  • Hey, Doc just changed the Character infobox so that it has a link to the Movement Speed article. Now it should be easier to find.

But it's true this page used to be very simple and didn't have such a vast quantity of information on it. The Interactions page also has some number values on it for further reference, they are mostly not related to movement speeds though.

Ok but you're not understanding that if I can't find this link than I can't exactly tell if there was an answer to begin with, hence why the conclusion was made. The link was well hidden to begin with, so unless I had prior knowledge to it's existence (like you do since you work with the DBD wiki), which I didn't, than it's easy to not know it was there. Sorry if that comes off as mean (not trying to be mean), i'm just explaining that there's a reason why I made that conclusion.

I appreciate the link, i'll be sure to make use of it if there's a need to. I'd like to reiterate that nobody was complaing here, all I did was point out that the information wasn't easily accessible and that's all, I don't understand why you draw that conclusion each time we talk.

With that out of the way, thank you for all your hard work. I do understand that you're only human and I do appreciate your work, thanks for putting time into the DBD Wiki for players like us to use.

It's not your fault, the page is indeed hard to find. I'm not blaming you for concluding there was no answer on the Wiki, I would also think so if I were in your position. My point is, to prevent such misunderstandings from happening in the future, just tell me in case you are unsure about whether or not the wiki has certain information on it.

What I meant by "complaining" is continuously telling users in the Forums that something on the Wiki is wrong in a slightly destructive way when you could just come up to a Wiki Admin and inform them about your concerns. Again, I don't blame you because you probably didn't know who to contact. Finally, like I said, if you are concerned about anything regarding the Wiki, let me know.

I'll keep that in-mind then, despite the fact that I looked into it on other sources as well, they also didn't yield much information since it's a day 1 release... I either have to go on the DBD Wiki to get an answer, go to our outdated/unreliable sources, or get the information myself in-game, which somehow finds its way on the DBD Wiki after...?

I've talked to you in the past about information being incorrect or wrong on the Wiki, it's not intended as a side-jab to the "incompetence" of the writers themselves, it's just an ending comment that I leave and that's all. Again, I appreciate the DBD Wikis constant research that's put out for us to use, but my comment "It isn't easy to find" is quite reasonable, which you even said yourself at the start of your reply.

Also, I concluded that they didn't have an answer because the link to that page is hidden under a piece of text that says "movement speed" in caleb's side description, so it's really easy to conclude that answer as a result. I now know about this page, which i'm thankful for, but you must understand that concluding that answer was due to the link being fairly hidden, since I did triple check before concluding said answer above.

I see where you're coming from, it is in fact a bit tricky to find this page. However, my point is, you shouldn't really conclude the Wiki doesn't have an answer if you didn't look everything up.

I really care about what Community members think about the Wiki, hence why I try to address all issues that are being pointed out by the Community. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the Wiki or information on it, contact me on Discord or Steam (they can be found on my user profile on the Wiki https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/UserProfile:FichteHiro0202) and I'll do everything in my power to answer the question or address the issue.

We are humans after all, and not Devs, so we don't really have any way to confirm data not gotten from the visible game is accurate. My whole point is, if you have a question or a suggestion, please let me know and we'll discuss it. Complaining about it with other people doesn't really help, you know.

Wasn't even aware that part of the DBD Wiki existed, thanks for letting me know.

But in my defense, they don't have it listed anywhere in his personal log, so why would I fish through a section of the wiki that I wasn't aware existed? Why not just add it to the movement speed part of his side description in the top right hand side.

Np. I agree with you that it's a bit tricky to find this article, but pretty sure they do have links to this page, not many though. The main reason for the article being a bit hidden compared to others is the used formatting. I'm not the one who decides how the Wiki looks like, but I have to stick to the determined formatting.

I can see if we can do something to facilitate the access to the page, which I agree is a bit difficult at the moment.

However, I don't think you should conclude the Wiki doesn't have an answer for the question without asking someone or thoroughly searching through the articles. Saying "I didn't find an answer on the Wiki" would be more appropriate in this case.

  • The best way to alleviate the time lost early game is to use Corrupt Intervention. This perk gives you more time to set up Traps in your spawn area without worrying about Gens getting popped as fast as they would get.

