I pretty much only play solo and my experience against Plague is that 90% of my solo team mates cleanse and half of those are so stupid they use a pool right in the middle of critical gens etc.
I do not enjoy going against Plague mostly for this reason - randoms are often clueless and constantly make her a ranged insta-down killer
-
Probably not the most but the most recent was actually with Pyramid Head too and I went against a full toxic SWF all with flashlights. Thankfully I predicted a 6 second swap and brought Lightborn when I usually would not bother.
Long story short, while admittedly a couple of them were quite good players, they were also extremely cocky and too arrogant for their own good and kept taking stupid risks to get them juicy flashlight saves they were never going to get.
I got a 3k and boy were they SO MAD post game haha... it was just such glorious karma against toxic cocky players
-
No.
-
I rarely run Exhaustion perks so I run Iron Will a lot and even the nerfed version can give great value. Killers just don't expect it these days so you can get away with quite a lot.
I have to say though, I do miss old Iron Will
-
Depends on the killer and the other perks you use if it is worth it.
I used to think it wasn't worth it at all but there is something to be said for having pretty much instant guaranteed pressure on survivors. I used to not think it had that much value as I can usually predict where they spawned based on my spawn but getting it wrong can cost you valuable time
-
Pretty much never other than when I am learning a killer and I do absolutely horribly.
The only one I really remember well is when I was first learning Nurse and couldn't hit a survivor standing still. However I would not take the pity kill and I would never do so, I know it is meant well but it is actually more humiliating than anything as its like you are so pathetic even your opponents pity you lol
-
Bad Nurses already stack slowdowns so I don't think much will change
We will see a LOT of Nurses for the first while after the changes go live so just be prepared for that as I this will make a lot of people miserable lol. But fear not, most Nurses are mediocre to awful so if you know how to deal with Nurse you should be fairly okay

That's like killers being able to insta down after a pallet is thrown. Or be able to instadown even tho you has no hooks or hurt anyone. They go hand in hand. Killers have perks just as well as survivors. Can't say something about one and not the other. Not to mention how many aura reading perks the killers have to be able to see where all the survivors are. Distortion for the win 😁

No I'm saying that killers have umpteen perks that could make dh usless. Besides what's the big deal? Got nerfed into the ground just like iron will. I get iron will just geesus. All the nerfed to the survivor perks has made the game insufferable. Lowest of low escape rate I mean come on.
As already said, false equivalence and your statement that there are perks to deal with DH is just plain wrong.
My main role is survivor btw but I also play killer and I don't run Eruption because its broken and for the same reason I don't run Dead Hard as survivor.
Nothing takes away from the fact that DH gives a free 3rd health state and can do so multiple times in a match and that is just as unfair as Eruption making multiple survivors useless for multiple times in one match, also with no counter play if they are solo players.

You need to teach me how. Because i don't have cheats to make it work all the time.
I barely see it working all the time, more like 50% of the time, especially with the lag.
Honestly i feel like i am being generous towards DH saying it works 50% of the time. And this is from my games and content creators. So i don't see how the perk is that consistent for you people
Latency is very hard to account for but this is not relevant either way - perks are not designed with the intention of it working a certain number of times based on latency or other variables that cannot be accounted for.
The problem is the design; when it works AS INTENDED it gives the user a 3rd health state and denies a killer a down they rightfully should have. Now a Nurse or strong killer can come back from a missed hit due to DH pretty well but a Trapper or other low tier killer cannot afford to be robbed of downs.
Ultimately DH will be nerfed/reworked as it is still a problem
-
It is not fine, it gives a free health state with no real counter play if you know how to use it and it isn't like it takes a genius gaming expert to pull it off.
This perk is the survivors Eruption - completely broken and should be totally reworked/nerfed so it is completely different. It is crazy a perk that gives a 3rd health state multiple times in a single match still exists.
-
If you only got matched with other noobs you would be waiting forever for games.
DBD has been around for over half a decade now so players with many thousands of hours are more common than not at this point. There is no easy way into the game and you just have to learn the hard way at this point, though if you want to try out a killer you now have bots in custom matches which is really useful.
-
Plaything... if you have functional eyes it is easy enough to deal with but I find it just irritating even if it is not that hard to be rid of
-
Sunken cost fallacy 😜
But in all seriousness... DBD was the first game I discovered by myself where I went in without friends recommendation and discovered everything myself and eventually made more friends from this game than any other game I have ever played.
There is nothing quite like DBD and every asymmetrical imitator I have tried just isn't as good. So while I take long breaks from DBD (for my sanity) I always seem to come back
-
Well I will say one of the main reasons I don't use Bond is that it frequently showed me that random solo team mates were doing a whole lot of nothing and it was just too infuriating to run it

