It can be really good. It helps with trapper and hag and such a lot as well.

It's not as useful in solo queue as one would hope though; most folks don't act on the information correctly even when it's given to them freely. I wouldn't call it "god tier" but it's a solid perk.

I definitely would because of the information it gives me. I’ve had plenty of matches where somebody would have reached struggle state if I wasn’t running it and went to get them. I just like that it allows me to keep the team alive for longer. It’s definitely annoying when people leave you on the hook though, it just doesn’t make sense. But that’s online gaming in a nutshell. People are crazy lol.

    I’m almost certain you can?....

If you’re running kindred, but the person hooked doesn’t, then the blue kindred icon doesn’t pop up near the perk icons... i think... doesn’t it?

Come to think of it, I think you’re right lol. I think it’s similar to when somebody is using We’ll Make It. I’ll double check the next time I’m playing. I’m almost certain that wasn’t the case when it first got changed. So maybe I just forgot they tweaked it.

  • I would love a Bloodweb rework. I don’t like how inconsistent it is with the perks you get. On some killers I can get PGTW on the first web, for others, it never seems to show up. Same thing goes for perks like Iron Will when I play survivor. It took me forever to get it on Ash and God love his soul, but he needs it lol.

The matchmaking is also random as hell. I’m a red rank survivor and I can get put with green ranks against a red rank killer which just isn’t a fun experience. Because the other survivors are out of their depth and I just can’t get any generators done as I’m constantly having to unhook and heal. On the flip side of this, when I play killer, where are these green ranks? I always seem to get the sweatiest 4-man squads who just want to try to flashlight / Head On stun me at every chance they get.

I swear this game is some sort of Twilight Zone lol.

I also love that Kindred can immediately tell you if the killer is running BBQ upon first hook, and get a HUGE heads up that they’re coming your way.

That’s one of my favourite things about it. I love seeing a Spirit or Hillbilly looking in my direction and pulling a Houdini.

The only thing I’d like to change, is knowing if somebody else is using Kindred. Because if the person on the hook has Kindred and I do too, I have no way of knowing that the rest of the team are also seeing what I’m seeing. If that makes sense?

Kindred really is one of the most underrated perks in the game , people claim a swf makes it useless but I beg to differ I think the information it gives makes it definitely worth a perk slot for those that aren't used to running it.

I used to play with a friend, but she got tired of the game and moved onto other things, but even when I played with her I would use it. It’s still incredibly useful being able to know exactly where everybody is and if the killer is near the hook.

My current build is Iron Will, Spine Chill, Kindred and BT. As I want perks that help me and my team. I was using We’ll Make It, but I’ve noticed more killers staying near the hook recently or teammates looping the killer at the hook, so I switched to BT.

    Kindred is my baby. 😇

  • I love this song.

  • I actually thought the same thing recently as I keep finding purple keys and I don’t use perks to help me to do so. I had one day where I found 4 purple keys.

  • Michael Myers, Demo, Deathslinger, Clown and Legion would be my top 5. I just have the most fun playing as those killers.

It seems pretty unanimous. Those of us who say it's too dark have a problem ONLY with the new autohaven maps and no other maps. It seems to be a contrast or black crush issue.

I'm not quite sure what this means but clearly from the posted tweets other people find it dark too.

There’s definitely something wrong. It’s not a case of people just whining for the sake of it. Like I said earlier in the thread, Midwich is a visually dark map and I have no complaints. Because it’s stylistically dark. The way Autohaven renders for me seems like a bug.

  • I still play, but definitely not as much as I did and also not as long. My main issue at the moment is the matchmaking. I’m currently rank 2 and I’m finding it a lot where I’m against a rank 1 killer and my teammates are all rank 10 or below and they just get slaughtered. It’s just no fun for me not being able to do anything because my teammates are constantly down / hooked and I’m the only one going for saves.

The upside is I’ve started making my way through some games I had on hold because DBD was distracting me lol. Currently playing Avengers and it’s actually really nice and peaceful playing a single player game lol.

  • That’s what I referenced earlier in the thread. It simply says ‘healing’ so I took that as healing yourself and not healing in general. It needs to either say ‘Healing yourself’ or ‘Healing yourself and others’ so it’s more clear. Because as it stands, it’s not.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1960275#Comment_1960275

I'm 90% sure, but if someone else has the notes they showed on stream I'd appreciate

If it does include healing others, then you’re completely right about a lot of DS users refusing to heal others. But, I have similar experiences already. I constantly find injured teammates who will refuse to let me heal them, just because they want to use their DS against a killer that isn’t even chasing them.

