They can make flicks different for controller and MnK. And frankly I don't like that my gameplay experience became worse to make controller flicks easier.
Oni flicks used to be harder but I found them more fun because actually pulling them off required a set up and you could be flared, making them more rewarding. Now they're super easy, you just wave your mouse in their general direction and the game just gives them to you.
How could they possibly make them different for M&K and controller? It all the same coding across all platforms. I think their intent was to change Oni so those on the consoles could use him similarly in power, and most of the global playerbase is on the consoles.

To have Legion killswitched during the Blood Moon Event especially, competely screws over anyone who planned to use this event to level them up. Please make it so that you can't enter a match, but you can still spend your blood points, especially during an event like this.
Like so many aspects of DBD, I'm thinking their coding would prevent this. It's always all or nothing apparently.

Ill respond to your points here, cause I think you are wrong about a bunch of it. But I do have some questions too.
Having ranks to climb would give players a clear goal and long-term motivation, along with a real sense of progression.
If you need long term goals there is devotion levels and prestige system.
It would also create a more competitive environment for players who enjoy tryharding, with more serious matches and better matchmaking overall.
I'm afraid most Killers and Survivors are not interested in competitive play only in Killing or Escaping.
Only a small group of people are into competitive, but they play that at tournaments.it would help separate casual and competitive players, allowing everyone to enjoy the game the way they prefer.
Most are only competitive towards winning, not above trashing on casuals. Like I mentioned before.
So the separation does not mean anything, you would still be able to go in play competitive and then go back out and play casual. Unless you forced this there would be no separation at all.My questions to someone who wants this System in the game…
- How many people exactly do you think want to play in the competitive mode if it takes longer to queue? at the promise of better matches for try-hards? what ever that means.
- Adding a second queue will destroy the queue time for the other, how do you justify this? Why would we accept this?
- At what point would these two queues start to damage the game in your oppinion?
In theory separating the sweats out should be a good thing, but I agree it isn't worth harming queue times. DBD simply doesn't have the global playerbase to support two permanent queues. 2v8 highlights this issue each time.

tl;dr No - he doesn't need buffs, starting powerless is balanced by Blood Fury being the strongest power, and let Blood Fury speak for itself to be fun.
1500+ games of Oni here, nearing on 1600. Oni is already a very strong killer and overall doesn't need buffs.
Oni starting the game with ZERO power is what distinguishes him from the rest of the killer roster, and is what gives him depth relative to other killers.
Starting the game powerless is balanced by and allows him to have arguably the strongest power in the game, Blood Fury. If you buff his base form, you probably have to nerf Blood Fury and that's a hard no from me. If I wanted an m1 lunge I would just play Michael, who is already a weaker, boring and easier Oni.
The point of "just avoid first hit and predrop everything" is what makes that first chase so interesting because Oni is desperate to get power asap AND the survivors are desperate to deny it. Oni is the ONLY killer where survivors can have a genuine true m1 chase, even Trapper has his traps.
You say he relies on survivor mistakes, but that's all killers except for S tiers. It's not like he's weak - even if getting power takes 3 gens he can usually still snowball a win.
I've seen multiple suggestions for him to start with some power but I don't like any of them. Blood Fury is what defines him, makes him fun and is why I play him. With all the complaints about new killers requiring a novel to understand there's an elegant simplicity to "injured survivors make Kazan angry and let him run around bonking people".
The only changes I want for him are an addon rework (except for Hull, Fang, Crutch) and revert to old flicks.
I thought Oni's old flicks were changed specifically to make him playable in power with controller? If so, reverting them would undo all that.

