  • Honestly, I just want the miss penalty to go away.

  • This just feels like old legion with different add-ons. I mean, I'd be down for that to a degree.

Exposed means you can be one shot. Sounds like she had Haunted Grounds and some other survivor triggered it by breaking the totem.

Here is a list of Expose perks:

Hex: Haunted Grounds (Spirit Perk): Two totems will spawn as lit. Cleansing one of them will give all survivors the Expose effect for a limited duration. After this the other lit totem (that wasn't cleansed) will become a dull totem. How to work around them: Don't get found during this time/ don't cleanse totems.

Iron Maiden (Legion Perk): Getting out of a locker will cause you to scream your location to the killer and give you expose for 15 seconds. If you scream when getting out of a locker, don't get in them again when the killer is near. The killer can also open lockers faster than normal.

Hex: Devour Hope (Hag Perk): The killer has to hook and walk 40 m away to get a token. At 3, every survivor becomes exposed until the totem is cleansed. Solution: Save close or cleanse the totem. At 5 tokens he can MORI ALL SURVIVORS.

Hex: NOED (Basic Perk): Pretty explanatory, when all gens are completed, the killer gets a speed boost and all survivors are exposed as long as the totem is up.

Rancor (Spirit Perk): An obsession perk, when the last gen is completed, the obsession will be exposed and Moriable. The work around is to not be the obsession, or to hide if you are. The obsession can see the killers aura when a gen is completed, so if you are the obsession, look for a killer aura if possible (you won't be able to see undetectable killers though).

Make Your Choice (Pig Perk): When the killer is 40 m away from a hooked survivor, this perk activates. For a limited amount of time, the rescuer of the hooked survivor becomes exposed.

These are all expose perks at the current time. Some killer powers expose you, like Myers and Ghostface, some can one shot without telling you, like Billy/Bubba, and some addons give expose, like Iridescent coin for Deathslinger, Redhead Pinky Finger for Clown, and Iridescent head for Huntress.

    I hope this helps you.

Noed activates when the exit gate is powered, not when last gen is completed. Ik it doesn't seem like much of a distinction, but with rancor, if you close the hatch, it doesn't activate, because it specifically states that the last gen has to be completed. Noed will still activate after closing the hatch.

The devs "balance" the game around rank 20 survivors so why a rank 17 Oni that don't get any kill and get a 4 escape shouldn't be noted???

You just answered your own question. It's not balanced around high rank survivors. It's balanced around low rank survivors going up against low rank killers. A swf group n00b stomping doesn't properly showcase how a typical match should go. Again, at best, it shows how poor the matchmaking is.

The majority of Deathslingers I play against all have had a similar, very safe (which usually means boring) playstyle. They play like a boring Huntress who isn't confident in their hatchet throwing so they just bloodlust you and m1 you until you're forced to throw a pallet or vault a window, THEN they'll use their power.

Fine. It's a safe way to play, although it's boring to go against.

The part that irritates me more than basically playing like a boring Huntress is the damn near tier 1 Myers stealth he has with M&A when he has a ranged weapon, and everyone who plays him proxy camps like a Hag. The character is basically made for camping, because you can pretend to go away, and you don't have to go far with his awful terror radius, and then come right back within like 5 seconds of someone being unhooked for more boring gameplay. No killer with that much range should have that small of a terror radius.

    tl;dr

Plays like a boring Huntress who doesn't throw hatchets, damn near tier 1 Myers stealth, proxy camps like a Hag.

Deathslinger tr with m+a is 16 meters. T1 Meyers has a TR of 0. T1 has undetectable.

I see streamers and youtubers everyday play this game and even they struggle to keep up with gens. Doesn't seem to matter how fast they get their downs, they still usually get down to open exit gates or one gen left. But also, this is their full time job. They play this game nearly everyday for multiple hours. Yet they still struggle a lot of the time.

So why would I want to play killer after seeing someone way more experienced struggle? "Oh well they're red rank so their survi-" yeah well it doesn't seem to matter what rank I am, I always get red rank survivors as well. I have been taking breaks from this game (unfortunately). Play two hours, disappear for 2 weeks, repeat. I come back to try out the new killer and am rank 14. Still get red ranks lol. So my matches are like these streamers, except I'm not as well equipped to handle it as they are. I work a full time job and have other things to do.

I don't even play survivor anymore because the matches are so fast and boring.

Honestly who would want to play killer anymore though. Who enjoys this.

