  • I only have the pitch black in the yamaoka main building.
I love lights out, I have the most chill time there as killer.

I was telling you Distortion was an overtuned perk. One perk to counter every aura reading perk just because 3-4 were strong. The fact you could block 3 instances of aura reading while being able to easily get back stats because being in a terror radius isnt hard made it too much.

Agree to disagree, because I have a completely different opinion. It was always fair for me and needed to be that way because of how much aura reading this game has.

  • I don’t get what killers should have against this gamemode. I won most times with dried and doctor. I struggled a bit with nemesis, but there I played really bad. Overall my killer experience was great and very relaxing and as survivor it was one time good one time bad.

Lets see what distorion can do…. hide aura AND tell you literally what perks/addons the killer has. I'd say thats already a very good effect. People always seem to gloss over that fact.

What exactly do you want to tell me with that? Distortion was always a fair perk and not unlimited (only recharges a tiny bit too fast).

I hope they add the aura is shown status effect from 2 vs 8 in normal mode, because dying by nowhere to hide is unfair, when you don‘t know the killer saw you sitting in the corner.

Another thing everyone seems to forget, distortion was the thing that kept aura reading in a fair and not super annoying spot. After this nerf aura reading pick rate will rise and then it has a too high pick rate and all of a sudden behavior gutts every aura perk. This is just how behavior handles things and we all now that.

  • The whole point of flashbangs is that you can blind killers while they are looking at walls.

  • @francesinhalover said:

They made distortion useless lol (outside of countering lethal pursuer)

Better just use off the record now.

Shadow step is better against auras now, which is a bad joke to be honest

Lightborn should only work once then you essentially have a dead perk slot.

Like distortion now?! The funny thing is even shadow step is better than distortion now and this perk is trash.

Lightborn should only make blinding take 100% longer and get shadowborn incorporated.

    What do you mean ?

I don't think you know how the mmr system even works based on this post. if you were high mmr you wouldn't be saying what you're saying.

I did never say I‘m in high mmr, but I said you aren‘t, because you don’t get killers who you can run for 5 gens in high mmr. People who come up with you are bad first, usually have no arguments. I‘m special, there is probably no one in the community with my mindset. Everything here are only opinions, wether something is right only depends on the perspective and how you see things.

  • @RoastedGarlic said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3799376#Comment_3799376

Just because you can't doesn't mean everyone else can't. The killer only needs to be bad if you're not very good.

I‘m not bad I always get the most sweaty killers, where it is simply not possible and if you want to play the game of assumptions then you are probably not in a high mmr.

there is only one map where i would agree with you and that is haddonfield, every other map you can absolutely run 5 gen chases.

Not really almost all the new/rewoked ones suck now. You can only get long chases there if the killer is really bad. Also rancid abattoir got gutted and there are a lot of other bad maps. Soon badham will get gutted and then next ones. Midwich got also made worse for survivors.

  • @merri1400 said:

Please just let yellow mori be removed as an offering and the others the same, we don't need to make mori's more rare. People will play dirtier to make sure they get to see them and the fun ones that people like seeing and being a part of like Ghostface's will barely happen or no one will be able to meme about it.

    100% my thoughts

maps are a whole other topic. I don't disagree that they need improvement. But to say you can't have long chases anymore is asinine. You absolutely can still have long chases they happen regularly enough that i would say your wrong overall.

On the newer/reworked maps I would say no overall (exception nostromo and singularity map). The old maps, that didn‘t get changed the last 2 years, are decent, but I‘m not talking about those.

it is obvious bhvr has been moving towards a more chase oriented gameplay. Hide and seek does not fit into that.

I do want them to do gens, I also want them to go for saves and take chases and do their part. Just because behaviour says you can play selfish doesn't mean you should I feel like that is lost on the majority of players. We all agree that playing survivor is a miserable experience, and those selfish players are at the forefront of why that is.

The only thing I disagree is that distortion plays a big part in this.

