  • Everyone who understands how the game works knows how unbalanced Camping and Tunneling is in it's current iteration.

  • I don’t think about what the reasoning is why Killer is doing it.

I do think about how unbalanced it is the moment. Which is why I (along with others) are persistent in giving feedback to the devs.

"Not everyone should get everything" is fine, and I don't care about limited stuff in general. The problem here is that they're specifically, and knowingly, engaging in a business practice made to prey on people with mental health issues.

If Mental issues are your worries there are other things that exist within the game that actually affect mental issues. Those which are free and do not cost money.

I can’t believe you are actually bringing up the topic of mental health to support your own argument against exclusivity. All when last I checked, the game’s own community is doing a pretty fine job to make sure that those with mental issues have the worst possible experience.

I’ll give you one example: Post match chat.

The outcry on this is unbelievable. Then again color me not surprised.

  • @Nihlus said:

The level of entitlement in this community never ceases to amaze me. "Everyone should be able to get everything!" I disagree. I'd prefer if there were ways to earn them than just buy them, but I completely disagree with this entire concept that exclusive, rare, or even unique items are bad.

People are acting like we are talking about food resources needed for survival. We’re literally talking about a virtual skin.

In a game where there is a plethora of skins to choose from with more to come. So I understand your comment about entitlement.

This is not the thread to be doing this in. Normally I cometely agree but this level of anti-consumer bullshit should never be tolerated.

What do you mean? They (the OP) are literally telling people not to spend their own hard earned money when the last time I checked people can do whatever they want.

Dont like the exclusive model? It’s simple: Don’t buy it. But don’t go off the deep end because you are panicking about “what else” this means blah blah blah as an excuse for the sake of creating an argument.

I think it’s disgusting that people feel they are entitled to tell others what to do with their wallets.

It's an extremely common tactic in the online gaming business model and it's become very prevalent in the last decade. Denying that it's predatory ignores the philosophy behind it. Generally, you can count on a fair subset of gamers to be motivated by exclusivity and a desire to show off, but 'fear of missing out' is an even bigger factor. If DBD takes an outfit and puts it in the shop, it'll get modest sales initially (depending on who the character is) and then a very slow drip of continued revenue as stragglers and new players access that content.

But if DBD takes that same outfit, puts it in the shop, and says it'll go away forever in a few weeks - they lose the slow drip, but the immediate burst of sales skyrockets due to players panicking over potential missed opportunities. Maybe it wasn't an outfit they would have bought immediately, or they already have a great outfit for that character, but they kind of like it! What if they want it more in the future? They'd hate to want it and not have it when they could have had it if they'd just acted. So they get it specifically because it's being retired.

I get the feeling DBD got its first taste of this in the Stranger Things going-away sale, whose removal was never planned and forced on them by Netflix, and someone up there decided they wanted to replicate it. So you now have a system where a good chunk of your released content - content that was originally slated to release normally and for everyone forever - gets jangled around like a set of keys in front of an infant, and if you don't grab it - whoops! It's gone. And people that would have been patient about it before and waited until they were in a better financial situation, or who would have lost interest after the initial few days and decided not to get it, jump like trained dogs to snatch the shiny pretty before the shiny pretty gets taken away from them.

And then they do this every single month. Or more. And the same group of whales gets hardcore bilked, while your average would-spend-small-amounts-of-cash gamer loses out because they have far fewer options than they would have if the game wasn't arbitrarily limiting everything to try and make a quick buck.

The prime people it targets are those with poor impulse control/decisionmaking (especially younger people), completionists, and showoffs. It is a way to get people to constantly and repeatedly buy things they otherwise wouldn't by removing the deliberation part of the deciding process and putting pressure on the consumer, and it works so well that it's spread like wildfire.

It's only a step above gachapons in terms of exploitation, and those are straight gambling.

It's an extremely common tactic in the online gaming business model and it's become very prevalent in the last decade.

I'd like to know when has this been a prevalent case in regards to DBD? I want a date. So far the only exclusives they have released have to do with "Buy this game and you get a skin" (Other platforms, Hooked on You etc) with some of them not being outright available in it's main platform. Still not enough to say this is a common tactic as far as BHVR is concerned.

