  • Dude just apply pressure at the start of the match when every single pallet is up. It's so easy! Just immediately down a survivor and slug them when slugging, while applying pressure, doesn't get you hooks. Dude just walk across those massive maps and apply pressure on every killer easily. Dude just abandon the chase on an injured person when they'll do a gen injured while we pretend they'll SC in the corner. Dude just pressure the gens, get a hook, go into 5 chases at once and pressure the gens.

Youtube is something I boycott so have no idea about these people. But just play the game you can't do much about what they do with their game. It is their problem.

    You...boycott youtube? Lmao

  • Despite all the people saying they don't want to learn her or practice her, the fact is even if you did you would still have a really hard time against decent survivors due to her changes. She was over nerfed and now people will happily just tell you to "git gud" and that "good Nurse's still absolutely demolish" because everyone is more than happy to never see her again so they'll tell you lies like that.

  • If you're not going to show the MMR of the players after the match is over, then it is no different than simply hiding ranks. It isn't exactly going to be easy for you to determine skill in this game due to so many factors influencing it, and if we go off how you measure skill based on emblems and pips I can safely say I already have a severe lack of optimism for this.

Games that have this type of system generally have "leagues" so you can compare your skill relative to others and know what you're up against, or they show you your MMR. Masking everything isn't going to do a lot, and even then it won't change the fact that, factoring in MMR, ping and skill of other people in the match, the game will still create unfair games like it does now - you just won't see it.

I suppose we'll see how it turns out, though it doesn't really make a difference to me

  • It's probably going to be much more simple than you're thinking lol

  • I'm sure this will do wonders for me when I play against countless SWF survivors of my skill level and watch generators disappear. Guess we can just keep making changes to the game while continuing to not acknowledge the elephant in the room.

Certainly will be nice for me playing survivor, though.

  • I don't have a problem with Doctor and have fun playing against him. So, I don't not think it?

And for the record, as a survivor you're not supposed to "have fun" against every killer, otherwise no killer would ever have fun.

So you're telling me that a really small boost or dash that let's you get a little bit of distance so that you can get to a window or a pallet is op? Gtfo self-care is op, dead hard is not a big deal and at the moment it's bugged, don't know if it's because of dedicated servers but dead hard sometimes just won't work even after you get exhausted

If a survivor is at a loop and make a mistake they can use DH and not be punished for it. That's pretty BS. The fact you don't believe that, or gaining distance to a pallet or vault and not being downed isn't significant, in that it could buy that survivor another loop, or two, or who knows, in a game where the killer should have gotten that down? A game all about time management and pressure? And then 4 people have it? That isn't broken?

    "fair killers" should not exist...

You want the killers to grab a bag of chips and watch soccer with the survivors?

As opposed to what? Camping survivors or tunneling survivors? Is that fun for you? For them? Does that make you think you're good, does it help you improve? Being fair and fun for a lot of killers was trying to hook everyone 12 times. Generally speaking that is fun for everyone because everyone will walk away with a lot of points and pip, and it isn't unfun. I'm not going to pound gens if I know a killer plays like this. Killers can't really do that anymore because Ruin generally gave them the little boost to get pressure rolling. In fact killers who play like that now are more likely to play more unfair because they simply have to.

If you don't think that fair killers exist or you disagree with that then that's fine. There's nothing wrong with playing how you want to play or doing those things to win.But if your goal is to play unfairly, then you'll never improve and you're probably going to be stuck being a below average killer at best

  • If you're struggling to have fun I suggest you ask yourself what killer you're playing, what map you're playing, the skill of the survivors you're playing, and if you made any mistakes yourself. All of these things can result in you doing worse than you may have. Map is too big and you're not mobile. Map is Lery's as Huntress. Survivors are coordinated and likely SWF. You pushed a survivor the wrong way at a loop, you missed an attack you should've gotten. They used Unbreakable when you would've had them all down.

There's a lot of things that can make you feel better about the pressure you're under. The best way you can enjoy killer is to simply not care about anything. Play to have fun, try and enjoy the chases, don't care if you kill 0 people or 4.

