  • It's not really something you can help. This isn't something you're doing to exploit stuff in the game, this is the game straight up giving you information without your input. This isn't wrong, it's not right, it's just there and it'll be nice if it's either fixed or they pretend it's an intended feature.

  • @betelgeuseyes I already said I'm not a streamer, and I've not actually advocated for allowing streamers the ability to ban people. I'm saying a particular brand of toxic people using information obtained outside the game to get an advantage, cheat, and harass people who are ultimately the foundation of the game's community need to be addressed.

  • Fact is, streamers in other games are recognized as important parts of the community - some are here, too, as Fog Whisperers - yet it's pretty exclusive to DbD that their input isn't listened to and they aren't protected. PUBG still bans stream snipers when they're caught. You can't really pretend this is something that can't be found out with evidence.

The adages of "don't fix what's not broken" and "if it works for others it works here" just don't apply to stream sniping with DbD - the game simply wouldn't exist as it does today without streaming, and the ability to stream it without delay is what sets it apart from similar asymmetrical horror.. you know, the games that fail to replace it or get relegated to Youtube.

I don't stream, and I'm not invested in streamers beyond recognizing that they are the reason the playerbase isn't dropping. BHVR needs to recognize that too.

I like @Dustin 's attitude, though. QoL is always preferred to harsher measures.

  • I mean, if you're talking about the killer UI the perk icon is lit when active and dark when inactive. What's hard about that?

  • They really ought to take reports on streamsniping. DbD kinda relies on streamers for exposure and continued interest, and BHVR is alienating a lot of them by failing to take care of their community in more ways than just that.

  • I'm down for the audio change, especially since the survivor side seems a bit broken, but these aren't the first animated weapons. I quite like the animations, too.

  • @hahmraro I said it would be visceral, not scary. I specifically said DbD isn't particularly scary in how it approaches things.

  • Bonus Idea: allow both a normal offering and a map offering as separate slots per player.

That way more people will play map offerings they want, and they would overall be more appealing in the bloodweb.

  • @Pulsar Mid-rank Survivors certainly can do gens and get out versus Judith's, but it's mid and low ranks who still don't usually have the map awareness to prevent Myers from feeding while they're on a gen. While I don't personally have issues playing against Judith's because I understand it, there's a weird bubble of survivors who lack the knowledge of what they're playing against. I've been in SWF with lower ranked friends and heard the heart attacks when people start blithering about "wait, how is he doing this?" or seen Myers stalking randos who seem blissfully unaware their tush is visible through the trees. On the one hand, teaching moments, on the other I'd rather some of the internal logic stay a little more consistent so that those teaching moments were more effective.

  • Slayer, you're deliberately misinterpreting what people are saying to pretend that your toxic playstyle is adequate.

You get more BP and emblems if you listen to our advice, rather than tunnel or camp.

  • The remake Nightmare is the Freddy we got, btw. The remakes are open for plundering.

Honestly, I liked elements of the newest Nightmare. It had the narrative depth of that awful Slenderman flick, but I liked the stylistic choices that made Freddy more malevolent than corny. The film did some dread and worldbuilding well, it just didn't have good characterization - only part I really hated was removing the ambiguity of whether Freddy was guilty. A lot of the remakes of classic horror seem afraid so afraid of making their own continuity that they take good ideas and kinda just let them hang there. Zombie's Halloween had good characterization, but lacked the balls to capitalize on it.

That all said, Halloween is an ongoing IP, with new sequels coming out next year. If we're gonna get new Myers looks, it's likely to be from that.

  • That would lead to most killers choosing Haddonfield and most Survivors choosing Gideon's. Both are perfectly adequate to play in, and frankly balanced, but each side feels at a disadvantage in those respective maps.

Coldwind, btw, has the highest survival rate, and despite Nurse/Billy/Spirit being the top tier it's Hag who has the most frequent 4ks. What people feel about balance and what the numbers actually dictate differ, so trying to glean the latter from the former is a bad idea.

  • I watch youtube or check these forums while I wait for games.

If you're waiting half an hour for a survivor game, though, that's weird. The killers are the ones with a high flow right now, not the survivors - check what server you're connected to.

  • I'm down for Rob Zombie's Myers mask. Guy's terrible at movies, but it would be funny.

  • BHVR runs the same basic concepts, sure. Their actual implementation is different, though.

