First impressions is that it mighttttttttttt be better? You just active it whenever you think you'll be hit over a window. Now you'll also get a nice speed bonus to run across the map whilst the killer is swiping their blade. Or activate it when you think you won't reach the pallet. (Of course you'll have to be close though).

Also better for desperate unhooks, taking a hit for other people that are being tunneld, etc.

And you can time it perfectly when hearing the start of the hit swing and you have everything, no dmg, free boost, killer stun after successfull hit... it will heavily increase the chases time.

  • @jesterkind said:

No. What they did, at least imo, was incentivise using it one of the two major ways it was used, while completely removing the other major way it was used.

New DH can be baited out and played around, it'll require skill, timing, and good reads of the killer before you'll get any value out of it at all. It might still be annoying, but it won't be a free chase extension.

No they combined both ways to make it a more OP perk.

Before you could avoid the hit with two ways of using it :

    • dodging the hit when launched but if no safe place around = gaining some time but still dead
    • preventing a hit to be launched by using the distance gain to reach a safe place = not dead in safe place

Now they combine both and it is even worst.

A well timed DH will now allow the survivor to tank the hit and the surv will be granted a speed boost to reach a safe place. It was impossible with the old DH.

So now = not dead and in a safe place 100% of the time

  • @Mozic said:

    * Killer gets a score event

    * Killer can activate on-hit perks like STBFL

    * Survivor gets deep wounds

    * Survivor cannot rely on being able to use DH to extend loops after revealing they have the perk, because DBD Twitter confirmed the animation will still be there and the killer can just track who has revealed DH and bait it out like we already are used to doing

Seems like a better exchange overall than the current DH to me

Well if hit validation is working as intended (which was the case 80% of the time till now), even when revealing they have the perk to the killer, they will still be able to use it.

Playing with sound, just trigger it when you hear the swing.

So in the MMR tests and them explaining what they did I find the grade section most interesting as the devs clearly states it's a good system but the real issues is when good players dont play in awhile and get reset...

So theory, grades is better because it's not just based of kills/escapes. However because of rank reset it can be an issue and without it people will often reach a certain point or the maximum.

Could we remove rank reset and remove the safety pip option (you either win or lose) and then each killer has their own grade. (These grades can be hidden just to not confuse people)

Summary: use grades, remove safety pip and rank reset and have each killer with a separate grade. Have a tight range in grade matchup (iri can only match with iri, purple with purple etc.)

Grade reset without changing the grade color, grade 1 reset to grade 4 etc... no problem anymore.

Aren't you arguing logically then that those perks aren't overpowered? If it didn't change the outcome whether you used it or not then their power level relative to the perks you did use was the same.

Ye turn it as you want, it didn't change that even without them the killers were still too weak to end chases fast enough so why survivors should benefits from perks helping them even more in chase ?

If a survivor can perform perfectly without those perks, why should they be able to use all those second chances perks ? To make it even easier ?

  • Nevertheless, they are able to dodge perfectly a non-lunge attack. Sometimes they completely disappear behind a wall. No scratchmarks, no blood, no moaning anymore.

This has happened to me so many times, okay so there is a chance that they were cheaters.

  • @cburton311 said:

How is dead harding for distance any different then, lithe, sprint burst, or balanced landing. They all grant 150% speed for 3 seconds, which if I am doing my math right is a ~5m distance gain on the killer (4m/s * 150% = 6m/s for 3 seconds = 18 meters of distance traveled, killer travels 4.6*3 - 13.8 m or 4.4*3=13.2 m depending on running speed).

After dead hard do all these other perks need to get nerfed next?

Of course, perks should grant the user of the perk an advantage when used?

Yes they must all be removed. If you know how to play you do not need those perks. There are way too many loops for those perks to be used.

If you rely on them to perform, it means you are a terrible player.

There has been a period where i didn't use any of those perks and well it did not change anything to me, i was still as strong as before.

  • @cburton311 said:

So your saying that as a good killer, there are no strategies for dealing with a 2m distance gain?

Against good players there aren't as they will often use it to get to a safe pallets/window.

A DH well used = extra 30 seconds of chase minimum, sometimes it can go to 45 seconds if the map layout is OP.

There are way less casual killer than casual survivor, and from business perspective it only makes sense to favor the bigger consumer base, add to the fact survivor mains way more likely to spend on the game.

And as you say survivors outnumbering killer 1:10. So is it makes any sense to lose so huge amount of consumers and playerbase?

For what? So that killers can have effortless 4K all the time.

Before evening too much killer and you need to wait up to 10+ min to get a game.

As said dbd is life are survivors, should be respected more, instead caving to killer main demands who want 4k all the time perklese

If there is no killer left, there is no DbD.

Thinking it is a good strategy to favor survivors is the worst business decision BHVR has taken (as it is what they have done for 2 years straight now, favoring survivors).

BHVR are trying to develop a killer bot cause there are not enough players in this role... I hope you will enjoy to play against bots cause it will happen this year, be sure about it.

