Stuff like FOMO etc. I know what SWF is lol

So a few weeks back, they announced that all non-licensed cosmetics are eventually going to become available with shards. Everyone cheers, give or take a few saltlords that don't want anyone to own things for free that they had to pay for. Consensus is that this is a great step forward and a pretty generous move from BHVR.

New outfits are now cell only for about a month, whereupon they become available with shards permanently thereafter.

Now, this. And it gets me thinking...

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UCOV545GRDTR/image.png

Did we just trade the old system where they release half their cosmetics cells-only and half free, to a new system where they do the exact same thing, except the cell-only cosmetics go away forever?

Like... I don't like conspiracy or ascribing malicious motives where Occam's Razor will do the trick. But was this a stealthy ploy where BHVR pretended to do something nice and then snuck a sting in the tail by changing the whole system to something worse, and coincidentally more profitable? From where I'm standing, it looks like that's exactly what happened and this was planned from the start.

Because if so, I want my "some skins are randomly auric cells only, but they're always available" model back. Like, a lot.

Almost nobody wanted FOMO. Please stop.

Stupid question but what does FOMO stand for?

Ok, glad to know I'm not alone! Not that I want this to happen to anyone else.

I find that if I turn off my system and let it sit for 20 minutes it's fine the rest of the time. So far haven't had an issue.

  • I play on the PS4 and had it happen a couple times today.

YEAH NOPE; used it twice in a row and twice in a row i spawned right next to the killer, match starts immediate heart beat and i'm found first...FIX IT PLS!

I am so glad to see it wasn't just me. Every time I use Vigos Shroud I always end up right next to the killer.

TBH they just need to get better at being able to accommodate the low end without giving new tools to the high end. If there's anything we've learned with how they handle balance, that type of nuance is the one thing they will never truly understand. The whole Thana situation will always be a perfect example of that, as will how many disasters happen across various PTBs. They need to make things more intuitive and self evident instead of wondering why 90% of the community has a semi-justified bias against people running perks like self care. Hell, there are still people who call perks like Windows a training wheels baby perk, when its legit meta at high MMR currently (especially in solo.)

Too many aspects of the game require experience or crazy acute game sense to understand, and at face value newer players are going to get rolled over it constantly. More experienced players either learn that extra info and get better, or complain and stay stuck there. None of that will ever change until the game holds their hands in the understanding part rather than the second chances or even the information provided ones.

Think it would help with their stats more if they added PTB to consoles? I ask because when they run PTB it's only on the computer and they will always have different results than those of us who play on console?

As a streamer myself, no one is entitled to anything extra or less just because they have TTV in their name. They’re all players just as much as everyone else is.

Ok wasn't sure. I remembered watching a video by SpookyLoops and he had a TTV person in his group and he said oh look a TTV person let's give them the Streamer Privilege and I was like ok what does that mean.

there is an easy solution. Give those who can’t play what they PAID FOR enough cells to buy a chapter and enough blood points to compensate for how much they leveled up.

Now you're just making too much sense you can't do that lol. But I agree. I didn't know about the vouchers and now makes me not want to get a PS5 because I didn't have the physical disk I only bought the chapter through PS store. Maybe BHVR should compensate us for said content or contact Netflix and be like look no one could find a PS5 so can we offer vouchers again that do not expire for those of us who bought the content.

  • Dredge 100% only because it's creepy when you can't see a thing. He could be right next to you and you wouldn't know it LOL.

BHVR and Killer consider it totally sportsmanlike and fair. Game isn’t broken at all.

I remember one game against a Freddy not even 10 seconds into game all 3 of my teammates dced so obviously a SWF and I was just going to let the killer kill me since I couldn't solo 5 gens. Instead he had me do 2 gens 3 cleansing totems and I let him kill me.

  • Not everyone can be an Otz, potatolegion or a spooksnJukes. Some of us do try. The longest I have ever been able to loop a killer was for 15 seconds and only because the one time I used sprint burst, lithe, balanced landing and windows of opportunity. Everyone has their way of playing. As long as everyone is contributing like gens cleansing totems etc it shouldn't matter.

Perhaps giving survs guardian as basekit would help discourage tunneling. Gives the unhooked survivor much better chance to escape.

