This perk was released with way too many safety restrictions to be useful. An insta heal sounds incredibly broken on paper but as you said, if it is locked behind 2 chest searches and a 60 seconds time window AND all that effort can be deleted, then you have a perk that is more of a detriment than a benefit.
-
She'll be a Yui skin in the next tome
-
Shifting is fast and the cooldown before you can attack short, so this would simply lead to the killer chasing down survivors as a 6ms killer that can ignore all vaults and as soon as they are close shift for a quick hit.
Bat form is clearly intended for map traversal, not chasing down survivors.

How about we not allow killers to take any perk?
How about survivors start the game already hooked?
-
Knockout is an insanely unhealthy perk ever since its release and I honestly don't understand why the devs aren't reworking it. It encourages some of the worst gameplay (slug until bleedout) and is very unfair against soloq
-
Unless you are basically rubbing your face against the survivor, the anti face camp doesn't do anything, so even with longer hook stages this changes nothing.

wait till he gets distracted and trade. also do gens, granted now survivors spend 145 seconds on the hook including all animations. if killer doesnt lose 3 gens for camping, you cant blame anyone but yourself.
as for builds you might want to have if you're playing to win, use a sweaty perk called reassurance. or its lesser known alternative camaraderie. perks like babysitter or DS help to ensure the trade is secured.
did i say do gens? do gens.
also dont cherry pick examples. dbd community loves doing that so much and it's not really a good way of arguing.
Learheface, trickster, huntress, hillbilly, deathslinger, etc. are all killers that can camp extremely well. I just picked leatherface because he is the most notable example.
In soloq, unless someone has kindred, there is no way to know a killer is camping until you have been there and seen it which wastes a lot of time.
Camping is a base feature. It requires neither a high amount of skill nor any specific perks (though there are camping support perks like deadlock), however for survivors without comms, as explained above, just getting the info that a killer is camping wastes a lot of time and the only real counter against campers like leatherface, trickster, huntress, etc. is, as you have said, perks or trying to pull insane stunts just to counter someone standing in place.
The amount of effort the killer has to put into camping vs the amount of effort and coordination survivors need to counter it are in no way comparable, which imo isn't good game design.

The same way literally every single other multiplayer game does it, you ban people for "feeding" or "throwing" the game.
- LoL does it
- DotA does it
- CS:GO does it
- Rainbow Six does it
- Overwatch does it
- The list goes on.
LoL (and probably the other games as well) has a forfeit option so a team that has clearly lost can give up to stop wasting everyone's time. If dbd had a similar system, I think there would be a lot less self unhook attempting.
-
@Toystory3Monkey said:
why should they? it's a legitimate strategy that has plentiful counterplay and risk to it.
"Plentiful counterplay"
Please explain what plentiful counterplay there is (without comms) when a leatherface stands 16m from a hook and moves in whenever he sees someone get close.
-
As others have already stated, killers always had to wait until post game to "show off" their prestige.
Showing in the pre game lobby was exclusively used to lobby shop.
-
Its purpose is map traversal, nothing more. Dracula's shifting is pretty fast with almost no cooldown after shifting so if you could freely see them, you could chase them down as a 6 ms killer that can bypass any vaults and as soon as you're close just shift to any other form and m1.
-
I agree. Survivor bp gains across the board should be increased.

The problem is that if you make the timer too short you will basically get a syringe.
A "syringe" that requires 2 full chest searches and can't be activated whenever the player wants. Reducing the timer will not make the perk broken, even if they cut it in half.
I also like your ideas though and I agree that this perk requires way too much setup and can be canceled by the killer too easily
-
No, but you'll get a castlevania themed candelabra that sheds a bit of light and can be placed on gens to highlight them for your team
-
Kind of agree. Currently, the only thing that makes it problematic is plaything, as that is 1 perk that generates 4 hexes. Simple change would be to just have the entity immediately consume all cleansed plaything totems. This means that both perks stay individually unchanged but can't be stacked anymore, meaning that if a killer wants to activate pentimento more than once, they'll have to bring more hex perks.
-
Haste is something that needs to be very restricted unless we want to end up with an old mft situation.
-
I don't think this modifier can be salvaged for survivors. Rampant proxy camping and tunnelling by perma undetectable killers and no perks to combat that is simply not fun.
Edit. Almost forgot that the hud is also missing for some unexplainable reason, which makes especially soloq 10x worse than usual
-
For some people winning isn't enough. They additionally have to make sure their opponents know they've lost. It's petty and immature but it's unfortunately just another part of online pvp games.