Instead of saving it for their second hook and actually being productive, they just jump in and out of lockers. It’s stupid how many people use DS just for the sake of it. Why is getting a 5 second stun on a killer who isn’t tunnelling you so important? I just don’t get it.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1960267#Comment_1960267

It means any kind of action you take. So healing yourself and others.

Has that been confirmed though or are you just assuming?

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/229045/i-can-see-new-ds-becoming-the-next-self-care

My issue with the new DS is that in solo Q if I need to be healed and I find someone with DS active, they wont want to heal me so they don't waste DS.

Where has it been stated that healing others deactivates DS? The description just says ‘healing’ - which I assume means healing yourself?

  • This actually isn’t a reportable or bannable offense. So I wouldn’t waste your time reporting the player. Just take the loss and move into a new lobby. It isn’t worth getting annoyed over. When this happens to me, I just chill on the hook and listen to music or something.

  • Isn’t that what most DS users do now though? I’ve seen a countless number of people that’ll force the DS after their first hook for literally no reason.

From my experience, it’s used extremely aggressively and just for the sake of it. I recently had a fully healed Dwight in my lobby who dived into a locker just to use DS. Last night I also had a Meg, again off first hook, who wouldn’t let me heal her because she wanted to chase after the killer so she could use DS.

Most DS users are insane lol.

  • So you’re going to ‘improve’ the solo queue experience by screwing over your fellow teammates and making their solo queue experience worse? Seems like a solid and well thought out plan. Good job.

  • @Alionis said:

I'm just about convinced this is something entirely unrelated to the game.

Pretty much for every complaint that map x is too dark, there is someone who'll say it's either too bright or just right.

I belong to the latter: never felt that any map was too dark. Quite the opposite actually, I think all new maps are too bright and I miss the darker maps from 2016.

I don’t see how it’s unrelated to the game when they’re the only maps that are rendered poorly for me...

  • I wish people would stop platform shaming. The problem isn’t with PS4, XBOX, Switch or PC. It’s with people in general. I’ve seen some horrendous messages left by PC players in the end game chat and I’ve also received vile messages over PS4. There’s good and bad eggs everywhere.

The reason you’re probably getting more abuse now is because you’re playing with more people. It’s not just because they’re on console. I’m on console and I’ve never sent abuse to anybody. And whenever I’m against a TTV killer, I go into their lobby to say GG. Regardless of whether I won or lost.

You’re not defined by the platform you play on. Period.

    YES

The 4 FPS nodding is like the best thing ever i love it.I always do it to greet other survivors or when someone failed a skill check.

I hope they never fix it because it's so damn funny

I hate that they removed the ‘shuffle-walk’ you could do as female survivors on console. It was hilarious. But, I’m glad we now have the nodding. It’s the little things like this that I enjoy because it’s nice being able to find some humour in a game like DBD.

While you may be able to "hide when it counts", I'm not talking about "hiding", I'm talking about camouflage. It's not how good you are about concealing all of yourself behind a LoS blocker, it is about you being able to be in LoS and still be unrecognizeable. Think about the Dead Dawg Saloon, and how survivors could just *become bush*. It even got patched, but it can still work to some extent.

I'm talking about outfits so dark that your eye more easily stops tracking them in chase when LoS blockers come around, or female characters having smaller frames that make them objectively harder to see when crouching behind objects. The Blendette is the best example of a mechanic that can quite honestly drastically affect the match. A few missed swings is the difference between a gen popping or not.

A P3 Claudette is definitely harder to hit on certain maps. But I feel this way about most survivors when they’re wearing darker clothing. Especially on the dreaded corn field maps. I once just crouched in a field as Detective Tapp and the killer practically brushed past me and still didn’t even realise I was crouched there. Some of the camouflage plays you can get are crazy lol.

Like I said earlier, I don’t really have a problem with it. A part from the occasional missed swing, but I find that can happen a lot on console anyway, so I’ve just gotten used to the game screwing me over.

  • Deathslinger is a hard killer to ‘bully’ because of how easy he can deny loops and drag people back before they reach pallets. Unfortunately, we live in a world where a lot of people would rather chase the killer around than actually do their objectives. This type of gameplay is harder to pull off against somebody like Deathslinger because of the reasons listed above. He just isn’t a ‘bully’ magnet in the slightest. But I think that’s a good thing. I personally love facing him as he actually makes me nervous and isn’t that what the killer should do?

