Tunnel vision is bad... mmmmkay?
frankly though from the kiler perspective this comes down to the sum cost falacy. it's the same thing that drives gamblers, bad investments, bad relationships, etc.... they have already spent x amount of their resources (time) chasing you that they felt it would be a waste to give up. against a good looper it's a great way to lose a game and the single most effective mind game in DBD
-
honestly I would say it's because it gets them viewers. People love watching hair pulling, name calling, drama laiden fights on reality TV and content creators know that and take advantage of that. they are there to promote themselves, not fair play or wholesome behavior. I personally just don't watch that kind of creator and don't let my son watch them either.
-
I mean... there is a gap. Oni is Spirit's Grandfather, so her father could be lurking somewhere in the fog

There was an interesting study done some years ago that said that the absolute most stressful job is working in a customer service call center. The reason for that is because you are an anonymous, faceless voice that happens to be the unfortunate soul who was there when people needed to confront their adversary and they treat you as something less than human. and these queue up one after another completely unrelated to each other and never ending. Sounding familiar?
In these circumstances we forget each other's humanity. we don't see friendly competition but rather a hostile unknown who is actively trying to deny us the reward we seek. It takes a conscious effort to set that aside and remember that the person/people in the opposing role are just as human as ourselves. Obviously we hope that everyone spends the effort to remember that and gives a "gg", but the reality is that in an online multiplayer game this sort of behavior will probably continue indefinitely.
I just take comfort in the fact that the majority of my matches are with people that just play the game and either give a gg in the end or otherwise don't message at all. for the trolls that spew toxic bile...? I silently hope they get a job in a call center somewhere 😁
-
I feel like undying should at least give the survivors a notification that "surprise! You're on totem cam!" All other hexes give notification of their active effects, so why not undying?

yup, it's like nba 2k pretty much.
But maybe F13 can wrap up their lawsuit...
Also if dbd holds all the licensing does that mean nobody else can make a horror game based on the licenses they hold?
(Halloween, Texas Chainsaw, Nightmare On Elm Street, etc.)
Behavior doesn't own the license for any of the franchises represented in the game, they have been given permisssion by the license holder to conditionally represent their IP in the game. those license holders are perfectly free to allow competing companies to use their IP as well. It is the reason that BHVR doesn't release cosmetics for most of the franchise characters very often if ever (Bill, Quinton, Freddy, Lori, etc...)

