  • Honestly, if you excluding set-up Killers like Artist, Trapper, Dredge, Hag, etc; Ive honestly been enjoying Killer a lot. Ive been playing a lot of Sadako and PH lately and having tons of fun. I stopped playing Billy recently because the invisible walls they added to stop SkyBilly was interrupting normal gameplay and I got tired of it.

Then again, I dont really care about winning, and I mostly just bring gimmick builds and experiment a lot. Frankly MMR is more useless than a bag of rocks sitting in a river, so getting casual matches isnt hard for me at least. If you are willing to accept that you will lose matches, and that MMR doesnt matter, the game becomes significantly more fun and less miserable.

Do I think some Killers Powers can use buffs? Yes, definitely, but I dont think Killer is as doom and gloom as people make it out to be. I feel like MMR has warped people's perception on the game by a large amount.

  • Demogorgan is fine, fun to play. But I miss having him in the game. I hope he comes back so I can buy him on my PC account and get them the collar cosmetics as well.

I feel like no one really plays Demogorgan anymore since people have kind of moved on. Youd think with the ability to teleport he'd be amazing in the Eruption meta but no one wants to manage his Portals to do so, there are just many Killers that can do what Demogorgan does but with less effort unfortunately.

  • I think it would be neat if Myer's stalking a Survivors slowly built up a debuff for them. That way you can strategize what Survivors you want to debuff and get T3 from, would add more depth to him.

Also would make him not useless when everyone is out that Evil Juice that I so desperately need. You could ever add a new Mori animation based on how much they are stalked or something, or even have the ability to mori Survivors on death hook without needing to bring an Ebony Memento Mori.

  • DBD Content Creators honestly just make the community worse sometimes. A lot of them focus on salt content since ya know, it gets views, but it honestly just further fuels the divide between an already split community since people use these videos to generalize and harass others.

DBD Twitter is an awful place and the Creators on that platform are horrendous with most trying to harass and attack others over the tiniest of stuff (RTSCoconut Incident is a prime example), and under DBD's social media posts is just absolute degeneracy and horny posts combined with people bickering and fighting over small stuff.

But things werent always like this, DBD's Community had to reach this point by the decisions of people which consequently affected others, so on and so forth, Content Creators are the forerunners of this in my opinion.

This being said, as you even mentioned, not all Content Creators are like that, there are a lot spreading positivity in the community, but so many Content Creators thrive and feed off of negativity.

  • I was trying to set up a KYF (Custom Match) a few days ago with some friends and we were having issues. People kept trying to join but would instantly get kicked from Errors. People would join the Lobby but not actually be in the Lobby. We spent like 3 hours trying to get things to work.

No matter how many times I face him if someone is tormented he just hooks them and done isn't the purpose of the torment to remove any perks that assist survivors because they get caged. But no matter what he never cages or is it because you can kill by hand which I see every pyramid head tunnel that tormented survivor. Simple just remove tormented if the survivor is hooked or caged because pyramid head is just a tunneling killer now.

Your Torment gets removed when you are sent to a Cage. Freeing another Survivor from a Cage also removes Torment from you. So if you play Altruistic you should be fine.

Also Cages teleport whenever Pyramid Head sits too close for too long, so normally it is best to loop around the Cage to force a teleport and safe un-Cage.

heartbeat is directional, isn't it? You may not pay attention to it but it does help you discern which direction the killer is coming from. And on low visibility tiles you can also get info from the proximity volume change.

The Heartbeat is non-directional, BUT, the pace and loudness is based on proximity. For me, I dont even use that for information, it's moreso just the existence of the Heartbeat that just helps in chase for some odd reason.

Part of me thinks it could just be something to do with the old days of Hex: Ruin, Tinkerer, and Pop Goes causing my brain to auto-pilot or something; expecting the Killer to leave me when I dont hear the Heartbeat anymore.

Open mindednness means "open to new ideas". Not "I've seen this idea and I think it sucks".

    image_2023-01-15_044308304.png

New OR Different From Your Own...

I.E. I use to hate certain Killers and Perks in DBD, but I kept an open mind and nowadays I actually really like them since I took the time to consider things and give them a chance.

  • image_2023-01-15_034158543.png

I never said "you said they couldnt enjoy it", Im saying to be more open minded since people enjoy different things regardless if you enjoy it or not. You clearly mock the idea of looping and how people enjoy it, so Im just saying that people enjoy it regardless if you enjoy it or not, and that you could be respectful of the opinions of others.

