  • Survivors genrush because there is no fun or reward in "looping" many of the newer killers. Why would a team of 4 team loop shack against a nemesis, or any other "Free hit" AI killer when windows and pallets don't mean anything? Better to just win as fast as possible and hope for a more fun killer next match. Even more so if that killer is camping or tunneling.

Newer players are taught to not interact with the killer, don't go for chases. All by the "modern" perk and killer designs which punish the things that made this game fun. People didn't sit on gens or at hook as much when the game was about chase instead of manipulating statistics to hand out participation trophy kills and escapes.

I wish a thread like this would remain open for a chance at a healthy debate - I do feel like Tru3 is an unfortunate victim of both the company and community alike.

It doesn't matter what Tru3's beliefs are, he was repeatedly (and publicly) provoked into a debate he clearly stated multiple times that he did not want to be involved in. It doesn't matter that the inciter is polite in his conversation, his advances were still unwelcome and Tru3's paying the price for this even more

    ---

It's akin to having a misisonary come to your door to discuss their religion multiple times, and refusing to leave until you acknowledge and discuss their point of view. Even worse, they have members of their church behind them to watch the debate.

Meanwhile you're being held hostage in your bathrobe and still have to get ready for work.

I can't imagine how annoying that must feel, shame he gets punished on top of that by the company too.

    Exactly.

  • Old ruin honestly made gens more interactive/fun/skill based. You aren't guaranteed a gen pop, and must struggle for it along with your team.

Sure eventually you learn to hit every single great check but the tension from knowing you might not hit it just feels different and better than "I walk to gen and get free pressure" like new ruin.

Old ruin kept bad survivors in their place. Out of red ranks.

  • Ranking up isn't based on skill in chase or gen pressure or anything related to what makes a good player.

Ranking up is farming a teammate twice and sitting on a gen while your teammates are slugged. You can rank up without ever once running from the killer or using a pallet.

Same goes for killer, camp and tunnel 2 people and now you're rank 1.

  • Show killer ping in lobby so you know exactly how early you need to press dead hard.

Your ping + Killer ping = Minimum time you must press dead hard before killer presses m1.

  • General Killer:

-More BP for facing a swf. Acknowledged post game.

-Rework Blindness effect. Only serves to harm solo survivors and does nothing to players on coms. Could prevent seeing skillchecks except for the great section. Knockout could be changed as well.

-FOV Slider with a max of current shadowborn. Shadowborn and M&A now provide higher Gamma/Brightness

    Hillbilly(Underpowered):

    -Remove overheat. Don't touch addons.

    Solo Survivor(Underpowered):

-Make kindred base kit without the killer aura reading/show teammates auras for 5 seconds after someone is hooked. Coms can provide this

-Show if any teammate is being chased, not just the obsession. Coms can provide this

-Add more emotes/Quick chat menu "Heal me" "Im on a gen/totem" "Stealth killer" etc. Coms can provide this

-Notify survivors when a totem is cleansed without a totem counter. Coms can provide this.

    -Show teammates rank/ping in lobby.

    -Show killer ping in lobby.

-Improve hit validation and latency correction or bring back a slightly smaller pallet vacuum if impossible to fix hit validation

  • Most people don't even pay attention to what they are doing to survivors. It's just becoming based around rank 10 players having a 50/50 chance of escaping, while anyone above or below is screwed. It's not about them keeping broken things in the game for survivor and killer, it's about what they remove from survivor while permitting it from killer because "Killer is hard".

They remove pallet vacuums, but keep killer hit vacuum(auto aim) in the game without a working hit detection system.

They remove infinite loops, but promote killers standing at hooked survivors infinitely.

They gut movement and make it easy for killers to get hits around corners, in 360s, and through pallets.

They gut toolboxes but allow slowdown perk stacking.

They replace most good loops with crappy filler tiles that only protect you from basic m1 killers 50% of the time.

They balance the maps around killers who only m1, so when you get a killer that is stronger the map can be broken in killers favor with little skill on their part.

Good killer perks make the game easier or require less thought, while good survivor perks are what are necessary to prevent dying to thoughtless tactics like tunneling off hook or being slugged on the ground for 4 minutes.

