  • All of this while Nurse still ignores the very fundamentals of the game. There are so many perks and mechanics that simply can’t be in the game because Nurse exists. But no, these mid/low tier killers are way too problematic for the game.

the fact that someone at bhvr came up with these SM suggestions and someone else okay’d it is very worrisome for the games future. And let’s not forget all the other reworks we’ve had like Twins, pig, freddy, sadako, billy etc. Is anyone actually trusting that when the SM rework finally arrives it will be well implemented?

Get your ######### together bhvr and if you can’t figure it out on your own, LISTEN TO THE COMMUNITY AND PLAYERS who have thousands of hours of experience on certain killers and the game.

I genuinely feel so bad for anyone who enjoyed playing Skull Merchant, as someone who played Sadako since release, I know how frustrating this is.

  • I’d say Nurse is infinitely more problematic than Blight is, she completely ignores the fundamental concept and mechanics behind looping and chasing. Perks have gotten nerfed solely because of Nurse which is ridiculous to think of. She needs to be completely reworked or removed from the game but bhvr look at killrate and see that noobs are loosing with her so they think it’s fair or something.

I agree with Blight being a bit busted but at least tgere is some form of counter play even against a good Blight. Against a good Nurse there’s simply nothing you can do

People give up because Bhvr has messed up the game balance. Bhvr listening to Killer mains too much will destroy the game eventually unless the trend is reversed.

the game is honestly in it’s most balanced state it’s ever been in. Bhvr favoring killer mains is simply not true, just look at how many killers have gotten nerfed and reworked thanks to survivors hating them. All the anti camp/tunnel plus all the info you get in the UI is a huge buff for survivors.

They buff and nerf stuff for both sides that they think is problematic. I do miss old dbd though, both sides had OP stuff, perhaps it’s just nostalgic speaking but the game was more fun back then.

  • Sounds like you might be a bit burned out. Most games are always more fun in the beginning but I do agree that I don’t like alot of the directions the devs seem to be taking. The game is in the most balanced state it’s ever been in but ironically it seems that the more balanced it is the less fun it becomes.

As for playing survivor on controller, many comp players have said it’s an advantage which I do agree with. It’s just easier to loop things tight and control your character in general on controller, only thing that’s harder is flashlight saves but that too isn’t an issue with enough practice. Killer on controller is definitely at a disadvantage though but I’ve seen some incredible controller killers playing on a very high level, even Huntresses and Blights.

I started playing dbd 5 years ago and have felt burned out many times, go play something else for a few months and come back after a new chapter release or two. I guarantee the game will feel more fresh and enjoyable!

Btw, you do know that you can simply turn off crossplay if you don’t want to play against pc players right?

  • Hi!

There’s a content creator that used to do Sadako content on YouTube who runs a discord focused on dbd and Sadako. The Sadako channel doesn’t have quite as much activity as used to but there’s still a bunch of people very knowledgeable and passionate about Sadako and dbd in general on there. It’s a very wholesome little place!

Just send me a PM if you’d like me to share the link :)

  • I think Sadako is in the best spot she’s ever been. I’m surprised to see people saying 2.0 was the best since it was the most braindead version of her that lowered her skill ceiling significantly. Perhaps that’s why people like 2.0 because it didn’t require any skill at all.

I’d say what Sadako really needs right now is first to fix her demanifest invincibility phasing which is almost 50% shorter than intended (currently 0.7 seconds instead of 1.2), many people have reported the bug here but bhvr has yet to acknowledge it. Second thing she needs is an addon rework. 80-90% of her addons are utter garbage and the iri tape is now one of the worst iri addons in the entire game.

  • This post explains my feelings and hopes towards Sadako better than I ever could.

The Sadako rework removed almost everything that made her the most fun character for me and many others. What felt even worse was that we all predicted exactly how problematic the rework would be in our feedback but got zero response from the devs on any of the posts.

So when another rework was announced I was hyped to say the least, I just hope that this time the devs actually listens to the community and the players who have thousands of hours played on this character. April’s post here is great reference point, so is her older posts on the forum.

Thanks to bhvr for not giving up on our girl from the well. Hopefully this time they’ll nail it and make her FUN again with more ways for a player to express their skill with her, something that’s missing on the current version of her.