    That's it.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

No, people want to get chased because they are bored. They don't want to do gens or hide. Looping is the whole game to them. The vast majority of players that do this to admit to such.

What does open mindedness have to do with anything?

"And if people just enjoy being chased, that is their personal preference", I said it for a reason. Everyone has their own definition of fun. Some people enjoy being chased, some people enjoy interacting the different players (including the Killer), some people dont. Im saying to be open minded since everyone is different, they have different playstyles and approaches to things.

You might enjoy doing generators and hiding (not saying you specifically, but "you" as being a broad term for the sake of example), but others might not enjoy that, but DBD leaves a lot of room for people to play in different ways so I feel like you have to be respectful of other's opinions, etc.

Looping should be the CONSEQUENCE of getting found. The "Oh, crap?!" moment.

Today players bright flashlights, click at the killer, teabag them in their neon green cosmetics, and WANT to get chased.

People want to get chased because maybe they want to improve in that aspect of the game.

And if people just enjoy being chased, that is their personal preference, everyone is going to have a different opinion on literally anything so you have to be open-minded.

I think that's the first time I've heard of Knockout being used practically.

I use a lot of perks in weird ways.

For example, I use Tinkerer with Merciless Storm since Survivors are forced to commit to generators with Merciless Storm (and since Survivors tend to focus a lot on the Skill Checks), it lets me get some pretty easy grabs on Survivors.

I think DBD has a lot of variety in terms of what you can do with perks, a lot of players are just afraid to experiment or try new things.

  • Basement camping Demo is the thing you complain about? I havent seen a Demo in forever ever since their DLC got discontinued. On top of that, I feel like Demogorgan camping the basement is not as threatening as something like Bubba when it comes to camping.

1 hud will absolutely help solo and increase online

2 online dbd has always had waves from content to content (the exception was last year when the killers were so weak that no one wanted to play for them and therefore the survivors had queues of 30 minutes)

3 they never were, the strongest killers are blight and nurs, and they are available for in-game currency

I think they are talking about Killer perks. Eruption is meta, and it's a perk for Nemesis, so you have to spend money on it if it is not in the Shrine.

  • @Aurelle said:

I have been barely seen shroud offerings in general (except for that one time the killer brought a Shroud Of Separation).

Sometimes I use Shrouds as Killer because Survivors think that Im using a Mori only to be met with complete disappointment. Idk, something about it is just funny to me.

  • I use Knockout on stealth builds that way I can chain downs, it's been really effective on Spirit if you pair it with Monitor and Abuse, but I still wish they did something else with the perk to make it more fun or unique tho, I just wanted to say there are people who use it for something else other than slugging people to death.

I agree, Knight is able to camp generators EXTREMLY efficient.

But Survivors could just equip Deja Vu and not three gen themselves.

And if The Knight camps a 3-gen from the start of the match then what are we suppose to do?

The only counter is bringing generator repair perks, and if people prepare for this strategy every match (and since people run other killers) it would hurt every other Killer by proxy... all because of a single boring strategy people hate... just think about that for a moment.

And it's not like counter-setups are an uncommon thing either, back when Hens released his video of him holding people hostage with The Knight, I saw a lot of people doing it in my matches for the next week or so, so I brought BNPs every match which by proxy hurt people that were not playing The Knight. It just sucks to be in that type of situation, ya know?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/361125/do-survivors-not-loop-anymore

Looping is the single worst part of the game for me. I have no idea how people can not only claim it is fun, but somehow "the best part".

    Huh?!

Do you love NASCAR as well with all those left turns?

I mean, what do you expect Survivors to do when they get found? Just sit there and do nothing, Idk, sit in the timeout chair?

  • Giving the Killer a debuff on unhook is not the way to go imo. If the Killer goes for the Unhooker, they will still be debuffed for doing so, this will just lead to more tunneling since they are punished regardless of who they go for.

  • There is no cap to the amount of chests that can spawn in a Trial (unless you consider the maximum amount of Offerings and Perks in play to be a cap).

You can use 4 Shiny Coins and Hoarder (for Killer) to have 13 Chests spawn, but having that happen in a normal match of DBD is not really plausible due to the fact that you need everyone running Shiny Coins and the Killer to be running Hoarder (which is not likely, you need the stars to align for this to happen).

  • @Seraphor said:

...but, killers... already have First Person...

The difference between the two is how they move. If Survivors kept the same movement they have and were locked into First Person, it would just be a horrible experience.