In other words: "Killer playing to win without using any third party software aka cheating ruins the game for other people."
"I too can make up an imaginary/hypothetical scenario"
Yes, you can and you have, for years upon years on end, its called "tunneling and camping", let me translate those for you, its called "playing the game", if you dont like it, go play single player games, multiplayer games aint for you.
Aight ima play to win 10x from now on, so the players that actually want to play single player games but dont know it yet will wisen up to that FACT, since you're speaking of facts.
Good luck with Elden Ring, i've heard its a hard game.
The problem here is that you are completely glossing over the FACT that you ruin games for others when you tunnel. You don't have to tunnel, you just choose to as its easier than playing well for pressure.
You do understand I play killer right?
You can make any excuse you want for playing in an unpleasant way that ruins the game for others but don't be surprised or complain when the devs inevitably add more changes so you can't get away with it.
-
Yes it is completely broken.
It hurts solo survivors the most (the weakest role in the game) and having a mechanic in a game that results in players being unable to do anything is just plain stupid and very anti fun.
Not only that but having multiple survivors unable to do anything several times a match (as happens often) means combined you can often lose several minutes per match and in a game like DBD a minute is an eternity.
Gens do be going too fast and I am all for options to help with that for lower tier/lower mobility killers in particular. But Eruption is not the way to go
-
Anyone who plays enough killer with a decent amount of experience knows the LAST survivor you chase is the one who wants you to chase them as they will almost certainly waste too much of your time and you will almost always catch them in a bad position later on if you are patient.
I too can make up an imaginary/hypothetical scenario as an example and then roll with that but we don't really get anywhere doing this.
The fact is, tunnelling ruins the game for others and no amount of copium from bad players trying to excuse their bad plays will change that.

I also play killer sometimes and I dont tunnel or camp and manage to get 3k or 4k, it is not really hard playing killer unless it is SWF.
One exception to the rule I was faced with today and I had forgotten it, is when a survivor gets unhooked in front of me and I try all I can to go for the person who unhooked them but they insist on getting in my way to body block with a BT hit... then I will go for that person again as clearly they want to be hit and I gave them every chance to make their escape but they instead tried to block me from going after someone else
-
I have suddenly started getting this issue happen a lot playing killer. Have had it occasionally for years but it is getting more frequent lately for some reason

You dont market, but you DEFINITELY balance.
Source: Every single competitive game ever.
You can never truly balance an asymmetrical game by its inherent nature, you can only mitigate the imbalances and in this case they mostly do it with perks (which is not ideal).
-
Sorry but Nurse has been broken for a very long time and these nerfs are not going to have a huge effect on people who are actually good with her rather than rely on crutch builds.
At the very least Blight needs addon nerfs too as it isn't a case of these killers and their broken builds being the only ones having a chance, it is that they are completely broken and destroy all but the most skilled SWF's.... which most players are not.
-
Game was survivor sided but is now quite killer sided with Eruption in particular carrying a lot of killers. But a skilled SWF team will roll over most killers playing in public lobbies, with solo survivor being the weakest.
Killer was a pretty miserable experience a year or so back and queues for survivor were painfully long as very few people wanted to suffer playing killer. The conduct of some survivors doesn't do the community any favours either, as behaving like toxic children who watch too many try-hard 'toxic' survivor compilations creates bitter killers with a grudge.
Killer is still by far the most stressful role in my opinion, as you get no down time since every second counts and you're on your own as far as getting a good result or failing. So I do understand why some go into matches starting at 110% aggression and never stop.
I do think a lot more people playing killer could learn to chill a bit when they realise the survivors they are going against are not very experienced. It would create a lot healthier environment that is for sure