There are literally hundreds of skins in the store and some obtainable via IN-GAME currency. I am not sure how BHVR releasing limited time exclusives is that big of a deal. Especially when they release skins almost every month. So I find it odd that you would even bring up WHO exclusives target as if they have no options.

I don't see how you could even bring gambling into the mix since you aren't buying a "mystery" skin... you know exactly what you are paying for.

  • She might be annoying to face at times, but the design on this outfit is really nice.

if for some reason you want to encourage predatory business tactics you go right ahead. don't act like i'm in the wrong for bringing up why it makes you an #########.

Since when is having limited time exclusives "predatory business"? Are you in business? Because I can tell you what you are saying doesn't make any sense. There are successful businesses that HAVE limited time exclusives especially around different times of the year (Halloween, Easter, Xmas etc etc) What you are using as an excuse is... "I might miss out on it, so it's bad business..."

On the other hand you are also telling people HOW to spend their hard earned dollar. So I think you should look at yourself first before calling someone the A word.

  • "For the love of god let me tell you what to do with YOUR money..."

  • Solo queue needs what SWF already has:

    VOICE COMMUNICATION

This can be an optional feature so that those that do not wish to participate can opt out IF they want to.

Additionally to aid those who do not want to participate in voice chat, a ping system would help as well. So survivors can ping their locations, ping items such as Medkits, Toolboxes, Chests, etc. This would be a nice QoL without being broken.

I am not a fan of auras in any capacity ,because not even SWF has that much precise information to that level.

  • Sadako isn’t as efficient as he is and yet she feels more fun.

I’ve never found this killer interesting whatsoever aesthetically or otherwise. Which is sad bc he is an anniversary killer.

  • I do feel like if someone dc’s at 5 gens and within the first minute of the match, the game should take that into consideration because it is no longer a fair match, and should only ask 4 gens to be completed.

OR alternatively back everyone out into an entirely new lobby.

It isn’t up To BHVR to force players to act a certain way. Does it suck that they are still playing sweaty when realistically the balance is way on their favor? Yes it does? But as much as it sucks, people still wanna play a normal match. It doesn’t mean that there aren’t things BHVR can’t/shouldn’t do to alleviate the situation.

  • Sure, because all survivors who complain about unfairness in the game are just like those survivors in your match. 🙄

Don't even get the point of this post.

  • They should just give the survivors the (optional) ability to communicate via voice. You know, the same exact thing that SWF have.

Also, Camping and Tunneling are a problem but they are not tied to lack of information, other than the fact that you don't know they are doing it until you get to the hook. It should be dealt with but not in relation to Solo Queue problems because it affects SWF too.

  • There is no correlation. As an example many times it isn’t “gen rushing” it is the killers own inability to catch someone so they overcommit to a chase. As a result they think their only option is to camp and tunnel that person. That isn’t gen rushing, it’s only because it’s much easier to blame it on that than your own skill (or lack there of).

There are legit times when the term gen rushing becomes an excuse, rather than what it really is.

  • Wait, they are actually real people playing behind those solo queue survivors?

    25673F5F-F46B-4EFE-86D1-393100D5442D.gif

  • You have time to wait it out, and if you don’t get that kill it is simply RNG. Same reason as many other things don’t fall into place for survivors.

  • Um, so you're saying you've only camped and tunneled against good survivors? :)

  • @Friendly_Blendette said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3215494#Comment_3215494

And I dont blame them? Reworking the entire system that 1 side is based around isn't a simple thing. It would take a huge amount of time and resources and would easily be the biggest change the game has ever seen. Like that sorta overhauling is full on sequel level changes. Not to mention everything else that needs changing due to being hook reliant. You say it like the devs are lazy or something, it is just a ridiculous change to expect them to make and is far too risky.

Nobody is arguing whether it is a simple thing to rework or not. In fact I am quite certain nobody (unless they are a game developer themselves) really know the answer to that.

You are the one who called them lazy not me. So kindly stop twisting my words. Because doesn’t change the fact that in the paradigm of things that are A) changed B) introduced…Hooks have been at the top of the list. So when I see more perks… more mechanics changed that only further promote this playstyle that does not make the game fun. I am going to call it out. I think that is less ridiculous than to pretend like the game isn’t in the state that it’s currently in.