Now killers need AI to help them win too, insane slippery slope the games went down imo. I remember when killers had to work for their kills, now all they care about is the win screen and not how they got it.

  • @Sluzzy said:

Survivors need fixing before Billy. Billy with certain perks is still completely broken and a free win.

They gut survivor movement the same as they gut Billy animations. Survivor perks like his addons. Pallets etc.

It's like anything that took skill or was unique is unwanted in this game and replaced with cruise control playstyles and a no-thinking meta.

  • Most Billys I know don't really tunnel or camp, they're just trying to relive what they put thousands of hours into. So good survivors will escape at a decent rate, like they always have against billys. Or they are new to the game, can't use his saw and everyone gets out anyways.

To me, he is still the funnest killer in the game, with a great return on the amount of time you put into him. The bugs he faces are incredibly frustrating ex. pallet invincibility, window hit detection, general hit detection etc, but getting a sick curve feels so rewarding. More so than getting a hit with oni or blight to me at least. He is also heavily reliant on mindgames which are part of what makes this game so fun.

Thankfully the actual curving mechanic has not changed in a long time. Nothing in the game will compare to getting a flick with Billy, blight has auto aim, oni has no collision, nurse is easy. The risk and reward is so high it makes gameplay exciting, you can hit that curve you spent 10 seconds mindgaming and zoning the survivor into or they can sidestep and throw all that away and get to a new loop in your cooldown.

When I play games I like to feel accomplished, I care about the journey not the result. It would be easy to play nurse, avoid everything in the game and farm kills. But at the end of the day I want to feel like I worked for and truly deserved the kills I get, and with Billy I get that 100% of the time.

Where is the skill in spamming his ability?

You act like he is incredibly difficult to use, more than he really is.

You also underestimate how powerful his ability is, he can one hit down survivors which can cut a chase short and he can also travel the map at a great distance. An ability as powerful as that cannot remain in a spammable state.

He now requires more thought than just spamming his chainsaw away, so if the cooldown is too much of an issue for you, consider when to use it for a change. It's not a difficult judgment to make.

Where is the skill? You don't hit anything just by spamming it, he doesn't have auto aim like wraith spirit etc.

"If Billy uses his saw I go down" The kind of thinking the people who didn't like Billy had.

1v1 me if you think he is so easy to use. And we can do it without overheat.

Sorry, but if you want me to take you seriously then you'll have to back your argument with more than poorly made assumptions about me.

He didn’t have enough drawbacks to justify having a spammable one hit down ability that could also make him travel a great distance in a short amount of time.

So I ask again, what other killer enjoyed those benefits besides him?

5.5 seconds of time to gain distance isn't enough for you? Actually having a power you have to aim isn't enough? This is exactly what I mean when I talk about rank 10 players, they aren't abusing his cooldown, they aren't dodging or sidestepping, they are just whining they can't pre-throw and hide against him to win games.

You act like billy gets free hits like they are m1s, which shows you don't play him, or if you do then not very well. If you can't make it to another loop after he misses a saw you poorly positioned yourself. These aren't issues with Billy but your own playstyle.

  • @A_Skinny_Legend said:

There are too many assumptions about me in your post to take seriously. I am rank 1 as both killer & survivor. Billy had too little draw backs ( if any) to justify not having a cooldown.

Ok, maybe you can farm a teammate twice in a game and do a gen, big deal. Regardless, if you think "Billy had too little drawbacks" you didn't know how to play against him.

If he misses a saw go to a new loop, if he bumps you get even more time. Billy already had a cooldown but you think he needs 2?

  • "The Cannibal was one of our less-popular Killers, so we are pushing to lessen some of the character's weaknesses while chasing Survivors"-BHVR

They nerfed Billy because Bubba wasn't selling enough. Was the license complaining? Or are we just too focused on auto aim 5 chance m1 killers like blight to care about the characters that brought this game to where it is today?

  • @A_Skinny_Legend said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2229039#Comment_2229039

Sometimes the survivor is about to vault yet the killer is adamant about going for the one hit down. When Billy did not have his cooldown this was all there was. He shouldn't be able to spam his one hit down attack. Now he is required to be more selective about it.