Then why is no one playing it casually? Like really, most people play like their life depends on it. I don´t know about your definition of casual, but thats not my definition of casual.
Source?
Let's just clarify here, I believe this is anecdotal on both sides of the argument as neither can definitively prove either side.
However I suspect most people who play DBD don't spend much time on the forums talking about DBD as they simply don't care that much beyond maybe coming in for a rant about something every so often.

No other game balances that away, including games that have sold far better than DBD. You have no evidence other than repeating the echo chamber on this forum.
Dude, I would personally like it to be balanced around higher level play but I know this should not and will not happen if the game is to survive. It has to be accessible to the majority and BHVR know this and it has nothing to do with any echo chamber
-
@woundcowboy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3310590#Comment_3310590
This is wrong. Casuals make up the majority in every game. Those games still balance around the highest level of play. It’s only here on the DBD forum that performing mental gymnastics to say that casuals should be the point of balance is accepted. Aside from that, you seem to be saying that because comp SWF is a small percentage of games, that it is acceptable for the killer to get destroyed by those teams. This is also wrong. The killer should never feel like a match is impossible to win. If they do, the game isn’t worth playing.
No, I did not say anything of the sort - so what I seem to be saying to you is not what I am saying.
I don't think any Nurse main with some skill feels like a match is impossible to win, if they do they are not very good with Nurse. I have been on the PTB too and Nurse is still fine
DBD may be a PVP game but it is not inherently a true 'competitive' game and can never be by the very nature of asymmetrical games.
It has nothing to do with mental gymnastics, it is just a fact that the majority of the DBD player base are unskilled survivors and if you balance for the top minority the unskilled causal majority will not play as the game will be completely inaccessible to them.
You are mistaking this as me saying this as my personal preference; the fact is BHVR have to balance the game this way or the game will die. You don't market and balance for the top 0.1% - this is just plain bad business and BHVR will never do this. Not accepting this fact will set you up for a lot of disappointment

Kind of disagree, if you check some of the strongest Nurse players like SupaAlf, you'll find most of them run Starstruck + Range + Recharge, all of which are nerfed.
Nurse isn't really fond of kicking gens due to her slow movespeed, but maybe you're right. I hope we'll get an Eruption change soon.
Yeah but SupaAlf was doing that specifically for a win streak and even he acknowledged it was a broken combo carrying him. Not that Alf isn't a top tier Nurse player as clearly he is but he piled on the OP BS to ensure his winstreak wasn't at risk.
I have already seen Nurses running double recharge/range builds with Eruption lol... sure good Nurses don't kick gens or break pallets for that matter and likely still wont

