  • Well rank isn't really even rank any more, its grade based on play time each month and the incentive is the BP at reset.

I personally miss the old system before SBMM, hell I miss old DBD in general.

  • I just want them to stop adding weird loops that are useless, as they have done all over Coldwind and most loops on Toba and Nostromo. They are an indirect nerf to survivor in most cases and while the game was far too survivor sided years back, they have made many maps significantly smaller but also added junk loops that are extremely unsafe.

I was all for survivors being nerfed but I feel this went too far on specific maps. Cant be bothered writing a novel but I think most people can figure out which ones.

Oh and I agree with killers that some maps like preschool and OG Eyrie always have been and are still pretty rough for them

  • @PetTheDoggo said:

Just increase DC penalty, so players think a little bit more about quiting.

The amount of players I have seen to DC, when they are about to be sacrificed is pathetic. Like you are about to be done in 10 seconds, why the hell would you DC?

Those players clearly don't enjoy DBD, so simply force them to take a break…

I enjoy DBD most of the time, otherwise I would not have played it for thousands of years over more than half a decade.

However there are some things I find close to unbearable, generally specific killers or full slowdown builds. It is incredibly hard to be motivated in those matches and unfortunately I get no say in the killers I verse (my biggest negative).

Not advocating or saying I have left specific matches but I suspect the same sentiment applies to most people. Nobody would keep playing a game they hate but some matches man…

  • Congrats General, I do not like SM myself but I am happy for you as you are one of the most amiable characters on these forums :)

  • I don't think everyone is against this but I personally dislike the idea of buffing everything to the same level, be that killer or perks.

Not every killer can be S tier and not every perk can or should be popular or meta and I think them constantly trying to buff everything is a mistake, as it just creates an absolute mess of new metas and unexpected new ways to create misery for the other side.

  • Yes, incredibly tedious and annoying to go against and I see them far too often.

I have stopped playing even though I want to farm this event for cakes and Ghoul is one big reason, as I just cant bring myself to find the energy to participate in matches against Ghoul. They aren't the only killer I feel this way about but they are so common I hit the point where I just cant do it again and I have to close DBD.

I wish we could choose to not verse certain killers, that is the main reason I struggle to be invested in certain matches. But this isn't possible so I am forced to verse Ghoul over and over… which means my only option is to just not play at all.

    @I_CAME said:

I finally quit the game entirely and uninstalled because of him. I played a few days worth of the event and couldn't take playing against him anymore. I have never hated a killer as much as the Ghoul. It's not even close. It's impressive to me because I never thought for a second they would outdo the disaster that was Skull Merchant.

I guess Ghoul mains didn't like your comment lol? Yeah I feel this, it is a big reason I just cant bring myself to play even though I want to for the cakes.

  • Well for survivor 4 slowdowns are absolutely miserable to go against and even more so on high mobility/S tier killers.

For killers with some game sense, there is no downside to this as you generally have a good idea where survivors are without auras and addons can help even more.

Full 4 slowdown builds should not even be possible, I would rather killers be compensated in other ways, as facing this is just so utterly miserable.

  • I have wanted this for years, I had to use sites to create random builds for me and load them up myself. It would be great to have one button to do this.

I often get bored with the game so random perks sometimes spice it up for me and it would be good to be able to do this on demand and not just during shuffle

  • If anything I would think most people would argue that if any crossplay ban was wanted it would be for Epic Games players.

Of course there is literally zero chance this ever will happen and with all due respect, it's a ridiculous suggestion. But we all know cheaters are pretty much all on Epic accounts and the fallout from giving the game away for free on Epic is still being felt all these years later

  • People would just smurf and sweaty players would queue in casual queues to bully casual and inexperienced players.

Unfortunately it goes back to the whole 'this is why we cant have nice things' - you always have to account for the lowest common denominator and the potential for them to abuse things for their own personal gratification.

Everyone would be better off if the Go Next mechanic would properly detect anyone that ragequits, and gives them a DC penalty.

If someone is throwing the match, they are clearly breaking game rules, and should be punished with a DC penalty. The solution should be "the Go Next system needs to do better".

Well all I can say is good luck with that one, I would think the reason people are going next is more important but hey… let's just continue down this path and hope it works out better than hit has so far.

  • Can I go the opposite way and instead if I could dramatically change the perk situation for DBD, I would delete 2 thirds of all perks and addons?

The game is such a cluster ######### of perks and addons its a nightmare to try and figure out why you're exposed, mangled, your aura is revealed or you're exhausted etc.

The best case scenario is if no one ragequits. And if there are people that are 100% determined to frequently ragequit, the best case scenario is to give them a super high DC penalty.

