  • This thread highlights the fact that hook counters alone prove beyond a doubt that once you know you hooked Bill twice, he is the most logical, strategic, and tactical person to chase next to kill.

They will tell you "tunneling" is a bad strategy, but a hook counter discussion proves that it is the correct thing to do, hence why devs will not give us individual survivor hook counts during match.

I would also like to know how many matches on each killer I play and some form of stats like time played per killer etc too there's no reason not to give us these things.

Depends on your definition of competitive. Do I attend tournaments? No. Do I want to win? Yes.

Exactly, like when did it become a bad thing to try and win in video games? LOL

  • 9 survivors p3ed, 12 killers p3ed.

    Still on tha grind

People can manipulate any system so I dont think that's a fair argument.

But my point was grades track everything you do, if we removed the reset, allowed you to loose grade again, removed the safety pip people should naturally fall into a bracket based on what they do instead of kills/escapes

the reset exists for another reason though. It is to keep you playing monthly, to keep up logins and steam charts. If people would reach red ranks and not have to do it again, many would play less = less hap[py devs.

Both the grind and rank reset exist to keep you playing.

im just curious as people always bring this up about the game being based for casual or competitive. and by competitive, i just mean you want to win, not literally comp

No one would play a game if it did not have win conditions.

Casual mode in this game is KYF, once you load into a public match, you are logging into online pvp.

People just refuse to admit the game already has two modes, one is casual the other is comp pvp. With points, emblems, and win conditions.

When I started the game I was casual too, but once you begin playing killer enough and reach high rank, you understand that this is PVP in the end. No matter how casual someone plays, it doesn't matter - you will get owned if you play like a casual as killer.

  • @SMitchell8 said:

The grades could last a little longer imo and now they're pretty worthless. Never played enough to reach red, but even if I did, what's the point if you can't maintain it.

Grades are not going away, they are simply not shown post-game.

You still see your grade and play for monthly BP rewards.

Could still have been a super cheese nurse build

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/IEBDW8WN2CQ8/unnamed.png

Probably the only killer who actually wants a Game offering. If they get unlucky it's 15 seconds of wallhacks + instadowns on a killer who can cover 80% of the map in one blink...and it's undying lmao

I have seen teams pretty much wiped out in the first ~20-30 seconds of a game starting with this build more than any other build in the game lol

I have downed all 4 survivors quickly with Bubba, sometimes they just swarm you and spawn together and its game over before a single gen is done. Most of the time one will DC though, especially the first to get chainsawwed.

I dont even have nurse at lvl 50 but most of my killers are p3ed, I dont play nurse

  • Right now there are live twitch streams with bots playing.

I am watching a survivor with instant CoH, instant heals, teleporting, endless flashlight, all perks.... can drop a pallet and pick it back up before killer even comes out of the stun, unlimited unbreakable, watched him Deadhard 5 times around shack until killer gave up and went afk.

  • So all 4 survivor get downed and somehow, it's the killers fault for playing better than the opponent.

    Amazing. stuff

  • @indieeden7 said:

Maybe now people will stop needlessly complaining about getting matched against 4 iri grade survivors as a silver grade killer.

    Uh where are those statistics?

The last that i can remember had pinhead at the top with 55%?

Is that way over? An average of 1 in 20 games more than 2 kills?

survivor mains make up stats all day long, even after devs post them and we know the truth.

  • @Piruluk said:

DbD's huge success was always thanks to the fact that playing survivor is so much fun, easy and casual friendly(+ licensed killers survivors/killers ).

The recent constant nerfs on survivor side since years is getting quite worrying. As you know there is a talk about gutting Dead Hard to be useless and 2 killer getting buffed, a map reworked to be killer sided( massive dead zones), Circle of Healing made useless for solo, and of course healing will also gets nerfed to take forever.

No new perk allowed to be meta for survivors. Example would be Boil over or parental guidance, or in the past lucky break rework nerfed into ground, all of them destroyed by killer main demands.

The only item worth is bringing now is medkit as survivor(thanks to toolbox nerfs, hatch nerf so keys are useless, flashlight only good for killers) the question is how long since soon even healing will be taken away to suit killer main demands.

The point is the game getting very hard for casuals and devs have to really think whatever is it worth to lose huge part of survivor playerbase.

    Oh no, 2 killer buffs????

Legion is getting a 5th hit down ability. THis gonna destroy the game!!

    The horror!

    LOL

I run end game builds sometimes because they can be fun. And sometimes those survivors don't even get to see that endgame build, which is the most weirdly satisfying yet disappointing feeling ever. It means the survivors all got killed by a killer with no active perks and a couple of addons.