See you in the fog everyone <3

  • The latest fast vaults seem alot slower than the OG (pre buff) ones, even for male survivors. There seem to be barely any speed difference between medium and fast vaults. When comparing clips between the OG and new vaults there’s definitely a noticeable difference

  • Distortion is perfectly fine as is. I’m saying this as a killer who loves aura perks. There are plenty of survivor builds that completely counter killer builds and vice versa. It isn’t that big of a deal having to track survivors the old fashioned way.

if it really bothers you just run Xeno’s new locker perk. Completely counters Distortion.

Also remember that if the survivor going against a killer without Aura reading they’re basically playing with only 3 perks. Distortion is completely fine and the buff was much needed imo

  • What will end up happening is that they’ll heavily nerf her condemned and give her nothing to compensate for it. New Sadako barely have any skill expression. Building up pressure requires zero skill unlike old Sadako.

Sadako mains predicted exactly what would happend if the new changes went through and they were right on every aspect because they actually play the Character. Which bvhr honestly doesn’t seem to do at all

  • One of the things that hurts this game the most is the lack of transparency from the devs. A thing they stated they wanted to improve but have failed to deliver upon.

there are so many questionable decisions made with zero explanation what so ever, leaving the community to guess what was the thought process behind it.

So many killers have their addons or basekit nerfed even if literally no one asked for it. My best guess is that they nerfed it based on number in their statistics which more often than not doesn’t reflect balance in practice.

So many killers have addons which are literally trash and not worth using. The devs statistic show that a particular addon has way higher usage than the rest. So they nerf that one good addon instead of realizing the reason it was so heavily used is because it’s the only addon worth using, all the others are #########!

This example seem to be the template for most of their number tweaking and balancing changes and will end up hurting the game tremendously in the long run.

this game could’ve been so damn good if the devs actually listened and communicated with the players more.

  • The devs make so many questionable decisions and make it seem they never even play tested it. Or the people who playtest it doesn’t know what they’re doing.

I wish there was some transparency between the devs and the community. That would be way healthier for the game than any of the recent “balance” changes they’ve done

    Im so sad right now.

We did so much work on the feedback.

    All for nothing.

Yup.. we didn’t even get a single word in response from the devs. I recall they mentioning that they want to be more transparent with the community but I’ve yet to see any effort from their part to make that statement seem truthful.

    Very sad indeed :(

  • from a killer standpoint I really like the idea and it would make her play a little more like old Sadako who was loved by many killer players.

However, the 0,5 global condemned isn’t enough to lower her killrate in solo q/low mmr. It would just mean they are all dead at 3 gens instead of 4. It is fairly easy to keep your tvs turned off and deny newer players from picking up tapes, that is if they can find an active tv in the first place before it’s too late.

I believe the best and healthiest option would be to scrap this rework. Bring back old Sadako and rework iri tape and ringdrawing(the main thing that made survivors hate her) and buff her tv cooldowns. Perhaps make all her useless addons actually worth using.

I doubt the devs even read or care about any of these posts though. I saw so many well written and thought out feedback since the ptb. Feedback left by people who really understood and played her. Most of the feedback predicted exactly what would happened if it went live - newer players would get demolished and Sadako would struggle even more in top mmr.

Many Sadako mains spent HOURS writing the devs this amazing and constructive feedback but the devs didn’t respond to a single post. Not a single word. The lack of transparency from the devs is actually quite upsetting. Hell, they never even explained the reason why she got reworked in the first place. What was the reason behind Reikos Watch nerf btw?

I full heartedly believe the devs doesn’t really care about what any of us write on here unless it’s some game breaking bug. They only seem to make changes based on statistics and not actual player feedback from the people who have spent thousands of hours on a single character and probably understand them better than the devs do in practice.

I might be wrong about all this but how can I know when the devs are completely silent.

  • Yep, devs completely neglected the most important parts of the feedback from the people who actually loves and plays her.

This is a sad day for what used to be my favorite thing about this game. Sadako now has zero skill expression. She will absolutely demolish newer players and struggle even more in chase. One of the worst changes in dbd history, no doubt.

    RIP Sadako <3

  • I’m a killer main and I definitely dont agree with point 2. Doing a Flashlight save is not toxic. Or even chain blinding you like you explain. There is an extremely simple way to counter this watch youtube videos on this. It’s your fault if you fall for a flashlight save or a chain blind. Even when blinded it’s still pretty easy to track a survivor.

I love to get a full squad with flashlights. That means they’re not doing gens. Their altruism will most likely lose them the match.

