I'd like to see console stats. I get "PC master race" and all that but we peasants still exist.
the cross play is coming! eventually..... maybe.... let's hope.

I like Legion but I can't agree with 1 , sorry.
yeah, I can understand making a pink add on basekit might be a bit much. I just feel he lacks... something. I was thinking this could work based on the demogorgon ability of breaking a pallet with his power.. also with the Plague having an apple add on basekit on the next update, it shows devs are more open to this idea than completely reworking a killer.

Defaced Smiley Pin already applies mangled. So sloppy butcher is redundant when using their power.
My main issue is the screen blur. You're given all this info while FF is up, then it immediately disappears when it's over. Scratch marks, blood, the survivor....all gone.
Totally agree, the screen blur sucks. And you make a good point on the pin add on... but you still have to run an add on.
-
But that would also make SWF stronger. I mean, I get free kindred, so I can use something instead... so now I'm playing with 5 perks AND still in SWF. Or would this only be basekit if you are solo?
-
I feel what creates a lot of toxicity in this game is the fact that both sides feel they are not being treated in a fair manner.
I feel since the ruin nerf killers have been playing a lot more aggressively, slugging, tunneling and using NOED almost every game. And to be honest, I understand! If there's no ruin you need to slow the game somehow. And if you KNOW you wont be able to do anything about gen speed, just throw NOED there and you'll at least get some use out of it.
On the other hand, survivors feel they're not having fun exactly for the reasons I listed. I hate being slugged and camped.. But these are valid strategies. I don't mind being tunneled that much because I think being chased is the most fun aspect of survivor gameplay.. so yeah.. I'd recommend you learn to loop and you'll see killers will start avoiding you. And run decisive strike..
I really hate seeing people arguing everyday about what they are entitled or not on this video game. I love the game, but damn if the community is not a pain in the ass.
-
Dude.... there is NO WAY it takes 10 hours to get 1000 shards, even if you're doing poorly.
-
how the hell are you pressing the playstation button instead of X?? hahaha
But I do think just holding the button should be enough... but I guess then it wouldnt be much of a struggle....
-
You should run kindred... specially if you're playing alone. Whenever I see a killer camping I just rush those gens. I mean, 1 camp could easily turn into 3 or 4 gens done, easy win. Yeah, I know it sucks for whoever is on the hook but the best we can do is not feed the camper more kills and just leave.
-
I think keys should have a longer opening animation and maybe skill checks, just to avoid an easy escape if the killer is chasing you... but still if you're not being chased it's easy enough to pull off, but missing a skill check would warn the killer, giving a chance on countering it.
I don't know.. just an idea...

Its a tech that lets you go though the killer when there valuting a window
ah thanks for clarifying, I didnt know that's what it was called.
-
Sorry, but if you dc 90% of the time you should be punished way more than 5 minutes.. specially since it takes so long to find a game nowadays.. you get into a game just to have one of the players disconnect and ruin it for you.
I like the way it is right now as it escalates the more you dc... I just wish the game had a system to identify when it's the actual game's fault. Like sometimes the game wont load the match.. or you get a weird bug where you can't see your hud... stuff like that.
-
What is it?
-
I'm having fun... I just had to change my expectations about the game.
Whenever I'm playing killer I'm prepared for 2 gens to pop before I get one hook, that's just the way the game is right now (specially when I'm playing pig.. love her, but damn she has no early map pressure). Also, as a killer I'm expecting to get 2 kills on an average.. I still do get 4ks or 3ks, but 2ks are more common right now. And the queue times as killer is incredibly fast on PS4 right now.. which is great.
Now, as a survivor I'm having fun too. The new ruin makes it way easier to do gens, sometimes I don't even notice the killer is running it... but I do feel the game is going a little too fast. It's not just because of ruin, I think nerfing it just made gen speeds more noticeable. Also, the queue times are atrocious on PS4. So sometimes I spend longer in queue than actually playing the game, which can be very frustrating. That's not too bad when you're in a party, but when you are solo queuing... jaysus... it's a pain.
-
I'll just leave this here. How the hell can this still be in the game?
The Wraith was just stun locked in a loop.