This thread also really highlights the really big disconnect a lot of you have with some of these perks and their application. Everyone always assumes NOED = bad killer, bad play, which isn't always the case. But yeah, let's just keep thinking it means only one thing instead of acknowledging other factors that also result in certain perks being equipped. Like if I notice that games are going by really fast despite my best efforts, that's when I might run an endgame build and that will change my mood because I'm responding to reams rushing through matches. Or I enter a lobby and you can just smell the sweat and Boons about to happen, which means totems stay up. And what is the bad play in that situation btw? The people putting the same Boon up on the same totem over and and over or me knowing the best thing to do after a killer snuffs a totem is cleanse that totem and move the Boon somewhere else? Because it really doesn't feel like such a bad play at all when I'm basically reading a team at the lobby and take advantage of that very common mistake. But you probably don't see it that way.

This thread also highlights that survivors will complain killers are running the same ruin/tinker/undying builds all day, but the moment you find something funny to run like Blood Warden which hardly ever procs but can be super fun when it does, they call you "bad killer who can't get it done during the 5 gens."

Ummm, no, we just did that the last 10 matches and are running something fun before we call it a night. More like we just played a match with no perks until end-game. But oh no a killer is playing something off-meta, he must be bad he can';t win without Blood Warden! LOL

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2910506#Comment_2910506

Adrenaline is not really comparable to NOED imo. The only thing they have in common is that they share the same trigger condition.

Adrenaline rewards the survivors for successfully completing the majority of their objective, while NOED rewards the killer for failing to stop the gens. There's a big difference.

Perks are there to help each side achieve their goal. I run adrenaline on all my survs. I also think running a No Way Out, Blood Warden, Noed build for giggles produces some good fun. Much like Mad Grit. Besides that means all match the killer had no perks cept BBQ

    Forgive me for having fun.

  • @DriplordDrew said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2910534#Comment_2910534

legit one of the emblems is to prevent gens from being done so your right... oh wait no reward bad play cause you have an end game build cause you can't get it done during normal game. Adrenaline only comes into play when survivors are done their objective again these two perks are not the same. One is for trash and the other is for completing the objective. Gatekeeper emblem if you are interested in reading about how part of your job is to prevent gens from being done.

wait, I thought we were playing the game to have fun. Who cares about emblems man, run head on and blood warden,, its great.

  • @DriplordDrew said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2910506#Comment_2910506

NOED rewards a killer for not getting everyone dead before doing the gens which is their objective. After the last gen it become stopping them from leaving. Adrenaline rewards a survivor for getting all the gens done. They are not the same thing.

Killers job is to get people dead. When the gens are done has nothing to do with it. The game has end-game builds for a reason.

  • @Piruluk said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2910383#Comment_2910383

Then that perk will also get nerfed according to killer mains demands.

Killers have been complaining about Deadhard since it was introduced, and this thread is literally about how deadhard has not been nerfed.

    So your statement is false.

People like to promote the idea that if killers complain the devs nerf stuff, yeah ok. This thread proves they don't so run along with that old cliche its not true

  • When I mained Legion hardly ever got DC survivors.

Now that I am putting 500 hours into BUbba, all it takes is a good chainsaw around an obstacle or the shack and they DC after being downed.

  • @UnknownKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2883190#Comment_2883190

Confirmed you dont play on high ranks. If they dead hard to avoid damage you may catch him but if they use it for distance there is no counterplay.

While not every time, I most certainly chainsaw right through DH and get the down as Bubba. If they drop pallet, I chop that too.

no one is agreeing with you. you blamed killer mains for something that survivors got nerfed due to the reasons mentioned above.

You can project whatever you like onto me, I am replying to your posts and proved you wrong, so now you tell me to grow up when it is you who need to grow up and stop blaming the big bad "killer mains" everytime you get triggered by the devs.

  • @toastcrusher said:

######### are you claiming, i cry about moris? and killer looking like bafoons....with your attemped to make your point you show excactly what kind of killer you are....the 4k killer who players complain about....the one that realy gets upset when he doesn't get his 4k

go bother someone else, with the hatch out of the game it took away a fun aspect of the game and yes keys are usseles unless you want to hide in a corrner until your the last left with the perkleft behind that can find the hatch

    so much fun

Maybe you shouldn't blame killers everytime you get triggered by a dev change.

You sure do cry about killers a lot.

