I don't understand the point of this thread. You're a devotion 27 player. Do you think you should get matched with noobs? Are you mad that you have to play against competent survivors who don't give you an easy win? Isn't that supposedly the point of MMR? If you sweat by camping and tunneling then you're supposed to get teams like this. Don't get me wrong because I think MMR is silly and should be deleted. However it does seem like the system is working as intended here.

If there are no hook suicides, then just DCs. Think it's better?
Yea. There's a limit on how much you can DC before the penalties start piling up. If you DC multiple times you get locked out for a period of time and you temporarily are not able to ruin the game for everyone else. I understand people who give up against killers like skull merchant but too many people give up for seemingly no reason at all. It gets old and makes solo borderline unplayable.

If you do that on my team you are getting reported and a ticket filed for failure to participate in normal gameplay along with a recording.
It'd be a full time job reporting everyone who gives up against skull merchant.
-
As long as you delete all of the overpowered killer addons as well.
-
Just do what everyone else does and immediately give up when you realize it's a Skull Merchant. Going next is always preferable to playing against a Skull Merchant. Survivor rewards are so low that there is absolutely zero reason to ever waste your time playing against her.
-
Killer is still easy. Still maintaining a win rate of over 80% despite not being an amazing killer. I never crutched on gen kick perks though so it makes sense that I don't find the game as difficult as some people do. Escape rate is around 30% for solo queue.
-
Ignoring that these stats aren't really fully accurate... Skull Merchant kill rate is probably high because everyone gives up against her since no one wants to sit through a skull merchant game. I played against her three times last night and every game had a DC or hook suicide.
-
This game has no matchmaking. I chuckle anytime someone starts going on about how hard high MMR is when MMR doesn't even seem to exist.

I rather 100 games of Nurse or Blight in a row than a single Skull Merchant game
The pain is at least over quickly.

Delete this killer forever.

Why do you need to watch the devs play to settle your arguments? Twitch is filled with survivor players playing solo who are escaping most of their games. Watch any of them and you can learn how to play.
No it isn’t. Most of these survivors escape 30-40 percent of their games. Turn on someone like JRM or Ayrun. These are objectively good survivors and they still don’t escape much. You’ve got 10k hours solo players escaping less than half of their games AT MOST. What do you think the game looks like for average players in solo? Meanwhile killer main streamers with similar experience win 90% of their games. It’s almost like the game is rigged against solo and not balanced in a way that solo players have a fair chance to win compared to killers and SWFs.

I think the problem is because there is no an actual matchmaking system. Me and my friends have been playing DBD since 2018 and we get matched with a Micheal myers with 300 hours in DBD… but sometimes we get good killers.
And then when I played Solo Q, I feel like I’m in a low MMR lobby because my teammates play so weird. I had someone with TTV in their name and when I checked their devotion level it was 3 and my devotion level is 25 lol that’s a major gap.
tbh I don’t know how anyone can seriously believe mmr is real at this point. I recently saw streamer OhTofu get matched with a 50 hour survivor. This guy has 10k hours and a high win rate. How does this make any sense? Then you look at things like the 1000 game blight winstreak. If this game has a matchmaking system then it isn’t working right.
-
it’s a part of the problem but it’s hardly the only reason or the biggest one. Behavior getting rid of challenges that encourage you to throw the game would be a great start. Why we still have challenges to cleanse dull totems and open chests is beyond me.
-
Give powerful killers significantly stricter matchmaking so we don't get 5000 hour alchemist ring blights in games with 200 hour survivors. People who use alchemist ring blight or nurse have no business playing against anyone but the sweatiest 3/4 man SWFs.
-
TBH the game was more fun when everything was broken on both sides. Before they changed everything during the last anniversary.

I would love to see a "ban killer" option, I'm not too familiar with League of Legends but I am aware those gamers can ban someone they don't wanna go against.
While I'd love to see something like this come to dbd it'll never happen because no one would want to go against blight or their sweet precious nurse that they care so much for.
Blight mains bout to be waiting in a 45 minute queue.
-
I will add to this. Killers shouldn't be able to see hour counts either. Killers use this to dodge games and find easy targets to tunnel out.
-
All I want is an option to go next when I am being slugged for the 4K. Let me give up or bleed out faster. I shouldn't have to waste 4 minutes or potentially more because the killer just can't stand the thought of someone getting the hatch in a game that was never close to begin with.