It’s not a bad perk, it just doesn’t serve the same purpose as old Ruin and when you remove a plasterfix without addressing the actual issue, people won’t like the changes.
This.
-
yeah, the new ruin doesn't slow down early game anymore, and by the time you get to mid/late game it's already gone, so I don't see the point. Devs say it was a "perk that took no skill to use" but at the same time it was still a high risk high reward perk, because it coul either stay up the whole game or be destroyed immediately. I really don't understand why they had to touch it, when survivors could just do bones.
Also, as was mentioned before, the size of maps is a big issue as well. With low mobility killers sometimes a gen is done before you can even find a survivor, just because 3 of them will spawn together on the other side of the map and you just need to slowly walk up to them with your clown.
I think a solution would be changing generator speed times depending on killer you're versing or map you're playing. But I guess that would be too much work and still kind of subjective...

I have over 2,500 hours in this game, the frame rate is massively improved since I first started, and I've adapted to it long ago, so I'm not too hurt that they refuse to fix it. I mean my first favorite killer was Doctor (no relation) and he was atrocious with bugs and just causing all kinds of frame skips etc. But I have heard some players are more affected than others, so I may just be lucky
maybe! I am more affected when playing killer, there is no doubt about it. Yesterday I was playing on the swamp map and twice the game just kind of "skipped"! I even had to stop for a second and think "where am I?"... hahah
Other times the frames drop so much that I just can't keep track of the survivors.
But it's not bad ALL the time, otherwise the game would be unplayable. I still think it's valid to bring this stuff up, not for being negative, but just so the devs know we have problems, you know...

Wow, if that's true then it seems all those who always downcast us console players concerns because "it's not made for us" can eat crow
Man, if you think controls are the only problems with the console version you are way off... My main problem would be the frame rate and frequent frame drops. Add on top of that all the glitches everybody else already have to deal with and it can get really bad some times.
But I'll give them that.. they were fast on releasing this improvement for console players, so not complaining on that! =)
-
I think it's nice the add on presents a trade off now. I just think survivors shouldn't absorv ALL the blood. this way it gets way too easy to deny the killer his power.
-
The only thing I ask as a console player is that the game runs as well as pc.
I mean... c'mon.. PS4 can run battlefield with a milion players in a match with amazing graphics but struggles to run a 4V1? I understand Behavior doesn't have as much money as EA or other big game developers/publishers... but c'mon guys.. we deserve some love as well! We pay for the DLC like everybody else but we have less options, worse controls, lower frame rate AND constant frame drops.
The console optimization that was promissed never actually happened. So yeah... that kinda sucks.
-
Preach, man!
Yeah.. I totally agree.. he is very hard to play on console.
-
I find it incredibly hard to play as the Oni.
First, Im playing on console, so whenever I charge my strike it's impossible to keep track of the survivor. I need to strike them when I'm right on their neck!! Also, he controls like a damn truck.. I find it really difficult to maneuver him around corners.
Also, if Im not wrong.... he seems to have a larger "frame". I seem to get stuck at stuff on loops far more often than the other killers, what makes me run the loops far less optimal.
It could be just a steep learning curve.. but so far he seems to be easy to loop and hard to control. I'm enjoying him and learning as I play, though.
-
When it was free on PS Plus.
I've always been interested in the game but I didnt have any friends to play with so couldnt be bothered to give it a try. Then it was free on Playstation and I just had to try it. I was immediately hooked, what a great game. Had to buy all the dlc after that hahah, so I guess it was a good strategy giving it away on PS+.
-
It's the same thing with people who says they have real life responsibilities they need to tend to and may not be able to play a full match.
Then don't play.... Not trying to be insensitive here, but if you have responsibilities tend to them first. I know once in a while unexpected things happen (and that's ok.. if you disconnect once in a while Im sure you won't be punished). But c'mon.. don't ruin everybody else's fun because you can't sort your stuff before you jump into a game. GET THAT SOUP OFF THE STOVE BEFORE MATCHMAKING!!!

@Gottlos said:
I mostly agree with OP. It was immediately apparent that Oni was a blend of Billy and legion (ability power up over time)
While it is underwhelming to not see any really new abilities come to the game the real issue to me are the perks. They could make new killer abilities, they aren't really, but each time they pump out 3-6 perks they are lucky to add one that has any real value. Getting buried in perk options is no fun either and it will only get worse.
I agree with others that a new game mode or objective is becoming more and more necessary.
That's actually true, but I think it's not necessarily bad. I think going forward perks are gonna be more and more situational just because it's harder to break the game with them. Whenever a "Mettle of man" comes out the forums become a battlefield and then the devs have to rework stuff, rebalance, etc..
But once in a while you get a cool meta perk like inner strength, which is strong and balenced! so yeah..