Of course, the reality is if you have to go through that much effort, chances are there's still a bit of a problem, as when you play survivor I bet you don't think about any of that stuff. Maybe you realized you're playing against a good killer or a top tier kill and you disconnect because you aren't having fun.

It's not healthy because either ruin is completely useless against good survivors or it decimates bad survivors. DH usage is situational and you get to choose when to do it. Old ruin is just there.

Survivors have to practice various things to improve, such as how to properly run loops, when to make saves, flashlight saves, etc etc. Ruin literally just destroyed bad players and did nothing to good players. Such bad design for the health of the game. Glad it was changed to affect everyone equally regardless of skill.

You realize killers have to learn loops to know how to properly run and mindgame them too, right? They have to practice their own techniques, same as a survivor, if they want to be good killers as well.

DH is "just there" as a button you push to fix a mistake you made at a loop and instead of getting punished, you get out free. DS is "just there" BT is "just there" Unbreakable is "Just there" Adrenaline is "just there", all of which have massive impacts on the killer and the way they apply pressure or manage the time in the game.

I'll never understand how people can justify nerfing something because "Bad players were bad" All this time we tell the killers to just "git gud" and pretend it's fine for these survivors to just always be bad. Wow. Being punished for being bad? Find a totem, hit a skillcheck, or power through the bit of regression? It's all too much! Imagine expecting bad players to get better, or new players to improve. Instead we sit here and pretend every killer to use Ruin was a bad killer using a crutch perk. Total ignorance.

  • I think the devs are very incompetent when it comes to the bugs in their game and the length it takes to fix them. I think that throughout the years playing this game they have made double the amount of bad decisions than they have good ones. I appreciate that they do their best, always release new content, but I do not like how out of touch they sometimes are in regards to their playerbase. I wish they didn't take so long to change things in their game, I wish that the majority of perks weren't garbage, I wish they'd stop releasing massive maps, or indoor maps. Clearly they care a lot about the game and the players, but it's easy to miss when there is always something in the game to be frustrated about.

  • @Mikeasaurus said:

While I respect your opinion, I have to disagree. Ruin didn't stop killers from being able to get kills or win. It's the fact that it became such a crutch for a vast majority that they can't seem to function straight without it. Now don't get me wrong, I know how useful Ruin was, but it was usually gone within the first minute, so there's no real difference. The new Ruin is actually good if survivors don't purge it instantly. Killers just need to start using newer tactics instead of just praying 4 survivors will just happily stroll around for 2 minutes searching for a Totem.

Your problem is you don't understand how valuable Ruin only even lasting 30-60 seconds could be. It was enough time for you to set up a bit, it was enough time to apply pressure, it could've been enough time to catch someone off and hook them. It was invaluable for fair killers to play fair. It's the complete opposite to a crutch for those killers, and a bad killer is still a bad killer with old Ruin.

The idea that killers just need to "get good" and "not use a crutch" or "apply new tactics" just shows you don't know as much about this game as you probably think.

  • No one is complaining about being toxic to someone who is toxic, it's being toxic in general with no reasoning, even to fair killers, which there are plenty of. It's being toxic in end-game chat.

You know, I often find people will say stuff like "Why wouldn't I tbag/click at a toxic killer" as a justification for them simply doing that all of the time. Ironically, as someone who always played fair, the people who tried to be toxic were the people who were the quickest to disconnect, probably because they figured they were "too good" to get mindgamed or something.

I never really cared if someone teabagged because I'm not 5 years old. I wasn't more likely to tunnel them, I wasn't more likely to get angry - I just thought they were morons. Same reason I don't care if a killer camps or tunnels me, it's just part of the game and I move on. You guys remind me of 15 year old me getting ridiculously angry someone killed and teabagged me in Halo, and now I just laugh at the thought of it because I'm an adult.

  • Sunken cost fallacy, stockholm syndrome maybe? Sorry, but even if you invested $5000 into a game and your reasoning for not leaving said game is because you devoted too much time and money into it, then you're simply addicted to something because you can't walk away from something you should be walking away from because you do not like or enjoy it any more.