I don't think it would be abusable.
It would also promote healing again and slow gen rush as you would lose invisibility if you touch a genny.
oh I know, I was just being silly. On a serious note I think the concern @BioX raised about being a free escape if the doors are open is valid, as well as it making BT useless. there are also those situations where if 2 people are hooked then a third unhooks both the 2 phasing survivors can split to opposite ends of the map and work on gens, pretty much guaranteeing that one of them will finish. I'm sure there may be other exploits/concerns that I haven't thought of.
I know you are going for a guaranteed safe unhook to eliminate camping/tunnelling, but personally I would like to see a perk "Stolen Time" where if you are unhooked within 16 meters of the killer then for 30 seconds any hit that would put you into the dying state injures the unhooker instead. so if they unsafe unhook with BT we're good, if no BT then they suffer for it
-
honestly some of the ideas in the video I question, but mostly it's all good. The few things I would change:
- Moris shouldn't be 4 distinct hooks. Instead base it on generators repaired. 1 gen = 1 mori. with Green being limited to 1 mori and yellow staying how it is. That makes Mori's more threatening as the match progresses and eliminates the 5 gen first hook mori
- SWF map offering. I play in a SWF and we only ever play map offerings to break up monotony like this week's obsession with MacMillan in the RNG. Instead I would give some kind of visual indicator in the lobby instead (I was thinking it would be funny to see the SWF members holding hands)
- Survivor Item lock. Just no. As it is the killer knows who each survivor is, what item (in general) they are bringing, and can guess at their rank and playstyle based on cosmetic. I think there should be some way for survivors to surprise the killer. I don't do the last minute switch but I like knowing there can be some secret kept other than perks
and as to the "just because a streamer says it" it really doesn't matter if they are a streamer or a guy on the street. the main difference is how many people see the opinions, not the value. If OP thinks it has merit and others agree then it's worth considering. Plus Otz enlisted the help of his viewers in coming up with this too, so it's more of a community effort than just his anyway.
-
this. It would be great if we could at least earn BP as a team. for example how about 1200bp for each survivor that escapes? or 500bp for each completed gen while in the trial regardless of if you were on it? survivors are supposed play as a team but other than altruism scoring there is very little incentive BP wise for doing so. I would happily go on a 5 gen chase if a. I were that skillful and b. I knew I would still get BP from the completed gens.
to summarize, even without directly touching an objective you still contribute. did bones? spared your teammates from NOED. Got chased? Kept the killer occupied so team can focus on gens. BP/emblems should both reflect direct and indirect contributions
-
But.... how could survivors abuse this to frustrate the killers?
I think maybe instead the survivor should steal the killers weapon and run away at 118%, and the killer has to catch them to get their weapon back before they can injure/down anyone
-
can I just say that I really hate playing against killers? Why can't I just fix these generators in peace and leave with the satisfaction of a job well done. it's not fair that someone is going to walk up and stab me in the face when all I'm trying to do is help the entity turn it's lights back on.
*Starbucks is the proud sponsor of this sarcasm
-
I kinda think "Love Shack" by the B-52s for Huntress, but that might be influenced by Samination
-
some handy definitions here:
genrushing: (adv.) Killer failed to apply pressure
Sweaty Killer: (adv.) survivor overestimated their own skill
gg: (adj.) good sportsmanship
ggez: (adj.) I'm about to hit puberty and feel very uncomfortable in my body
-
so... wait a minute... after being completely impaled on a rusty meat hook a casual backrub from a friend or a quick self administered belly rub makes it all better but not having ASMR when exhausted is a bridge to far??
-
as one who is frequently the light at the end of someone's tunnel.... it's fine. I certainly wouldn't call tunnelling in and of itself a skill, but it IS often times the right play. I play on a SWF with 3 immersive AF friends and I'm the impatient idiot that never lets go of the run button. So if i've been hooked and the killer takes off to patrol gens and I'm the next person they see I certainly don't expect them to ignore me and keep stomping bushes trying to flush out my friends.
TLDR; tunneling isn't a skill, it's just more often the right play and having the sense of when to tunnel and when not to IS a skill and I respect that
-
I love the movie and love the idea of bringing it into the fog. I feel like some of these perks are a bit unbalanced though, like Anatomy and Things you see would be very abusable on the survivor side, also the idea of survivors gaining tokens that hinder them is too complicated. I'm not sure what the mechanics/perks should be though
-
Moris - activate based on gens being complete (Ebony = 1 mori per gen complete) to stop the 5 gen first hook moris
Iri Head+Infantry belt huntress - only the last hatchet has instant down
Nurse - Make her 105% base so that a new nurse player doesn't feel like such a bully simulator, but blink add ons reduce base movement
GF - make revealing consistent OR get rid of the direction indicator he gets when being revealed.
Camping - Increase survivor gen repair speed when within 12 meters of hook after 5 seconds unless in chase and provide some status notification to inform the killer
Clown - get rid of the wavy bright screen effect in gas and just give us a darkened screen like killer exhaustion effect. worst part of clown is the IRL headaches the gas effect causes.
-
scorpionz. as a pig main he is usually immersed :)
Honestly though, I doubt you will find a popular streamer using that style, because immersed is a very boring playstyle to watch
-
from Tofu's twitter:
·
SWF isn't OP, Gen rush is a product of your own bad map pressure, expecting to be able to consistently 4k teams of extremely good survivors is unrealistic and doesn't even sound like good balance.
Stop making excuses and focus on how you can improve. Don't listen to the hivemind
https://twitter.com/ohtofuofficial/status/1256488636561993729?lang=en
-
gen rush = ignoring healing and unhooking entirely to focus on gens. it is 4 BNP on a comodius toolbox with wirespools and everyone immediately splitting up around the map. It's 3 gens popping in 60 seconds or less.
Gen rush is not 135 seconds while the killer is laser focused on a single survivor before the first gen pops.
Tofu has explained this in other videos and it has been explained on the forums as well. As killer you lose track of time so things seem much shorter than they are, so by all means go back and watch footage if you suspect gen rushing and see what the real timing is.
And remember, you may feel salty that 2 survivors escaped with a key, but these are not NPC bad guys for you to slaughter, these are real people too. Look at it as you stomped 2 players and the other 2 were so scared they had to escape on a technicality. Congrats on your victory!
-
they removed the healing penalty from thana so that they could buff the gen slowdown aspect of the perk. When they said it was lose lose they meant that they wanted to buff it but felt they couldn't if it made it impossible to heal. the idea of thana was to make survivors prioritize healing over gens, therefore delaying the game, but if they made it tough to heal then survivors would just power through it. I think you'll find that thana and sloppy will still go great together, possibly more so since survivors will absolutely heal up rather than eat the buffed slowdown on gens