About behavior moving to more chase oriented gameplay. Disagree, they constantly nerf all maps into trash for survivors, so you can‘t have longer chases anymore. Edit: They encourage hiding from the killer by making looping/chasing a bad choice and now that is gone too, so you are only a meatball to play with for killers.

  • @RoastedGarlic said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3799337#Comment_3799337

recharging by doing gens means they do not even need to be near the killer, which makes it even more of a potential rat perk.

I thought you wanted survivors not to sit in the corner and doing gens. I have no idea what exactly you want, I thought with „ratting“ you meant doing nothing and I gave ideas how to make it a lot weaker and tried to solve your „ratting“ problem.

The third and first idea would be my preferred changes.

Other people shouldn‘t decide wether you play stealth or chase oriented in my opinion.

  • @RoastedGarlic said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3799309#Comment_3799309

the whole reason it is being changed is to make people take chases and stop hiding so your missing the entire point of the nerf.

I‘m trying to make a fair perk change, that keeps it viable. The new change will delete it basically and there is a reason why people play it so I try to keep that in mind. The changes I suggested would do exactly that and make it a lot less efficient.

  • @RoastedGarlic said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3799290#Comment_3799290

okay how would you change it then? because I think the changes are overall healthy for the game.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3799296#Comment_3799296

I agree with the first part, they will rat no matter what. I disagree with you saying full aura builds don't know how to track survivors.

    • Make it’s duration 7s - This makes distortion consume 2 tokens when somebody brings perks that are longer than 7s or when lethal makes it longer
    • Recharge by doing gens - The point of the perk is to not get found, it recharging in chase makes therefore no sense. This would also discourage „rating“
    • Slower recharge by 5-10s
    • It no longer hides scratch marks - It is an aura hiding perk not a scratch mark hiding perk

I would do 1-2 of them and it would be fine

What about me who takes chase perks like Scene Partner? It has the same effect as Distortion because killers refuse to chase me. Are chase perks next on the block because it's not fair to survivors who don't run chase perks?

That‘s a funny comment and I‘m waiting for someone to respond to it.

  • @TripleStryke said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3799286#Comment_3799286

I think there's a way to make it not too strong. If it was only active when you placed it down especially. The thing about slower token recharge is that it kind just makes her struggle to catch up to survivors instead.

Shure you could make it work, but I would have to play against it to know how much of an impact it has.

Edit: I don‘t like the idea of it acting like a shield, there should be some skill involved like with lightburn you have to at least aim at the killer.

Currently nurse catches up too easy in my opinion. You dodge her and she right behind you again. So like half an second for each token wouldn’t change much.

I like playing against her, so I don‘t want something that removes her from the game and I‘m happy that you didn‘t suggest a rework.

  • @RoastedGarlic said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3799267#Comment_3799267

they can still tell you because they perk will deactivate if they have them. Then all they need to do is get into a chase and it reactivates. This nerf only effects people who refuse to take chase at all. It doesn't effect people who take chases in the match. New distortion is a chase perk as it shuts down aura reading during the chase. Perks like I'm all ears for example will now be less effective, huntresses glow hatchets etc.

We will see, but they shouldn‘t remove the tokens it had even tho I think there would have been better changes

  • The lantern would be too strong against her, I suggest making her token recharge a bit slower and/or light burn

  • I want light burn as mechanic back, it was cool and gave behavior a nice way of nerfing strong killers without nerfing them hard.

  • @RoastedGarlic said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3799244#Comment_3799244

if you think it is so useless than why do you care so much that it is being nerfed?

Because my friends play it ALL THE TIME and they will probably stop playing because of the nerf. It‘s already hard to convince them. They need it because they are bad at chasing and they are not playing like „rats“ (no idea who said that but it’s fitting).

Another thing I mention in other posts is what distortion does to the pick rate of aura perks. It decreases it by a lot, at least it discourages me to use aura perks as killer. I hate not knowing when my auras is shown and getting hit or found because of that. My friends always tell me what aura perks the killer has which makes it okey.

