I have played this game since the beta was avaliable, and contrary to most people I preffer the new maps over the old ones. Old lerys being the only one id probably miss and even then I still preffer the new one. Old ormond looked dead af, legit boring looking. I personally cannot fanthon how I played in old coldwind, its a less saturated borgo, just an eyesore tbh. Notalgia can be one hell of a drug.
Now I am not saying that new maps are perfect, they can be visually horrible like borgo or an atrocity gameplaywise like garden of joy or both like eyrie of crows. However I think greenville is very good design, has good loops and amazing visuals, hope is not a lucky mistake but the map design team is getting better.
Notalgia can be one hell of a drug.
This isn't really fair, mate. Not everything is nostalgia or rose tinted glasses.
Sometimes people just have different tastes in graphics and aesthetics.

wait woah woah woah, wait a minute my friend. What about Sadako 🤨 you don’t wanna see her more often? It’s a rare occurrence.
Don’t make me come after you 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sadako isn't that rare, in my experience. Definitely not as rare as the other killers we've mentioned.

No hate, but I must ask, were you around when kill rates were around 49-53%? Were you not around when a dozen forum post were made per day complaining about high que times for survivors? I'd say it was about 2-2.5 or 3 years ago, give or take. It was one of the darkest times in DBD history. The game had become so survivor sided that a lot of killers just stopped playing. SO I can assure you, it ABSOLUTELY happened
I've seen this exact same claim time and time again, I'm afraid you'll have to be a bit more specific. I started playing DBD in 2018, but took a long break after the first Resident Evil chapter was released because the game was no longer enjoyable. Not sure if that helps.

Current Lery's looks like it's intentionally supposed to be built as this haunted hospital attraction. Old Lery's actually looked like a real hospital. I still like Lery's but old Lery's has a charm that the current one doesn't.
Precisely, my friend!
I'll tell ya, I LOVED the creepy hospital atmosphere. It was so good!

Nope, I've actually never seen that happen.

Yes 🙌 Freddy and Sadako. Singularity, and skull merchant for me 😍
I agree with Singularity and Skull Merchant, my friend.
Singularity is extremely rare, but I like going against him. Skull Merchant isn't as rare, but there is always someone who suicides on hook and ruins the game for everyone else.
I wish I saw them both more often. Way better than playing against Wesker or Blight over and over again.

Oh yeah, and part of me really wants to experience that old Trapper arming animation. It was really long, but it felt as if there was a lot more weight behind to the trap.
Yknow devs instead of Padded Jaws you could just reuse that old Trap setting animation.. wink
Don't see a reason not to. That animation was pretty cool, even if it was a bit long.
I know, my friend, that we don't always agree on what should / shouldn't be brought back to the game, but I like these discussions we have about the Old DBD.
At the end of the day we're both players who were here for a vastly different game :)
-
May I add my favorite map in the game?
I miss those maps so much, my friend.
We absolutely should have the option to choose which version of the maps we want to see in our games. DBD supports people playing on the same map with different lighting, so why not give us our maps back?

I mean, we finally for the kill rates at the 60/40 they should have always been at. I don't think that should change.
I recall when kill rates were closer to what survivors are currently calling for them to be. I remember when the kill rates were 49-53% on average. This didn't make the games more fun. It made killers straight up stop playing. DO you not recall The Great Killer Exodus, because I certainly do, and I remember what survivors were complaining about CONSTANTLY back then: Long que times.
Like I said, we finally got the kill rate right where they should be. Lets not rock the boat
At this point I've seen over 5 or 6 different claims of a "Killer Exodus", so it is hard to know what are we talking about. Or if they even happened in the first place.
The kill rates aren't exactly the problem (though they are part of it), it is mostly the way they were achieved. Making the game genuinely worse for survivors isn't exactly fun either.

Pallet Vacuums were truly an experience, especially mixed in with double pallets being everywhere, fillers (and just loops in general) being longer, and exhaustion recovering while running. All while original DS, DH, OoO and others being in the game.
Im convinced if the game went back to pre 2.0.0 for just a day, half the playerbase would be found dead.
Im convinced if the game went back to pre 2.0.0 for just a day, half the playerbase would be found dead.
But not the both of us, that is for sure.
pre-2.0.0 means Old Freddy, and I will go through a thousand pallets if it means having my favorite killer back.

