Or they all killed themselves on the hook, one after the other, because once the first guy does it, there's really no point in sticking around.

So? My point stands... Low points shirty game...

did you miss the tutorial? who cares about BP im maxed out.. Survivor wins are escapes and killer wins are kills. Are you simple?

I am not a simpleton. Points dont matter but if all of the survivors have about 10K and killer has 15K the game simply wasnt good. There barely any interaction between the killer and survivors. Or they all died in 2 minutes.

Survivor escaping is not a win in my book. Killer killing everybody isnt necessarily a win either depends on how the game went.

So if they tunnel you, they get you out of the game on one hook?

Sounds like a GREAT reason to tunnel.

If they already tunneled me once at 4/5 gens, by what logic would they not do it again...?

  • @dezzmont said:

At red ranks I know for a fact that if I am rescuing someone and I don't take the chase for them, they are going down, because the killer wants to win. Don't be a selfish twat and rescue then hide, your just feeding hook states to the killer, be a grown up and protect your buddy and let THEM get to safety while you use your full health and full hookstates to loop em.

At red ranks, I know for a fact that if I don't do my absolute best to pressure the survivors and threaten them as much as possible with a terrible time, I will lose VERY badly. 1 chase is 3 gens at red ranks unless you are keeping multiple survivors off gens. I do not have TIME to let you 'have fun.' The game is tuned so that killers need to do SOMETHING to keep 3 survivors off gens at all times. That usually means slugging, tunneling someone out early, and generally making things rough for weak survivors.

Or, put it another way: Tunneling is the DEFAULT. It is what is going to happen every game unless you do something. If you aren't doing anything to protect the teammate who is hurt, to get the killer's attention, or otherwise convince them that the fastest way to stop gens from getting done is to do something other than take out the person who is the weak link, who only takes one more hit to down? They aren't going to do something else.

And because this is so vital to winning, saying 'Bluh bluh bluh not fun for the person being tunneled' is selfish and asinine. Know what isn't fun? Throwing the game for yourself because the opponents are bad and aren't protecting each other. The killer's fun is not less valuable than the tunneled survivor's fun, but the tunneled survivor lost the right to complain about what happened to them when they messed up and the killer earned the right to stay in the game, and their team when they refuse to take the chases for em.

Dude I can sometimes give the killer 2 free hits and they still tunnel the other dude.

I see it as an investment for the future of the game and not screwing over your teammates. You may not care what the killer wants, but the fact that you're giving it to them is why they'll just keep doing it. Why would they feel compelled to change tactics when the one they're using works so well?

Just out of curiosity, what do you consider a "decent chase"?

Long enough so that I can temporary forget that the killer is going to do it 2 more times.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2036102#Comment_2036102

Learning to counter strategies you have trouble countering does make you play better, though. And death is not a counter, it's literally giving the killer what they want. Working on gens for 4 minutes to win or staying on a hook for 2 minutes to help your team win won't suddenly make you worse in every other aspect of the game.

You have to realise one thing. I dont care what killer wants, because they dont care about what I want. If the killer tunnels/camps early, I am no longer in a match. I am either playing chase simulator for the rest of the game (which isnt so bad if the chase is decent) or gen simulator which is boring.

There is literally nothing to learn from camping. When it comes to tunneling you only learn something if you are being chased and the chase last long time.

I dont understand which portion of it isnt a time waster in your eyes, but in mine it is. I know all the endings of that match.

  • @kesLV said:

Omg this people who come to forum and complain about how someone is playing.. i think you should take a break from dbd and stop crying.. :/

    So then they win.

So you have rewarded the killer for his strategy. He wanted to win, you handed him an easy win on a plate.

    Perhaps, but i also won.

Since I was no longer in a game horrible game and I could go to another game where hopefully they dont repeat it.

per se..... stop equivocation. yes the kill to live and killers tunnel to win. Don't project your inferiority

I said it above, there is no such thing as play to win. Why? Game doesnt state when you win. You can escape with 5000 points. You can 4K with 10000 points. There is no difference between 4K with 12 hooks or 4 as far as game is concerned.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2036081#Comment_2036081

No, I quoted the right person. I quoted the person who would rather kill themselves on the hook than take one for the team so everyone can escape. I quoted the person who gets everyone else killed (with the possible exception of one hatch escape) because they'd rather get back into the queue than even try to play better.

