  • I've been saying this for a long time and I'll say it now - 15 seconds is a reasonable decision in the beginning and middle of the trial, but in the end game it should be like before - about 10 seconds, besides the fact that these 5 seconds decide a hell of a lot, the survivor at the end can also use DH, which you either have to wait for or hit directly, which only makes the situation worse if hooks / gates spawn is bad

We all have these same issues in both roles. The helpless feeling happens constantly in survivor too, when the killer gets so much momentum so fast that there's zero chance of recovery. I have people AFKing under hook and running up to me to die every time I play. I personally never feel that way as killer because I can still win in end game.

The MMR raising too quickly is a problem for everyone too. You go form getting the worst players you've ever seen to psychos, while feeling there's very little in between. It's a whole game issue, not just a killer issue.

    I recently experienced this stomp:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/0Y8T3O1ZS7OJ/19cc1343d0158-screenshoturl.jpg

I got two hooks. The solo had gen perks but that's not what blew it for me, it was being matched with three perkless anons that were probably high performers on a win streak, with a new killer I'm still learning (but doing decent with) and also on Badham. Matchmaking, the map, and my own lack of ability lost me this match.

I don't think those single perks did you in. You also had two anti-gen perks as well. I also. bring that dreaded Commodious toolbox with meta add-ons AND BtL to refill it, as well as Deja Vu, and I've never once won a game in 3 minutes. I still lose more than I win as surv, and I still win more than I lose as killer while running aura and undectable.

    image.png

Yes, but I didn't have time to use them, because to activate them I have to go and kick the generator, which, unlike meta perks, is done passively, saving seconds

Regarding the trial in 3 minutes, I meant that if they had full repair builds, the game would have clearly ended faster
And yes, for now I am holding at 67% kill rate, but this does not cancel out that feeling when you just feel helpless, because everything goes too fast and you do not have enough time for all the actions

As I already wrote in one of my posts earlier, if I lose to -1 in 1 trial, then the next one I may well be against 4 players who don’t understand a damn thing about the game, which only increases my MMR and makes me suffer, because I’m still not very good at playing this killer, to put it mildly…

  • image.png image.png

There is indeed a problem with repair efficiency, but it varies depending on:
    - your skill level as a killer
    - the map and its balance
    - how smart the survivors are
    - survivor builds

And these aren't even Gen Rush builds + toolboxes with BNPs, otherwise the game would have ended in 3-5 minutes

    7 minutes = 420 seconds
Average chase time = 30 seconds
    Each surv has 3 stages = 30 * 3 = 90
Total chases for all 4 is 12
    Total chases per trial = 420 / 30 = 14
Extra 60 seconds for DS or DH

  • Lately, I've stopped dodging lobbies for both Survivors and Killers - the results are disastrous

One Killer game I struggle to get a -1, the next I'm matched with players who can't even repair a single gen (DC after first chase)

On Survivors, it's a complete joke. If you don't check lobbies based on players hours, you'll get people with 100-600 hours, and trials end terribly. Meanwhile, if you look for teammates based on their hours, either the Killer will DC during the trial or suffer the entire trial, because survs aren't stupid = gens are flying, chases are long

The game throws you anywhere just to fill a lobby faster

Additionally, I'd also like to point out that the game shouldn't consider the total Killer time, but the individual Killer time. If you've played 1,000 hours on Nurse, that doesn't mean you'll be tournament skill level on Hillbilly

  • Both sides show who has more meta perks in their build

  • I only support the idea of removing zombies, but I would also add additional mutation progress for each hit on a player or zombie, so that the stage accumulates faster, and reduce the number of syringes on the map or some other buffs in general, the idea is for the player to play against me, and not a stupid AI, Nemesis standing AFK creates pressure while other killers need to do something

I disagree about the killer classes, they are all useless except for the shadow

    P.S

Regarding the sprint, I agree with the people above; there shouldn't be a sprint button

Regarding the scout, I'd give him a longer cooldown when he creates a pallet, but a shorter one when he simply resets it

  • @Phantom_ said:

IDK if you missed out on one of the most famous Dev streams, where it was explained that kills = skill = win. Escaping = winning. Do I agree with that mindset? Absolutely not. But sadly the game doesn't reward you for skillful plays, in fact most of the tactics that did require skill have been nerfed over the years.

