Because the majority of other players is having a nice time with the SBMM System, you do know bHVR tracks what we think of the current MMR on EVERY Survey? I'm pretty sure bHVR is making sure its as great as can be.
EDIT: Just had an awful match vs a 20 000h Survivor, I think I saw all the pallets on the map-
-
Ill be honest, I have mained Chucky for the last 3 weeks.
I think hes a lil too easy to play, not that dislike that, but if Survivors dont have fun its not good at all.
I wonder what bHVR thinks of the stats.

I have never experienced this myself.

What do you mean with 1% screen time?
It means, of all the screen time in the game. How much of it will be used up on your proposed ideas?
Its actually just a question of costs vs. profit,
how much would it cost to make, vs how much does the game and community profit from this? -
I would like specific map variations to have different effects. Examples:
- Redwood Map with pouring rain and fog limiting vision
- Lerys Map with flooded basement, making stealth harder as running splashes.
- Ormond Map with a snow storm, limiting vision.
- Coldwind Farm, but with heatwave distortion limiting long range vision.
Look, Modifiers are cool, but they last not long and are not properly balanced.
If bHVR made new maps, with a special rule I think it would be fine as an addition to our collection of maps. -
Seems like a lot of work for something that will see less than 1% of screen time, would that really be worth the effort?
-
I think giving the Trapper a new Bigger trap would be helpful.
-
Idd be excatic to hear bHVR come out and say,
"We are retirering all Map Offerings, but we are introducing new Offerings that affect gameplay during trials." -
Its incredible that they could not find a way to make the Clones spawn any other way, so that nerfing clone carrying would not effect normal gameplay, but I guess not.
-
Its not okay to nerf or destroy one of the best perks for new Survivors to get into the game. Honestly, let them keep it.

You dont know what an apology looks like? or did you want explain to you why a Service Game Developer have a reputation and responsibilities to their customers? Do you know what Player Trust and Goodwill is? You are really sending mixed messages here.

I wasn't a fan of the first Lights Out already and while the candles are a slight improvement and I love that they replaced AFK crows with bats it's still not winning me over. Only put up with it until i finished the tome and now am eagerly awaiting the return of Chaos Shuffle. My favorite modifier of them all.
As survivor it's….. well. It is. A bit sad that most people decide to play stealth killers or Dredge just to be MORE stealth or make the game even darker. Which to me is admittedly a boring choice. The one fun game I had was against a Nemesis. Because you hear his STOMP STOMP STOMP in the dark and it feels like playing Resident Evil 2 all over again. Being chased by Mr. X and only hearing him stomping around but never truly knowing where he is or when he will show up. To me that anticipation is where horror can truly shine. But aside from that it was miserable. Didn't bother to pick any of the escape challenges for good reason.
As killer it's just too easy. The Dracula challenges were a bit harder since I'm not that great with him yet and I purposely opted to play wolf-only because I loved the mental image of the survivors seeing this red-eyed canine suddenly showing up from the shadows. The other challenges I obviously played as Wesker. There's nothing more fun to me than picking the killer with the biggest (ego) terror radius and taking that away. Which can make him look like a very angry survivor running at you when you're not paying full attention. So yeah. I went a bit for the memes as killer, but that was mostly because I know A LOT of the other killers are sweating buckets and barrel into their survivors that are just cheerfully raising their candles at each other to slug them all within the first thirty seconds of the game.
On a much more personal note I also must add that this mode literally hurts my eyes after playing it for more than a single round. Yes, it's Lights Out. Yes, it's meant to be dark. But holy shoot, it turns into a strain on the little eyeballs quickly and I don't enjoy experiencing physical pain while playing a video game. Hence the mode isn't for me. Did my challenges and moved on. Give me Chaos Shuffle!
I could not articulate this better myself, Well said.

DeadByDaylight-Win64-Shipping.exe!UnknownFunction could mean DbD is performing actions which your computer does not know how to handle. Which means you need to make sure your system is updated fully, please make sure you have reinstalled.
GPU Driver, CPU Driver and Motherboard Chipset Driver.

Being unable to see the Killer coming and unable to loop because you cant see where you are going makes this Modifier miserable to play as Survivor and Killer because there is literally no counterplay.
-
I want Moris to change if they need to. I just dont want anymore Bloodpoint offerings, they are incredibly boring.

The killer doesn't cause these disruptions, a petulant playerbase does. Skill merchant is not that egregious to play vs; there's a dozen killers less fun to play against. It's not inherently her fault or the fault of her design.
The real issue is the "skull merchant bad" meme. It's never going away. People have a very very hard time changing their minds and ideas have inertia.
I dont think you can prove or demonstrate this. Only bHVR can.

they can literally just change the capacity of the individual characters exactly how gta does. noone has that problem with people going passive mode. and sometimes the killer specifically targets a person not just because their easier. with lowered capacity so u can see thru them but still know they are there it would work perfectly.
I dont know how GTA does it, explain it.

