I imagine DBD to have two modes - casual and competitive. Same as it is with most of big games. I am honestly very satisfied with queue times and don't mind to wait longer.
In case there would be queue time problems, devs can make an option to select several modes/roles to speed up it up. This feature is already in Overwatch and other succesfull games. In DBD it could look like this (very rough concept just for visualisation):
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/8YZALANFWQHP/image.png
So in this case I chose to play Survivor Ranked. In SFW case Killer checkbox would be disabled.
Very pretty visual !
I don't think DbD has enough of a pool of players to sustain casual and ranked, and I'm unsure what the ranked mode even would be or how efficient it would be. If it was to mimic competitions (*shiver*) then it would put heavy restrictions at least on the survivor side, which then might skew the player distribution with lots of survivors queueing for casual and lots of killers queueing for ranked.
I haven't given it deep thoughts, but I'm not convinced spontaneously.
-
I'd honestly be scared of killer thinking I'm teabagging them and getting pissed at me. I'll pass, thank you very much.
-
Perk search bar !
Hiding prestige pre-game too =)
-
I always enjoy a peaceful match. Reprieve among tenser games.
I wouldn't engage, but appreciate the quiet.
-
I rather like the new CoH. I've taken it a couple of times to try it out and it seemed appreciated by the solos in my lobbies as well, though running to the boon is not always the most efficient choice.
I'm sorry, though, for all the solos who had to crouch and emote for me to realize they were waiting at the boon and that it was why I could see them. I'm an Aftercare user so I'm used to always having a couple of yellow people running around in my field of vision !

I might have said this before, but I really like your username.
Noted and appreciated ! =D

Same !

Most people I encounter are really fair and nice.
-
I think it's very funny ! Especially if it's in reaction to a player's name.
There's nothing wrong with spicing up games a little by playing in varied way. Like betting everything on endgame.
Last weekend, I played with a couple of friend and ended up against a Blight on Shattered Square. He seems friendly, which is immediately suspicious to me because Blight is up there in my list of killers that are nearly never friendly. He is also high on my list of killers who are nearly always sweaty.
Any other killer I might have joined in on the fun and given him a few pallets, but since it felt fishy, I did gens instead.
Turns out the guy had Rancor, Nemesis, NOED and Blood Warden. He managed two moris that way, since Nemesis creates a new obsession if the killer gets stunned after the old obsessions dies.
And it was hilarious ! I got away through luck as the gates were far apart from each other. It was odd and refreshing. I enjoyed that match just for the sheer surprise and also my friend's scream when he got downed and mori'ed.
Do fun endgame builds. People who have a sense of humor will appreciate that !
-
Speculating on the other side's perks is part of the fun. I don't think stripping the game of the mystery would be very good.
I firmly see DbD as a casual game (if not the often ridiculed term "party game") and to me a system like this would push forward a competitive mindset aspect I dislike very much.
Plus I could see a spike in peer pressure to take "good perks" as the perk selection phase would reveal your build to others. For example, I've been messing a lot with chest builds with Ace In The Hole / Appraisal because I think it spices up my games nicely. I could see survivors dodging that as they realize that half my build is not useful to the group but more of a time waster.
-
Survivor : With a friend or two
Either with the friend I started playing with, another one who was already streaming the game way before I could understand any of it (innocent me thought Devour Hope was base kit for some reason because he used it on all his builds), or with a few people I've met in game since. We're typically only 2, sometimes 3, not always on comms. We are the perfect example that SWF =/= busted.
We don't bring strong items, don't play cocky and don't BM. We're very poor chaser but at least we do gens.
Killer : Nice killer
I enjoy being nice and sometimes friendly if the survivors are cute. I very rarely see unkind survivors. That being said, nice killer =/= "don't win often'". Playing kindly, sometimes letting fun survivors go and mostly accepting to lose some makes it so that you don't face very sweaty teams. I can and do win regularly by playing nicely. Just not every game. =)
I play this way because I enjoy knowing that everyone was able to play, get some pips and bloodpoints and have some fun. It's a game and I don't like it when people are miserable or anxious playing it.
-
I joined during the 6th anniversary, and really enjoyed having a non-human killer join the cast. I'm all for monsters and feral humans like my girl Hag.
I'd be happy to have an original chapter.
I'm not a huge horror license fan, and so I find I tend to enjoy the original chapter characters more. It hurts to say that, considering I don't like medieval esthetics or robotics, so the last 2 were duds in my opinion. But Dredge is great, Artist and Blight are great, I love Legion, Hag is love, DbD-Ghostface is amazing.
I'd just prefer for it to be closer to themes I enjoy, like a monstruous, animalistic, body horror or paranormal killer.
I would feel letdown by a licensed killer just as easily as by an original chapter, if it was for example Child's Play, yet another RE chapter, or a random hooded guy with a knife from a license I wouldn't know.
-
Much like thumbs up, currently useless.
I'd love to see players rewarded if they got thumbs up from other players (outside people they queued with), might incentive good behavior for once.
-
I don't think it's necessary. The majority of swfs are not significantly better than solos, or much harder to go against. Killer already gains much more bloodpoints than survivor, if they got such a modifier I'd probably switch to full time killer until I got all my characters prestiged.
-
As far as I know, additional effects on items from addons are only in effect when you're using the item.
-
This would low key be hilarious.
There should be an april fools where all killers cosmetics are replaced with this character.