  • @toastcrusher said:

what ever bro....ive been playing long enough to see that killers get more done then survivors....or wait....solo survivors are just not good enough in hockey so that helped them out.

you literally stated you miss your "fun clips"

players like you cry about moris but want to see killers made to look like a bafoon using hatch and keys.

then you have the audacity to say "another thing killer mains ruined" like killers are to blame for survivor key abuse.

    run along.

  • @toastcrusher said:

and no mather how you look at it, it was funny when the hatch was still around, it sucked for a killer but it seems to me that most killers just tae this game way to serieus

you are only upset because your favorite YT juker can't make killer bafoon videos anymore with keys.

  • @toastcrusher said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2910143#Comment_2910143

euhmmmm i was there when killers complained daily about the hatch.....like they complain daily about CoH and DH now

Moris and keys were nerfed for the same reasons and the devs don't care what you complain about in the forums, people complain about things all the time, does not mean they nerfed them due to complaints

Killers complain about many things, don't cherry pick keys as if the devs did it because killers asked them to. LOL

  • @toastcrusher said:

nothing, another thing that killer mains destroyed.....the amount of fun clips that came out of the hatch was funny as hell.....but gone it is.

killer mains had NOTHING to do with keys getting nerfed.

like everything the devs test, survivors abuse them until they are forced to nerf them.

  • When we get old moris back you guys can have old keys back.

They were both unhealthy for the game.

He did a 50 win streak with the Clown and Legion as well (and yes, I know they both have their own m2 as well but they're essentially m1 killers to get downs). And streaks do matter because it shows that with enough skill, you can consistently perform well with a killer.

Again it doesn't make sense to ask me who does not main killer, what a killer should do in order to perform well. That isn't my strength in this game. But to claim a killer is unviable because you or I can't win consistently with them means nothing when there is someone out there who can

    This guy in a nutshell:

"All killers are viable. Anyone who can't 2k every match is just lacking skill. You can 3k with slightly sweating."

"Don't ask me about killer strategies, I don't play killer and it's not my specialty."

    LOL

  • @Shaped said:

Playing both sides often helps a lot to see some things, that is what I meant. People playing killer only can be biased as well, I understand that.

You still didn't answer my questions tho. How do m1 killers compete at top level, what makes them viable there? You said all killers are viable I just want to understand what makes you think that and see your own perspective on it since you didn't really explained much.

If you notice he avoids questions that seem to contradict what he said previously. Now he is referring you to me, instead of answering either one of our questions using his own quotes back at him.

  • There would be no survivor juke DBD vids on YT if they didn't smurf to get low rank killers. 🤣

  • @RakimSockem said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2909037#Comment_2909037

Getting 36 wins in a row shows viability. Getting 10 wins in a row shows viability. If you can consistently get wins like that with a character, they are viable. I don't know what point you're trying to make.

When did 50 straight wins become the standard of viability? You just told me he won 36. 30 + 6. Thirty six matched IN A ROW but the character somehow ISN'T viable because he didn't make it to 50? What are you on about?

Viable does not mean on equal standing with every other killer. I acknowledged in my original post and throughout this thread that killers are on different tiers and some killers are stronger than others AND I think that's OKAY. Being on different tiers is not equivalent to being unviable

I agree, 36 wins in a row is great and I am not knocking Otz, I even described his feat as "valiantly." However, what you said earlier was:

"I firmly believe every killer is EASILY capable of getting 2 kills in their sleep (not literally) and if being slightly sweaty, a 3k. Assuming they're played by a capable player."

So again if we go by what you said, killers should never lose and someone like Otz should have no problem, or maybe sweating slightly and easily get the 3k.

    The problem is,... he couldn't.

So is Otz unskilled now? I thought if he could do it we all could,...

  • @RakimSockem said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2909020#Comment_2909020

You say 36 wins in a row like that's a small feat. If you're winning more than 3 matches in a row, you're overperforming as far as I'm concerned. The fact that he can win that many matches in a row with a killer most people deem to be unviable means the killer isn't unviable. The players and the matchmaking system are.

And at what point did anyone use the term OP???? What I said was every killer DOES have different levels of strength and I'm okay with that and think it should stay that way. I don't want Myers and Blight to have the same map pressure. I don't want a Wraith to have the same hook pressure as a Hag does. They should all play at different levels based on their character design

I mentioned his Trickster because if we go by what you said, Otz should have no problem getting 50 wins in a row, considering he lowered win requirements. But he couldnt, he simply could not. Why? I thought Trickster was viable

You missed the point. If all killers are so viable, how come he could not do 50 wins with Trickster? If like you say, he should be able to get 3k by "slightly sweating" and those are your words.

  • It goes like this,...