So yes, because going for the one hit down will always be the better option, he would spam his attack when there was no cooldown.

Survivors like this had no clue on how to counter Billy. They think it took no skill to down them, weird because they've obviously never played Billy themselves. If you couldn't loop old billy, sorry to say but you are bad at the game. You could even loop an insta saw billy if you used your brain hard enough.

It's sad that the meta and overall design of old dbd is changing because rank 10 players like this are who BHVR are balancing the game for.

  • Tunneling is a valid strategy! Unless they are wearing the pride charm then it is harassment. Nice one BHVR.

I never trust the opinion of someone who thinks the issue with dead hard is just baiting hits. Dead hard acts as a literal 3rd health state and completley undoes any mistakes the survivors do. Nobody complains about whiffing cause of dead hard, dh for distance is the issue.

And no, dead hard for distance is absolutely nothing like bloodlust. Bloodlust helps the killers catch up to survivors, dead hard can instantly increase the time of chase by significantly longer by pressing one button.

Dead hard gives you like 2 or 3 meters of distance... People overexaggerate. And I never said "bait it out" because there are situations where you can't. That's why you don't follow survivors like a lost puppy and think about where they are headed IF they could dead hard.

Bloodlust is free distance in chase for doing nothing, dead hard is free distance in chase for staying injured and using a perk slot. Killers don't even have to press a button to decrease the time of chase against a good survivor who can loop. Bloodlust is ensuring free hits eventually, dead hard is avoiding free hits.

Get juiced for 15 seconds to outplay!

  • The game isn't "poorly optimized". Unreal engine 4 allows heaps of optimizations, more than many other game engines out there today. You could get this game to run at 60 fps on a laptop if you had the ability to edit the configs.

The problem is BHVR trying to make the game look realistic, so they lock certain UE4 config settings such as shadows, volumetric fog, frame rate smoothing, bloom, Anti Aliasing, Shader Complexity, Detail mode etc. which can cause massive problems for older pcs or even minor problems for decent pcs.

Even consoles could run 120 FPS if the config was done right.

  • No it doesn't need a valid reason. Many people are selfish and do it "Because I can" or "Why should I care" or "I play this multiplayer game like a single player game"... probably some of the most childish killers out there.

Have fun getting gen-rushed when people learn how to properly beat those strategies, so you can complain gen speeds need to be nerfed.

  • I'm tired of killers abusing auto aim and latency and not having to actually think about where they are swinging. Then they whiff because someone uses a perk to counter this very problem, that's been in the game since Starbreeze owned the license and go complaining.

Killers back then didn't complain anywhere near as much and thought dead hard was fine. Just use your brain, where is the survivor aiming? Is the survivor looking back? Has he used dead hard earlier in the match? If so don't go for massive greedy M1 lunges, position yourself better, use mindbreaker etc. Dead hard is fine where it is until killer hit detection is 99% perfect, then maybe the dash can go.

And for those who complain about DH for distance, that's how bloodlust feels.

  • Myers loses all collision for a few moments when stalking. You could've been blocking it perfectly but doesn't matter.

A great skillcheck while self caring only saves you 0.32 seconds (if the killer doesn't have anything to inflict mangled), 4 great skill checks will therefore only save 1.28 seconds, and despite what you may believe, 30.72 seconds, is nowhere near the same amount of time as 16 seconds.

I always thought it was 10% but I guess it's 5%, still not bad of a perk if you can hit them. And its not 0.32 seconds it's 0.8 seconds since the bonus progress isn't halved.

  • You can heal yourself just as fast as a teammate can if you can hit great skill checks. Self care alone, you need to hit 3 or 4 greats to heal regular speed. With botany knowledge only 1 or 2.

Self care is decent alone, and incredibly strong with botany knowledge. Not only are you saving time when you heal a teammate, you can heal yourself without running around the map like a headless chicken trying to pull someone off a gen to heal you and give the killer twice as much pressure if they find you.