i just use aura reading builds and love finding people in lockers
I use Chili + Lethal on Legion to get into chases quickly, and the other day some survivor must have messed up their Chili timing because I clearly saw them get into a locker on the other side of the map after I hooked their teammate.
It was very funny walking up to them like hellooooo
-
Killers definitely have a rough time when it comes to cheating accusations.
There really aren't that many cheaters, I've only ever encountered 1 in 400h of play.
I think a lot of the accusations come from the different perspectives, especialy if those people play little to no killer. I always play with a friend, and he will very often be like "HOW DID HE FIND ME? It's literally impossible and he does not have aura perks !" when the answer is pretty clearly either power-related KI, crows, or general game sense.
We've since played a few custom games with me as the killer to show him how I, who do not have cheats, can find him, and since then he's been disgruntled but accepting.
-
Most people, even who play efficiently, are not unkind. I've met plenty of killers who tunneled yet showed great manners in postgame chat. Because it's a game and it's not personal.
However, there are players who will not only play efficiently (which there's nothing wrong with) but also trash-talk ggez you, slug you 4min purely to make you seethe, hit you on hook to anger you, stay to teabag at the gate because it's part of their fun and they're not responsible for yours.
That's the spirit of "your fun is not my priority".
-
True.
I don't know how this problem would be solved, but it surely doesn't help retain player when you're still struggling and considered a baby at 400h of playing.
-
I like Legion's and I'm really happy with what they made for Hag, when you get past the silliness of having a very poor chaser getting such an intense music.
Wesker has to be one of the worst in my opinion. I liked it the first 10 times I heard it but by now it's just annoying.
Deathslinger's is probably amazing, but it just makes me depressed.

It's not a rework if you just drop one part of the perk and keep the rest. I know dbd standards for reworks are slightly change a perk at it's core but that's not a real rework.
Well, then I don't want a rework I guess.
-
The blocked aura and 30% bonus wiggle when dropping down affects everyone, console or not.
I'm not against reworking the 80% bonus to the killer's movements because to be frank, I've almost never seen that part be useful and it's the one that affects console players the most.
Any rework should still have the aura and falling down mechanic though. Those are original and cool.
-
The extended length of the match was 100% out of your hands.
You're not to blame because the killer wanted a 4K that bad. Better you realizing when to stop the circle of altruism and getting hatch, than you both getting downed and slugged for the remaining time because killer doesn't want to possibly risk a Boil Over or Flip Flop.
-
Agreed
-
I've started last year during the anniversary, and since then I've only seen BHVR try (albeit sometimes awkwardly) to make the game feel better to play.
Since I've joined, there's been basekit BT, queue incentives, anonymous mode, obnoxious perks nerfed, survivor HUD, bloodweb improvement, map repeat prevention, self-heal nerf.
Okay, there's been a couple underwhelming chapters. That's for sure.
So far into 6.7, so good on my part. I'm happy with it at the moment. I think we're one toolbox nerf and one map offering rework away from a good place balance-wise.
-
I mean... If it's either no basekit unbreakable and no finisher mori
Or basekit unbreakable but finisher mori
I'd rather take the slugs !
-
Agreed.
Just because one Blight player is that good doesn't mean all Blight players are that good or that Blight should be nerfed.
Same as just because some comp SWFs have insane escape streaks doesn't mean all SWF are that good or that SWF should be nerfed.

That's fair, but I think I felt more of the medkit change because now all my medkits are the same as a brown medkit, so that really hurts tbh
This was more of a "pick your poison" though and decide which was better, even if you dislike both
I'm fine with COH having its self heal removed, especially now since it's even better for altruistic healing builds
I do agree that it's a bit ridiculous paying a purple medkit and it having very little difference to the brown one.
That's 100% a valid concern !
In the mindset of pick your poison, I'd say revert medkits :)
-
Meanwhile, some people can appreciate a good Scratch Mirror on Lery <3
-
That's not at all my experience, thank god. Blessed be low mmr !
-
From someone who plays more survivor at the moment, and mains Legion and Hag :
Neither.
I don't mind medkits and CoH being a bit weaker, it is good for killers who rely more on hit and run. Playing survivor, I have barely noticed the medkit change, and CoH is still rather cool without being OP, especially since now it scales back in efficiency the fewer survivors are left, and becomes a bit more risky as the healer will have to leave their post and probably make a trail of scratch marks towards the boon.
-
No.
Legion's kit is in a decent place, and it's not designed to down survivors through Frenzy hits unless after a big chain. If it was to be improved, I'd rather see longer base kit Frenzy.
This would lead to many unfair downs since Legion is not only much faster than survivor in Frenzy but can also vault.

