Not whataboutism. If you really wish to push that comment, please tell me how that term even remotely applies.
DH's high risk/reward is you either get to run a lil longer, or you are going down. Get slowed down? That wouldn't matter because we simply go down. DH is a hit or miss perk, if we hit it, we get to run some more, if we miss it, we're hooked. Survive or die is literally the survivor options.
Extending chases isn't a good argument, I agree. So alright!! But all the exhaustion perks do exactly that if they perform correctly. So yeah, guess that was redundant. Apologies!
Sadako? She would be one to suffer from DH in this pallet example, sure. This isn't a terrible thing, just part of the game. Clowns example is moot: its his own power. It's DH's fault he can't see going into his cloud? That's not on the surv or perk really.
Regardless, DH isn't this terrible beast you're making it out to be, imo anyway. There's plenty of counter play, and this 'AT THE PALLET OMG' is such a specific event that isn't always relevant. If we're talking about only this interaction, then I actually want to step out of the conversation.
You bring up Eruption in a Dead Hard thread, and immediately state how it is worse than DH. That is literally how Merrian Webster defines it.
Regardless, you misunderstand my point about the whole "high risk/high reward" thing. That's probably on me, though. I'm just being pedantic about how you put nothing on the line that you wouldn't have risked by simply not bringing DH. There is no downside to running it. I'm not saying there should be, but it's not a good argument for DH either.

Uh, yeah. We want to avoid that whole 'going down like normal'. At least that's why I use it. It gets counterplayed more than its successful. It also requires good timing, etc. blah blah. Eruption requires none of this. It simply wins. Literally the difference between the two perks, and everyone wants to compare them as if they were equal. They are both highly used meta perks. One prolongs a chase, which for a lot of people is the most fun part of the game. The other stops players from playing the game.
There is no comparing. DH is good at low and mid tiers. Highly skilled killers will easily bait it or do something I probably cant even think of. The higher you climb the MMR or whatever it is now, the worse DH becomes.
Eruption is good at all tiers, with a SWF on comms being the 'counterplay'. Eh, if this doesn't help you understand, then lets keep going!
Blatant whataboutism, but okay.
I haven’t actually heard what you risk losing when you use DH. There’s no question about there being a high reward. An actual high risk would be if you got slowed down if you DH’d too early.
The fact that the chase is the most fun for some players is a very, very bad argument for why DH, or any exhaustion perk for that matter, should extend chases.
”High skill killers” more like high tier killers. What is a Sadako gonna do against a DH at a pallet? Or Clown, who can’t even see that they used it because of the gas?

Ah, you very clearly weren’t around during the time Balanced Landing did this even when on cooldown.
Infinites were an actual thing because of it.

"I have some ideas on possible rework ideas, but I know they'd not be a compelling alternative to how strong Dead Hard already is, and it would just anger those reading, so I'll leave them out of this post."
Good because i doubt you'll have a good one. Dead hard was intended to be a high risk high reward in your face perk. And the survivor should be rewarded if they managed to pull it off successfully or be punished when it fails. Its has a counterplay.
Have yet to find out what you’re actually risking tho. If it fails, you didn’t lose anything—you just go down as normal.
A perk slot? Surely that’s not “high risk”.

DbD Mobile by BHVR did the visual TR, Bloodmarket, detailed pings and bots before NetEase came onto the scene.
The fact is, DbD Vanilla was made in an entirely different way, by people who never so much as dreamt that the game would become a massive success. Both Mobile versions, however, had the opportunity to build the game from the ground up, and look at what that got them. Not to mention that NetEase has way more resources at its disposal in just about every way.
You’re holding them to an unreasonable standard.
-
You… you want a 20 second cooldown on Dead Hard?
Do you realise how short that is?
-
I’ve actually found DbD has become less demanding than most AAA titles.
RE2make had my fans on max at all times, only calming down a bit on the lowest settings. whereas DbD on medium puts them on a steady mid-range.
-
I noticed that some users (including myself at some point) have a sort of bio on their profile. I accidentally deleted mine, but I can't find where I could edit it again. I'm assuming we simply can't.
GBK has one right now, as does Cheers. The latter having one, and the actual text it features imply it's the same text as the first post on their wall. I recall my own bio also being the same text as my first wall post.
Would it be possible to edit the bio's for ourselves?
-
DbD players really do say the weirdest things huh