  • I'm a Billy main that relaxes with playing solo survivor(More survivor after his nerf). As killer I'm an amazing sport, never tunneling or camping just going for curves and fun, never had a game where I came out upset at anything but collisions and hitboxes. Never going into a game expecting to win or lose. Will throw the game for fun or if survivors want to mess around. I play to the other teams skill level too, I'm not going to demolish players who are clearly learning. While this leaves me at a low rank, I go up against skilled players anyways so I don't care lol.

As survivor I'm nowhere near as good a sport, I find myself getting angry at killers who don't play like myself. I'm not "toxic" in-game but I'm not afraid to speak my mind and call things as they are post game. I think this comes from Killer being the one to set the "pace and difficulty" of the match, as I've never fought with survivors when playing killer except if they let teammates die. However, if the killer is having fun or playing to show skill I'll be right there with them.

I try to prestige/max out my favorite characters but don't have time for them all. I think its a silly mechanic but it can be fun at times to essentially "restart" your character and relearn how to play the game without the best perks. Definitely reinforces the core mechanics of the game.

I get tilted much more as survivor than killer. When playing killer its mainly hitboxes/collision etc. never really what survivors do. As survivor its mainly up to how the killer plays and their latency. Getting hit through windows and pallets that I clearly made is the most infuriating thing in the game for me other than 1st hook deaths.

I try not to buy cosmetics with real money, the last real money skin I got was Billys scarecrow outfit for like 2$.

  • I also have been having massive ping issues. I used to run about 20-40 ping, but recently im hard-capped around 100. Wired connection, nobody else using internet etc etc.

I miss P2P, at least you could see how bad of a game you were getting yourself into.

  • The data shows that if killers are going to tunnel you to death, they will do it regardless of how strong of an "anti-tunnel" perk you use with similar success rates.

How much variety after the Billy nerf? 12 killers being used relatively often right now with 23 killers available, aka, roughly 50% of the roster. Before the Billy Nerf? 6 killers being used relatively often with 20 killers available, aka, roughly 25% of the roster. So yes, the variety was upped from 25% to 50%.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2196934#Comment_2196934

2016, the variety was pretty much 100% considering Billy didnt really have pop or ruin available. Trapper and Wraith were pretty equal in strength, with the only difference that Billy didnt have pink addons, and thus was capable of instakilling every single match, where Wraith and Trapper only could do that every 3rd match or so. But Trapper and Wraith still had favor over Billy due to Agitation and Bloodhound. Once people had both those perks on Billy, they only played Billy, at least, for the first 2 months of release.

Then Nurse came out, and the variety dropped to just Billy and Nurse. 50% of the killers used.

Then Myers came out, and at first 3 out of 5 killers were used, untill people realized how powerful Dying Light was and Billy slowly became the main protagonist, 40% of killers used, 60% of the matches being Billy with Ebony/Ivory Mori and Dying Light, the rest being Nurse.

Then Hag came out, who was terrible at release, so Billy and Nurse were still the only ones used, 33% variety.

Then Doc came out next, who, also wasnt that great, annoying, sure, but easily exploited. 2 killers used out of 7 total(28.5% mainly Billy, Nurse second).

Then Huntress came out, finally, the first killer since Billy to truly be able to use the disgusting mechanic that was old Tinkerer. 3 Killers used out of 8 on a regular basis, finally some more variety(37.5%, mainly Billy, Nurse second)

Bubba, 3 out of 9(33.333%, mainly Billy, Nurse second)

Freddy, 3 out of 10(30%, mainly Billy, Nurse second)

Pig, 3 out of 11(27.3%, mainly Billy, Nurse second)

Clown, 3 out of 12(25%, mainly Billy, Nurse second)

Spirit, but Tinkerer has been nerfed, and so people stopped playing huntress, 3 out of 13(23%, mainly Billy, Nurse second)

Legion, 4 out of 14(28.6%, for the first time, people didnt play Nurse as much. mainly Billy, Legion second)

Plague, Legion has been nerfed. 3 out of 15(20%, biggest variety drop since Myers came out, mainly Billy, Nurse second)

Ghostface, 3 out of 16(18.75%%, mainly Billy, Nurse second)

Demogorgon, Freddy has been reworked, 4 out of 17(23.5% mainly Billy, Nurse second)

Oni, Nurse has been reworked and is no longer played outside tournament settings even though she isnt that weak, 4 out of 18(oni filled in Nurse's slot for some time)(22.2%% mainly Billy, Spirit second).

