No, rather you just hear and see blood splashing while you see the dead hard animation. Ofc, the killer wouldn't get punished with weapon cleaning as if he hit someone. Instead the animation gets canceled of the killer so he can keep chasing as if he whiffed. It's a bit difficult to explain in words. If you watch the example from dark souls you would get the idea much better :)
-
Who cares? It has the lowest survival rate, you shouldn't be struggling to much. This map has basically a build in ruin, since finding gens seems to be very hard for survivors. Despite the fact that ruin insanely difficult to find without any perks or items to track totems.

I'd say it's definitely not working as intended since the devs are trying to improve it.
Thank you for the quote, helps to shut down everyone with his "as intended, git gud" claims, I will add this :)

It is working as intended currently. If the killer hits you before you dead hard, you go down. Even if you get the exhausted status effect. The server didn't receive your dead hard input before the killer hit you and that's why you sometimes see your exhaustion go away even though on your client you got exhausted.
This is now more noticeable because of dedicated servers because the latency between the killer and you has effectively been doubled.
As intended? Who says that? It's definently not as desired.

@GuapLz said:
It's not a dedicated server problem tho that's what people don't know, because console doesn't even have dedicated servers and the same thing happens on console, so explain that.
People need to stop saying it's because of the servers and maybe the devs can figure out why it's happening.
Well, before dedicated servers it wasn't happening to me, unless the killer had like 400 ping or hiccups in his connection. So the logical conclusion is: dedicated servers.

Again, you arent understanding it.
Thanks to people demanding dedicated servers without understanding what that brings everyone now has to deal with double latency when interacting with another player.
Your input of using DH needs to reach the Killer. That only happens after you send it to the server THEN the server sends it to the Killer. Dealing with both your ping and the Killers ping fir double the latency. You have to use DH a LOT sooner now or if you intend to dodge or bait an attack.
Back when it was P2P you could simply react to the Killer easy enough thanks to only a single ping. But we got what you all asked for in dedicated servers, even though people (like myself) warned you about this EXACT problem of double latency.
Both a case of git gud, and getting what you asked for.
Who is "you"? Lmao noone here has ever made a statement that he wanted dedicated servers, nice strawman bud. And no, it's not a matter of git gud. It's a matter of optimising the game and define priorities in ingame actions. If you can't accept it it's in you bud.

Not buggy, just bad timing and user error.
To keep using Souls games as an example, using DH is like attempting to parry someone.
In Souls you gotta predict them and account for latency or you'll tank a hit to the face to have your opponent land his attack during your parry frames. In DbD you gotta predict the Killer and account for latency to have his attack land during your i-frames. Both are the exact same thing. Both are small time windows, both depend on latency, and both can end badly if done poorly.
Git gud in other words. Like it or not, this entire thread boils down to user error in you not having proper timings to use DH or failing to build personal skill.
No, buggy.

In a Souls game you have proper combat and weapons used by idiots who just widely swing them in massive arches. It's online isn't exactly all that well made either with phantom hits/reach, status effects triggering without taking effect, and lag that can make you get back stabbed from the front.
Dead hard works exactly how it was built to be. A chance to dodge a hit while gaining a bit of distance. You just gotta relearn the timings.
The fact that you say "backstabed from the front" shows to me that you have 0 clue about how latency works in dark souls 1 and that you don't know how to counter it. Besides the fact that all the stuff you mentioned is absolutly non-relevant.
And no, it doesn't. Dead hard is buggy because of dedicated servers. It's was buggy before aswell but now it's worse.

Would probably look really wonky from the killer pov. You hit the survivor, they go down, you start wiping your blade and suddenly they get up, do a dash and you stop wiping your weapon.
I haven't played dark souls so I wouldn't know how it works (or looks aesthetically) so I'm just wondering how it might look and play like
In dark souls, if you attack your opponents and he succeeded dodging it (on his screen), you would only see the blood splashing and the sound cue of hitting someone. You would see that no actual damage was taken and attacks which would make you stagger (aka stun you) wouldn't apply their effect either. It would look like a normal dodge, just with blood splash.
How would I imagine this for DbD? Well the same: the survivor won't get downed, from the killers POV you would just get the blood splash but you would see that the hit didn't count since the survivor pressed dead hard and keeps running. To balance it out, the hit animation in such a scenario gets canceled so it would match the time of a whiffed attack

I've given up on solo survivor for a long while now. It can rot for all I care.
The issue is: if you can ONLY play survivor with your friends, it's just a matter of time till the survivor popularity dies out. Reason: not everyone is always online. So the choice of the player is either go and suffer solo Q or play killer. And someone like me, who enjoys both roles and switching them multiple times a day... I wouldnt enjoy playing killer all the time and I would eventually just turn off dbd and start playing other games.
-
Solos are not allowed to have fun. Solos need to be remain headless chickens, running in the darkness without any useful information.
Seriously, 4 men swf is the only way to have fun. Only 10% of my solo Q matches are not frustating (because of team mates), while in swf I have 99% of the time fun unless it's a facecamping Bubba on 5 gens.

Least remember things you say before acting like you don't know what someone is talking about. "Kid." Do us a favor, act your age by knowing what you said.

Uhm yeah, come to me when you provide the "insult" lol, bye kid.