Fake Setting Traps also helps: this strategy basically consists of starting to place down a Trap in a Pallet Loop to scare the Survivor away from the loop and force them into an unsafe position.

    • Starting to place down a Trap when a Survivor is about to stun you will also prevent you from getting stunned.

You should also place down Traps on pathways Survivors normally use, such as Main Building entrances. If you understand Survivors' Movements, you will probably know what they'll path like and therefore be able to predict their movement.

  • @Deathslinger said:

Does it exist and what is it called and what are you expected to do?~

Yes, it does exist. It is called Rite of the Deathslinger, and you are tasked with spearing, reeling, and hitting 5 Survivors to get 30000 Bloodpoints.

  • @Rezblaze said:

I was watching gameplay of Otz playing Deathslinger, and a few minutes in, he downed someone near a generator and Surge was activated.

He had a Pop saved up at the time, but when Surge activated, Pop was completely removed.

Is this a bug? An intentional implementation? Was this a problem before or has nobody noticed as of right now.

It should be a bug, Surge technically doesn't deactivate Pop Goes the Weasel. Since the new patch just launched, there might be some bugs yet to be fixed.

  • Yeah, the matchmaking system isn't really the best. Also, ranks aren't the only factor regarded to create matches, queue time and ping play an important role, too. In case you waited a long time, joined a match with high ping, and went against far more experienced opponents, then it might be an inconsistency with the matchmaking system itself since it's quite inconsistent sometimes.

  • @FireHazard said:

    @justme26

He slows down, that's why the add-on "Wanted Poster" exists.

The Wanted Poster gives a +10% boost to movement speed while aiming (as the DBD Wiki says), how fast he moves while aiming is... maybe 100%? 95%? It doesn't feel slower than Pigs crouch m/s, but it's definitely slower than his base Movement speed. The DBD Wiki unfortunately doesn't have an answer for this question either, unless I missed it.

Unfortunately, you did miss it. On the Movement Speeds article, you can find a nice table where all his movement speeds are listed, including that when aiming down sights: 0,75 x his normal movement speed - 82,5%; 3.3 m/s.

  • The original quote was made by one of the wiki's first admins, way back in 2016, actually just 3 days after the game's release. The editor in question has been inactive for over 2 years by now and it's unclear from where that piece of information originates. It could have been from an early dev diary, a post, the artbook (doubtful) or he could have come up with it by himself. Fact is: we just don't know.

I would not call what the devs have done a retcon for this case.

    @Khorzad said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1139269#Comment_1139269

How is a source from a wiki(that anyone can edit) proof that the devs retconned their lore? Because looking through the lore streams and the lore in their official page, there was never an official confirmation that survivors became Killers after being drained of hope. The closest thing we had was Baker speculating what would happened and his guess that Trapper may had been a survivor once, but that is all that there was about it, in universe guesses from a source that lacked a lot of information:

With each “death” I feel myself weaker, a little piece of my soul devoured by the darkness before I awake. I fear, eventually that I will lose hope. I wonder, then, what this dark entity will do with me then. I want to find out, but I fear the answer.

I came seeking answers but I drown in riddles instead. I know not how long I will be able to carry on. I have all the time in the world. But only during the small pauses that I am granted. During the hunt my time is restraint. I learn more and more. But my hope and sanity depletes faster and faster. What am to become of me? Have the killers started out at this campfire too? I bid this journal adieu. I must focus on staying alive.

And the fact that Survivors go into the Void after losing hope is not proof that now Survivors can’t become Killers. We have a canon example in the Alchemist so it is possible for that to happen, but the Entity needs an incentive to do it and the survivor needs to have the potential and state of mind to transform into one, which I think makes much more sense than survivors transforming into Killers no matter what. I would think that is the same as the Entity choosing Killers in the real world, they have to had some “killer potential” or darkness inside them that the Entity can exploit.

Actually, we weren't complaining at all about the information, we were debating which side of the write up for that emblem was true or not.