For Pyramid Head, he’s similar to Deathslinger. He has the ability to down survivors through pallets and vaults, he also has the ability to pretend to do this and then simply get the M1. So he becomes somebody that’s trickier to loop. Also, because he has the ability to counter and straight up deny the use of DS, that annoys a lot of people because DS is their crutch perk that they HAVE to use every match. Again, like Deathslinger, I love facing him. Because I have to be really smart during chases and I think killers like him made me even better at the game.

  • Honestly, I have no issue with it. If people want to wear cosmetics that make them harder to see, than so be it. I can be extremely good at stealth, when I want to be. Heck, I was playing as Felix last night in his bright orange skiing outfit and I still didn’t get found all game. Because I know how to hide from the killer when it counts.

I’ve loaded into matches as killer before and seen an entire lobby of P3 Claudette’s and still managed to win. They sent me to Yamaoka and I was playing as Michael without Infectious Fright and I still managed to 4K.

They definitely had the advantage on that map of being able to camouflage, but when you know what gen they’re working on, there’s only so many places you can hide and most players I’ve encountered aren’t that good at stealth, as they just sit in one place which isn’t good because I’ll eventually look in that spot lol.

With perks like Spine Chill and Urban Evasion in the game, it’s so easy to hide from the killer in plain sight. As long as you stay behind cover, you’re golden. The cosmetic has nothing to do with it.

People know when they’re choosing a cosmetic to wear how visible they’ll be at certain distances. Every character in the game has at least one cosmetic that makes them stealthier, so I don’t think anybody is at a disadvantage when it comes to the survivor they play as.

Autohaven is lit like a Christmas tree.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/14V28YT3C4VB/image.png

We clearly aren't playing the same game.

The only map left in the game that has anything remotely resembling "dark" is Hawkin's, and only in some parts of it.

In that photo, the map looks great. The problem is, that’s not how it renders for me on console. If I play the map today and I assume I will. I’ll take a photo of my screen so you can see how it displays for me. And like I’ve said multiple times, the problem isn’t with my TV.

  • I don’t know who Scott is, but I love Demo. <3

Then that's a problem with your TV.

Autohaven is super bright and I don't play with filters or any of that nonsense and I don't lower graphics details.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BPQOEELVUAN8/image.png

This is what Autohaven looks like for me, used a key to get there just to take this screenshot.

If you were playing this game 3 years ago you'd probably have a heartw attack

    You’re so ignorant.

Just because you’re not experiencing any issues with the maps, doesn’t mean there isn’t an issue. On console, the Autohaven maps are too dark. It’s not stylistically dark either, it’s bugged. Midwich is a dark map, but it renders perfectly fine on console. It’s dark, but not to the point it gives me a headache from playing. If you think me actually struggling to see where my character is and totems and pallets practically becoming invisible was an intentional game design, well, I don’t know what to say to ya lol.

The problem also isn’t with my TV. I have a brand new 4K TV. Blu rays look absolutely stunning. The Last of Us Part II, visually, is one of the best games I’ve ever played. Shadow detail was phenomenal. Every other map on DBD renders completely fine for me. But yeah, the Autohaven not rendering right is a fault with my TV.

There’s nothing wrong with my settings either. Like I said, everything else plays and looks how it was INTENDED to look.

The fact some of you are claiming this map is lit up like a Christmas tree just proves to me that you’re not experiencing the same issue. Because it’s currently lit up by a candle for me.

So stop making out like we’re being cry babies. You don’t have a bugged map? Well that’s great. But a lot of us do and we want it fixed.

Why is that making so many of you so passive aggressive?

  • I’ve found the most successful way to play the Twins is to use Sloppy Butcher and try to keep as many people injured as possible and then go on a slugging spree as Victor using his built-in Bloodhound mechanic. Although, this makes for an extremely boring game if you’re on the survivor side lol.

I feel like the only way to be strong as them, is to play like a total pain in the ass, which is a shame. As visually, I do love them so much.

I'm a PC player, I only have issues with autohaven. Its definitely bad on PC too. I have an AMD card if that helps.

That’s good to know, as I was starting to believe it was only an issue effecting console players lol. I honestly thought it was a bug that would have been fixed but the fact it’s still like this is alarming. I was going crazy thinking it was only me suffering. 🤣

  • @[Deleted User] said:

New Autohaven literally hurts my eyes. It physically hurts to look at.