You didn't really answer my question. Your reasoning for the need for them to be the same is that BBQ is strong.
IMO neither of them should provide BP benefits while simultaneously reducing the grind by removing tiers or lowering the BP cost of things.
As it stands, there's only 3 available perk slots for everyone because there's no reason to not run these perks if you don't have all the perks unlocked on whatever characters you want (which takes a LONNNGGG time). The buff just exacerbates this lack of choice.
your question being "why do they have to be the same?" the answer is simply that survivors have to sacrifice a perk slot to dedicate solely to BP while killers get a perk slot with a strong ability that also gives BP. In the interest of balance WGLF should get an ability that is as useful as the BBQ aura read. The ability they are offering is far to situational (killer has to slug) to be of consistent use
-
@lucid4444 said:
Why does it have to be the same? Because they share one thing in common?
Because either BP or Aura reading would make BBQ a top pick for most killer builds. Having the 2 combined means that you get a strong ability + a huge reward. Making WGLF a choice between getting BP or putting a useful perk on is the complaint and makes the BP disparity between survivor and killer even bigger. The hope was for a moderately strong effect in addition to BP in the interest of balance. healing from dying buff is as useful as Ash's Buckle Up perk, but I suppose we will have to wait and see what the actual effect is
-
soul guard is another pick yourself up perk as long as there is an active hex.
I've thought no mither should at least start the trial healthy, so I agree there, but hiding the broken status from the killer would not go over well. otherwise making it so that you are only broken once you pick yourself up would be fine. I think UB is fine where it is, but I agree using any combo of pick yourself up and DS is pretty broken.
I'm actually a little surprised that soul guard hasn't become a bit more Meta now that undying is out

Yeah, but I also remember a time when I ended up stuck in every other pallet that got slammed on muh head. Did survivors give me free hits, or just finish gens and leave? No, they kept me in game for 20 minutes while they farmed points and blinded me over and over.
This is just the worst, most addictive game ever. LMAO
I get how that would be frustrating. If I'm being honest though in a situation like that there really isn't much a survivor could do to assist other than perhaps if they had Any Means Necessary and could pick the pallet back up. Their only options would be to slam out gens and leave with a depip and less than 10k BP or do what they did to get as much BP and emblems as they could. there are 2 whole emblems and scoring categories blocked if the killer doesn't or can't play. I hope I don't come across that situation, because I have definately done that sort of thing with AFK killers
-
I would say this is good, but would need to stop the timer in the broken state. otherwise plague would be OP and no mither would be even worse
-
I've said it before and will say it again, tweak the RNG for SWF instead. fewer pallets, chests, gens a bit closer, etc...
gives the same game experience but makes the match harder to survive unless you have comms