People with flashlights usually just wanna have fun and go for sick saves, and they usually end up dead for it. Just watch the youtubers with the flashlights, half the time they die. No flashlights mean everyone is just on gens instead. There isn’t a more boring match than that

  • Absolutely ridiculous. I saw someone coming up with an interesting solution to the tp cooldown. How about a token based system like Blight? You get a set amount of tokens and the faster you use them, the slower they’ll recharge. I really like this idea

  • I pray to the entity these changes don’t make it to live servers. At the very least let her keep having decent map pressure. The 15sec cooldown on tp and nerf to Reikos Watch is absolutely ridiculous

  • I’m not completely against the direction they’re taking with her but some changes are absolutely terrible

    • 15 seconds cooldown on tp, a better solution would be a token based system where the cooldown is longer the more tokens you use at once
    • carrying a tape makes you immune to stavks unless getting hit. Denying sadako both her tp and condemnspread should have a drawback/risk to it. At the very least they should still gain stacks on a tp
    • Reikos Watch nerf. This add on was completely fine. I’m convinced the stats showed alot of people like to use it so the nerfed it(like they did with so many perks and addons recently that didn’t really needed it)
    • returning a tape can sometimes be up to -3.75 stacks. This is way too much and need to be a fixed amount. Especially since you no longer gain a stack from picking up tapes.

Fix these points and we’re in a much better place. The most important of these is the tp cooldown. If Sadako doesn’t have her map pressure then what does she have going for her? Can’t get stunned while demanifested isn’t making up for anything

  • I’d much rather have the old rank based matchmaking back. It was flawed but still way better than this.

Since when does escapes=skills in dbd. A better and easier solution would be judging players by the amount of bloodpoints they earn in a match (minus the escape points)

Thats a way better indicator on skill than escapes are.

I’d happily wait 4 times as long to find a game if it meant I would actually gwt teammates who knows the base mechanics of the game

  • So unfortunate, I won’t be playing Sadako until this get fixed. Plz bhvr

  • This has confused me quite a few times, hopefully they’ll adress this soon

It's not "just like cross progression", that's obviously something that is WAAAAAAY more complicated to program than changing the rarities of nodes on the bloodweb.

And it's also not "just like prestige rewards", the bloodweb rarity adjustment is a very specific, numerical change that is clearly defined versus a vague statement about maybe giving some sort of reward for having certain prestige levels. There's not a ton to really discuss on the rarities, they're already in the game the devs know they want to match those level 50 numbers. It's basically just a matter of typing it in and double checking it to make sure something didn't break.

I’m not sayong those were easy things to implement. My point is bhvr making announcements waaay before we’ll see them go live, if we even see them go live. It’s their priorities and lack ot transparency I have a problem with.

I genuinely hope you’re right about this and I’m wrong. But no matter how simple of a change it is, I doubt we’ll see it happening anytime soon. I’m aware of how pessimistic I come across but just don’t have any trust in them when it comes to to these kinda things.

I still absolutely love the game and will continue to play it

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3100697#Comment_3100697

It should happen before then, it's just numeric changes and they already announced it's in the pipeline.

Just like they announced cross progression was coming to switch in the fall... That was like 2 years ago

Or how they said people who prestige will be rewarded.. Took like 3 years and look at the rewards we got.

I have zero hope for their promises. If they make food on their word I’ll be happy happy as hell but I’ve learned the hard way that it’s best to not stay optimistic about their announcements.

Many killer mains claim survivors can't play without old DH, so they just need to learn how to loop properly (especally against Nurses and half the other killers with a build-in anti looping capability).

But to be honest, if you take a look on popular and skilled dbd killer streamers, they never had a problem with achieving a 4 k (or 3k + hatch escpae) in 90% of their matches before this update.

So why is there such a huge skill issue within the killer base, that apperently many killers can't win games without 125% movement speed after 25 seconds, forever-gens-builds and buffed camping and tunneling strategies?

I somewhat agree with you, the harsh nerfs to survivors and considerable buffs to killers is a bit overtuned.

But I need to point out that you’re literally comparing average players to streamers with thousands upon thousands of hours and are true professionals of the game.

They make their living on playing the game and the average player will not be nowhere near their level of skill or have the time to develop that kind of skill and experience

    Solo Queue is a problem

Solo Queue right now is the weakest side of the game atm, originally you had to deal with incompetent survivors who are either new, or misguided players who may think they know or who may not know what they are doing.  Now however, you have to deal with the recent killer buffs stacked on top of that.