"Otz can get 50 wins in a row with any killer you just suck"

But,... he couldn't do it with Trickster and needed noed to even get the 36 he fought valiantly for

Just watch how Otz goes from easy streak to can barely get 36 wins, but yeah all killers are super OP. LOL

  • Take that enduring perk off your avatar survivor, we see you.

  • Run Franklins instead. The goal is not to go without being blinded, the goal is to destroy the flashlight. ;)

  • I still record every match, but I don't waste my time reporting anymore.

  • No need to rework, they can delete RPD.

They did not but you realize that's even worse then, right?

If they were not a SWF, a four pack of strangers was able to completely neuter the powers of a killer. Pinhead was turned into the most basic of basic M1 killers by a group of strangers who were just good at coordinating who goes to pick up the box and who stays on the gens.

I'm assuming they were a SWF based on the sheer level of coordination they had but you make a good point, it doesn't have to be a 4 Man SWF to render 75% of the killer base unviable as long as they're all doing their job as survivor.

Devs posted their own stats before and it showed over 70% of all matches have SWF in some form or another. Whether 2 man swf or 3 swf and 1 rando, its pretty much almost in almost all games. And that was awhile back, it's probably more now.

    At your skill level though.

Again I'll restate, if someone else can use the same killers that you can't and can perform well with them (whether it be Otz, Scott Jund, any top tier DBD player), then the issue is not the killer. It's your current skill level

Yeah not like those players dont sit in the game 60-80 hours per week.

Sure, we are all that level!

    /cringe

  • Unfortunately, 300 not enough. You gonna have to keep playing, wat6ch as many YT vids as you can from killer mains making strat vids, map tile guides, perk synergy etc,... this is not a game you master in 300 hours, gonna take a few more.

Don't give up, it gets easier as you continue to play good teams. I enjoy playing survivors and losing, you always learn.

In matches where I stomp them and 4k easily, its not as fun for me personally.

That happens with me all the time. If I’m playing Bubba and I can tell the team is a coordinated SWF I’ll just sit there near the hook while one or sometimes all three come over and wave at me to chase them for a while. It’s a great way to keep them off gens!

And they oddly think this is how we want to play. I was ready to run off but since all 3 of you are here, lets party!

  • @MrPeanutbutter said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2907061#Comment_2907061

Yep - play the game the way you want to play. Survivor players will always play the most optimal way possible and leverage every advantage they have in a match (coordinating on comms, god pallets, multiple strong loops next to each other, etc.). That’s the way I always play as survivor. Killers shouldn’t feel bad at all for playing any way they want. The devs have balanced this game in a way that requires killers to opportunistically camp and tunnel to secure kills against coordinated SWF teams. It’s the best way to snowball pressure against these teams. If you go for individual chases you’ll have all 5 gens done with maybe a few hooks at most. If you don’t camp the last survivor that gets hooked when all gens are done then they’ll get rescued and all 4 survivors wait at the gate for the whole EGC so they can t-bag you for being a “trash killer”.

Certainly not all matches are like this. When I go against solos or two-man SWF groups I actually feel like it’s a level playing field and have fun most of the time. Survivors have to take more risks not knowing whether they’re wasting time or making the optimal play. The biggest problem for killers in this game is the advantage that 4-man SWF teams have being able to coordinate and never waste any time in a match. The devs have refused to balance around this and the result is a community of frustrated killer players who have to play every match in a way that survivors find “unfun”.

More often than not, SWF teams literally cause/encourage camping.

Over the past couple of days playing BUbba I have had numerous recorded matches with survivors literally hanging out like on the second level of Ormond, looking at me telling me "come" with emote 2 key while I have one on hook on ground level.

Ummm, I am not going anywhere, just gonna sit here and stare at you until she hits second stage.

SWF camp the hooks then get upset when you dont leave hahah

  • Two days ago I had a Jane sabo a hook and ten seconds later sabo another right in front of me. Have had many questionable things occuring in matches, some are hardly noticeable to the average player.

I record every match and have videos of this stuff. I uploaded the sabo one

  • Some of the killer proportions are not correct for sure. When I first saw the Artist I figured they just had her proportions incorrect. I mean look at Nemesis model, looks so awkward. Not sure what happened there

  • Killer actually is much less stressful for me tbh.

As you play more and more teams that you can't beat or struggle with, you get better and more confident.

  • DBD is not sold as, marketed as, or developed as a "party game."

DBD is sold as "competitive online PVP"

DBD is not even in the party game category on steam.

DBD is sold as "difficult survival horror game."

The party game myth is pushed by survivor mains, but the game is not sold as a casual game at all.