I personally won't change said information because I don't want to. I take what's given to us on the DBD Wiki and other reliable sources and use that to answer questions, that's all. We also still don't know if some of that info is incorrectly written or not, so it's best that we don't rewrite it and make it worse.

You're more than welcome to edit it yourself, but I personally won't because I don't know which side is correct or not. I would assume the Exit Gates being powered and rewarding everyone 15 points is accurate, but again I don't know. I also don't know if opening the Exit Gates rewards a score to the emblem as the description claims, so I can't exactly erase information that could be right or wrong.

    and as an ending statement...

Not everything will be correct, especially on a collective site like the DBD Wiki, some things will be inaccurate and that's OK. If something is wrong than someone like Me or Fibijean will find this information else-where or gather it ourselves.

It did read as a complaint, even if you apparently did not intend it to be one. I understand your reasoning for not contributing to the Wiki, but we would then very much prefer it if you'd stop putting the blame on those that do contribute to it. In regards to the Exit Gate points, the editor in question does not know more than you do. As was pointed out previously, interpreting DbD's code is not an easy thing to do and it's often ambiguous at best. That information can then only be put on the Wiki in as good faith as possible and being blamed for possible inaccuracies or things remaining unclear for that is not nice at all.

As an ending statement of ourselves: we're only humans and doing this voluntarily in the best interest of providing information about the game, please keep that in mind whenever you reference the Wiki.

There are a lot of places that welcomed immigrants in the US. Also, the region in which Autohaven is located is reportedly rural. So NYC isn't really my main prediction. However, rural New York State would fit in much better with the informations we already have.

  • @FireHazard said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1095221#Comment_1095221

I mean, the DBD Wiki hasn't always been 100% accurate with information through text and or tests provided, so it makes sense if this was an error on whoever wrote it or it's a contradiction to something someone else wrote before.

So in the case for the Exit Gates it's easy to just assume one or the other, which either way can be test in-game to confirm or just by powering them is enough. The scoring for this is fairly small too, considering the Generators take up most of the scoring for that Emblem, that and the dull/hex totems, depending on how many you do.

Hi Fibijean, hi FireHazard. The information regarding Emblems featured on the Wiki was deduced from the code and interpreting that is not an easy task. If you are unhappy with the wording or think there is a mistake, you are welcome to improve said information yourself. That would be more helpful than complaining about it on here. If the Wiki doesn't receive direct feedback on what information is supposedly wrong/inaccurate/poorly worded and how it is that, we are naturally going to assume that everything's alright and not adjust it.

I recall seeing some crazy thread of detective work that put it in Wisconsin in the 80s based on the license plates, car models, species of trees, and other stuff. This would make sense with the IL plate since IL and WI are neighbors.

Yeah, I definitely agree with the 80s part, and WI also seems plausible. However, I don't think you can determine a Realm's irl location by looking at the tree species. DBD's trees are considerably different from trees in real life.

The Wiki is missing a ton of numbers FYI. Barely anything on there has an exact %

I think you haven't been there lately. Recently, the folks there added exact numbers to all Add-ons and Offerings. These can be seen by hovering over the modifiers (slightly, moderately etc.). Go there and test it if you don't believe me.

Yeah, there have been tons of people asking for some very small QoL improvements and bug fixes to demogorgon, and they have been actively ignored. At this point I assume those bugs are permanent for the life of the character.

    Yeah, sadly.

  • Seemingly, they didn't take what we said into consideration, the letter went deep into that.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Yeah I am waiting to see what they do with the PTB, I am not going to jump to any conclusions until then.

However I will be clear. If they actually do hide the ranks, it will be a very clear message from the devs about how flawed of character they are, and I will no longer trust them. It may be what drives me from the game for good, because despite all the game's issues as long as I feel I can trust the devs somewhat, I will stay on board.

    Also think so.

Time will tell, I suppose. All we can do at this point is wait and see what happens 🤷

You're right, but we can speculate, or can we?

Based on previous examples, it is partly reasonable to assume the worst, or assume they won't ever tell the community what truly led them to doing this.

  • @TheBean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/975257#Comment_975257

Well this could be part of them reworking it....

If they were getting allot of complaints about match making... with ranks being the crux of the problem.