Kill switch is for things that don´t work as intended.
What makes you think that Sloppy isn´t working as intended?
Sloppy affecting the speed at which you open gates seem very unintended, indeed.
-
??
Besides maybe the swaying strength being bugger, you lost 1 second of wiggle time. And that was if you hit all skillchecks.
What are you even on about
Also, the moment hooking can be denied with some consistency, killers will simply not try to anymore. Then your saboteur and boil over are useless.
-
It’s 6 tallies. Highly doubt it’s anything outside of the game itself.
-
"because EAC hasnt a heart"
wonder what that means
-
Yes, I do miss it.
-
They’ve been able to gather data on eruption for half a year now. I wouldn’t call it a knee-jerk at all.
-
For some reason, the game thinks that Blight has voicelines now, despite it only being a thing with the Birkin skin.
-
I feel like Lady D. has a very simple issue: She's just too big.
A not insignificant part of what is striking about Lady D. is her sheer size. For her to work in DbD she'd need to be shrunk down significantly if you don't want her to clip through basically every doorway. I just think that would severely lessen what she was in RE8. Nemesis already got shrunk down somewhat for DbD, sure, but the lady is far taller than Nemesis.
As for the other lords, not sure if I'm sold on Heisenberg as a Trickster skin. He essentially has telekenesis so i guess "throwing" knives could work, but they'd need to do a significant overhaul his animations if they want it to be faithful.
Moreau is an easy Blight skin, though now that he has Birkin I don't really see him getting another Legendary.
Donna and Angie as Twins could work, but again, they'd need to majorly overhaul the animations and also the props used.
-
Not every perk exists to be competitively viable. Some just exist to fulfill a thematic purpose.
-
Dumbed down? Really?
-
I have to wonder why they don’t just killswitch ‘em at this point.

I noticed it. 7 hooks and 0 kills in one match this evening and I got an Entity Displeased and it used to be Brutal Killer at least.

Yeah I'm very curious.
It's just kill-based now. 0 is "The Entity Hungers..." 1K I'm not sure, 2k is Brutal, 3K is Ruthless and 4K (or 3K + hatch) is Merciless.

Yea but there could be an issue because I got "merciless killer" severely times with 3k+hatch escape
I reckon that might be intentional. 3K + hatch already has special treatment MMR-wise.

Is there different menu or chase music?
He has Wesker's menu music, but default Blight chase music.
-
WOAH what??
-
I mean, it could be seen as a measure of how well you did that match. But as a measure of MMR… that makes no sense. A low-level survivor is going to be making the same amount of BP in Objective as a “high”-level player. Especially when perks like Prove Thyself fill up your Objective category in no time.
Not to mention the disparity between certain killers’ Deviousness score events. Plague vs Blight, for example. Plus the difference between killer BP gain and survivor BP gain.

Pink Glyph? Flashlight save?
Many options here.

Sounds like you need to read up.

Usually, it's pretty funny. Other times, it will occupy my mind for the rest of the evening, trying to figure out why they thought I'd be cheating.
Also, Aven's "you know why" is very familiar. It just amplifies what I'm already feeling.

Can you please give me a link for a Support Ticket, I have a video saved.
Submit a request – Dead by Daylight
there you go
also, you'll want to upload the video to youtube or some other video sharing site, and then post a link to that video on your report. It doesn't like people uploading videos directly.
-
It ain't that hard, folks.
Good on you for reporting it, but posting about it here won't do anything.
-
Great to see the mail cats at it while the pigeon is on leave
Have a smol birb to return the favour

That's weird. Idk if it's platform specific but I'm on xbox and I still have the noose icon for my dead dawg offerings.
Also personally don't see the issue with them changing it. There are more important things to worry about than the imagery being changed.
Anyone genuinely against changing it from to avoid suicide trigger warnings is pretty sad imo.
It’s from the PTB. It’ll be changing when the patch drops.

@Little_Kitten said:
The icon was changed because it could make people think of dark thoughts, like suicide.
What does the icon correspond to?
Oh, the map where you can see a man hanging next to a generator.
You didn’t read Peanits comment I cited, huh?

