  • I'm gonna try to P3 most of my killers and get some new teachables for my survivors. Might P3 my Claire, not that there's much point in terms of aesthetics.

  • Ah yes, the classic "play better" argument.

You're welcome to disagree with the statement that survivors should get points for being tunneled out of the game, but 'get good' does nothing to constructively contribute to the discussion.

  • @Iliketoplaykiller said:

So you want free points for being tunneled out of a game?

Yes, actually. I'd be way less annoyed if I got free points for literally being tunneled out of the game.

  • This is intentional. Deep Wound is still treated as an injury. Perks like Second Wind that would otherwise heal you to full from injured will instead "Mend" you.

In the case of Resurgence, Deep Wound is treated as a timed health state.

  • Having read the patch notes, I have to say that as a console player my disappointment is immeasurable. I'm disappointed that the chapter was allowed to release in this state, and I'm disappointed by the official Dead by Daylight twitter responding to a question asking about a fix for performance issues.

I understand that it isn't easy, and that not all bugs are equal but performance issues should absolutely take priority. I say should, because that's an ideal, and I know it isn't realistic but, as a consumer, I expect better.

The experience on PS4 is miserable. Between frame drops and tunneling killers, it's hard to have patience and enjoy the game.

  • Tunneling isn't fun to play against, and survivors get nothing out of it. Oh wow! That 5000 points I made is going to go a long way!

Also, you can consistently 4k against competent survivors without tunneling. I main Ghostface and I don't tunnel unless they specifically force my hand. If you're going to hang around to blind me, you aren't getting a second chance.

    Wrong, it spawn when:

The number of gens completed is equal or higher than the number of players in the trial (killer included)

    OR

There is only one survivor left

This means that the hatch spawns even if there are 3 survivors alive and 4 gens have been completed, or if 2 survivors are alive and 3 gens have been completed.

This should be looked at, not keys, because when there is a key in play survivors will stop trying to do gens as soon as the hatch spawns

Not "wrong". I am correct in saying that the hatch spawns once all gens are done. The person I quoted said "Just👏make👏hatch👏spawn👏after👏all👏gens👏are👏finished !"

  • @Kebek said:

    Just👏make👏hatch👏spawn👏after👏all👏gens👏are👏finished !

(and also when only 1 survivors remains, possibly add small 3s animation too just to be safe)

It already does spawn after all gens are finished. It only opens without a key when there's one survivor left.

  • Killer main is Ghostface. Why? I find it's very easy to catch survivors unaware or off-guard thanks to the lack of terror radius. It makes getting that first hit on a healthy survivor much easier.

Survivor main is Kate. Why? Idk. I like Kate. Kate is the best looking survivor tbh.

  • Bubba, Blight and Spirit tunneling all the time for me. Bubba proxy camping all the time. Everyone else is fine.

  • As survivor, safety pip or better.

As killer, 2 kills minimum for a win.

  • In my experience so far, people aren't using tentacle until you're already mid-animation for that guaranteed hit.

We’re just going to have to make DS meta again, killers don’t respect it at all anymore

I watched a teammate get tunneled by Nemesis, they used DS and Nemesis continued to tunnel them. Got 4 gens done in that time. Might need to buff DS at this rate.

  • I've had tunneling Nemesis players a lot lately, so that combined with the near-constant frame drops is getting really frustrating. 3 games in a row, my team went up against red rank killers who sweat like it's a tournament.

One was nice enough to let me do the gen and didn't kill me until there was 1 gen left, so that was pretty nice of them. The other two tunneled me off-hook.

  • @Kalinikta Slugging is only toxic when you do it at 5 gens. You gain nothing, and the survivors gain nothing. Tunneling is always toxic unless you have one gen left and two survivors. It's not "get good", it's "do better". Learn from mistakes made.

When I said that camping and tunneling won't make up for previous mistakes, I meant that you won't learn how to avoid those mistakes to begin with. You'll repeat the process, and when faced with an efficient team of survivors you just end up costing yourself the game.

You don't learn anything from camping and tunneling, nor do you get better at the game. Sure, really good survivors can get a teammate out of a face camp or even take aggro to deter tunneling, but that rarely stops someone who wants to do these things.

You can get a 4k without tunneling or camping. Tunneling and camping makes the game significantly less fun for the survivors, and at the end of the day they're trying to have fun and enjoy the game just like you. There's nothing wrong with trying to win, but at the end of the day, it's important that both sides have fun.

The more toxicity, the less players. The less players, the longer the queue times.

  • Nobody forces either side to do anything they don't want to do.

