I started playing this game over 1,550 days ago, and now I've put it into legit numbers I'm feeling pretty depressed tbh. ππ

Yup - this happened to me too. Basically I now have to purposely de-pip or only play killer in the daytime to avoid getting SWF sweat squads against whom I stand zero chance. I realize I could get better if I devoted a lot more time to the game but I really donβt have the time to be more than a casual player. I need to start purposely camping and slugging in my matches so I donβt pip up - sad but true!
It is man a casual gamer against the sweat squads in red ranks just doesn't have a chance of having fun unless they stop being casual and put in lots of time into playing killer. Most people just want to play every now and again and have fun though, which is probably why a lot either just stick to survivor or just end up dropping dbd and playing something else.

While your right rage will deny that makeing that a valid strat for only so long then your forced to hide and run dbd has nothing other than entity blockers and a power to deny that
The thing is a lot of survivors like myself don't really care if I win or lose a match, I just want some good chases and to have fun regardless of the outcome.
-
It could use a slight buff and be a little bit faster but not to much.
-
Because when you've got a lot of time in the game chasing and time with the killer is the most fun you can get out of a match.
Its like F13 where when you were new you did all the objectives and tried to escape, but when you've played a lot you just grab a baseball bat and run at Jason lol.
-
Just depends on the survivor really. Maybe they went to save someone against noed last game and got one hooked and left to die, maybe they just want to make sure they can tbag the killer at the exit gate when they come, who knows lol.
-
I agree some are really nice and cool but the majority are toxic complainers that like to talk crap about everyone else in the match. That's why I dodge TTV's whether I'm playing survivor and there in my team or playing killer.

It's... still invincibility, why is that so hard to understand that these survivors shouldn't have any invincibility tactics in a game where they're small scared little #########
Because this game isn't about scared survivors hiding from the big bad scary killer once anyone gets over 100 hours in the game.
Camping, slugging and tunnelling are valid tactics that the devs have agreed to and that's why they have put perks into the game for survivors like BT, DS, SG etc because they need to have a way of countering them.

True it is the smartest play, but I think the question the original poster is getting at, is whether or not that makes for a good mechanic.
While it sucks for the killer pov, I don't know if any valid workaround options to prevent by body blocks. And then again, does it even need a workaround?
I think it's fine as it is and in the best place it's been now because you can still counter it in one way or another.
I'm just glad it isn't like the old BT where you didn't even have to bodyblock because both unhooker and the one on hook automatically got it.

I think I'm going to take a break tbh. The last 10 or so games I've played have all been more or less the same and I find my heart is racing once they're over, usually only getting a 1k by playing dirty and it's not fun at all, which defeats the point of playing a video game.
Don't feel bad about it man we've all been there, I have over 4000 hours in the game and I still have to take breaks every now and again to stop me from wanting to stop playing all together.
-
You've hit the killer wall man. The matchmaking system is putting you against red rank teams and general survivors likely with 1000's of hours.
It's something most people go through when getting into killer and you have a few options on how to deal with it.
- push yourself and try your best to work through it, yes it will be difficult and stressful but you'll get better and learn after every match.
- Derank to go against survivors nearer to the level where you're at now and stay there till you get enough experience to be able to push up further in rank.
- Switch to mainly survivor for a while, this will be able to give you more of an insight into what the survivors are thinking/doing and what plays they will try and also give you more map and game knowledge to be able to play killer better as well.
Hope any of this helps and I'm sure you'll get there <3

I tried earlier and still got the effect but if another PH does this no harm in trying again ig
I hit crouch before hitting the floor and it worked for me but I may have been lucky because I've only done it once, but it's worth a shot.
-
Now that would be way to scary to go against. But I'd love to see him turn up in the Samination videos. ππ
-
I think that's one buff that would help him a lot if he didn't trigger them and make brown bag add on base kit and at least he will be somewhat better than he is now.
-
It's not an exploit. I had a PH do this to me the other day and I instantly hit the crouch button when I came off the shoulder and I didn't get the effect so that myn't be worth a try if you want them to at least waste even more time.

Okay, let me put it this way: Sure, BT is fine early-mid game, but if it's endgame and you're trying to down the unhooker, there's literally nothing you can do if somebody with BT is bodyblocking you. The whole "count down" argument only works under certain circumstances because most of the time you're either escorting them to the exit gates or you're forced to hit them and give them a Sprint Burst away. It's not fair at all.
Just make no-collision an endgame thing, that way killers can play around it by trying to get a hit before they can tap the gate assuming it isn't already open.
Its only 12 seconds so as long as they aren't next to an exit gate you can get them down again.
But even in the blue moon when they are next to an exit gate it's okay to get out perked every now and again. I'm sure when survivors out play the killer all game to get hit and one hooked because of noed they find it annoying, or if they avoid a killer all match who has devour hope just to get insta downed and moried without even being hooked doesn't seem fair either.
If we change things because in one situation it seems unfair then we're opening up a whole can of worms in regards to numerous perks and play styles in the game.