What I'm worried about is the threat of a new trend in combination killers - Ghostface is Pig/Myers, New Nightmare is Hag/Clown. I do think that BHVR has stagnated a bit as far as actually new ability concepts, but their overall gameplay in even these mashups has been unique.

  • I'm not particularly fond LF's addons or base kit - he deserves more than four uniques, and more in general to set him apart from Hillbilly.

For a rework, I liked one I saw that would lower his terror radius to 24m, made his grunts more audible so he was a bit worse at camping, and gave him 6 Tantrum Tokens: these could be used to destroy undropped pallets or windows, leaving them unusable for the rest of the match - these could only be used 30 seconds after hooking someone, incentivizing less camping. New addons would give more tokens, more speed for destruction, or the ability to destroy chests or even a generator at the cost of 5 tokens.

  • Agreed with AshleyWB.

  • Pretty darn sure there's youtube videos of how to cheat in stuff that get updated after every patch, just like in every other game. Speed hacks, aura hacks, cosmetics (even the ones you pay for/Legacy), and items are hackable, and I saw a video recently of a killer using Bond. I don't really understand the mentality for DbD cheaters who post those things, but there you go.

That said, it really just sounds like an account that went dark for a couple resets, and there's some players (especially Youtubers) that deliberately derank.

  • Overall, I think in game toggleable tooltips would resolve most of these, rather than any need for adjusted scoring. While I don't think the scoring is perfect, and the emblems are very limiting in what they reward, I don't think these issues are best fixed by extra BP.

  • The exploit effect is that one can activate Sprint Burst without slowing down, though depending on survivor skill and latency a 99.9ed exhaustion can look exactly the same on a recording.

  • Pretty sure the shadow t-poses are expies of Freddy's new husks.

I do hope for Stranger Things, and there's whispers of a nautical/pirate themed thing coming.

  • Sounds to me like you'd rather try to denigrate people than have real support for your side.

There's definitely things that need fixing, things that can be reworked, and even the fun bits of the game can be worked on to try to make a balanced and fun game for both sides. Left Behind needs a buff/rework, NOED could use a rework even though it's fairer in higher ranks where people know what's going on, there's tweaks and QoL changes that could be made on plenty of maps and addons.

Just because something's balanced doesn't mean it can't be improved - this isn't the Buff/Nerf Feedback section, it's the Balance Feedback section. The idea is broader in scope.

  • If you're thinking Legion and Ghostface are OP, no, it's hard to believe you're 'well informed with how to juke and loop'. Both don't hit top tier for a reason: Legion has mobility and information but little followthrough, while Derpface is an M1 killer against competent survivors - loops invalidate his power's effect, while map awareness invalidates his power's proc. Even if you have been playing since the beginning like me, it seems you have some stuff to un/relearn.

  • Adrenaline, Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, InstaHeals, Skeleton Keys, near constant SWF giving twelve information perks in one - I'm sorry, what were we talking about?

Yes, I think the game is balanced. I even think NOED is balanced, though that may change with the totem changes coming. I agree with @Ember_Hunter though, the unpunished, unrepentant, and even praised toxicity in the community is what sucks. I'd be completely fine with banning everyone who's made a video titled some expy of "Lookit How Toxic I Is" - only half joking, people would really learn quick

It sounds like you're new. Learn the jukes, learn the loops, and understand that once you're in a chase the game is designed to have you get hit once at least, but survivors have many little tricks to capitalize on even small mistakes killers make. You're not going to get that Iridescent Unbroken consistently until you've learned the game and have a little luck on your side.

  • @doitagain_ @White_Owl Leatherface released without a map. He was supposed to be released with a map and Kate, but they cut development into his chapter so much that they only made four unique addons and released him alone. The *Faces don't get maps.

Clown borrowed Nurse's Realm, but has his own map with its own features, same as Plague is tacked onto Hag's Realm.

Again, I agree that an abandoned carnival would be great, but Clown's own backstory and release with a muted but still themed map means he wouldn't be associated. Maybe Chernobyl instead?

  • FNaF isn't a horror game, it's an anxiety game. It lacks the ability to create real dread - then again, so does DbD with its reliance on LOUD NOISES and jumpscares.

Personally, a fuzzy elephant coming at me with a spindly knife, intent on eating my fingers.. it's a bit more visceral than, say, Evan 'Trapper' MacMillan, esq. "Big Man have chopchop, much chop with chopchop" just isn't scary.

