that's dramatic, I've seen games where it's been the other way too. I just think a lot of people aren't as good at killer as they think they are. lol

More like some people are too lucky and keep getting potato or super chill opponents.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

The killer experience isn't bad, you're just over reacting. Queue times contradict what you're saying lol

It's actually atrocious to play as killer in this mode for lots of reason. Unless survivors do goofy stuff. majority of games will end with 2 or 3 hooks tops. Lack of gen defense or info perks for killer hurts a lot.

But it stops them from using the lockers, which is what you want… so what one is it

You have to dedicate an entire perk slot to secure a feature of your power. Do you think it's a fair trade?

Honestly you're making her sound much weaker than she is. First if iron maiden prevents survs using lockers to get rid of birds then you're benefitting.

And I wouldn't say she's particularly addon dependant. Her basekit power shuts down any kind of looping and means she actually benfits from pallets and vaults. She is imo the single best killer for countering shack. Prerunning and shift w only work against her to an extent. The crows are a ranged power so you can still injure survs at distance to counter the shift w. Setting and firing a single crow as opposed to all 3 requires mote finesses but also has a much shorter cooldown meaning you can fire one, swarm a surv. Then be able to set 3 and get the injury before they can repel them.

She's one of the better killers in game, the reason she has a low pickrate is that her power does have a very high skill requirement.making her easier to use would make her far too strong.

Again, the need to dedicate an entire perk slot just so your power can actually work isn't really the great design.

She is very much addon dependent and on open maps her kit isn't that great because she can't trap survivors since there's plenty of space to dodge the crows or relocate. Unless you are playing against survivors who run a straight line and get hit by her power twice, you don't really have much power since by the time you are ready to ''position'' a new crow the debuff is already gone from survivor. Unknown pretty much suffers from the same issue except his situation is much worse.

She is B tier killer at best. If things allign - A-. There's no reason to offer so many counter to someone who already has so many external dependencies.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

Counter point: removing birds by going into lockers is something I like coz of Iron maiden synergy, more people should try it on her.

Would only work once against competent survivors and never again.

She is another addon dependent killer who is decent at closing a single loop but has little to offer against Press W play. Ability to remove her crows by going into lockers doesn't make sense since survivors can already remove them while being chased with almost no penalty. The only reason why some people think she is strong is because they still try to stay in the same loop against her and end up being punished for that, also her low pick rate means less people have opportunity to practice playing against her.

  • @Elan said:

Lightborn is fine as is. You sacrifice one of 4 perk slots to counter single item which is big enough disadvantage.

But I want to blind killer 25 times in a match during the pick-up animation of the downed survivor and I no longer can do that! It's so unfair.

Believe me I don't think the killer role shouldn't have fun. I play an awful lot of killer. And the event can be played around with killer, I've been playing a bunch of killer during the event and been performing very well without resorting to tunneling or hook camping. I've had a couple of rough games but for the most part I've managed to take control of my matches.

Heck I had a black banquet nemesis game against a ttv and a fairly co ordinated squad earlier and had them all double hooked before they could even finish a gen (tbf i kept triggering pop on 2 gens with 4 pistons going), no tunneling, no hook camping.

I also recognise that bad games as killer are astoundingly unfun. As a rule when I call for balance changes to killer I don't want to see the role gutted. It should be the power role with the 60% kill rate.

Unfortunately the concept of 60% kill rate is not well respected here. Skull Merchant and Krasue situation should be a very well demonstrated case where killers were ''changed'' to calm the wave of dissatisfied survivor mains which resulted into those killers being either unplayable in terms of viability or un-enjoyable in terms of fun. These could had been avoided if those people who cry the loudest start playing both roles and see how things are from both sides but they prefer to keep causing commotion and throw more tantrums and since they are the majority due to how this game is designed, they end up influencing developers more which so far had mostly negative results, for both sides.

  • Given how ''fair'' current event is to killers, survivor main players should not complain that many killers right now prefer to tunnel people out asap.

As for the general talk - we still have 5 gens vs 12 hooks, not 12 gens vs 12 hooks. Survivor players should take pride and L that they forced killer to tunnel them out asap because apparently there was no other option left for them.

PS. Killer players also want to have fun and win a game. Please don't forget about that.

