Surprisingly seen quite a few Hags lately (and loving it!), so Twins.
Haven't seen a Freddy, Clown or a Nurse in a hot minute either.
-
I think a person with both arms broken might play better as survivor than I do, and I'm not a much better killer, so I feel you !
I do have a lot of fun though, especially playing killer as I've found the legendary low skill niche where I can get a 4k with little trouble, but since I am a friendly killer at heart, I often let some of the survivors go and therefore cement my place in this niche. If none of the survs want a friendly game I'll generally 3 or 4k, but if a couple of them look fun or seem to want to just play around I'm very quick to turn off the killing machine and just meme with them.
I'm lucky though that most of the people I encounter as killer are super well mannered ! =)
-
Agree with above... Mental health is an important thing, let's not make it an argument against a specific role.
I wish your friend to take some time and recover, spend time doing things they enjoy, and keep that "friends only" setting firmly on when it comes to steam page comments.

They are both bad for the survivor, as a survivor you just have to know when and where you should do what.
It is still counter play, had the fact that she looses her power if she gets stunned by a pallet.
Simply put, she needs to get to a fountain and do her animation and has 60s of power. If the survivors are smart they cleanse on remote areas, corners of the map, areas where gens are complete and make her waste a lot of time getting her power and walking back.
Cleansing or not cleansing are relative to a match situation and plague also has to choose when to go get her power
In the ends wins the group that made the best choices, hopefully xD
Thanks for the answer !
-
I might sound like a complete idiot because I've never played as Plague, but I don't really get how her not getting her black vomit because survivors aren't cleansing is in any way negative for her ? It means everyone only has one health state and can't stealth, so it's still pretty powerful ?
Kinda feels like a lose/lose for the survivors rather than counterplay... Or at least, if that's counterplay, I wish my dear Hag's many counters were of the same kind ! X)
(unless the issue is simply that it makes her less fun, which is understandable in that case)
-
My exception is Pinhead. (never hear Nemesis because I don't play RE characters, so Nemmy gets a pass!)
For the record, I hate survivors speaking too. Just think it's annoying and takes me out of immersion.
I'd hate for DbD to become a noisy voice lines mess like the Evil Dead Game.
-
I'm actually on board with your boon rework idea ! =)
I'd also love if hexes could get some TLC ! Something I thought of would be being able to rekindle hexes, like boons. It would not be instant (that would be busted) but take 5-10s or something. Tokens would not be carried over because then Devour Hope would be too strong, but that way if RNG puts your hex totem in the most obvious spot and it gets cleansed very early, you can still have a chance at getting value from it by choosing a more hidden spot to put it.
Also Shattered Hope rework idea : making it a killer Counterforce. Right now it's too inconsistent to be worth bringing, but too strong to be basekit. Buffing it would make it worth the perk slot it takes. The buff would be making it be able to destroy dull totems (on a cooldown?), and revealing the aura of the furthest totem for a few seconds after destroying a dull/boon. That way, true hard counter to boons at the cost of time to walk up to the totems and -1 perk slot for slowdown or chase ; and if no boon, then bloodpoints. Would count as deviousness because you're one step ahead of the survivors.
Just food for thought ! =D
-
New moris, I wouldn't mind. Might be cool ?
New emotes, I would hate that. I don't even encounter that many trolls or bad mannered survivors, but I think something about being able to stand at the gate flipping the killer off would bring out the worst in some people.
-
I don't like using rare items (green and above) because I know I'm dying like, 80% of the time, and I don't want to waste them while I don't have time to play regularly to get better at surviving.
Yellows and brown can deplete quickly and there are very few items in the bloodweb.
Addditionally, if the rest of my lobby all have items, especially all medkit, I'll tend not to bring an item so that killer has less of a hard time if teammates happened to bring something busted.
Currently messing with Appraisal/Ace in the Hole though, to let my items up to chance. =)
-
The first killer I had an immediate "I want to play as THEM" feeling for before I bought the game was the Hag. I just loved the idea of jumpscaring people and her power seemed super cool ! =D
But she was a bit hard for a complete beginner with no map knowledge or chasing capabilities so I took heed of that "Very difficult" warning and figured I'd try an easier killer first.