@GannTM said:
I get not liking the killer, but can we stop with the whole “killswitch this unfun killer”? That’s not what the system is for, it’s only for game breaking bugs.
You're right. They should just delete the killer entirely.
-
Blight will be nerfed in some capacity soon. I'm 100% confident about this. He already had a high kill rate before the update. If this patch pushes it even higher then he will unquestionably receive some sort of change to make him more reasonable to go against. Things like the 1000 game win streak only serve to draw attention to how oppressive he can be in the right hands.
-
I don't like the game because of how ridiculously hard solo queue is. The OVERALL escape rate including SWFs is only 39% to begin with and that's without games with disconnects being counted. The solo escape rate can't be higher than 25-30% at best. It gets old losing and makes you not want to play as much. Meanwhile I can go on killer and easily maintain an 80% win rate despite not being an amazing killer. I used to occasionally play with two other people but they both quit because of how unfun survivor became.
-
Killers who tunnel are not going to stop tunneling because they made maps stronger for killer. It'll just make tunneling even easier. People also said they wouldn't tunnel if regression was stronger and people tunneled harder than ever during the gen kick meta. People will always play in the way that gives them the easiest win regardless of what you change.
-
Basekit unbreakable is way too strong. They just need to add an option to give up if there are two people left. The slug for the 4K thing is really old at this point.
-
Do you think killers would be happy for a SWF if they achieved a 1000 game win streak? Or would the conversation immediately shift to how OP and broken SWF is?
-
@IWasLrft2Die said:
Making killer less stressful and more approachable for newcomers would go a long way.
You think survivor isn't even more stressful for newcomers? You are ruthlessly tunneled out nearly every game when you're brand new. You literally get denied the opportunity to play the game and the worst part is you don't even have any perks to stop it. OTR, DS, etc are all locked behind DLC. I've tried to introduce people to this game and they all gave up because they kept getting tunneled out while they were trying to learn the game. Just look at which side currently DCs more if you want to see which role is more stressful.
-
One reason it's so easy is because the killer can lobby shop until he gets a lobby full of noobs. If you want to go a step further then you can also check their profile to see hour counts in order to find the weakest player. "Ok this guy named xXchasemeplz420Xx has 7000 hours so if I tunnel him then it might be risky. Meanwhile this other guy has 150 hours and is probably an easy target." It's kind of ridiculous that killers still get this much information about who they're playing against.
Tunneling can be countered to some degree with perks and skill but the people who can counter it are almost never the ones who get tunneled. I'm not a god at this game but I do notice that killers will often actively avoid me in favor of my less experienced teammates who have absolutely no chance against them. That's really the core of the problem. Tunneling is not an expression of skill at all. It's just a way to bully players who can't fight back. It's the equivalent of the toxic SWF that bullies the 100 hour trapper and acts like they're amazing because of it. Of course you're going to win when you tunnel someone who has no meta perks and can't loop. It's also why so many people want SWFs deleted from the game. They can't handle it when a team is actually good and there is no weak link that can be tunneled out at four gens.
-
- Best mobility in the game
- Best chase in the game tied with nurse
- Best addons in the game
- 1000 game winstreak possible
- Video evidence of cracked Blight (Lilith) destroying a team of cracked survivors at three gens (ayrun and other comp players)
This killer needs more than just an addon nerf. If Blight wasn't able to traverse the entire map in seconds then he wouldn't be as oppressive but i'm not sure how you could pull that off. You could leave the mechanics of his rush untouched but make him earn it the way Oni does. That way he can't just sprint across the map and get a down 20 seconds into every match.
-
Objectively I think It was a terrible map. I'd love to see it return simply because I hate seeing content removed.
-
You should be able to give up or accelerate the bleed out if there are only two survivors left.

That is not a skill gap, that is just a knowledge gap...
Skill is when it requires you to be able to perform something, looking through a hole in a wall doesn't require any skill.
Moreover, those checkspots are on most maps and in most jungle gym, you cannot play around them unless you play with the few anti-loop killers.
The entire game is knowledge based more than anything else. Very few things in the game require actual skill. Maybe really advanced blight or hillbilly gameplay but beyond that...
-
I love how killers whined about people saying "just wait it out" for dead hard and are now doing the exact same thing for hook grabs which create a similarly awkward situation for survivors. Removing hook grabs would kill facecamping with little risk and would not prevent killers from trading hooks. It's one of those things that only really works consistently on uncoordinated solo players anyway. A strong SWF can coordinate an unhook with proper bodyblocking without much issue. You can't do this in solo.