Many people (including Dowsey and Scottjund) have recently posted videos stating the fact that solo queue survivor in the state it's in right now is the biggest problem in Dead by Daylight, Dowsey gave his idea of what kind of buffs solo queue should get in order to fix this problem, which are his own idea, not gonna go into it, but the main takeaway that I 100% agree with is that the only way to fix this problem is to provide the same level of cooperation that you would get with a discord swf, and bring it to the game.

What if I told you there’s a simple change that could fix all of these problems with one single added mechanic?

Well… it exists, and it’s probably what you’d expect.

The Best solution to the Problem

The solution to this problem is a voice-chat system

Don’t click away just yet! I know it sounds foreign adding vc to DBD, However if you consider the hidden benefits the game would receive from this implementation, you might be on board with the idea.

Adding a vc would not only fix the problem with solo Q, it might also add to the health of the game in general.

First of all, I just want to clarify that a vc like discord might be a bit overpowered for solo queue, I think the best solution to this is making a proximity chat instead.

    1. Think of how many times you’ve solo queued in dbd and come across a Claudette hiding in a bush, a David unhooking you when the killer is right next to you, or a Dwight who is completely clueless and doesn’t know what to do.

Not only would a proximity chat allow you to make the game more survivable, it would also help these new players get into the swing of things, and feel more comfortable playing the game, adding to the overall health of DBD.

    1. When a trapper has set a trap near your hooked body and the Nea coming to rescue you is on a direct course to step on the trap

In this situation, the only thing you need to do is warn the survivor that there is a trap, but you simply cannot.  Adding a proximity chat would help survivors learn to be more aware of killers power within the game, and avoid stepping into a trap that would more than likely put the game in jeopardy.

    1. Think of the times where you had a perk such as deliverance, or the “try to hook me build” (flip-flop, boil over, unbreakable), but the survivors you were playing with had no idea, so you try to use these perks against the killer, they try to unhook you when they could be doing a gen, they don’t body block for you because the hook seems too close. Ultimately, these perks become useless and get no value in many situations.

If you were able to just simply tell a survivor next to you, or while you’re on the hook, what build you are running, not only would new survivors be able to learn about different perks in the game and what they do, it would allow for a plethora of coordination where originally it would be absent.  Also the argument that you could tell people before the game is kind of dumb, as there are so many inconsistent variables, such as, they may be a console player, or they are afk and not looking at the screen.

    The Immersion

One problem with a vc that some people may have, is that it might ruin the “horror” aspect of the game, but here's the thing, players can choose to turn it off if they wish to experience the horror. The thing you also have to remember is that most of the time, people don’t want to deal with new players who don’t know what they’re doing, or players who are misguided or don’t know something, with this proximity chat, people can CHOOSE themselves if they want to keep dealing with infuriating clueless survivors, or not.

Also can we just be real for a sec and admit that no one who plays this game on the regular is ever immersed? Like EVER?

    Yea… no

    Toxicity

If you play survivor you might tend to think that a prox chat would increase toxicity within games, I however, completely disagree and believe it would help reduce toxicity within games. Please read below to see what I mean.

First to clarify I want this to be addressed to a average survivor, you know the people who might be really good and nice survivors in one match, but also salty and toxic in another (you know, normal humans), as this is the majority of players in dbd. What you shouldn't do is compare what I'm about to say to players who are ALWAYS toxic and no matter what will always be unhappy and pissed off because they suck. On to my point.

First of all, I want to say that if a prox chat was added, a lot of people would already stop being toxic, because if you think about it, more people are comfortable talking ######### through line of text, rather than through actual word of mouth, with the addition of a prox chat, many people will be kinder to others purely because that's how people work socially.

Second and lastly, I want to address what causes toxicity in DBD, this toxicity imo is a lack of communication, in the game right now, when you have a couple teammates who are kind of bad and are a little lost on what to do, you have to deal with it. This alone causes infuriating games to play, and is what I believe to be the main cause of toxicity atm. Adding a vc would COMPLETELY change everything, because once survivors gain the ability to effectively communicate, they can get out what they need to say in the moment to tell survivors what to do, rather than having to bottle it up, watch the survivor go down, and add it the pile of rage they plan on unleashing at endgame chat.