Out of the "Easy" killers to play, I thought Legion looked fun, running fast and stabbing people sounded really good, so I started playing as them. =)
They're the two killers I play most to this day, though I'm now experimenting a bit with Ghostface, Nemesis and Spirit.
On the survivor side, my first survivor was Kate, because she had a biker outfit and Dance With Me/Windows (half my first serious build, along with Lithe and Q&Q). Nowadays I play as Haddie more, because I like her and her anniversary outfit is beautiful.
-
Probably around 35 to 40 min.
I was playing Ghostface on The Game going for adept, and among the survivors was an Ace who was just... amazing. He outran his mark twice. After 30s I knew I should give up on him and find other people, but he was just mesmerizing. I'm a very poor looper myself, so halfway through the first chase I was ecstatic to see someone move so smoothly between the loops.
It also helped that he was super well mannered. Many other survivors would have been mocking at this point, but the guy was genuinely just funny. He didn't treat me like a baby killer (which I was). Most he did all game was moonwalking a bit in the background when his friend was getting chased.
Anyway. After a few gens I went back to his team, and noticed they had left for last 3 easily patrollable gens upstairs. From then, I killed the 2 lesser experienced survivors, and only had Ace and a Kate left. None of the gens had any significant progress.
Everytime I approached one of them, they'd go downstairs to try and lure me out of the 3gen, and I also knew that both of them were much better at chases than I am. Fortunately, as I was Ghostface, I could mark them and hopefully cut in half my chase time. Unfortunately, there was no good line of sight to the gens.
So the next 20min were spent "sneaking" up to them, progressing their mark by a little bit while trying not to get revealed instantly, getting revealed, chasing them off a gen, kick, patrolling while my shroud was on cooldown, repeat.
I also couldn't afford to spend more than 20--30s in chase, so there were several instances of marking, getting into a chase, stopping at the first loop to break pallet, giving up chase to patrol again, until there were no easily accessible pallets.
I eventually got the Ace on a hook, ######### off to let him be unhooked, then Kate, then Ace again, who died.
Kate eventually found hatch, after a harrowing good half an hour if not more.
(I know it's nothing to hatch standoffs and the like, but I'm pretty new so I wasn't around for that haha)
(By the way, I did get my adept with this game ! Hooray ! =D)
The Ace was again, nice in endgame chat, which I did not expect from such a long game.
I actually still have the chat somewhere in my collection...
Here !
Overall good memory, but I don't think I'd do it again haha. It was exhausting !
-
Mad Grit !! I once had 3 down because of it, and it was glorious.
Arguably, DH. As in Devour Hope of course. It gets cleansed early a bit too often, but is extremely satisfying to get moris with when you get lucky.
-
I play none of those killers and I'm swarmed with uni projects... Would not notice !
If I found the time to play, I'd probably go Legion to destress though =D

I had a Freddy downed me as the last survivor, carried me to hatch, dropped me like 4m away. I crawled to hatch. Freddy closed the hatch.
Then I just tab out to draw (I turn off mute focus so I still hear in-game sounds), and I heard he kept picking and drop me until I escape the grab, but I just kept drawing, and he kept hitting on the Gate.
He kept hitting on the Gate until the EGC downed to 25%, I tab in to open Gate, then downed me when the switch had 3 lights, then process me to hook.
Post chat: Sorry, its for content.
I mean, I would question the watchers who watch such the content more than the killers to do this. So much waste of time.
These kinds of people really are part of the problem in this community.
Like, having fun challenging redeems on your stream like having chat pick your build or a killer you're not familiar with is all good, but some really put toxicity as a redeem option for the sake of having an excuse to be toxic.
The other day I had a game against a decent Hag who was a streamer, so I go say hi in chat, only to see him rejoice over someone redeeming "play toxic Bubba" and spending the next 15 minutes hitting survivors on hook non stop and yelling at them to dance for him.

The size is unchanged, despite everybody literally begging bhvr for years to make it smaller.
