Legion is a prime example that after a proper rework, the community would accept or even like a certaint killer. They just messed up now twice (thanks for correcting me, it would be indeed a re-re-rework). Time to make it right.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3663488#Comment_3663488
Agreed. SM is misserable to play against and i dont even care what anyone else says about her, which is really rare. She feels exactly like the old Legion. Only hate for that killer, sorry.
Legion is a prime example that after a proper rework, the community would accept or even like a certaint killer.
But that takes time. Remember how players would still DC against Legion, even after the rework?
Unfortunately, some of the hatred towards Skull Merchant will never disappear, even if her power no longer causes an actual problem for the game. At least not in the same way as Old Legion or her original iteration.
As for the question, I doubt she will be getting changes anytime soon. If it happens it will be after the anniversary.

Pretty sure it was back in early 2023 (EDIT: maybe during a Summer event of 2022?) when there was a Lunar New Year event that midway thru coincided with a Double BP special that (I’m pretty sure) Devs gifted the community to compensate for something that negatively impacted everyone.
Think that’s how it happened.
Anyway, every match was 5 100+% BP offerings with Double BP aside from that.
Every match was upward of 100k, with some farming matches achieving much higher.
Everyone was, even newer players were, able to P100 at least 1 character; and Many people were multi-P100’ing.
P100 means nothing of necessarily equating to higher skill level.
Really? Ah, I shouldn't have missed that.
My Freddy would be a P100 by now.

I really wish they’d do like a certain Company that shall not be named and give us a Classic mode. I wanna see what I missed since I started with Demopuppys release.
Also, I’m not fond of long(or short) games and think they should be about 10-15 (maybe 20) on average so I’d be okay with them removing the hatch and just adding a timer. If the survivors don’t escape at like the 30 minute mark, they get sacrificed but the killer doesn’t get the points for their death. I’m sure it’s an unpopular opinion.
Oh, a classic mode would be so fun! I know I'd love it!
And honestly, I like longer trials. It is good to have a match where there is actually time for things to happen and no one is in a rush to finish the objective as quickly as possible.

Yeah exactly. It sucks when people ruin like pretty cool stuff for others. EGC is super limited now you gotta make quick decisions, I over all very much enjoyed the interaction and breathing room from before for like interesting builds, and plays. I completely understand why it had to change, but those were some good times.
They were, yes. It was a completely different way to approach the Endgame, and I wish we still had that. There is no fun in rushed plays.

Old endgame used to be so much more fun when the playing field was equal.
I really liked it! There was actually time for interesting plays to happen, it wasn't just a matter of leaving ASAP.
-
The time when EGC didn't exist.
This is an extremely unpopular opinion around here, but I really dislike having a timer at the end of the game. Or having to 99% doors.
I think a different solution could have been found to solve the issue of survivors holding the game hostage.

Huh. I didn't know that!
The more I read about the Freddy rework, the more it seems like a weird downgrade. I mean, we went from that to "He can teleport to generators and leave pools of blood that make survivors scream." The thematic inconsistency alone seems weird, given that BHVR normally tries to stay true to the character of licensed killers.
It was a terrible change, my friend. It was poorly received by OG Freddy mains, it was poorly received by survivors, it caused massive complaints which eventually led to a nerf, and to Freddy's current state.
And it took my favorite killer, the one thing that matters most to me in DBD, away.

That sucks. There was literally no reason to remove it completely. They could have implemented it to his animation when he sets blood pools.
I hope they give him a new make over soon.
There was also a visual effect when trying to hit an awake survivor. It was unique to him, and we also don't have that anymore.
But I have hope, my friend! I think things will change for the better.