It would make more logical sense for the killer's WIN RATE to be 50%, which is different from the kill rate. This requires the kill rate to be higher than 50%, because a win for killers is a 3k or 4k.
The real kill rate is significantly higher than 60% though since they don't count games with a DC in their stats. This is only my experience but I'd say half of my solo games have someone dcing. I'd be curious to see the REAL kill rate since dcing is an undeniable part of the game atm. I also want to see the kill rate in solo vs SWF. They say it's not much different yet won't actually show us the stats.
-
because of how many people were holding games hostage for 30+ minutes by endlessly kicking gens. Killers brought those nerfs on themselves. Good riddance because it was the worst killer meta in the history of this game from a survivor POV. Shout out to people like Hens bringing attention to how ridiculous it was by making that video where he held a game hostage until the server shut down.
-
This is normal. Even streamers with 10k hours don't do much better in solo queue. Then people act shocked when survivors rage quit so easily.
-
I just want to know who reviewed this killer and said "yep this is great. let's release this". Like how did a million red flags not immediately pop up? Did they realize how terrible it was and just not have the time to make any meaningful changes?

@Caiman said:
It would be nice if survivors were awarded additional BP for how many other survivors escaped the trial. Getting something like 1000 BP for each teammate that survives would make me feel a little better about getting left on hook to die.
Though that would be impossible to calculate at the game results screen while the game was still in-progress, so that wouldn't work...
Survivors should get more bloodpoints across the board. A bad killer game is like 20k bps. A bad survivor game is like 5k.
-
Not a killer main but have played 7 matches as killer since the update. My worst game was two escapes on Cowshed. The removal of dead hard in particular makes playing killer significantly easier. Survivors not being able to use it in the first chase is MASSIVE and allows you to apply pressure much earlier in most cases. Two of my matches were as blight and nurse and there was nothing they could do against me. It was just down after down. I played hit and run with sloppy butcher as hag in my last game. The amount of time they spent healing was crazy. They might have gotten a few out without the healing change. The worst thing about the patch for killers is definitely the pain res nerf. I have used it in every game and have not been getting consistent value like I did in the past.
-
Telling people to get over it is useless because it solves absolutely nothing. People have been saying get over it for awhile now and the DC rate still continues to get higher with each major patch. We're at the point now where solo survivor is practically unplayable because of how often people either DC or kill themselves on the hook. What I do know is the DC rate was nowhere near as high when I started playing years ago. There's obviously a major issue with the game that is making it unfun for people. There are a number of possible reasons why.
- Perceived hopelessness. Can you really blame a casual solo player for not wanting to deal with another sweaty blight/nurse? It's going to kill someone's desire to play if they feel like winning is impossible.
- They think they're going to be immediately hard tunneled out and would rather just go next. To be fair this is the case more often than not. Being hard tunneled is not fun for newer players and I feel like it contributes a lot to why people give up so much. People who DC on the first down may have been tunneled five games in a row and it turns into a "here we go again" scenario that they don't want to deal with.
- You don't get any sort of meaningful rewards and there is no incentive to stay in game as survivor. You get significantly less bloodpoints than killer on average. Even in a bad game I will get 20-25k bps as killer. In a bad survivor game I might get 5-10k depending on how one sided it is. If the game looks like it's going to suck then there's really no material reason for you to stay in game as a survivor. You can just suicide on the hook and get a new game immediately.
You need to actually address these types of problems if you want the DCing to stop.
-
Skull Merchant by far. Historically I have hated Legion but Skull Merchant takes the trophy for most awful killer to play against. There is absolutely nothing enjoyable about playing against her. I can't wait for this tome to end so she hopefully plummets down to Twins and Hag levels of pick rate.
-
I only know my own experiences. I've only played six killer games since the update but my worst result was a two man out on cowshed. I've played upwards of 20 solo survivor games and escaped in maybe 4-5 of them. Every game is just my less experienced teammates immediately being hard tunneled out at 4-5 gens. Then everyone else just gives up. Either that or someone rage quitting because they got downed first. I think if you included DC games in the kill rates then it'd show that escaping as a solo survivor does indeed feel impossible. I can't even get the killer to chase me in a lot games. I assume it's because of high prestige/hour count + my teammates having lower hour counts. With the amount of dodges I see I am assuming killers just dodge until they find an easy target with low time played and then immediately tunnel that guy. Something should definitely be done about that.
-
Why stop at addons? His basekit along with nurse's basekit need to be nerfed. Is there an actual justifiable reason for these killers to be so strong in 2023? Dead Hard was always the main justification I saw for why these killers being OP was justified. Dead Hard is dead now. Healing is significantly nerfed as well which makes it even harder to recover against them. It's time to stop with the bandaids and bring these killers down to a reasonable A tier level. Killers that can go on 600 game win streaks should not exist.