Well, that's a depressing news
-
Haven't yet played on the new Red Forest, did they change anything else, like the size maybe ? Because as it was it's the bane of my existence as a Hag & Legion enthusiast...
-
Best thing is I can always accuse them of using scripts, and be at least somewhat correct !
-
I'm always against adding voice lines. I dont like them. Ideally only Pinhead keeps his. The others are annoying and I'd disable them instantly if I had an option to.
-
What the hell, I browsed the changes earlier and didn't even notice that. It's... so bad.
No one asked for this and it literally nerfs good playstyles and skillful plays (recognizing which survivor is hit by effects through their voice), making some perks useless like Make Your Choice ??
They compromised on reverting some of Eruption, hopefully, HOPEFULLY they can revert that too.
How it made it past brainstorming or testing I have no idea.
-
Julie's Mixtape resets the Frenzy timer when pallet stunned, and quite a few Legion play with Enduring, so it might be either just the Mixtape or both =)
Additionally blinding a Frenzying Legion will take them out of Frenzy, therefore their hit reverts to a normal hit instead of a Feral Slash ! This is why blinding a Legion in Frenzy is a guaranteed way of getting downed haha X)
Edit : just watched the video, yeah that's definitely not hacking, they just had the time to vault, got blinded out of frenzy, and hit.
-
I think the game would get super boring for survivors. Perks and items are all they have that makes the gameplay varied.
Killers at least have powers that are diverse and interesting, with which you can express skill.
Survivor would become just a lil dude running.
I'd rather have unused perks buffed to be better contenders than pointless nerfing just for the sake of nerfing.
-
Sloppy's too strong for basekit
The regressing heal progression and additional slowdown to the healing action is massive. But since it happens out of sight I can see how killers might not think it does much. But it does.
-
That's so cute !!
Poor Mikey must have thought he was gonna have a long game, but the sentiment was very sweet from both of you !
A recent wholesome moment of mine was a Trickster who tried so hard to give my friend hatch, walking for 2 whole minutes on the map trying to find it, not hearing it, and eventually very depressingly hooking my friend and apologizing in chat.
The guy's name was "completely lost", which was very in character haha !
-
Too complex.
Gens are pretty simple and a bit boring because you still have to look out for killer.
This prevents it completely...
-
Regarding the incentives : there are always less killers than survivors, for the 4:1 ratio to be in place. (Except generally on PTB or as a new killee comes out if they're good : when Wesker came out, killer queues were very long and incentives on survivors pretty much 24h/24h because everyone wanted to play him)
Incentive on killer means the 4:1 ratio is not met, like maybe it's 5:1 or 6:1. It's very often the case in the evenings as survivors play with their friends after work (which is what I've seen the past few days).
Survivor incentives are generally on during the day (I still see it when I log on in the afternoon for example)
To your other points, I get how Killer as a role could feel much sweatier right now, but I don't think the hud update has much to do with survivors being better at looping. They're definitely more organized (hopefully for their teammates), but didn't get better at the game overnight.
I'm horrendous at survivor (slowly getting better) and I do not win my matches significantly more often (still at an average 20% escape rate) and neither do my teammates from what I can tell.
It is true that we reach 5th gen a bit more often, which is really good for morale, as post 6.1 most games never went past 3 gens.
As for killer buffs, I don't doubt some will come. But since general buff to killers would help those that do well more than those that do not, I really really wish they will instead take some time to look at each low tier killer and buff them separately through QoL and power buffs.
-
I generally save my medkit for times where I don't know where anyone is and would lose time looking.
If I know I'm next to someone, I'd rather have them heal me than lose my limited heal.s from the (often brown) medkit. That heal would be put to better use if I get stranded somewhere without knowledge of where teammates are, or if endgame strikes and I need to be able to stealth at a door.
I pretty much always have we'll make it to spare people from using theirs after I unhook them. That being said, I won't insist if the person doesn't want my heal.
-
This will either we extremely cool or a laughably bad, and honestly I'd be here for both.
-

I kinda wish each killer and survivor could have a 5th perk slot but it had to be one of their teachable perks. Then again, that would be a balancing nightmare
Pretty sure the devs have said something like that will never be done, because if would make some survivors fundamentally better than others (as their 5th perk is something you would have brought regardless on any other character) and therefore pay to win.