1. You made the challenges and "boosted" your tier. I wounder how long it takes for the grindy part to get them last 23 tiers.

Idc about YOUR opinion. You are not the only person in this forum. Cheers.

I think the game is also starting to get bloated with too many killers/survivors/perks. We need new game mechanics rather than just new killers and perks.
This. I have the same feeling. It's slowly getting to much, one more year of 4 chapters and this game is overloaded. They really need to reduce this huge amount of DLC dropping, they should focus on new maps, rework maps, rework useless/to weak perks and finally introduce some new game modes.

Not gonna lie, I was really sad to hear there was no event.
Events in games, at least for me, kinda fill me with that holiday spirit, ya know?
Like it's all snowy outside, christmas movies are on repeat, you're drinking cocoa, and there is a winter event in your favorite game. That's the good stuff.
So no event really bummed me out. Feels like I got coal in my stocking :(
Yeah it's always a special feeling, the snow outside, being inside with cozy clothes, hot chocolate and playing a game with a winter event in it. Really sad, makes it very "dull" (if that's the correct term to describe it) :/

If it’s not too much don’t you think they would’ve done it? Jesus Christ even when they TELL you guys ahead of time there won’t be an event you allow yourself to be let down. Let them work
Adding some more options into the graphics settings (toggle for AA, motionblur, v_sync) isn't too much either. 3 years later, do you see them in the options? Nope. Took them over 2 years to even implement a different visual for flashlight blinds on killers side.
-
Its a toxic challenge, we all know that basement insidious Leatherface will be coming very often now. And I will simply refuse to unhook anyone in the basement cuz you can expect insidious every game. Gg, very well designed challenge

How do you know that? Would be really sad if they can't organise and find their own lines for specific events lol

Quote got deleted by a mod, therefore this comment doesn't make sense.

Yeah, but it does not have to be on first try. I mean, come one, no need to be finished with the Challenges after two days, once again.
You act as if these challenges are guaranteed to be done if you just keep trying. If you are very unlucky, you will NEVER finish that challenge. Simply because to many factors are not in your control. Your own skill doesn't matter. You can finish that challenge 1st try, after 100+ attempts or NEVER. No matter how good you are.

Those are also not too hard. Not done in the first Trial maybe, but nothing that is nearly impossible to do so.
This has nothing to do with difficulty in terms of skill. It's pure luck.

Aah that does sound better, a lot less abusable atleast
And for the same reason they dc to give the last survivor the hatch
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/930769#Comment_930769
While it's true the hitboxes have been wonky since the dedicated servers, for me that's still no reason to DC
People really need to learn to shrug things off, one bs hit does not mean the game is lost, if you get that tilted about small things like that then a time-out is exactly what you need
I never said it's a valid reason to DC. I just said that I don't blame them and I just made clear that there can be more behind a DC than just a salty loser who refused to git gud
-
@Sonzaishinai said:

Old Legion? As in moonwalking Legion who would almost always win a chase if they were patient enough?
Now i'm not saying that every single dc is because of sore losers
I can get that when things become a chore like 3 gen impossible skill check doc or forever freddy you want to dc because it's unfun
But the majority are because of ragequit reasons, and no amount of fixing the game will take that away
There are salty losers in every game, not just dbd. But you are wrong if you trying to say the majority of dc's is because of that. Its more because of unfun aspects of the game (those you mentioned and many others).
Sometimes when I verse survivors with TTV in their name and they dc watch the VOD to see why they rage quitted. To often it's because of bullshit hits, rubberbanding/bad connection etc and I don't blame them. Since dedicated servers the hitboxes are ridiculous and the rubberbanding is insane.

So your saying your fellow gamers should "get a better monitor" or "install a program" to do what is natively done in the game engine on which this game is based?
I couldn't care less about it being fair or not in this discussion. It's the fact that they left it out and programmed the game's hitboxes etc around NOT having one, when there was absolutely NOTHING they could do to stop people from just putting a little DOT on their monitor, turning it on on the monitor itself, or using another app.
You sir, are the ideal customer for a company like BHVR and why game developers get away with pretty much anything they want. So yeah, welcome to 2019 bud.
You nailed it. I hate those people, they are part of the reason we have this bullshit in the gaming industry.
-
@Sonzaishinai said:
Cause the term unfun is insanly loose
If the DC's are an indication it's unfun for a survivor to be outplayed in a chase, or found in the first minute of the game
The main reason people DC is cause they are losing
That's not true. People DCed against old Legion more than old spirit/nurse, while Legion wasn't even remotely close to win as consistent as Nurse/spirit.

More like just install the program or get a better monitor that has the option. DBD dont need to HD your hand. Neither is it a FPS game like CoD.
Welcome to 2019 where games like Dark Souls tell you to git gud n00b. We shouldn't have to hold your hand like a Mario game.
Imagine buying a NEW HIGH END MONITOR just to get a crosshair in a 20 bucks video game, while the devs could just add one in 5 minutes and some lines of codes.
Imagine using a 3rd party software and EAC flags you and you are banned.

Survivor red ranks are filled with tons of potatoes who don't belong there. Many are green ranks at best, but since it much easier to rank up + rank reset has no impact anymore it shouldn't matter to you (besides those who are real red ranks, but they are rare to encounter).

It's just the animation as far as I know. Devs should work on it a bit, not always clear to see if agitation is used or not