Solo Q has always been trash. It was a bit more tolerable when keys were at their peak. It's a good mix of:
-Teams that lose in the first 30 seconds of the game but you have to wait another 5-6 minutes to actually die
-DCs/Suicides/AFKs
-Killers running absolutely busted builds that no solo Q team will ever beat
-Killer getting run the entire game by someone while you AFK on gens
-Actual balanced matches with some interesting chases
So I wanna say like 4/5 of the matches are typically garbo. I just play killer if I am solo
This is the best description of what average solo queue games are like that I have seen.

It never has been. But i feel like this patch is definitely another nail in the coffin for SoloQ. BHVR clearly want people to play in SWF and not solo anyway. This game is not for solo players anymore to have fun. In-fact, i genuinely believe that solo players are fodder for killer in order to meet BHVR's kill-rate statistic. Because i know that the majority of those 3-4ks are against solo players.
All killers do is tunnel and camp, because they assume every team they go against will be SWF on comms.
The thing is it's obvious when you're up against a competent team and when the survivors are a disorganized mess. Most killers don't care and don't change their playstyle regardless of what they are up against. They can have a person on death hook at five gens and will still tunnel them out even though the game is basically over. Killers say they tunnel out of necessity but my solo queue experience of watching my less experienced teammates get ruthlessly tunneled out in games that aren't even close says otherwise. I think a major problem this game has in general is games that are effectively over within minutes because of playstyles like this. No one gets any blood points. No one has any fun. Everyone feels like they wasted their items. Then you queue back up and the same thing happens again. I just don't feel like this sort of thing is good for the long term health of the game. Early game snowball needs to be looked at so that people actually get to play the game.

I have always been perplexed when people throw the "killer is harder" thing out there. Understanding the game to the level of being a good/great survivor probably requires a round 800/1000 hours in game. ive consistently ran into people with 500 or so hours that didnt even know there was 3 speeds in which you can vault a window. Map understanding is by far the hardest thing for a survivor simply because you are going to have to look behind you alot when being in a chase. Tile knowledge is also one of those things that even experienced survivors struggle with. My best advice for you would be to find a group of people in a discord, play in a swf more often then not because you can learn alot of things from others. I know this isnt something everyone will want to do. But this isnt really a game you just pick up and instantly be good at.
They're bad at playing killer and it seems hard to them. I win 80% of my killer games and 30-40% as survivor (solo). I will never understand how anyone thinks killer is harder than survivor. Playing solo survivor is the hardest thing anyone will ever do in this game and it's not even close. Every game is people rage quitting either by DCing/hook suiciding or a killer who thinks he's playing a comp match against randoms who have no idea what they're doing.
-
Solo survivor is by far the hardest role in the game. Nothing you can do about it.
-
It's a product of overall bad killer design. If you play a killer like blight or nurse then half the time the survivors just quit which isn't fun. Even less powerful killers like skull merchant and knight lead to the same outcome. Then of course there are so many killers which just aren't fun to play as. Wesker is one of the few that actually makes most people happy. I'd rather go against him than most killers in the game.

This language is completely misleading though, and I’m pretty sure you know better. It can be the most killer sided it has ever been while still massively favoring survivor overall.
There is not a single piece of data that says the game is massively survivor sided. 61% kill rate vs 39% escape rate at top 5% MMR. How do you gather that the game is massively survivor sided when numbers like this exist? How low does the escape rate have to go before the game is no longer survivor sided in your eyes? 30%? 20%? 10%?
-
Not terrible but a few I disagree with
You're underestimating how hard tracking as spirit is for most players. There are A LOT of bad spirit players. Definitely a higher skill ceiling than you're giving her credit for. Can you honestly say this killer is as easy as Myers? Easier than Wraith and Pig? Vanilla M1 killers are not higher skill ceiling than Spirit.
Clown's skill ceiling is much higher than you're giving him credit for.

Survivors DC way more than killers. I think I've had 9-10 killer DCs in all my time playing and probably a survivor DC about every third game on average.
There are 4x as many survivors. Obviously there's a higher chance of someone dcing for a stupid reason. A killer is just as likely to DC the moment they realize they are being outplayed. I'd say there is at least a 50/50 chance of the killer rage quitting when the game is one sided. I see it happen all the time despite being a solo queue player. I have no idea how you've only seen 9-10 killers DC. How many hours do you have? I've seen half of that in the last week alone.
