  • 27th of August, so Tuesday next next week. Assuming everything goes as planned.

  • what if you could take some losses and find a more suitable MMR for youself?

  • I do agree the normal matches feel very slow and a lot more Killer-sided.
I may have played it too much, its like very addictive that mode.

  • its probably because being able to spin the killer as soon as its slow appearance animation starts would ruin it or that the tail would stick into the camera. Sadako and Vecna also is unable to be spun, until her appearance animation ends.

Could also just be they forgot to turn the non-spin function off. A simple oversight.

I would like to spin the Alien tho.

Or the tail really is the problem, make the tail pop the camera if it hits the camera. that would be funny.

2v8 will return in the future after some iteration. We'd like to do some fine tuning and polishing before we consider the possibility making it permanent.

I want a LARGE Lerys next time you release it, It will be insane, it will be crazy.

"The community"? I've seen this like..... Maybe twice since I started playing around the release of blight.

It's already reportable. It's already bannable. It's not with the suite of bugs that would surely accompany bespoke code required to tackle this thing that happens once every few hundred games.

    Seemingly correct.
I have also not seen this problem in like forever, however here we are back again, singing the same song again.
You could even argue the problem is so small the players who still do it deserve their punishment. I might agree.

I just want bHVR to build a solution that will plug that little hole in the Game Design, so we don't have to hear about it again.
And I think the humanity angle is probably the best motivation bHVR is ever going to get this side of the next controversy.

Thanks. Though it is weird that they state it on another website but fail to provide this info on this one.

Its not weird at all, its an old post, this policy is not they have talked about this all over.

Its been pretty clear from the start, don't keep other players blocked in or hold them hostage.
We all sign up to agree to that when we sign up to play and we are not allowed to break them even if the other side makes us mad.

  • For example, when I play against Plague as survivor, my team rushes to cleanse without them even being broken. When I play Plague, the survivors refuse to cleanse (what you are supposed to do). When I play Legion, survivors refuse to heal (what you are supposed to do), but when I face Legion, survivors heal like there is no tomorrow. Something is going on with MMR. I am clearly not skilled enough to face the survivor I face as killer and I am clearly more skilled than my teammates as survivor. No, I am not a god survivor or anything, but at least I know the bare minimum….

Your Survivor MMR is lower than the Survivors you face with your Killer MMR. Simple as.
That's not MMR being broken, its working as intended. Are you a bad Survivor?

Yes, in theory you can pick up an emp. But when you "destroy" his ability to tp, all he has to do is shoot a pod somewhat ahead of where you are going, and bam, you're back to square one again with no EMP.

If only you could change direction while he shutdown to look at cameras.

Then again, you are not supposed to run him forever, all chases come to an end.

Tunnellers target the last person hooked.

You can easily remember the last person you hooked.

Displaying hook states wouldn't be giving them any new information.

That is how some tunnel situations happen, but others where I lose the tunnel target these changes would help me easily reidentify the previous tunnel target. When I play I'm not targeting anyone specifically and I'm not trying to remember who got hooked, but If I can get the opportunity I will take it and its clear to me that putting a target on a person's name is going to incentivize me to go for them if I see them instead of just playing the game. Point being, there are more situations than plain old tunneling strategies were these changes could make the game worse for Survivor players.

  • Its true that Tunnelers already have a target in mind,
but knowing who would be the best target to tunnel would just make the problem worse, right?

  • You can pickup an EMP to destroy his ability to tp to you, your team-mates can even come in and do that to help.

You cant do that to Nurse who can TP even closer.

  • When it comes to the Dead by Daylight feedback forum, it's important to understand how the process works and why it’s pretty much immune to silly ideas or unproven claims. Sure, anyone can post their thoughts, but BHVR doesn’t just take everything at face value. They have a system for analyzing feedback that’s actually quite critical.

Here’s the deal: BHVR doesn’t just go by what’s popular on the forum. They dig into the data they have—things like player stats, game balance, and overall performance. So even if a bunch of new accounts popped up out of nowhere, all saying that the latest update to the Knight was the best thing since sliced cheese, it wouldn’t really matter. BHVR would still look at the actual numbers and see if those claims hold water.

