  • I've given up on these devs. I just play the game when friends want too.

  • Rank reset just happened. It's very easy to rank up as survivor in this game. Someone could have been carried to red ranks with a good swf. Rank doesn't reflect skill so much as time played during that month. Last, this game has no clear definition of what is good game play and what isn't. A killer might get 4k by face camping and think that's good. They aren't playing well they are getting newbie survivors who don't know what to do when that happens.

  • I want more survivors to be like you. Sooooo many people never ask "How am I suppose to get better?" Instead they say this is op and beg for nerfs.

As for the nurse mains. Since her rework her blinks are buggy and inconsistent. So that's where they went.

  • I was in a 3 man swf and we got games within 3-4 mins. Played like six games until a 4th friend got on. By then it took us +5 mins to find a match. After like four matches the que times broke on us. We were searching for like 20 mins and we just called it a night.

  • I never do spirit rituals because I suck at phasing. I also hate legion because it's easy to do but I know I'm going to lose that match.

  • This game puts a lot of importance on how fast you can make that first hook. Under ideal circumstances, at the start of a match

Killer is patrolling, 4 survivors on gens.

Killer is chasing someone, 3 survivors on gens. (This is usually where 3/5s of their objective gets complete)

Someone is on a hook, killer is patrolling, 1 person is going for the save, 2 people on a gen.

Killer is chasing someone, 1 person on a hook, 1 person going for the save, 1 person on a gen.

Literally the faster you hook someone and chase somebody else it goes from 3 people working on gens to 1. This is why the killers whose power helps them in chases are the meta.

Did you read my post? Killers don't do it to win games, they do it to be toxic and ruin them which was the exact case in this one. One dude brought a yellow flashlight with no addons so the killer basement camped the whole game. The thing is, it's dumb saying just let someone die, that isn't fun at all, there really should be some viable counterplay to the basement. It should guarantee a killer a kill, saying leave someone is all well and good but the fact that it gives them a free kill to begin with is bollocks

Counter play to the basement. How about do go near it when your being chased? If I know where the basement is I don't loop the killer near it. Especially if it's bubba. The basement is a death sentence with him. The basement is suppose to be dangerous.

  • Overwatch is no where near as toxic as dbd. When I find someone being toxic on Overwatch I type in "As whiny as the dbd community" and most people in the room say "Yeah, dbd is pretty bad".

Camping is a strategy. It isn't a good or fun strat, but it does exist. He won because you made a very foolish mistake. If you had simply left your teammate and taken the win, he would de-pipped and it would have shown him that camping is not a viable strategy. However, since you and your team went in after your teammate, he likely pipped and believes that camping IS a good strategy.

It is unfortunate, but the best thing to do is let them have their one kill. They will de-pip. The game punishes a Killer by taking away Emblem points, which count towards ranking up, whenever the Killer is next to a hooked Survivor for over 16 seconds (assuming there isn't another Survivor within that range.)

Anti-camping strats were tested but they were...abused, shall we say.

This. The problem isn't killers are camping. It's that survivors keep falling for it. If more people learned to leave that person on the hook and do gens it would solve the problem. Those killers won't progress, they get the idea this isn't working and they will try something else. However survivors fail to punish campers and they end up feeding more hooks to the killer. Thus the killer continues playing this way because it's working for them.

  • I don't think "gone" is the right word. More like the MMR is taking a sick day. It will be back eventually :P

That's exactly what they should have done in the first place - let it rank us, then push it live for matchmaking. Awesome.

I thought they did just that. It was running in the background for like a month. I guess it wasn't enough data.

What did happen Evolve? I had heard of that but never played, didn't know they even had a sequel.

Evolve came out and it was fun but broken. It was literally FULL of microtransactions. As AngryJoe said "Is this blue? #########. YOUR CHARGING ME 2 DOLLARS FOR A !$#&ING BLUE GUN!!!" It looked more like a mobile game. They made a deal with the console owners that they could only patch the game every 4 months. So if there was a bug or an exploit you can bet it's going to be in there for a long time. The MM was worse than DbD's. You could be brand new and get matched against a monster whose on a 30+ win streak. People see that and dc and replaced with brain dead bots. In that game the 4 hunters literally had to work together to even stand a chance. If one got dropped it was a domino effect from there. That game was not meant for solo unless you were a monster and your que times were 20 mins. If you didnt have friends you didnt play solo because 1 random can screw up everything. Not like in dbd........okay randoms suck but in evolve if 1 person screwed up you ALL died. There was no recovery, hatch, 2nd chance perks. You either crushed the opponent or they crushed you. Very few matches that were close. Most games I could tell a some point in the match where the match was lost.