  • I feel like people forget that, ya know, some Survivors also play Killer? Not everyone plays solely one side.

  • MMR is a wonderful thing (not really).

From my experience, it doesnt matter how good you are, you get a mixed bag of players. One match you get people that actually loop and know what they are doing, the other match you get people who camp pallets and hold W (only to get stomped when they run out of resources).

You will face people with a lot more variety nowadays because BHVR tweaks MMR when they see too many people complaining about sweaty matches. It leaves more room for Survivors to have more weak links that play in the way you mentioned because it's the only way they can keep up in the current meta.

  • @Blueberry said:

They should start by reworking and shrinking lots of maps. That's the biggest issue.

I mean they did it with Eyrie of Crows, who's to say they wont start doing it with other maps?

  • The issue is that there is not easy well to tell that Awakened Awareness was in play until it was too late.

It's not like people instantly know all perks the Killer is running, so with Nurse, most Survivors will try to hide instead of running away either for an unhook or to not go down with Starstruck, which would basically lead to the players getting downed immediately after the Nurse hooks because they know where the Survivors are, and the Survivors had no reason to believe Awakened Awareness was in play since it is the first down of the match.

But either way, Starstruck is dead with Nurse, and Awakened Awareness is still a good perk because it provides Nurse more early game pressure until the Survivors realize that it's in play. Hell, even on other Killers other than Nurse it's really good, Spirit and Blight can make really good use of it, and most low mobility Killers can still use it.

  • Hex: Hunter's Fuel

The Entity, with its blessing, has heightened your senses, you can smell the fear of your prey, and it fuels your hunt.

At the start of the Trial, two Hex Totems spawn with Hex: Hunter's Fuel effect applied to them, a token is granted for each Hex Totem still active within the Trial.

    • 1 Token: Survivors who heal one another are afflicted with the Oblivious status and are marked with Killer's Instinct for the duration of the heal. Once the healing action stops, this effect lingers for 3 seconds before going away.
    • 2 Tokens: Survivors within 8 meters of a Generators stop hearing the Terror Radius normally. Survivors with this effect will intermediately hear the Terror Radius approach and move away. This effect will apply any perks that involve the Terror Radius.
  • The Sluzzy "Killers will want Sprint Burst nerfed in less than a week" post still is stuck within my mind. Meanwhile Dead Hard has a 30% usage rate and people want it nerfed again.

  • I think the hugest thing should be designing Killers and Perks around the basis of SoloQ and SWF, using designs that work for both and is not overly oppressive to one particular group; Eruption for example, is a poorly design perk that is in the meta due to it being extremely oppressive against SoloQ, but the perk is useless against SWF.

Showing the Perks of teammates at the start of a Trial or during a Trial in the pause menu can help a lot more perks be useful as well. Perks like Deliverance will start to become more desirable, and meme builds such as Flip Flop + Power Struggle can finally be used without teammates wasting the pallet you are a sitting on, etc.

  • Music1.png Music2.png Music3.png Music4.png Music5.png Music6.png Music7.png

My personal Spotify playlist, I use it for playing Killer in DBD or long endurance runs of Survival in Warframe.

  • Aura Reading is suppose to not work on Killer that are Undetectable, so if it is revealing the Aura of the Killer then it is a bug.

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

I disagree with Grim embrace because if your version came out camping would be made even more viable. Cause 60 seconds of not being able to work on gens and the killer can straight up camp an entire hook state with 60 seconds.

the rest is honestly fine on Grim Embrace

The issue is honestly not the perk, but just how much camping is enabled through normal gameplay.

Ive said this time and time again, but the only way to ever deal with camping and tunneling is to introduce systems to deal with it, perks bandaid fix the issue and perks "enabling camping" is an excuse to hold perks back because the developers dont want to properly introduce measures to deal with it.

  • @AssortedSorting said:

On the bright side, it means you have more time to learn her counterplay!

Assuming the map has enough LoS blockers that is, lol.

That's the thing. DBD has a delicate balance, and too much weight can cause the whole thing to crash and burn, a slight nudge can cause several parts to bend.

If you introduce more LoS blockers to better deal with Nurse, ranged killers like Huntress get harmed, vice versa since too little LoS blockers help Nurse, and I really feel like people ignore that.

I think the only areas that could get more LoS blockers would be the edge of the map, areas that dont affect Huntress but CAN affect Nurse (considering that the edge of the map is already the best area to run her).

  • From my experience, swinging with some killers let's you go through it. But it is annoying that this is a bug nonetheless.