I always considered Distortion to be fine before it was buffed to regenerate tokens. Sure it meant it ran out and became an empty slot, but in the process of using it you learned exactly what aura perks a killer did or didn't have (well, up to 3). That's valuable info and it serves you throughout the game, you learn a killer has BBQ so you preemptively hide in a locker before the next hook, or you learn a killer doesn't have Nurses Calling so you finish up your healing even in the TR, etc.
I think some of that higher level of play has been lost with easily regenerated tokens. I know I think a lot less about how the killer can see me when I run Distortion and just focus on making sure I have at least 1 token as much as I can. It's a lot less to think about.
I think the regeneration could be reworked to be a bit more measured but still accessible. Either:
1. Tokens only regenerate in chase, not just in the TR. This makes it a little fairer verses Undetectable killers, and it feels more "earned" as you need an at least sonewhat decent chase to regain them. You're trading killer engagement at one moment for stealth to evade the killer at another later time.
2. Tokens don't regenerate, but they are fully replenished after each hook. This similarly trades engagement for stealth, but not so contingent to maintaining long chases, and it kinda serves as a light anti-tunnel perk too.
This.
Not much to add here, my friend, I agree completely.

When Lery's rework first came out I loved it so much. Visually it was and is stunning & well made. Then I played on it for several trials. Appeal evaporated quickly. 😕
To me it was just... bad. A single patch and my favorite map in the game was taken away, just like that. Heh, just like my favorite killer.
But I never thought I would lose all of them. Except Swamp, for now.
-
Nope, probably not. It doesn't really help to know if your teammates are doing a gen or totem if you will go down quickly because the map is one big deadzone.
The extra information is helpful (although they didn't have to overhaul the entire HUD for it), but it isn't everything. If going back in time was possible in this game, we could actually have a way better Solo Queue experience, simply because survivors had more resources to work with.
It doesn't even have to be 2016 levels of survivor's strength. We can find a sweet spot.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
@GeneralV have you ever been reported dear friend?
Honestly, I am not sure. I've been accused of wallhacking once, because the survivor stayed inside a locker for so long that they already had three crows, but for some reason they thought I would be unable to find them.
I do wonder if they actually reported me for that.
-
Freddy, of course.
Very faithful to the remake, including his Mori. I also love how his power used to have Nancy's face in it.
-
It used to be Léry's, before the map reworks. I loved the creepy hospital aesthetic and back then it was an excellent map for Freddy.
I suppose my favorite map still is Léry's, but it just doesn't feel the same anymore.

Could have been a Prayer Beads Bracelet Spirit. 🤔
Come to think of it, it couldn't have been Startstruck Nurse anyway because this was the old HUD and Trickster was released after they changed it.
Wish I could remember her build. It would be nice to know what exactly got those players down so quickly.
And yes, my friend,, this is indeed before Trickster and Starstruck. I think it is from the Silent Hill Chapter's release, but I could be mistaken.

Agreed. Laughing makes it all the more bearable.
And was that a Startstruck Nurse by any chance? Whenever I something like this happened, I always thought of Startstruck Nurse.
It does, indeed. Definitely better than complaining about every single SoloQ trial that goes horribly bad.
And actually it wasn't a Starstruck Nurse. When this screenshot was taken, Starstruck didn't exist. It was a Spirit, and to this day I still have no idea how did she manage to do that.