Its a lie spread by streamers, like Dowsey remember before MMR he had 4k games 200+ in a row, and he is angry that can't do it anymore, he loved to destroy newbies before the game didn't had any mmr.

Its true there is player decrease but what you see resident evil fans leaving the game, its only natural, the 100k was a big spike, which now goes back to normal.

If you didn't notice the game always loses players from winters to spring, you can check at march-april the player numbers always the lowest. You will see an increase in may, provided that the survivor nerfs won't make players quit

The game has never lost so many players during months.

Moreover saying that the 100k peak was thanks to the RE chapter is a general lie that many in the community believe or want to believe.

The RE chapter has been released in June 2021 (15th).

DbD reached the 82k peak and 50k average players in May 2021, prior to the RE chapter release date.

Today's playerbase is as low as the one DbD has had in March 2020.

If you think the game is in a healthy state, you are delusional, clearly.

There is a difference between having constant 3k+ cause there is a weak link in the survivors team and being totally powerless with most killers at high level.

High MMR is 80% Nurse/Blight with some Spirit. All other killers are non existent because they cannot be played.

Also the decrease in player count has just started with the SBMM/CoH release. The community is massively leaving and there have been polls with 30k+ votes saying that the SBMM is the main issue.

Well I agree that 4 SWF on comms are broken, but you can't balance around that.

Yes I mostly play as solo, with a good SWF group I had same results.

The main thing balancing around 4 SWF is going to destroy the game, most would quit

Then remove the SWF option :).

Cause high MMR is like 75% SWFs now.

And well i don't know if you have noticed it but most players are already quitting. The most well known streamers have massively left. The average players count on steam went from 62k to 30k in a few months.

    It is over.

Pretty much unplayable if the players are competent and communicating.

I don't expect to win all the time but feeling helpless is utterly stupid.

That is the high MMR experience, such a great competitive and fair feeling.

    Killers possible strategies :

    • chasing survivors -> between 12 and 25 safe loops/jungle gyms + DH -> cannot win
    • slugging -> unbreakable and exponential -> doesn't work anymore
    • camping/tunneling -> BT/DS -> doesn't work
    • hit and run -> CoH -> doesn't work anymore

Every killers' possibilities are countered by the maps' design and some perks. Everything, killers are powerless now. And killers have not a single efficient counter to the survivors' gameplay mechanics. It is either a hex that is cleansed in 30 seconds or a power with an uncalibrated design (Pinhead chains' time for the survivor to get free is too low they can still continue to loop most of the time or Billy's chainsaw too long to charge coupled with the slow down walking speed...).

Well it's like all timings are off for the killers, on purpose.

One of the games yesterday I had a 4 DH team. I got a 3k but it wasn't even fun it was too annoying.

Ye it is driving me crazy as well.

    All my trials i have 4 DH/2 BT/2 Unbreakable/ 1 or 2 CoH + some increase gen speed perks.

    It is unplayable πŸ˜‚

But here is the thing, nothing prevents a killer from playing "dirty", if they were buffed to be able to win without using any tactics that would make them extremely overpowered. Doesn't matter how " unfun" is if the game allows it then fair play, and every good killer plays like that.

That is why the devs have to rework the maps first and the hook designs.

But players liek you will cry cause if you find the survivors weak atm with the current 10 strong loops/jungle gyms state of the game, if a balance work around the map is done, you won't be able to deal with it...

Yesterday I played on EU, I got instant games as survivor morning- till early evening.

After early evening-night I had to wait 3-5 minutes for a game.

So its not bad in my region at all.

    Nobody using exponential

    CoH got nerfed several times

    DH probably gets removed

    Icon system will never come

Cause during the day there are less survivors playing cause many do not want to play soloQ. Killer being soloQ all the time, you still have killers playing the whole day.

Now there are 17k players on steam, this evening it will be 35k. Number of killers won't change through the day.

What you have to look at is the queue times during peak hours, that's all. And during peak hours, surv queue times is 10 minutes in EU; as a killer it is instant.

    Everybody is using exponential.

CoH didn't get nerfed at all unless from the PTB to Live release and it was a slight nerf.

    DH will never be removed.

Icon system is in the road map.

Sry but i think you are playing at a below average MMR, and maybe soloQ, that's why you do not see how strong the survivors are.

Sunday evening, 10 trials with my SWF :

    • we won the 10 games (3+ escapes)
    • 3 killers have DC'ed
    • all were mad at the end of the trial
    • none of us had DH/DS

Ye okay survivors do not need a nerf, go on let's go 100% win rate πŸ˜‚

  • The funniest part is when you have outplayed them but "Oh, DH is here", 2nd chance baby πŸ˜‚

  • @Piruluk said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2911303#Comment_2911303

No issue for killers either, it's just player skill issue.

See streamers doing 4K games 50 in row, if anything killers overpowered, its just easier to blame the game than learn to play. After the nerfs probably we will see 500+ games won in a row as killer with 3-4K

Nope they do not since the SBMM has been released.