Just because it's efficient doesn't mean it's necessarily fair. Despite the DS nerf taking so long, the devs did it because survivors had 60 seconds of invincibility and punished killers who weren't tunneling. The same could be said for BT.
Not at all, it's 12 seconds so if you do hit someone with it then it does what it's suppose to do and help against tunnelling.
Besides it's easily countered, multiple times a survivor has spun in front of me trying to get me to hit them and I've just counted down and then downed and hooked them and now they're dead and I'm in for an easy win. BT is a fair perk that's easily countered by an experienced killer.
-
What do you mean the only reason I lose is because the killer is a tunneller, camper, slugger who hacks and lag switches and my team are always at fault, never myself I always play perfectly.
-
@Karao_Ke said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2175907#Comment_2175907
You also shouldn't be able to punish a killer that is actively trying to avoid tunneling. While I agree bodyblocking with BT is a good play, that isn't a very good argument.
Of course it is, just like the smartest play as killer will be to target a weak link if you want to win. There's things on both sides that aren't fun to go against, however it doesn't mean it's not the most efficient and smart thing to do.
-
As someone who only plays solo when I play survivor I hate spirit with a passion lol, however as someone that equally plays killer I understand that she can be a necessary evil when you have to deal with SWF.
-
If they want to bring in long term resident evil fans then a killer from the new game would be very disappointing tbh. They need nemesis or Mr X, or just someone nostalgic that's iconic resident evil when you think back over the years of playing the game.
-
Huntress very easy? She needs bumping up a few levels, especially for people learning her on console.
-
I'm not sure honestly. I think he's very map dependant because if he catches someone out in the open or at a short loop a decent trickster will have them on the floor very quickly so he can be quite strong there. But in indoor maps he struggles and around high wall loops with windows.

And that's fine to say that you think it's good as is, I just wanted to make sure you weren't trying to argue something along the lines of
don't nerf this becuse a nerf is bad becusde nerfing punishes survivors and that's bad.
Becuade that's just anothef way to say never nerf anything ever,
No, some things need nerfing on both sides and some things need buffing on both sides.
I play both sides equally so I see what's good for the game and what's not good for it from both perspectives.
-
I think that would be okay but it would probably be confusing for the killer if they have 10 seconds left on the haunted ground timer and you don't get insta downed lol.
-
Honestly the best advise anyone could give is just practice, practice, practice. It's harder on controller but it can be done, this is coming from a PS4 huntress main.

Alright I think we may have gotten a wire crossed, I said it's not punishing survivors when the devs nerf things, you said of coarse it is, was that about nerfing things or something else?
To clarify I'm saying that proposing a nerf isn't a bad thing that that should not be proposed because it punishes survivors for something. Did you disagree with that?
I don't disagree with things being needed if it's needed, the ds nerf was definitely needed because it pretty much granted 60 seconds of invincibility after a unhook.
But I think that BT is in a decent place as it is because if you do hit someone with BT then it has done its job by stopping you from being tunnelled and going straight down after you've been unhooked.
-
@wxnickxw said:

So just to clarify you think the ds nerf was punishing survivors for good plays and shouldn't have been done?
If so does thay hold true for all survivor nerfs, killer nerfs too?
No I've stated many times that ds is now in the best place it's ever been as it actually does the thing it's suppose to do and help if you're actually getting tunnelled.
-

Oh so we're back to 15 seconds of invincibility of bt instead of 60 seconds of DS...u survivors sure love your invincibility
I play both sides and have defended both tunneling and camping as tactics in numerous threads but nice try lol.
Also it's 12 seconds now FYI and it's easily counterable seeing as I've done it numerous times when playing killer.
-
@wxnickxw said:

Its not punishing a survivor for making a good play by changing the rules to make them stop doing something
By that reasoning nerfing ds was punishing survivors for making the smart play, no it was stopping then for doing something that wasn't very fun for Killers to deal with
Of course it is, if the person saving is injured then they have no way of protecting them then they go down no matter what. There are things that may not seem fair on both sides but you just deal with it and try to work around them if they happen.