Another thing is maps which is not what I want discus here, but I dislike the combination with this change. Maps are designed weaker and weaker with each update and now getting found more and more plays into this bad design.

Edit: It will probably make soloq a running simulator from unhook to unhook now. At least autodidact will be useful.

DBD players are so punitive. I’ve never seen anything like it in any other gaming community. DBD players think “if I’m not having fun, no one should be.” And galvanize behind radical changes to make each other miserable. It’s bizarre to me. Most of the complaints about Distortion appears to come from the survivor side, which is even more bewildering. I believe if a person wants that much control over their matches as survivor, they should join or form a SWF. That eliminates most of the variability they’ll have in their matches and nothing has to happen to people who enjoy playing in a different way.

I agree. Funny enough tho „Most of the complaints about Distortion appears to come from the survivor side“. After killers found out complaining wasn‘t enough they switched strategies and said it was for survivors. This gets supported even more by the fact that they adopted the chase recharge killers wanted. The only fair changes would‘ve been slower recharge, shorter duration, scratch mark hiding removed or it getting tokens by repairing gens. Recharging it in chase kills the perk in its main use, that would be not getting found.

  • @RoastedGarlic said:

so everyone who doesn't run distortion should now take your share of the chases?

Didn‘t you read or are you not able to. I‘m not playing distortion!!!!!

People who’d like to chase more can take them and I do that. I like chases. You should not be forced to play like others want, when you wanna play stealthy you should be able to do so. The funny thing is Idon‘t need distortion for stealth. Playing smart is effective enough ;)

  • You are so naive. Now aura perks will become meta and soon a problem. Then they will get gutted.

Not even a Survivor main, but I can recognize garbage design.

If someone kicked you in the nuts, would you want them to have a good time? Probably not. That's the digital equivalent of what a Skull Merchant pick has been doing to 4 Survivor victims every match. It doesn't matter if it is spite, because it is against someone who was more spiteful to begin with.

SM still has 90% uptime stealth with 0 sound cues, which is still far too powerful. Give her sound cues like every other stealth Killer (Myers/Ghosty/Dredge/Freddy/Onryo/etc.) and she'd be fine here.

Haste was allegedly too powerful for Survivors to have at 3% (although I liked going against it as Ghosty because Sprint Burst was more powerful than MfT against my playstyle), yet she got that and even more. Deleting Haste or reverting MfT would be fine here, although I'm sure most Killers don't want MfT back (again, I liked it as a Killer, because SB was my counter, and this made less people bring SB).

Her 10% Hindered lasts 6s without add-ons (for 60% total), yet Clown's 15% lasts Cloud+2s (for roughly 3s or 45%), and Freddy's 15% lasts similar duration (3s for 45%). 5% for 6s keeps it at 30% total, which is good here given that she has multiple facets to her power that Clown and Freddy can't claim nearly the same level of.

Her traps reset themselves, which can't happen for Hag, and can only happen with an Iridescent add-on for Trapper. Don't auto-reset traps, force a physical reset, then she'd be fine here.

So to recap, she has better stealth than Myers and Ghostface, better Hindered than Clown and Freddy, Haste in excess of MfT, an Iridescent add-on basekitted, and that still isn't even including her bugged add-on(s?) causing triple scans without a delay (when there is supposed to be a 3s delay between each scan). So even if we were to pretend spite wasn't in the equation, she was deserving nerfs in all of these categories for being better at all comparable powers/perks AND stacking all of them. The funny thing is, the Haste and Hindered facets are actually the correct decision to be made here. She still needs sound cues in stealth, and her traps to not auto-reset (without an add-on), then she would actually be fine (if they also fixed the bugged add-on triple stacking on 1 scan).

If we were to accept this delusional statement, then that would simply mean killrates must be at 65%-75% and needing to be dropped is all.