And well i guess you have never faced those streamers. I have played against Otz and True multiple times since the SBMM release.

Otz is ALWAYS proxy camping/coming back on saves to get free hits. He is also often tunneling. The way he is playing is really not fun for the survivors and many DC... but i understand why he plays like this, it's the only viable strategy.

True however is never camping nor tunneling and he doesn't come back on saves. He has always lost the games he has played against me while i was soloQ.

There is a huge problem as killers cannot win if they do not play fair. Check the last Otz' video, he is explaining that winning as a killer is not a problem if you play extremely dirty but who has fun doing this ? No one.

  • @Piruluk said:

DbD's huge success was always thanks to the fact that playing survivor is so much fun, easy and casual friendly(+ licensed killers survivors/killers ).

The recent constant nerfs on survivor side since years is getting quite worrying. As you know there is a talk about gutting Dead Hard to be useless and 2 killer getting buffed, a map reworked to be killer sided( massive dead zones), Circle of Healing made useless for solo, and of course healing will also gets nerfed to take forever.

No new perk allowed to be meta for survivors. Example would be Boil over or parental guidance, or in the past lucky break rework nerfed into ground, all of them destroyed by killer main demands.

The only item worth is bringing now is medkit as survivor(thanks to toolbox nerfs, hatch nerf so keys are useless, flashlight only good for killers) the question is how long since soon even healing will be taken away to suit killer main demands.

The point is the game getting very hard for casuals and devs have to really think whatever is it worth to lose huge part of survivor playerbase.

Constant nerfs ? What are you talking about ? Last changes for the survivors :

    • Circle of healing
    • Exponential
    • DH server validation
    • Hit server validation
    • Soon the icon system

ATM there are not enough killers for the number of survivors playing. Actually it's the killer playerbase that is hugely hurt. And why do survivors are also leaving ? Because they are bored to have 10 minutes queue times and to face only Nurse/Blight.

And you are totally wrong on everything, you might clearly be a baby survivor as SWFs i face often bring multiple brand new parts and gen rush is insane.

  • Upping your post for the devs to see it.

SBMM must be removed asap. If not, next month average player count on steam will be around 25k.

Mark my words, devs won't be able to say they did not know.

  • @AngyKiller said:

Developers: Hey! You know Killer Hexes? Those things where only 3 are at all worth the drawback?

    Players: Yeah...

Developers: Why don't we give them to Survivors, make them infinitely reuseable, and make them even BETTER than Hexes!

    Players: Wait, really? Why?

Developers: Yeah! And you know how healing literally negates a Killer's progress? And how medkits promote tunneling, which Killers get threats for? Why don't we make a Boon that does that 10x faster! In an area of effect! And can be reused forever with 0 cooldowns or drawbacks of any kind! Survivors can literally heal in the time it takes Killers to wipe their weapon after an attack! Or behind dropped pallets!

Killers will either have to tunnel, and get MORE threats, or spend time they don't have snuffing the totem! At which point, Survivors can just re-apply it, meaning removing it is literally a lose/lose for Killers!

    Killer Players: πŸ˜”

    Survivor Players: 🀩

Yes, this is a rant. Yes, I know it's being nerfed (again). Yes, the nerf is the wrong thing being looked at. It's not that it heals too fast (in spite of my snark); it's that it has 0 cool down, infinite uses, and removing it is basically like spitting into the wind; you're hurting yourself more than anything else.

I just hate this perk so much and literally no other perk in the history of DBD has made me want to stop playing more than this one..

    Do you understand :

    • why DH is still here ?
    • why play with your food has been added ?
    • why ruin is sometimes too strong and sometimes too weak in a "competitive" game ?
    • why there are 25 pallets on the game ?
    • why there are tons of windows, sometimes creating infinities that you can't block with bamboozle ?
    • why on some maps you have 2 to 3 LT spawning face to face ?
    • why BT is usable to do a protect hit instead of only to avoid tunneling ?
    • why you can equip DH/DS and being under BT all at the same time ?
    • why there are still strong items for survivors to heal in 5 seconds and repair gens in 40 seconds ?
    • why they implemented the curve possibility to Billy but made almost all the tiles impossible to curve properly on ?
    • why resonance of pain + dead man's switch is a possible combo - op when all scourge hooks are well placed ?
    • why hag can still set traps next to saves while other killers cannot place their power next to saves ?
    • why the nurse is still in the game ?
    • why gen speed is still so fast and why the killers are still forced to use 3 to 4 gen regression perks to just make the gen rush 1 minute longer ?
    • why they have locked the Oni rotation during the rush but forgot to fix the exploit to get 180 turns ?
    • why you need to use exploits with Blight to perform ?

Well i can continue the list but i'm tired of this. There is clearly a problem in the game design and the ppl working on it should re-think many things cause it is wrong but guess what, they think they are right and we are wrong.

Do you need us to tell you why all those flaws are in the game, unfixed for years, and why everyone, even the biggest DbD streamers are saying the game is garbage now ? Most of them have left the boat.