To give you an example: a survivor that loops the killer for multiple gens, but yet got face-camped to death wouldn't get much BP nor would it count as a 'win', even if all their teammates got out. Then we finally got anti-camp, but that still doesn't work in the end-game (which is really fair) but the fact remains that if that person on hook dies, it will equal to a lose as per the game. Their MMR will drop. If you get hatch, it won't count as a win. If your MMR keeps dropping, you will be paired with players who might've installed the game 2 days ago, and you're just stuck in a vicious cycle. Unless you SWF.

As a killer if you hook every person twice, and get 1 kill. It won't count as a win. And so on and so forth.

The issue is the total sum of what you realistically can do versus all the other elements of the game that you don't control, but can massively impact your gameplay. Be it teammates of different skills / mindset. Be it the map you spawn on. The RNG of the maps. If the game rewarded you for more than escaping/killing (this in regards to MMR), then skillful plays would also factor more into winning conditions, and feel more rewarding because they quite literally would be.

I remember before the increases of lockers and the proper placement of them, it was awful to play Dredge on certain maps. So to put all of it just on the community? No, I don't agree with you on that one.

You reap what you sow. This state of the game might be exactly what the devs want: a scale that is always tipped in one way.

    Legends are not forgotten

  • I can slightly dispute this here. But unfortunately, I don't have a video demonstration on hand right now

The point is: on the killer's side, this might not mean "another loop" but a change in the course of the trial as a whole. The killer bears more responsibility for his actions and decisions than each survivor individually, so the difference of one circle or one missed hit due to ping provides a simply cosmic advantage and depends not on the skill level, but on how close a given player is to the server...

    P.S

You must understand that if you make a mistake while playing as a survivor, there are others who will back you up. As a killer, you are always alone, and no one will help you

Regarding the video, I'll try to capture more footage of the server literally stopping/not registering my hit/pallete stun because a survivor/killer is closer to the server, given that our difference is 40 ms. But I also can't dispute that people with a 500 ping aren't being kicked; that's clearly strange

  • Standing in the lobby for 20-30 minutes as a Killer was a challenge for me, but when they made it possible to play as a Survivor - things got a lot better

I also have friends who've either never played as a Killer, and this is their chance to overcome their fear, or just play as a Killer with a friend

After nearly 5 years of playing, I've grown tired of the monotony of 1v4, where you spend most of the time playing against perks, not players. I don't find the chaos shuffle and lights out particularly interesting, because nothing really changes (gameplay)

I think most people think the same way, the other modes are just boring, there is nothing fundamentally new in them

  • Rubber bandings, random teleports, random lags even with low graphics…

The servers connect killers/survivors to unknown locations, causing the ping to rise to 100 or more
It's not even funny, the game has turned into a chaotic mess of ######### where you're trying not to catch another server/game bug instead of surv

I find that hard to believe because other companies have be able to rid 95% of their hacker problems when it was rampant and some of them did it with ease.

A cheater can open gates on 5 generators in 0.1 seconds, and the server won't raise any questions; all clients will receive this information and assume everything is fine. Under normal circumstances, the server will either ignore the gate opening altogether, seeing that there are still 5 generators, or there will be a desynchronization between the cheater and the server, in which case the cheater should simply be kicked from the match. This is called server-side validation, and the principle by which it works is NEVER TRUST THE CLIENT. The server is the authority, it controls everyone and everything, whether it's allowed or not. DBD doesn't have this. There may be some mini-validations, but definitely not full-fledged ones. Why does this work in other games? Probably because they initially laid out the right game architecture and thought about security. DBD was a miracle success; at the time of its creation, no one thought it would last so long, as a result of which the technical debt grows every year

  • The funniest thing is, I watched a video interview with a cheater. They hack DBD early in their career because it's too easy...