Deathslinger, Doctor was reworked and joined the variety roster, Oni has recieved a slight bug fix that made him slightly harder to play, so ofcourse people dumped him but Caleb took his place, 5 out of 19(26.3%, mainly Billy, Spirit second)

PH, Hag recieved a shadow buff and can now lunge out of traps 7 out of 20(35%, mainly Billy, Spirit second).

Blight, Billy and Bubba got reworked, but Undying has entered the chat thus more killers are being played. 12 out of 21(57% under disgusting mechanics, Spirit first, but not mainly, Freddy second), a lot of survivor sided maps have been reworked too.

Twins, Blight has recieved a minor amount of love, keeping him in the roster after the Undying nerf, but just barely, more players started picking up Oni, Demo, Pig, Plague and Clown. Especially since they were able to freely test out these killers instead of Billy thanks to Undying(its the only good that Undying has done, give people time to learn more killers once their favorite one was gutted), more maps have been reworked, 14 out of 22(63.6%, Freddy first, Spirit second(yeah, idk what changed, maybe more people realized Spirit is boring to play as AND against)).

Trickster, Clown and Wraith have been reworked, Trapper and Blight have had some QoL, even more maps have been reworked, 15 out of 23(60.8%, highest variety since release. Freddy first, Spirit second)

Trickster-now, Freddy has been nerfed, but plays pretty much the same, even so, people have left him out of the variety roster, Huntress and Demo recieved an addon and/or basekit rework, Hag and PH, for some reason, have disappeared off the variety roster, for now at least. Twins was made less easy to play, but sadly also a lot less fun to play as. 12 out of 23(52.2% variety, Bubba, Huntress and Demo being on roughly equal footing here).

So yes, the Billy nerf forced players to play more killers. The variety has gone up. More issues with killers have been found and since then addressed.

I mean, do you really think Wraith would have recieved a buff if Billy remained the same? Barely anyone played Wraith back then. More variety=better balancing. More issues are found with weaker killers and since there is more data available, there is an easier conclusion to be drawn of what needs to change. I dont mind waiting for Billy to be addressed untill other things have been addressed first. 2020-2022 is probably going to be the era with little to no Billy, after 4 years of being essentially Dead by Billy. Yes, it's a shame he has been gutted this hard, but the overall benefit his nerf has given to other killers? Totally worth it.

Maybe if the devs made well balanced skill-based characters instead of trash killers that weren't worth paying for, they wouldn't have to ruin their original content to force players into buying new content?

You're a lunatic if you think ruining 1 character to get people who've played them since the beginning to change characters is a good idea.

  • Any time I play against a Billy I won't even try to do gens and i'll spend all game seeing how well he can curve. If he's good and I die and get hooked I come back for round 2 and round 3 immediately. If they're chasing someone else and get a nice saw/curve I t-bag the guy who got downed. Always fun against Billy even if they juice me. And if they're newish to him and miss, they get practice without getting fully genrushed.

His punishment is doing it in the first place. He won't get the hit and if he does it. He doesn't build blood lust, it resets to zero. And it takes 4.5 seconds cloaking and uncloaking each time. If you uncloak and cloak multiple times you move slower than the survivor, speed boost included

Billy would give survivors 5.5 seconds of free time when spamming his power. He moved at 100% ms when doing so, was stunned if you missed, and you could dodge his power. I don't see why this means bad wraiths should get to spam their power for free hits when their drawbacks aren't anywhere as bad. And you can use charge time addons on wraith so 4.5 seconds is basekit.

You gain distance back while cloaked and recover any lost time during the lunge that is guaranteed to hit if you know how to use it. Good wraiths won't be effected by adding a cooldown.