The game flopped and a few years later they released evolve stage 2. It was more like an overhaul of the first game than a sequel. It had a revamped perk system, new abilities, balances, every unlock-able could be purchased with in game currency and it was free to play on steam. It was great for a few months. Then they stopped balancing them game and started cranking out "new" characters. Which honestly were just characters with a different skin and slightly different abilities but mostly the same as the originals. Less thought into balancing the game and more crap to try to sell us in the store. People stopped playing because it wasn't balanced then 2K pulled the plug. Would have been nice if they at least left it up and running. If it was id still go back and play it with some friends.

  • Asymmetrical games tend to be very very difficult to balance. The 4 must be weaker because they have the advantage of numbers. The one must be stronger than the other 4 otherwise you will just get bullied. Look what happened to Evolve and Evolve Stage 2.

  • If I mori someone there's only 3 reasons.

    Someone brought a key

    I had a ritual/daily

I brought DH and the survivors were foolish enough to let me get 5 stacks

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/180422/complaining-about-bt-makes-no-sense

Being within 32 meters of the hook is not camping. BT can be used aggressively against the killer when it is, at its core design, a defensive perk. I actually don't think you understand what camping is, I suggest you watch this video to get further perspective on what camping, or tunneling means.

    https://youtu.be/DnvO825G5Sk

This video explains a lot of the situations in dbd. Most arguments can be shut down if people saw the other sides perspective. When I hook someone and leave. If I don't find anyone by the time the save was made I go back to the hook because it's the only information I got at the moment. If I don't see the rescuer but I see a blood trail, guess what, I'm going after the injured person because that's the only person I see. I can't just leave them alone because that's detrimental to my objective. Vice Versa, if I'm injured and a healthy survivor is healing me. If the killer see's us both it's the best course of action to go after me. I know it, he knows it, yet the community has this idea that if your pulled off the hook the killer shouldn't hit you for 60 seconds. Hardly anyone on this game asks "In that moment wouldn't I have done the same?"

Then you get those entitled mains who say "No, I would have followed the survivors rule book for killers and never ever hurt a survivor!"

  • It's like any game really. You learn things as you go and get more efficient. Streamers can give you some advice but they started out the same. Play enough and you eventually figure things out.

  • I don't have an issue with BT anymore because I remember the days when it applied to both. There was no hook trading back then. The only time I hate BT is when I hook survivor A. I leave. I down and hook survivor B. Survivor A saves survivor B right in my face. I suspect BT so I go after A. Survivor A jumps in a locker. I'm sure you can guess what happens next -.-

Or you know people that actually understand how they aren't op.

Explain to me how 4 DS, Adrens, BTs and Unbreakables is not OP? Without saying "Oh, what are the odds of you running into that?"

Considering it's already happened to me id say the odds are pretty damn good :P

  • The only people who don't complain about 2nd chance perks are the ones using them every single match.

  • @slunder said:

    @EvilJoshy

For the number 2, you are mentioning a very situational thing, like it only applies 2% of the time.

For the number 3, t-bagging can be a strategy used to get the attention of the killer.

For the number 6, you basically seem to think that every killer is fine... But I am not sure

For the number 7, do not forget hitboxes that took years to get fixed and are still bugged sometimes.

    1) its not 2%. I dont know where you get that number but I see some combination of DS and adren and bt and unbreakable almost every game.

    3) It could be used for that but when the killer kills you, you can't say you weren't asking for it :P

    6) I dont know how you got the impression I think every killer is fine. I meant many killers have a difficult time against good survivors. That's why you see so many spirits, freddys ect. How many clowns do you see at r1? How many pigs? How many Trappers?

    7) Hit boxes are still whacky around vaults. How long were flash lights OP? It took Kote getting his ass handed to him for them to realize that. Pallet vacuums. Infinites. The nurse fatigue bug took a month to fix. fat shame spots.

  • I'm fine with exhaustion perks. I remember when they used to recover while running. They buy a little time but not too much. DH can be baited. Some killers have ways of denying survivors their exhaustion perks. Like huntress add ons that cause exhaustion.

Adren is kinda crutch. Other times it may not even come into play but when it does it really sucks.

DS IS a crutch. No doubt about it. There is no REAL effective counter to it. For you survivor mains who say don't tunnel, just shut up. Survivors with DS active tend to run towards the killer because they are safe. Even if I don't tunnel I eat a DS because they came to me. Then they get pissed when I commit to the chase and finish them off.

BT is fine. It's more for your teammates sake than your own. I also remember when it applied to both people when someone was unhooked. That was broken. Some killers can also work around it like stealth killers or someone affected by deathbound.