Valid options for this as I see them:
- Fix it so that dodging doesn't go for "fastest choice" and throw matchmaking out the window. At least then dodging doesn't ruin the game for 5 people.
- Remove the lobby entirely.
- Lock players to a particular lobby, so it can search for a new, good match while waiting for the person who tried to dodge if they do queue up. So, dodging becomes impossible unless they time themselves out voluntarily.
I don't think the lobby itself should be removed completely. It is iconic to the game and allows the killer to adjust their build based on items. Maybe some form of locked lobby is needed, where once their system does its thing there's no leaving?
Another here mentioned checking profiles & hours. This probably shouldn't be a thing either, especially concerning the vast majority of the playerbase cannot do it anyway and it's done specifically to dodge or not.
The only reason I see for it that has merit imo is sniffing around for "known cheaters and hackers". That's another topic entirely, and I agree much more needs to be done server-wise to combat it, but again most players cannot even check in the first place.

Matchmaking, and it's unhinged weed smoking cousin making everything worse called Lobby Dodging.

Behaviour, we know it’s been harder and harder to update the game for the Nintendo Switch due to its hardware limitations, and it’s not as attractive to upgrade due to a lack of player base, but with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 most of these problems could be solved, people will definitely be willing to try DBD with better graphics and 60fps (I’m also a PC player and I’d love to play DBD on a portable!) and the Switch player base will grow again (like back when the game first released on the original console). The Nintendo Switch version is obsolete, it runs very badly and the graphics are terrible, so if you have to shut down the Switch 1 version please do, it’s the only way for DBD to survive on the Switch. The Switch 2 has sold over 20 million units in less than a year, there is more than enough demand for an upgrade and people have been asking for one, so please Behaviour!
Yes I agree they should put out a Switch 2 version of the game.
As for shutting down the Switch 1 version they cannot do that. DBD is a live service game, meaning so long as the game can physically function at all on a platform and the console maker (Nintendo in this case) still officially supports it, they cannot abandon them.
-
I just don't think this game has the overall playerbase size to permanently support two queues anyway.

This isn't a one sided issue either. I sometimes literally cannot even get a match to start due to the absurd amount of dodging on both sides. It's extremely common for four or five people on both sides to dodge for whatever reason. It just delays the start of the match and is generally pretty annoying.
It also destroys their matchmaking system.

Wouldn't this question depend also on the input device being used?
For me I'd say Singularity and probably Trickster say are much more demanding with a controller, beyond the differences already with M&K.

While I too would like a console-only separation, I don't see this happening for several reasons. First off the entire point of CrossPlay was to combine the players not split them. Secondly, hackers & cheaters can inject themselves into any lobby even with CrossPlay turned off.
But the biggest reason imo would be the big streamers. Most of the huge content creators and all of the Fog Whisperers are on PC. With more than 70% of the global playerbase on the consoles this change would make queue times soar.

I feel it is unlikely any of these suggested perks would be considered for implementation.
Over the past three-ish years various changes to perks and game mechanics have been made specifically to change how survs on an hook and being unhooked interact with the killer nearby. These suggestions would undo all of that, and bring back methods the devs chose to minimize if not outright remove.
The part about slugs is too much imo, but maybe a time limit on it or something could possibly be made to work. Not convinced though.