  • @twocansofbean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2197458#Comment_2197458

Any wraith that does spam it is a a bad wraith. There are near zero reasons to do it

Exactly, which is why there should be a system in place to punish those who do. That exact argument was what got billy his cooldown.

  • Wraith can spam his power at loops. Wraith has charge time addons. He is just old Billy with half damage but guaranteed hits/pallet drops. He needs a huge nerf if Billy sets the standard for what a killers power should be.

Remove his charge time addons, remove his braindead auto-aimed lunge, remove the ability to spam his power and add a cooldown. I thought power spamming and charge time addons were "oppressive and unfair"? I thought all killers needed a resource management minigame? I thought killers should have to m1 on it's own from time to time?

  • Dead hard should be nerfed as soon as they remove auto aim from M1 killers. It's only seen as oppressive because killers rely on blindly lunging and spinning their mouse around for a free hit with no aiming at all.

Survivors have 3 ways to protect themselves...Pallets, windows, and movement. Devs have already made it easy enough for auto-aim M1 killers by nerfing movement jukes... dead hard in it's current state is almost necessary as there is no other way to protect yourself in the countless dead zones added to make m1 killers that much easier.

  • Spirit just needs to scream like Billy when starting her power.

  • The best way to play Billy is only M1 if they are vaulting a window, your chainsaw baits out dead hard most of the time so even against injured people it's a good idea. He is the hardest killer to play in the game, so you will lose a lot of games before you start to see improvements if you try to play him correctly.

It's better to get a curve than a pip, because once you hit higher ranks curving nearly perfectly is necessary to have a chance at winning with him, and you don't want to be a M1lly in high ranks. He is a lot of muscle memory so that's another reason to focus on getting curves over wins when first learning him.

When people say he is top tier, they mean if you play him perfectly, can curve every object 99% of the time, know how to mind game perfectly with him, and are lucky enough to get survivors who don't pre-throw every single pallet they get to. His usefulness is directly linked to your skill with his saw. However, he is still one of the best anti-loop killers in the game and will definitely be worth the time invested even if he has bugs. His bugs will be fixed so if you can play him now, he will get even better one day.

If you want to watch someone who mains billy right now, in his broken state, look at sofareks or demonicfreak.

  • Its not toxic but it is a terrible idea, tunneling someone out of the game when a key exists only makes it easier for them to escape. By the time you get a kill enough gens should have popped to spawn hatch unless they aren't playing smart. Then you have to guard the dropped key or focus on the last gen, lose lose unless they throw.

Personally, I've had better success against keys when everyone is 2 hooked/on hook and you can snowball the deaths before they can find hatch.

  • "Who thought it would be a good idea to nerf Billy?"

  • You're 100% right.

Billy doesn't deserve 4 mechanics punishing him for using his saw. Cooldown, Bump State, Overheat and Hitboxes/Aim Dressing/Shape of Loops. They could have just adjusted the pre-existing punishments, but chose to make them worse and also add a new punishment for using his power.

His power was already the highest skillcap in the game, when used around loops. If misused the survivors had PLENTY of time to go to another loop or pallet/window, and survivors had PLENTY of time to dodge and reposition while billy was moving at 4.0ms. People thought too highly of old Billy because of insta-saw.

You will miss saws with new Billy because his power lacks any aim dressing unlike old Billy, Oni, Blight etc. You will never be able to saw a survivor vaulting away from you, it must be a vault towards you and even then good luck. Almost everything about Billy is bugged except his M1...

  • A lot of people will confuse what you are saying with actually throwing the hatchet or using the saw. Huntress and Billy share the same ability to hold their power at loops... or used to.

Huntress doesn't drop a hatchet and lose it if she holds it for too long, she can hold one the entire game if she wants. Billy will lose his power for 15 seconds if he holds his saw for too long.

  • It would be weird of them to absolutely demolish Billy because of 1 or 2 charge time addons, just to add a reduced charge time mechanic to his base kit.

Devs have stated they will not remove overheat... maybe they forgot he already has a cooldown for hit and missed saws, a drawback for holding his power(100% move speed), and a drawback for misusing his power(Bump state).

