  • Ultimately, I'm happy with the current HUD with one or two complaints. I actually preferred the previous 4.5.0 HUD. I liked it spread out like other online games.

-The gen count centered at the top of the screen was always in view (plus the extra text would help new players).

-The survivors being listed on the top left didn't bother me at all as I'm used to looking at party members' health bars in MMOs (typically listed in a similar fashion) and discord usernames. But ultimately it takes just as long for me to look at the bottom left as it does to look at the top left so it's no big deal either way. If anything, I think that it looks too bunched up now. Yes, I guess you can see more information at once, but typically I'm not looking for all of the information at once. I'm glancing to see how many gens are left or a player's health state, etc.

-The survivor portraits that are being used don't bother me. They could use any and I would be fine with it. I don't pay that much attention to those details in game anyway. I would be fine with just names. *shrug*

-My biggest issue with the HUD is the Killer hook count. As is, I'll never use it for information. When it came out, I thought it was going to reflect "how many times you've hooked survivors", not "how many "hook states" have passed." It's supposed to help keep track of progress but you can't get an iridescent devout emblem if you don't hook survivors at least 9 times. I don't care if "three hook states" have been counted because someone died. I know they died. Their picture tells me they died if I need a reference and those two extra hook states that have been counted because they happened to die on their first hook don't mean anything to me because that survivor is dead. What I *do* need to know is "do I need to hook this downed survivor to get my iridescent emblem or have I hooked enough survivors this game and can use Devour Hope to kill them?"

  • Both killers and survivors should have their characters and builds locked once they enter a lobby. Survivors should not be able to see each other before the match unless it's a generic thumbnail of the character, but not showing what they have equipped (this would prevent survivors from lobby dodging until they are with a group that they want). The killer should be able to see the survivors in the lobby, as they do now, so they know what they are wearing to accurately hunt them, to counter SWFs (who are talking about what they have anyway), and for flavor.

  • I have no issues with my eyes hurting/straining while playing on any of the reworked maps and my eyesight is pretty terrible overall.

As far as the green tint, I was against keeping it at all. I would be completely fine if all of the maps had more "realistic" colorations, even if they looked a little more similar. The maps have plenty that sets them apart from one another. However, the majority of the community does not share my opinion (and that's fine). Many players in the community threw a fit over the lack of blue in the Macmillan maps and spammed the devs about keeping the green in Autohaven, so they kept it. I'm fine with that result as well. It's not too much to me and it doesn't take away any of my enjoyment.

  • It’s happened to me every game as the Twins except my first one. I unbind Victor, he gets stuck halfway in the ground and can’t do anything, I switch back to Charlotte and have to deal without my ability for however long the timer is (a long time unless a survivor intervenes).

  • Yep. It’s happened to me as Kate and my boyfriend as Lourie. Sometimes they were quiet when injured, other times they weren’t. It just switched back and forth throughout each match.

This is happening on PC too.

I only managed for it to happen a single time, which was my first game as Blight around 20 mins after the DLC came out.

Pretty much the only way to get around this bug for now is to pay attention to the perk's timer and if it randomly restarts, it means someone touched the generator.

Oh yeah! That’s clever. I was going to run surveillance but if the timer resets like that, I can save myself a perk slot.

  • Peanits said in his stream that the ability to switch killers while in the lobby will likely not come back. They still plan to switch to MMR matchmaking once they work out the problems they ran into, and each killer had/will have their own MMR rating. I’d imagine they don’t see a reason to change it back temporarily.

There are good games and there are awful games. There is no in-between.

Devs, you need to do more and put more effort into better hit detection. I'm growing increasingly sick and tired of having a 40ms ping and getting hit when I'm 2 meters away after vaulting a window, and I still get hit. This is ridiculous. Yesterday I was even hit through a wall, the wall of the bus on Gas Heaven. The new hit detection beta hasn't made a difference at all in my opinion. It's not enough to just try and fix "laggy" killers, when you need to improve hit detection as a whole overall. :(

Are you aware that they deactivated the hit validation beta two days ago?

They already kind of did that.

In the PTB (assuming this isn't a bug) lit totems are way more subtle and not as bright anymore, you need to be really close to see if its lit or not.

    These two are hex totems.

Of course it could also just be a bug with the light sources, since the PTB had many bugs in general.

I actually love this. The candles being lit underneath and the whole thing isn’t aflame and bright like a beacon. I hope that’s part of the update.

I don’t know how many times I’ve started out a trial and could pick out a hex totem from a distance before I had control of my character.

  • Two things:

1: I play on PS4 and I got out of the hole on my own by running and hitting “options” as a survivor and by lunging and hitting “options” on killer. It took a couple tries and it’s not a “fix” but it helped while waiting for a fix. (PS4 “Options” button is the “esc” key on PC).