New Killer Concept: The MetamorphosisThe Metamorphosisis a psychological horror Killer, capable of infiltrating Survivor groups by mimicking their physical appearance. A victim of clandestine laboratory experiments, she punishes trust and rewards careful observation, creating a constant state of paranoia within the trial.Visual AppearanceThe Silhouette:A distorted, asymmetrical figure wearing a tattered, chemical-stained hospital gown.Physical Traits:Choppy, uneven red hair and a mouth stitched shut with surgical thread. Her limbs are of unequal lengths; one arm is elongated and skeletal, while one leg fails to reach the ground, giving her a disturbing, limping gait.Body Horror:Shards of laboratory glass are embedded in her skin, with intravenous needles and IV tubes still hanging from her wrists.
Weapon: The Scavenged ApparatusAn improvised blade fashioned from broken laboratory equipment, surgical steel, and jagged glass shards bound together by medical tape.Power: Adaptive MimicryThe Metamorphosis can suppress her physical form to mirror the subjects of her obsession.Ability - Mirror Image:By activating the Power button, the Killer opens a selection menu to choose a specific Survivor currently in the trial. After a brief channel, The Metamorphosis transforms into an exact replica of that Survivor.Undetectable Status:While transformed, The Metamorphosis hasno Terror Radius and no Red Stain. The Glitch:Every 20 seconds spent in Survivor form, the Killer’s body undergoes a subtle, involuntary "twitch" or "spasm"—a visual cue that observant Survivors can use to identify the imposter.Reversion:The Metamorphosis cannot attack while transformed. Pressing the attack button initiates a1-second reversion processwhere she regains her original form and weapon, allowing her to strike.
Special Interaction: The Memento Mori (The Final Experiment)The Metamorphosis pins the dying Survivor to the ground in her original form. As the Survivor struggles, she begins a violent transformation, snapping her bones until she looks exactly like the victim. She then performs a "surgical procedure" on the victim using her weapon. In the final moments, the camera reveals the Survivor’s reflection: they have died wearing the distorted, monstrous face of the Killer, while The Metamorphosis stands over them, wearing the victim's face and smiling.Wouldn't comms automatically defeat any mimic killer?

Comms isn't the strongest factor when it comes to solos vs. SWF imo. Being about le to choose your teammate is far more powerful.
You know what they're running and why. You know if they're doing a challenge/daily/adept etc. You know they won't let you get to second stage if possible, and that they'll come back for you. Over time you learn their strengths and weaknesses and tendencies too.
No way most of that can be replicated among solos.

That is exactly my point: cross play is every platform - Meaning that everyone who installs DBD gets put into the "every platform" matchmaking pool by default.
This leaves the other matchmaking pools completely dead, so the cross-play option becomes mandatory if you want to find a match.Let me visualize it:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/HDR2555DTQRC/cross-play-on.png
Now, since the game functions pretty much the same on Xbox, Playstation, and Switch, there's no reason for them to even have their own matchmaking pools. But when it comes to PC, it would be nice to be able to match with only other PC players.
Here is a visualization of what I'm suggesting:https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/V1680FUOJIIZ/cross-play-off.png
All this does is provide better options to players on both platforms, and both pools would have a healthy playerbase.
With this, console players could also opt-in to using game chat, but people who want it off could also choose to keep it off.
I know you're saying that you don't see a difference… But that's likely because you play on console, so you don't notice anything different.
And it's not fair for you to claim that "discussions about chat is irrelevant". Maybe it is to you, but I miss it. And all I'm suggesting is to fix the default option and also make the matchmaking pools only split up into PC/Console so we don't spread too thin.
I've played this game since the early days, and chat was definitely more active before cross-play was introduced. But now that there's so many console players everywhere, nobody cares to type anymore because it's expected that a majority of players won't see it anyways, so people don't bother anymore.
And about crosshairs — They definitely should just add that as a setting, since a lot of PC monitors have it built-in. Might as well just implement it as an in-game setting for everyone.
Edit:
A lot of messages appeared while I typed this - Hopefully this clears up how BHVR could better split up the PC/Console matchmaking pools without spreading the playerbase too thin, which seems to be everyone's response/worry.From what I remember back when CrossPlay was first introduced, it's an all or nothing coding across all platforms. Seems to be a remnant of the original 2016 game when lobbies were peer-to-peer with the killer as the host, much like Custom lobbies still are.
When they ported the game onto the consoles the following year matchmaking was still isolated by platform. Adding CrossPlay threw everyone together, and turning it off reverts to the old system. They might not be physically able to change that.
-
@EntityNea said:
When you turn off cross-play, queue times are insanely long. I gave up waiting after 15 minutes (survivor).
One reason it's like this, is because the default setting for cross-play is enabled.
The problem with it being enabled by default, is that it takes players from all platforms and puts them into the cross-platform matchmaking pool - this leaves the dedicated matchmaking pool for each platform very empty.
It would make much more sense to leave this setting off by default (at least for PC). Because otherwise, the only people who end up in the non-crossplay pool are those who go out of their way to disable it, which ends up not being enough people.
The game is slightly different on PC and Console.
- Consoles have no text chat.
- Console killers auto aim at survivors when they attack.
As a PC player, I want to be able to talk to other players before and after the match. Feels depressing when there's a really fun match and I want to say something to the other players, only to see that they're all on console.
I also want to play against people under the same circumstances, not where some players have auto aim and others don't.
My suggestion:
- Please disable the cross-play option by default for PC players.
- Keep it on by default for console players, because they all share the same circumstances (auto aim+no text chat)
This way, we will by default have healthy player pools for the various types of lobbies. The way DBD's CrossPlay works is when a player turns it off they're not only isolated from their own platform with it still on, but also from all other platforms as well. That's why queue times are an eternity it you turn it off.
With more than 70% of the overall playerbase on the consoles, a PC player turning off CrossPlay would be waitiing for quite some time. In addition I don't see them forcibly setting it to off due to most of the DBD streamers and all of their Fog Whisperers being on PC.