Also, banning cheater accounts is useless. There are spoofers, hardware ban bypasses, and so on, so even if they ban them 10 times = nothing

They need server-side validation of speed, repairing, gates opening, hits, cooldowns, perks, and so on. The game is built on too much trust on client side. And I'm afraid this will never happen, because they can't afford three more servers for the Middle East, Africa, Russia. And given the problems and lags that arise when launching 2v8 mode - server-side validation will simply kill everything completely

Well, and probably even more global reason than the servers - the game needs to be redesigned so that trust is built on the server, and they will definitely not do this because too much has been done in 10 years, although they seemed to promise an update to the security protocols in the February update (Quality of Life initiative), so there is still time to see whether it was just empty words or not

  • SWFs have a higher chance of winning than solo ones, that's nothing new. However, they can get stuck healing or saving, which will put pressure on them all

Additionally, I'd recommend learning to play mobile killers or those who ignore looping mechanics (even slightly: Huntress, Nemesis, Wesker)

This will speed up your hooks significantly

I personally choose killers based on 3 categories: those who ignore looping mechanics, those who are very mobile, and those who have side objective(s)

    Anti-loop:

    • Nurse

    Mobile:

    • Blight
    • Billy
    • Oni
    • Wesker

    Side objective:

    • Nemesis (spray + zombies)
    • Wesker (spray)
    • Oni (healing)

On top of all this, even SWFs can be potatoes and leave the last generator in a terrible hexagon, which, with the right killer tactics, will turn the trial to -7/8

Therefore, quickly starting generators (fast repairing speed) is not always a guarantee of loss. You can lose 2/3 of the generator before you put pressure on the team of survivors, but in the end, tactics + survivors' mistakes + which killers and on what map with what experience you are playing, there are many factors here, you just need to be able to understand the situation, which comes with time

  • I'm all for the Dredge, but with so many pallets on a 2v8 map, I doubt its ability makes any sense at all

I can also say the same about the Unknown, it seems to be so insignificant in normal mode that it has the lowest kill rate of all

Therefore, if they are added, then it will be with conditions on the maps, like less pallets and more lockers, or making killers unhealthy, as was the case with the Clown buff in previous patches

u can change the ping with vpn cause it can connect to different places, also when u manipulate bad routing u will get more laggy hits, u clearly dont know how to use vpn if u defend it, ive seen it already, i used nord vpn in the past, depend on which region i connect myself to, the ping changes, and in games like dbd the killers get advantage on high pings which is absurd. the lower the ping player should always have the advantage. thats rule number 1 in pvp games.

    1. Where did I defend VPN?

    2. PvP games are all rules-based, not random, and where did the developers even personally state that this is a PvP game? Community-organized tournaments are purely their idea, and even then, people play with restrictions on perks, killers, and maps

    3. You're misinterpreting my post, because I'm saying that people with high ping aren't always those using a VPN. There are many factors that can increase ping, such as distance to the nearest server or its complete absence, but you're reducing it all to one criterion: they use a VPN

The claim that DBD is a PvP game is false and has no official confirmation. The only official information is that they changed the gameplay approach from hide-and-seek to running, and now the entire meta/new perks rely on auras and fast chases/info

It is very strange to base your opinion and arguments on the fact that someone should have an advantage over another based on unconfirmed sources

  • I've seen situations more than once where streamers' streams were snipped by cheaters

Imagine a situation: 4 people in a lobby are ready to play, but then Dwight flies in from a cross-platform with Legacy Prestige and you have no way to dodge him. You're forced to play with the cheater or get a penalty

I wish all the killers have this low ping. but probably 1 out of 50 is like this.

Your comments about using a VPN don't reflect reality

In fact, consider that there is no local server for players from the Middle East and Africa, and for Russia/CIS, because of this, a LOT of people are forced to play through Frankfurt, which is why the ping is high

And regarding Russia, there is also filtering of incoming data packets through TSPU, which is why the ping is higher

Now take into account a player from Siberia, who goes through data packet filtering and is forced to play through Frankfurt, because there is no server closer, the ping there starts from 85 and above

I rarely unequip DS. Safe predrops, bring to gen if teammate is not injured and gen on low progress to let him take a hit. I make tunneling for killer looking unattractive. It’s extremely situational. Sometimes I bring killer to gen if notice there are safe loop there (while other area is instant death). Killer can distract on gen, kick it,and I have time took him even more far, or he changes target.