While I won't DISAGREE with that, what I will say is that if you body block with BT when I tried to go for the unhooker, and I now decide to remove you from the game via that spicy tunnel, you don't actually get to complain that you got tunneled, because what you did was an invitation. When they body block with BT, I take it as them saying "please ######### me harder, killer!".
I don't complain about getting tunnelled so that's fine by me.

Exactly right,,, I think every solo player should run BT because so many of the killer mains like Nurse or Spirit can vape right over to you when you are trying to hook save. If that happens and I am the one doing the save I always try to block the killer because I put the just saved teammate in a bad spot so I will take the down.
Exactly bodyblocking with bt will always be the best play, especially if the saving survivor is injured because you stop them getting downed.
-
@RenRen said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2175897#Comment_2175897
That doesn't really answer the question.
The answer if no they shouldn't, you can't punish a survivor for making a smart play. You as the killer has to play smarter, by either going around them because you are faster, waiting out the timer, or grabbing them because bt doesn't work on grabs.
-
If someone body blocks with BT then they are being a good teammate as that's the smartest play a survivor can make in that situation.
-
If I play survivor I only play solo queue. Tbh for me it all just depends on my mood with the game, if I'm feeling good I don't take it seriously and have a laugh and don't care if I get camped, tunnelled etc and just have fun with it regardless. If I'm not feeling great with the game then I have a couple of bad matches and then just play something else until I want to give dbd a try again.

For noed what type of change would it need, right now its an end game perk like a few others that killers and survivors have. The problem that others seem to have with is that it 1 hits survivor so I thoght the effect broken would give survivors some chance but the killers need to hit the survivor to make it happen or if they were hit from before and taking away the speed boost and replace it with something else
For DS if it was only 30 seconds at max, I like the idea of when they get downed they keep it, its not going away if the killer leaves them on the ground so the killers are still going to have to deal with it. On top of that they can use it later in the game if they need to if they were left on the ground and got up but they would need to get unhooked again and be downed in 30 seconds again. im going to put this change change for DS in the main post
The ds change would be okay as it would work if you are actually being tunnelled, plus they can't just slug it out if it's still paused while you are on the ground.
The only change I could think of to noed is to make it so you can only insta down the survivors you have already hooked at least once. This would stop bad killers being able to rely on it as a crutch mainly. From my experience if a killers played well and I get hit with noed I don't really mind, it's only when I've outplayed them all match and not been able to get downed and then get hit with it at the end that I find it kinda annoying.
-
You're imagining people role playing and having fun messing around with each other, which was fun in F13 when it happened.
However the reality is that it would mostly be people being dicks to the other side and shouting racists and homophobic slurs.
-
Noed doesn't need any buffs it's already a badly designed perk and that would just make it worse.
DS is in the best place it's ever been right now, the only way those changes myn't work is if the timer got paused while in chase or if the survivor got downed.

And yet, there's been little done to prevent those games from happening.
I know it's garbage that the devs have literally admitted it on stream and pretty much said they don't care about it because most players aren't at that level.
-
No, that's why instead of just having 5 gens on the map to complete they have 7 so the killer can't just camp the last one.
-
Solo can be tough sometimes, but I'd rather have a match that I can get a load of points and have plenty interaction with the killer than a SWF match that ends in minutes and I barely pip.
-
An organised SWF with full meta perks and a large map is something that even otz or true would lose to so don't feel bad man.
Just understand that even the devs know and have stated that at the top there is a massive balance issue against SWF teams at that level and you just can't win those games.
-
Nice, thanks for this tip it's one of my last challenges to get done. ππ»

Or depressed about π
True ππ
-
Why? It doesn't hurt anything and it's something to feel accomplished about when you've been playing the game for a long time.
-
It literally does nothing, the only time they myn't do something is if they're hacking and that's only with video evidence.
-
But if you get kicked from a game because of your WiFi it's still screwing over your team regardless of if you meant to dc or not.
-
Try home sweet home, but if that happened in dbd it would just end up turning into F13 where everyone just beat the crap out of Jason instead of trying to play the game properly. There's not enough killers as it is so that would just be the nail in the coffin tbh.
-
Ps plus is what allows you to play online and dbd is an online game so of course you have to have ps plus.
If you don't want to pay for it then I'm sorry but you shouldn't be buying online games.
-
I'm a huntress main on console and no we don't have aim assist. It may be harder to get good with her on controller but it certainly can be done.
Plus we can still see you in corn slightly and if you're running in a straight line it's an easy down. Or they myn't have had the aura add on which has made me op as hell in corn before.