While I see where you’re coming from and maybe soon enough the devs will eventually run out of ideas without making it a whole other game, for the time being you have to give them credit for somehow being able to keep making killers with new powers and perks without visually burning out. My biggest fear for this game is it “dying” by the devs making a final chapter and knowing we’ll never get new killers and survivors. To some the devs have already burned out and are just remaking killers, but to me and a lot others, it’s still fresh and nice to see new chapters even if it’s a similar power. Always think of it like this, a certain killer can do what this killer can’t. That’s what separates them.
Legion can vault, other killers can’t
Nurse can go through walls, other killers can’t
Demigorgon can place portals and lunge really far, other killers can’t
Freddy can teleport to gens and place fake pallets, other killers can’t.
If you keep that mindset then really all killers are different :)
That’s fair enough. We do have to give them credit for showing so much dedication to the game. I mean, my original point was exactly that I love the game but am afraid it will go stale. But as u said, not happened yet.
-
@Peanits said:
It is fairly long, but you also gotta' keep in mind what it would be like if four people are using it. It works out to one pallet reset every 30 seconds.
Exactly, guys.. you have to have in mind how it's gonna be if a whole team is using it. You can't balance it imagining you're gonna be the only one running it on pallet replacement duty. I think they made this mistake with the original mettle of man, and you had full squads running it being near impossible to beat.
-
I really think the Legion would have to go through a Freddy kind of rework. Someone posted once about this idea of having the 4 legion guys in a match... but they would be hidden inside lockers that would act kinda like a teleport. I think that would make sense lore wise (having the actual whole LEGION in a match... but maybe the entity only allows one at a time to be in a match). And of course it would have a cooldown kinda like the demogorgon portals.
It would be another teleporting killer in the end but I think it would give the legion a well needed boost and also make sense with the lore.

@Zender said:
@FogNoob i would think they’re doable. #3 would take some work but would be a lot of fun. Allow survivors and killers a few boxes to check so they know what kind of game they are getting. The game already pits survivors against each other somewhat; you need teammates but also sometimes it’s in your best interest to put them between you and the killer.
What do you think of the killer that can modify the maps outside of the match?
I think I deleted my comment by mistake.. weird!
But anyway.. when I said ideas 1 and 2 I actually meant 1 and 3. I love the idea of having a large map and more killers competing among each other as well.
I also like the idea of the mastermind killer! I suggested it earlier but I was basing this idea on the new resident evil spin off that's coming out next year. But I think it would fit the DBD lore so well..
But I really like the idea of pitching survivors against each other. I dont know if you saw it but a few streamers have been doing this "sandbag with friends" kind of games lately where whoever survives gets a point. they are making their own rules of course... but imagine if this idea could be expanded as you said and become a new mode. I really like it.
-
@Zender said:
I think the original post is asking what can BHVR do besides build new killers with slightly different powers?
They would need to expand the game into new areas: new game modes, new objectives for both sides, offerings (or something new) that alters the game greatly.
Examples might include:
1) new game mode: survival - no gens, no exit doors, just a hatch. Maze like setting and other new maps. Survivors have to try to outlast each other, getting more BP as you go. New items help them do this, confusing the killer with decoys and/or selling out their “teammates”.
2) new game mode: invader or veteran - when you successfully escape you are given the option to take your BP or risk it all to be hot dropped into a game in progress with 4+ gens to go. The killer gets a notice and so do the survivors. The invader glows a bit. Now more potential BP for everyone. Repeat as necessary.
3) new game mode: Last Man - very large map with 20 survivors, 30 gens (or none), and 4 killers. Killers can see their BP rank versus the other killers. Every 5 survivors sacrificed the Entity pulls the lowest point killer out. Could play down to either the gens being done or just find the top survivor and top killer.
4) leaderboards! In addition to rank show how many DCs a surv/killer has accumulated in past 48 hours.
5) cosmetics only available based on your devotion level.
6) new killer: game master - standard 115% m1 killer but they have a limited editor outside of games where they can customize the map a bit, placing totems and gens, etc. they always pick the map that is played! That is their power, foreknowledge of the map and its layout.
7) new objectives: parts scavenging for gens and altars for the killers. What these do I don’t know .
I LOVE these ideas.
I think the first one is a little toxic... but that would be the point!! to outlast your opponents and have a laugh doing so. I think that could be really fun.
Of course I think some of these are easier to implement than others but I like these ideas.
When I look to other games competing with DBD (like Last Year the nightmare or even friday the 13th) I wonder what if DBD took one or two pages out from these games. Like a map that has several gates that you have to open, getting more and more nightmarish as you move on.. and maybe slightly different goals as you progress.
But I think your ideas 1 and 3 could be implemented with only the mechanics we have right now. Again.. not saying it would be easy, but maybe doable?...
-
oh man, I can only hope the game grows and implement that much stuff in the future. Im hopeful.
yes, I agree him being a bit like billy is not necessarily a bad thing, Im just thinking about the future and maybe getting too alarmed about it.
also you made good points about fiting the lore (which im totally not against) and the differences about demo and freddy... they managed to make them different enough even using basically the same mechanic.