Don't you have an idea on why the game is this way ?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2910424#Comment_2910424

Actually no, most games are balanced around both high and low levels of play. And yes, this is difficult to achieve - but if you don't, you either have veterans jumping ship or a game that becomes incredibly niche and eventually dies out.

SC2 for instance introduced a lot of changes to help lower APM players get a handle on things.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2910433#Comment_2910433

Yes, generally veterans complaining to other veterans. And where it's not, I think those veterans have succeeded in creating a pretty powerful confirmation bias, where every loss gets blamed on SBMM. People tend to have rose-tinted goggles when it comes to gaming. That said, Otz and co. have gradually come around on SBMM and most of their current complaints are about the number of hackers they are running into - which is a very different discussion.

Sure - the game is tougher now for veterans. But if they aren't sweating, then some new players are getting wrecked. And to keep a game from basically fading away, you do need to help newer players out too. Veterans should be facing other veterans, that's the long and short of it. Throwing them new players to stomp won't keep them happy for long.

Regarding the actual system - it has flaws, and most of those should be fixed in the midpatch from what we know.

Kills for killer...I'm okay with that.

Survivor MMR is complicated. It should be more nuanced than escapes, but that gets very complicated if you want to avoid it becoming unnaturally inflated.

Yes, SBMM is flawed. A lot of those flaws should be corrected soonish. But 'perfect' is always the enemy of 'better', and SBMM is definitely better than ranks were. I started out under ranks and it was horrible.

SBMM is so much better that everyone leaves the sinking ship.

SBMM is hell for above average killers. And well, survivors are then camped and tunneled and it's hell for at least 1 and sometimes 2 survivors at above average MMR.

The game is totally unbalanced, there are too many loops, too many strong places, too many lockers, too many pallets. Do you know that you can pre-drop all pallets and you will hold most killers long enough for 3 to 4 gens to pop ?

Most games at high rating last less than 10 minutes. A killer can't do anything in 6 to 10 minutes.

For new players they can make them play on a "newbie" queue for the 2 first devotion level.

Actually, today the amount of killers camping/tunneling or instantly coming back on saves is outstanding, things that existed before but were not so predominant. Now it is every game, sweat fest after sweat fest, for both sides. Nothing is enjoyable. The game has become a frustration provider.

First game in my life that do this, and i have played competitively in important tournaments.

Sigh. And here we find another false dichotomy.

The entire idea of an MMR system is that it's balanced around everyone. New players will ideally face other new players, veterans will face other veterans. Getting destroyed as a newbie by a veteran isn't much fun, and frankly - I don't enjoy the converse either. I started out as killer (am only now beginning to learn survivor) and it sucked being unable to catch people because I simply didn't understand how to run the tiles and didn't have all the perks I needed and it sucks now if I get paired up against newbies, because a game without a challenge isn't great..

You don't really learn much being endlessly chimped by veteran players. All that happens is that people get frustrated and quit. You need scaffolding to learn stuff, and that means playing at your level.

This is why most games with matchmaking have some sort of MMR system. It's not being balanced around any specific group of players, it's being balanced around fairness - as so far as that's possible in a game like DbD. In a balanced match, the killer has an approximately 50% chance of killing each survivor.

Yes, this game has some balance issues at higher MMRs...but that's something that can be worked on.

I'm definitely still learning survivor, and it...doesn't work like that unless you're playing against a Pig or a Myers on The Game or something. A smart killer will bait out the god pallets or go and pressure elsewhere.

Balance doesn't come from a matchmaking.

When both sides do not play with the same weapons and when one side is highly favored, your matchmaking will never work.

At high level, without any restriction, killers cannot win beside Nurse/Spirit and Artist. Unless if you camp but if you want the game to be a camp fest, well it already is, then have good fun.

And unfortunately they won't be able to balance the game for everyone, one side will always be favored depending the MMR level.

Balance the game to have 50/50 at high level for all killers and at lower level survivors will be totally annihilated. Balance the game to have 50/50 at a low MMR and at high MMR killers will be annihilated.

Devs have to do a choice. Most games are balanced around high level of play. A noob doesn't know how to play the game, why should we balance a game around someone that doesn't know how to play ?

  • My main was Billy but he is pretty much unplayable now that my MMR is too high with him.

Not me playing but just sharing to show how impossible the devs made it for Billy. This map layout, those windows, those impossible tiles to curve.

GG devs, smart design choices. Smartest in the video game industry indeed, it feels as good as BF2042.

    No thanks.

Ranks was essentially random matchmaking and it was awful.

SWFs are annoying and I wish the matchmaker would account for them, but your suggestion would make it impossible for SWFs to get games.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2905925#Comment_2905925

    Why?

'Chaos and Insanity' generally means 'new players get rolled over and over again'.

MMR does work in the situation you are describing, just maybe not how you think. If you're playing at a high MMR on those killers, the system thinks that you have a roughly 50% chance of killing each survivor there on that killer. Whatever MMR bracket this is will likely be higher on your Nurse main than your Pig alt - but the challenge should be roughly equivalent.