balancing the game for the top 0.01% of players is the fastest way to kill it.
Why though? Every single competitive pvp game is balanced around to top ranks. Not the bronze players.
So why would that kill the game?
DBD is a casual party game and an asymmetrical one at that. It can never be truly balance by its inherent nature and DBD does not have a largely competitive player base as you would have in say COD or PUBG or whatever.
Its a casual game with a mostly casual low skill player base and the majority of that player base are unskilled survivors.
-
You are talking about tournaments, not the average solo queue or even SWF casual that makes up the majority of the player base @StarLost and balancing the game for the top 0.01% of players is the fastest way to kill it.
If you are actually trying excuse Eruption as it is, with all due respect I feel justified to dismiss your opinion outright as Eruption is objectively completely and utterly broken. Apologies in advance if that is not what you are implying here
-
I guarantee it wont be the last nerf as this wont change much for the actual good players who don't rely on broken addons and OP perk builds over raw skill.
However I do agree with others that we will likely see the crutch players switch to full slowdown builds instead so that inevitable Eruption nerf is going to be more urgent than ever
-
Honestly, the less I see Twins the better lol... So personally not complaining if they delay giving any reason to motivate people to play them more.
-
YouTube seems hell bent on censoring, age restricting and blocking themselves out of all relevance.
I would not want to be relying on YouTube for income unless you make the most brain dead Tiktok like content as ad revenue is limited due to reduced spending by companies so the share of that revenue is only going to get less and less.
Hopefully this pushes more and more people away from YT to sites like Rumble etc
-
Yeah I agree, it is total BS that a killer camps and tunnels you out of the game and you depip as a result. It's one of the many reasons I absolutely despise players who tunnel one survivor out of the game; you not only deny them the ability to play the match at all but you also cause them to depip and to so with a completely selfish lack of empathy for the misery you are inflicting on others.
This should definitely not punish the survivor who has no way to retaliate against someone who decides to tunnel them out of the game
-
I saw one of the devs said they just don't have the time with this update as a lot of the new changes will take a lot of work.
Though I would say nerfing Eruption is a super urgent issue but I guess we will just have to wait and endure bad killers being carried by a broken perk for a bit longer

Lets wait out the Midchapter.
Before the Nurse-Nerfs, its
1. Nurse
2. Blight
3. Spirit
4. Artist
5. Wesker
I agree with this with the caveat that the Nurse 'nerfs' aren't going to unseat her place at the top at all.
But either way I would include Artist in the list as you have here too. I think people are sleeping on Artist (I am kinda glad too lol) as she is far stronger than she gets credit for.
I have played against comp level killers who are really good with Artist and her ability to pressure the map is incredibly underrated and her anti loop ability is very powerful in the right hands
-
@GlamourousLeviathan said:
Absolutely not. Sprint Burst, Lithe and Overcome are all incredibly good perks. Head On, Balanced Landing and Smash Hit are also decent depending on what you wanna do. It is just that Dead Hard is so broken that it basically overshadows the others.
Agree with this.
As killer I have no issue with any of the other exhaustion perks even though they can be annoying to deal with as well.
But DH is still very broken and incredibly unfair to lower tier killers who need every down they can get and it needs a massive rework to completely change it from giving a free health state multiple times in a single match.
-
Blights addons definitely need a nerf but I will go further and say Nurse also needs further nerfs and Blight needs nerfs too and not just his addons.
But for now just like Nurse, starting with Blights more broken addons would be the way to go then see how he performs after that. But like Nurse, nerfs to addons will only really affect those using them as crutches and the people who are good with Nurse/Blight wont be affected much.
Again Hens has great timing with this vid:

I personally think nurse shouldn't be nerfed this much,,making her blink strikes count as special attacks was just fine but eruption is just pure misery when playing solo
Honestly dude, as a Nurse main I will bet my bottom dollar that this is not going to change much at all if you are already good with her and don't rely on abusing broken perk/addon combos. She could actually be nerfed more but they need to balance it out so she isn't completely inaccessible to new players but cant be exploited by experienced ones at the same time
-
For killer basekit Corrupt and for survivor basekit Kindred
-
I think it looks like this will be a great improvement and I can't wait to try it out.
The map was simply too big for a killer like say Trapper to truly control unless you played around main but even then...
-
This is a bit of a change and at least they dealt with her making use of perks like Starstruck as that was clearly plain BS.
But as a Nurse main I will say now to believe me that this is barely a nerf and it will not change much at all for those who are actually good with her and don't rely on broken addons now.
This isn't the nerf some people seem to think it is, it is a good start but honestly she could be nerfed further and eventually she will be.