Then again we are getting massive nerfs to Distortion, massive buffs to Zenshin and Deathbound and Crowd Control, so this statement clearly wasn't based in reality. Pyramid Head and Artist will probably run Zenshin every match, and Deathbound was good before, and now its going to be great. I guess 4-slowdown Killers didn't get anything, but that's fine, since they got Pop/PR/Deadlock/Grim all nerfed for the rest of us. So I'd be glad if 4-slowdown Killers never get catered to again if they get my PR nerfed anymore.

I literally agree with every word written here. Great comment.

I think that has to be the worst "benefit" someone suggested me, I assure you, you probably dont even have any impact on any of my games like ever, we probably never met in dbd. So unless your strategy is a major group of players which I don't see how that would make a difference anyway as one aura reading perk is more than enough, it would not even do a DROP positive or negative for me.

No aura perks wont be more annoying, cause people who use distortion to hide from it, wont force the Killer on us instead.

I‘m not playing distortion. I only wanted to tell you what it does to aura reading prick rate and it is definitely a huge factor there. Also soloq will be even worse when your teammates go down even faster, BUT maybe they will improve now.

You know what would be funny 😄, when distortion users now use boon shadow step. I would laugh out so loud

  • @Emeal said:

Honestly Distortion has been a slap in the face of all players not running it themselves, you know what it means? it means the Killer will always target me instead of you cause all the aura perks they have will target me and I know damn well that while there might be some noble apples who use distortion and who take aggro, the rest of the distortion users are very much able to just let me get killed no questions asked.

    The perk has to go.

Agree and disagree. You also benefited from people running it. The only thing stopping me from equipping many aura perks is distortion and it’s high pick rate. Now aura perks will be even more annoying.

Except you're doing head-cannon math, combined with unironically relying on that garbage kill rate stat which doesn't actually tell you anything.

It does tell a lot and saying otherwise is delusional. Killers always say this game does favor survivors so hard when it is clearly otherwise and with dcs this kill rate would be lot higher.

I would wish killers would have the same win rate for once that survivors have, because then they would probably not invent new ways of twisting math like I‘ve seen it on the forums.

that is her power. her power is… was small amount of haste for long time. it wasn't anything crazy but it was enough for a lot of player to d/c.

Her power should be her drones and not Haste or undetectable. Also she is far to brain dead to play, you have to do almost nothing to get value. Just press one button and the loop is unsafe. Repeat that until half the map is covered with drones. The haste is too much, but they did nerf her other parts too hard. The haste is not even small, she gets up to 7%, which is ridiculous

Like I have been saying since patch 6.1,its only going to get worse for survivors, especially solo survivors.

    You are wasting your time.

You are probably right, dbd is a lost case when it comes to balance, especially when people call something balance like 60% winrate for one side (which is 20% higher than on the other side). Balance would mean both sides have the same chances to win, but in this forum it only means killers have to have it easy.

oh wow "badham is fair" summarizes this reply, the only thing that makes sense is temple. yes it's more towards to the weaker side of maps but still not as bad as badham or haddonfield.

idk if or how midwich is weaker, did classroom loops become weaker? because as far as i know they just added clutter (and a few pallets) to the hallways and removed the breakable walls in the bathrooms. it is killer sided but i didn't include it because you were talking about devs' new map design philosophy. this makes the number of killer sided maps 3.

3 gen is an issue, but i don't think maps should be balanced around faulty gen spawns, they should instead fix the spawns. "this map is okay to have insane strong loops because it spawns 3 gens" isn't the right way to think. also you forgot disturbed ward and dds, the worst offenders when it comes to 3 gens.

gideon and rpd can be either sided if killer knows how to abuse them. gideon needs a killer that can deal with pallets or that can hold a 3 gen, and on rpd you need a terrible hook spawn and abuse it by camping (or again, hold a 3 gen). but neither hook or gen spawns should be taken into consideration when balancing the map, they should be fixed no matter what and then map should be balanced.

i really don't know how to (or want to) reply to your other points. badham is fair and garden is nothing without main are… opinions.

Yes the midwich class room loops got weaker and now you can lunge around even more pallets. The clutter nerfed survivors on that map by a lot.