Your thinking process is flawed. Staying on a hook for 2 minutes doesnt make me play better. Realistically it makes me play worse since I dont play the game when i am on the hook.

Doing gens for 4 minutes to then leave through the door with no killer interaction doesnt make me play better. It makes me play worse when killer actually goes for chases.

  • @TheDuhJ said:

How about Gens get done too fast without pop ruin corrupt etc

There are better ways to halt gen speed...

One of them is to force survivors to do them together. (would require some changes in game...

Second one could be forcing 1 survivor to die before last gen is done.

  • There is no such thing as play to win in this game. I want to play interesting games. I dont even have to escape to have good time. i dont have to get 4 kills to have good game. I prefer close games where you dont know how its going to end.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2036063#Comment_2036063

So you don't play to win?

Excuse my french, I dont mind tunneling if it happens once in a while. I literally have every second game where killer tunnels someone at 5 gens. This is waste of my time, waste of my teams time and you are accusing me of ruining the game? I really hope you quoted wrong person, otherwise you are a lost cause.

  • @NoxVeno said:

Why do lions go for the young?

Lions dont go for the young per se, they go for the weak/secluded animals. Also they hunt animals to live. If you tunnel someone to death at 5 gens it is more of a "small man syndrome".

  • @Orion said:

It's not for no reason, it's because they want to win. Same reason why survivors tunnel gens.

Not really because when they do it i stop playing. Its waste of my time so i usually get them to hook me and move on to hopefully a better game. There is no reason to tunnel at 5 gens...

It's only unfair because exhaustion perks are meta. Point of these changes is to make them riskier to use and not just nobrain pick in every build

You realize that every exhaustion perk with exception of Sprint burst have prerequisites. (Like you cant use it for 40 seconds and you cant use it if you dont have window/great fall/are injured/were in a locker for 3 seconds.)

I really like to use second wind as horrible perk design example. This perk has 3 or 4 prerequisites to activate it and then successfully use it. This is what you are trying to do by adding an exhaustion to killer perks.

If i run lithe i have 2 prerequisites. I need a window/pallet and i cant be exhausted. By adding exhaustion to multiple perks, you increase the amount of prerequisites. Assuming that killer takes 4 perks that can cause exhaustion, you have up to 6 prerequisites in order for the perk to work. In other words every single exhaustion with exception of sprint burst would essentially be useless.

  • @landromat said:

Tell me im wrong. Good Exhaustion perks (not mindbreaker or blood echo) and exhaustion add-ons should be availale for every killer. Exhaustion perks are powerful options without any downsides. Make it risk if killer can use exhaustion add-ons. Make survivors think if they want to use a perk that probably won't work because of it. Improve survivor builds diversity

You can start from buffing Midbreaker and blood echo

Midbreaker wouldn't be broken even with 40s exhaustion. Really. Even perk that makes survivors exhausted in your terror radius wouldn't be broken

Blood echo should make injured survivors exhausted untill they healed to make it viable

Bring more GOOD exhaustion options to killers and shake survivors meta. Thank you

You realize that huntress already has addon like that. That addon is unfair if you use anything but sprint burst since every other exhaustion has requirement.

If you want to add exhaustion when you use certain perk. I want a perk that also has ability to instantly destroy lit totems. Or a one that rebuilds walls/pallets. Or one that disables killers power/addons/perks.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

No, DS is a problem because you CAN do interactions with it such as gens and players already don't care to heal until whatever they are doing is done.

Your idea allows this as well as it has no counter play so imo the upcoming DS is way better, also this directly tells the killer who has DS so again no.

No it doesnt tell killer who has it. Since you can disable it on purpose to use it later.

  • Devils advocate: Why should my perk deactivate because someone else used it before me?

Also you are mistaken. After the update DS will be used almost exclusively by people who will try to be offensive with DS+UB combo.

  • @AsherFrost said:

So I find a tunnel the hell out of the weakest Survivor, then it's free 1 hook kills on everyone else?

Just a thought, that seems like it would really upset some people.

