Franklin's Demise is that perk that annoys the hell out of survivors more than almost all of the others. By the time you get back to your item, if you're even able to, the charges are mostly if not all gone and at best you get to keep your item IF you escape. I think this perk should only disable the use of your item for a duration instead of making you drop it.
For sure it's annoying losing your item right at the start. It's probably one of the most underrated non-direct slow down perk in the game, especially when you see multiple flashlights and med kits in the lobby.
You could still use the brand new part though if you had like some charges or do you lose the brand new part on dropping the item?
-
You just have to assess your position in the game and act accordingly. Like if you've gotten 2-3 hooks and your still on 5 gens then there absolutely no need to tunnel or camp. But if you haven't even managed to get 2 hooks in and you're on 3 gens remaining theres a very good chance you will lose the game so you really need to pressure one person out the game and try to secure your 3 gen before you're down to 1-2 gens.
Ideally you want to alternate between 2 survivors and try to get at least one of them hooked twice before 2 gens pop. That way you know that at least you have 1 person on death hook and of you lose another gen you can focus on that person and get them out the game. It's easier said than done through because that person will generally play it very safe for the rest of the match, but if you've paid attention to your 3-4 gen location you can usually get them at that point also.
-
Midwich is terrible now. I downed someone in the central court and there was no hooks in the central area at all. The closest one was at the corner of one of the long corridors so I was forced to drop the survivor.
-
I like playing Deathslinger with sloppy, bloodhound, lethal pursuer & STBFL.
I actually enjoy just running around trying to land crazy shots and tracking players all over the map. I hardly ever bother with gen pressure because I'm not really fussed about winning those games.
I think because I go in with a different goal in mind I can actually just chill and have fun messing around with one of my favourite killers. I think he's probably going to be my first max prestige character.
-
I bought a new account on PC a few weeks ago (I've played console for a few years) & naturally I had very easy games at the start due to being low MMR & having some experience already. I probably won about 20 games or so before actually facing decent teams. I was quite surprised when I started using Billy that I was matched with a full SWF all 25+ prestige, even though I had never actually used that killer before. He was basically running 1 tier 1 perk and it still matched me with that team.
I'm assuming I probably reached the MMR cap with 1 killer and as other have mentioned it then adjusted all my killer MMRs to be a few hundred points below that. I'm pretty sure it's not that difficult to reach the MMR cap & once you do you can effectively be a 1600 rated player and face players that are like 2500 because once you reach 1600 then you get placed with anyone from 1400 to whatever the maximum MMR is.

Or maybe, and I'm just spitballing here, killers should be pressuring gens. Going back to hook is literally going to the only place you know, for certain, that two survivors are already busy doing anything but gens.
Most killers seem to just hook someone, walk to the nearest gen, and unless a survivor is in plain view, go immediately back to hook, if they leave at all. There's no gen pressure there whatsoever. Then they seem astonished that the other two survivors have done nothing but gens without ever seeing the killer.
Why would you go across to the other side of the map to look for someone who may or may not be there when you can go back to the location you know for sure there is going to be at least 2 people in that area?
The best form of gen pressure is achieved by downing people and making other players leave gens to rescue & heal.
You have to look at your location & gen placement. If you have 4-5 solid gens in close vicinity to your hook location you want to stay in that area and hook in that area where possible. Theres literally zero point going outside of that zone just to satisfy the demands of cry baby survivors.

To be fair, playing killer on controller isn't overall terrible. It has some pretty glaring problems, but they can all be isolated. Things like boil over's impact (and its lack of counterbalance availability,) aiming with ranged killers (especially trickster,) aim dressing having a disproportionate impact, and some advanced techniques with certain killers powers being near impossible is quite a laundry list of issues, but your average game with any m1 killer tends to play out very similar to how it does with mouse and keyboard. The problem lies in how much of an impact those issues do have when they happen, which makes the killers that can't avoid them feel horrible to play by comparison. I would argue that things like lightening/removing/having an option to remove aim dressing can be just as helpful as something like fixing trickster's aim jitter or boil over.
Even M1 is quite different I think. It's very easy to juke a killer with FOV movements on console. Im not really sure why it's so different, but on PC I rarely lose track of the survivor, but on console I lose the survivor a lot when they FOV tech.
-
It's definitely a serious problem with solo queue. I run lethal pursuer in most of my builds & the amount of players that quit after getting downed in like 30-40 seconds at the start is unreal. It's basically 1 perk that allows you to get a fast down and then it's pretty much irrelevant unless you're running more tracking perks. It should be pretty obvious that the killer had that perk when they basically come straight at you. Suck it up and carry on playing, you basically just got unlucky.