Depends on what your goal is for each match. If you're only interested in getting a 4k, well survivors are going to be good. It's unrealistic to assume you're going to kill everyone every time. Even the devs said they balance the game based on 2 escapes. Personally, my goal is to get more bp than everyone else.

  • This is the type of thing people are talking about when they mention farming. So yeah, this happens every now and then.

  • I actually didn't get this achievement until after the rework. I do agree that it should be changed so that it can be done without add-ons, though.

  • Sorry to hear that. I enjoy playing the new killer. I even find myself running the new ruin more than the old ruin.

was that a new edition with this update or was it always like that?

It's new, as is losing add-ons. It wasn't an effect before because add-ons weren't lost before.

  • I really like the Deathslinger as well. Personally, I like running shadow born. I never liked it on other killers, but it fits him perfectly. I also like running devour hope and noed, since his harpoon attack works with exposed. As far as add-ons, I like running 2 aim movement increases, as he almost moves at full speed while aiming, which is great in a chase.

  • That's odd. Maybe make a bug report. I don't have that issue. I also play on Xbox

So I started to play killer more like everyone asked. It is fun. My only complaints are:

1.) When you face a team of DS it’s annoying. They’ll either waste your time mid-match with it by performing miracle stunts to escape otherwise impossible situations, or use it in the end to guarantee their escape. They’ll crawl out the escape. The later is what should be fixed. Like DS should work only when the killer has been chasing you for over 15 seconds, pr something. Which if a killer hasn’t hit you or gave up means that they’re “tunneling”. Now I stop the chase if I cannot get you after a Bloodlust because I’m just wasting time. Because of the team of DSing, and Flashlighting I run Deerstalker on my killers, and I just slug them constantly.

So! Let’s talk about the REAL subject! After playing killer I decided to buy the new one! I’ve been playing with the Deathslinger for the past couple of days, and I’m loving him. I love Soulsborne so when I saw him he and his weapon looks like something out of Bloodborne. I had to have him. At first I was having a hard time, but I got use to him. He’s a very good slugger imo.

What I run as of now:

Deerstalker: For slugging. You can see them on the ground, and keep an eye while you’re doing other things. If someone goes to rescue you can yank them away.

Coulrophobia: Believe it or not this perk I feel is amazing for slugging. It will take the survivor a while to pick them up off the ground in a pinch. Which is long enough to aim down sights from afar, and yank the healer away. Once they realize this the survivors often try to collectively heal slugged players off the ground. They also burn through medkits without fully healing. They have divide themselves to heal quickly. Since they can no longer heal effectively in TR you while you’re chasing someone else. WHICH I NOTICED REDS DO ALL THE TIME WITH THEIR BOLD SELVES.

Nurses Calling: To see injured survivors, and to aim directly at anyone healing the slugged survivor. You can aim around corners since their auras are highlighted. You can almost always fire from a corner before the survivor can respond. If they screw up trying to dodge the slugged victim receives a penalty. If players cluster to heal slugged victims you can always reel one.

BBQ n Chili: When you finally do hook people you can get intel on where they are if you feel that they’re on gens from afar. I was thinking the new Hangman’s Trick at first because if they’re anywhere near a hook you’ll see them while carrying a survivor. I also wanted to try Thanatophobia, but he hasn’t learned it yet. So for now I use BBQ for intel/points.

I also had matches against some Reds last night to demonstrate my setup. I’ll upload it when I get home if you want. But, how do you guys feel about Deathslinger? Anyone else made up interesting ways to catch survivors yet? He honestly gave me a reason to play killer now. I didn’t like most of the killers. I play console, but would only play with Pig, and Nurse. Now I’m just slinging 💀. It wasn’t that I hated killers, it was just there weren’t any that suited me. I feel every player should have their main killer that reflects them.

DS should not require long chase to activate. That's not the way for it to be tunneling. I've gone up against many killers that stand there when you unhook someone and wait to immediately attack the unhooked survivor before they can move. It should just be deactivated in the exit gate.

  • I rather like Autodidact. Once you get your stacks, healing is super fast.

  • I really only feel that camping and tunneling are toxic. Slugging not so much. It's actually somewhat risky. If you slug someone with unbreakable and Flip-flop, you run the risk of them getting up and healing the others. Or up to half of their wiggle meter filled by the time you pick them up.

I'm not saying he's not good, I'm saying he's not as good as Huntress.