Purely time. There's only so many work hours to turn plans into something tangible.

Yea, I would imagine it being insanely difficult to get stuff done considering the amount of moving parts, and even then, sometimes it doesnt guarantee that the product comes out as intended, since releases are sometimes buggy (but yall do get things fixed) or require large amounts as tweaking, which we have seen with the Knight.

Thank you for answering the question tho. o7

  • @Peanits said:

At no point did we say that it is the only survivor sided map, we simply confirmed what others have been saying and outlined the work we've done to address this one. By no means is it the only one. You can make a case for just about any map favouring one side or the other.

As for the Killer changes, The Nurse has easily been the single most discussed Killer lately and warranted changes over any other Killer. The Knight was only recently released and as usual, we make changes to the most recent Killer in the following updates to try and fine tune their balance. They were definitely not chosen at random. Other Killers have changed planned, but there's only so much bandwidth for changes in each update.

Just a question while you are here. So yall have a lot of changes planned in advance, or at least I would assume so, so would you say the time to make those changes being the hugest limiting factor, or is it just the update size being too big for certain platform being the hugest limiting factor?

Try playing Wesker, Dredge, Sadako, Freddie, Nurse, Myers or Ghostface, or hell even Trapper. All of those killers can excel on The Game.

I would also love to add Wraith to this list.

Enduring + "Shadow Dance" and "Blink" really makes The Game an enjoyable experience. I use it a lot for Archives that require me to break pallets, and most of the time I 3-4K when I do it.

  • @illNicola said:

So, I organised some private matches with my friends where we put some rules in order to make everyone enjoy their match. Except from some stupid rules such as "Don't use the same killer two times in a row", we used the following:

    1) Both killer and surv cannot take red add on and objects;

    2) Survivors cannot use gen speed perks, with the only exception of "Hyperfocus";

    3) Killers can take only ONE perk that interacts with generators in ANY way;

    4) NOED banned;

    5) Keys banned;

    6) No tunnel/camp/slug (except when needed);

    7) No Nurse;

    The results were the following:

When chases were fast, survivors had more difficult to do gens and, without tunneling and camping, the killer could've win easily or at "medium difficulty", with short/medium chases

When chases last long, gen popped in a reasonable time, where the killer is punished for long chase but don't loose instantly if he doesn't camp/tunnel.

So, what did we deduce from this test? That this game, without gen speed perks and with max one slowdown perk is balanced also with D tier killer. As always, tunneling is born to counter genrush, if genrush isn't in the game killer doesn't have to tunnel to win. I can't wait to read who says "But killer will tunnel also if you fix genrush 1!1!1!1!" yes, because you can't fix one without fixing the other one at the same time.

So, if the game wants to proceed in an healthy way, on a balanced direction, remove gen speed perks, allow killers to take only one perk that interacts with gens, and find some ways to prevent tunnel and camp. I have some ideas, for example base kit barbecue for killer, to consent killer to go find the next victim easily, a base kit reassurance that work only if the killer is camping and not defending/chasing near the hook, maybe in combo with the same mechanic of pyramid head cages, that if the killer is camping the survivor teleport away.

So, this is my opinion, I tested the game without gen speed perks, without tunneling, camping and slugging and with only one slowdown perk for killer, and the results was that if the killer does short/medium chases doesn't get genrushed, but at the same time survivors that keep the killer in chase for a long time can make gens easier but without destroying the killer without a chance of recovery.

Sorry for my English, I'm Italian.

    "Sorry for my English"

No need to apologize, hell, you speak English better than most people I know, including myself.

  • It kind looks like you are holding her, like she is an action figure.

  • I think my issue is how incredibly open the map is. You can see most killers (tall and normal height) running over to you from across the map. Which particularly makes me dislike it with Huntress since you also have hundreds of tiny objects getting in your way.

If you're playing a game to have fun, why is escaping so important then?

I mean I dont care about escaping. But Eruption preventing every single action except for unhooking will never not make me upset since Incapacitated as a debuff prevents you from literally playing the game.

  • @Monlyth said:

Dead Hard encourages tunneling. Why commit to a chase on someone else when they have a third health state and the guy who just got unhooked has two, tops (With Off the Record)?

DH doesnt cause tunneling. The only thing that causes tunneling is the lack of a proper anti-tunnel system.

If the Killer is going to tunnel, it doesnt matter how many perks you throw in the way, they are going to tunnel. If they actively want to take you out of the game, they are going to do everything they can do it. The Survivor being unhooked for could 4 health states while the Survivor unhooking is Exposed, and some players will still actively go for the Survivor being unhooked.