  • 98% of the time I get hit by DS is not because I tunneled someone. I usually eat a DS when someone who I hooked comes to me BECAUSE they have DS. Too many times I hook survivor A and I leave. I down survivor B and then survivor A makes a save before I even get to walk away because they have 60 seconds of immunity. Then I get called a camper and a tunneler because they came to me.

  • 1) I voted C. Keys are stronger than moris because even if you kill the person who has it, someone else can pick it up. Unless your running franklins there is always a possibility that key will come back to bite you in the ass. The only mori I approve of is 5 stacks of Devour Hope because the killer had to work for that.

    2) NOED is fine and has plenty of counters. DS is not fine and has too much power when 4 people run it combined with other 2nd chance perks.

    3) Teabagging is being a dick. There are legitimate reasons why camping will benefit the killer. It's not just face camping. If I know the team is being over altruism or I saw someone behind a tree while I was moving to the hook, I'm going to stick around. The devs have even stated camping is not a cheat. NO ONE has said tea bagging is bad but no one said it's good either.

    4) Your question is wrong. The game is balanced around new survivors. Anyone who hasn't bought all the dlc is the target consumer.

    5) Personally I don't like either no matter the side. The only time I like Haddiesfield is when I am trapper. If I trap the roof vaults they literally can't disarm it without stepping in it.

    6) The answer is B. Many killers struggle against competent survivors. It's pretty common knowledge to everyone whose played killer at red ranks.

    7) Bugs usually happen for both sides but I suspect survivor bugs take priority. DS was bugged one time and it was patched within a week. Nurse had her rework almost a year ago and she still has bugs.

    8) It's hard to say honestly. I've seen a lot of sweaty swf groups but I have also seen some ######### killers. I guess because there's 4 survivors to every one killer,. it just feels like it leans towards survivor.

  • I wonder if this is BHVR's reaction to this post.

"Does FPS suck on consoles? Yes it does. Are we going to do anything about it, no"

    lol

  • Hate to say it but I think your going to be boycotting for a long long time. Cause most of these issues will probably never get fixed.

  • Is it worth it, no. I notice zero difference. The cosmetics are meh. The reason I p3 someone is I don't want to regret my decision later. I'm worried if I lvl a killer I like to 50 but don't prestege them. I just pour more points into them to unlock everything. Then one day I decide I want that bloody cosmetic. All those points I poured into them just dug me a deeper hole. That's why I p3 a character I like so I don't have to worry about that ever happening. Sometimes it gives me a reason to try new perks that aren't meta because there is no alternative. I never used Pharmacy until I preteged my David. It was the only perk I had to healing so I ran it. Now I really enjoy it. I still switch it out for IS these days but sometimes I'll put it on and farm green medkits. So some matches I don't have to bring a healing perk, I can just bring a medkit.

Billy, Nurse, Doc, Spirit are still strong. They are not in anyway weak.

Doc was weak before, his rework improved him. Which is what I said

Nurse got worse after her's. By worse I mean she isn't fun anymore. I used to like playing as her but now she is just frustrating and blinks are so inconsistent. I don't know much about Billy but in Otz latest killer tier video, he dropped him down to mid B tier.

It doesn’t need to necessarily be a total nerf. It’s healthy for the devs to revisit older killers and do a thorough review to see if anything is too strong, too weak, or completely redundant.

Given the devs track record. When they rework an already weak killer, they tend to get stronger. However when they try to mess with an already strong killer the opposite happens.

Billy is exactly the same now again what he was before and that overheat mechanic literally doesn't exist. Seems too many baby killers cried too loud and often.

I'm not a Billy main so I'm not familiar how his changes affected him but in Otz's latest killer tier video he knocked billy down to mid B tier. He went over why he put him there. Billy used to be S to High A tier in most peoples views. Either way it looks like a nerf to me.

Can you people stop saying that already? Matchmaking is broken, that's all. It shouldn't be possible for rank 20 to fall into a group of red ranks.

I have to agree. In theory the MMR should get better but there's still the issue of que times. If a group has been waiting long enough the MM forgets about rank/fairness and tosses the first person available.

Also in regards to the first part of your statement, I'd rather killers be fun to face than braindead bots. Old basekit nurse and Billy, Huntress with a functional Internet connection, wraith, trapper; they were all absolutely amazing to face. Spirit however, the issue isn't that she's strong; strong killers are needed. The issue is that she's just boring.

Nurse is very boring and frustrating since her rework. I dont miss 4x blink nurse but I miss it when my blinks were consistent. I love playing as trapper but so many things counter him hard. Headsets being the top.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    Fingers crossed its the spirit.

Most likely it's the huntress due to needing her add-ons brought up to the current standard.

