a hook. After that I'll chase and down, but let them wiggle off. If you get a hook on each they'll still be cautious enough to generally not try to farm right away.

If I get one that's better than me, I'll let them wiggle off right away if i down them and keep chasing them while the others finish gens. Those are usually the best because once I decide that I don't care about the results of the game, I can really focus my attention on what they are doing and what I'm doing right or wrong to counter it.

That is actually a good way to go about it, sends a pretty good message of your intentions

To be clear, it isn't about farming for either survivor or killer that I am interested in, its the chases and making sure we all get decent BP for our time rather than 'winning'

Even if there was, many survivors aren't going to trust the killer is be truthful. I've encountered fake farming killers in the past.

If you only want to chase survivors and not kill them, you can do so. But don't be surprised survivors just do gens and leave because that's what survivors are suppose to do.

I do understand that and I have been burned by 'farming' killers too so I have mistrust.

It is just a shame that customs earn you zero BP or progress of any kind, otherwise I would do those a lot more to have likeminded respectful players who are there for the interaction rather than pressing M1 or sweating with slugs etc at 5 gens.

Edit: Thinking about this you are actually right as I neglected to consider the lowest common denominator that ruins everything - the scumbag. So we would just get people pretending they are honourable when they are anything but and it would not work...

Shame, I guess we just continue on with the sweat fest