I agree that the 'C' and 'D' tier killers need a buff, but that's a different discussion.

The CoH nerf and Hem buff should help against the healing meta somewhat.

And yes, if you keep winning, the system will pair you up against stronger opponents until you hit the '50%' sweet spot. I'm not sure what's wrong with that.

The SBMM system has problems - but it sounds like BHVR are well on their way to fixing them (just at their usual glacial pace). Even factoring in those problems, the game has felt far more even since the switch over from ranks.

Nice, first game in the universe balancing a MM around low skill noobs.

Go ask for an auto headshot on Valorant for newbie...

If you are a newbie, you learn it the hard way, that's called life.

The game is so balanced around newbie survivors that it is impossible for the high MMR killers to play against high MMR survivor as everything is OP for them.

Just try this : first chase, pre-drop all the pallets you find and use some windows. Of course use DH :). 3 to 4 gens are done against pretty much all killers. Try it 100 times, remove the trials against a Nurse and tell me how many trials you had 3+ escapes. It will be near 90%.

  • Don't worry, everyone is leaving. Your wish will be done in a few months.

  • And do not forget that this year survivors will receive HUGE BUFF that will definitely break the game for killers :

    image.png

Tired of dealing with SWFs ? Do not worry, the developers thought about adding a new feature to improve the soloQ experience. Now killers, you will have to struggle against soloQ almost as if it were a SWF. 😍

So yes, this change is indeed needed but many balance changes must be done before this feature is added as it will shift the unbalance even more.

Be sure about it BHVR, release this without balancing the game (better map layout, less pallets and less windows) and all killers, listen to me, ALL KILLERS will totally leave your game.

Dbd resumed in a single video. Everything that has been added and was a terrible idea. All these (DH, DS, BT) are band aids just for bad map design + bad loop design + bad hook design.

And this video just shows the experience you get when you try to secure kills.

And if you do not use proxy camp + soft tunneling to secure kills, i.e you are looking for a new chase all the time, you end up with 0 kill most of the games.

Here is a funny comment :

And yes, seeing how fast the killer population is decreasing and the 7:2500 ratio in queues, be sure that the questions asked about killer bot in the last survey are not "innocent". BHVR will have to add killer bots as there aren't many killers left. Once most killers you will face will be bot, you will all leave DbD for good, what is the point to play against a bot ? None.

    😊

Just a reminder when a team member played DbD against good players : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R98e-Y4Lu8w

Nothing changed that much, i mean they have made some changes but the bullying is still here.

Just my opinion but I'd like to get others to weigh in. From my perspective, he's OP because:

    - his ability charges up extremely fast.

    - he can do 90 degree turns while using his ability (I used to play Oni and I swear this wasn't possible back in 2020. Was this a recent buff?)

    - he practically knows where you are at all times if you're injured since the red orbs you omit can be seen by him

So you can't really loop him for that long (unless you're on a map that totally negates his movement) and you can't really hide from him if youre injured. And that's not even considering the perks that he'd have equipped.

    Thoughts?

Op because there is an exploit allowing 180 turn with his power (not 90 degree but 180 degree is possible).

Without that exploit he is too weak, on par with Billy.

    Well it needs a rework.

I have never had so many terrible games in a row. Out of 10 games 7 have been against Nurse, 2 against Blight and 1 against Bubba. The Nurse games have been the worst. People DC'd, go afk and I even got a survivor who was working with the killer. After I was hooked someone got downed really fast and the team just gave up so I tried to let go on hook to move on to the next game but one of the survivors was was tapping me on hook while the killer was smacking me. I'm at a point where I just want to stop playing. Yesterday my games have been just fine and when I played with a friend today i got some really fun games as well so I have no idea what's going on. Someone told me it's bannable if you ######### on hook so, does anyone know if that's true or not? I usually don't kill myself but if someone DC or the team just gives up then I rather move on to the next Nurse...πŸ˜ͺ

All other killers are crap. Don't be surprised why we always face those killers.

Nurse/Blight to stomp players, Bubba to face camp.

All other killers cannot do ######### against good survivors so no one want to play them.

You must blame BHVR for it and especially the ppl validating this game design. There are so many strong loops that every survivors knowing there way to loop will reckt any tier A and lower killers.

    Usually at high MMR :

    1st chase = 2 minutes = 3 gens

    2nd chase = 1 min+ = 1 gen + 50% of another one

3rd chase = all gens done + door at 99%

That is the state of the game. 3 hooks out of 12 for 5 gens done + escape (if you play chases and not want to proxy camp/tunnel). Of course, if survivors have items, it's worse. One time, i have played a game where all gens were done in 6 minutes πŸ˜‚. It is ridiculous.

Even BHVR knows that a trial needs a 10 minutes lenght to be fair (only 10 minutes+ trials are used for MMR) but they allow the survivors to be able to do 5 gens in 6 minutes, almost half the time required to get a fair trial.

I hope that some ppl at BHVR will see that it is not an healthy state for DbD and that some strong decisions will be taken.