They don't look any more out of place than a vast majority of cosmetics in the core game do:

Eh. It's in character for trickster.
NetEase is far, far worse, though.

And the core game does? With anime characters, giant bunnies, and purple elephants running around?
Look at those and tell me they don’t look wildly out of place.
Mr Puddles not being seen as scary is the entire point of the costume. He’s still a homicidal psychopath carrying around severed and licked fingers.
Same for Robbie, although I have a hunch they were a specific request from Konami.
I’ll give you the AoT collection, but even then that kind of thing happened once. (Or twice if we’re counting the CryptTV collection too.)
-
Because NetEase has absolutely no regard for artistic integrity.
-
I think they’ve stated that, in order for this to be a thing, they would need to redo the entire game from the ground up. Almost 7 years in, I really don’t see them doing that.

I've been using him with Nurse's Calling (so I can see the survivors healing and can drop a Ghost Boy on their head while I chase the other one). It...kind of works. Usually still not very useful for getting any hits but they have to stop healing and it will distract two people as on has to run from the ghost while the other one has to run from me.
That sounds like an ideal opportunity to use Sloppy Butcher.
-
I found the Knight dominates on indoor maps, where he can cut off survivors that are forced to keep running forward. Midwich in particular seems to benefit him tremendously, as does RPD. Gideon might be an outlier, but I haven’t had a Game…game as Knight yet.
Beyond that, he’s kinda weird to balance. You don’t want guards to guarantee hits, but at the same time they’re hopelessly bad at actually patrolling over long distances.
I will say I had tremendous success with him on the current PTB with Lethal Pursuer. With the orb vanishing at a long enough distance, I found you can drop the carnifex right on top of them starting a gen and get chase pressure almost immediately.

Cool! Is there an ETA yet?
Likely Tuesday next week, but no date has been announced.
-
They were supposed to arrive the week before BHVR went out of office for the holidays, I think. Though Mandy said the team responsible for it was down a few folks due to illness or something like that.
You can trust me when I say I've been checking regularly.

Since the anniversary chapter was original, I reckon this is going to be year 7’s second licensed chapter.
As for what it is… I haven’t the foggiest.
(and that’s a good thing)

it's not live yet.

There's really no way to say this without it being dark, so fair warning, this answer is going to be pretty dark.
These days, nooses aren't typically used for executions like they were in The Deathslinger's time. Instead, they are more closely linked to self harm. While the gallows in the Grave of Glenvale have obvious context (gallows were used for criminals), the offering icon didn't quite have that same context on its own. For those struggling with depression, the icon could be an unnecessary reminder of the thoughts they may be trying to avoid. Rather than leave it as is, we decided it would be best to switch the icon to something else that would also fit the theme of the map.
On a related note, if anyone you know is struggling, please point them towards resources that can help them. I would suggest: https://www.takethis.org/mental-health-resources/

you are crying about a company trying to make money (their entire goal)
it is also a VIDEO GAME. if you are a responsible person you can control your wallet and not impulse buy, and if you don’t want to buy the skin then just don’t buy it????
Cosmetic microtransactions, the act of paying for virtual items that customize certain parts of video games and virtual worlds such as skins that change the appearance of the avatar, are looked upon more favorably in the gaming community than performance-enhancing microtransactions, where one pays for virtual items that enhance the abilities of avatars or speed up the progression of the game. Video game industry spokespeople have adapted this rhetoric and emphasized that the microtransactions in their games are for cosmetic items only with no bearing on gameplay. However, the way players use cosmetic items in games and the way cosmetic items inspire certain game mechanics suggest that their function in games isn’t purely ornamental. Using Fortnite as a case study, I argue that cosmetic items can influence gameplay and that the lucrative aspects of cosmetic microtransactions influence game design. Players use cosmetic items not only to be fashionable, but as tools to fashion their own metagames - games within, around, and outside of games. Game companies know that players care about cosmetic items and avatar customization, and they design their games to make cosmetic items as desirable as possible. Cosmetic microtransactions help us understand that visual design is one of the biggest influences on gameplay and the business of games. -
People really don't know what a rework even is anymore, huh