Plus, it’s not just the devs who are critical—so is the community. We discuss these updates and ideas thoroughly, and it’s this kind of rational, logical discussion that BHVR actually pays attention to. If an idea can’t survive that kind of scrutiny, it’s not going to get very far, no matter how many people try to boost it.

So yeah, the system is designed to filter out the noise and focus on feedback that makes sense both logically and with the data. That’s why it doesn’t matter if 100 players make fresh accounts to push an idea—it won’t go anywhere if it doesn’t meet BHVR’s standards.

Took me less than a second on Google.
So there are different types of 'bodyblocking' that can happen in DBD, but its the ones that cause a 'game hostage' that is reportable.

  • Yeah, I have always thought Nemesis was kinda botched. A rework would be VERY MUCH welcome.

No bHVR this is not a Killer you can fix with changing addons or slight improvements, his gameplay is not great.

In the games he is not a character who walks behind you with his tentacle out ready to slab you with it so you can run away further. Hes a character that rushes you, slams you across the street and then comes running away to hit you so hard you vaporize.

And no, I'm not saying characters need to be LORE ACCURATE, I'm saying the gameplay really ought to reflect his games.

bHVR may have created a very good whip Killer, but that is not my nemesis, its a whip Killer.
and what is most sad about it is that I bet there are people who love playing Nemewhips so bHVR dares not change up the character or does not feel the need to improve on the work. idk why Capcom greenlit the gameplay, either bHVR/Capcom assumed the gameplay would not be Nemewhips, but it did and its really bad.

Plus, Obviously the Rocket Launcher needs to be a MORI.

To hear bHVR come out and say,
"We are looking into changing Nemesis to make his gameplay more like he is as the monster in RE3:Remake " would make me so happy and I could not wait to play a real Powerhouse Killer who slams and kills. Sadly I will have to just not play him until then.

  • Nah, SBMM is fine, sweatlords get to play with sweatlords and I play comfy and get other comfy gamers.
Why would I want it to change? I dont, and ill complain if it does.

  • All it takes is one Survivor to have a somewhat decent ability and then Killers get 4 of that Survivor in games.
There are reasons to not do it, however I still think Survivors OUGHT to have special abilities. Its a cool idea.

But I can see the bother in Game Designer's eyes when we ask for this.

  • I fixed this by adding "-dx11" to the Launch Settings for the Game on Steam. I hope this helps you out.

I unfortunately don't know how to help the consoles with this issue.

It could also mean a writing error to the NVIDIA Shader Chache
It should be relatively safe to fix, make sure the game is closed when you do this.
    Then go to %appdata% :\Users\"You"\AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion\DXCache
    (YOUR ADRESS MAY VARY)

Delete all the files that are not being used and in theory if your problem is a shader issue, then the game will ask your graphics card to make a new shader cache for you for Dead by Daylight and it will probably not bug out again. (probably)

Let me know if it helps anybody.

  • Please play Huntress blindfolded then.

  • It would be more healthy for the game if they removed all map offerings and made sure everyone got sent to a new map in rotation.

  • Its a good question, assuming you know the rules of the game,
what you do is learn what a good survivor does and then practise your loops.

    Three words, Observe, Determine, React.

    1. Always gather info to know where the Killer is.
    2. Make a determination with the info you have, then you have what you think the Killer is playing.
    3. React to the Killer's play.

    For Looping? I recommend https://www.youtube.com/%40Mr_TatorHead/videos

Yeah, but it takes time to master 100%.

  • EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION means the game don't have permission to read and write in memory.
Which it should have and since it does do that mostly on all PC without issue, the conclusion is something is causing error on yours.

    This is often an issue with a corrupted Windows file, therefore I would recommend performing these steps below;

    1. Go to your Windows search bar and type "cmd", right-click on Command Prompt and click Run as administrator
    2. Type "sfc/scannow" in the Command Prompt and press enter, wait for the verification process to complete
    3. Any files repaired in the process will be shown, once it is done, try playing the game again

After testing that I would ask you if you know all your Graphics Card Drivers is up to date, if not reinstall them and confirm.