I am often forced to let survivors bleed out on the ground, because I literally can’t get them to a hook, and they would rather bleed out than allow me to hook them. The fact that I’m often forced to slug survivors is a problem.
And it will be even worse if basekit unbreakable happens. It’s too easy to equip breakdown, and create a 3 minute safe zone just because a survivor was unhooked.
And shaming killers for slugging for the 4k is a double standard, because many of those people would gladly sweat for the 0k. If all the generators have been powered, and the killer is camping a survivor, the other 3 survivors could easily leave the game, and take the 1k, which is still a win for the survivors. But many of them will still try to get a 0k anyway.
Yeah just one of the many double standards you encounter in the game with survivors.
You get called all the names under the sun for slugging for a 4k, yet survivors will literally swarm the hook to get the 4 escape, even though they've already won the game with 3 players escaping.
One of my favourites is when a unhooked survivor intentionally body blocks you from chasing the unhooker with the endurance buff and then proceeds to call you a camping tunneler because you down them again. It's like you basically had the chance to get away, yet you actively forced the killer to chase you again.

Controller is the real reason why this perk needs to be reworked. As others have mentioned, on mouse and keyboard it has ways to counterbalance its effect fairly consistently, but on controller you're pretty much SoL. There are actually quite a few controller specific issues on killer side especially (and a handful for survivors as well,) just due to the nature of the control scheme. I feel its very important to consider both control schemes when looking at its impact.
Yeah the difference between the 2 platforms is massive. Been playing on PC for a few weeks and playing back on my Xbox now and boil over feels very different and not in a good way. The wiggle not only feels significantly greater, but it actually can stop you moving completely which is something I never encountered in PC.
I'm actually pretty disgusted at how little consideration is given to console players considering they probably make up a large portion of the playerbase.
It's about time that keyboard and mouse support is given like every other cross platform game that is groups with PC. That's literally zero excuse not to have it implemented.

And if you play against me, it's a 90% success.
Yeah I rarely see the people using it early these days like old deadhard. Basically hardly ever see the run animation & people always timing it perfectly even when you bait it.
Wonder why people are so much more skillful at using it these days over the old deadhard??? Doesn't take long to figure out that a s**t ton of people are running auto scripts.
-
Had a 1 player from SWF teabagging like crazy at the gate yesterday. Landed a crazy long shot from Deathslinger and secured the kill. That was a pretty satisfying moment lol
-
Wow the hypocrisy in this thread reeks!
-
Probably lethal pursuer. I like to get into the action fast and I use that perk in a lot of my builds.
For survivor it would probably be windows of opportunity. It's nice to have it early game, but I think it really shines in the late game because you can see which areas are dead zones very easily.

Yeah idk why people are complaining about bully squads when these team exist
bully squads actually want to interact with you and get in your face
I once had couple of claudettes bring swamp and pebble and I hiding all the time in the grass while I was nurse which makes hiding extra painful to just wait for my power to charge and walk around extra slow looking for them, wanted to die of boredom
Yeah that happens a lot especially if I snowball at the start and take out 2 survivors fast. Thing is I usually let someone go or play for the hatch, but if I'm spending like 15 mind trying to find the last 2 survivors who aren't doing anything but tapping gens and hiding in lockers I'll just slug for the 4k.