Your ideal nerf is how eboni moris currently act just so you knoe.
I think what they mean is that all 4 survivors have to have been hooked once before Mori activates, not that A survivor has to have been hooked once before that particular survivor can be mori'd
-
that video made me think (in a russian accent) "In Soviet Russia, survivors tunnel you" 🤣
-
I think Mori's should function more like keys do.
for keys to be at all useful there must be number of survivors +1 gens done. meaning that until survivors start dropping off all gens have to be complete before the key can be used
Ebony Mori's should be for each gen complete gain the ability to kill 1 survivor. Green Mori should be once 1 gen is done gain the ability to kill 1 survivor only. Yellow stays the same
-
if you and your buddy were on a gen together then 30 seconds is plenty of time to get that gen to 70%, at which point tinkerer would kick in and make him undetectable. based on his TR kicking in after the hook I'm guessing that you got bamboozled by tinkerer.
Ever since this perk was buffed it's become more and more prominent in killer builds, especially when paired with undying and ruin
-
my 2 cents is I play fair because it is way too stressful to do otherwise. I have a job and responsibilities enough as it is and when I play a game I want it to be fun and chill for me. what do I care if some person i have never and will never meet uses the crouch button too much or makes use of the things available in game? if they want to whine about how they lost or tell me they think I suck because of a 5 minute interaction whatever. I don't have to read it and I certainly don't have to react to it
TLDR; It's a GAME and it's YOUR time to do whatever you want. Don't waste it just because someone you've never met cries
-
I don't recall the exact details of the challenge, but it's something crazy like 4 times 4 survivors 5 meters. You don't have to fully cloak or unloak, you just ring the hell out of it (tap release tap release) while in chase the whole match
-
at lower levels it is a good killer strategy because newer survivors don't know to just sit on gens in that situation. As they rank up they will find that it easily becomes a loss as survivors get better at extending chase and staying on generators.
To sum up, the tunnel and camp strategy eventually goes away as you rank up, so it is punished in that they will either have to change tactics or get a 1k most matches after a point

It may be surprising, but I'm a killer main and didn't exploit the hill bug. I play survivor for rituals and archives, so I get the struggle, completely.
But I'm a rarity I'm guessing? When I played survivor I avoided any hill after the first time I got stuck, so I wouldn't know first-hand.
It is refreshing to see so many on here that didnt exploit that bug, i just wish you were in my games :)
I led a trapper on a chase deliberately to where a meg was trapped and what did he do? Slugged me, downed and hooked her, then hooked me. Alright downing me is fair play, I was free to make my choices but that was just dirty. I felt like I sandbags her

As Killer I found 5 or 6 Survivors stuck in the hill. I pulled every single one out and left them slugged. As Survivor I also witnessed 2 other Killers do the same.
I have yet to see a single Survivor let me, or anyone playing Killer, hook them when the hook bug happens and causes them to escape.
It Is rare on both sides, and im glad that you are one of the ones who recognize a bug and help out. I am not saying it never happens for either side, but it is rare. I had 2 matches last night where I stopped struggling to let the killer hook me (first one he dropped and picked up a second after arriving at the hook, so probaby didn't notice and the second was a wraith on the game with me on death hook). A friend of mine wiggled off in another match because of the bug but stayed at the hook so the killer could try again.
In truth a lot of people get fixated on playing their side and don't really understand the experience from the other.
I didn't mean to come across as us vs them or anything, was just pointing out that there are those that do play with good sportsmanship and an appeal to them should be positive. The kind of people that knowingly exploit a bug don't care, and the kind that don't will not appreciate an accusatory tone and it may have the opposite effect

What you also have in mind that not everyone is aware that certain bugs exists. I've played this game for two years, have around 2k hours in the game and I wasn't even aware that Ash was bugged before I saw this post, and I'm a killer main (not many people play Ash).