Idk there are much better perk combo‘s/healing options out there. Like I get the rose-colored perspective but no CoH is not good for solo queue. SWF? Yes.
I don't know. I played new CoH a few games this weekend and my solo teammates seemed to appreciate it.
-
Content creators, especially the most famous ones, have a huge influence on this community, promoting a very unhealthy competitive mindset and popularizing winstreaks as a form of show of skill.
Then people complain that after "winning" for 30, 50, 100 games in a row their opponents are sweaty and they can't play chill builds. They brought it on themselves, but it becomes the job of BHVR to nerf the other side so that they can play nice now, because they can't anymore at this mmr.
Smh
-
Western Europe, low mmr-ish swf (duo, sometimes trio) player speaking !
I've played about 12h post patch and most of them have been great. My escape rate feels a little higher, games feel winnable, and most of the killers I've been matched with have been really fair and good-spirited. I've had multiple funny and cute endgame chat in win and in loss this week.
So it's not my experience here =)
-
Solo and SWF having two different experiences (to similar results mostly) that BHVR has to account for when nerfing survivor
Survivor being the most beginner-hostile role and low mmr being a right slaughter, which is already a barrier to new players and one reason of poor player retention
Survivor requiring coordination (that often is outside of individual surv's realm of control) + skill when killer only requires skill
Game having a snowbally nature that makes it so early losses are very punishing for survivor and can make the game impossible to win (see : 2 survs alive, more than 1 gen left), so nerfing them must not be too heavy lest killrates go above what is intended (because survivors don't reach a point in the game at which it's affordable to have lost teammates)
It's a cocktail of reasons
-
2 survivors left and more than 1 gen left is in most cases a 3/4K. I'd even say with 1 gen left is a sure 3K, likely 4K.
The game is just not balanced so that 2/3 survivors can do well against 1 killer, hence why an early death is so punishing.
-
Just because one person is skilled enough to get as many wins doesn't mean the base kit is busted. They clearly put in the time to learn him more than not only your average Blight, but likely more than the 1% even did.
I won't say Blight is 100% fine but I resent the logic that because one (1) individual is that good at something, then everyone who plays that should be nerfed.
-
None of the perks I used much have changed, so !
Must have : We'll Make It, Aftercare
Those 2 other perk slots vary between : Lithe + Dance With Me, Ace In The Hole + Appraisal, CoH + Shadowstep, Repressed Alliance, Sprint Burst, Alert
-
I like Play With Your Food. That extra speed feels so nice ! I've been using it on Ghostface mostly, since it's pretty pointless on Legion and though Hag really needs the speed, I can't really afford to let the obsession do as they please when I'm playing her.
A pretty basic baby killer perk, but Spies From The Shadows is very underrated in my opinion. I'm not good at paying attention to minute details in the background, and whenever I play this perk I get so much more value than I expect. I basically always have an idea of where survivors are around me.
Mad Grit is also amazing when it works out. Though a bit less in this meta, since people are less willing to tank hits for saves.
-
Doesn't help for when you find medkits in chests, but I've been using the basic +8 charges addon when bringin a medkit, just in case there's any efficiency modifiers out there in game, or if killer interrupts me when I'm just starting to heal.
Other than that, CoH is still cool, I've brought it a couple of times in game yesterday and solo teammates have been quick to find the boon to show when they're in need of heals, so it worked alright in that regard, and since I usually play Aftercare, they can find me afterwards if they need anything.
-
All of them seem like they're in a good place right now ?
I can't say for sure because I don't play at all mmrs at once, but Skull Merchant seems like her kit is rich enough, between having the survs exposed a lot, tracking, and a surprising amount of stealth.
-
People who didn't tunnel nor used much regression before seem to be doing alright, so at least there's that.
For my part, blessed be low mmr. I've played survivor something like 8h post patch and seen only a couple of tunnelers. The rest have been pretty chill !
-
I haven't played killer yet, so can't say about that !
On survivor though, my builds have not been affected by the changes, so I'm still running them. So far in here in low mmr the games have been very pleasant. I've met a lot of cool casual killers and not that much tunneling at all !
-
*Waiting for people to inevitably compare this to waiting at the gate*
-
At the highest mmr, the difference is at most 15%.
For the vast majority of players who are of average skill, it's within few % difference.
-
It's really good ! It's also easy to forget someone's been hooked when you don't see their aura (and when you're not 100% focused on the game), leading sometimes to completing the gen and after a few seconds going "Wait X is hooked and on second stage ??".
-
It should either go back to 200% of have some middle ground 150% or something. As it is now, it's much, much too weak to be a hex.
They wouldn't turn it into a normal perk though because Hag is supposed to have an all hex set thematically.
-
I don't think it is any more than Ghostface teabaggging you. It's bad manners, but a certain amount of bad manners are tolerated in this game.