  • Your two versions are identical save for whether the killer is close or far, and even have the same typo - we go into trials, not trails. I wouldn't treat these as two different ideas, so my answer to both is that I really don't think an aura will do much other than stall the game for a second as survivors check whether to run or not: I'd rather they use other perks to be aware of killer location before approaching the hook.

My ideal buff for WGLF is to just combine it with We'll Make It. That's not a teachable, so removing it doesn't alter any survivor's base. Getting a heal buff makes it easier to proc a safe unhook. It may also reduce hook dives in general because people will want to heal a little rather than running to the hook to run away.

  • For every survivor to emblem up, they each need two unhooks. WGLF makes that a contest to deny other people if unhooking is the only method, but it's still a good method - combine it with We'll Make It or some other altruistic buff, so it's not just a person hogging pips

  • Billy already has a club. Billy's also already an M1 killer against good survivors.

You can already aim Anna's hatchets, it just takes some getting used to.

While I'm down for alternate abilities, now that there's a killer with threeish (Freddy with two at a time, taking the crowns from Amanda and Derpface with one and a half each), each of your suggestions is already in the game in effect.

Some tweaks to the bow idea would be nifty, though. Maybe make it pierce as well.

Trapper could come along with snares instead of bear traps, making running near walls and trees dangerous.

  • More/Bigger does not equal Better. I disagree entirely that this would be beneficial to the game.

That said, I'm amused that every killer has animations for getting out of bear traps, and if they ever made a Battle Royale version I'd like the killers to be able to attack each other.

  • The Clown didn't have a circus. His story is that he kept getting kicked out of circuses, hanging near them like a parasite without actually being on the playbill.

Father Campbell's Chapel is his map, released alongside Kate and Clown, whether you like it or not. The point is "the lonely caravan" is isolated and away from prying eyes, near the abandoned chapel, where he cares for Maurice who was burnt by the Entity.

I do want to see a carnival, but it's not actually something that fits with Kenny's story. He wanted to be part of circuses at the end, but wasn't allowed.

  • Pig main here.

    1) I'm down for a reduction on time if more generators are done, but I lean more towards five to ten seconds. What you're proposing is ridiculous, and lends itself pretty much only to tunnels.

    2) I don't think this is needed at all. Following people with traps is not the way to do things, and it suggests both camping and tunnels.

    3) The lack of actual RNG has been called out already.

    4) I have no issues with her crouch speed, and as is it lends itself to movement behaviours that can be optimized for unpredictable attacks. I'd be fine with the change too - at the very least Combat Straps should be base kit, and Pig should share the Reusable Cinch Straps addon.

    5) I disagree thoroughly. This will help your initial hit, but completely neuter the Pig's ability to dictate how loops go - the roar prior to the attack gets them thinking a little more instinctually, and so they're easier to fake out with a long, redirected lunge. Taking away the Pig's mindgame potential for a cheap hit is a net loss in fun.

  • 32000 base BP. More with perks, addons, and offerings that provide an extra percent after the match - that's 8000 BP per category. I average 40,000 without Barbecue, but I could definitely be getting more.

"I need to eliminate one fast in order not to fail" is, again, how one doesn't safely rank up.

You seem to have come here to get people to agree with you that tunneling is a good idea, and chief: you're just wrong.

  • Treatment Theatre, Gas Heaven, and Grim Pantry all have map elements that change when generators are done, as well. I think it would be good to have a tile per map that was capable of changing if a generator was activated within it.

The high school would be a good tie-in to Stranger Things, if we're really getting that.

The theme park is interesting as well.

  • Male 'Pigs' being a thing in Saw has no effect upon Amanda's canonicity in DbD. Her specific story, and the fact that she cheated in her games, is what attracted the Entity - Kramer and Hoffman wouldn't fit in the Lore of DbD, much less the established lore of the SAW chapter.

  • I really don't want to deal with people's harmonica/accordion macros and memes blasting through the speakers. Your petition is unwanted and unwarranted.

  • While I think the survivors need more variety in sound, sound is one of their most important resources for interacting with the world. I'd hate to miss a hex totem's crackle with the new totem spots because a Dwight won't shut up, and in general I don't see this being used for anything functional - the most likely people to communicate effectively are already swf.

  • "I ain't mad bro, just typing out paragraphs to prove I ain't mad bro"

This isn't a party, and you don't seem like you'd be fun at one, no one will care that you left.

  • Putting yourself in front of a locker, dropped pallet, or window can force a killer to perform actions other than picking you up too if the killer isn't savvy enough to turn around first.