I play both sides, and I have very frequently been on the receiving end of tunneling and face camping. These things are not going to make up for your mistakes. If you're at 1 gen with 2 hooks on the board, you didn't apply enough pressure.

Tunneling and camping isn't going to erase that mistake, and it's not going to help you deal with the situation any better either. All you're doing is promoting toxicity by doing these things.

So you don't tunnel even if you can't find any other survivor than unhooked one?

Nope. I patrol gens if I can't find a different survivor.

  • As a killer main and as someone who gets tunneled frequently as survivor, there absolutely needs to be built-in measures against tunneling and camping.

I don't like being tunneled, so I avoid doing it as Killer. When I do it unintentionally, I leave the survivor slugged, so they still have a chance to play. Tunneling feels cheap and unfair, so I call it out when I see it only to be met with statements like "It's your fault for making the stupid decision to be unhooked." or "You were the only one nearby.", or "Why should I play how survivors want me to play?" etc.

There's a myriad of excuses for tunneling and none of them are ever justified unless it's two gens, two survivors. Even in a situation where you're at 2 gens with 4 healthy survivors, it's still not okay to tunnel. It's still unfairly removing someone from the game because you lack pressure.

It is more efficient to go after the injured survivor, but if they've been off the hook for no less than 5 seconds, you're not really giving them a fair chance.

Sure, you can do what you have to in order to secure that 4k, but just know that tunneling your way there doesn't make you a better killer in terms of skill, and it really shows when you play against efficient survivors who capitalize on your tunneling.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/258715/this-patch-has-made-killer-unfun

Well the issue I think most killers will run into is they aren’t used to developing skill. You get 4K games at rank 18 and it never ends. Survivors have a much harder grind which is why they’re so good at red ranks. Killers need a higher skill curve to learn to compete. Plus if your definition of fun is a 4K match, that just means you’re the only one having fun. That’s an issue in itself.

What does any of that have to do with frame drops? Clearly, you didn't read the post.

It is ironic that he is complaining about something that gives "free information" when spinechill exists to ruin stealth killers.

Spine chill doesn't show you the killer's aura and can be completely countered by not looking at the generator.

  • I agree that the add-on needs changing. Wraith simply doesn't need it anymore. Stop acting like OP is suggesting they absolutely gut Wraith; it's a single add-on, not a sledgehammer nerf.

  • On a PS4 Pro - Every match I experience frame drops constantly. It's beyond ridiculous. Please optimize the game for console.

  • Ghostface: As others have said, better reveal mechanics. Other QoL stuff would be his add-ons. Currently, they're not great. They're all kinda boring and just "Meh". His lean mechanic could also use some work.

Plague: Her whispers need to go. You can't hear a damn thing when you play as her.

  • Spirit lacks any meaningful sort of counterplay. Everything you do against Spirit while she's phasing is a guessing game. Yes, you can pre-drop pallets but that's not really meaningful counterplay.

You're getting zero information on Spirit while she's phasing, while Spirit on the other hand gets to track your breathing, grunts of pain if injured, and your scratch marks. A guessing game is not counterplay.

  • Honestly, it doesn't matter why it was an intentional design choice. What matters is that it is now an outdated mechanic that hinders both sides more than it helps.

  • I'm okay with the killer being Nemesis, a little disappointed that Jill is the other survivor.

  • I sincerely hope it isn't Jill. RE3-Remake didn't leave a good impression on me. I would vastly prefer Claire to be one of the survivors. There's also a good chance for it to be Leon/Claire since there was that crossover with Monster Hunter World.

So at this point it's anyone's guess.

  • Ruin + Surveilance helps. Although, if I'm being honest, it would be nice if kicking gens and base regression were a little better.

  • Self-care is my only selfish perk. My loadout as Survivor is Self-care, Fast Track, We'll Make It and Borrowed Time. I always heal teammates after an unhook if it is safe to do so. I do plan on swapping out self-care for Second Wind, though.

  • The main issue with Spirit is, as you've said, the lack of information you get from her as a survivor. Get hit at a pallet? Your guess didn't pay off. This total information blackout has got to go.

  • The removal of Bloodlust Tiers altogether. Bloodlust should kick in after around 20 seconds and provide the same speed boost as tier 1.

Nerfing problematic killers like Spirit whose counterplay comes down to guesswork. All killers should have some degree of counterplay to their power. Unfortunately, Spirit's power is a total information blackout.

The removal of perk tiers. It's unnecessary and adds extra grind to an already grindy game.

  • I have to agree with the title of the post. Lately, it's just been non-stop tunneling from purple/red rank killers and it's just getting a wee-bit out of hand. Why is it that we still don't have the matchmaking update? We've gone through two trials now. Surely it cannot be that hard to implement a matchmaking system that is fair.