I said that idk how it would affect tunneling. But i guess if you want to go with extremes. If same survivor gets hooked instead of debuff people would get speed gen buffs.

  • @Kellie said:

    Flat out no.

    But why.

  • @dezzmont said:

The idea of 'Hook Corruption' as base kit: Survivors lose X% of gen speed (33% makes sense, maybe 25%, or maybe more for first hook, less for second hook to prevent endgame scenarios where everyone is crawling to finish a gen) per hook state lost.

This does a lot of good things: It rewards killers for hooking via a tempo win no matter what, so they feel less compelled to slug. It slows down the game overall without slowing initial gen speeds. It doesn't help the killer at all if they camp, as the survivors they aren't hooking are repairing just as fast, and it discourages tunneling, as eliminating a survivor on final hook is still technically better than hooking a fresh survivor, but not by much at all so if the fresh survivor gives a free hit its almost always work taking it on them.

Basically it solves the entire problem of the hook dynamic for killer in that right now hooking survivors is CRAZY UNREWARDING unless your already super ahead or think it will get you more tempo via you being able to get a chase off that hook state (AKA, at LEAST patrolling it), and gives a more mechanical reward for excellent play that isn't 'constantly drive survivors off gens without actually advancing the game until you do it like 16 times' which, while totally doable as a good killer, is kinda... unfulfilling and very frustrating and non-intuitive.

Ultimately the camping/tunnel problem won't ever get better without some sort of buff to killer tempo that makes player elimination not the ultimate goal for gaining control of the timing of the match, as the only way to ensure gen speeds slow down is basically get someone out of the game, which is why killers focus on that so amazingly hard. Until killers have other ways to slow gen speeds that are more interactive, its still gunna be tunnel, slug, camp all day every day to snowball, get the critical tempo shift, and win matches. It also would add tension to getting hooked again, which the game sorely needs. Survivor is always mega boring if you don't give a ######### about your first two hooks.

Not only would you have to nerf every single slowdown perk you would have to nerf all the killers that have slowdown as part of their basekit. Then you would have to buff every item and perk that affects gen speeds.

After you did all that you would have to convince survivors that its worth staying in a game with 33%+ slowdown. People already dont want to do gens for 80 seconds why would they want to do them for over a 100.

Lastly it wouldnt change a thing about tunneling or camping. People would still do it.

So in the end while it would give killers another thing for hooking a survivor. But it would take away reasons to stay in the game for survivors.

  • How many times did you wiggle out with flip flop? Becuase thats what you have to compare it to.

Surviving 20 seconds off an unhook isn’t hard especially with your exhaustion perk up. It’s good for when your teammates doesn’t have bt( very common in solo) so long as your a decent looper

Dont create best case scenarios to prove that a perk is decent...

I can literally make Monstrous Shrine look good this way. So if you have 2 people on a hook in the basement chances are they will reach second stage before somebody can run past me blocking the entrence to the basement. Therefore pretty solid perk in current meta.

Inner strength is literally better version of second wind. You can do it at best up to 5 times. Also takes 20 seconds. You can heal when you choose. You can choose to be healed by others. Doesnt get cancelled by getting hit.

  • @Phasmamain said:

My go to build uses autodidact alongside it.

This helps with getting the full heal if someone has self cared or been healed a bit by someone else

It can work as an anti tunnel measure as if you get the heal mid chase the killer will probably give up as to not waste too much time

If not just get on a gen and be efficient with your time.

Sure the only effective part is the heal but healing passively is very powerful considering how much time healing can potentially waste in a match.

It’s pretty solid right now imo

It doesnt help tunneling if you get hit before 20s mark. BT does that job better.

If it allowed me to use jet pack in a match maybe it would be solid.

  • I feel like it sounds good on paper, but as soon as you put it in you realize how OP it would be.

You cant counter that. Muscle memory on survivor would kill you. If you add lag delay on both sides and great update that add even more latency to the game.

  • @Hyd said:

Same boat but you don't even need software experience to be able to call bullshit on that statement. Where did they actually say they "can't revert" to the old UI? I know they said adding additional customization (such as size, position, opacity, etc of individual elements) would be 'not simple' to pull off but I don't remember reading anything about having no way to revert. That's just pathetic, if true.