    Migraine twins. <3

Seriously though, it really hurts my eyes and my desire to play the match completely plummets when I load into Autohaven.

  • When I next get the map, I’ll take a picture of my TV to show people just how dark and muddy the quality is and once again, the problem isn’t with my TV.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Oh man I thought I was the only one that noticed this. I don't know what they did but it looks ugly and has some serious black-crush. None of the other realms suffer from this so it seems more like a design choice than a bug. Not only is it dark but since the blacks are crushed you lose a lot of detail in dark areas of the map.

Are you also console? As the people that seem to be unaffected by the issues are on PC. I loved when the map was disabled recently. I hate that it’s now back. 😂

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Agreed. I used to be extremely happy when I got Autohaven when playing Huntress, now I just want to AFK there because even pink haired neon Neas can hide in plain LOS.

Are you also console? Whenever I play as a character in dark clothing, I actually cannot see myself in some parts of the map. I completely disappear lol. It’s bad as both killer and survivor, but killer is definitely worse because of the FPV. I just mentally give up before the match begins if I see an offering for those maps.

  • I agree with this. I’m actually shocked that they haven’t been fixed yet. It’s unfair that console players are forced to play on these maps and struggle to see, but PC players are having no issues with the brightness.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

People saying something doesn't exactly make it true, people complain about every map being too bright or too dark all the time even when they are not; so it's hard to take stock without seeing something.

The old map was dark, much darker than the current one.

However it sounds like autohaven has some kind of lighting bug on console then because it's generally much brighter right now than it ever was. Literally everything people complained about above has been toned down over what the map used to be; so it sounds like console has some kind of rendering bug then.

That doesn't quite explain why it only affects that map though, unless they did something weird to like....only the console version of that map for some reason.

Edit: well I am watching two capture card recorded gameplay videos on PS4 of the new Autohaven and it looks fine from what I see. So idk what else to say sorry. Good luck at resolving this though, wish you luck.

Are you on PS4 yourself though? Because it’s definitely not fine how it is lol. The old Autohaven wasn’t dark, at all. It was literally a daytime map, so how can that be darker than a nighttime map? It makes no sense. As I said, I’ve had no issues with any of the maps until they added the ‘updated’ Autohaven. They’re virtually unplayable for me.

@vector below has just linked his thread. So you can also see there, other people are experiencing the issue. If you’re on PC. You’re probably unaffected. I’m not exaggerating. The maps are HORRENDOUS to play for me and they need to be fixed. It’s not fair that it’s only console players that are suffering.

  • @Echorion To add to your edit, the old version of the map wasn’t dark, like, at all for me lol. But this new one is horrendous on console.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Post a screenshot; because it's bright as hell on my screen.

This is what it looks like on my screen I can see just fine:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcPvGM7VGRw

What will posting a screenshot achieve? As that won’t show how it appears on my TV, whilst I’m actually playing.

Are you on PC? As I’m PS4 and it’s rendered really bad for me. A map shouldn’t hurt my eyes when I play. It’s like when you turn the brightness down on your phone and it hurts your eyes to look.

The issue isn’t with my TV either as every other map / game looks great. It’s literally just these ones. If you look it up, you’ll see that plenty of other people have complained about it being too dark. So it’s not just an issue I’m experiencing.

    Here’s some examples:

The Map is not dark at all.

    Let me show you something:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/AN3VMNUDSAA4/mistandmoonlightdefault.jpg

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/IJGIND0GR1NR/fullmoonbouqueteffects.jpg

First picture is default Lightning, second picture is the brightest moonlight. This was the brightness when DBD was a game which was actually dark (it is bright today compared to that) and when Moonlight Offerings still were a thing. (https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Moonlight )

So really, calling Maps dark nowadays is a Joke. They are brighter than what was considered "brightest moonlight" a few years ago.

It’s ridiculously dark. It looks like somebody put a filter over the screen. I play on a 4K TV and no other game looks like this. They’re badly designed. None of the other nighttime maps are like this. Only Autohaven. I’m also not the only person to mention this. Plenty of people have said the new render is too dark.

I’m also a veteran player so I don’t need to be ‘schooled’ on how the game used to be. I’ve never had issues with brightness apart from the new Autohaven and downstairs on the old Gideon Meat Plant.

  • These are gorgeous! Especially the Spine Chill ones.