If they don't have the rank rework done... Why not just take out the summary part to help remove a bunch of the complaints until it is done.

Makes sense to me. If anything it just shows they are working on it, probably just isn't done yet.

It will just be one less thing for people to complain about until it is reworked.

Maybe, but I think this is the optimistic theory. I would really like to think that's true, but we have far more evidence the other theory is accurate.

  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/975290#Comment_975290

Yeah, I meant after they release the patch notes. If they release the official patch notes and the rank thing is actually in there, I hope they'll follow it up with some explanation as to why.

Yeah, but I think they won't. They want to keep earning money from new players who buy skins and DLCs, so they wouldn't publicly assume they want to "shut the community up".

They mainly balance out the game so that Survivors have fun on every level because new players commonly play survivor, and survivor mains are a majority in this game. They also need to decrease the skill cap needed to play survivor properly to make the game easier to new players.

We have too much evidence this is their intention, and this really upsets me.

  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/975242#Comment_975242

Yeah, I'm hoping that part was inaccurate, because otherwise I have no idea what they're thinking there. If it does turn out to be true, I hope that they'll at least give some explanation for why they decided to make such a change.

Yup, but I doubt they will in case it is true. They wouldn't want the community to think they are trying to censor our opinions or "shut us up".

  • @USELESS said:

    I know that this new PTB is for New players and I respect that, new players like to start like survivors, but if they only nerf killers and their perks, making a lot more easy to the survivor, what will be the funny of easy games for survivors and toxic survivors for the killer? My personal problem as killer main it's swf (I know u know that), but not only this, killers can be learned, example, Leatherface, when using his chainsaw it's just stay on corners that you will be safe;

    trapper, you can easily disarm his traps;

Hillbilly, just move for one side that he can't hit u

Survivors must receive some nerfs too, perks like adrenaline shouldn't work while exhausted, already happened with me that in a chase I used my Sprint burst and after it ends I got my adrenaline going on.

We need more fixes too, to create a lobby it takes so much longer to get stressed by survivors what is going to increase a lot survivor players making this game end.

I also think survivors should get nerfs, but that's not the key problem. The badly designed maps are the key problem with this game since people abuse god loops. The Devs allegedly don't care about removing god loops from the game and balancing out strong tiles, they mainly nerf killers.

The skill cap for playing survivor has become increasingly lower.

  • @TheBean said:

Rank has been a joke in the game for the most part since the beginning for the simple fact of SWF. They can't place them properly in the Match Making and it ruins it.

Maybe them taking rank out of the summary screen is them moving a step forward to remove rank from the game..

Maybe it will lead to something else... Like 2 queues... a casual queue and a ranked solo queue?

    Who knows.

I don't think so. They told us they would be reworking ranks this year, so they'll most likely not remove them. I seriously think they are doing that so that we can't complain about the matchmaking and they don't need to fix it.

But true, SWFs have a huge influence on the matchmaking, making it progressively worse.

  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/975161#Comment_975161

That sounds really sucky, I'm sorry you had that experience 🙁 I don't know what they're thinking half the time, either. I wish we got more information about why they make certain decisions, honestly, and I hope they'll give us more when it comes to the issues you brought up.

Most of the time, I assume that they know something we don't, because after all, we don't have the same "big picture" view that they have - we don't have access to the same data, and we don't know what their plans for the game are in the long term.

But in the meantime, all we can do is wait for the most advantageous time to tell them honestly what we think, and hope that they will see fit to take that feedback on board.

Yup, that's what we can go after all. I would also like to have these background informations so that we could know the reasons behind all this.

If all these changes implied by the leaked patch notes actually go live, then it'll be sad to see that the Devs really gave up on fixing the matchmaking and want us to stop complaining. I suppose it's their intention with the tally screen change.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

The sky isn't falling. The game isn't dying. But I do agree that nerfing ruin without addressing why killers used ruin in the first place is a mistake. Killers used ruin because it was the only effective perk at slowing down the game at the start. This game is incredibly snowbally. If either side gets too much momentum at the start of the game it is very difficult if not impossible to recover. What should have been done a long time ago is for some kind of counter-snowball mechanic to be introduced.