Maybe even make the haste effect linger a bit longer, or to really punish killers for tunneling have it persist until the surv leaves the killers TR. Ignoring killer's stealth effects obvs.

I thought Rebecca's perk to pause the timer helped with campers and tunnelers?

  • @Travis_Bateman said:

Or you guys have been getting a lot of campers/face - campers at 5 gens these days ? Like, they don't even need to camp, and they still do it,could sayi'm having the same experience with slugging,i simply don't understand...

I play survivor 90% of the time and I only see it a couple of times but I mainly see it at end game but it doesn't bother me I just move on to the next game.

Yeah I agree some sort of communication is a necessity at this point, imo they should add a dialogue wheel with premade text like "I'm doing a gen", "the killer is chasing me" etc.

It would definitely make a difference. I think if a communication command was added the game would be more balanced survivor wise anyways. Let's hope in the future BHVR will add it.

  • @GrimoireWeiss said:

60% kill rate makes sense because survivor is a team role. Everyone needs to be working decently and accordingly to get good results. Everyone here knows already how a single weak link can give the killer a 4k even if the other 3 survivors are looping gods. 50/50 results are fit more into the symmetrical game, just look how Among Us, probably the most succesful assymetrical game ever, also gave impostors a 60% win rate.

The only thing that needs adjustment is how this 60% kill rate is achieved. Right now the problem is that camping and tunneling are way too powerful while going for hooks and skillful plays isn't rewarding at all.

I agree with what you said except one thing. You're forgetting you can't play as a team and work together if you have let's say 3 SWFs and a solo person.

That's why I think BHVR should add something for the survivors to communicate. But if they do this then you will have the killers complain that survivors work too much together. I have seen many videos on YouTube where killers have gotten mad because of SWFs because they work good together. Now the question is how to balance where a solo person can communicate with the others. A solo person will always be weaker than their mates because of lack of communication.

In solo q, we’re a team so far as we’re all working toward a similar objective. Similar, not the same. I would like everyone to escape, and play to help my fellow survivors get out with me. My primary goal however, is to escape myself. There is no ‘b’, ‘l’, ‘o’,’o’, ‘d’, ‘p’, ‘o’, ‘i’, ‘n’, ‘t’, or ‘s’ in ‘team’.

So for the love of the entity, stop letting me get well into to 2nd stage on my 1st hook early in the game. If, however, you do choose to do so realize my secondary objective switches from ‘help teammates escape’ to ‘avoid helping teammates even at my own detriment because I’m just that spiteful’.

I brought circle of healing and you’re literally shoving a dull totem in my face? Boons? Never heard of them.

You get hooked? Sorry, I’m on death hook and am not going to be sticking my neck out.

You need a heal? You know, I would but I’m kind of busy with this generator.

This^^^ 100%. I just love how people let you get to the second hook just so they can get gen points. Newsflash it's easier to live if 4 are working on gens not 3.

  • Today 80% of my games have been Legion on Coldwind. It's a nightmare lol.

  • I main survivor solo. I don't have friends who play DBD to use for custom to practice getting better at looping etc so when I play I try and 9 out of 10 times I fail lol. My point is I don't know if this will hurt the game or balance it more or what. All I know is that no matter what happens both sides will always be mad about something. If you die you die it was meant to be. I just play to have fun and get the occasional jump scares from Meyer and Ghostface mains lol

  • Forgot to mention starting right next to killer lol

  • Mean messages. I had to turn my PS4 messages off unless it's friends thanks to the toxicity of people. And it's not even when you do something wrong.

Don't let yourself feel that way; if things are going south, you could initiate farming for points and hooks. 99% seem to love that, even when the match is lopsided. That might cheer you up a bit and your BP balance will thank you.

I thought killers don't like farming and it'sa waste of their time? A lot of comments I have seen in other threads killers say this a lot. I could be wrong though wouldn't be the first.

  • Can we all just agree that both sides are toxic to each other and use perks both sides hate.🤔

  • Surprisingly I have never used DH or DS. I find them to be toxic to killers. With that said I don't hate on those who use it. It's an evil necessity.

This. It's not the killer's fault your teammates DCed.