Nurse got gutted and remained the strongest Killer in the game.
I'm a ######### Killer main, she needed nerfs.
Agreed, I am a Nurse main and I understand she is broken.
But survivors thinking this is going to gut her are in for a bitter disappointment as this is not going to change much at all if you are good at her and don't run broken ######### on her as it is
-
Still really disappointed to see Eruption did not get dealt with as its a bit part of the problem of the current awful meta
Edit: to add balance, there is a lot of really great stuff in here too including the rather minor Nurse nerf and changes to adepts for example, let alone the obvious buff to solo survivor

Not at all the case, I wanted Nurse to be nerfed so I can play her again as I got good enough that it felt unfair and I stopped playing her.
I am not sure these changes will nerf her that much though as I can send myself to Lery's with a Matchbox (1 blink) and I have not lost a match as far back as I can remember with just 1 blink.
But the changes making Starstruck non-viable are a good start as that was just broken BS
-
I just want to see Eruption and Dead Hard nerfed into the ground and tunnelling to be made shameful again.
I want DBD to be in good health as it is by far the game I have
investedwasted the most hours in. -
@sanees said:
I gave the first hook in 40 seconds and got -3 generators, please tell me what I did wrong and how I need to do 11 more hooks in the remaining minute
The killers simply have no choice, you either camp / tunnel or get -5 gene and tbag on the gate 3 minutes after the start of the matchwell, or you need to play only as a nurse
You aren't understanding the flow of matches here.
I pretty much always lose at least 2 gens for my first hook but what you need to remember is that once you get that first hook you have pressure. Now someone has to come off gens to unhook so with that one hook you have now halved gen progress, let alone if you had Jolt/Pain Res etc to further slow gens on top of that.
Now you have two survivors left on gens so if you start pursuing one of them you now have only one survivor pressuring gens. If you know the location of that last survivor and get a quick down you can slug and push that last survivor off the gen so at that point you have zero on gens.
You gain pressure by hooking and interrupting gens... Don't chase where there are no gens, don't sit around hooks where there are no gens as survivors being rescued and coming for the rescue are not progressing the game and try to hook in inconvenient locations if you can. You don't NEED to camp/tunnel, you just choose to as an easy way out
-
Thankfully it will be nerfed and it most definitely needs to be as it is carrying killers in matches they really should not have won. I can honestly say I have only ever run Eruption once and that was to get my Nemesis adept (got it first try) which I only got around to in the last month or two.
I have had frustrating matches where I have admittedly been salty because a killer has been carried by this combo and I have told them post match they are going to be absolutely screwed once this is inevitably nerfed if they don't learn to actually chase effectively and pressure the map over patrolling 3 gens the entire time.
I cant wait for the inevitable nerf as solo survivor is currently absolutely miserable with this combo on top of the excessive tunnelling and camping
-
I agree with him about tunnelling, I never tunnel off hook yet I still win the vast majority of my killer matches and I don't consider myself a highly skilled killer either. Sure, some matches I get absolutely stomped by survivors and that never feels good but this is the exception not the rule. Claiming you need to tunnel is an excuse for not getting better at the game
I also believe Scott is right in that the community needs to change here as BHVR can only do so much. This is why I believe the DC penalty should be removed and replace DC'd survivors with bots (for killer it isn't going to be viable for now). So if someone insists on tunnelling someone out at 5 gens the chances are they are only ever going to play with bots as the community will not tolerate it. They will have to adjust their behaviour
Penalise those who excessively DC with random waves of temp bans at unannounced intervals to keep some level of fear of consequences and also quietly queue those with excessive DC's with others who DC excessively to help correct that behaviour with its obvious consequences.
The fact is if you tunnel someone out, you deny them the ability to earn points, to play as part of a team and to pip up (if they care) and it is a miserable experience being tunnelled out so I am 100% behind trying anything to discourage this insidious tactic
-
Some days I seem to hit all, others I don't seem to but I don't really try that much to actually hit them either