It's a bit more nuanced then that. I'd a survivor gave me a good game, some fun chases and then kobe, I still nod at them and let them off the hook, but I expect them not to unhook the others and will chase them and shake my head. Sometimes you see them plead for a certain survivor, probably their duo SWF friend, and I usually allow that unhook, too. But if they start to unhook unconditionally, then everyone is fair game.
BUT (here comes the but) 9/10 of the time it's that obnoxious survivor that t-bagged and flashy clicked you at every opportunity and really was a log between your legs the whole game, that miraculously pass their 4% chance and you can bet your ares off that I'll hunt them down and put them on the hook again.
In the end, kobe is a hope mechanic that is in the game to offer survivors at least a small chance in unsurmountable dire situations, but the chances are actually not that bad when you got a "Myers/Oni downed everyone at the exit gates" situation, that was a stellar play of the killer, and then they get shot in the leg by the 4%, that feels really awful and unearned: survivors massively misplaced, yet get off the hook, literally, by the roll of a die.
Just imagine if a killer had a 4% chance to instantly down and mori a survivor, if they got less then 3 hooks and the EGC starts. People would bemoan this lucky hope mechanic rightfully. But on the other hand, it happens so rarely that my whole match devolves around one lucky kobe, and killers are in such a good spot generally, that I actually don't mind enough.
Well, my friend, I think it depends on when the kobe happened and who managed to do it. Even back in the day, the 4% wasn't always respected. A toxic survivor was always unlikely to be granted mercy, regardless of their lucky kobe.
And of course, no killer would throw the game just because one survivor got lucky, but sometimes you get that scenario where the killer can have mercy towards a survivor who managed to kobe, without losing the game in the process. The "rule" applied to those situations, but it doesn't happen often anymore. Most of the time they just wait close to the hook to see if you will escape, and if you do you're just dead.
@[Deleted User] said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3659783#Comment_3659783
Totally agree friend & I will absolutely let anyone who gets the 4% go if everyone is hooked & they somehow get off they earned that luck it for me.
As for orginal post i'm sorry you get so annoyed by it but its a virtual statistical impossibility that it happens in every game its a high improbability it even happens in half of games.
Good reason for it? Not entirely sure I have one but having all 4 survivors slugged & then hooked on first hook if one of them gets the 4% luck was on their side end of, fair when the killer has won the game maybe not & a fair argument i've just never had an issue with it.
Though I'd swap the self unhook for 2 use deliverence personally.
Same, my friend! I really don't mind letting a survivor go if they managed to kobe. They definitely earned their escape.
-
I once had a survivor say the match was "easy", even though they were the first to die. I didn't hit them on hook or rage quit or did anything that players generally don't approve of, so I don't understand why they felt the need to say that.
But then again, I once had someone say they hoped I burned alive. There is no way of truly understanding why this toxicity happens, only that it does, regardless of how the match went.
I remember the good days when the end game chat had five ggs and nothing else. Wish that still happened.
-
Because it is a chance. A survivor's desperate attempt to escape and it can create some interesting plays.
It is so iconic that killers even had an unwritten rule of respecting the 4%, letting players go if they managed to kobe. That doesn't really happen anymore, but the mechanic's importance remains.
-
Nothing like a good dose of SoloQ, my friend:
When these moments happen, it is best to laugh and try to find some enjoyment.
-
Those difficulty ratings never made much sense.
Singularity is an extremely complex killer. When you play him there is a lot going on, and managing everything while also progressing your objective should be enough for him to be considered a Very Hard killer.
As @glitchboi said, Trickster is rated Moderate, but except for having to mindful of walls, his power is as straightforward as killers that are rated Easy, like the Wraith.
I don't understand why Freddy is rated Moderate, because being effective with him is actually Hard.

I wouldn't mind seeing more Freddy that play well. For the some reason on the rare occasion I do see him they just face camp. Not sure why they would play him like that. Haven't seen him since the AFC mechanic so not sure how those players are going now.
I got lucky enough to play against a Freddy earlier today, and he had a very difficult time trying to catch us. The face campers you played against might have thought it was the only way for them to get a kill, even if it is not an effective strategy with him.
But with the AFC, this is probably no longer a thing. Hopefully your future trials against Freddy will be fun.
-
It used to be part of the meta, a long time ago, and I wish it hadn't left.
-
Yes, it has.
And as far as I know, no one likes fast-paced trials. Players want to have enough time for things to happen in a match, and use their perks or strategies.
If I were to guess, I'd say it has to do with a shift in playstyles (I blame 6.1.0 for that) and Hex perks being no longer meta. And those things are really bad for the game.
-
Freddy.
I understand why he is rare, and I definitely do not blame anyone for not wanting to play him. But he will always be my favorite killer in the game, so I wish I saw him more often.