All those mechanics you mentioned (except for the Doctor's) are just different takes on the same ability. You'll never be happy because there's only a finite amout of ways for them to make killers go faster, find survivors, and down them.
I am happy. And all the things I mentioned were the first instances when a mechanic was added. You could maybe even add the huntress there with the ranged attack (which plague also does, but to apply a debuff). My point is exactly how to keep the game fresh if from now on everything is gonna be the same thing but slightly different.
-
@Tarvesh said:
You're seeing what you want to see at this point.
Every game uses essentially every mechanic you just mentioned in some form or another. You may as well say every killed is a copy of Trapper because they all walk around the map and hit people.
You should say that Hillbilly, Nurse, and Legion are all just Wraith because their power lets him move faster. Or that Bubba, Meyers, Plague, and Ghostface are all just Hillbilly because their powers let them one-shot survivors.
The Oni collects resources that survivors drop to fill up his power gauge. Never been done before.
He can use the resources dropped as a way to track survivors. Never been done before.
He uses the resources collected to empower himself into a temporary speed state (which plenty of killers AND PERKS do) that allows him to one-shot survivors.
Using similar mechanics isn't running out of ideas. There are only so many "unique" mechanics to work with. It's how they're used and applied that make killers different. Never play a video game is you don't want to see these exact same mechancis implimented somehow, because they're in every single video game ever.
I wouldnt compare Meyers, Plague or ghostface to hillbilly because his mechanics are not just about the one shot.. but also speed (both fit ONI, though). So yeah, I think it's pretty fair comparing both of them.
And I agree "There are only so many "unique" mechanics to work with".... until you add more mechanics! We've seen it in the past.. they added the doctor who applies debufs to the survivors, they added the pig, who can put traps and stall the game a bit... then myers who can stalk and expose survivors... even the plague with the cleansing mechanic and the liquid projectile, pretty neat. Now saying collecting the orbs to fill a gauge is a new mechanic.. or that you can use it to track.. I dont know. Feel a little too gimmicky to me..
If th developers really mean when they say they want to grow and support this game for another 10 years I think it's fair we can expect a little bit more from them.
-
yeah.. first impression is he's kind of weak?... I mean, still PTB but he's just a billy that depends on getting a hit on a survivor to get his ability up... that sucks a bit.
also... his add-ons are sooo basic! no creativity at all. Just numbers adjustments and that's it.
The survivors perks looks amazing on the other hand.. the recycling pallets one actually sounds overpowered but let's see.
Amazing design but overwhelming ability for the killer so far.
-
I also DON'T believe it's a scheme from the devs so we dont get our cells back... but I do think it's badly designed. As some people said, sounds like someone who doesn't play the game made these..
I also agree the fix would be just removing the "do it in 1 trial" requirement.
-
wow... some of these are so situational I wouldn't even call it a challenge. Like unhooking 3 (THREE!!!!) survivors AFTER the end game collapse has started is ridiculous. Might as well just find people to farm these.
-
I think it's a limitation from the trophy system. There is a cap for how may trophies you can have for a single game... that's why they had to create a second list.
-
yes, please make it happen!
-
@Mochan said:
What is the latest news on the MoM nerf? What does it look like now?
Some people are actually calling it a buff, because now it counters NOED. But I do think it's in a good place.. now it encourages you to take protection hits and doing safe hook rescues.
On the other hand it also encourages the killer to go after the unhooked survivor just to deny the safe unhook... so there's that.
-
To be honest, it should go both ways. In the case of the killer, if survivors disconnect you should keep your add ons. Good luck trying to get the Tombstone myers achievement, people always disconnect and you just lose your add ons... It's bullshit.
-
15 seconds to open a gate is way to little time I think. Kind of removes a lot of the tension.. well... whatever. I'm tired of this game changing all the time and making the killer's job harder. I thought it was supposed to be scary but guess I was wrong.