For example, during the start of the game there is a penalty towards repairing generators whenever 4 survivors are alive and none are in the dying state or hooked. Then when survivors start dying the remaining survivors get a bonus toward generator repair speed for each missing survivor. The actual % for the penalty and bonus could get tweaked until you get the desirable results of something that feels fair to both sides.

You're right, but the problem is not keeping the Gens untouched while applying pressure, it's essentially applying pressure. Certain areas of some maps are overly strong, and you cannot down any Survivor sitting there unless you are playing with a viable Killer (if they know what they are doing, of course).

In a situation where you could down survivors and apply pressure, you would be totally right.

Totally true, but I'm really affected because me and Doc (wiki admins) talked to them personally about that and they discarded our opinions. We compiled a letter by us, and 48 more Dead by Daylight veterans, and they seemingly disregarded what we said.

I really appreciate their work at trying to balance the game out, but it sometimes feels like they are doing it "wrong" on purpose, partly because they ignore us.

No one has said that people have no right to complain, and I specifically said in my comment that the complaints the OP has are not invalid simply because he hasn't tested the changes yet.

I agree that a lot of what has been announced so far is worrisome, but it's still a fact that a well-informed opinion holds more weight, so the more information players have before giving their opinion, the more likely it is to be taken seriously by the developers.

    Totally true

  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/975090#Comment_975090

I would encourage you to post about it again then! I don't know what they'll change and what they won't, but I do know they'll put a lot more store by feedback that is given by people who have read the patch notes and tested the changes for themselves.

You're right, but last time a significant amount of players played the PTB, including myself and some friends, and various killer mains, but their opinion was seemingly ignored. I don't know what criteria the Devs use, or if they think they know it better or something like that. I understand it is not easy to make everyone happy.

  • @SpacemanOnTheCouch said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/975073#Comment_975073

This is one of the most frustrating parts of the announcement. Devs think everyone who is complaining has no right too because they haven't seen it in action.

This is complete BS and is insulting to the customers. We're upset because they've completely nerfed the most popular perk in Red Ranks and they have completely ignored the frustrations Killers face.

We all know the perk is going to suck because it is a HEX TOTEM with very little advantage.

If they want to make this change to Ruin, they'd first have to fix map design so that killers have a shot at applying pressure onto the Survivors without them getting "genrushed".

I agree it's complicated to think of a way to rework this perk as of now, and that's why it virtually can't be reworked at the current times.

The Devs largely ignore the veterans of their own game, and mainly consider the opinions of survivor mains, but I hope they are trying to change that.

Playing Killers at Red Ranks is difficult because of the many survivor-sided maps and fast generator speed.

Both issues have to be addressed so that Ruin can be reworked in a fair way.

  • @Fibijean said:

This is one of the most kindly worded posts on the topic, and you clearly care a lot about the game's success. I think that's great and I commend you for it.

For your own sake, though, and the sake of the game, since you obviously think this is something the devs need to take very seriously, I would implore you to wait until the official patch notes are released, and ideally until the changes have released on the PTB and had a chance to be tested in practice, before giving any feedback. Not because what you have to say now is invalid, but simply because if you do that, your feedback is far more likely to be taken seriously and not dismissed as just jumping the gun.

That's true, but I'm afraid the Devs won't change much for the final release, that's the example they set.

I would really appreciate if they heard us out this time, and will certainly form my final opinion after the PTB is released.

The Wiki is official, but not run by the Devs. That's why some misunderstandings happen, but we are carefully working on it so that such things don't happen again.

The hitboxes also seem inconsistent. I score some weird hits and some other obvious hits aren’t scored.

If it's late in the game and the killer disconnects and u would have gotten a pip,u don't get it. And if a survivor disconnects before the game even starts u still lose a pip. Can make ranking hard...

U are right. I think all remaining Survivors should get at least a safety pip if the Killer DC's. If a teammate DC's, then it's harder to reward the other Survivors.

Plague is not "weak," the issue with her is that once people break and don't cleanse, you no longer have a power. It may be simple to get downs, but she becomes about as much fun as licking sandpaper.

    That's true.