I've played this game for 3 years. I no longer play it. My best friend no longer plays it. I would do my best to explain to any other friend, relative to when they start and when they would get to the higher ranks, why they should not play it and allow them to make their own decision. My reasoning would be not only gameplay but the devs associated with it.

For YEARS people who have played DBD have been waiting for a new game to come take its place. Every time a new game came out - F13, Last Year or whatever that game was a year back, everyone was so hype to leave it behind, especially streamers. But everyone still plays this game because there is no other game like it.

  • First, Huntress doesn't need nerfs when she is one of the two perfectly balanced killers.

Second, if you're in melee range to take a point blank hatchet hit, then get followed up by a melee, that's your own damn fault.

  • Probably because people are doing challenges. Some focus on hooks, some focus on gens, some focus on following the killer around to get a save, some are looking for totems.

It's also the weekend, so, yeah.

No. Hard disagree. Killer can’t just climb ranks by playing trash (or letting Ruin carry them). There were TONS of crutch Ruin users that have ZERO concept of gen pressure, and only managed to climb/pip purely because the totem was never found (or not found until late game). These are the kind of killers the OP are talking about.

    Let's take this guy.

Insisting DS and BT are overpowered and need nerfing. Well, how are you affected by either of those perks, unless you're camping and tunnelling? So yeah, completely situational and there to punish trash killers.

Right, but the Ruin change still affects plenty of great killers that used it. Did it go the extra mile for bad players? Sure, especially outside of red ranks. But inside of red ranks Ruin was anything but a crutch, and it only really affected the large amount of potatoe red rank survivors. Like, even the best of the best Huntress' used Ruin, so were they bad killers? Or is there more to that? Even the best Trapper's, or the best Hag's, or M1 killers used it, yet people on these forums would have us just believe it was only bad players who used it.

Uh, surely you must be joking, right? DS and BT only affect people who tunnel? DS and BT punish good killers who play fair. Here's just one quick situation for you

Survivor unhooks other survivor before you can walk away - the smart thing is to punish the survivors by going after the greedy unhook, but you can't, because BT. So, you go after the person who unhooked, and since they saved and may have taken a hit, they'll likely go down relatively quickly. Here's where things can get tricky. The person who has DS could run in and save the person that unhooked them, that you just downed quickly and hooked, to give them BT, and they will get downed. This means the killer cannot chase the person with BT because they have DS, but they also cannot pick the person who just saved up because THEY have DS.

There are a ton of situations where DS and BT are not anything to do with tunneling, and the idea that you only thing that situations involving them are fair because it only happens with them show you don't play this game very much. If you think DS is only anti-tunneling and not a complete immunity for 60 seconds, then I don't really know what to tell you. BT, I don't have much of a problem with, though.

And Dead Hard is a total BS perk because if the survivor makes a mistake at a loop, instead of getting punished they hit DH and make the pallet anyway. That's extra time at a loop in a game. DS, BT, DH, Unbreakable, these perks all waste the killers time in a game that you cannot afford to have your time wasted.

  • Seems like people severely underestimate how much of a difference not having Ruin and having 3 survivors all stuck to their gens at the start of the match and the progress placed on them can make in a game all about time management.

It's absolutely astounding how many people take for granted 30-60 seconds of possible gen regression + a survivor possibly looking for Ruin. Really shows how little some of you understand about the game. Sorry, how many of you don't understand the impact and importance of old Ruin and how not having it affects the game.

Evidently every match now is "Just the same as before because Ruin just got destroyed in a minute before" when you're so ridiculously ignorant and wrong lol. Please, it's not hard to get a general understanding of fundamentals.

  • Yeah, the select few killers who can actually make use of it are totally overlooking it. It's almost like you need to be a high mobile killer to take advantage of it because if you can't both APPLY pressure and END CHASES quickly, it is irrelevant

Most people just understand what some people dont apparently

  • So you're saying the flaw in the ranking system and the fact that a lot of games has potatoes justifies how horrible and frustrating a ton of games are against decent survivors?

    k

  • gr8 b8 m8 i r8 8/8

You really had me until that "killers are overpowered" line

  • Here's another scenario: 4 survivors are spread out and doing gens, 1 survivor gets put into a chase. This survivor currently has every pallet up at the start of the match, therefore if they are decent they can loop the killer for a total of 3 gens before they are hooked. You applied pressure to 1 survivor and, to no fault of your own, lost 3 gens because of it. This is amplified worse due to the size of maps and the inability for the majority of killers to traverse it quickly enough to apply pressure.