    Conclusion

I believe that many people are not for this change because it feels foreign to add something like to this to a game of dbd where the concept of a vc was never discussed, mostly because it was never needed. But now I'd like to say IT IS needed, and people need to start talking about implementing it. Dowsey gave his ideas about implementing a system that floods the screen with a bunch of text bubbles and hud changes, let me tell you, adding a vc is way more simple and way WAY more effective. It teaches new players how to play the game, some perks that were once useless on solo q will now have a purpose, and IMO will help reduce toxicity in games.

    P.S.

Many of my friends who play on console played this game one time, they said it was fun and liked playing it, so I asked them, “Why don’t you keep playing it?”, the answer is always something along the lines of “oh, there's no way to talk to people” I truly believe that if players were able to talk to each other it would bring a surplus of new and interested players into the game.

Please comment below whether you agree or disagree with a proximity chat, I would love to hear different opinions on this and see if this idea can go anywhere.

Have even seen how bad survivors treat each other in end game chat? If they game had voice chat I’d mute 100% percent of the time.

Just play Pig and block a box. With certain addons you will guaranteed 1-2k every single match.

Afk pig doesn’t work anymore since they added one more box to her. If you go block a box the whole game now you’ll lose

  • @Adaez said:

Its because survivors have lost their edge and are no longer the power role, which was the case since the beginning of the game until the latest update.

They cant bully the killers anymore like they used to with perks like dead hard,ds,iron will, and removing all the scare factor from stealth killers by just using spinechill.

Survivors are not used to be punished so heavily for their mistakes like killers are.

Who would have thought that survivors that just wanna bully killers dont actually want the game to be balanced for both sides.

Now playing survivor feels like you actually have a reason to be scared of the killer and if you wanna survive, you and your team has to play just as good as the killer and outplay them.

The game wasn't supposed to feel easy for 1 side and hard for the other and now survivors know how playing killer felt for so long, actually having to play better than your opponent if you wanna win.

New Spinechill nerfed stealth killers even more

  • @Seanzu said:

So the first ever match after the patch I think it was like a whole 10 seconds of loading screen to get into the game.

And since then a lot of my matches have been the same, did anyone else notice this or?

Yes but you get matched with players who are brand new to the game even if you have thousands of hours

  • @Murgleïs said:

The hard truth : you were boosted by your perks. You did not belong in the MMR you were.

Don’t worry, your MMR will adjust and you will face killers at your level of skill.

Mmr isn’t based on skill so your argument falls short

Do you mean Franklin's? Fire up doesn't do anything for flashlights

Fire Up is great against flashlight because mid/late game you pick up survivors way faster which more often than not cause them to mess up their timing. Try it out, it really works

  • @Lecruidant said:

Stop being a monkey and switch to it last second. I keep watching ya'll load in with it then you go for the save and surprise pikachu face when the killer isn't effected because they had a brain enough to put Lightborn on. Use your heads more. We have loadouts for a reason

Lightborn feels nice but as soon as they realize they’ll just crank gens instead. Imo it’s better to have them follow you around and you’re basically chasing 2 people at once, they’re not that hard to counter. I rather use fire up for flashlights because it gives so much more value on other things too

  • @FriendlyKiller said:

I played killer all day yesterday to try out the perk changes and new game play mechanics. It is much less stressful not having to deal with dead hard on every survivor every chase. Won some, lost some, tried out some goofy builds now that I have nearly every perk t3 on every killer. Which by the way I wouldn't have dared try in the former meta. So okay, good there, switched over to see how the other side is living.

    Survivors are literally throwing.

I don't know if this is like some form of protest because dead hard got nerfed or an attempt to artificially inflate the kill rates so killer buffs get reverted but NO ONE is even trying to do gens. Every time I chase for a bit and eventually get hooked I see survivors jumping in and out of lockers or clustered around the hook.

    Guys what happened?

We couldn't keep you off gens before you wouldn't even do totems now no survivor is even trying I did two gens last game solo we got 4k'ed with 3 gens left. It's like the Spirit DC protest all over again.

    DO THE GENS

I feel like matchmaking got even worse with this update. I get decent teammates like once every 20 games and the other games I get survivors with around 100 hours in the game (I’m around 2K).

Many of them barely have any perks and are literally too scared to do gens or even go for the unhook, then they’ll dc or kill them selves as soon as they get downed or hooked.

I believe this is the main reason people are struggling with this patch and not the actual changes they implemented.

Another thing is that as long as mmr is based on escapes/kills there will never be a solid matchmaking. I would much rather have the old ranked system.