  • I also miss the DbD Support forum, but only the most massive nerds had time review and respond in there, I miss Khaine. 😥

Since this achievement is 100% luck is nothing else, being at barely higher than adept really tells there is serious issue in the achievement, your reply literally shows how badly designed this achievement is

It's ridiculous to call it "fine" bruh

It does not show that at all, its ultimately subjective what your personal tastes are regarding achievements.
I think bHVR has been reasonable enough with the challenges they have given us, as both motivations to play the game and extra entertainment. I hope they add many more achievements like this and you can just not do them if you feel they are too hard or if they don't meet your personal tastes, right? I mean that is why I have not done the RE: Gate achievement for example.

To some degree, maybe, but when achievements heavily rely on RNG they become bad achievements.

According to steam, more people have have the Vecna Achievement than most adepts. And this is just after 2-3 months.

The Endurance would just be there to help out in case the Killer is 'humping' you, or camping. That way you can get some distance from them when they hit you, be a little bit faster and see their aura for a while to help in chase.

No thanks, cause then that will just encourage survivor to ready them being able to get up and then activate it before they are picked up to get the bonus.

  • @Tyler3 said:

I actually quite like your idea, but honestly (unpopular opinion), I think they should just do this: Basekit Unbreakable at least once per Trial and if you fully recover yourself, you get 20 seconds of endurance, 7% haste and see the Killer's Aura.

Killers moan about this kind of idea, saying basekit Unbreakable would be way too strong and unfair.

Really? More unfair than having to just lie on the floor for 4 minutes (240 seconds) straight? "BuT ThERe's sITuAtIOnS wHeRE wE hAVe tO sLUg!". No, there's not. There is never a situation where you absolutely 100% must slug instead of hooking.

    Just an idea. 😀

As a Killer I actually approve of this idea, the way I envision this is that Survivor can do this once or twice until they are hooked twice. Though i don't think Survivors need the endurance, haste and Killer aura.

  • I don't think it will be such a good solution to tunneling as you think it is. Most of the time tunneling happens for me:

    1. Is when a Survivor unhooks right next to me.
    2. I spot a Survivor running towards a hook and I follow.

I think he situation of removing the notification is only ever gonna be useful for survivors is the situation of me having left the hook and not found a new Survivor the chase. If I'm in that situation, I might as well return to the hook and interrupt healing. OR if I am personally invested in tunneling out a specific Survivor. OR if I am leaving and a Survivor does a unhook. Then that will be useful.

But I think this discussion is more about a wack-a-mole for tunneling,
Instead we should consider the main questions regarding that notification:

    1. Should the Survivors have the advantage on unhooking.
    2. Is it fair to the Killer to not alert them.
    3. Is Tunneling a legitimate strategy or response to Survivor strategy?
  • I think because its already been determined that Killers have plenty enough incentive to not camp:

    1. Its detrimental in many circumstances, except a few.
    2. its boring to the Killer.
    3. Camping at the wrong time, results in loss of game easily.

The most common reasons I have seen a Killer switch to Camping is:

    1. a Survivor is extremely obnoxious, and they make it personal.
    2. Survivors in general are detected out of position or save a hooked survivor too fast. (tunneling here)
    3. A Killer player just wants to inflict as much torment as possible.

Buffing Killer perks wont unsee a Survivor caught in poor positioning. It will just make it worse.

I think bHVR is making the right moves by giving Survivors 10 more seconds in hook phases, it will put extra pressure on Camping Strategies. But a much better effect would be if the Survivor Community could teach themselves to detect the strategies they do to enable Camping or Tunneling. It certainly would not solve Camping completely, but I think bHVR is pretty okay with there being things the Survivors can do that gives the Killer advantage. So a solution should come with both sides taking a critical eye to their playstyle.

  • Billy can literally be at any point in the map in SECONDS, I highly doubt Billy is underperforming in 2v8.

  • @HexHuntressThighs said:

Honestly I believe there should be a basekit unbreakable because there is genuinely no reason to slug for more than 20 seconds.