Again. I never said in my OP it was the killers fault. I know for a fact it was my team's fault. I simply asked is it good or not. Maybe I worded it wrong. I understand and know killers do not like to farm as it is boring and time consuming to them. I don't blame them. With that said I just felt like my cake which was rare a 4th anniversary was wasted. I am done with this post now. Thank you to all those who read what I said.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

So the killer was just suppose to sit there and watch you do a gen for 80 seconds so you could get enough bloodpoints for 2-4 nodes?

I would have just killed you and moved on to. Maybe look for the hatch to give you if it isn't to hidden.

In that scenario you don't blame the killer for killing you but your teammates for leaving you.

I didn't say it was the killers fault. I know it was the other survivors fault. I just wanted to get some points even just to finish my generator which was at 1/2 way then he could have killed me. Please don't put words in my mouth. Maybe I worded my OP wrong.

That's not a hack but an event offering.

And I don't mean your internet but this game programed with spaghetti code somehow not being able to take the killer DCing and THINKING that it crashed on your side (instead of simply sending you back into the lobby) so you also get a penalty for a pseudo DC.

Thanks for the info. Didn't realize this was part of the event lol.

  • @burt0r said:

Only if it's a hacker. Normal killer DC do nothing for survivor.

Or maybe the canceling of the match resulted in a crash on your side which in succession was registered as DC on your part.

That would be the the only logical explanation outside of a hacker for me.

On the end game with the names it showed a DC on Killer. Its not my internet as I just had them come out a couple days ago and everything runs fine. But the killer did look like a hacker. It was Bubba and he was shooting himself up with the same serum that blight does. So unless Bubba gets that idk.

  • @SilentShepherd said:

just played a game vs an SWF

    My opinion :

    SWF = custom games only,

    or

reveal SWF in the lobby, to show who is grouped. Then the Killer can decide to stay to leave lobby.

SWF should be removed from matchmaking. You want to play with your friends? Get a friend to play Killer and abuse your friend. Don't abuse me, an innocent gamer trying to have a fun time.

made me want to quit and uninstall. all 4 got away, gen rushed me 3-4 gens in first 5 minutes. i hooked 2 people. one of them at start, and one at the end, but the other 3 came to save her with flashlights and full health and coordination. As I can only slash 1 person at a time with a basic attack cooldown, they all coordinated their attack to save her from different angles.

And about the Gens. When it was down to 1 gen, they left 1 gen at each corner of map, and they coordinated it perfectly. There was NOTHING, I REPEAT, NOTHING ANYONE CAN DO VS A COORDINATED SWF on DISCORD with microphones. Oh, you defend this gen? Fine, they tell their buddy on microphone in discord : "hurry hurry, killer is at my gen, fix yours!!!" ... and repeat. if you ever waste 10 seconds chasing any of them, they tell the others to repair. You can't even patrol. They will fix it due to perfect communication because survivors are at each gen telling the others.

made me want to uninstall. SWF is toxic.

I understand the feeling. As a solo survivor I am always being left on hook for full cycle or they all leave me behind when I get hit. I hate to say it but I agree with killers. SWF is annoying as they only help each other well from what I have experienced anyways.

  • When killers camp I work on gens and totems. Yes it's difficult to get points for unhooking a teammate but when a killer camps, survivors should be working on the objective. I am a survivor main not killer. Sometimes you just have to say it is what it is.

  • The crows I think is more to help survivors. It shows the killer that majority of the time a person who is hiding is not helping fellow survivors. So I see it as the killer can go after those people first which is good in my book. The camping/tunneling thing happens only because survivors like to pull people off hooks in front of the killer which makes them stay by the hook to protect their kill. I used to have a problem with it but I got used to it. When you play the other side it makes more sense and I am a survivor main. Remember it is 4 survivors verses one killer.😊

  • THIS⬆⬆. It is too easy to go up against trapper. Give the guy more than one starter trap. Huntress can have 5 axes so why not trapper have extra traps. Yes I know there is an add on but still. I feel bad every time I go against trapper. Trapper needs love too.

  • @Grandkurama said:

I know this has been said a lot of times, but i still feel the need of writing this.

He's seriously so weak against competent survivors. There are a lot of problems that afflicts him right now.

By the time you set his traps, 90% of the time at least 2 generators have been done.

He is too addon-reliant, and even then he isn't so scary to face. Holding 2 traps should be in his base-kit. And corrupt intervention is a must if you want to win.