Obviously, you could be in said chase and injure this person, then see another person on a gen and initiate a chase with them. However, while that's normally 2 survivors doing nothing, that's still 2 gens that will be done, and it will still be a third if the previously injured survivor does not heal and goes onto the gen that the previous survivor was on. In my experience, survivors these days happily forgo healing in favor of doing a gen.

You would imagine that survivors staying injured would be a benefit, but the reality is due to how long it takes to kill a survivor, specifically if you're playing fair, the downside of being injured is not punishing enough to not pound gens injured. Especially when you add in survivor perks.

Do you think that losing so many gens so quickly is a good thing for the health of the game, or should gens progress at a more steady rate? Do you think that you can just say "Just apply pressure" as if we're all not aware of how to do this, and still lose gens at a rate that is generally unacceptable? I'm sorry but a lot of these arguments lack a severe understanding of how many games at red ranks work.

I suppose in the end it's my fault for thinking that as any killer I should be able to get hook after hook, apply insane amounts of pressure, and still be lucky to get more than 1 kill sometimes. Maybe I just need to play more like a scumbag because no amount of pressure would help me these days if I want to play that way, specifically as lower tier killers and even moreso on large maps.

  • It's out of control because people are doing challenges and if they can't get their challenge done, they get it done, or whatever other reason, they just leave and there's no punishment.

But all you'll find on these forums is people making excuses to justify not punishing people for disconnecting. They'll have you believe they crash every second game. The only problem with it currently is the thing where the match starts and the game just ends, which punished everyone with a leaver penalty as far as legit concerns are.

  • Because only a god tier Nurse can do really well with her, that's why. She gets punished far too hard for not perfectly hitting every blink. Guess what? There are so many things that mess with your blinks, terrain wise, that it's already difficult.

So when you add how hard you're punished for missing blinks into survivors who maintain distance and constantly break LoS, you will have far too extended chases. She can't even traverse the map as quickly, when she's already super slow.

She's absolute garbage against good survivors at her stats at red ranks show it, yet everyone here will lead you to believe they were all just trash Nurse's, when the reality is the effort you put into her is no longer paid off. Can I destroy survivors on her? Yeah, I can destroy survivors I probably would have destroyed on any killer, just a little bit faster.

  • Any map that has walls is a bad map. It favors some killers while they generally hinder the vast majority of them. It's not really fun having your LoS be constantly blocked. It's also very difficult to find gens or loop because a lot of survivors aren't familiar with such maps.

The map is also insanely large and you, again, have to move through a lot of different areas to get from one side to the other. The map looks amazing, but from a gameplay standpoint it's just as meh as it was before.

  • Pip = Fun

    Pip = Reward!

    Me pip, me have fun!

  • I don't really feel like I've outplayed a killer of equal skill ever, because in that situation it's all just down to a mindgame, which has no relevance to skill

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

I play Huntress regularly and have never had an issue on these maps. In fact, Ormond is one of my favorite killer maps.

"LOOOOOOL" all you want, it doesn't counter my point at all.

He doesn't really have to counter any points you're making because they're all just opinions that are subjective. There are people who will disconnect on Ormond over Haddonfield these days because of how bad it is and how connected every single tile is. Whether or not you think it's an awesome map you love is equally irrelevant from a balance standpoin, since you're most assuredly wrong

  • I'm sure people would rather sit around making excuses for why we can't punish people for disconnecting with zero downside and making the game be ruined for 4 other people.

  • This is what happens when you have a dev team that's too obsessed with statistics. They can only see balance in black and white, when balance is not black and white. Although, in this situation, they evidently see balance in what is fun, which is both a good thing and, clearly, a bad. You cannot nerf something that 80% of killers use at red ranks and not even question the reason as to why, and when you explain your reasoning, there is very little understanding that people have complained about.