I agree that it should have been added to the dev update.
On the other end, though, why even release this change now? If she's getting reworked, why are we messing with a power that will soon be irrelevant?
On the other end, though, why even release this change now? If she's getting reworked, why are we messing with a power that will soon be irrelevant?
Two points on this.
I dont speak for bHVR but I can think of a few reasons, the critique, pain-points and disruptions this Killer causes to the general game is so far out of control and disruptive to normal gameplay that something has to be done now.And the fact that the changes coming are relatively simplistic.
We can argue if it is right or wrong to gut a Killer like this but it seems clear to me that Skull Merchant MUST have severe problems.
I take that on faith because I trust bHVR to not be an irrational actor and that is why I try to read between lines. What kind of rationale would you look for to justify changes like this? She's got like 15% more killrate than others right?

i think straight up giving a bloodpoint multiplier for a thumbs up at the end of a game would be nice, like +50% bloodpoints for each thumbs' received
I cant wait for Survivors to withhold that bloodpoint multiplier and mention it to me every game.

Or they use it to just boost their friends.

Copied from (my post in) another nearly similar thread (with fixed spelling):
SM is better at 4 (legitimate) categories than the original/comparable Killers are.
Stealth - She has no audio cues with ~90% stealth uptime. Myers/Ghosty/Freddy/Onryo/Dredge all have sound cues, so why doesn't she? Add sound cues and she is fine in this department.
Hindered - Clown and Freddy slow 15% for ~3s, or 45% total hindered. She slows 10% for 6s, or 60% total hindered. Her hindered should be worse than theirs. Either halve the % or halve the duration and she is fine here, oh wait, that's a proposed nerf! Fix in progress.
Haste - MfT apparently was too powerful at 3%, and she gets it as well as up to more than double it. Revert MfT, or remove the Haste, oh wait, that's a proposed nerf! Fix in progress.
Traps (with the potential for damage) Auto-reset - Hag doesn't get this, and Trapper needs an Iridescent add-on to do this. Make the drones require an add-on, or physical reset, and she is fine in this department.
Bugs (the 5th illegitimate category)- Bugtech got fixed, but she still gets triple scans on a single scan. Fix this bug so that the 3s scan delay actually applies, and she is fine in this department.
The proposed nerfs only end up fixing half of her design flaws. Ideally she gets a stealth sound cue, and traps stop auto-resetting in the next update to actually make her fair.
This post is more talking about the transparency and how bHVR is conducting themselves. Not discussing the actual changes.
-
The SkullMerchant changes are supposedly to limit her paintpoints until a proper rework can be done, her statistics is a menace I imagine. This was not in the DevUpdate, it was answered on reddit comment section.
As always there are always reasons for the changes, but we rarely know why or the full picture.

I‘m not playing distortion. I only wanted to tell you what it does to aura reading prick rate and it is definitely a huge factor there. Also soloq will be even worse when your teammates go down even faster, BUT maybe they will improve now.
You know what would be funny 😄, when distortion users now use boon shadow step. I would laugh out so loud
I don't see how you can prove that the fear of distortion does anything to the aura reading pick rate, I certainly dont fear it.
I dont see why Killers should worry at all, the pickrate is about 33% according to nightlight which means there are other Survivors. -

they wouldnt be able to that's what i'm saying. they couldn't body block they couldnt do gens or cleanse or anything. just a heavy incentive to heal and by the time theyre done then it's still a pretty fair game one or two people on a gens and someone healing getting healed. gens still being done, time for a fun chase can still take place, and the person didnt immediately die 2 minutes into a (usually) 10 or 15 min game. ik my idea could work u just need to visualize it
They would still run around me, probably tbag as well. They would obscure my vision or try to bait out an attack from me.
Its really just a bad idea to begin with, its the Survivors responsibility to engage the Killer in chase or distance so they dont tunnel. -

Agree and disagree. You also benefited from people running it. The only thing stopping me from equipping many aura perks is distortion and it’s high pick rate. Now aura perks will be even more annoying.
I think that has to be the worst "benefit" someone suggested me, I assure you, you probably dont even have any impact on any of my games like ever, we probably never met in dbd. So unless your strategy is a major group of players which I don't see how that would make a difference anyway as one aura reading perk is more than enough, it would not even do a DROP positive or negative for me.
No aura perks wont be more annoying, cause people who use distortion to hide from it, wont force the Killer on us instead.
-
Im sure a lot of trolling survivors would love the complete 20 sec immunity to annoy the Killer, luckily bHVR wont do that.
-
Honestly Distortion has been a slap in the face of all players not running it themselves, you know what it means? it means the Killer will always target me instead of you cause all the aura perks they have will target me and I know damn well that while there might be some noble apples who use distortion and who take aggro, the rest of the distortion users are very much able to just let me get killed no questions asked.
The perk has to go.

I can assure you, as a Distortion user, in most cases I was the only one actually doing the objectives.
I guess you were the exception.
-
The fact that Distortion players hide the entire game and their team-mates die must be the reason why this has changed.
-
I honestly dont know how bHVR wants us to play this Killer anymore in a way that is satisfying and fun.
Its incredibly rare I EVER get a wounding from a Drone anyway and now they are nerfing it??? What am I doing wrong? -
If you removed it, then the Killer would be unable to contest it if they wanted, Are Killers not allowed to come back to hook now?
Perhaps Survivors should not unhook when Killer isn't occupied far enough away. There is so much macro gameplay that we would make impossible or way harder to execute if you do this.