Given the trend of add on reworks by current standard I think you mean "Useless" :P

  • I was waiting for the "whose next" thread on the survivors hit list. Will you guys not be satisfied until all killers are brain dead bots?

As for the topic at hand. If I had to guess it's probably going to be spirit, huntress or Freddy.

Sounds fair at a first glance, but, what if they all escape on their last hook? what if i had an insanely long game but they brought a key and 3 escaped through hatch? These things make it harder for me to tell if i lost or what

That's the reason why rank is considered meaningless. If your using Billy or bubba. Killers with a built in one shot. You will be winning chases very fast but because you have a one shot the game thinks your not landing enough hits. So even though you are downing people very quick your not causing enough brutality so one category rises while the other falls. Then you got killers like Legion and Doc who have a super easy time building deviousness from using their powers. But they struggle to secure those kills during chases so their sacrifice category goes down.

Some games as trapper if I put someone in the basement and trap the place. All 4 of them ended up in the basement due to over altruism and stupidity. 4k yet the game didn't even give me a safety pip because I rarely got to chase anybody, didn't need to hit them because they stepped in traps, only hooked everyone once. That's why the emblems aren't very good at telling you if you played well or not.

  • Did you get a 14 day cd?

If no then it's safe to say it didn't happen :P

  • Maps never bothered me as trapper because they are hardly used. Headsets on the other hand do but you can't tell if they have them or stop them from using them.

  • I want the Ashy Slashy puppet to be a killer :P

the devs have to man up and stop being obedient to the survivors reaction to balancing actions in the game, i mean there are so many ridiculous things on why DS needs a rework one of em is as u said, unhooking right in front of the killers face with no worries.

The problem is survivor makes up 4/5s of their player basis.

I remember the heat the devs took when they added the exhaustion mechanic. Being able to recover SB while sprinting was bullshit and there were still a good amount of survivors saying "The game is dead!!!!" Or my favorite. The people who got upset when they fixed MoM.

  • I actually like the save unhook requirement. It would stop people from unhooking right in the killers face with BT and DS but I can picture a ton of survivor mains getting butt hurt at the idea.

Bruh i just hit rank 2 last night an been playing without the meta perks or a swf. 🤦 Ds isn't hard to counter you just spend too much time chasing. I've been playing since console release. Thats more then enough to know about the game. I mained doctor when he was nothing and now he top tier. You just crying to much, and can't counter ds. You won't win every game bub, this game isn't meant to be played 24/7 either bub. The devs even said to go outside an play or do something besides sit on the game all day. Cry harder

I stopped taking you seriously when you said Doctor is top tier.

  • I'm sure as you play more the MMR gets more data to work with. Then it will start putting you against higher skilled survivors. At least that's normally how it works on paper. I still have a feeling if survivors are in que long enough, the game will forget fairness and toss the first killer available like it always does.

  • "Pretty good job so far"

When they said they were going to fix her add ons it was a rare moment for DBD. One of the few things both sides agreed on. 4x blink nurse was broken. Yet they had to take it one step further. This is why "rework" causes alarm among killers. Reworking weak killers is usually good but when they mess with a strong killer they tend to screw it up. Look at Nurse and Billy. Spirit and Huntress are probably next.

  • Most of the time I use wglf+bt for farming. IS for healing and an exhaustion perk. Could be DH, SB or Lithe. I dont like BL because every time I equip it I think the game sends me to shelter woods on purpose.

They said, they know which killer you played how much and will put you against easier survivors if you play one for the first time.

That's nice to hear but if survivors are waiting in que long enough. The game tends to give them the first available killer regardless if it's fair for them because majority overrules. If there aren't enough killers in reds range will the new MMR just repeat the same process the old system used? "I cant find anyone? I'll just grab the first killer I see. Who cares if he's rank 16"

  • If I pick a killer that I rarely play as will I still get matched against a red swf because they were in que for 10 mins? If a survivor team is waiting long enough does it throw rank out the window like the old system and just tosses inexperienced killers to the wolves?

The only power customers have over a company, is to "vote" with their pockets.

Usually I would have bought a lot more DBD stuff by now, as example. But I didn't because a former patch was wrong in my eyes and until everything is ok again - no money :).

I say that because there is no other way.

True but another issue is a veteran players vs a new player. With us they already got our money. If they attract a brand new player who hasn't bought all the killers/survivors yet. That's more money then selling us new content. So that's why this game is tailored for new people.

nurse and billy may have been "reworked" but so were freddy, doc + LF

I've noticed a pattern. If the devs rework a weak killer that killer gets better. However every time they rework an already strong killer, that killer gets weaker.

doc, freddy and LF needed a rework. Nurse+Billy were perfectly fine. They just needed to remove some of their add ons.