  • @cogsturning said:

This is how the event has gone for me so far:

As killer I sweat for my life for mostly ties. People already knew exactly how everything worked and how to maximize it to heal people mid chase or when downed, or to turn invisible around a corner and body block with budget DH.

As survivor, it's basically all Jason and we lost every single match because he's the current free win button.

So I went back to 1v4. I'd rather wait in the 6 minute killer queue, and there have also been way less Jasons over there on the survivor end.

If you managed to lose as survivor on an event like this then I'd really question the skill of survivors here.

This is pretty much a dream Easy Mode for survivor players. You can only lose here if someone intentionally sandbags you or your team mates have a negative IQ values.

  • Maybe if pallets were closer to gens….

Why do you assume my opponets run in a straight line? when did i say that, i obviously have people dodging it, i do miss sometimes, i was just saying i find it easier then a hatchet throw. Its not like i said the spear was undodgeable. Again this is from my time as him, i was never contradicting yours, im sharing my gameplay and thoughts, you dont have to agree.

Once again you make another good point Survivors can easily waste Jasons time

Because if you played against more competent survivors, you'd see that his spear is very clunky projectile to spam or use. It is also much harder to aim and throw than hatchet. Besides, iirc, Huntress has addons that make hatchet throwing even more easy.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4091737#Comment_4091737

Ok and like, is this an issue with sadako? She can also spam tvs. Is this an issue with nurse? She can also blink immediately after the cooldown is up. Is this an issue with wraith? He can also go invisible whenever he wants. Is this an issue with ghost face? He can also stealth as soon as the cooldown is up.

That's what a cooldown is, it prevents you from spamming it.

The fact that you want his cooldown to be nearly triple just shows you have no idea what you are talking about.

I would highly recommend watching Scott's video on this where he explains the counterplay:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJi8dVgBnec

The fact that you are boiling the counterplay down to "just crouch" shows exactly the problem here because that isn't the counterplay, not exactly anyway.

God forbid the counterplay to a killer requires survivor do or don't do a thing at the specific moment of the play.

It's pity that a rather skill demanding and addon dependent killer is a subject of the nerf crusade debate. One would think that more people would be willing to play both sides now with addition of ''play while you wait'' option for 1v4 but I guess that's too much to ask. If only more people played Jason, even against bots so there was better understanding what this killer can do and how to play against him.

  • @pidgeon said:

Started playing a lot more survivor as of late because I'm trying to p100 my Ace. And the only problem I have so far is Deputy Badge/Hex: Ruin and the fact that they severely punish you actively using Jason's counterplay.

I dislike that Badge is pretty much a mandatory addon for him at moment but survivors should remember that badge also burns regression charge so if Jason is actively using it then there's high possibility that those 7 charges will get spent on a gen rather quickly.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4091504#Comment_4091504

I have played many Jason games already. And i find his spear easier then Huntress. and ive gone against incredibly good players, especially ones who carry their team in solo que. Most of the time in chase your likely to get a spear and keep the pressure its easy to grab and not as punishing as other ranged killers. Barely wasting any time and has the mobility to catch up and block a vault or pallet, maybe even many vaults with his iri add on. its quite spammable honestly. I have seen this from both the killer and survivor perspective, i am sharing it from my view. I am not disregarding yours as a matter of fact i actually agree with some of what you have said.

The spear doesnt really be better then any other projectile from the game other then a faster and more time saving reload. You do make good points however, Jason is incredibly strong and quite in a bad state at the current moment

You really need to play a bit more, preferably against survivors who don't run the straight line and understand that spear needs to be juked. Such survivors have no trouble dealing with spear and can efficiently waste Jason's time.

  • @TropesDaMan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4091486#Comment_4091486

Im sorry i agree with Hooded on this statement. Jason is incredibly unhealthy and is in need of a nerf, basically no cooldown and even if he misses his spear he can just grab another one mid chase, he barely gets punished for his mistakes, and the extra haste he gets should not be there

If he misses the spear he needs to get a new one from a hook or pile. He is also slowed down while aiming it.

Hitting with his spear isn't a walk in the park. Try playing as Jason few games and see how ''viable'' it is to spam his spear mid-chase against somewhat competent survivors.