It’s very interesting that you yourself admit that Camping and Tunneling will never be fixed by debuffing them, but by introducing new ideas that would counter them. You do know that new ideas take time too right? I mean if we’re going by speculation.

  • This one:

I am Dwight and at this point nobody was coming to help me so I tried to trade hooks to save Quentin, but Wesker was console and I got grabbed. Rebecca FINALLY comes in for the save... or does she? 🤡

    Rebecca's Play.gif

  • The real reason: Because the devs aren’t willing to overhaul how hooks work and balance around that.

  • BT and Sprint Burst.

I have made some nearly impossible saves with those two perks.

  • @WorthlessBeing said:

As a Killer, I can choose to slow down the rhythm of the match if I so desire: letting go of chases, survivors, patrolling.

When was the last time you saw a Survivor willingly slow down the match for the other team to enjoy? Oh right: Never.

Your petty tribalism is funny tho. Then again, so is mine.

I am not talking about your choice. You are free to use whatever your little heart desires. Whether it’s deemed broken or not.

I am simply explaining how matches in this game have perk combinations AND power combinations that make the game unbalanced/unfun. That may be something you care little about or not at all… I don’t care either way.

I am just giving my opinion because after 7.3k hours I have gathered that much of the reason why people don’t have fun in this game is because they find themselves in a predicament where they want to play more casual but the game itself has RNG (map tiles/gen-hook spawns etc) that is only further made worse by the impact perks and built in “tools” have… making players feel sabotaged rather than allowing their own skill making the impact.

  • @C3Tooth said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3213916#Comment_3213916

Thats minority, most killers want longer match, thats why they bring 4 slowdown to make sure survivor cant finish Gen at all. Something like 2 survivors hiding at 3 Gens for 45min

    Wait...

    They dont like that either

Honestly I wouldn’t know whether it’s the minority or majority… the fact that we have killers that can significantly end the match in 5 mins simply because of a combination of their powers-add ons-OR-perks is just insane to me.

For the record, I never care for builds that have Stake out and Hyperfocus and a BNP but the bottom line is that these devs are to blame for allowing those things to exist without a threshold.

I know for me ever since patch 6.1.0 I have felt the need to bring more things to combat the absurdity that is the combination of slow down perks. While before I would be bringing the more “fun perks”.

RNG is the real enemy because either side probably feel the need to bring a sweat build or else… which is sad because it shouldn’t be that way. Perks should not have that much of an impact in a match.

Avoiding the killer has, if he cant find you. He cant camp or tunnel you.

This is probably one of the most absurd comments I have seen on this topic. Like, nobody cares whether you do it out of spite/fun/lack of skill... nobody.

This is like telling a killer well..."PaTRoL AlL GeNs aNd NoT OnE wILl gEt DoNE" ... like you know that its bound to happen. So to suggest that the survivor should pretty much invisible to avoid the killer is just downright stupid.

  • But didn't you know that killers don't like when the matches end too soon because gens pop "too fast"?

    Oh wait....

It's almost like they only mind it when the survivors are the ones ending the matches soon, not them.

  • No way, I'm more skillful camping, because I don't even have to touch my mouse.

    Untitled Image

  • Coming from someone with that name I am actually not surprised you think it's skillful.

    Those who know...know.

  • It's a cheesy playstyle frowned upon by the majority of players.

Usually it's a sign that players aren't good with that particular killer.

  • @CosmicScarab said:

I’m getting at that she has no power. Her stealth is even more obvious than other stealth killers. GF and wraith also have other benefits to their power (instadown, antiloop speed boost.) Sadako has literally nothing

She has a power, just because you think it is weak doesn't mean she doesn't.

  • @woundcowboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3210543#Comment_3210543

What is her power? Other than the tvs, which can be taken away, she has literally nothing. Her power doesn’t work as anti loop, and she isn’t stealthy because you can hear her coming. Worthless.

Umm, she is also stealth. If you are arguing that you can "hear" her... well you can also hear Ghostface's cloak, you can also get a tell when Pig dashes... Stealth doesn't mean completely oblivious.

Why should her power work as anti-loop when she is not an anti-loop killer?