I agree they should fix 3 gens, but many factors play into this like small size for example and not just place them somewhere else. I don’t think they should make 3 gens as „balance“ as well.

this makes the number of killer sided maps 3.

No maps should be killer sided at all. Maps are basically the basekit of survivors, therefore they have to lean to survivors. Killers can always do something against maps and get buffs, survivors not. They don‘t have anything equivalent to bambuzle… or powers

Honestly most killers when it comes to maps expect a free down from every loop. I‘d wish we would get old maps with good, strong (not infinites) and interesting loops back while killers get good/strong powers and something to slow games down. I don‘t think survivor sided maps are the problem. More that some killers just need buffs. I liked old dbd a lot more where everyone had strong stuff and where it was fun because of that. Now it‘s going a really boring and killers always have to have it easy way.

  • Sadly a bad change in the wrong direction. I‘d rather see them reduce its current duration and leave it as it is

Yeah exactly and then those are the next gutted perks, I rather have a strong and reliable counter and strong aura read. Edit: There are so many ways to reliable nerf it, but they chose the worst one. The best one would have been reducing it‘s duration to 7-8s

    8. Don’t fast vault
    9. Don’t touch totems
    10. Don’t unhook other survivors

Can you guys help and add more simple counters to aura reading? I want to make a simple, definitive list for new players.

You forgot to not go near lockers😉

  • @Nazzzak said:

I don't mind if they want to change it. I very rarely use it as is unless it's handy for a challenge. But resetting during a chase makes it redundant. So, in order for someone to avoid being found by a killer's aura read they have to go and find the killer instead? Lol

The thing is I don‘t even use it, because I see it as a wasted perk slot, but as a killer main I know distortion is the only thing, that stops me from using many aura perks. Nerfing distortion will lead to more aura perks being played and aura perks are often really unfair/frustrating/annoying, especially when you don‘t know the killer has one.

I predict that aura perks will become a problem soon and the number one complain behavior will see.

what are those mythical awfully weak maps besides haddonfield and rancid abattoir? it's very bold to say this kind of stuff when majority of maps are balanced/survivor sided and we have eyrie/badham/gideon/garden etc i'm ngl.

Temple of purgation, both Borgo, those you mention, garden of joy is terrible outside of main (I‘m not arguing about main!), the comdwind map with only shack, cinema map, midwich is worse now, which already was a good map for killers. Those are the ones from the top of my head. The other three maps (Gideon, Erie, Badham) are fair in my opinion. Gideon is also more killer sided if you know how to play there, but most people don‘t. Badham is a map I really enjoy to play on as killer to be honest. Erie sometimes is really annoying, especially when playing killers without tp, because you can see them over the whole map.

The overall new map design philosophy is so off right now. Windows and pallets where you can’t loop and where the killer gets a hit regardless how he plays (if he isn‘t a complete noob). There are no long walls, which give the killer too many short cuts and make it to easy to catch up. Maps are too small, which make them besides the obvious not very good looking and that hurts boons/hexes/pig. Some maps have nothing to work with. Terrible gen placement (cinema map). They remove gras and bushes you could hide in (hurts both sides). Useless edge map pallets.

I‘m overall talking above about the newer maps and what behavior does when reworking older ones. The older are fine. I actually think Hawkins is a decent map, which many say it favors killers very much.

I really hoped Behavior would just buff the weaker killers instead of making maps trash, bad looking and tiny and they should also fix the gen rush problem, which gets worse since survivors have to gen rush to even have a chance at winning.

A slap in the face for survivors who can’t learn to chase on most tiles so they go down in 10 seconds and so they stay on the edges of the map waiting for everyone else to die for a 50/50 shot at Shack Hatch?

This is so wrong, because the devs make all loops terrible and overall favor killer in map design. So in that aspect survivors just adept to bad game design and all of a sudden the survivors are the ones who refuse to learn huh. When someone refuses to learn the game then it‘s killers, because they get completely everything into their favor when it comes to maps, instead of getting better.