  • Seeing the killer's aura, granting a bonus to altruistic actions or specifically healing, I do like the idea of small buffs.

My personal favourite is to combine it with We'll Make It, given that WMI is a neutral perk so it wouldn't detract from the teachable roster, and as things stand WGLF is often seen as a selfish perk choice - give that extra healing, and it's not so selfish.

  • Slayer, yes it does hurt. Tunneling hurts your emblems and points overall. So does soft or face camping - especially face camping. Learn to juggle: injure someone, then get someone on the hook, then start trading unhooks for a new person on the hook. SWF get overly altruistic, and it's useful to learn to capitalize on that. DS is also a thing: when a killer's most valuable resource is time, a stun hurts.

The only time it doesn't hurt you to be near a hooked survivor is when there's another survivor walking/running near the same hook.

  • I'm liking a lot of these.

    Couple notes:

    • Pretty sure what you describe is already how RBTs are designed.. kinda. What currently happens is that at the start of the match each survivor is assigned one of the jigsaw boxes - more than one survivor can have the same box. That box and only that box unlocks however many traps are placed on them.
    • I'd suggest Prayer Beads doesn't remove or delay phasing sounds, but reduces them by 80%. Less heart attack potential, but still incredibly valuable.
    • I'm actually fine with Adrenaline waking people up - it's something adrenaline does IRL.
    • In general, I'm not comfortable (even as a killer main) with most of your comments on exhaustion perks. They're more balanced than most people complain, and then there's comments like what you said about Sprint Burst - and I just disagree, it's right up there with Balanced Landing as two of the best mobility perks, and SB is more consistent, right up to both exploit and legit strats existing to save it for when its needed.
    • I really, really want Left Behind to get better.
    • I'd maybe add a debuff to your proposed Beast of Prey where aggressive action returns the red stain until it's triggered again.
    • I like this more nuanced Dying Light.
    • Haunted Ground might be a lil bit too powerful in the new form, if you ask me.
    • I appreciate the concepts behind the item changes, though I don't like the toolbox debuffs frankly. They seem a bit steep for something that will be less of a threat with the other changes made.
    • I'd also keep the ability to open the hatch after EGC for either Skeleton Key, to differentiate from Dull given that charges don't really matter to keys, or a reworked addon.
    • I'd suggest a much needed buff to Wake Up: it friggin wakes you up! I'd also suggest that it a. procs before other perks, and b. removes or heavily reduces exhaustion cooldown.

Overall, these ideas are pretty on point and balanced.

  • I do just fine with Pig on large maps, thank you. Just remember that information perks, like Discordance and BBQ are just as important as slowdown like Ruin or PGtW - Thrilling Tremors is an okay compromise between those two needs for Pig. Juggling well and knowing when to break off a chase makes those larger maps a lot more tolerable, too.

That said, I like the pallet changes coming, with fewer safe loops. Overall I hope chases are reduced with what's to come.

  • @martin27 I think you likely just get better killers/less insecure people playing killer, rather than any measure of my own skill being good :P

Lots of people on both sides DC, but per game you have the opportunity to see four survivors DC for every one chance of a killer DC.

  • Different hatchets for either weapon or body skins would make sense. It's a bit lame we can't see something new whizzing past our heads/at our prey.

  • @martin27 I make killers DC rather frequently, and I'm not exactly toxic. No flashlights, no teabags unless I'm partying with a farmer, people just seem to get sick of five minutes of pallet stuns.

  • It's also good for preventing someone from helping up a dying person - a weird number of people try that during chases.

Hiding the red stain and lit hex totems would be nifty.

  • Don't forget mangled addons, @se05239

Mid-chase, blindness isn't great. Having it on someone as long as there's a party hat, though...

In general, most killers have between two and ten useless addons. They really should rework that entire system, and have more clear instructions for addon order and stacking. It'd be nice for some updates to wording to reflect emblem changes, as well.

    @Heru_Ra_Ha here's deafness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0WVH61xWu4

  • Are you talking about samination? Or are you suggesting Filip Ivanovic do a cover of the song?

  • I'll just copy over my comment from when you made the other post on the same topic:

I mean, if you're good enough at looping, you can get your exhaustion back a few times in a chase. I got my sprint burst back four times in a three-gen chase [yesterday] by knowing when to rest. The guy DCed after he'd had enough pallet stuns while desperately trying to mori, but there you go.

Overall, I like the idea. Maybe a perk, though, giving 15/20/25% exhaustion reduction on a pallet stun.