Realistically the only time I have ever used map offerings as Killer is a) to practice ranged Killers on open maps, b) to play fun jumpscare stealth builds/Killers on indoor maps. That's it, that's all.
I'd gladly sacrifice both Scratch Mirror RPD Myers and using Ormond to get a map with good line of sight for Huntress if it meant that we could get rid of the ability to force people into maps that favor one side heavily over the other.
It FEELS like to me, the only reason why allow Map Offerings is that would be very hard to do map specific achievements.
Outside of that its just a source for discontent or attempting to screw over the other side by sending us to a map that bHVR has not got noted enough about to act. -
Map Offerings seems more like a Survivor tool than Killer tool, I have not used a Map Offering in Ages on Killer.
I think the game would be drastically improved by removing Map Offerings and instead make many different offerings that change the map in small fun ways. -
That feel when you do your civic duty in the fog! 👮♂️
-
Just tested it, its SO MUCH BETTER and SO MUCH EASIER TO HEAR IT NOW.
Good Job BHVR.

Not being able to do anything now is even less fun. I do not like ending chases extremely fast on either side and to immediately die or kill survivors in a chase
How am I supposed to make it harder? I’m not playing meta perks as killer or the best killers and I do not tunnel. I play what I find fun and swap many builds. Maps are already extremely easy as killer and instead of them making the few killers, who are actually bad better. They make every killer easy mode by making maps and their loops super easy.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3795445#Comment_3795445
Yes, but why do they only fix killer issues and no survivor issues and why did they make some of the loops even worse instead of just adding those line of sight blockers? The map wasn’t bad for killer before and one of the stronger killer maps.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3795460#Comment_3795460
This is such a stupid way to balance the game since the better killers will perform even better now, so you have even less chances and then also buffing most killers every update is not the smartest move in combination.
Having it super easy as killer isn‘t even fun and constant struggling as survivor at the same time…
Midwitch wasn‘t even a map where killers struggled and it was actually a map that was better for weaker killers.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3795605#Comment_3795605
Well hillbilly might not be able to use his power that well to travers, but it is still easier for him like for the other killers now.
There might be a lot of pallets, which are needed, because of the size and other stuff, but there is still not enough stuff for survivors and now even less.
So how exactly is this map better for survivors now? Loops are worse, (breakable walls are many gone which helped you to get a bit of distance, don‘t know wether or not most a re gone), the clutter slows down survivors massively and hinders them to prerun+to see the killer, so there is no improvement for survivors on a map that was already really good for killers.
It shows again how much the devs hand hold the killers.
The map wasn’t bad for killer before and one of the stronger killer maps.
The changes work both ways my friend.
-
Im playing right now, have you not updated your game to latest hotfix? because if you dont you cant be queue'ed with anyone.
-
And then some survivor unloads 5 Flashbangs on me in the last chase when Exit Gates are powered all due to 1 Perk.
I'd rather not mate.
-
I am not able to answer for bHVR why the map was changed, but lets critique the original.
- You could see 2/8 of all movements paths around the map unobstructed from one corner.
- From the same corner, you would be able to look down unobstructed half of all ways the Killer could come to you.
- Seeing the Killer down any hallway gives survivors a LONG headstart on a chase.
The new changes fixes that.
-
Honestly I think idd like to see bHVR embrace new modern horror IPs with a solid followings.
-FNAF
-AmongUS -
If you did that then it would tell you when the Killer is near or not, removing the need for players to actually orient themselves.
Do you really wish the game to be this sort of automatic gameplay instead of people making their own decisions? -
Are you kidding? I already fail every Gen I do this at, the perk is strong enough.
-
Frankly, I would enjoy such a Chapter, I hope they would Cast the same voice actors for their roles.
It would set this Chapter solidly in Stone.
-
I glad this post is getting so much response,
its pretty clear loads of people don't know when Dracula is using his Hellfire cause they cant hear it.No wonder Hellfire is so strong currently.
-
Given how much this perk is in the current meta I doubt it will get buffed.
If the perk was lacking perhaps you would have a point to change it, but without that I see no hope for a positive change to it. -

It dosen't prevent hackers to hack. But maybe having a mode like this, they wouldn't hack so much.
How about we can be hopeful and positive. Maybe we prevent some plp from starting to hack. And plp have fun in this game mode.
But in overall this would be interesting for everyone.
Would you try out this game mode if it were in game? That's what I also aim for.
What is your reason to believe a special mode for hackers would prevent people who would hack from not? like an example?
before bHVR invests time, effort and money into developing that mode. -
Wait by what way does this prevent hackers? Are we just gonna hope the hackers join this new mode instead? huh?
-
I think bHVR is waiting for the Rework they wanna give Myers, tho its a wonder why they didnt do anything earlier.