  • @pidgeon said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4091488#Comment_4091488

He has one of the strongest ranged powers in the game when used properly, I speak from experience as I play as and against him constantly. I just opted for changes that make him more punishing to play.

Same could be said about any projectile-based killers. I'd say a Huntress has much better projectile that can do the job as Jason's spear and she has more than 1 of those.

His spear isn't that easy to aim and requires sufficient amount of precision to use it mid-chase. It isn't special and Jason does get slowed down while aiming, just like any other range killer so there's absolutely nothing that would make his spear really strong compared to what already exists in the game.

  • @HoodedWildKard said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4091478#Comment_4091478

The killer instinct is OP combined with the ranged attack because it lets him pre aim through walls. I'm happy with a bigger range to trigger the scream and it not being counterable by crouching.

I'm more for a recovery after throw than I am a pickup animation. The throw m1 double tap is starting to get hugely annoying. Because the spear blasts you in a direction that often slams you into a wall so you either don't gain distance or actively lose it when you get pushed into a dead end and he doesn't even miss a beat just keep strolling towards you. There's a reason killers have a wipe animation after hitting an m1. After taking a ranged attack from jason you need to be able to get a bit of distance to avoid the follow up m1.

He can't see survivors who don't work on gen or move while in omni-present mode. Getting out of it is already quite disorienting for a player, without a killer instinct and scream it would be a terrible power to use.

His spear shot is already difficult because he needs to raise a spear and aim which are not instant. This means if there is any obstacle or corner then there's a high chance to miss the spear and every missed spear is a huge distance and time loss for this killer.

As for getting a distance after getting speared - you do get that already. So long as you don't get skewered to a wall, the spear shot does push you in the direction of the shot itself, giving you the distance that you would had received from the boost that survivors get after being damaged.

  • @pidgeon said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4091471#Comment_4091471

He only really needs a couple mild nerfs such as: no totem/locker mist, and make it so scrap piles just aren't in the center of loops.

He is an M1 killer with a mediocre and unreliable projectile. Practice a bit more against his spear shots and you'll see how slow and weak he can be if he doesn't land those ''amazing'' shots mid-chase.

Literally read my posts. Nerfs I suggested here were reasonable. And in the other post I made I explicitly said I don't want to see him gutted like skull merchant.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4090849#Comment_4090849

I did read and he doesn't need nerfs.

People need to learn how to deal with a spear and for that they need to play as Jason some games so they can see how it feels like to use the spear.

His omni-presence power is the worse version of Wrath's invisibility, but it has a compensation in form of ability to move between floors.

He isn't as strong as many people think. Shooting his spear isn't that easy and every time he does miss he gets sufficiently punished for that already.

  • @HoodedWildKard said:

I'm not saying to remove one of them completely. But it is true that either one on their own would make for a viable killer. But both powers just have way too many upsides for the killer. They need toning down.

He shouldn't get any haste at all after leaving OE

he needs some kind of slowdown on his ranged attack (animation to pick up and recovery after a throw)

And he shouldn't get killer instinct after leaving OE, just a scream notification.

Yes, let's gut him so he becomes another Krasue or Skull Merchant.

  • @Royval said:

Krasue release all over again everyone is playing Jason because he’s piss easy and free wins. You see the outcry.

Learn to play as Jason so you can figure out his strength and weakness.

He currently doesn't need any nerfs.

  • If you are suffering so much from being slugged that often - use unbreakable or any other perk that allows you either to recover or get to your team mates faster. Slugging is a part of the game and in some cases it can be the only viable option left for a killer.

If you got slugged once or twice then do what is often recommended - move on to the next game. After all, you won't be getting slugged 10 times out of 10 games, right?

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

I honestly think that this sounds rather boring for the person who does the support role.

If the role involves searching for survivors, damaging them and getting them downed - it could be fun.

I'd think of a pet-like system where entity offers a different pet to a player to choose from. Each pet would have it's own strengths and weaknesses and would join another player who would play as the killer. That way we get the 2v4 mode where people can go hunt survivors together.