Because tunneling (deprived from "tunnel vision") by definition means to solely focusing a player and until they either quit or you remove them from the game; this means actively ignoring all other players, even if they actively get in your way. "Tunneling" as a term has been distorted, twisted, and heavily misused over the years by players that seek to find means of harassing and attacking others, it's actually kind of annoying.

I was playing some oni earlier today, blood furied, dashed crossmap only to be deadharded through a flick. I dont get why dead hard works on things like billy chainsaw, demon strike, etc. abilities liker those cant really bait a dead hard effectively. While on that topic, plenty of killer powers have precise windows where they can be used for proper value, like a pig ambush or a wesker dash. weskers got 2 charges so its more reasonable but its still annoying when someone presses e like its just a regular lunge.

especially with oni. the fun of playing oni is the thrill of the demon dash, and dead hard completely invalidates it. either you just dash past (assuming they dont have a window/pallet nearby) and loop back around, then go for a hit assuming they fell for the fake. the same applies to billy, just much much harder due to lacking a-d strafing. had multiple games where demon dashings for downs wasnt viable because everyone stayed injured for 4 dead hards... was painful. not 100% on this, but i think oni loses power charge when landing a hit on a dead hard during fury.

not really saying it needs another rework, maybe just have it not ignore instadowns (except for exposed, lets not buff noed)

cant even imagine how billy mains feeling about dh lmao

"Cant even imagine how Billy mains feeling about DH lmao"

Billy main here, I dont mind DH, because even if they DH my curves, I still got the hit, which still does make for great clips, etc. Then again Ive always had this mindset of "I dont care about winning and only care about having fun", so anything that reduces my odds of winning does not bother me in the slightest... most of the time, since Adepts and Archives do exist.

PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation 5 can play Dead by Daylight comfortably at 60fps.

    AH HA HA HA HA.

Coming from an old PS4 user, I swapped to PC because the optimization was pretty bad.

If it's the start of the match and nobody is doing anything then yea youll be at 60 FPS, the issue is when any action that involve game progression cause major FPS decreases (unhooking, completing generators, etc.) which of course interferes with gameplay since those actions are always happening in the background beyond the start of the match.

Also a reminder that not everyone plays on the PS4 Pro as well, some people play on just your standard PS4 etc. Until the issues with next-gen Console stock gets fixed (which there are still issues with that, bare in mind), BHVR is going to have to make the game accessible for all last-gen Consoles it is available for until such issue is sorted out.

Same here in England. My internet is fine, about 550 down and 50 up. But I go into a match and it shows my ping really high and the game is unplayable. Was in a duo and my friend said my ping was showing on hers as 36 but on my screen my ping was at 310. But hers was showing 43 on my end but for her, it was showing like 400.

Is there something up with the London Server?

Not just in London, it happens in the US sometimes. Servers also sometimes abruptly just shut down resulting in everyone getting kicked and nobody getting BP from the match (offerings, items, and addons are not refunded either).

  • That's literally why you dont break all of the breakable walls, especially with Dead Dawg Saloon since the main building can create an infinite when breaking all the breakable walls.

  • You kind of just start playing.

That's all I can really say, as a lot of skills youll pick up on from playing Killer or watching others play Killer. People will always give you lists upon lists of ways to improve, but at the end of the day, the only way you can actually get better at the game is by, well, playing it.

  • Literally all of my friends have quit the game because of how awful the game feels.

Killers are no longer rewarded for playing the game well, since Eruption, Overcharge, and Call of Brine's regression applies without having to hook Survivors. So a lot of my friends just dont like the meta in the sense that they are rewarded for just playing the game.

Survivor, especially SoloQ, is not longer fun or tolerable due to Eruption just overall making the experience miserable. Which considering the fact that we mostly SoloQ or DuoSWF in a VC (never 4-man SWF), Eruption normally destroys us in matches with very little counterplay.

Of course, my friends said that they will reinstall and return to the game in half a year, or if large meta shifts happen for both sides. It is overall in the most unfun state it has ever been in. Hell, even old Legion going against pre-nerf CoH was unironically more fun than SoloQ going against modern Eruption.

  • Isnt this why EGC exists?

Since EGC only really benefits the Killer and is designed to apply pressure on the Survivor(s) for completing their objectives and/or failing to find hatch.

1 … 39 40 41 42 43 … 59