Well they 100% can go back, that's for sure. The thing is they can't actually do it. If they actually reverted the update, everybody would know that any change is revertable. That's not good for anybody, on top of that if i used resources for something thats ######### i would also try to justify why it should stay in.

  • One way to nerf spirit would be to make her lose sight as soon as stands still... You never stop moving as killer in normal circumstances.

For example lets say you are at the pallet spirit stands infront of it and loses her sight (has spirit world view of the world). She can follow scratch marks if there are any (if there are none its a guess). If she moves she regains the sight after 1 seconds(or more).

A nerf most people want is something that affect sound and would be hard to balance

Well, in this scenario, you get punished if you don't put your hand in the boiling water because the alternative is that you're preventing the game from ending.

If you are the person who will not do gens 2vs1 because killer might get you. You are a noob that just got the game lets be realistic here.

Now this game never states that you cant hide forever... Turn the game on and show me where is it mentioned or even the game's description. You only know that because you are on the forum.

So at the end of the day, you either punish the people that dont know "made up rules" or people who dont care. In other words it doesnt matter.

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1940388#Comment_1940388

Killer can definitely take the game hostage if they body block the last Survivor without closing the hatch.

This shouldnt be even considered a hostage situation. Survivors are not doing gens because the best way to escape is to hide since killer will patrol the remaining gens. Killer have to paroling the gens to find and then hook them. In my eyes survivors are taking the game hostage since they dont do gens and the killer is taking the game hostage because killer doesnt allow them to do said gens.

What about when the Killer is scouring the map but the Survivors are deliberately going out of their way to not be caught and still not doing gens?

Why people try not to put a hand in a boiling water? Because they know whats going to happen when they do.

    1. So in this specific scenario, gens are boiling water and you get burned when you touch them... well you get hooked not burned, but hopefully you get what i mean.
    2. First point applies always. Now even if killer chooses to let them do gens (for example) by virtually staying still, it will not work. Until each survivor sees that you are AFK as a killer (and make sure that you are actually AFK for a long time).

This doesnt apply to people that dont give a #########. Also majority of people that play this game long enough will try to do a gen just so they can die and move to another match.

  • The problem i have with "taking the game hostage" is that only survivors can do it. What i mean by it killers can do something equally annoying, but since the game progresses its not taking a game hostage.

In that specific scenario where you have 2 survivors left and lets say one gen left (realistically amount of gens in this scenario doesnt matter). Killer objective is to kill the survivors. Survivor objective is to escape. "Secondary objective" for both sides is to do a gen or to protect the gen. Only one side can realistically do the secondary objective so what exactly do killers expect from survivors (especially solo)

  • Umm, seems like an awful idea

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

Correct, but they have to be literally standing on you.

If you make any noise the perk is useless. Thats because if killer hears grunts of pain regardless of the volume they will look for you and 9/10 you will be found. Now you could say killers should be able to find injured survivors and thats fair, but in this game there is no such thing as 50% noise reduction.(You make sounds or you dont).

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1935611#Comment_1935611

Crouching reduces your noise. When combined with no mither, you make virtually no noise unless they are standing on you.

    You still make noise

  • The problem with grunts of pain is that it you can either be heard or not. If you dont have 100% iron you will be heard and therefore anything below 100% is useless.

EDIT: Please stop trying to nerf every survivor meta perk. There is not enough good perks in the pool. On top of it without iron will there is no stealth builds. Which in turn makes meta ONLY second chance perks (except for fast vaults)

  • @Hyd said:

    "can't play legit"

The Killer's job is to kill. However they do it, whether you like it or not, is legit. I admit it sucks and is not fun being camped or tunneled or slugged but, if they're able to do that, then you are failing at YOUR job to stay hidden, and to win the chase if found.

Learn to accept it, learn from it, move on and improve so you do better next time.

Would you have a problem with having lets say 10% chance that all 4 survivors do nothing (basically afk)?

Because thats the amount of enjoyment one can get from camping/tunneling game. It would also be legit.

The amount of point a killer would get would be about average survival score after camping game.

Before you say yes, realistically you could have multiple games with 4 afk people.

  • Well... People were whining that killers pip system was unfair so i guess they made survivor pipping system equally good.