If these 3 mechanics must remain alongside overheat, the way to balance Billy would be make him 115% speed while holding chainsaw, or overheat should only gain heat when starting a chainsaw sprint, not revving unless near a hooked survivor.

If they were to remove overheat, all they have to do is increase the cooldown on hit or missed saws, alongside bump state. But since they have cornered themselves into keeping overheat, we now have to consider 50 different ways to make an unnecessary and unneeded mechanic viable while weaving it into the balance of all his other drawbacks and punishments in a fair manner.

  • Self Care is a very strong perk when used correctly. It is quicker to self care than pull a teammate off a gen to heal you, unless you or a teammate are in direct danger. Self caring saves a second or two when healing and having 1 other survivor on a gen, compared to having that survivor heal you and you both work on the gen with reduced action speed.

And that is a second time save if you don't hit a single skill check, or use heal speed increases. Every skillcheck is something like 1.5 seconds of time save. If you can hit great skill checks every time, self-care can honestly be overpowered in certain situations. It also gives you survival points which are the rarest type.

  • Since all killers are being pushed into the same corner, they should "Billy" the spirit.

*She should have a map-wide scream when using her power, and have a 60m radius sound while in phase. Directional sound if within 32 meters of her phasing.

*She can spam her power at loops currently, so after every phase she should lose all charges on her power.

    * Nerf all addons.

*Remove auto aim for swings out of her power. A good spirit will know exactly where they are.

  • Yea there is, you loop for 5 gens and have team open exit gates. Or you loop long enough they give up chase to find someone easier.

Promoting more immersive gameplay is an awful idea. Tunneling isn't even the problem, going down directly after being unhooked without a chase is. I'm sure killers would be less inclined to tunnel/camp if they didn't have to play hide and seek across the map for survivors with ways to end and escape chase almost guaranteed.

  • Someone must have necromanced it HAHA. Must have commented thinking it was recent when they used the search bar.

  • I think that post was from 2019 if you read what I did LOL.

I doubt Billy will see anything except buffs/bugfixes in the future with the communities sentiment on him.

I used to play Billy. I got some sick crossmaps and even more violently ill mindgame saws, but then I bought Pig and it was over. Everything else was over (until I bought Demo but I can't change my username so).

Again, it punishes you for learning your power, not necessarily capping it. Same case as the aforementioned nurse syndrome; you can still be really good with them, it's just harder to learn how to. I checked the FoV thing (which was probably the case since they modified killer PoV to better reflect flashlights, in which case it isn't a bug but a feature), and hitboxes are just really wonky for every killer. If you don't like getting robbed of hits because of hitbox issues, play Huntress. Otherwise, it's just part of the learning process.

"It's not a personal attack," + "I can't really take anything you say seriously. It seems you just want to sound like you know what's best for him"

Moving aside the glaring contradiction, it still stands that we are talking about overheat and add-ons alone, and their impact on Billy's playability (as detailed in the last 200 pages of comments).

I'm not going to split hairs on what an Attack is.

The thing with nurse is, she get's both blinks back within 5 seconds. Billy will turn into an m1 killer for 30 seconds, 15 if you force yourself to overheat. Sure in a perfect world where all survivors are split up, not helping eachother, and you down and hook immediately after etc you won't notice overheat. As soon as you go against teams that know what they are doing or even try and bully you, you will notice overheat.

Nurse doesn't have to learn mindgames, looping etc. She doesn't have to deal with windows and pallets like Billy, but she gets a quicker "overheat" than him? Why does Billy roar at the start of a curve giving the survivor a notification on when to sidestep? Why does spirit not have this?

Billy is a conglomeration of nerfs that were never deserved because people don't understand how to play as or against him. Billy is the only killer with 2 full scale cooldowns. His chainsaw now has a cooldown and an overheat. It would be like if blight lost all his stacks after cancelling his power after 1 bump. It would be like if nurse lost all blinks after she blinked only once and had to wait 15 seconds to get them back.

Edit: Not even mentioning both Nurse and Blight have auto aim for their power.

Yeah, let's go straight for personal attacks and miss the point entirely.