What if they added a ping version of Kindred ?
Every 10 or 15 seconds or whatever a Kindred effect occurs for a few seconds while on hook, without the Killer Aura. The numbers could be messed with and tested out.
With that the perk wouldn't need changing, and solos could consider running another perk sometimes.

If you have a controller software program like gamesirs, steams or other ones you can get if you mess with the anti deadzone adding an initial and lowering the max or even lower the outer deadzone it can help with that slow then fast feel and make it more linear
Also doing a custom toggle curve which i have yet to figure out one that works so i jus mess with the anti deadzone because that makes it so its not so choppy
In all honesty though they need to make custom matches have an option to freeze all gens so you can test stuff more or like techs for certain killers
Same with customs for survivors they should make it so people can test perks in customs so we dont waste money buying to see its a pointless perk
I do not believe any of those suggestions can be done on a console.

Yeah he was farming me for stalk.
We lost that game. I died very violently. My question to you, as the game closes in on 10 years, is what misconceptions/mistakes did you make back in the good old days?
I vividly remember my first trial as surv. It was on an old blue McMillan against Myers, and i had no clue what I was doing.
He tiered up to 3 and I saw the "exposed" icon pop up. I took this to mean he could see me and I did nothing for many minutes just looking around for him, thinking he saw me and not that all of us were one-hit. He of course was no where near me. Best teammate evaaaaaaaaaaaa! 🤣

Dead by Daylight Concept
Killer Name: The Deceiver
Speed: 4.6 m/s
Terror Radius: 32m
Special Power: The Deceiver
This power has two abilities.
Ability 1: Self-Disguise
Activated by pressing the Secondary Power button, this ability allows the killer to absorb the DNA of the last survivor they hit and disguise themselves as that survivor. While disguised, the killer switches to a third-person perspective, their terror radius disappears, and their red eyes are hidden. To other survivors, the killer appears to be a real survivor — shown in an injured state.
This disguise lasts up to 2 minutes and has a 30-second cooldown.
While disguised, the killer produces no footstep sounds.
If the killer heals an injured survivor — or is healed by one — while in this state, the target survivor is put into the dying state upon completion of the healing action.
When the disguise is deactivated, the killer briefly slows down. Survivors within 5 meters suffer a one-stage health penalty, and survivors within 10 meters let out a scream.
Ability 2: Disguise Trap
Traps are placed using the Primary Power button and can be installed on generators, windows, and dropped pallets.
The killer holds a maximum of 5 traps. When all 5 are deployed and a new trap is placed, the oldest trap is automatically removed and replaced.
Traps installed on structures are visually indistinguishable from normal structures and cannot be removed by survivors.
However, if a survivor is currently disguised as the killer, structures with traps installed will appear to have chunks of red flesh attached to them — though they still cannot be removed.
When a survivor interacts with a trapped structure, they appear to other survivors as the killer. While disguised as the killer, that survivor:
- Cannot be healed
- Cannot interact with generators or other survivors
- Emits a terror radius and red eye glow
Survivors can remove this effect by interacting with a Cleansing Fountain found at various locations across the map.
This effect lasts for 1 minute.
If a survivor is already disguised as the killer and another survivor interacts with a trapped structure, that second survivor suffers a brief muscle tear (Haemorrhage effect).
Perks
You are deception, manipulation, and trickery itself. Throw the survivors into confusion.
Perk 1: Right of Way
When a survivor vaults a window, all other survivors must vault that same window from the opposite direction.
This effect applies to up to 2 / 3 / 4 windows and lasts 5 / 6 / 7 seconds.
Perk 2: Short-Tempered
You reach fury faster, and your movement speed increases when enraged.
- Bloodlust activation time reduced by 0.5 / 1 / 1.5 seconds
- Movement speed during Bloodlust increased by 0.5 / 1 / 1.5 m/s
Perk 3: Burning Vengeance
You do not forgive survivors who dare to fight back.
If you are stunned by any means 6 / 5 / 4 times, the last survivor to stun you becomes Exposed for 20 / 25 / 30 seconds.
Wouldn't comms automatically defeat any mimic killer?