  • There is not a single killer that needs a buff. The maps need to be reworked to bring balance.

The HUGE problem is the map layouts, that's what create the unbalance, mostly.

  • I'm locked in a circle where i face only the same killers again and again and again.

    image.png

  • More i play killers, more i see the game design's flaws.

It is impossible to win against good survivors (withotu camping/tunneling). There are too many counters to most killers. Also using camping and tunneling to get kills is just super boring, it is not playing, it is just waiting in front of my screen, there is no involvement from the player.

A "high" MMR killer facing good survivors with all tier A and below killers is like good survivors facing a strong Nurse/Blight/Artist.

Survivors hate the Nurse/Blight and Artist cause they feel like it is an unfair killer to face. It is exactly the same feeling that the killers (tier A and below) are feeling when facing good survivors.

This game is really bad for your mental health, more you play it more you are frustrated.

I clearly understand why killers are leaving massively and i doubt there will be many more left in 3 months.

At this rate, in 3 months from now we will be 20k average on steam, maybe less. Devs have failed to achieve a good enough balance for years now and they have forced us to play with their garbage useless terribly designed and non sense SBMM that everyone hate.

I do not expect then to fix the game at this point, i have played it for 5 years and honestly, it was way funnier 2 to 3 years ago. Now the experience is disgusting.

Awaiting for VHS and i hope to see most of you there when it is released :).

Right, but if the problem we have is a lack of communication, adding in an option that a huge portion of players cannot use to communicate doesn't fix that problem.

BHVR's suggestion would fix the problem more effectively, because it doesn't require sharing a language OR your teammates actually sharing what they're doing actively for you to have that information. If they implemented that action-icon concept with a few other changes like seeing your teammate's loadout in-game, that'd do dramatically more to shrink the gap between SoloQ and SWF. Some disparity will always exist, but that'd get it much closer to equal than voice comms a huge swath of people would get no benefit from.

Would be a perfect addition to the game but honestly, knowing how slow BHVR is, after this icons addition, it will be hell for the killers and this for 6 months minimum as every trials will feel like facing a SWF.

If they do this before balancing the game around the SWF play, the game will literally die in 1 month top as it will be unplayable for killer at all MMR level.

If a survivor plays perfectly (against anyone other than Nurse [or maybe Blight]) , they win 100% of the time. This is ok!

If a Nurse (and maybe Blight) plays perfectly, they win 100% of the time. This is very very bad, help me BHVR nerf Nurse (and maybe Blight) plese noooooooo!

Nope, if both sides play perfectly, survivors will always win 100% of the time with all killers beside Nurse/Artist and Blight. Against those last three killers, they will still win most of the time but a mistake could cost a victory from time to time.

Yeah but how hard is it to change that one thing about an older killer? They just recently changed her traps so they get triggered by downed survivors.

For them it is as hard as coding properly hair movements :)

I don't think people fully realize the struggle that's going on in the killer playerbase. We've basically been trying to push all killers to viability, or as close as we can get, in any way we can. And when we say viable, we don't mean beating disorganized solos, we mean beating efficient SWFs. Some killers literally don't have the tools to beat those teams no matter how good you play, simple fact. And we've tried to remedy this in many ways, but we've been blocked at every attempt as the months and years roll by.

We try to use the viable killers, the ones with the strong base strength, who may not even need add-ons to be strong. Examples of this are Hillbilly, and probably Blight soon. Those killers get nerfed because their base is "too strong."

We try to use unviable killers with their strongest add-ons so that they are, or come close to, viable because their base is weak. Examples of this are Clown and Pinhead. Those killers get nerfed because "their OP add-ons make them into a different killer basically".

We try to use perks to buy us time just to play, or to cut down on time to beat the race against time killers have to play. Examples of this are Pop, Ruin, probably Dead Man's Switch soon, or STBFL, Fearmonger, NOED. These perks get nerfed because they're "boring" and "way too strong."

We try to use a change in playstyle and strategy to generate more momentum and kills. Examples of this are slugging, camping, 2-hooking, 1-hooking, focusing on 1-2 people only. These strategies are probably getting nerfed because they're "uninteractive, unfair, and toxic."

So my question is, when all is said and done, what are we actually supposed to be playing like? It seems like we're pushed to either:

Play dirty, boring, sweaty, and make people hate us for it.

    Or

Play nice, fair, and get bullied if we don't cease to care about the game that we're playing.

Any way we play, we're not only chastised by others in the community, but we'll not be playing that way for long without expecting a nerf. Simply playing a certain way has people questioning things like your morals and character. And that translates to balance as well, because those same people will plant ideas in the devs' heads like, "This thing is unfair, so remove it. I don't like this, and if you don't fix it I'll auto-DC every time." As a result of this, we've seen killer nerfs that I could never have imagined in my wildest dreams. You don't have to agree with all my examples being unjust nerfs, but to name a few (or rather, many): Hillbilly, Pop, Freddy, dream pallets, Demogorgon, Pyramid Head, Marvin's Blood, Mikhail's Eye, Twins, Undying, Discordance, Deathslinger, Pinhead, Wraith, Spirit, Pinky Finger, Engineer's Fang, Larry's Remains, Flask Of Bleach, Thanataphobia, All-Seeing Blood, Shadow Dance Blood.