Hmmn or may'be the only history repeating itself is certain killers mains refusing to get better and instead rant over every change. But by all means go ahead and do that and go play a different game.
I'm sorry, but I always feel this kind of "GITGUD" argument is super pointless. If only for the fact that it goes both ways... a killer main could also say that survivors want it easy instead of playing the game better. I do think (as everybody else) legion needs adjustments, but I do think the several nerfs were a little too much. I mean.. it's a full stack of nerfs! But again, I'm also curious to see how these changes are actually gonna play in the PTB. Maybe the increased base speed will be enough? dont think so but let's see.
-
@ProBeefcake said:
lmao what kinda ######### change is it to lose Feral Frenzy if you miss. You're already crouched and have limited visibility in Feral Frenzy, you're slower now in it, and survivors can just juke you easy due to the short lunge range. It's unironically better to not even use their power, they're an M1 killer now. Why not just remove Feral Frenzy and create a new power for them? This change is garbage and I don't even play Legion.
My thoughts exactly! I think just making deep wound not draining while in the killers terror radius would be enough. Maybe decreasing the feral frenzy speed as well. Now removing scratch marks, making him slower and specially just shutting down his power completely if you miss a swing is ridiculous. I mean.. now he is a high risk no reward killer, because his power completely sucks.
Instead of fixing an exploit(which im totally in favor of) they just destroyed him. So killer mains get a big nerf and survivor mains get mettle of man. Maybe they are taking into consideration that now we can have 2 killers in a match! That would make legion viable!
-

Alternatively, they can just put the daily rewards back to what they were before they decided to nerf them for no reason.

I'm starting to play less and less now, as the grind is getting too much, RNG is too much of a #########, I want to play different builds, mix up my game play a bit, but if I save up 1 million BP, blow them, and end up getting tier 1 and tier 2 versions of ######### perks it is completely demoralizing and demotivating.
Also, it feels like a waste of time, especially since a lot of the games on the road to those 1 million BP were not enjoyable (DC's, 3 man games etc)
I really think this "tier" thing is kind of bullshit. Specially now that we have so many perks. So you need to be lucky enough to find the perk you want on the bloodweb and then be even luckier to find it another two times! The grind is atrocious.
For example, my Level 30 David King still have "we'r gonna live forever" tier 1! And it's one of his starting perks!! Which means in 30 bloodwebs I couldnt find it again. It is a pain.

@Peanits said:
Thanks for the feedback. This would be pretty nice, although ten per day might be a little much. At some point the daily part gets too demanding for people who only have time to play a couple games. If I were to get rituals that require me to play three different killers and two different survivors and only had an hour or so to play each day, there's a pretty good chance I wouldn't get them all done. Having fewer rituals that reward more points would make them a little more accessible.
Maybe remove the "daily" part and turn them into just "rituals"? heheh But in all seriousness I understand your point. I myself dont have a lot of time to play everyday, I might get 4 or 5 matches a day. But what Im really thinking about is a way to give people more ways to earn bloodponints without having to tweak the amount earned in match. Now that we have 15 killers/survs the grind is really tough for people who havent played since the beginning.
And thank you for your reply!
-
I agree with you. I play most killer so it doesnt affect me all that much but I can totally understand where u'r coming from. Maybe the rituals could be generic.. like "Open an exit gate" no matter who you're playing. Or "get (x) sacrifices", "Hit (x) survivors"...
-
I think maybe it would be better if it just triggered a deep wound status effect, like borrowed time, so the survivor has to stop and mend himself, at the same time adding some urgency to it. Or maybe it could be like an automatic dead hard, where the survivor just gains a little bit of distance to get to a vault or pallet. The way it is right now is completely ridiculous.. It can take up to 4 hit's to get a survivor to the first hook! If you hit a survivor once and he insta heals, you have to hit him another 3 times(!!!!!) to get him hooked. That is complete bull*****.