If I’m on death hook and killer is hardtunneler, I do everything to bring him as far away as possible from team and just waste time. I’m not trying to survive, I’m buying time for team, because I’m already doomed. The good thing if my teammates read this and going for save only after 40 seconds. 30 sec is enough for reach, group, tap, and unhook even if killer camping.

Honestly, it’s really, really rare killer were able to bodyblock my 10 s timer. Even in basement. And usually it was my bad play, or teammate one.

Most regulars on this forum have been playing for awhile, have seen it all, and are probably just tired at this point. Their tolerance levels are low.

But to the question of what to do, it's impossible to say since your next move (as some others have pointed out) is really dependent on a number of factors. Killer, pallet and tile RNG, map, perks, etc. In some situations i would understand if a survivor just stood there and let themselves get downed (ie hooked in a deadzone, no DS or OTR, and your unhooker doesn't bother to try and take a hit or aggro).

Also a related opinion with these 2 posts

  • It's strange that the situation in which tunneling occurs is not specified...

I only feel upset if I'm being tunneled on 4-5 gens, since this basically makes no sense, but if you take a situation where 2-3 generators remain, then I try to take as much time as possible from the killer, because I understand that he tunnels to even out the odds, I also don't see anything wrong with tunneling in the endgame

So for me, people who scream that they are being tunneled on 2-3 gens or in the endgame are associated with newbies who do not understand why this is happening

  • They're trying to get as many people online as possible, for example: Wesker and Nemesis, Oni and Ghost Face, Dracula and Pyramid Head. So I think it'll continue, and we can probably expect Springtrap and/or Ghoul, as they're both pretty popular

The final season of Stranger Things and the Alien movie are coming out, so those are also options

  • Definitely not useless, but it won't help much against hard tunneling, something in the middle
I see only 1 problem - endgame, otherwise this is a pretty good change, the survivor will have more time to run to the pallet / window / structure

  • @cogsturning said:

I don't believe the two things are equivalent, nor do I believe the popular narrative that nerfing gens will do anything to stop tunneling, as it already hasn't and they've had plenty of nerfs. True genrushing isn't even a thing since the multiple adjustment to BNPs, which is where the term came from. Killers will spend 90s in chase while spreading zero pressure and cry gen rushing when three gens pop even if no one has a single gen perk or toolbox.

Gen rush can be accomplished without any skills (unless your reflexes are so bad you can't hit skill checks).

The funniest and most truthful observation is that I'd rename it to AFK check
While the killer is chasing one surv, three are sitting bored and pressing the space bar to keep from falling asleep completely

  • I don't have any screenshots specifically for the current status, but I do have some old ones

I would have uploaded more, but unfortunately, the YouTuber I've been watching for 4 years couldn't stand playing this game anymore and deleted all his social media accounts, which had tons of screenshots…

I agree that the inconstancy is probably the most frustrating thing.

Playing against a killer with a high ping feels like it's almost always a lose lose situation on a lot of pallets or small loops.

    This game needs more servers

  • In fact, I'm actually glad they actually listened to the feedback

Even their comment about the pallets was encouraging; I hope they change them exactly as they suggested, and not the usual way

Regarding the 15 seconds after unhooking - I also agree. But in the end game, I think it wasn't necessary to do this → Revert back to 10

Regarding the anti-tunnel and anti-slug, I have bipolar disorder, so I'll keep my opinion to myself

  • Why SWFs never get nerfs?

  • No, I don't think he needs to be nerfed, because there are SWF nerds out there. We already have M1 killers unplayable due to palletes change. Nerfing M2, which can do something at high MMR, will completely kill the game. And in general, people who play well on the Blight deserve only respect, because they poured a lot of time and effort into mastering this killer and his ability; mastering Ghoul doesn’t take much time

I don't think I'm the only one. There's literally a 300% incentive and there's still not enough survivors.