Stealth and watching the killer being clueless is fun. But I understand your frustration ofc
It was more like I just wasted 7 mins of my time rather than frustration tbh. Yeah I get the whole immersion thing and it can be fun when you outsmart the killer by hiding and creeping round trees and bushes etc to LOS them, but only if you're actually playing the game as intended.
Sitting on gens with zero interaction and being on comms telling your hide & seek buddys when to hide is probably the lamest thing I've encountered in this game, but each to their own I suppose.
-
Honestly the game costs like £5. Do you expect the Devs just to run, add new content & constantly do updates for virtually free? If you enjoy the game, support it and spend like £20 every now and again you cheapskates!
-
I've just recently purchased PC version with chat available (been playing console last few years) & I'm actually pleasantly surprised because like 90% of my games as killer people just don't actually say anything. Couple of times I've had some salty survivor giving it the old you dirty camper/tunneler/slugger etc etc & a few GGs, but mostly just nothing.
On the other hand when I started on Xbox I actually had to turn messages to friends only because it was so toxic. Maybe console is the bigger problem.
-
I think that perk should be added to some other useless or mediocre perk & maybe some people would run it in their builds. As it stands is pretty useless and I've never personally used it. You might get some value out of it in like 1/50 games when you get some meme SWF running like a boon setup, but other than that it's pretty pointless.
Most survivors relight the same totem over and over so it's actually a better time waste just to stamp it out & then come back later. It's also a good indicator of were survivors might run when injured if you know the location.
-
I mean I just bought every killer in the sale on a new account for like £40 and the game cost £5 so I really can't see how you could class a game that costs less than a new premium title pay to win.
Maybe it's just the fact that I've been playing mmorpgs on and off for years and seen people literally spend thousands of £££s in real p2w games, but I really can't see why a game that costs so little would be p2w. You wouldn't even need to buy all the killers for meta perks you could probably get away with 5 purchased killers to unlock every perk you need to play the game at the highest level. So you're looking at like £20 (including the game cost) in the sale to do this. It's hardly a number that is outwith probably 95% of the playerbase.
The fact that you can use in game currency earned through playing to purchase said killers/survivors would also make it pay for convenience (unlock things faster) over p2w, but I wouldn't even put it in that category because it costs so little in both aspects (money or time played).

i could kinda see that from some perspective, but let's say shack as an example, vaulting the window with no perks wouldn't do anything or force the survivors to change directions
Well it actually does force the survivors to run in one direction. A survivor wants to run anti clockwise using the door and window for fast vaulting. If you step through the window & then back inside it forces the survivor to run clockwise and they can't get the fast vault easily anymore. If they use the shack pallet door they also hit the window at a very narrow angle and you'll most likely get a hit, so it forces them to use the pallet much sooner and you basically get rid of one of the strongest pallets on the map.

You have to take everything people say with a pinch of salt in DBD.
I was recently called a dirty camping tunneling slugger and the worst type of player, even though I got 12 hooks & the game lasted for about 25 mins. The first person didn't die until about 6 hooks in.
The best thing about it was the salty survivor spent the first half of the game with his buddy following me about trying to do flashlight saves and body blocking hooks. I was also playing hag with like 3 rank 2 perks, so that maybe bruised some egos lol
-
I've been messing about at work on my potato laptop and it's honestly so much easier playing killer than on console. I've went from Ash 4 to Gold 1 in the last 3 days or so on a brand new account & only lost like 2 games and had a few draws. It feels significantly more responsive and much easier to keep track of survivors. A £450 laptop should not be outperforming a series X in terms of game stability.
I've actually been really enjoying playing The Trickster, which is something I never thought I would say coming from console lol.
-
I went for epic, unfortunately they block Steam when I'm at work so I can't access the platform (I work offshore on an oil rig).
I guess Epic gaming must have slipped under the radar lol.

I'd be more worried about buying a pc rather than playing on a laptop.
It's a work thing only really. I work away from home for 2-3 weeks at a time about 5-6 times a year so it's only really for that. I usually play on console at home.
-
Been playing console for a few years and just recently downloaded DBD on my laptop to play at work & the difference is huge when playing killer. Movement is much better, easier tracking & ranged killers actually feel good to play.
They should have added this ages ago considering the game has been X-Play for a long time now.
-
Yeah it's super annoying. There should be an auto fill button that you can press at anytime, so you can still use the conventional method to choose a certain perk. It's also super clunky moving the circle around on console and I end up just leaving it after I've spent like 500k points because it's so tedious.