But that isn't reality, they do want out of matches and if you make DC penalties higher they will just be even more determined to not DC and instead waste everyone's time by constructively throwing the match without overtly doing so.

Not advocating it but the fact is everyone would actually be better off with a bot over a person who is throwing the match.

  • As I am sure others have mentioned, DC is the best case scenario for the team as at least you get a bot that does gens and has wall hacks and cannot be mind gamed, so while not amazing they can still take up killers time.

However personally I have not really seen any noticeable increase in DC's, I just see people giving up but wasting everyone's time pretending they aren't trying to go next so the killer will hook them. Sure it keeps them in the match longer but if they aren't actually doing much to anything of use, is this really a win for anyone?

Add: Back the horror aspect and hide and seek playstyle.

    Remove: Kaneki

Yeah I still miss old Coldwind and the very dark horror aesthetic of the old version(s) of DBD. It doesn't feel like a horror game at all anymore and I think it lost a lot of its charm and vibe because of that.

I would add back horror too and make maps night time.

I would remove the weird and very weak loops they added as an obvious nerf to survivor while also reducing map sizes.

At least twins are rare because their gameplay bores even most killer players to death. The same can't be said for ghoul, unfortunately.

True…. though for me one Twins game per year is one too many

  • I absolutely will not stand for this claim!

Twins is by far the worst designed killer, that encourages the most miserable and unfun game play of slug, camp slug, slug and camp slug then repeat.

But Kaneki is pretty awful and unfun for sure, I do not enjoy them in the slightest and can honestly say I have never had a fun Kaneki match

  • Well I rarely see bots now other than when everyone abandons, as it seems less people will DC due to the penalties or something.

Instead we get stuck with people who don't want to play but wont DC…

    Legion Fatigue, exact same thing

    Blight Fatigue, exact same thing

But you cant stun them in that second the animation plays and the window is only longer with Nurse because her fatigue animation is quite long

  • @PolarBear said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3962185#Comment_3962185

Other killers lack the same stun protection during their power cooldowns and thus can be penalised twice though.

When though? What killer locked in animation can be stunned while locked in an animation?

This doesn't work for the same reason you cant pallet save if you drop the pallet too early while the killer is in the pick up animation. I know people don't like this fact but downvoting me doesn't make me wrong.

  • Because then they are being penalised twice, you can stun her immediately after fatigue still, which is even worse. It just isn't easy to do.

  • Pretty much the majority of them up to Twins imo, then it went downhill from there.

Almost all of the killers I absolutely despise versing started at and includes Twins, so I wont waste my time with a tier list as its pretty simple to sum up for me. I prefer the old school killers without a doubt

  • Hey I will take the extra BP I guess, I have not had the time to play as much so I am not angry about this at all

  • They wont get it, some do but if you're against actual babies many don't.

I will also add, that I am probably what most would consider a veteran and as a result I have trust issues with killers. I have had killers let me open the gate so they can mori me right before the exit… so if you give me the slightest off vibe I will not trust you and instead try to get away too.

  • @DBD78 said:

That's enough hours to quit any game really. Lot's of unfun changes coming up also for killers that will now see fog and fog, fog etc it's not about being OP or not just annoying. So let's see if the number of players will go down after this or not I think it will but game will continue and I will continue for a while yet and I have more than twice of your gametime lol.

I hope the upcoming changes do something for the survivor experience, particularly solo survivor, as current DBD is really miserable and I think there is a good reason killer queues are so long.

  • Again… why are we forced to put up with this?

    image.png
  • Solo survivor is really bad at present, not every match of course but enough to put me off playing.

I don't publicly announce that I am leaving the game though or tell friends I am done, as I have 'quit' many times before but I end up coming back after many months.

But it is getting tough even though I really want to farm up BP during this event, I go into the game and I get Kaneki back to back or tunnelling killers… just makes it hard to not close the game and play something else.

  • Tunnelling to me is when a killer will directly target a survivor who has been unhooked in front of them, when they have other options they choose to ignore. It can also be 'tunnel vision' where a killer refuses to drop chase no matter how much it is costing them (gens going fast) but the first one is the only real problem most of us have with tunnelling.

Also worth saying what I think it NOT, if a killer cannot find anyone else and they happen upon you when you were the last one off hook, that is not tunnelling, you just got unlucky. I can even understand it if a killer has one gen left and say only 1 or 2 hooks, it is still tunnelling but at least somewhat understandable.

What I think most us mean when we are frustrated with tunnelling is killer who repeatedly target the same survivor as soon as they get unhooked, until they completely remove them from the match. Which leaves the 3 remaining survivors with an uphill battle to recover

  • Yes but this is a bit of a 'water is wet' kinda thing lol, I don't think many people will disagree.