Well why even play a multiplayer game at that point, when they implement killer bots just go into custom lobbies with 3 bot survivors and play that
Because those games award neither bp nor exp. If that were to change I'd say a fair amount of players would prefer to play with bots.

Doesn't need to be very well balanced.
Just need to be fun. :)https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3786810#Comment_3786810
Really? Survs didn't wanted to play?
I thought it was decent fun for both sides. Jump scares for survs, laughs for killers. :Phttps://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3786805#Comment_3786805
For me it's the worst.
1st person for me is not immersive because, again, I feel like playing as a pair of floating limbs.
I would take a huge nerf for killers if 3rd person was an option. I would learn and adapt to play around this supposed nerf.https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3786808#Comment_3786808
Agreed.
Even if you don't think it matters, balance is very important. If a mode is deeply unfun for one side, they'll simply stop queueing up for it. Light's out survivor queues were pretty much dead after 2 days and without survivors there is no game for killers (and vice versa)

It's because mind-gaming an algorithm isn't nearly as fun as mind-gaming a player.
If you remove that, the game holds no interest.
Maybe for you.
How many posts do we get on a daily basis that lament the behavior of other players in this game? A bot mode would alleviate a lot of those complaints.
Those who do not wish to play against real players could simply go against bots that could be programmed to not play in the most miserable ways possible.
And those who seek to compete against other players would still be free to do so but now they are more likely to meet like minded people.
It would be a win win for everyone.
-
It won't because it's not "too much"

That would be a nice touch. For every game you ragequit out, you have to play a match with 4 bots.
Getting 3 teammates that actually do gens and a killer that can be programmed to not camp and tunnel? Honestly, that sounds more like a reward than a punishment.

Be careful what you wish for. Some have already been seen in the wild and some are not exactly what you'd call gentle kittens.
Besides, the game is worthless against bots.
The survivor bots also used to be quite good but after multiple rounds of nerfs they're terrible now.
Also, the only reason why the game is worthless against bots is because custom games don't award bp. I'm fairly sure there is a not insignificant amount of players that would prefer to go against bots if there was anything to gain from those matches.

When did they say Lights Out is coming back? Last I read that one performed poorly and was deeply unpopular.
One of the points they want to talk about in the castlevania stream is the return of light's out. I also don't understand why they'd bring back that mode when it was pretty unpopular
-
Probably scrapped because I can't imagine how they'd balance that.
-
I am very excited and will buy it instantly. I'm really looking forward to the cosmetics collection too. In the teaser image we can see Alucard and that's really cool imo.

I'm not saying all gen placements and map configurations are perfect, some maps do have egregious 3-gens with no safety to compensate (like Haddonfield rework), however 3-gens are a part of the back and forth tactical elements of the game, where a killer has to decide between committing to a chase or not.
Survivors have a choice between doing all the safe gens then trying to break the 3 gen at the end with 4 of them, or trying to break the 3 gen early while they still have all their items and pallets still up.
I don't like this logic of "soloQ can't coordinate effectively to break a 3-gen, therefore 3 gens should be forced out of the game". The fact is soloQ doesn't typically play optimally... but to assume it is impossible for them to do so is to place a natural cap on the skill requirement of soloQ, and balance the game so that anyone who does manage to play optimally completely crushes the killer at every turn.
This is DBD in a nutshell. When played optimally it is quite difficult for anything short of a handful of killers/builds to realistically compete. However at lower levels its the side who makes the fewest mistakes that wins, and there are 4 times more survivors to make a potential game losing mistake than there are killers.
I am not saying that all 3 gens are bad, but if 3 generators spawn basically within lunging distance from one another, the amount of coordination it would take to break that 3 gen, given that the killer is dead set on holding it, is unreasonable for the average soloq lobby.
-
@HexHuntressThighs said:
At a certain point it is on the survivors to recognize the 3 gen and break one out early. Holding a 3 gen is a viable killer strat, the only caveat would be if that’s all they do from the very beginning and nothing else.
Nobody should ever be accidentally caught by the Dead Dawg 3 gen considering its existed for years now. Learn the 3 gen spots and take care of it, it’s really not that hard honestly.
If a map spawns a perfect 3 gen like in those pictures and the killer decides to hold it, it's essentially impossible for a soloq team to break it, as they can't coordinate, which would be necessary.
This isn't a survivor issue, this is a map issue. Spawns like that simply shouldn't be allowed to happen.