Accurate, and its a shame we cant seem to convince bHVR of this earlier.

  • idk, people have been asking for 2v8, it be kinda rude to ignore something so many wishes for to make something smaller and less.

  • The logic behind doing "classes" and "skills" is obviously to save the balance designer team an ENOURMOUS HEADACHE.

But the problem is this mode as it is there isn't what I asked for, when I ask for 2v8, im not saying 2v8 without perks or with survivor classes, I mean just 2v8. it remains to be seen if this version dawns on me, the 2v8 idea is solid, but im not a fan of what bHVR is doing to the idea atm, seems like more and something else than what I signed up for.

One of the problems I already see is the lack of build difference.
For instance the Survivor Class Escapist being annoying, because it gives Sprint Burst to all Survivors in 12m.

Which is basically saying you have added Sprint Burst to EVERY MATCH of 2v8 now, Sprint Burst is awful to play against and you fixed it by making other options, but now that you have less options its way more awful again.

So is it worth it to save the Balance Designers a a huge headache by creating this new system of less variety??? I think not.
and I think the game mode would be way better if they allowed freedom of perks and addons.

  • Chances are some files are corrupt, I would start with the deepest drivers first.
you may need to reinstall your chip driver as that could be corrupt if EAC is unable to use it correctly to inject itself everywhere.

Go to manufacturers website and download up to date drivers and the BIOS.

Full System maintenance is a Spain without the S. But when you do it right, you Computer purrs like a kitten.

  • What if.. Maps are supposed to be bad because if they were good maps then survivors would be able to loop the killer for too long.

Maybe maps need to be just good enough to cause a Survival situation.

  • Why are you playing multiplayer games if you connection goes on and off? You dont consider stopping?

  • How old is the disk you are installing on, Could it be dying?

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

I really do think you're overblowing it a bit. His cooldowns are annoying but he's still very capable.

You can still double chase, you just have to zone from slightly further away. The patrol length minimum isn't a big deal either, it still doesn't take that long to drop a guard.

I honestly dont want to play an annoying Killer, the Killer should be annoying atleast to survivors, not the the player playing him.

  • Its moments like these, where I as someone who is assured that the Devs are listening and preach that to others, have my doubts.

You should have responded atleast bHVR.

  • @Jean_Cobra said:

We told you that the Knight was going to be absolutely a pure garbage when it will be available on the current version after the ptb, because the bug to switch all the time your guard was a bug, and most of the completely lame bugs that harm the knight and guard AI have become "features", as will as the many shadow nerfs like the fact that survivors can now HEAR the sound of your power when you created a path towards them outside of a chase (among others), or we still need the 2 add-on you increased the distance of guard spotting and the increasing their speed during a patrol because the 2 effects has been divided , no one believed us.

You got what you deserved, now enjoy the Knot, the equivalent of what the frustration of playing twins was before their buff

The worse part is every time bHVR does not at least take our feedback into close account, its not bhvr who suffers, its us who gets to have a worse of Killer for like 6months until bHVR can scramble enough to see, what they did is a inferior Killer product.

We told them on the PTB forum and I did not see a single response to that critique.

I wish bHVR had a more indepth dialogue about the Killers with us on here.

  • You really don't have a lot of patience, if you cant wait 3 seconds or 30 seconds from quit ban.
You could just alt-tab and watch Youtube while you wait, or get up and stretch.

The DC penalty is not going to be removed. Bots are not there to help a person DC but to give some small help to those that are left behind in the trial. If you DC for any reason you are still ruining the game for the others left in the match and bots are just to help mitigate that a little.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2AAFH22FUT9S/image.png

And no, none of the above are okay or valid reasons to DC. If you are stuck in place in a trial due a bug, if you have an IRL emergency - those are valid reasons for which we have the "Leave Match" button. The first DC is kept short specifically for situations like that.

If you ready up in the lobby, you should be prepared to out the match to its conclusion.

    (here endeth my sermon)

Amen, if you could make people stop using hook suicide as a way to escape the way, then I think the system would be better.

I am very disappointed that the idea didn't even get a response back to us officially.