  • In fairness, the purple bottle is the most annoying thing about Clown so encouraging the well underused yellow piss bottles is probably not the worst idea. Clown can be pretty strong in chase if you do use yellow properly but I notice very few people ever do.

Not saying Clown is strong by any means but it does seem like one of the better parts of his kit is criminally under-utilised

Genuinely the best way is to make DCs more attractive than staying and hurting the trial while adding kickbacks that prevent the trial from ending because of that. Bots are good but we need Killer bots as well. Then backfilling for the queue, which players can opt in or out of.

Yeah the bots are there for a reason and while ideally you want someone to play a match, DC penalties encourage the worst option of the two where the rest of the team gets left with nothing instead of a bot that will at least try its botty best, which is more than someone who wants out will do

  • I would just because its something to shake things up, add Lucky Break and Iron Will and you could have a lot of fun with it imo. I would probably bring Strength in Shadows to heal if really desperate, its a nice perk I used to run quite often too even if it isn't always worth having it

  • Well as I have said countless times, it keeps them in the match but it cant make them actually want to put their heart and soul into a match and in many ways a bot would be better.

I guess the problem for BHVR is they cant just let the go next epidemic continue but the problem is, how do you make people play matches they don't want to play?

I am not sure this can really be fixed

  • I enjoyed messing around with that perk a lot but I noticed some time ago it seemed to not have any effect anymore so I stopped using it.

Turns out I wasn't just going crazy after all lol. I do hope they fix it then as I agree with others, this perk could be a lot of fun and combined with Iron Will you could get away with some really hilarious stuff

Imagine you not being able to play a game you bought cause your ping was bad or just terrible for a day. Sometimes it's not even the person's internet fault but the game itself that causes ping to massively raise.

Why would you buy a PVP game if you know your internet is bad and it will ruin the experience for others in the first place? So it is everyone else's problem if you have bad internet? Well, it ends up being everyone else's problem and if the game is putting you into servers with higher ping, find another lobby but even then I have never seen the game put anyone in 700ms lobbies!

    @Scarlett1111 said:

If someones ping is actively causing people to have a less enjoyable time in the game, they simply should not be able to play PVP games. If they cannot consistently get a steady ping they do not deserve to be playing something online with other people that require tighter internet connection.

    Totally agree.

If you have bad internet, well it sucks to be you but I don't see why everyone else in a match should just have to suffer because you have bad internet. You can still play countless PVE and COOP games too

I'm based in Europe, and I often times play with people from the US. Hi there @HeroLives
While I have around 40 ping on my local European server, I sit at around 120 ping on the US East server, which is manageable against low-ping killers in that region. But as soon as I see someone who has more than 100 ping, things get crazy fast. It is as if the netcode can't handle ping differences of more than around 200 ms. Like, I have been hit more times behind walls and at the safe side of a window than what should be allowed.

I play NA servers from OCE but ONLY as survivor, my ping to west coast servers is about 150ms - 180ms and for survivor the difference is it puts me at a big disadvantage, as I cant greed anything and constantly get hit 10 feet through windows and pallets etc. I am really talking about killers who exploit ping as it gives them a very obvious advantage

    @I_Cant_Loop said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3957679#Comment_3957679

BHVR allows this because they really don’t care if you have to play with high ping teammates or opponents. If they really did care, they would let players see the actual pings of everyone in the lobby. They care far more about player count than quality of the player experience.

Making ping visible in lobbies again would almost solve the problem with virtually no other intervention needed by BHVR. As we could simply leave a lobby with some killer trying to abuse 700ms ping and they would have to find servers closer to them

  • @DBD2025MakesMeSad said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/450242/how-is-this-okay

Like you I often have around 20 ping, I am always getting cheated on vaults where I will be hit after taking multiple steps through the window as a survivor. Then to make it feel even more unfair, on the opposite side, being a good ping killer you are forced to have to be 100% accurate with everything no leeway whatsoever.

I don't think it would irritate me so much if I felt like I wasn't punished for being a good ping survivor against a middling to bad ping killer

I mostly play solo queue these days and it irritates me that I have a great connection and I am not dropping out of the match with stability issues etc. However, if some unethical exploiter wants to abuse ping as this guy clearly was, there is nothing I can do and I either have to just put up with someone abusing ping or DC.

  • @DevLinky said:

I swear fixing this + MMR would greatly increase the escape rate.

Well I mean, this is a guaranteed win for this killer which should not be a thing simply because someone is exploiting factors outside of the control of their opponents.

  • @BorisDDAA said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3957651#Comment_3957651

I mean… we used to have ping in the lobby so we could avoid these people but it got removed. Clearly something's going on.

Yep I played back before dedicated servers so I remember that too (and the lag switching lol).