2: They posted on their Twitter account, replying to the same question saying that they will release a fix along with the next chapter release. My assumption is that it is because they are updating parts of the maps that have the “hill hole”.

Scratch marks are already hard to see for colorblinds. Making them dimmer without any colorblind mode is not a good idea.

the red stain could use an update though, to make the killers moves not as predictable.

Oh yeah! I absolutely agree that there needs to be a colorblind option. Regardless of any changes to scratch marks, etc.

  • That’s been the case for me as killer for over a year. I play on PS4 and have almost always been matched against red ranked survivors when playing killer, regardless of my rank at the time. I assume it’s because there aren’t enough red rank killers, but it’s also very difficult to rank up with that kind of matchmaking.

When MMR was active, it was the closest my ranks/skill level has been in a long time. I actually enjoyed playing killer again. I hope they tweak it and re-release it.

I've noticed that if you infect the Survivors CARRIED ITEM without hitting the Survivor, the item becomes infected and emits the infection cloud (I performed this on a Quentin with a MedKit). The Survivor is ACTUALLY INFECTED, but they do not have a green outline on their profile, nor do you receive a Score event for it. They do become Broken.

    Reproduction Step:

    • Vomit on a Survivors Carried item without hitting the Survivor. (IE Medkit)

Occasionally, when spraying like a fire-hose left and right at a stationary Survivor, one or two "hits" from the vomit stream may not Infect the Survivor, yet appear as though it does.

The survivor plays the normal 'hit' animation from being vomited on, but there is no "infection" score event, nor do they become infected over time.

Your description of the “spray left and right at a stationary survivor” sounds like what I’ve experienced.

  • Step 6: ???

    Step 7: Profit!

Oops! Thought I posted this in the Report Bugs forum. Womp womp. Too many windows open at once. I’ll repost it there.

I chased a survivor around for a little while after vomiting on them when I first noticed the bug. Their infection never showed up on their player icon and they didn’t become broken throughout the chase, but they did let off the green “fume” animations the entire time. When I vomited on them again, their icon showed them as infected and eventually broken. However, I’ve only seen it from the killer’s POV.

  • Unfortunately, I don't think it's just the licensed characters that are preventing cross progression.

Another game that I play (Hi-Rez's Smite) has all original characters (based off of Gods from different mythologies, but not owned by anyone other than Hi-Rez) and they only recently got cross-progression over PC and multiple consoles. Xbox is included in their cross progression, but PS4 is not.

My guess is that it has to do with the console companies (Sony and Microsoft) not wanting to lose money by players not buying their dlc's/in-game currency used to purchase cosmetics.

  • I’m wondering why the MMr system is working out for some but not for others?

I’ve watched some streamers who play for hours multiple days a week and they even state that the matchmaking is working fine for them with very few players being out of place.

[Side note: I’ve also watched streamers jump from killer to killer and complain that the survivors they are going against are all new, not realizing they have to build an MMR on each killer individually. They even go easy on them, which is nice but not helping the algorithm. Not the entire problem, but I’ve seen it more than once and felt the need to bring it up.]

Personally, the new matchmaking system is working fine for me. I rarely see unmatched games after I’ve played a few as each killer. My survivor side seems fine as well, based on the results of my previous matches.

  • A dev stated in another forum that it takes about 10 games to “sort out” where you stand with the new matchmaking. My experience since yesterday:

For me, it’s been very obvious that the players I play against have been affected by the previous game’s outcome:

Killer: Last night I played as The Clown, which I rarely do well as, and the survivors I went against had maybe one perk and were obviously new. I did very well against them. After about 2 games like that (still as The Clown), I noticed that the survivors I was going against started getting better and having better perks.

Survivor: As a formerly red rank survivor (since rank doesn’t matter anymore) my first few survivor games were against baby killers. One perk (if any at all) and very obviously new to the game. After a few games like that, I started going against killers who had P3 skins and who very obviously knew how to play that killer.

So, to me, it seems as if the matchmaking is working much better than it was. It looks like it just takes a few matches to get it figured out.

Also keep in mind that the numerical rank that someone holds no longer affects their matchmaking. You can still pip/de-pip based on the emblem system criteria because the system is still in place, but your performance based on the new matchmaking criteria is what will affect your games going forward.

  • I’ve tried and tried to play killer, but for months the matchmaking has been painful. Today alone, I attempted to play killer to finish up some last minute challenges before the Rift closes and had maybe one player near my rank, and the rest were red ranks (mostly 1s and 2s).

How is anyone supposed to rank up when you can’t go against players of your own rank to learn? It’s beyond frustrating.

I might be able to live with it if it were every few games. But it’s EVERY game.