Oh yes you are right, the first Haunted by Daylight had it. Unfortunately it was replaced again in the last one. I wish they would reuse some of the old music for killer lobby music. The old Winter Solstice theme from 2017-2018 would fit perfectly on Wraith for example.
I also just looked up the Hallow's Eve lobby again and damn that gives me nostalgia.
I think it was easily the best lobby background they've ever done. And it was there when Freddy first released, so it is special to me.

The menu music with that lobby was one of the best. I wish they had used it for more than just 1 halloween event.
I think the music was used again, during one of the the Haunted by Daylight events, but the background never returned.

Yeah fair enough, the licensed ones may have to be locked behind paywalls though. I want to see the Silent Hill background come back, it was by far my favorite themed lobby. The neon aesthetic of the All-Kill background is also one I dig. The OG Winter Solstice background is an absolute masterpiece and I want it to come back as well since it was the first DBD event I partook in.
I would be happy to select the All Hallows' Eve background and never change it again.
-
@glitchboi said:
It's insane that they throw out all the effort they made for the different themed lobbies. At least make lobby backgrounds unlockable through buying their respective DLCs, cosmetics, or partaking in the event of the lobby background (for instance, owning a blighted cosmetic would unlock all Halloween lobby backgrounds, or owning at least one Iron Maiden collection cosmetic such as the shirts or legendary skins to unlock the Iron Maiden background).
I think they should just make them all available, and let us choose the one we want.

It is an eternal dedication to Freddy, my friend. If I didn't abandon him when his rework dropped then I never will :)
-
He would be perfect if he didn't play like a mini Blight.
His stealth and fake footsteps are amazing, and overall he is a good fit for the game. The dash is the only thing I dislike, but I am not sure what they could've given him instead.
-
Dredge and Singularity both look great!
The Unknown looks more goofy than scary sometimes.
-
I think they are a very good tile.
A classic tile with great opportunities for mindgames and fair for both sides.
-
I don't have a P100 character yet, but I'm trying to get there. I wasn't really playing DBD when the prestige system got changed, and I took a long break shortly afterwards.
Now I just want to catch up with everyone who already finished this journey for their own mains.
This is just guess, but I think some players that I go against might be a bit surprised by my prestige level, because I main Freddy. He is already pretty rare, so I don't think people expect to find someone who spends a lot of bloodpoints on him.
-
I actually think it was done because both of those add-ons used to inflict Hemorrhage. It makes sense for them to be changed together with the nerf to Mangled.
But this is definitely not a complaint! Those add-ons aren't bad, and this is proof Freddy is still on their radar.
-
I wouldn't go as far as to say the survivor experience is ruined, but the role has suffered a bit in recent updates.
MMR has a really negative impact on your trials, some maps have far too many deadzones, perks that didn't require nerfs but got nerfed anyway, and the list goes on.
Not terrible, but survivor isn't the best it has ever been.
-
I don't think he lived up to expectations. In terms of visuals he isn't bad, and I'm sure he can be made even better with cosmetics, but I think his power was a bit disappointing.

I think map offerings CAN be problematic. It's annoying as hell to down a survivor in the downstairs area of preschool, just to find out they have a loadout practically catered to making it impossible to hook if the basement isn't down there.
When it's pure RNG determining this, the survivor got lucky and it NORMALLY wouldn't be so bad with finding a hook even with a boil over+flip flop loadout. But... survivors can choose both the map AND the basement spawn location to customize their build for what otherwise would be a niche situation.
I've seen similar situations with the upstairs area of Hawkins. A SWF duo set up boon exponential downstairs and would lead every single chase upstairs to get downed. There's only 1 hook their boil over would allow the killer to get to, which would be immediately saboed. Map offerings allow this stuff to be planned before the match ever starts.
To be fair, the situations you've described are problematic due to Boil Over being a thing, rather than map offerings. Many players complain about this perk, and it would be healthier for the game to nerf or rework Boil Over.