I allow survivors to wiggle off when I see them affected by the hill bug (it's still in the game), although if it's a high pressure game I'm only able to afford to drop them to a different location so that their team mates can pick them up (least they're no longer stuck).
Although I've had the same survivors who I've helped get unstuck, t bag me later in the game.
Yeah, I've let a whole team reset after this since I had 2 on the hook when finding one stuck. Still got t-bagged at loops. That 4k felt SWEET!
-
sorry to see that survivor toxicity has gotten to you. I second what LordRegal said. Better to avoid the gates during EGC and ignore the vault spamming unless you are a stealthy boi and NOED is up.
Unfortunately most players are just having fun and celebrating their win, not really meaning to cause harm and so aren't aware of how they may be hurting others. For what its worth the only time I hang around the exit gate is to give the killer time to find and close hatch before I leave. Once I see the icon disappear I'm out

Ok man, I get it, you are posting this more to vent than to actually appeal to the community. I was paraphrasing. Perhaps I should have said "don't play him or I will post on the forums and report you on the platform"?
Vent away good sir. Either way I won't be playing Ash out of respect for the game and the community.
I just wanted to advise your approach almost had the opposite effect, but I appreciate you making us aware of this bug

You can do whatever you want just know knowingly using exploit is bannable on any platform just a fact.
In this case no. Nobody is going to get banned for playing a DLC character just because his sound is bugged. Just like nobody got banned for hooking survivors who were stuck in the hill and nobody is getting banned for not standing still an extra 3 seconds when DS bugs out.
As I said, you have to rely on the good sportsmanship of the community not to take advantage. Some (myself included) didn't even know this bug existed. Coming at us with "don't do this you pieces of [BAD WORD]" will just turn away the ones that would otherwise play fair
-
You would be better off putting a PSA on here about Ash being bugged so that the good sportsmen can be aware and steer clear of him than telling the community not to use him. I try to be unbiased but my knee jerk reaction was to point out the fact that killers took advantage of the hill bug (I never saw a single killer let someone wiggle off out of the hill or just pick up and drop), and all of the BS hits caused by latency (I've even see tru3 admit something shouldn't have hit but he still hooked them)
I dont plan to exploit any Ash bug, and will stop wiggling if I can tell the killer is suffering the action bug, but its tempting when someone comes on the forum and tries to dictate how I should play
-
As someone who plays with friends frequently I have to say sometimes it is really helpful (killer is chasing me, its wraith. Im on the shack gen and you are leading the killer to me. Etc...) but most of the time its more like my friends talking about their work day and making it so I can't hear the TR until the killer is right on top of me.
So for serious or more than casual gamers yes, it is a lot of info being shared. How useful that info is depends on the team. If I have no map sense then unless I see your aura I may as well have no positional info at all. Killers against my SWF usually 3k or 4k.
Of course we would probably do better if we didn't really care about each other's day at work or how cute this cosmetic is on kate
-
to the tune of "That's Amore":
When their offering doesn't flip

I've noticed that the lore stays on whichever tome you first open the lore on, but after a restart I can go to the compendium and select another tome and see the lore for it. After that though I am stuck on that lore until another restart

Then again, with Hex Undying my Ruin is staying up all game, so I guess I'll just regress your gen back into oblivion.
We actually got some pretty legit perks in this chapter. I haven't even played Felix yet, but I wanna try out his anti-Thana perk (whatever it's called).
I gotta say other than visionary and blood favor all of these perks are pretty good. really changes up the gameplay
-

-
I'm a survivor main and.... no. This perk is already insanely good and doesn't need a buff. it already gives you back half of your charges (including any that add ons provide) and is enough to do a full gen with commodius+wirespool+swivelhead