  • @skylustv said:

We all know how bad this killer is for chases, giving her ambush an insta down would help her alot. If Billy has map mobility + insta down why Pig cant have it too? I'm so done of the same killers on tier S list, lets start buffing outdated M1 killers. Even if there's a 20 sec cd on it, her ambush should really insta down survivors

I'd rather let her restock her traps somehow instead.

  • @Mooks said:

healing Animation may be a bit too complicated as it has to work from any angle and its not like it will make any more logical sense as to have one healing animation for chainsaw, bear trap and Hammer wounds..

do you have something specific in mind here? Or any games you think did it better?

They could be using band aids, patches, wraps or w/e first aid stuff from their pockets or something. There are plenty of options that would make more sense than what we currently have.

  • It's a horrible perk but survivor mains will defend it since it's often wasted on gens that aren't progressed much and is easy to counter.

It should offer more than other gen perks and have some reasonable changes to be picked over other regression perks. At it's current state it's just useless when you can use other perks that have such high requirement as hooking a survivor.

  • I still wonder why BT timer isn't paused when survivor has been unhooked and is being healed. It would make sense to pause it's duration for that survivor so long as they haven't moved yet.

  • 3 sprinters, 3 medics, 2 engineers. Have fun playing 2v8 with killers who have no mobility.

  • @100PercentBPMain said:

idk. I play ghoul and get whooped but then I bust out the no power krasue and suddenly Superior Anatomy is too OP.

I think the role is fine if you set goals for yourself or try to play a certain way

If your goal is to be a clown and entertain 4 other persons - sure thing.

If your goal is to win a match or have some sort of fair and competitive experience - not today buddy.

As for killer bots - these should had been added for lots of reasons by devs. The only killer bots we have now are for 2v8 and those who teleport and insta-kill survivors for lulz.

  • @SoGo said:

    How about no.

4-man flashy squads are a pain to deal with.

Ironically a 4 man flashlight squad is the best thing for a killer since that means at least 2 of them will always circle around the downed survivor and not doing a gen. Eventually they will do a mistake and will end up either slugged or wounded.

As for the topic - if only perks on survivor side that ruin fun for the killer would be addressed…..

  • Don't be surprised that against somewhat capable survivors it's 1k average rate on most killers unless you tunnel someone out asap. I'm not going to mention a stack on swf with voice or subtle MS or MH cheaters - getting any kill there can be a huge achievement already.

  • I'd rather see devs program bots to not crouch and lose distance when chased by any killer. They also shouldn't be such cowards and be more altruistic in situations where they could unhook player or rescue them.

  • Surely I did. It's about a killer who is extremely outdated and can be on par with an average M1 killer only when both of addons are of the highest tier possible.

  • @Valuetown said:

This fearmongering is exactly what I mentioned in my post. "They aren't popular!!" Says who? I see Krause every 5th game, usually right after 2 blights, a ghoul, and any random killer.

I'm not saying nerf her to being useless. I'm asking for any amount of counterplay in chase if she's going to have an auto locking projectile.

When I play survivor, I get like 0 Krasue out of 20 matches. Go figure.

As for kill rates - people already mentioned killers like Cenobite who in reality is one of the worst killers at the moment against remotely competent players but can be a pubstomper like any other killer against people who either don't know or simply refuse to play the game.

Don't rely on kill rates - they include throwers and griefers too and their number is currently way too high. It's the reason why some killers may feel overpowered with an average or 3ks or so but all that happens because survivors intentionally feed themselves so they can move to the next game which so far is not regulated in any way.

  • How about leaving the killer alone?

Seriously, this crusade of gutting killers who already aren't that popular has to end before everyone gets the Skull Merchant or Knight tier.

  • Game needs a proper equalizer mechanic where things change when one side is clearly performing too well compared to another. Unfortunately devs refuse to do that and delegate that to ''randomness'' of everything and it's MM system.

  • Yes, let's gut killer more so the bad blight players stop playing as him, leaving only tryhards and mains who will start playing this killer in the scummiest way possible because nothing else will work for him.

Sometimes I wish people would use their brain and understand that making killer less enjoyable to play will only keep casuals and less experienced players away from the said killer. Those who have figured out how to make the killer efficient ain't going to go anywhere.

Dbd's offical Discord has chat channels for SWFing. That's cool you think it's cheating but I don't think they agree. Lots of popular streamers openly use Reshade. Again, don't think they agree with you.