I know but the thing is.You would have to think of something that wouldn't be too strong or too weak and then give the other side something that properly compensates it for those changes.

It would make DbD an absolute balancing mess.

I definetely wouldn't be opposed to camping or tunneling changes but i just think it's too complicated to make it work.

Its already a balancing mess adding more wouldnt change a thing

  • @BlackRabies said:

No, survivors would just abuse it and dive bomb the hook or just run around the hooked victim just screwing the killer over.

Then just make it work until ECG or until there are gens to do.

Fixing tunneling isn't as easy as you would think it is and would require some buffs for the killer side in order to compensate for that.

At the end of the day dealing with camping and tunneling is matter of teamwork and personal skill.

I didnt say give everybody DS and slow killers down. You would probably have to give killer something as a base and maybe increase amounts of gens. Alternatively add more things to do for surviors... Like idk blood fountains where you have to use them X amount of time per match for the entity to be satisifed and allow you to leave. (You can give blood by getting injured at the fountain or if you die on hook fountain collects certain amount of blood automatically)

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1920683#Comment_1920683

If you wanted to implement all those changes you would also have to make some changes on the killer side to make these 12 hook games even possible.

It's too complicated to do that however so i would rather not want the devs to waste resources on that

Whats the alternative? Do nothing? I can live with camping because its almost impossible for counter right now. But tunneling should be fixed. The only way to make killers stop is to make it harder to go for same person.

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1920386#Comment_1920386

The thing is,how are they supposed to do that?

They tried some things because they know it can be frustrating to deal with but those thing were easily able to be abused so they had to scrap these ideas.

If the devs intend to change DbD to a 12 hook game then we would have to change a LOT of other things to make it happen.

As you see,it's waaay to complicated to even try changing it.

Reverse bloodlust and temporary debuffs... Alternatively make DS base, make the timer 15 seconds but make it pause if killer chases you. Alternatively make BT base and make it work on every unhook.

Thats the only way to fix tunneling. If killer knows that everybody has DS or BT (or both) it might deter them from doing it.

  • Not by much... The only difference is length of the stun and how how long you its active...

But doesn’t prevent the survivors entirely from starting repairs at the start of the match.

DS doesn’t function “there’s a 40% chance you may or may not get a difficult skill check”

Well corrupt has literally same timer mechanic as DS. So you just have to use the time you get. And realistically survivors should hide until corrupt is over but nobody does that

It really doesn’t matter whether DS is perceived as anti tunnel or not.

The point was that DS allowed survivors to progress objectives freely for 60 seconds, whilst killers are being punished by DS for simply trying to progress their own objective.

We don’t have a killer perk that prevents any survivor from touching any gen for 60 seconds simply because a survivor successfully just repaired another gen. Because that would be silly: punishing survivors for simply trying to engage in their objective.

DS is bandaid fix for tunneling/camping that was implemented back in what 2017?

Because if you’re safe enough to progress the objective, you don’t need a free pass/free escape.

So if there are 2 people left i should not unhook people in order to keep my safety net?

So if I momentarily (I say momentarily but at the time you in the chase you wouldnt know that) lose the killer in the chase I should continue to do nothing just in case killer catches up to me 5 seconds later?

I should let people bleed out on the floor just in case killer comes after me instead?

So you are telling me that DS, a perk that discouraged the killer from going after the same survivor is not an anti-tunnel perk? Also, if you are working on gens or healing, you are not being tunneled. Case closed.

I didn't tell you anything you assumed that. I said that it was never an anti tunnel perk because it doesn't help you when you are tunneled.

At best it was anti pick up perk that made killers think whenever they want to be stunned if the person they tunneled have this perk.

For this perk to be anti tunnel it should give the killer reverse blood lust. That would force killers to go for someone else. Because they can't catch someone if they have run at same speed or slower.

If a killer is tunneling you (like for real tunneling not the survivor definition of tunneling) then you won't be able to do any sort of action because you'll be to busy running and trying to find pallets to loop and what not.

You also won't be able to use that perk if you are tunneled for real if you loop the killer for more than 1 minute...

Also even if you get downed before that, they can slug you for a few seconds then hook.