And there's many more where those came from, based on the popularity of a variety of killer nerf requests. Bloodlust is probably going, as well as Blight, Nurse, Twins, Artist, Hag, Pig, NOED. It's beyond parody. How can one side deserve to get nerfed so much? Why is killer viability treated like a taboo?

Just the fact that Corrupt Inter + Dead Man's Switch + Pain of Resonance combo became META on most killers show how broken the game is.

Equipping those 3 perks bring the gen speed to what they should be at base speed. In fact, all those perks should be base kit and still they are not enough to win against good SWFs on a regular basis (unless if you camp/tunnel of course).

DbD'stte of the game is in the worst state it has ever been, mainly because map design hasn't improved (even on new maps, most of them are beautiful but layout is garbage OP for surv) and because of the SBMM.

Survivor mains (most of the playerbase are survivor mains, let's be honest) do not even know the killers' struggle.

The only viable killers are Artist/Nurse/Oni and Blight and only if you completely master them.

Moreover, Blight and Oni needs the use of exploits to be able to compete, they are totally garbage without them.

Every other killers are way too weak at a high level of play. It would be okay if the SBMM was working but unfortunately, once you have reach above average MMR, the MM matches you with high MMR survivors to lower their queue times.

That is why most killers have left, all the remaining ones are camper/tunnelers or Nurse/Blight/Artist main, mostly.

Developers refuse to admit it but they have hardly failed and they are unable (or literally do not care) to balance the game.

    It would be easy :

    • smaller maps (8k to 9k m2 max)
    • less pallets
    • 1 LT max per map
    • 1 pallet/window jungle gym max per map
    • if there is a building, 1 window max
    • Corrupt/RoP/DmS becomes a built in trials mechanics and are no longer perks
    • DH nerf

Devs have said they have removed all the infinite but it is a big LIE. Many RNG spawn create infinites between 2 windows.

With all those changes, they can add a hook mechanic as the PH's cages to avoid the camp and the tunnel.

But no they keep releasing perks to bandaid the gen speed. To the point the killers can just use those perks and they cannot equip perks actually helping them in chase or map control. It is BULLSHIT.

  • @Crazewtboy said:

Took a few months break from this game and just returned recently. This was my first time playing killer to do some rituals that were stacking up. I tried playing like I always do (no camping, attempting to not tunnel) while trying to run some decent perks. Needless to say it is exactly how it was when I left and quit out. I can't play a lot of killers without a team of SWF stomping all over my playstyle regardless of what I do. Drop a chase? Next person runs while the one I was chasing gets on the gen. Chase the survivor? All the gens get worked on with no consequence. Finally catch up to that one survivor? Well it doesn't matter because they have Dead Hard and most maps have enough pallets to toss them carelessly and still have a few left when you are done. Worst part is this MMR system is supposed to be so great but I keep losing all 4 survivors for matches in a row and the games don't get any easier.

    So...

I decided to swap to my Leatherface, throw on a basement build and camp the life out of anyone who dared set foot for a save. I could only imagine the smug look being wiped off their faces as they all died and now I'm thinking about playing this way permanently because I'm tired of dealing with all the bs

Camp and tunnel, be as toxic as you can.

Devs have kind of promoted toxicity, unfortunately.

By the time you hook the first survivor, 2 to 3 gens are done. What can you do beside camping/tunneling ?

Moreover, the SBMM is so broken that even if you go down in MMR, the system will still give you higher MMR opponents to fill the queue and avoid 2 hours queue times for them.

Dbd is not a game of skill, it is a party game. The devs themselves do not fix the cheesy strategies. It is a chill game with gimmicks you can use to try to win, but at the end of the day it was never meant to be for skilled players. Even mmr reflects this (survivors can hide all game, take hatch and become high mmr). The game literally rewards no skill strategies. Why are you even here if what you want is a skill based game when it is a chill party game? This game is meant to have fun, relax and enjoy some funny moments and memes. Here is a list of games that fits you if you are competitive and do not want to lose for something unrelated to skill:

-Literally any single (or mostly single) player game, like Dark Souls 3. In these games, the only player who influences the outcome is you. The same can be said about coop games, since the enemy are just artificial intelligence bots, you will always have a way around their mechanics if you think hard enough.

-Any competitive game like Fortnite or League of Legends. These games were designed for strategy based gameplay and have as little cheesy strategies as possible, or if they are some, make them possible to counter.

There is no point in insulting a killer for using a strategy in a game that was designed for it. Besides, if you insult the killers, it can entertain them or they can block chat & profile messages. But if every survivor that does not like being camped leaves dbd, then the devs have no choice but to change it to save the game (because killer queues might get really long, there are a lot of survivors that hate being camped). But trash talking killers will not bring you anywhere.