One could ''advocate'' that tools like Reshade is a sort of ''accessibility'' tool, but I'm sure the existing options in the game should suffice for a convenient play. If the options provided by the said thing would really help people who NEED them, then I'm quite certain devs would had addressed that thing. So far there's a neutral stance on this, but it's obvious that this thing can provide an advantage.

Discord is pretty much the same thing. I believe there's no need to elaborate what voice communication via such program does and how much impact it can have over the in-game options.

People who use these things may deny that these programs give any sort of significant advantage to them upon use as much as their heart desires, but that won't change the fact that their use is pretty much unfair. As for the devs - they simply don't want to ''upset'' the majority of their player base which ironically in this case ( as in many other problematic cases ) are survivor players since killers can't benefit much neither from Reshade nor from Discord Voice communication.

  • @Dinadin said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/466329/i-somewhat-understand-the-tunneling-now

If you wouldnt have played killers for years, you would have gotten survivors that hardly even know how to loop whatever many pallets there are. Your story doesnt really work. Nobody needs tunneling at all. Killers just love to make this a self-fullfilling prophecy for them.

For the first 5 - 10 matches, maybe. After that, things do change.

In case you don't know, the so-called MMR low cap still exists so no matter if you come after a year or a decade, if you have surpassed the cap, the game will still ''know'' that you are experienced player, just a bit rusty. It will conveniently ''feed'' you some beginners or other rusty players who are below your cap so you can ''warm up'' a bit, then you'll be thrown into the battlefield and fight like every game is your last.

  • @cogsturning said:

You're literally inviting them to do so by advertising. What do you expect?

Does third party communication mean Discord? And what does Reshade have to do with anything? These are all really different things.

It's about having an advantage that does not exist within the game itself and is obtained with the use of 3rd party tools.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Why is it important to say that those two usually play Survivor? Just curious.

And well, there is a difference between Streamsniping and using third party software. If you use your Twitchname ingame, you have to expect that Killers might streamsnipe you. Sure, streamsniping sucks, but to be honest, it is on your own risk if you want to advertise your stream.

I dont really understand this post, since the difference between streamsniping and using third party software is quite big.

Survivors are more likely to be the cheaters than killers.

There's simply too much fun to cheat as survivor, like ''outplaying'' a killer with wallhack and speedhack. Getting a down as a killer with these things turned on certainly won't give the same ''dopamine boost'' effect. Also messing with Killer while being in SWF with cheats on must be the top tier extasy feeling to such people.

  • You can still get few gens done and earn some BPs. After all, it doesn't take too much to lose intentionally, besides, there's always a chance killer will ''calm'' down and there will opportunity for you do stuff, like some tricky quests.

Defending Ghoul and calling that others are lacking brainpower is quite ironic. Ghoul is basically the prime example of dumbing down the Killer role. If you have no success with Killer or refuse to learn how to play Killer, you can just play Ghoul and have easy games with a lot of payout.

Ghoul is an example of some people refusing to learn the game.

If you think he is so easy to play as - try him against somewhat competent survivors. Also, give him a go with controller or on console.

Debates like this is the reason why I refused to buy a new chapter. I'm tired of seeing somewhat interesting killer ( even with questionable perks ) being gutted to the point where it is no longer picked ( say hi to Skull Merchant, Krasue, Knight and others ) because whining and throwing tantrums still draws too much attention of devs from real problems and leads to un-needed changes instead.

  • Killer who requires a Line of Sight to down survivors and the map with lots of corners to hide aren't exactly great combination.

The pallets are mostly trash. A pallet between two rocks isn't even worth talking about.

Such pallets shouldn't be greeded but instead be pre-dropped so they create a loop that many killers can lose time on dealing with.

Tunneling becomes a mandatory if survivors can maintain a ratio of 1 for 1 and killer is still ''spreading hooks''. Once you see 2 generators left and only 3 hooks done on different survivors, that is the moment where there are two options - eliminate someone asap or lose. Some people are too entitled to understand that not every killer can afford being ''kind'' in such situations, hence why tunneling is required if one side does wish to win and not just ''entertain'' another.

‹ 1 2 3 … 16