Not sure what you are trying to get at.

  • I still don’t understand how Sadako is that bad.

I have so much fun with this character, and it’s strange to me that a handful find her weak. Like I get her TV power could be tweaked but what else? I just do not see it.

I don’t think she needs to be S tier to be enjoyable.

What is “a lot” of situations cuz so far it’s just one. I want a list.

BHVR should post the numbers for 4k in low MMR, for 4k in high MMR, the numbers for swf and solo q in low MMR and high MMR, and so on.

you know when is SWF because u are killer u can "read" the match and you realize how survivor do thing in the same time, who theirs will do that thing now, u think hmm " now, that nea will go to save, because she doesnt hook yet" its difficult to explain here, but, you knows when are solos, because everything is discordinate. In a SWF hex totens, gens, healings, everything happen in a perfect synchrony, solos do not repair gens if TR coming, but SWF will do, because their friend tell him "oohh killer is on me"

i play solo and i can see cleary difference on my solo matches compere to my killer matches, i never have matches as killer agaisnt the same experience survivors i have when i play survivor.

its obviously not 100% of time, but certainly is the major percentage. And of course you can solos super coordinates on match, but, this is to much rare.

I still do the things I do in SWF in solo as well. Meaning that if I know someone is on death hook I will take the aggro instead. I know I am not the only one who does this. So my problem with people thinking that every one of those types of moves means "SWF" is incorrect. Because unless they have hardcore proof, its really simply speculation and often times because they are doing bad as killer so they would rather blame it on speculation.

T-Bags are designed as an insult and a gesture of disrespect to your fellow gamer, and thus, the definition of toxicity.

thats why i never hooksave survivors that i had observed teabagging the killer, just like i dont hooksave people which names refer to the 3. Reich or known Nazis.

Gee, what about if I have to crouch in order to cleanse a totem, does that still count? Will it also corrupt my soul if I do it?

Imagine caring about T-Bags that much you throw the game. 😂

If I see a lobby with no aura perks and like 1 CoH, 2 PTs it's obviously a SWF. They always deny though "We ArE SoLo" cause it's baby mode. That's not even getting into obvious giveaways like matching cosmetics or names

That's still speculation though. Which is exactly what I am referring to.

  • I don’t understand why people think that just because you got stomped it means they are SWF.

Lately I’ve been playing more solo queue and while yes a lot have been trrrible, there is also those people who KNOW what is up. By that I mean they aren’t scared to take a hit or even a down. Needless to say first things killers say is “nice SWF”…

Like I just wanna know at this point what equation are people using to assume “omg another SWF” because doing things that they should be (solo or SWF) isn’t it. I’m starting to think killers like solo bc of how unreliable they are.

So you seem to be comparing killer to survivor so you should be saying "Is 4 BNPs equal to Blank". Can 4 BNP's with good perks beat a good blight? All but the top few % yes. People really give survivor too little credit. Comp means nothing. Especially on survivor side, just means you pre throw and hold w/ work efficiently on gens. In fact I went against a full meta comp team today and only one of them was a good looper but even then he still held w and pre threw. Plus infinite salt in the end game chat. BNP will always have an affect no matter how small you think 25% of gen in what 10s is.

Agree to disagree. Because I don't think you are capable of understanding what I am putting down. I am not comparing killer to survivor at all. I am comparing RNG on survivor side VS RNG on killer side.

The question isn't about 4 BNPs, the question is does a BNP makes that much of a difference under the circumstances I listed. No it does not.

  • Right because a tea bag apparently wins you the game faster? But a mori wont?

I guess T-Bags must break people's souls at this point.

I may have misunderstood what you said. Did you just say BNP's have zero effect on a match? True and eruption really doesn't do much either.

I said WHEN THOSE RNG THINGS ARE IN PLACE...things LIKE a BNP have 0 effect on a match. Here I'll list them:

    • Small maps with no notable worthy pallet as resources.
    • Killer is a comp Nurse/Blight with strongest add ons.
    • Killer has complete blown out gen regression load out. (Including those that could easily UNDO what you just contributed to with a BNP)
    • Killer Camps/Tunnels every single hook.

You really think your BNP is going to compete with all that? I'd like to see it.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 116