Even just showing ping in the lobby would make the problem work itself out, as only those who think 700ms ping is okay would stay and the rest of us could leave and play normal matches instead!

  • @Scarlett1111 said:

Don't understand how its 2025 yet this game can barely hold up on any front. Gamebreaking bugs in the game for over a week, servers falling apart nearly every day, no ping limitations just allowing people to queue into a game at 1k+ ping and not be punished, high ping getting the upper hand while lower ping players get screwed over.

I do think this one is a really basic one to fix, no PVP game should allow people to play matches at 700ms ping lmao. It's absolute madness

  • @Nazzzak said:

Not long ago, I went against an Oni with over 1000 ping lol it was anyone's guess where he'd appear from and when you'd go down

Lol… I mean, not funny but I can only laugh at the absurdity of this even being a thing. This wasn't that bad but not far off, no way you can possibly outplay hits as there is literally no way to know where the killer actually is relative to your own position. Crazy…

  • Pretty sure you cant refund these anyway so no wonder you got no response.

  • I am reminded of the Nurse cheaters a lot of us encountered, who had the entire team hooked in the basement within the first 30 seconds of the match, so fast that you got an AFK penalty for dying so fast lol.

Yet EAC didn't have any problem with this at all lmao 🤦‍♂️

  • @VibranToucan said:

I usually have 30 to 40 ping and it feels like punished for having good ping.

Like when I played against a Survivor with like 300 ping and they just seemingly teleported around. Worst was the Wesker with literally 1000+ ping where I predropped a pallet, and half a second later then he grabbed me as if I still hadn't even reached the pallet yet.

Either having bad ping should DC you or they should fix their net code to give bad ping a huge disadvantage.

I feel the same, I actually seem to get punished for having extremely good ping (I was the top 14ms one in my image), as the hits that got me were obscene and it was literally unplayable. I really don't get how this is allowed to happen

  • @BorisDDAA said:

    Less customers

I disagree with that, every single person I see abusing ping could play on servers closer to them, they just CHOOSE to play on servers where they have obscene ping as that gives them an unfair advantage. It is essentially exploiting imo

    @Iron_Cutlass said:

I dont think the issue is someone's ping but moreso the fact that the netcode accepts too much information without proper verification. I personally would not mind facing off against someone with 700+ ms, but it should at least feel fair for me if I have a more stable internet connection, it currently does not feel fair with how things currently are tho.

You would not mind facing someone with 700ms ping?!!! I don't even know if we can have any meaningful discussion if you consider 700ms ping is in any way acceptable in any online game other than PVE

Edit to add: people voting me down for my OP saying 700+ ms ping is ridiculous and should not happen?! I guess some people love going against killers with such high ping they hit you out of nowhere and it is literally unplayable? SMH…

  • You have to sit through the DC timer I think, if you don't try to join and set off the timer it will be waiting for you next time you start the game. So I guess you had a 15 minute ban last time you played and you just closed the game

  • I think this would be less of a problem if it wasn't for the fact this terrible killer will in fact be rewarded for waiting for the unhook and tunnelling you out, which I assume is what they did if anyone even got the unhook.

Honestly what I am really waiting for is some kind of base kit anti tunnel to make this insidious 'strategy' non-viable or at least not as worthwhile

  • I was observing team mates and this was where one of my team mates was when he got hit through a window

    image.png

Why doesn't BHVR implement ping limits?

  • Not that I am a big white knighting for BHVR kind of person… but you get about 24 - 26 per prestige at present from my own matches so far where I have actually paid attention.

I am accumulating cakes far faster than I am using them, with each match being at least 150 - 200k or much more BP. I don't think there is much to complain about, I have more on multiple survivors than I'd say I can ever use during this event

  • Because MMR is a mirage, mostly.

I can only laugh at streamers who claim they always go against the top MMR players, that is why they lost a match, rather than they simply got outplayed or even just got bad RNG.

Sure at times it can feel like you do get lucky with MMR but I think we all notice how we often have a mix of team mates who have absolutely no idea what they are doing and 10k hour juicers, all in the same random lobby. I suspect this is a big part of why individual MMR is kept secret, if we knew we'd realise how bad matchmaking really is.

The twist is… that is actually okay. I like the randomness but I can see if you expect MMR to actually work as you think it should, you're gonna have a bad time.

It’s not a lack of understanding, I very much understand. You think I haven’t experienced salty killers? I’m curious though why you expect others to understand or care about your experience when you don’t care about theirs.

When did I ask anyone to care?

Again, not sure you get my point if you think I am asking for anyone to care, the fact is you cant make people play matches they don't want to and no forced participation will work. It clearly isn't either, it is just prolonging people leaving matches they effectively were not in in the first place.