I think it depends on the player. I suck with Huntress. She is one of 3 killers I have that I haven't unlocked any teachable perks for. I also feel that, while she has a higher skill ceiling, she also has a higher skill floor. It's just easier to aim with Deathslinger. The trade off is that his range is terrible.

  • @Mikeadatrix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1157018#Comment_1157018

She is better than him and that is just a fact. She has map pressure and can snowball really hard by just taking pot shots. I love Deathslinger but until he gets buffs, she'll always have the edge on him.

Idk, he has precision and accuracy. People keep complaining about his hitbox with the harpoon. I was chasing an injured survivor towards an open gate. Another survivor bobbed and weaved between me and him. Huntress would have hit the body blocker, but with the harpoon, I was able to shoot past her and catch my quary.

  • Personally, I can see any perk with exposed being used, as attacking a survivor on the harpoon that is exposed is a down. So no butt wiggling in the exit gate. If you're exposed, he can just pull you out and down you.

  • @Carpemortum said:

Honestly, I just wish survivors would stop being so hard pressed to heal me when I'm very obviously doing work or not interested in heals.

I've stopped, shook no, pointed away, and gone back to work to have someone watch me fi ish the entire gen trying to heal me.

Even if I'm not running resilience, how can you not understand that I'm not going to stop what I'm doing to let you heal me, now you're wasting your time.

Hell, I once had a Claudette stop repairing a gen when the TR started in and kept trying to get me to run while I finished the last 2/3 of it by myself.

No he isn't, I have a good build for him (Stbfl, Nurse's, M+A, Pop) and it still depends on the map and the survivors. Against a good swf, he gets bullied hard, and that's all there is to it. He can't punish mistakes nearly as hard as a killer like Oni, Billy, Spirit, so he just isn't as good, because his power has way too many counters.

I actually found that shadowborn works best for him. Combine with aim movement speed. While they Bob and weave trying to avoid your shot, you can move faster than them. Also, his bayonet counts as a basic attack, so exposed works after you harpoon someone. Same with stbfl. Without exposed, I would only harpoon injured survivors.

  • This effect actually made sense when Legion first came out, because you could use your FF when it was half charged. It doesn't make any sense now. Missing attacks penalizing you, something that came with the rework, only made sense when hits depleted the DW timer. Something the rework removed. I can see the fatigue duration. If you catch up to someone, technically it's still faster with the fatigue than with other killers, by a few seconds, but still. I kinda understand scratch marks being invisible, but why do they just disappear? They should still be generated. Idk. There were 2 exploits that needed to be fixed, and instead, the developers put Legion under the knife with a lengthy recovery. They're in a good spot now, all things considered. But a few minor tweaks would make them great without being OP.

  • Yeah, this, their stun duration, and missed FF attack penalty have been a pretty big complaint for a while now. At least a basic attack no longer depletes all of it.

  • Idk if it's underrated, as I don't know what it gets rated, but I never see anyone running Autodidact. If you get enough skill checks to max out tokens, you can fully heal someone from the dying state in about 5 seconds.

  • Not really licensed, but part of me would love to have Jeff the Killer. I don't have any idea how that would work, but the Mori would have to be the "Go to sleep" thing.

  • Oddly enough, I find that his best add-ons are the ones that increase movement speed while aiming.

After watching Monto play on the ptb, I did notice that he actually got a nerf when he went live. In the ptb, hitting a healthy survivor with the harpoon put them into the injured state. Even if you broke the chain early, it would still leave them injured. DW only with the bayonet while harpooned. But now, harpooning someone, which is shown visually to impale them through the frikkin chest, does absolutely nothing.

However, after testing, any type of exposed status effect works with the harpoon, not just the Iridescent coin.

  • Idk. I enjoy playing as him. He's not terrible, but sometimes it feels like the harpoon range is too low.

However, I do feel like he's not particularly terrifying. I just wish they added something to his appearance that made him seem less like he's just some guy. Like, Trapper is just a guy, but his mask and weapon are gnarly. The Pig's mask, too, adds just enough to be creepy. Deathslinger is just a guy. With like a broken jaw. And I guess his eyes glow a little bit? Idk.

  • I kinda hope they make it so his tr isn't bigger than the range of his harpoon. Either increased range or decreased tr.

  • The funny thing here is that I straight up came to this post to say either Adam Francis or Tapp. Then, while reading your post, my first thought was, "who's Adam?" So I guess I'm gonna have to say Adam.