I play maybe 3 killer games a month. I played two games back to back a few days ago against 4 man squads. One team I was pretty positive was cheating, they all held onto Dead hard forever and as soon as I swung they would use it perfectly timed. It got to the point I was swinging and missing on purpose to force out their Es. All I said in end game chat was "sus", they proceeded to berate me and leave comments on my profile. I wish there was a feature to just turn off end game chat and also to block people from being in my games.
I had quite a few games with full SWF all running Deadhard scripts doing exactly that. Literally everyone in the team landing perfectly timed Deadhards multiple times in a row. Worst thing is like half the team is just bad a looping and can still land it perfectly every time.
Tonight I had a SWF all running it and one person was just sitting in front of me healing knowing fine well that it would trigger automatically.
I honestly dont even see it that much in random games and when I do it's still very easy to bait out when playing against people who aren't cheating.
-
Every game that has crossplay enabled from console to PC should have mouse & keyboard support. I probably still wouldn't use it because I like lying on my sofa playing on the big screen, but it should still be an option.
-
I mean they could remove the DC penalty, but they would have to implement some other form of punishment for players who abuse it because they rage quit every other game.
Maybe they could implement a karma system and after X amount of DCs you go into a pool of players that also DC all the time. In order to get back in the good books & be grouped with normal players they would have to complete X amount of games without DCing. Pretty sure other games have systems like that in place.
-
Problem with the new Deadhard is the amount of auto trigger hacks/scripts. It basically the perfect perk to disguise a very subtle hack with & it's almost impossible to tell wether you've been outplayed or not.
Old Deadhard was pretty easy to bait out, but new Deadhard I'm seeing a lot more players that don't fall for the old bait tactics and land it perfectly multiple times in a game.
Like what has changed to make players timing so much better since the update? The only logical reasoning is that more people are running automated scripts because it's very easy to hide.

If memory serves me correctly, I think a Forum Moderator confirmed if you excessively camp a 3-gen and don’t attempt to down a survivor, it could be counted as holding the game hostage. I’m too lazy to look up the quote tho, but I think it’s for an extended period such as 30 minutes.
Im of the opinion that no match should last longer than 20 minutes. Devs should just make it to where the end game collapse starts at the 20 minute mark, irregardless of how many gens are done. This would solve the problem of excessively holding the game hostage for both sides and hackers holding everyone hostage (as long as it’s done on the server side).
Lol it shouldn't just be down to the killer to decide when he commits to a chase in a three gen. If survivors aren't actively committing to gens & trying to make you follow them to the opposite side of the map for the escape then that's a survivor issue.
Survivors should realise at this point they messed up and allowed the three gen to happen. It's basically a stalemate until one side decides enough is enough. In my opinion that should be the survivor team (but very rarely is) because they made the wrong play & created the situation in the first place by not paying attention to gen placement.

Ah right, so there's a hack that allows players to auto dead hard whenever a killer swings? I didn't know that, but that makes more sense.
I'm not denying the existence of cheaters, I've seen plenty of footage on YouTube and have been in 2 lobbies myself with hackers it's just nothing stood out in the OP that made me think hacker, but now I know.
I have to admit though, I've been playing DBD for over 5 years and have only encountered 2 hackers (that I'm aware of). On these forums it sounds like it's an every day experience which seems a little sus.
You would probably be surprised by the amount of subtle and hidden hacks that people use in games like this without ever knowing about it. It's fairly obvious when you have someone flying about the screen, but as you say that's not something you encounter often.
The questionable things I've witnessed quite frequently are subtle speed hacks & more recently the auto deadhard. Wall hacks are something I've been suspicious about also on both sides. Thing is it's very hard to prove this, so that's why I personally think it's a much bigger problem than we actually know about.
-
I feel that deadhard auto trigger is a real problem just now. The amount of times I suspect that hack being used is pretty substantial. These players who use it have went from having mediocre timing with old deadhard to godlike reflexes with the new deadhard and land it perfectly all the time, even though it should be a less powerful perk. It wasn't really a thing before because of the nature of the animation and it would most likely put you in an awkward position, but now it's basically just a free escape with no consequence. At this point the perk should be completely reworked or just removed from the game because it's so subtly abusable.
-
As a solo queuing survivor I see significantly more survivors DCing after 1 down or killing themselves after being hooked in under a minute than I see Killers camping & tunneling.
It's annoying when it happens, but some people on the forums would have you believe that it happens in every single game & that's not my experience. Out of 10 games it might happen 2-3 times. In the same 10 games you can easily get 4-5 survivors DCing or killing themselves in under 2 mins.
Solo queue winrates are so abysmal because people just spit the dummy out and DC all the time when the game has barely started!