So surprisingly less about balance and more about fairness.
-
I did !
Mostly as I was playing killer, since I'm very soft and prone to meme around.
I met a couple of friends with whom I played hide and seek on GoJ a few months back (they saw how blind I was and began a game of hiding in increasingly obvious spots for me to find them, was very funny!). We play survivor together occasionally ! =D
And another one with whom I've grown to be close friends. Guy met me in a game where I got completely wrecked by him and the other survivors, genuinely offered to coach me so I'd get better. We realized there were other games we both played, and now we play and chat every week ! Though not on DbD anymore, as he's burnt out from it. =)

What's wrong with the balance in League?
I haven't played in years TBH, but I just took a look at the win rates (this is data collected by Riot that is provided through an API, BHvR take notes!!!!) and 130/162 champions have a 50 +/- 2% win rate. That's 80% of champions!
Since the stats were last released, 16/29 Killers have a kill rate of 60 +/- 2%. That's 55%.
In DbD a players kill rate is related to how sweaty they want to play. If they want to tunnel the first person they see, they're more likely to get a 4k. BHvR doesn't release the stats on hooks per kill so we don't know the extent of tunneling and camping going on. Based on the games I play as survivor, probably around 33% of them result in tunneling or camping.
It's not as much the balance that's wrong but that the game is not enjoyable.
Players are so chained up to the meta that playing a champion you like but that's not meta will get your game dodged or your teammates swearing at you in the chat and throwing because they don't expect you to play your role well.
It's perfectly primed for competitive/professional play, with the realm of possible plays clearly defined, good system of bans and such, but it's extremely sweaty as casual and the devs care more about their tournaments being flawless than their players enjoying the game.
Virtually no one I know who currently plays really enjoys the game, and that's at various levels of experience. (I personally don't play, never have and never will, but close friends and some family do and their experiences lign up)
They are extremely hyped about esports tournaments and follow them religiously, but actually playing the game ? It's too frustrating and not worth it. Some have quit, some play periodically, but few play regularly anymore.
-
Oh, so that's what this Ghostface was trying to do yesterday.
Loaded into a game where a Ghostie spent his time trying to get on that rock and asking us to try too. No one fully made it though !
-
This is hilarious, love the sketch that comes with it ! XD
-
Curses are real in this game !
I'm right there with you on the "puts on a healing build : Plague next".
I also have the "puts on Distortion : Ghostface / Wraith next".
-
Gen time balancing is a tricky question, because the minimum time spent on survivors objectives is something that is completely set within the game : 90s seconds each + travel time from gen to gen. (Survivors grouping up not counting for much as they are less efficient than if they were spread out, and PTS only negating that, not making it faster)
However, the minimum time required for killer's objectives (aka how fast chases go) are not set within the game as they depend not only on the killer's skill but also on the chased survivor's skill too...
That way, one could argue that gens should be longer base kit because chases could last a minute each. But that would be ignoring the just as likely possibility of games where chases last 30s (or even snowballs : last evening I played, a Nurse had 3 survs on the ground in 1min30, and same with another game against an Oni. Does it mean something should be done about chases or these killers ? I don't think so !).
Such games sure are demotivating, but so is beginner/casual survivor experience. In my experience, it's much easier getting kills as a new/casual killer than it is escaping as a new/casual survivor. The best thing to do is to move on to next games and learn from your mistakes. I'd say if you played to your killer's strengths, you'd probably do really well. =)
Hopefully one day the game will find a state of balance that is more satisfactory to both roles and the various levels of experience.

I press the enter quite early lol XD
Guessed so hahaha
I have seen much more map offerings these past few weeks than usual. I don't know what people are thinking.
The other day I could not escape RPD in either role. Either the rng put me there or players would XD
-
You really are
-
Would love a health chapter !
Though I do like the game, it's just too frustrating and repetitive as a casual to play alone (at least survivor, but lately even killer makes me go 'eh'). Since my friends and I have clashing timetables, most times I'm like :
What should I spend the next 3h on : playing DbD or painstakingly redrawing the same frame 20 times to make a subpar animation ?