except latency is very much a part of every online game where you interact with other players. You simply cannot see the same game state as every other player. In a 1v1 there's three different game states going on. Player 1's perspective, player 2' perspective, and what the server is told, and none of them match.
I am aware, but it seems to be worse for DBD than the others

a voice channel is always open when in a lobby on this game mode. The only way to not be heard is to use an official muting method from lets say your controller mic on a ps5, or a mute button on your external mic or headset.
That won't work for the consoles, as their comms are built directly into the machines, and are entirely separate from which game might be being played. DBD wouldn't be able to even know who's on comms there.
Plus for a game to be accepted by Microsoft or Sony they cannot interfere with comms in any way.

What you guys COULD do as well is make addons for Killers which makes power-attacks count as Basic-attack?
Is this something worth implementing??Wasn't the root of separating specials from basics the Nurse? Wouldn't such add-ons just undo all of that, with her in particular?

I would play ranked because having competent teammates is fun, not dudes who cleanse dull totems affected by thrill of the hunt, (just had a teammate doing that today, super frustrating and a massive waste of potential gen pressure) some who don't know how to play safe and counter garbage killer kits, and people who dc the second one little thing doesn't go their way
Comms should be forced and encouraged on ranked, and optional in casual/quick match.
How could they possibly "force" comms? How would they even know who's using them, especially on the consoles?

Oof I remember this. This was such a let down. DbD's graphics are not anywhere close to impressive enough for 60 FPS to be a difficult goal to reach.
If I recall their response, it wasn't the capabilities of any of the consoles themselves preventing it.
Apparently there's an issue with their coding that creates a resource bottlenecking problem that's insurmountable. This is why DBD is an unusually voracious gobbler of resources that even the strongest PC's can still feel. No other game I've played has such hitching and lagging within its own menus let alone in-game. 😕

This is why everyone should completely ignore these meaningless “roadmaps”. They have been empty promises for years and this time is no different. For those few of you who were still trusting that MMR rework was actually being actively worked on, it’s time to say “I told you so”.
Anyone remember the May 2019 roadmap setting the goal of 60 frames across all platforms? Like a year and a half later or so they admitted they just could not do it.

That’s mostly what the issue. Perks. I love surge and eruption. On multi floors though..yeah. For sure.
It's just obvious to me they wanted to make sure we cannot ever return to the 3-gen hold forever method, or that a single gen can be contested indefinitely either. The cost to stamping it out would be the killer defending a gen they feel compelled to.
Some of all that was surv's loathing for Skull Merchant and Knight (and maybe Doc) doing this back then, but without the synergy of certain perks it wasn't viable.