He's not really that clunky on console. I think he plays pretty well on Xbox series X.
-
This auto trigger deadhard hack feels like it's rampant in the game at the moment. I come up against so many survivors that appear to have god like timing when using deadhard.
I just think the reworked perk is so badly designed from the viewpoint that it can be so easily masked when using a hack that it's virtually impossible to tell if it's scripted or not, unless you do one of the pallet lunges if you suspect it & even then it's still not sold evidence of hacking.
Old deadhard was so easy to bait out, especially in open areas. I just don't buy it that all these people who use deadhard have suddenly become gods at timing the new deadhard when it's supposed to be an inferior version of the perk.
-
Yeah I noticed this a few days ago when I was in a basement. The gen noise was all over the place as I was changing my camera angle. Like it would go from sounding as it should (very loud) to very muffled like it was behind a wall or far away.
-
I've played killer significantly more in the past (only like 3-4 killers away from having all killers 3+ prestige), but in the last few months I've been playing survivor almost exclusively. Partly because I want to get better & mainly because I find it much more chilled than playing killer these days. I guess I'll finish off all the tier 3 killer perk unlocks and then focus on unlocking all the survivor perks at tier 3.
Survivor also feels more rewarding when you make good plays when in chase & looping.
-
I mean people are toxic enough in chat imagine having to listen to some clown throw a hissy fit every other game because you weren't playing to their imaginary standard.
-
The main problem is that of you want to run a high sensitivity for movement it makes the flashlight significantly harder to aim & make micro adjustments. They really should have a separate slider sensitivity for all aiming on both killer & survivor on console.
-
@danielmaster87 said:
I'd at least like to get the benefit of it as killer if it's happening to me as survivor. Too many times where my weapon is through the pallet touching the survivor, and they just don't get hit as they warp back into the pallet drop animation.
Yeah I love the warping survivor as I'm half way through a lunge attack and they rubber band at light speed back to the pallet stun.
Last night I actually got stunned on the survivor side of the pallet & I still didn't even get the hit! How is that even possible lol
-
Bully squads are pretty much the reason why most killers don't give any respect to solo queuing survivors.
I quite often run starstruck builds, because it's pretty easy to snowball average SWF bully squads with that kind of build. Depending on how toxic they've been during the game I might just let them bleed out for the sake of it.
I play much more survivor these days than killer, due to the fact that it's significantly less frustrating & less stressful.
People should really play both survivor & killer to the extent that the experience multiple bad games with toxic gameplay from either side. You soon learn to appreciate first hand that being bullied or mocked is just bad for the game & it will make you a more respectful player.
-
Sounds decent might give it a bash. I quite often make it to the end so I reckon I could definitely benefit from it.
I'm having some success with overcome & lucky break combo just now. My chase escape rate has increased drastically with that combo. Definitely think sole survivor could fit into that build, as I often make it to the end without even being hooked, but I would say I'm like 50/50 with the exit gates.
-
I'm not a huge fan of iridescent add-ons to be honest. It's not uncommon to go like 4-5 games in a row and face killers using either double iridescent or a mixture of iridescent & purple add-ons.
I know they're a rarity, but I see significantly more killers using iridescent add-ons than my fellow survivor team mates when I'm playing solo queue.
Balance wise I think brown to green is optimal & still allows for quirky builds.
-
I'm significantly better at killer than survivor, but have been playing survivor a lot more recently just because I want to get better and it's more chilled. I'm probably a lot higher MMR on killer, but I do get significantly more skilled teams when playing killer and I'm quite often in very bad solo teams that can't even finish a gen even if I'm like the first person in chase and I might keep the killer occupied for a good 60-70 seconds. I often get left on the hook to go to second stage (which is my pet hate) or have people just suicide on hooks after 1 min in the game. Another favourite seems to be 3 players just trading unsafe hooks with camping killers and before you know it you've soloed like 3 gens, but it's pointless because everyone is on deathhook.
I would say you probably get like 1 good game out of 8-10 it's pretty frustrating.
-
It's not even just survivors doing it. Seen plenty of suspect killer gameplay lately with people just knowing exactly where you're at all times when they aren't even running any tracking perks or having unnatural movement speed and ending chases very fast.
I guess because it's so common now and it's constantly being discussed on the forums and by popular streamers it's probably encouraging more players to try out these hacks, especially when people just seem to be getting away with it.