Killers probably hated Ruin and having to run it at red ranks more than anyone - they wanted a solution to something and instead had a situation made worse. Do you have any idea how frustrating it must be that almost every killer that plays this game will, in some shape or form. tell you that this is a terrible changed? And if they don't they will tell you it is a terrible change IF they do not follow it up with other changes, none of which have been acknowledged? I guess you can't understand if you don't play a red rank killer.

  • I had some matches where I won without Ruin. Ruin balanced. I had matches with Clown and got 3 4ks in a row. Clown OP.

    See what I did there?

  • It's almost like not having Ruin or the killer you play doesn't matter when you play potatoes and you ,yourself, are half decent. :)

  • I finally managed to go from rank 16, to rank 15. So glad for this Ruin nerf! Having to hit a Greater skillecheck, powering through it or even cleansing the Hex totem, several ways you can deal with a perk, was just too many ways tbh.

Like, why should a killer be rewarded so heavily for a perk that gets destroyed so quickly most of the time? It's such an amazing, PASSIVE perk! It isn't like there aren't countless survivor perks that are passive and allow you to do things that are total BS passively and with 0 effort xD

I think killers should just be happy that they have this new Ruin, which is so insidious that there's no way you'd even recognize the killer has it, or how good of an end game perk it is because of it! How can we stop this new, overpowered Doc rework from 3 genning? I can never find the totem and I'll always be pushed off the gen, so tbh it might be a little TOO strong!

  • I'm sorry but I don't accept poor decision making and game balance. NOED and Blood Warden? Really? Who cares about a game when it gets to that point in the game? The game is over and you're going to focus a build when it is? Not to be rude but I think if you use both of those and think they're good then Ruin would never be able to carry you lol

  • How to have fun: Don't care about anything, even if you have fun. Thus, with 0 expectations you now are having fun! Killer is so fun now!

  • @TG_Cid_Orlandu said:

I want to think that getting rid of ruin will allow BHVR to change how generators work. I'm cautiously optimistic. But still mad because they talk to the community as killers were bots who are supposed to lose every game.

You say that when the reality is they still refuse to even acknowledge that there even MAY be a problem with the reasons killers, even great killers, used Ruin to begin with.

  • I'm not a manbaby and generally can understand how or why a killer has a bad match. So no, because again, not a manbaby. People who say GGEZ are the same survivors who, even after a good game where they die, will say things like "bg" or "you keep telling yourself that" Lol

  • Considering what you said your opinion is on Iri head I'm going to go ahead and say that you know absolutely nothing about Huntress.

She's slow, she has a lot of bad maps, it's difficult to play against good survivors and if they are good you can easily lose the game from 1 bad mistake or extended chase at a difficult loop.

She's not S tier, not even close. You sound like someone playing against bad players and you just picked Huntress up with perks that don't even benefit her lol what? I'm going to assume you're just trolling but I figured I'd write something out.

  • @Pennywise said:

Hillbilly is not balanced, he has a spammable one hit down map traversal power. Some people like to think Hillbilly is balanced because he has everything he needs to win the game, and he does but no other killer does at that level, so no, he isnt balanced at all.

Just look at the Oni compared to Hillbilly. The Oni is how the Hillbilly would have been designed had he been released recently, there is no way he would be as powerful as he is now and he is long overdue a rework.

It's almost like Billy becomes a boring M1 killer when you have survivors that play safe with pallets and also can properly loop. He also encourages you to play smart. I suppose someone would think he's busted if you're incapable of either of those two things and play like a lot of survivors do - just run into a dead zone and wonder why your 360 didn't work, or sit on a gen against a highly mobile killer as he runs up on you.

Hag is not top tier, she's definitely A, though.

Here's the thing, you can play Hag in three ways.

1 - You can setup a 3 gen. The downside to this is if the survivors are smart they will run around all over your setup map and pop your traps, especially if you're in a chase/down someone and such. This will completely eliminate all of your ability to catch survivors. This means you will either stomp or be stomped.