I agree that playing as them here is boring as hell, because nothing has really changed. It would have been interesting to see this mode if the criteria for winning here was different. Then perhaps the content creators were more interested in playing here, because it's something truly new to understand. Killers already have a unique experience that's not available in the normal mode

I doubt that adding classes/maps/more farming will attract a huge number of people, because the core of the game for survivors will not really change, it will be a temporary stopgap

  • I always thought Bubba was the killer who eats survivors resources, specifically pallets, to the max, and the smart way to counter him was to exploit windows / spin him around yourself / know the timing and jump in/out of the locker / trick him with texture angles

I seriously wouldn't even unhook that survivor from the video, she just gave the killer a ton of resources in the first chase, without thinking about looping at all, as if she was the only one playing against the killer, then Bubba would switch to another and he would immediately down because everything was already used…

  • As for Russia, it's possible that they'll completely cut themselves off from the global internet. They currently have an internal policy of blocking everything they can. For example, YouTube doesn't work in Russia, and there are already problems logging into the game, without certain programs

  • Motion calculation depends on the stability of the delay calculations between the previous and next frame, usually in milliseconds, and since different processors operate at different frequencies, they are equalized in the frame rendering frequency so that no one runs too slowly or too quickly

You can play DBD with music playing in the background - it puts a strain on the processor

You can play DBD alone - there's no strain

So the refresh rate isn't stable between the two. But epoch milliseconds are always stable, because processors can execute instructions in nanoseconds

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elapsed_real_time

  • I don't like idea of anti-slug, because of Oni and Twins

Their abilities are about slug gaming

Like I struggled 3 gens on the Oni to get blood and in the end i should insta down one survivor instead of couple because of anti-slug and additional 33% per each downed survivor

Have you ever played the game before that patch? It was EXTREMELY MISERABLE for killers that NO ONE wants to play killer. Killer queues were always instant, whereas survivors have to wait 5-10 minutes for one game.

That was the time I started playing this game 😅

My first survivor que time was around 10-15 minutes

And then, like in a year, I used to play with meta perks such as DS, DH, Unbreakable/Iron will, Self Care, all the boosted #########

And I was one of those people who hated killers and their "camp/slug/tunnel" tactics

    Young and stupid me

So, I kinda agree, more killer role nerfs = potentially more que time for survivors as it was in 2019/2020

Élodie - her standard hairstyle always lifts my spirits. I call her "makoronikha" (from the word "pasta") because that's exactly what her hairstyle reminds me of

Third place between Ada and Yui, I like both of these characters, but I don’t know which one specifically yet 🙄

    KILLERS:

Nurse - I love it when people curse me and say that I'm a nub who doesn't know how to play this game

Oni - I love both of this killer: ability and skin(s) - Powerful and Brutality. And oh my God, what an eargasm I get every time he starts using his ability (yyyYAAAAAAAA)

Dredge - I started using it relatively recently, good mobility + the anti-loop, where you can close almost any loop

Before Dredge it was Ghost Face, but when you start running into more or less competent survivors, your ability disappears pretty quickly, and besides: his undetectable is useless against voice comms and backs from other survivors on which there is no oneshot

Yeah nice try killer main. Just because survivors get a little help via pallets don't complain pls. It was long overdue. It means little to most killers anyways besides ghostface, pig or bubba. But ghostface and pig are stealth killers and should be used as such.

Don't provoke people with your bias

  • I'm sick and tired of ending up on either a closed map or a map with a million pallets: Larry, Hawkins, Springwood, Handelfield, Toba, Nostoromo, Crotus

They increased number of pallets and also chances of getting ######### maps, this is just ######### nuts

Yes, the que time for killers have decreased, it used to be 8-10 minutes, now it's 2
Yesterday at 7 PM, the que time for survs were 2 minutes, and for killers like 6 seconds

Playing on killers has become more difficult because of palletes density (not just my opinion)

Also, there's some crazy stuff happening with matchmaking/generators repair speed (my opinion)

    Also, for my own post:

I'm not schizophrenic, we have a new wave of hidden cheaters again, literally in the last trial against the Blight, all our generators were 95% repaired from the start of the trial…

Dead by Queue confirms it's purely by time of day. If you look at it afternoon vs evening per region, you'll see the times switch. Survivors have the longer queues in the evening while killers have longer queues in the afternoon.

Yes, but look at what's happening now (1 PM), I've never seen the que time for a trial as a killer be so low even during the day, it's 5 min max.