  • Borrowed Time, WGLF, We'll Make It, Self-care. WGLF is an interchangable perk for me. I only use it for the bloodpoints.

  • @Yords said:

...so who's fault is it that your internet keeps spiking?

PlayStation has frame rate issues. Skill check comes up as soon as another survivor gets hooked? Frame drop, miss the skill check. So it's more accurate to say OP had a frame drop.

  • @loopsahoy said:

Ds was only useable once, i dont see why people thought it meant everyone would escape instantly. I gwt the nerf, but gen tapping is possible during chase, therefore, you could still be tunneled during it.

But that begs the question as to why you would do that, knowing full well that a single frame can be the difference between you getting away from the killer and getting downed. I know when I'm being tunneled I don't worry about gens, I worry about going from vault to vault and pallet to pallet. My team can handle the gens.

  • J-Flick is an exploit. End of discussion. The devs are removing it because that's not how they want Blight to function. Your feelings on it are not relevant.

  • I disagree with the notion that DS should not deactivate if you tap a gen. You're still progressing the game. The idea is that DS is an anti-tunnel perk. It is there to deter tunneling, not outright prevent it. If you're that concerned, play SWF and let your friends worry about the gens.

The killer does get punished for tunneling. By applying all the pressure exclusively to the one survivor, it allows the other survivors to hammer out gens. DS is a further punishment to the killer as it allows the survivor a second chance to get away.

DS was abused, and now it has been justifiably nerfed. It still functions the same as before, only now you can't progress the game without losing it.

Naturally nothing will stop a killer from tunneling if they really want to, but it's also a bit pointless for the killer to wait ten seconds before deciding to tunnel. Why would they do this? If they're going to tunnel, they're just going to do it rather than wasting 10 seconds doing whatever they're supposed to be doing in that specific hypothetical situation.

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

IMO for blood warden they should make it so when you hook someone it blocks the gates for 40/50/60 seconds but if you hook a survivor while the perk is activated it pauses the timer so when you hook a survivor to activate blood warden the timer will not count down until the survivor is unhooked and when you hook a survivor the timer stops.

    That's way too strong.

  • Blood Warden just needs to be changed so that hooking a survivor once the gates are powered will automatically trigger the effect once the gate has been opened.

I always think the fire pits are a totem or someone doing a totem

There is this one spot on dead dawg where fire and the random environment effects sound almost exactly like the totem bones breaking, it's kind of annoying

    So much this.

  • I think dead hard is fine as is, and I'm a killer main. Sure, Dead Hard can't be countered when used for distance but I think nerfing it, especially that hard, isn't the solution. If you nerf it that hard, nobody will use it. That's also not taking into account the fact that to use the perk, you have to be injured. If you have to be injured to use a perk, then it stands to reason that perk should have a decent risk vs reward factor.

  • This is also happening on PS4.

  • Same thing here.

  • I think that, currently, people are overreacting to the rebalancing of OoO and DS. In its current state, DS is more effective as anti-momentum than it is anti-tunnel. If anything, the killer is more likely to tunnel for DS to remove it from the game early rather than have the potential for it to be available in the endgame.

The change to DS solidly defines it as anti-tunnel, since if you're being tunneled you can't work on gens/heal/rescue survivors/cleanse totems. All too often, someone will complain about tunneling despite being left alone for more than 30 seconds. All too often, DS will be used as a free pass to do whatever you want for 60 seconds. Continue working on a gen in the killer's face, unhook in the killer's face, jump in a locker mid-chase.

OoO on the other hand was being used by SWF as a way to provide constant information on the killer, or make looping easier.

Seems to me they are promoting tunneling rather than make it a true anti tunneling perk again i haven't used it many times because i only have it on laurie and david king

So, in your opinion, what is tunneling? I was under the impression that tunneling was relentlessly targeting one survivor until they're dead.

  • @WishIcouldmain said:

    Then turn off cross play

That's a great suggestion! Until you realise that you can only be matched with players who also have crossplay turned off.

  • NOED is fine. It only activates when the last gen is done anyway. This means for most of the trial, the killer is running 3 perks and effectively gimping themselves.

The solution is to do bones.

  • It's a gamble. They'll either want to farm, or they'll want to do gens as fast as possible. Either way, don't talk about it here. You're not supposed to farm.

  • The few times I ran NOED, I never had it not activate. But something I did notice is that survivors would cleanse all but one dull totem, making sure the last dull totem is easy to cleanse so that way if NOED does activate, they can get it straight away.