  • I still play killer. Personally, I still have more fun as killer than survivor. I actually like new ruin. I don't have to pay attention to kicking gens with it. And I always preferred devour hope anyway.

But yeah, I noticed a huge drop off of killers with the ruin rework.

  • He trades range for accuracy if you're comparing the 2. Personally, I suck at aiming with Huntress, so I'm looking forward to the new killer.

  • Anyone else prefer devour hope to noed anyway?

What are you trying to say? and also if you mend you go back to full health at least I think thats how its working

No, mending isn't healing. You're still injured after. I believe you are thinking of cleansing when against the plague. If you are broken from vile purge and cleanse, even if you take damage before being broken, it fully heals you.

  • I might actually started using overwhelming presence now.

  • David is rather difficult, but no mither hard counters slug builds. Ik the killer isn't going to slug you with no mither, but still. Dead hard synergizes well with it.

Two of Aces perks literally do nothing on their own. Aura reading distance increase is worthless without something that gives you aura reading. Actually, I guess increased luck does synergize well with ace in the hole. Hmm...

Yeah, gonna go David. No mither cripples you without really helping anyone else. Open handed can still benefit other people, too.

  • I always figured WGLF needed something more. BBQ has bp bonus AND aura reading. WGLF only gets bp bonus. Why? However, I don't think these 2 should be combined. I DO think that MoM should have the same triggers, though. The only reason I don't think they should be combined, though, is that, if MoM could be used semi-reliably, I think it's effect would be good enough on its own.

If the dev's are smart they are going to be releasing this DLC late, after they fix EVERYTHING they broke balance wise with the Toolbox changes, Perks, and Keeping items after a match 🤨. Like i'm pretty the last of their killer's are just sitting here waiting - staring at the DLC, and ready to uninstall the second it comes out with any of these Survivor Buffs.

Though they already mentioned they don't plan to release the updated Hangman's Trick - which was probably the only balanced thing that came out with this update, but of course; It's in the Killers favor and makes the game easier for them. Therefore it's gots to go! The killer isn't allowed to have fun in this game.

Hangman's Trick is broken. The aura reading distance allows you to see survivors almost across the entire map. I think it should make survivors exposed while sabotaging a hook and a few seconds after. Along with giving a notification when someone starts sabotaging a hook.

  • Um, deep Wound is between injured and dying. If you mend, you don't go to healthy state, so it already injures survivors.

  • I tend to go with Thanatophobia, Dying Light, BBQ and Chili, and then swap out the last slot. Sometimes I go with Overcharge for a complete slowdown, sometimes I go with Devour Hope for more hooking benefit. For add-ons, I go with Legion Pin and duration.

The idea is to keep the survivors broken to get full effect of Thanatophobia, get hooks for further gen slow down with Dying Light, and capitalize on hooks with BBQ and Chili.

  • Did no one watch the dev stream? @Peanits said that getting reset too far was a bug and to let them know about it with all relevant information.

  • Probably the Legion rework. Yeah, the exploits needed to be fixed, but they became super frustrating to play. They're in an ok spot now, but miss penalties are brutal and the cool down could stand to be decreased a bit.

  • I just don't tunnel, so bt only gets me if I literally run into them from around a corner and reflexively attack them.

  • I think MoM should have the same trigger with safe unhooks, too.

  • It's because of the sabo change.

To make sabotaging more interesting and accessible, we have made the following changes:

    1. Sabotaging now takes only a few seconds, but progress resets if you cancel the interaction.
    2. The number of hooks that can be sabotaged with a single toolbox is very limited.
    3. Sabotaged hooks respawn much faster.
    4. Hooks can now be sabotaged from any angle.
    5. Bear Traps can no longer be sabotaged.

  • @Mew said:

what does it do? i cant find what it does anywhere

    From the developer update.

    Hangman’s Trick:

    • Gain a notification when a hook sabotage starts.
    • While carrying a Survivor, see the auras of any Survivors within a set range of a hook.

  • Drop them when you see sabo. Attack other survivor. Hook is supposed to spawn back fast enough for you to not have to leave them for very long.

  • I think, depending on how it effects gameplay, the change to toolboxes is more likely to bring people back.

Also, I actually like Haddonfield and Ormond. Coldwind can die in a fire. In fact, a burned down coldwind might actually be fun.

  • When did dedicated servers come to Xbox?

  • The only thing I want for Legion is the miss penalty. And maybe the hit penalty outside of FF.

1 … 8 9 10 11 12 … 17