Pointless passive agressive responce? On OUR dbd forums? No way!
I don't see how it's pointless. You are literally "fearing" that dbd, a live service game, might balance something instead of leaving it unbalanced for whatever reason.
-
Balance changes? In MY live service game? No way!
-
I can guarantee you that no one except lobby shoppers cares about your prestige, BHVR even conducted an experiment.
Making it optional would lead to the same lobby dodging problem. If someone decides to hide prestige, lobby shoppers will see that as a warning sign that that player is hiding a high prestige number and dodge.
Hiding prestige is a good and necessary change to reduce the rampant lobby shopping problem that also affects matchmaking.
If you really feel the need to "flex" your prestige, you can still do so in the post game results screen, like killers.

Idk why the community is so obsessed with reworking everything they don't like.
It's fine if you don't vibe with Xenomorph, because you can't just play a different killer.
This. Unless a power is problematic (like og hostage merchant) there is no need for a complete rework.

You're a frequent guest at Hens chat, which do a lot of tourney, and you still believe that killers feel like they have to camp only because survivors are better, not because pressure the map on some not strongest killers is obviously just throwing the game due the fact that survivors are way more time effective than killers without mobility and strong chase power? Wow.
I will be really glad to see how 70sec hook stage affects tourneys and will force killers leave a hook and get destroyed in 80-90% matches or make possible to run 4 slowdowns even on S tier killers just to balance it out. Or just better decision will be to put on pink glasses and say that they are out of their play area after every lose on tourney. Get gut, tourney killers 😎
Comp and pub dbd are basically 2 completely different games and should never be compared.
-
I think survivors should spawn on hooks

"something happens" - no i dont go and chase out survivor when im killer, and that is not the killers responsibility.
Survivors already won, and they drag time with the intent to annoy the killer.
The entire point of their argument is that a killer always has the option to "prematurely" end survivors teabagging at the exit gate whereas survivors literally can't stop bleedouts unless they have some very specific perks, so they are "forced" to be unable to do anything for up to 4 minutes
-
Personally, I think they could just delete every bp offering except bps, pudding and cake and then decrease the rarity of all of them by 1 stage. It would massively reduce the amount of useless stuff we have to buy in the blood web and if bps no longer have to share their rarity with map offerings, we'll also see more of them.
-
Killers with additional objectives simply can't work in 2v8. The only one that might work is nemesis because other killers can't benefit from his infection, but killers like pig, pinhead or plague would need a lot of changes before they can be put into 2v8. They are balanced if they are only on their own, but would be broken with a partner.
-
Doesn't get much easier than simply standing still. It works because soloq players can't communicate that they are being camped.

Not exactly true. The code for the jake skin works on consoles as well. You just need to have hooked on you.

She's just not very fun to play. Birding every loop to force holding w gameplay isn't exactly what I'm personally looking for when I decide which killer I want to play. It IS effective, but it bores me to death. It's the same with hag. She is quite good at killing but her playstyle is about as interesting as watching paint dry.
-
No mither
-
Weird. I was always told that "hug tech" is exclusively used for "fun" and "doesn't offer any competitive advantage" and that "blight will be a lot stronger when people have to use bump logic"
-
Legion would need major tweaks otherwise he would easily be able to get an insta down every time he activates frenzy since chaining 4 hits would be laughably easy in 2v8
-
Only buying something because you are chasing after the next meta thing is always a bad idea
-
Knockout. How this perk has not received a complete overhaul is honestly a mystery. It's very oppressive against soloq and promotes bleeding people out.

these skill-check are hard even for experience players. I suggested cap of 3 stacks because i didn't want to increase difficulty to infinity degree where the game actively forces missed skill-check but the idea is 3 stacks of difficulty makes it so that survivor is very likely to miss a skill-check.
This isn't for new players. this is going make everyone miss skill-checks on average.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3780575#Comment_3780575
it is not hitting just new players. this will be hitting experienced players. I don't buy into these lame new player excuses.
but it would mainly affect new players and lot harder too. New player lobbies are already quite killer sided, so tilting them even more in the killer's favour is probably the last thing the game needs.
-
would absolutely destroy newer/lower skill players and do basically nothing against more experienced players (except maybe if the killer is doctor with the skill check build)
-
I am never stressed while playing this game. Sometimes I get frustrated but that usually happens when I'm playing survivor and rarely while playing killer.
However, I personally found 2v8 killer more frustrating than 1v4 killer. When I play killer in 1v4 I am solely responsible for how my match goes. However, in 2v8 I might have a complete dead weight as a teammate and that frustrates me as I have no control over it.
-
Both would be fine. Personally, I would prefer it if they were completely removed so that bps spawn more often in their place.