Camping and tunneling must be removed. Devs should redesign hooks as the PH's cage.

However, gen speed need to be adjusted and BT/DS/DH should go away as well.

You are playing the hardest killer in the game to master. His chainsaw is literally the hardest power in the game to play. It takes a REALLY long time to use properly. Like, hundreds of hundreds hours. I rate him solid mid-A tier IF you actually master his power. If you're bad at billy and his saw and curving and looping with it, well, yeah it's gonna be rough.

You blocked out your first addon for whatever reason but you are using junkyard airfilter, which is complete garbage. It's not even good for people learning billy. He has a few different playstyles but the strongest are lopro chains + speed or double speed. His speed addons are engravings and using those you are able to curve more tightly and quicker at loops ie shack to down. Lopro and speed of course let's you do a second curve at pallets to get some crazy ass hits. I'd argue most players don't see enough billy players, let alone double engravings billy's and it has really specific counterplay that most people just.. straight up don't know. You can do some meme-y builds with other addons (double boots is fun on like, coldwind maps) and do alright but if you are playing to win and not dick around with the saw either one of those combos are strongly advised.

I really hate to meme but billy is a killer that requires good looping knowledge and mindgaming with his saw with no true anti loop basekit I mean, sorta is a skill issue. That isn't a jab, it's just fact, being a good billy requires a lot of skill that just comes with time and learning from your mistakes playing him and what you can curve and what and where you can get a hit at. There are some bullshit collision zones like twigs on trees but ya.

Take a look at gtVel's stream sometime, he's my favorite billy player and knows him inside and out and it will prove to you what billy is capable of to even high skill survivors. He's super helpful and always down to give people tips and advice. Sofareks also has a pretty solid video guide too. That being said I personally would have liked to to see video of your gameplay from this match. I don't want you, or anyone, to give up on billy, he's straight up one of the most fun killers to play and I want more people to play billy. And I want to see more billy's when I play survivor too.

Anyway looking now some gtVel's videos, he is impressive but he often has a hard time despite being a Billy top player.

Thank you for giving me his name, did not know him :)

Was funny, first clip i see he has said : "who are the devs that coded this to have 2 LT in a raw, i want their names" πŸ˜‚

Have not face a single good Billy for 2 years now.

Sry but this is a game design flaw. If you play dirty though (proxy camp/tunnel), you can win but if you want to play chases, you cannot do anything, especially on maps where windows can be spammed.

I run rancor on every killers just cause I find it fun. I usually get the obsession majority of the time. If you're stressing over a video game then get off. All I seen is you saying survivors are op and the game isn't fair. Are you even at high mmr cause if you are then you must really good. You're getting the sweats you wanted due to getting kills.

Getting to high MMR without even try harding.

First trials are against total noobs you could win against even if you give them 3 extra minutes for free. Then, after 3 or 4 trials like this you end up playing against try harders.

All my killers are against try harders. My Sadako is in the lowest MMR, i get average survivors and it is okay as she is terribly weak but my Billy/Pinhead/Nurse/Twins/Demo all are high MMR.

I face mostly SWFs (high coordination, information before they see me etc...) full of items/DH/DS/BT and great loopers. All have 2k/3k hours.

Then it is a never ending story, DbD will never give fair matches and everyone will leave.

Balancing the game is a must, the frustration is way too high now for killers and solo-Q survivors.

  • Just play Billy guys, tier B killer, not too strong, not too weak with average mobility/power.

Playing this killer will just show you how broken the game is, you will be able to see all the flaws from DbD, especially map design.

At a good level of skill you will see that you cannot do anything in many occasion, it's not about skill, there will be many situations where you won't be able to use your power and you won't be able to mindgame. You are forced to push the pallet drop.

When there are 15 pallets on the map, it's more than enough for the survivors to do 8 gens, really.

The map layout i posted is just impossible to play on with Billy. Spamming windows is enough for the survivor to never go down, it was literally an infinite impossible to deal with.

I invite everyone to try and play Billy till they reach a MMR high enough to see they cannot do anything anymore.

The perks that can one shot is devour, make your choice, starstruck and rancor. You can even run the tombstone piece to get rid of that person if they decide on blocking.

And why no one plays those perks at high MMR ? Cause they suck and they are way too much situational.

Starstruck = 30 sec 1 shot, who at high MMR cannot run the killer for more than 30 seconds without taking a hit ? Moreover they have a notification to know they are exposed. Why killers do not have a notification that a survivor has DH ? Ah ye... fairness

Devour Hope = is cleansed even before it is triggered, even more now with the boon era

Make your choice = useless for killers that cannot come back on save fast enough.

Rancor = 1 kill only, wow awesome

All those perks are situational and mostly useless. I haven't been one shot with the exposed status from those perks for more than 500 hours now, maybe 1000 hours, those perks are bullshit useless.

Play starstruck/devour hope/make your choice at high level and let me know after how many trials you succeed to get 1 down thanks to those perks. Honestly you will get 1 down every ten games, not worth it at all.