I've seen back in the days a lot of killers who play nearly perfect, go from match to match against opponents of their level and lose many games in a row. And there is nothing surprising in this, game is very survivor sided in high level. I was very mid on both roles and was matched with the same/against level players, so i see nothing wrong with it initial state.
And after last softcap change i believe SBMM can be good. Question of my post is what should we sacrifice instead.
We shouldn't have to sacrifice anything. We should have a good matchmaking system that doesn't take forever to find a match.
Obviously we cannot expect it to be perfect, but we can expect it to be better. Which is why I believe MMR needs to go, and we can have Ranks back.
They were better than anything MMR has to offer, at least in my experience.
-
Knight.
-
Horribly designed power, but it is the Hindered effect that really makes him effective at tunneling.
You can loop him perfectly, and still go down because being hooked doesn't completely removes the infection. Being half infected as soon as you get unhooked is straight up dumb. It is bad for the game.
But that is just one of several aspects that makes him a problem.
-
Nope, I don't think this has anything to do with us.
Truth be told, this system has never really worked. Solo Queue became even more susceptible to its shenanigans, for SWF groups it barely mattered and killers often got matched against survivors who were far above their skill level.
I remember many overwhelmingly negative feedback from the MMR testing sessions, and I still strongly believe the system needs to be scrapped entirely. It has caused way too many problems and it isn't worth salvaging.

Dislike for facing a killer is not always related to the strength of the killer.
For example Legion is not strong by any stretch of the imagination but a lot of people don't like facing them because they're tedious with the constant mending.
I know some people who don't like facing Freddy because they just find him dull. They think his power is boring, the dream world offers nothing unique like it did with old Freddy where being awake or asleep really mattered for Freddy to interact with survivors.
This ^^
Well said, friend.
That is the main problem with Freddy, how dull he currently is. There is nothing truly special about him, not anymore, and this has an impact on how people feel when playing him, both as and against.
Back in the good old days, being awake or asleep mattered. Now, Freddy doesn't have much to offer. And to me, that is devastating.
-
Freddy.
I almost never see him :(
-
It is annoying and I refuse to do it myself, but ya can't really blame a killer for facecamping at the end of the game. There isn't really anything else they can do.
However, I still think DS shouldn't disable at the end game. Tunneling should always have a risk, and you should be allowed to use the perk if it lasted until the end.
-
Last time they tried to fix that Huntress was left basically unplayable. It is best to leave it as it is.

I think this area could still be accessed after they split the map, but I am not sure. I took a hell of a long break from DBD around the time the first RE Chapter released because the game was no longer enjoyable.

There was actually a vault there, iirc. As cool as it sounds, it was a horrible map to play.

Thank you for the nice words. I cooled off a bit now and I should probably take a break from DBD. It sucks that it's during the event of all times but this feels really terrible.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3681976#Comment_3681976
It didn't feel too different from the usual. I only start tracking my matches when something feels off. Prior to the event, I'd say it was about average, definitely not much better than normal.
I can take a few bad matches in a row. That's part of the game but with this amount of crap between cheaters (only counting obvious cheaters here), bad sports and Buckle Up + FTP iI'm at a loss.
Thanks for your suggestion, though. I'll think about it.

Though, I gotta say I haven't been playing Freddy that much recently. Still trying to get him to P100, but Claudette and Sable are acting as his sugar mommies for Bloodpoints. If I feel like playing killer, I am going with Skull Merchant.

The devs knew SM was busted for a year because they have the data, and they did nothing. How is any killer with a 70% kill rate not being hotfixed asap. This game can no longer be taken seriously as a competitive game.
It never was a competitive game, and it most likely never will be.
Besides, Skull Merchant's kill rates are caused by hook suicides, not actual strength. She is not impossible to defeat.