2 - You can play a more active playstyle, placing traps along as you walk forward, place traps in some appropriate areas, then enter chases. You can place traps in the chase and use it to get hits. This is less effective and gives you less ability to snowball because this style can both be difficult to get hits against a good survivor or if you place your trap even remotely off. Or the reality is while you can get a hit in a loop relatively well, it doesn't change the fact that it's going to take a decent amount of time to do it.

3 - You can down one person and set up all of your traps around the general area of traps and loops and use them as bait, which if the survivors group up will allow you to snowball.

Again, Hag if played well can do ridiculously well, however against SWF or really good survivors they will abuse your weaknesses and you will find yourself with people like me, telling you exactly how she is abused and not top tier.

  • 80% of matches have Ruin

    One patch later

80% of matches have Corrupt Intervention

Wow. It's almost like people rely on things because they're needed. Unless you think all of the people who play killer have never played games without Ruin against decent survivors, realized how terrible the game is without Ruin or a perk that slows the game down at the start, and went "Wow, this is awful!"

Any bets on Corrupt being hit next? Or is that being in 80% of games okay because it's not unfun? Lol

  • Rift 2

It's exactly like Rift 2, but it's got a 2 in the name!

  • There are several buildings that are simply not worth your time that are worth abandoning a chase over, which is a design flaw and still hasn't been addressed. Again, if you spend time being looped at a loop, get a hit, then the survivor runs to said building, you have effectively wasted ALL of your time.

And yes, on average if you run into a survivor that loops really well it might be best for you to abandon the chase, however if you abandon it and the next survivor is just as good, you're that other survivor will be on a gen and despite the pressure you have created, it's not really relevant pressure.

Having to abandon a chase due to a badly designed loop or building or a ridiculously strong wall into pallet loop is, again, a design flaw that exists in many situations and you should be abandoning that area. It's pretty stupid.

  • The thing is most of the things in this game that are meant to help against the things a killer may do, like camping or tunneling and having DS/BT, simply punish good killers who play fairly. The slower gens get completed the more likely a killer is to play fairly, and Ruin did that. Maybe it's just becoming more and more unreasonable for good killers who play fair and have fun by trying to go for 12 hooks to have that mentality.

I honestly don't buy the devs opinion on nerfing Ruin as being anything other than something for newer players while not caring about higher ranks, because now 80% of matches will simply be Corrupt Intervention, and I guarantee you they won't touch that, nor will they touch map sizes or do anything else.

  • It would be nice if they actually stopped feeling like it's absolutely necessary to release a killer/map, with perks and all of that every 3 months and instead focused on game health and, most certainly, current maps and map size. Instead they just spend 3 months to rework 1 killer and 1 map that they barely even change other than visually.

  • If there's one thing I think we can all agree on in just about any game we play, it's that being stunned and not being able to move is generally not fun. Head On is simply an annoying perk that doesn't really have a counter and can give you a free stun, outside of baiting it out. Even then due to dedicated servers your killer hitbox can easily be hit or even if you swing at them when they're out of the locker, you still eat a stun because of dedicated servers, too, in the same way a grab doesn't always give you a grab and they get away. So no, I wouldn't really say it's always "easily avoided" and I wouldn't call it fun for anyone but a survivor, which is par for the course these days :)

Does the perk in general bother me? Not really at all, no. No one complains about head on when there's DH/DS/BT

  • I mean this was the situation for killers for many, many months. Not that it's really acceptable for either side.

I'm sure it'll get better on Tuesday.

  • I don't see how it would be too difficult to make 20 challenges for several killers at a time and allow you to pick one of 3, or something like that. They're literally glorified dailies, you can change "catch x survivors in bear traps" with "hit x players with blink"

So it never has to come to this should they choose. And I'll take a bad person at Nurse because guess what? That would actually be challenging to someone who finds a killer challenging, not "kick x pallet as any killer"

  • yikes. Imagine being so ignorant to how wrong you are

  • Countless highly skilled, some of the best killers in the game all making videos about how this is a bad change or a bad change when it is not followed by any other changes. An overwhelmingly negative response regarding the changes by the entire community as a whole.

Evidently, nothing can change their mind since I suppose they know best.

1 2 3 4 … 7