What we are talking about is some guy's ludicrous claims that overheat and add-ons, specifically his rework, "killed" Billy. That is false and that conversation has devolved into some ben Shapiro-esque rant about common sense and I'm-too-good-for-logic. That whole mess about good billies quitting is filled with the same mistakes, assuming that 2 streamers are indicative of the entire community.

You don't consider bugs in how good a killer is. Twins were buggy as hell but they're still considered powerful, because they eventually get fixed. Blight's PoV, that time you could hear Spirit phasing inside of the terror radius, etc. all go the same.

And beyond all of this, which is pure postulation and guesswork based on the assumption that everything goes out as you've detailed (which rarely happens). 69.4% killers per game is still on the higher side of kill rates, and even if he isn't as strong as before, which happened to all other killers regardless of nerfs and buffs, he didn't get "killed" by overheat. Less people play him, meaning he's probably going down the Nurse route, though.

It's not a personal attack man, if you don't play Billy you won't understand him is all.

These 2 nerfs did kill Billy. They didn't make him unplayable but they made him uncompetitive and punish you for learning to use his power outside of mobility more than any other killer.

You don't consider bugs in how good a killer is? These bugs have been in the game for much over a year, almost 2 at this point. They absolutely effect natural gameplay, and if they were fixed the overheat and addon gutting wouldn't mean much. The hitboxes/animation for getting a hit is completely different now. You can no longer snap to survivors you must run directly into them at a 90* angle or risk sliding off the survivors hitbox.

If you haven't mained Billy pre patch 3.7 I can't really take anything you say seriously. It seems you just want to sound like you know what's best for him. There is a lot different about him, half are bugs, the rest are poor design changes by a dev team that doesn't even play this character.

Edit: Syndicate isnt 1 person, it was a group of the best billies in the world. They ALL quit.

Yes, you do need statistics to see. There are too many factors that determine a killer's strength, both inside and outside fo the game (which is a nice way of saying people suck at playing DBD), to just make meaningless surmise based on your own limited information. You are not Einstein. You are not Newton. You are not Voltaire. Even those great thinkers were unable to create perfect models and predictions, and neither can you.

By the way, yelling doesn't help you get across your point (Unless you're point is looking belligerent).

First off, if you think overheat/addons are Billys only issues now you don't play him at all, or if you do you are a backrevving M1lly. You seem to have this idea there's all these GOOD billies out there who know how to work around the overheat mechanic... Completely dissociated from reality so you can prove some fake point. All the good billys QUIT once again, and those that didn't play him for nostalgia or because they invested thousands of hours into him. Look at Syndicate, look at Ayrun, look at anybody who mained Billy pre patch 3.7 and patch 4.1. Also, a good billy against a GOOD survivor team will overheat constantly. Backrevving 4 people is easy, try and curve 4 rank 1 loopers 3 times in a row, while breaking pallets and protecting gens. Billy already had a cooldown mechanic, he doesn't need 2. All BHVR had to do was increase his chainsaws original cooldown and add "Does not stack" to his addons.

Just because you can farm console players and purple ranks doesn't mean Billy is in a good place. It means he can punish some mistakes if you play perfectly, and get lucky while the survivors play awful and don't sidestep. Theres a reason Billy is no longer seen in tournaments, and when he is, it is to show off the absolute sheer amount of skill required to even compete at that level.

Second, FOV and Animation are BUGS that are nearly game breaking, but once again you never have hit a 180* curve so you wouldn't know how they inhibit his gameplay. The stats don't show his new hitbox, the stats don't show his FOV, the stats don't show his animations. The stats show its possible for an insta-down killer to get 2, sometimes 3 kills.

Edit: And im sorry to be harsh, but thats the reality of billy. If you disagree we can KYF and 1v1, and ill show you the exact issues with him.

It’s to have a cooldown for his power like any other killer. Every killer besides wraith has some sort of cooldown or limit on their power. Only made sense for hillbilly to get one too.

He still has some okay add ons anyway. Engravings, lopro chains and mothers helpers are all pretty good

Billy already had a cooldown, and still does along with an overheat mechanic. There were addons made specifically to reduce that cooldown, which do not exist in lieu of overheat cooldowns now.