And the animation wins every time
-
@Nazzzak said:
Was the 5 gen chase game you're referring to the one where you were Nemesis on RPD? I recognize your username. You went up against a (solo) streamer I watch who is actually really really good at looping. Their looping skills are actually the reason I watch them in the first place.
I know it probably doesn't help, but just from someone who actually watched you play I don't think you did badly at all, you simply overcommitted. The game I'm referring to had Steve (who you downed pretty quickly) with Deliverance at the end.
Mind to share the streamer's name ? I'm trash at looping and I'd love to study how they're doing ! =)
-
I don't really care for the balance team's mmr. If anything, I wish for it to be varied on different levels.
If the game was balanced only at top level, it would be even more unbearable for casual players and beginners, which are the two demographics that DbD is struggling to retain, precisely because it's so discouraging starting out / playing too unfrequently to improve (which makes it a vicious cycle as people then aren't motivated to play when they know they aren't going to have a good experience).
LoL may work as they think is best, but according to many of my friends who are or were regular players (one being a private coach), the game's been so overthrown by the ambition of making it a competitive professional game that it's barely playable as a casual or outside of meta, both because of balance and backlash from other players (an issue which stems, like most things, from balance).
DbD being balanced completely around top 2% players would probably be the worse option commercially as much manier players would drop / not consider trying the game at all.

It wouldn't... all the monster was is a thing to keep people in the village and not know about the outside world. It really wasmt ment as a Killer at all just a deterrent.
Overall it wouldn't make story sense for The Entity to chose it since there was no malice behind it.
Yeah that's what I thought.
Though to be fair the Entity took killers with no malice before.
But yeah in this case, probs wouldn't make sense.
-
The very nature of the antagonists in The Village would make it hard to translate them into a killer, if my memory serves me well.
That being said, I really like your "It is Only Illusion" idea. The Bad Color I'm not keen on, it's just a better Bloodhound.
Naive courage would be too OP in my opinion. I Cannot Bear It sounds strong, I like it. Warning Bells I'm not too fond of, as Guardian already does this well enough.
But yeah, I have no idea of a killer power fitting the antagonists.
(Also, and I get why you didn't make her a survivor, but I think it's a bit undermining the main character to not make her a survivor, instead putting a rather background-ish character that's more bark than bite)
-
Whenever I'm facing a Frank I'll just exclaim "MY SON !!" loudly and my duo friend hates me now. X)
-
Currently looter ! =)
I'm too bad at survivor to have any exciting role, so I play chest roulette with Ace in the Hole / Appraisal. (My two other perks being Aftercare and We'll Make It for quick heals and coordination)
Does it mean I often play with only 2 perks and no exhaustion ? Yay ! But I feel like that's slowly contributing to be becoming better at chases without relying on exhaustion. It's just... Very slow going X)
-
Major win =D
-
For real.
Every time I unhook someone, I have to wait like 0.5 to 1 second to just get the prompt to start healing, so the person will sometimes run off thinking I don't want to heal them or aggressively spam crouch as they think I'm hesitating.
That and pallet prompts sometimes just... not showing up because they don't want to.
-
Pretty much what people said, she suffers a lot from the healing meta since part of her strength is hit and run.
She's still really fun to play as when you're in low-ish mmr against players that don't counter her well, but when you reach teams that know how to play against her, it's a very sudden very steep learning curve.
Hag path :
- 0K-1K for a few games when you start playing her and don't know how to use her power well
- Then straight to only 3Ks & 4Ks with no sweat while you ride the wave of people who have never seen her for the next ten hours of playing her, maybe you have the odd 2K thrown in there
- Then you hit the CoH / heal wall, the flashlight bringers, the people who know how to set off her traps safely, and the good loopers who can harass you to keep you from building a web
- Harsh learning environment, either sweat through it or go play an easier killer
She just has a lot of counters, and they're justified because Hag can be fearsome at low and high mmr ! But she's just very hard to learn when you're reaching that middle stage where you're too powerful to be matched with beginners, yet too weak and unskilled against decent survivors.