I mean, while I also sometimes get Killers who jump back 3 meters before they get stunned, I dont really see an issue here. The issue maybe is Bloodlust, because at the not so safe Pallets a respect will result in a hit which can feel very cheap (since the Killer just has to wait a few seconds to be fast enough to get the hit), but this is not really an issue with respecting pallets.
And well, when I play Survivor the bigger issue I have is that sometimes I am meshing Space and the Pallet is just not thrown and I get hit. And as Killer it sometimes seems like my Hitbox is massive and I get hit while I am surely far enough away (I mean, apparently not, but at least it looked like I was far enough away to avoid getting stunned...)
when I play Survivor the bigger issue I have is that sometimes I am meshing Space and the Pallet is just not thrown and I get hit.
Same. This seems to be happening a lot recently and it is getting really annoying.
-
Ah, I know this feeling, my friend. Awful, isn't it?
I was having an AWFUL streak as Freddy before the event started. Wasn't managing to kill more than a single survivor, it was actually the reason why I started playing other killers a bit more than I used to.
Unfortunately, with MMR being awful as it is, there isn't much we can do. But I hope you get better trials soon.
-

It looks like they are much rarer than before. I spent the 1 Million BPs to get at least one Offering and one Map on every Survivor and I got way less than before. I barely got one Offering on the last 4 Survivors compared to the 37 Survivors where I got at least one Offering per Survivor with 2 Million BPs I had before.
I highly doubt this is a coincidence.
They seem rarer than they used to be, yes.

Surprisingly good!
I've had some really interesting games both as Freddy and Skull Merchant. As for survivor, SoloQ has been good lately, except for the occasional Weaving Spiders user.

The event tome doesn't take very long to complete and it's not like there's a reward to playing nice either. Regardless of an event currently active, there's no reason to expect the other side to play "nice". You might as well play effective.
Well, I've mentioned the event because some players tend to play less effectively during events. But this situation has been happening way before Blood Moon.
Ever since the DS nerf, actually.
And there will always be the knowledge that tunneling is frowned upon. Back in the day many killers would resort to it only if absolutely necessary, and we had both DS and BBQ to help against this strategy. If the knowledge that no one is having fun isn't enough to stop tunneling, then we need perks to solve the problem.
-
@Crowman said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3680730#Comment_3680730
The difficulty of the role doesn't affect best strategy. When Eruption/CoB/Overcharge was meta, tunneling was seen less as the best strategy was just to defend a 3-gen due to how powerful these perks were. Arguably, killers were even stronger than since it was shortly after 6.1.0 and there wasn't any survivor buffs/killer nerfs yet.
The devs simply don't create any valuable alternatives to making the match a 3v1 early, so killers are not going out of there way to do so. In the same way that Survivors don't just cleanse dulls because the value for doing so over making progress on a gen isn't there.
But in the current state of the game there is no reason to really force an early 3v1, especially during the event. It isn't being done because there is a need to, but because there is little to no counter.
Without DS to punish tunnelers or BBQ to serve as an incentive to not tunnel, this strategy spirals out of control. And that isn't fun for anyone involved.
-
@Crowman said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3680676#Comment_3680676
The killer's role is to eliminate survivors from the match. If you want to make it harder for killers to complete their objective, then they need better tools to defend gens. However, those tools have already seen nerfs because survivors also don't like it when killers focus on defending gens either.
The problem is many people just want to nerf everything killers can do to generate pressure which will only leave the killer role into a spot where it's no fun to play. Tunneling is extremely common nowadays, because a lot of alternatives have already been nerfed.
To be fair, killers are in an easy spot right now.
Not the easiest, nor the best or healthiest, but it is an easy spot. Obviously no one will win all of their trials, but not much is being put against killers rn.
By that logic we should have seen a decrease in tunneling, not an increase.
-
Everything we've ever had in the game being available. Old maps, old perks, old powers, the Moonlight offerings, old animations.
Please allow me to rebuild the old DBD in customs.

In my opinion, it would not be a good idea. Both Snares and Pallets are kinda useless, and using them together wouldn't really help that much. Not to mention the fact that it wouldn't fix the problem of him being boring to play.

200% is the last reward, actually. Unless they change it later.
The anniversary event has way more substantial BP gains.

Not much different than a regular Blood Hunt, except the event offering malfunctioning and cancelling everything else. For an event advertised as "BP based", it is a disappointment.
The anniversaries, or that legendary Blood Feast from 2017 would give us far better rewards. What this event offers is disproportional to what was said, in my opinion.