Because of poor mobility and rng on trapped survivors, he suffers a lot in big maps. If a survivor gets trapped far away, by the time you get there he probably already got away. I think there should be a set number of times the survivor has to wiggle in order to free himself, or maybe another survivor MUST free a trapped one.

I don't like so much the fact that dead hard completely negates his power.

The ability to reopen a trap without picking it up and disabling saboing the traps was a step in a good direction, but he still needs some tweaks. He is the game's mascot, I don't understand why he gets ignored...

These are just some ideas. Feel free to write what do you think Trapper needs in order to make him a viable killer.

This⬆⬆⬆ Trapper is way to easy to play against. Let's at least give him 5 traps to carry without his add on to carry an extra. If Huntress can have 5 starter axes and the Trickster have tons of knives then at least give some love to trapper. Every game I play against one I feel bad. Trappers need love too.

  • I can honestly say I have never used dead hard. No point in me using it when I am crappy at looping a killer. However I have seen many of my fellow survivors abuse it. Besides most of the time I try to cleanse bones.

  • @konchok said:

The server crash can only happen while the hunt is active. As a killer I've been ignoring the box and the survivors still ignore it and then the server crashes. Please for goodness sake, solve the cube. I'm begging you.

Every match I play I solve the box. I go out of my way to do it LOL. Just something satisfying about it.

Do you think it would be healthy for the game to force players to play a set amount of killer and survivor matches?

The best way to look at a issue, is to look at the issue from every angle. This will force players recognize issues for both killers and survivors. Players who refuse the to play their given role could also be penalized in some fashion.

    Any other ideas are welcomed.

I am sorry but I can't agree with this. If you start forcing people to play roles they don't like it will kill the player base. I play both however I would never force someone to play a role they didn't like nor would I penalize them. You can't force people to play the way you want.

Are you kidding me? You want to force people to play a role they may not want to and if they don't they get penalized? That is a quick way to kill the player base. Not everyone wants to play both sides. If they do they can, shouldn't force people especially in a game. I play both every now and then however I do not agree with forcing people to play the way you want.

Taking hatch away would cause no alternate escape as a last resort. Removing hatch would give killers an easy 4k when 3 survivors are killed. I dont think we will see to your favor any time soon. Sorry!

Well at least get rid of keys. Too many times I see people take the hatch mid game and those of us who solo are in the dark and end up facing killer alone. I see mainly SWF do this. The killer gets so mad they take it out on people or person who is left. If this is not good then don't let hatch open until last gen is done. Maybe that will prevent it. All I know is it just makes the killer more mad and makes the game that much harder.

Altogether the consoles do indeed outnumber PCrs, and PlayStation was closing in on PC all by themselves. For that reason alone you'd figure consoles would move up in proiroty some.

I've seen it elsewhere in this forum the theory that the devs were coasting on Xbox1 and PS4 to get to the newer gen machines. But Covid and the components/availability issues combined to streach the lives of the proir gen ones and still is. Plus recent patches have dropped performance on those newer consoles as well.

They seem to have quite the predicament on their hands. Their largest playerbase is stuck on the older machines they cannot or will not properly support any more (something like 80-85%). We are all feeling the burn badly now, and are starting to organize and rise up some in a common voice. The performance drop on PC recently just made it all worse for them too.

All the tinder needs now is that spark to ignite, just like during the colorblind episode. I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually Camcom at this point that lights it.

I agree. I would take it a step further and say the only reason console players have not left the game is because so far there is no other game like DBD with iconic slashers. I think you are right. It will take some company like Capcom to light that fire under their butts. I would hate to be BHVR if majority of their main base (console players) left. I understand that there are many issues and coding that go into this and trying to figure out what's what but any other game would have sunk already.

  • I am not a fan of playing legion. My son however loves playing Julie. He loves to go around and make people mend. I think he likes even more when he can go across pallets and windows. I remember one match he scared a Meg and she blew up the generator because he didn't look like a killer.

  • In my opinion I wouldn't expect the devs to work on consoles. They have made it obvious that they cater more to PC players. I could have swore console players outnumbered PC players but I could be wrong. I expect that they will never optimize for consoles. They will just give excuses or the same old "we are working on it". To me it seems they are purposely procrastinating. That is why like I said in previous posts that they need PTB on consoles as well since PC problems will be different from console problems.
